Title: [IN STOCK]] Gridseed Dual Asic Round 2 -- price updated
Post by: studio1one on March 04, 2014, 02:20:40 PM

As last time it will be 200 units exactly.

I had hoped to open today but two things stopped us

1. Resolving Gridseeds total Failure to send the controller boards we ordered

2. Updating shipping tables to work with our new setup.

Tomorrow We will order and pay for round 2 with Gridseed. This round will not be open until I have confirmed schedule and order with Gridseed and sent payment.

We expect items to ship out of China middle - late next week. The reasons being -- 2 days for international wire transfer -- 3 day lead time for Gridseed to ship to my agent, 1 day for them to arrive with my agent, then 1 day for him to organise and ship out.

Of course it is impossible to give exact timescales before the items are with my agent but this is around how it was last time.

I will update as I get confirmed info from Gridseed

See previous groupbuy thread here

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=468963.0

Things will work slightly different this time with several packages and different shipping options.

We have negotiated with our agent in China to ship orders of 10 or more, directly to you.

If you would prefer for customs reasons (ie you are in EU and it will be cheaper for you to have them shipped from UK) then please add, ship from UK as an addon on the product page(£20), then  at checkout select DHL Express (international from UK) or similar.

This means that we get a little to cover the import costs we will have to pay when goods arrive with us and also by choosing ships from UK.

Shipping the goods internationally directly to customers from China has allowed us to save time and money, which we can pass on.

Pricing will be as follows

20 Gridseed direct from China GBP 1700 free shipping

1 Gridseed GBP 100

1 Gridseed with all accessories GBP 110
10 Gridseed GBP 1000

10 Gridseed with all accessory GBP 1100

Plus shipping

I will update thread title as open and when order is confirmed by Gridseed and we have updated the shipping module to reflect the latest shipping options.

All purchases must be made via our website

From the UK. I'd rather have zero VAT for 20somethingGBP more than pay VAT in Cyprus and have to wait three years for them to refund the VAT (no joke).

Title: Re: [open] Gridseed Dual Asic Round 2 -- lower pricing
Post by: studio1one on March 06, 2014, 11:40:01 AM
OK, this is now open.

You will notice an increase in shipping prices if you are ordering from UK.

The reason for this is to cover our costs for import duties and admin. The reason we have been able to drop our prices significantly is because of streamlining by shipping from China and the fact that if they never arrive to us we don't have the associated import costs. Shipping from UK means our costs increase.

The easiest way to cover these costs is by including it in the shipping cost, so we have added a handling fee. Prices still work out cheaper than our last group buy even with this added.

Ship dates have slipped a couple of days because I haven't been able to confirm up the order with Gridseed until today but now that's done and payment has been sent. Unfortunately it means that payment won't reach them until Monday now so we have been forced to move ship dates a few days.

Thanks to all who purchased in the last round and we look forwards to fulfilling this round.

Oh also note.

As many people are using these without Controller Boards now, using the cheaper R Pi option and direct from PC, the controller board is no longer part of the full package and if you want one it needs to be purchased seperately.

Paypal not currently an option, should be back very soon though. We currently have a limited account due to a large spike in transactions after the last round. They wanted lots of paper work proof of delivery etc, which has been provided. Until they have removed our limitations we cannot offer it.

I want to order 2 miner(+acc.) and 1 controller but entering the Step 4: Delivery Method says, that I only have a choice between local pickup OR china nothing like DHL, royal mail (big problem for me as a German)

I want to pay with bitcoins, can you please tell me which conversion rate/marketplace do you use?

ah, ok. You probably just went over our weight limit for post. I will adjust it so you can order Royal Mail delivery.

We use coinbase. When you get to checkout you need to choose Coinbase and it will take you to Coinbase and give you the amount to pay and the address

I'll definitely opt for China shipping, but there seems to be something wrong. I am in India. Still the Royal Mail shipping is 16 pounds and shipping from China is 26 pounds. Shouldn't it be other way round?

I am guessing you are ordering a low weight. At low weights it works out cheaper like that because post is cheaper than DHL and DHL is a lot cheaper in large bulk. So it actually ends up cheaper for us to get large bulk sent to us then post to you via Royal mail. It's a bit unusual but it would add a lot of time onto your receipt to do it that way.

Shipping Direct From China - Shipping Direct From China (Weight: 4.80kg) £74.00
DHL Express (International from UK) - DHL Zone 3 Shipping Rates - £116.30

So it must be that Royal mail is max 3Kg only?

Correct. It would be quicker and cheaper to get it sent direct from China but you are welcome to order from UK. The reason teh shipping is so expensive from UK is that we add in the import duties and costs, plus the cost of shipping to us first, into the cost of the shipping.

paid order 271
1 full set of 10

just to make sure, the full set includes
10 port USB hub
10 x Mini USB cable
10 x 2.5mm DC tip cable
2 x 12v 30A switching power supply
No controller board.

so I need to start mining:
1 UK/EU adapter plug for the USB hub
2 PC powercables to power the switching power supplies
1 Raspberry pi (does this thing need it's own powercable?)
1 ethernetcable to connect the Raspi to the internet
or are some of these things included?

please let me know if I need anything else, I like to be prepared for when my package arrives.
Any Idea on the ETA?

thanks allready

Hi, yup you got it exact. You don't have to get R Pi you can run from a PC if you want.

if I use Rpi do I still need hub to power one miner or connecting to Rpi usb would be enough for one miner ?

they need external power. You don't power them from a hub, you need to power them from a power supply.

Its not going to be in any hurry. They have offered us the ability to accept payments for bitcoin hardware again but because they consider it high risk they want to hold 25% of all money for 45 days.

By the way, the miner with accessories, the one thing it doesn't come with is a mains cable for the power pack, as we have customers all over the world we can't stock all the different ones, so you will need to supply that. It is a standard kettle lead, same as on a laptop power supply or computer PSU

We work on Coinbase exchange rate. Price always changes. To get a price you need to put everything in your basket, go to checkout then select coinbase option and confirm order.

It will take you to the coinbase payment page and confirm exact amounts. You can then choose to send coins and buy or not order.

Do you know how many gridseeds we can safely hook up on 1 powersupply.
I suppose it makes a big difference if I use them in scrypt-only, which I plan to do.

If everything runs smooth, I plan on expanding rapidly
I was thinking 26 gridseeds on 2 13port USB hubs connected to one RasPI

If that would be possible on those 2 powersupplies, that would be great

Honestly, I'm not certain. the quoted spec per miner is 12V 5A but it may well be able to run a lot more in Scrypt only mode because it's only pulling around 8W at 12V which calculates at only 0.7A. If so in theory you could run 40 from one switching power supply.

If you have a lot then it gets NOISY.... I have 2 and on one the fan made a lot of noise, i cutted it out and inserted a new 80mm fan. Now it is silent and works great.

As someone already said, if it is for scrypt only you don't need then fan and it gets only warm to the touch... for SHA you have to have the fan..

P.

If you are not certain that you want to use scrypt for the rest of your life then add a micro-switch to the cables and you can turn the fan on and off...

The fan in the gridseed only connects across the 12V supply so just unsolder or cut off close to the board. Should you want to refit the fan later you can just connect it to 12V (or 5V for a slower fan), no need to connect it internally again.

Out of stock for now, doing a stock reconcile today against orders, we last did it on Wednesday and sometimes the cart software can go a little screwy so we don't want to oversell. I think we still have around 8 left but will update when we have reconciled.

Also we have some bank transfer orders pending payment from last week that I think people aren't going to confirm so some more stock may become available from there. Going to email everyone who ordered bank transfer more than 5 working days ago and we haven't received funds today

Will be paying for round 3 today and will open on Monday when delivery schedule is confirmed.

Hi I'm interested to buy 3 or 4 units. In this case:

1) Can I order 3 (or 4) "Gridseed Dual ASIC with accessories" (each one with its power supply) or it's better if  I order  one 12V 30A switching DC power supply in place of the 3/4 single 60w ps?

2)The control board is not necessary if I connect directly the usb hub to my pc. Correct?

Thanks

anyone have any problems with the miner not hashing any shares. It did for a few days but now, just shows new blocks. No change to my bat file and I've tried all the miner software (cpuminer/cgminer/bfgminer). They all produce no shares, but also, no errors...

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks!

He will receive the packages today according to the track and trace.

Everyone will get their tracking later today. Just a quick note, Gridseed sent them bulk packed, not in individual boxes, as you can see from the below photo.

This is why when you receive they will not be in Gridseed boxes.

I have no idea why they sent them like this this time.

I feel with you and wouldn't want to be packing them :(
I guess cost - no boxes and no need to pack them individually saves time and money but should increase efficiency.

yup we are having to cut up all the polystyrene into individual squares to make sure there is no damage in transit. All very annoying

patience my friend, emails are coming to everyone.

Your order is not pending, you need to check order history status to see real status.

If it is not marked shipped yet that is because we haven't got through the pile of paper to your order to change status. I assure you though your order has shipped.

I don't know but I'm not worried at all. You have handled previous GB perfectly and this one isn't any different if not better :)

I have checked  My Account and it states "pending" so most likely you didn't get to my name yet :) No surprise, my payslip is always at the end so I'm used to that :)

Many thanks for coming back to me :)

Again Holland is a 3 day service, including the shipping day. Some countries will get Saturday delivery, others Monday. It depends on your  local courier.

Good news on round 3. Gridseed have shipped already so we expect receipt early.

Got my package(germany)! :D

But: your website said: power unit incl. - I only got usb/mini cables:

Quote
1 x Gridseed miner

1 x mini USB to USB cable

1 x Power pack

I'm trying to power it with my active-usb-power-supply (around 60W), but the controller won't hash -  I filled BTC AND LTC ( I only need to hash LTC) but it is doing nothing

Hashing on Windows but not Linux or not on controller board?

Windows seems fine (http://cryptomining-blog.com/1461-updated-cgminer-3-7-2-for-windows-scrypt-mining-on-gridseed-5-chip-gc3355-asics/)

but the same setup using the controller doesn't start hashing (I also tried to follow this guide https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=482352.0 but I cant find any upgrade firmware button)

will now test it on my raspberry

didn't expect I'd have to wire the barrelplugs?!?!

outside (sleeve) barrelplug = -V = black or white wire
inside barrelplug = +V = red wire

is that correct?

do you have to solder those connections + shrinkplastic ?

Typo in the pricing I think:

"1 Gridseed GBP 100
1 Gridseed with all accessories GBP 1110"

That is some accessories pack!
