I think members who apply for merit source qualification should have a uniform standard. Otherwise it may cause some merit source abuse smerit. I suggest trying to consider candidates for new merit sources from the following aspects:
1. The number of new merits, merit sources need get at least 50-100 merit from other members.
2. A good posting record, the content of the posts should be objective and fair. Good reputation.
3. Local Board merit sources can be voted by Local Board members. To prevent voted fraud, members are eligible to vote.
4. Supervising mercit sources by DT members，when it is found that there is abuse of the merits, should cancel the merit source and give the red trust.
5. For inactive merit sources should be disqualified in time, such as who don’t send smerit for a long time or won’t log in for a long time.

We really need some more merit sources, especially in local board.
I have seen huge changes in our local thread too. People used to spam for increasing activity while they are now trying to increase the quality of their post.

Have you seen MadZ' Unofficial merit source application thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2823944.0)? I don't think it's currently being maintained, but it has more unprocessed merit source applications.

That's not possible, and not needed. Everybody receives merit from different sources for slightly different reasons, and on average that's totally fine.

Thanks for your work trying to improve the forum. It has been said that adding merit sources is not a priority for theymos but I think it can only be positive for the system. I hope he takes a look and adds at least some.

Hopefully he will add all who applied because the system needs even more than 12 new merit sources. Exceptional posters don’t have a problem ranking up but for good and ok posters it takes ages, especially when they reach member status.

It would be great if we had a source of merit in the Portuguese section. Maybe something like this would encourage the creation of more posts and more users would write in that section.

As well theymos already added 36 merit source, so I don't think he will add more recently. And I believe there are also few from this list. Whoever got merit source he should locked his thread by the way. I am going to locked this thread now. We will look on future.
