Title: Digital advertising- Solution to Ad fraud
Post by: dad4 on August 14, 2018, 10:13:24 AM
How to stop Ad fraud and other loopholes created by third party involvement in digital advertising.

To me best solution remains blockchain which is obviously a great innovation.

What are your suggestions?

Don't use shitty advertising sites to promote your products. TE sites & bot clicks aren't that hard to detect. (See Google advertising et al)

I think blockchain usage here is really far-fetched and i don't exactly see how this would fix the fake traffic, but instead would be just used as a buzzword by a shitty company to do another ICO.

Would you care to explain why you think "blockchain" usage is the great solution? What exactly is that going to fix?

Any thing can run on blockchain, ranging from the school system,  health care, even the government parastals.
Does it involve record keeping? Then blockchain could be used to make it better. To me this is the greatest innovation of our time, ahead of internet it self.
I am positive some agencies where hardly convinced before adopting the .com internet domain.

They are no independent analytic tools that I know. One way to measure your reach as an advertisers is the system provided by the advertising agency which could be biased.

Imagine a system where you are rewarded to provide your info for an Ad click. Sounds pretty interesting to me and could be used to monitor Bot clicks among others.

Just because everything can be run on a blockchain (note: blockchain is just a data structure; a form of arranging data) it does not mean that everything should run on a blockchain.

Many people seem to misunderstand the real purpose of a blockchain. If you just want to add 'blockchain' as a tag for something, you are not making it better in any way.
The problems you are trying to fix can not be fixed by the use of a blockchain.

But.. feel free to outline. How would you fight ad fraud with 'a blockchain' ?

I haven't said that's what I am doing yet, but you can't say it can't be done.
Third party involvement in the negotiating process have left a loophole in the heart of digital advertising sphere.

A proper smart contract to create an enabling environment for digital advertisers and publishers is underway

If you are talking about the loopholes of advertising to be filled by blockchain, I guess you've probably boarded the wrong train dude.
It makes you think that blockchain, if it can be used anywhere, can be injected in such an analytical field like digital advertising?
There are lots of bugs and bots out there to cheat the whole system and make money side by side for the publishers (those who cheat the system) and not all companies are efficient enough to catch them the way Google does. Blockchain can only fetch and keep records of the data that's being filled with by the amount of clicks/cPM sent, but can't really catch those who cheat it. It can only stop duplicate amount of fraud clicks/impressions, but cannot be that sufficient to remove those bugs or stop bots from looting the advertising media as blockchain is not what you've mentioned it for.
As of today's date, I've seen loads of projects popping up with ICOs using the name of "blockchain" - that they will do this and that with the use of blockchain and secure blah blah things, but not even 1% of these shitty projects have shown any real-time usage of blockchain till date in these projects.

Yeah, Copy-pasting Stedsm's post really makes you think huh.

I almost puked from reading this, seriously. The amount of useless buzzwords without any real meaning behind them is staggering.

What good would a smart contract be when detecting if a page visitor is a bot/real person? I don't see any usecase AT all tbh.

Or am i missing something here? Are you simply looking to cut out the middleman (Which would be google if you use their platform), which is something that i think the brave browser is trying, but this really doesn't have that much to do with "ad-fraud"

Puke and make sure it's on your shirt. Smart contract is for negotiation between publishers and advertisers.
Detecting bot is achieved by rewarding users to provide there info while clicking on the Ad. This info is verified by the platform and recorded in the block. More should be made available.
If you are expecting to learn more on this project, you should be asking for whitepaper and where to read more.
