Title: Yahoo Japan to Launch Crypto Exchange
Post by: idex100 on September 17, 2018, 09:49:21 PM
The Financial Service Agency FSA (the top financial regulatory agency) in Japn has revealed plans by Yahoo Japan to launch a crypto-currency exchange platform within Japan and extended to other parts of the world. Currently, FSA has received at least 160 applications from different companies to launch their own exchange. It will be noted that Bitbox, (launched by Line Corp) had its license approved by FSA and they are currently operational overseas.
Yahoo, unlike facebook and Gmail seem to be less critical about crypto-currency, Yahoo Finance is already reporting several crypto projects in development, their interest in launching a crypto exchange will certainly be a welcome development and could drive crypto adoption as it shows cryptos in a better light.
What is your opinion on this? I would love to hear your thoughts.

I dont think that this news will affect any good for the market as today market is down more then 3 to 5% and what is the reason dont know but normal is that short term traders have booked profit.

This news will only be good when they get approval and yahoo Japan comes open with ICO for their exchange.

Yahoo Japan is a very different company from Yahoo Global. In both administrative and corporate matters. That was clear when Yahoo was sold. And the main thing is that Yahoo Japan belongs to SoftBank and Altaba.

SoftBank is a giant on the internet. It has participation in a hundred companies including Uber, Cruiser and several internet sales companies. Altaba has a very large slice in Alibaba. One of the largest commerce sites in the world.

This for me is much more than a move from an internet portal. It is a movement of large conglomerates filling a potential in cryptocurrencies as a means of payment. And opening the possibility of its adoption by several companies.

Altaba (https://www.nasdaq.com/symbol/aaba)

True words
There has to be something practical that drives the market
Just a news of something not yet done!
This does not benefit the market anyway.

OK, but the fact remains: it's a big name and if it'll launch indeed a crypto exchange, it will give even more legitimacy to Bitcoin and help even more with the awareness and trust.
I think that's a very good news.

now the crypto exchange business is popular
anyone who holds an ICO surely they need their coins to be exchanged with BTC or ETH, then in each listing process, they must pay the relevant exchanger
so far the competition for ICO has been very tight
while competition as an exchanger, is still wide open and very profitable

Nice analysis but even if Yahoo Japan is a different company, it stills has the name of Yahoo which is a big company and a trusted enough one.
In addition, this will make other big companies get more interested in cryptocurrencies  :)

I do not doubt the development of Japan with all its technology, surely many large companies use crypto in transactions.
The policy of Yahoo really deserves to be appreciated, with this step there will certainly be a lot of support and eventually more and more communities.

Effect won't take place immediately. This news is for long term and we know on how Japan is one of the most crypto friendly countries in the world. Rating this as a whole, its a good news when there are names like these when they are adopting bitcoin. Don't look at the point for quick profits because you're going to be the same with those folks who are looking to crypto as a rich scheme market and expects rapid effect if there are important news like this.

Woah, very informative. Thank you for clarifying that. I'm guessing this move is different from Yahoo global's plans to sell crypto through its app?

But yeah, either way, I don't think it's as big as large conglomerates lining up to support crypto as a means of payment. It's Japan, where crypto regulations are basically as clear-cut as they can be for the first time ever. Companies know that there's a lot of money to be made off this fresh market, so I'd say this is just another money-making business move, not an idealistic one. It's good for crypto regardless.

Following happening from the past I have noticed that yahoo have been cryptocurrency friendly, and launching their own exchange will be a big development and will further strengthen the adoption of cryptocurrency by many potential users. This is one great news yahoo unlike others e.g Facebook welcome and promote cryptocurrency ads on the site.

Well its pretty obvious by now that this news didn't put a significant dent on the market because its like this news was 3 weeks ago but the market didn't move a bit. However, this is what we all love about Japan though, they are really setting the bar high and carrying the torch for crypto/blockchain to move forward. Japan’s Prime Minister Appoints Pro-Blockchain Figure as Minister of Science, Tech, IT (https://cointelegraph.com/news/japans-prime-minister-appoints-pro-blockchain-figure-as-minister-of-science-tech-it), so its going to be very interesting as all eyes are set on Japan as the leader of this new revolution.

This could be a turning point for yahoo. They have been an underdog for quite awhile after being beaten but the development of google and facebook. IF they end up connected to crypto which is the future of finance, they could really be earning some users to them again. Security is one of the best that they should offer to gain trust from us.

Yahoo Global is still a big name in the Internet Industry. Yes, this will not affect the market, but this might start a new era of legalization of Cryptos and making it more appealing to the masses.

Surely, many people will be interested in entering Cryptos if they here names of Big Internet Companies like Yahoo.

Untill they have a working exchange. Lets wait and watch.

This is the most technology forward thing coming out of Yahoo since they launched Yahoo Screen a few years back. Screen ended up failing because it could generate enough content or users. Cryptocurrency has similar challenges but the cult-like following of crypto ensures a greater opportunity for success if they can get the technology and distribution right.

Launching in Asia makes sense, but to be clear they're buying a 40% stake in an existing exchange...not launching brand new.

I hope this has the opposite affect as the "banning of Crypto Ads" by big conglomerates, where one starts a specific action and then the
competition does not want to lag behind, so a chain reaction of similar actions follows. Most of these big conglomerates look at the moves made by other companies and then they do the same.  ::)

We just need one spark to start the wild fire.  ;D

Great Achievement i like it because if every country have their own exchange then people of the country will more trust worthy and if A technological country like Japan is know that it is good for the economy and crypto currencies are increasing day by day while if more of the countries launch their own exchanges and ICO are also started with this aim that crypto exchanges will be started.

it's very positive, whether it's for Yahoo or crypto itself. For Yahoo, with the large public interest in crypto, their interest will indirectly make people return to their platforms. and for crypto, the more platforms that accept them, the greater the enthusiasm of people for crypto.

Yes, we all know Yahoo has changed ownership and with him launching the Crypto exchange, it will be good for both Yahoo and Crypto. Both have similarities to rise and indeed the launch / collaboration must be carried out solely for the purpose of embracing more customers or users who will come using their platform and also crypto of course.

It gets more better since they will be extending their services to other parts of the world. Lets see what happens after everything has been launched.

It certainly is a huge company and big companies implementing bitcoin is what is needed right now for bitcoin and the cryptocurrencies.

So that they open a new exchange of Cryptocurrency, of course this will give crypto traders an option where they will buy their coins. and I hope there will be more and more large companies joining Cryptocurrency, so Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency are growing faster.

Yet another good news toward mass adoption. To add to it, a cryptocurrency friendly country, Japan, will be launching it. Hence, we can expect great things from it.
I dont think this news has been able to push the price of Bitcoin in anyway. I hate to sound a little bit pessimistic here but that's my truth. Japan is a known bitcoin friendly country. I don't think any news coming from there will impact majorly on bitcoin. We should be having positive news on bitcoin from sworn bitcoin enemy countries if we are to get the mass adoption we seek for bitcoin.

Do not believe on every story that you read over on the internet, it's just deceiving our mind to fall on their hidden agenda so that they could get a good profit from our ignorance. I think everything in the market was being manipulated by some high ranking rich people in the community. But Japan really has it again and i think it will bring a big impact to the community.

You do make a point about not believing in every story posted online cause some people use it as a means of manipulating the market price but I want you to know that the possibility of this exact story to be genuine is 90% because Japan have proofed to be a welcoming and friendly national even during the Chinese government rejection.

Bitcoin would have to be tiny really for news about just another exchange to really move the price. Maybe some years ago it would. But these days the market is much bigger and more mature I think.

Meh, Microsoft announced they would accept bitcoin and that did nothing for the price. Microsoft stopped taking bitcoin and that did nothing to the price. I don’t think it really matters at all.

maybe this doesn't change too much in exchange, but this will be one of crypto's future supports because YAHOO is one of the most widely used in the world at least everyone in the world can know crypto technology through YAHOO and this will bring in new investors

Despite the fact that the cryptocurrencies market is much bigger and mature as you said. I will never ignore the power posed by news/information had if I were you and i want you to ask yourself why did some project owner do crypto challenge/airdrop to increase their people visibility, traffic and price.

We all know that when bitcoin was introduced in 2009 a decade ago everyone was in against of bitcoin and that time bitcoin was completely decentralised crypto currency and there was no authorised regulating body over bitcoin but with time bitcoin has made tremendous progress and has made millions of investors around the world who are investing into bitcoin and then with time some nations also realised the potential of bitcoin and legalised it in their nation and its very happy news that yahoo japan is now opening crypto exchange.

My opinion about this is that it's nice to know more people know about btc to avoid being fooled by the unreal things like on the net.But there are still some things that are not as sure as the incognito mode is typical.

I dont think that this news will affect any good for the market as today market is down more then 3 to 5% and what is the reason dont know but normal is that short term traders have booked profit.

This news will only be good when they get approval and yahoo Japan comes open with ICO for their exchange.

I am not agree with you. Maybe it will  not effect the market today but it will in near future. Japan is very important and rich country. And also those kind of good news is opening our cryptocurrency markets path in positive ways. It will not happen in one day, we have to wait with patience. The future is our..

I often see that Yahoo has become a partner of several ICOs, but I just heard that Yahoo Japan will launch crypto currencies, and in my opinion this is not news that will have a big impact on the price of crypto currencies

it simply tells you that, while certain people are still blinded with or by the view of the general public on the current issues and challenges they face and how it has made them not to want to invest in the blockchain and its related transactions. it is also making differences in certain areas and not been mentioned in the public until it is 100 percent ready for human usage.

It looks like Yahoo wants to be at the top once again. If you can remember, Yahoo is the top companies in Internet world until Google took the place. It is a good news for all crypto community that Yahoo will join the bandwagon of cryptocurrency.

It's nice to hear that Yahoo Japan gonna launch a cryptocurrency. Though it's just a news which isn't done yet. If it will take place crypto market gets some benefits at the same time investors will show much interest to be part of this market. So I think it will be a great time for the crypto world if Yahoo Japan launch soon.

Every popular company that will launch their own crypto exchange seems to be a good news.

They will bring new customers that can invest to their preferred assets in crypto. And since they are very well known not just an email provider, search engine, they have a lot of things that they also cover. At least yahoo japan is bringing the name of Yahoo! as a whole there that people can trust.

and in my opinion this is not news that will have a big impact on the price of crypto currencies
Why not?

Meh, Microsoft announced they would accept bitcoin and that did nothing for the price.

From what I remember in like 2013 or so that actually caused a noticeable drop because all of the payment processors just insta-sold BTC to USD at the time. So the market expected some sell pressure presumably.
