Title: Apart from trading where else to use crypto?
Post by: olumyd on October 02, 2018, 10:56:14 PM
More than 90% of ICOs (still a wide margin) lack pure utility aside from trading values. Among freelancers, people may trade one crypto for another, but in a brick and mortar business scenario, crypto has little to no impact. For example if I walk into a store I could get the credit card and a few other payment options. Still, with the over abundance of crypto technologies and their native tokens, only a handful of stores have barcodes for bitcoin and a few other payment coin types.

I think we need more radical real world businesses tokenizing their products and using this 'tokenization' as a means to garner support for mainstream crypto adoption. Like rewarding people loyalties for using their products.

Does anyone else here share the same concerns, or do you know a coin that is owned by real businesses for such purposes?

Because of crypto value volatility, business sectors won't risk tokenizing their product. Maybe few decades from now when adoption rate will reach 100% and when crypto values achieve stability, I bet that's the right time for some businesses to make use of the technology at the highest level possible. Don't worry we are moving forward to that moment in time that everything we purchase will be tokenized and hoping that it would give positive impact to both consumers and merchants.

In fact there are many places ( mainly online ), where people can pay with cryptocurrency, but to pay milk and bread in your local store you will need to wait some time. Actually it all depends from country to country, there is places you can pay with crypto by buying coffee, donut or even bread&milk and make haircut maybe. It is important to know we are just at the very beginning in the application of this technology, maybe 1% of world population is using cryptocurrency in one way or another.

Fiat is still main currency, and it will be probably for a long time - big changes do not happen overnight, they may last for decades.

mainstream cryptocurrency adoption would indirectly rise along with the development of cryptocurrencies spaces. As cryptocurrencies technologies In general, become mature, the scalability problem has been fixed or improved and the UX design is friendly toward the normal user. It will automatically help the crypto adoption to rise. All we need to so is a patient since cryptocurrency still at early age.

From here in the philippines, we can use crypto for paying our bills like our electricity bills and for anything that are part of the system. I think not far from now Bitcoin will be paying anything in the Philippines.

Oh yeah badly have these concerns all the time. I mean I cant imagine myself getting into store and buying everything with the crypto currencies or also popping into any store out there and then getting payment solution in the form of crypto. In my country its rare to find and also it is so abundant here that I will always need to ask the shop owner or till operator that whether he/she will accept the crypto currencies. Most of the times, the answer would be no, I dont know what you talking about, what the hell is that and much more!! So its shameful that how we dont have any properly designated systems for this purpose. I guess with the time this may change but how much time will it take, is the mystery.

You are kinda wrong about this approach. We don't need "tokenization"...We need bitcoinization. ;D
No ICO token can gain the amount of trust/authority bitcoin already has.It would take them years to build such trust and authority.

Here in my country I can freely use crypto as monthly payment for my billings such as Electricity, water, internet, savings, and tuition fee and those altcoins that I can able to use was Bitcoin, Ethereum, Xrp(ripple), and Bch these are the altcoins that being accepted in the exchange we had it here in my place actually.

One of the biggest positives with crypto is worldwide transfers.  Try sending 10 million dollars from a United States bank to a Chinese one.  You will have to fill out a ton of forms, gey questioned, and have to wait  days for the transfer to clear.  With crypto it takes 5 minutes and you don't need anyone's permission.

Its hard to find any other ways to easily spend your crypto currencies. I have always been looking for such opportunities because now I am really done with the crypto currency earnings. I am literally holding more than enough number of altcoins in my ether wallet and literally some of them I dont even know about. Every coin is worth something ranging from few dollars to couple of thousands. But what to do with them? If I need money then I just trade them with the BTC and later sell them for the fiat. Thats the longest process I always need to follow if I want to use that cold stored money. But thats the worst experience. Things should have been very easy but they aren't in the crypto space.

The advent of the blockchain industry has paved the way for an effective global digital economy which surpasses geographical boundaries, however, the erratic nature of the crypto market has caused more panic than necessary resulting in a stunted growth in mainstream adoption. I think it will take more time before we see real businesses adopt cryptocurrencies as a payment option.

I'm actually very glad you expressed this very skeptical thought openly and honestly, because I don't read a lot of that here unfortunately.  Admittedly, I don't visit the altcoin section often because of how much spam there is there, but when I have browsed there it's been unquestioning hype.

I can see the utility of bitcoin, and I've used it to buy things online.  If a business can't accept credit cards or PayPal for whatever reason, they can always accept bitcoin.  Now, what about the rest of the altcoins that have their own blockchains?  IMO, they're mostly useless in practical terms.  And these tokens that run on ETH?  I have what I consider an outsider's opinion, because my understanding of how those tokens work is abysmal.  What I see are a bunch of scammy projects trying to force "tokenization" on things where it doesn't seem appropriate to do so (in my novice opinion, again).

I think the ICO market is going to come crashing down eventually precisely because there's no real-world use for these things.  Right now there's just a bunch of speculators trying to buy the next bitcoin--and it's not going to happen.  Once everyone realizes these tokens are useless and worthless, it's game over, just like those worthless internet stocks in the 1990s based on businesses which never had a shot at making a profit.  And I have the same feeling about the fate of most altcoins as well.

We'll see.  As they say, the market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent.  The only way I can see to stay solvent is not to invest in these tokens, and the market for them is extremely irrational to say the least.

Since projects like MFCHAIN, PUNDI-X, UTRUST and some other unnamed payment systems makeup 1.9% of the commerce and advertising section of ICOs (based on funds collected i.e crowdfunding), I am wondering why only bitcoin is used for payment in the Phillipines. It seems we are still far away from adoption. Just thinking, although I forgot to add DASH (my ex) to my list considering it's a legacy blockchain. But really you guys should check out MFCHAIN, it could be a rivalry payment system as it does not require a hardware, making it easy to use by merchants.

I think because of how little much is known about blockchain and cryptocurrencies, - at least in my  part of the world- what I see as the way forward for mainstream cryptoadoption is having projects that run on blockchain and allow users to make use of the platform without really having any idea of how it works. Even though a number of projects out there are adopting this method, it's still something that isn't so widespread yet.
Another method for adoption is when already existing platforms or markets employ the blockchain.  I think Walmart, Maersk, Hooch and a number of others are doing something in that area.  You gotta love Hooch though.  I mean, spend on a 60% off base price and get 10% back, with free drinks too.  What more could you ask from a rewards program!

why do we need that?
and more importantly what would a "real world business" gain by tokenizing their product?
i honestly can not see the benefit in that apart from small failing businesses being able to use the hype of the cryptocurrencies in form of an ICO to raise a lot of money and cover their asses!

I have been following Mfchain and pundi X among projects aiming at bringing mass crypto adoption, after reading their whitepaper I see mfchain having a better prospect. Instead of trying to tonkenize mainstream businesses, the crypto projects and ICOs should focus on bringing real value to people by solving everyday problems thereby, giving people genuine reasons to used cryptocurrency.

I can't really suggest using it for shopping and such since there really isn't a single place for you to spend it to your heart's content. One good usage of bitcoin is to store value and that's pretty much it. Basically what we need now are places to spend but due to the lack of merchants wanting to accept bitcoins as-is, we're in a situation wherein we can only use it for speculative and safekeeping purposes. While there are payment processors and concierges available to cater your needs, it's still better to use bitcoin directly rather than rely on a third-party provider.

There are a few good uses for cryptos such as substitute for fiat currencies; also due to its almost immutable blockchain there is a possibility to store documents and have cryptographic messaging, not to be said about more advanced Dapps that can provide newer advantages in financial, medical, VR, shipping and many other industries.

A mode of storage that depends on the whims of the market,  how safe and sustainable  can that be? Adoption is the only sustainable future for the blockchain,  and if we don't find places where the blockchain is applicable in our everyday life,  we may never see that future.

So I read this thread and found it quite interesting and went ahead to do some research. I discovered that companies like Walmart, CheapAir and some Universities e.g. University of Nicosa, Cumbria University accept cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin) as a form of payment.

More so, in the hospitality industry, Hooch for example is expanding their reward program by introducing the Tapcoin project which is a way to incentivize consumers/customers with a 10% rebate, while others like TUI Swap, ZoomAway among others in the same niche are beginning to embrace blockchain. So IMO, its only a matter of time before other traditional companies in various sectors begin to adopt blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies for payment in mainstream.

I share the same point of view. I also think that it's not a very good thing that most of ICOs are just raising money, but the token is not really needed in their project. They launch it just for fun, hoping it will grow in price as people trade it. At the same time, adoption of cryptos as payment methods is taking a lot of time and occuring rather slow. Moreover, as we saw the market's high volatility, it is understandable why solid companies are not willing take the risks. That's why I was rather skeptical about ICOs before I was hired by one that is trying to contribute to adoption of payments in cryptos in the field of real estate and car sales.

For me bitcoin is money. I use it whenever I need to spend money. So your question could be phrased as "What can you do with money?" As far as ICOs and alt-coins... Those are scams. So an ICO is used to get your money. That is what it is for and once you have them they generally have no value.

I like your straightforward thinking. But I don't think the idea of having decentralized applications and a utility token to run their platform is an utter mistake. However, what's likely to be a mistake is that these ICOs have shifted their focus from building a useful technology to building a trading instrument which in every case has a horrifying ripple effect on the whole crypto-digital ecosystem.

Bitcoin should remain as payment crypto or a store of value. Ethereum and other dApp developers should seek to create useful and usable applications. They should all stop fooling around thinking their token will become the next bitcoin, that ship has sailed already and now the spotlight should be more on the blockchain industry - this is still a phenomenon with a diverse potential.

I have already seen games ICOs which you could use the tokens later inside the game to buy stuff, maybe membership, benefits, etc... But on the practice I don't know if it worked. The goal of many ICOs look interesting, but most of them fail.

Your idea of "tokenizing" products already exist, but not with Crypto-Currency. Aliexpress has this feature, you collect coins daily and exchange these coins later for a product or for a discount. To implement Crypto-Currency on it would be interesting, but I'm not sure if it would work, as they would be giving free money to customers this way... Because if these tokens were a Crypto-Currency they could be exchanged into another currencies, so not necessarily used to buy a product inside the shop.

There are some token that could be used in their online shop if I am correct.
And some shops already accept crypto as a payment and also some ICO or token could be used in their platform for example if their project is mining you could use their token to mine some crypto.

For now it looks like we are out of options. Because there is no inter and intra-connected protocols or infrastructure throughout the world which can help us perform the smooth actions of using the crypto currencies. I am not talking about the exchanges, trading or investment which is we are doing currently through the public ledger no matter what. I am talking about use of crypto for different public services, lets say transportation payment, paying at the malls, stores, government salaries etc etc. This sounds pretty impossible right now but however that is what really expected from the crypto by this time which we lack really.
It looks like we dont have any ways to invest in crypto yet.

If we start thinking about the bitcoin as the actual digital currency then there loads of places where you can easily spend your money through the bitcoin. In fact there are more than enough online stores in all the categories which are accepting the bitcoin as mode of payment and thus making bitcoin as their primary currency. Not only this, there are many service providers who are actually bridging the gap between real world stores and the crypto coins. For example, rent project MOZO is about to have rewards for shopping in the stores affiliated with them. This way you can spend your mozo tokens with them easily. This is just one example but surely there are many more like that and with the time this frequency will rise too.

i think that is mainly the reason why companies are introducing their own ICO, they wanted to create crypto-based payment while accumulating value on the crypto market, that could be an investment at the same time, but because tokens are not yet stable as bitcoin, they cannot push through with their agendas, though some establishments are accepting bitcoin, they are forced to trade their tokens for bitcoin, as long as the companies that are eyeing on this potentiality of crypto, they will not stop to create their own tokens.

Having understudied the adoption of the token system by mega industries with the focus on the volatility of the hospitality market, In a short two years since launch, HOOCH in comparison with other hospitality providers has disrupted the scene with the tokenization of its payment and reward systems. It has also garnered the support of many top hospitality companies. Having already built a network and offering perks today at over 100,000+ top hotels, restaurants and bars globally. HOOCH is unlocking new venues and growing its user base at an accelerated pace using Tapcoin on the hoochapp. So I believe they amongst others I have understudied are already using their tokenization as a means to garner support for mainstream crypto adoption.

Crypto overall is still on the development stage. The main technology is clear and working, but it`ll take years for it to spread to the real world and make real impact.
Be patient, after all there are still shops that accept only cash. Even the credit card adoption rate is not 100% at this point, what do you expect of crypto?

For example if I walk into a store I could get the credit card and a few other payment options. Still, with the over abundance of crypto technologies and their native tokens, only a handful of stores have barcodes for bitcoin and a few other payment coin types.

I think we need more radical real world businesses tokenizing their products and using this 'tokenization' as a means to garner support for mainstream crypto adoption. Like rewarding people loyalties for using their products.

Does anyone else here share the same concerns, or do you know a coin that is owned by real businesses for such purposes?

In my country, there are many companies that sell their product with BTC. Even it is possible to buy a house. Global big companies do not accept BTC generally at the moment but this is going to change in a short time period.

There are only a few platforms that makes use of cryptocurrency as a mode of payment as such the intent of most of the tokens right now are to be used in the mainstream market which would take time, though there are cryptocurrencies that can only be used in there platforms they are quite few and most of them are trading or social media platforms.

I think if many merchants who accept cryptocurrency as a payment system then there will be some people who make the system you want, till now cryptocurrency was still limited to use as a payment system, moreover here in my country none of the merchants allow buyers by using bitcoin or altcoin, unfortunately.

The development of a system will be factored if the old system is not feasible to use so there will be a lot of people who think a loud to make new innovations to be received well. Need a more time to make cryptocurrency be made for everyone as mainstream payment system, and might we will headed there.

Aside from the lack of usability I think that even the owners or the hodlers of the coin are partly at blame here. Remember that they are also Hodling it as they hope that it will have a higher value compared to what it is today, they are simply making it as an asset for investment. And even if most of them are pure speculation they still think that their coins are not for what they are use too but as some kind of investment vehicle which they need to hold too in order not to get left behind when the price rally takes place in the market.

There are some token that could be used in their online shop if I am correct.
And some shops already accept crypto as a payment and also some ICO or token could be used in their platform for example if their project is mining you could use their token to mine some crypto.
Like which one? Most of the ones you have seen so far only came up with some empty promises and they really do not have any serious product or an ecommerce platform except for the fact that, they were just looking for those to deceive and then take away their money in the long run. I have seen so many of them and that is what they are just good for. If we are talking bitcoin now, I would say this is obvious as we get to see so many online merchants accepting it for payment of goods.

Look at the first page of this topic, one person said that in the Philippines it is already possible to pay part of the public services cryptocurrency. I think in the near future this will happen around the world. Cryptocurrency more and more penetrates into our lives. The main thing is to have more projects of really useful people.

There is a huge difference between the possible ways of using tokens and cryptocurrencies. When I went to Greece I was surprised when I saw a couple of places which were accepting many different cryptocurrencies for their service. I guess it's because they use a payment processor such as CoinGate which takes care of everything. Many people try to take advantage of the ICO bubble. Most of the tokens out of the market are useless because the same service could be provided without the token. Using tokens requires the user to know how to use cryptocurrencies (Waves, Ethereum, NEO and so on).

Relatively, not everyone here seems to understand my point of view. Interesting perspectives though, but the bone of contention is whether or not we should continue to rely on BTC for our transactions when there are so many more tokens out there with payment as their intrinsic value proposal. These are the obvious farce when you put them side-by-side with BTC.

My suggestion is to find a project which has good track records in the traditional market and create a value-based service through the blockchain and incentivize their consumer base to patronize more of their products. For example, if Mercedes should tokenize a part of their company shares, and use dividends to reward stakeholders based on the proof of stake algorithm. Blockchain will reinforce the confidence in their service chain (not that it isn't good), but leveraging new technologies indeed is one sure way to move forward in a rapidly evolving global economy.

So, again, does anyone know a real-world business with such provisions already?

Trading is not the only place to use crypto currencies. Though the adoption of bitcoin and other crypto currencies are slow and most of the merchants don't accept crypto currencies, there are still loads of online sites out there that accepts crypto currencies. You can spend it to buy goods from amazon or other major retail store indirectly buy buying gift cards from those sites that accept crypto currencies. Bitcoin is still new. Just give it more time and then people will start accepting it as a mainstream form of online currency.

Mate, I understand what you are talking about. In real life crypto has very restricted area to use. If you don't want to send transborder payment, invest in ico or play decentralized game, then crypto isn't that useful. I hope that in future things will be changed about it,but currently crypto isn't that popular in real business. It seems for me that paying in BTC for coffee cool, but transaction can be long and you should pay high fee. The best application for me is crypto backed loan, it is quite useful

I've been using Crypto as a means of payment for years now, mainly Bitcoins, in my country you can actually buy a lot of things with crypto, this is probably due to the fact that i'm mining.
This is all online, i've never bought anything Face to Face using Crypto and 99% of the time i'm using Bitcoin because all the stores only accept Bitcoin, i'd love to see stores accept Litecoins, i've had to Email the "Bitcoin payment provider" tons of times because the transactions can sometime take ages and often you only have 10-15 Minutes on you to; 1 Send Bitcoin, 2 get a "1" confirmation before the time runs out! however on some smaller purchases there seems to be a 0 conf confirmation.

using Bitcoin as payment is great most of the times, but i do think Litecoins would be better.

Well, that reason you have given with ICOs using shifting focus from building a useful technology to just coming up with a shit trading instrument is the main reason it has been an utter mistake over the years and I totally agree with RodeoX. Altcoins have only been a distraction; even those without any idea just come up with whatever they feel like, without a product, just empty promises all in the name of trying to get rich from gullible people's sweat.

Sure, some altcoins may have been an exception but a larger percentage of them are shitty. Like he said, bitcoin is money and I have been using it to purchase for a while even if the real life usage is not enormous yet. I do not have anything against altcoins, and as long as someone somewhere feels it is right to give me their money so as to increase my bitcoin stash in the long run, then I am game!

I find very surprising the lack of vision businessmen, because while it is true that they will be risking some money if they decide to accept cryptocurrencies, it is as if they only see the negative aspects of bitcoin and they do not see the positives, if they accepted bitcoin and they keep it, it is true that they will take a risk because they could lose money but if they held their bitcoin it's entirely possible that they could get incredible benefits out of it if they held their coins for long enough.

I agree, if more than 0.02 percent of people use crypto for real life purchases the demand and volume go up, and it will lead to more retailers accepting it as currency, an upward spiral. Right now too many people are busy with the pure speculative part than using it as actual money.

Don't get me wrong I may be one of them, but I think it's essentially wrong to think too far even for a technology as nascent as the blockchain let alone cryptocurrencies for which more than 95% of them lack real-world utility.

Why do you buy something you can't use and that doesn't have any real value.
All these projects have one goal: to take your money then dissapear.
Asides bitcoin, and probably may be Ethereum for its smart contract, I really do not see any crypto out there that has any real life usage as far as I am concerned and all we keep having and all they keep providing is just some speculative market for them and as long as that remains, it makes them utterly useless. For bitcoin however, I guess this is the real deal and one we could say at least, we still easily use it as a form of payment and globally supported at large and I wonder why anyone would want to drop that for just some flimsy altcoins.

I'm using cryptocurrencies as a store of value and as a backup. If anything goes wrong in my life there's always that small amount of money that nobody will be able to take from me.
Sounds like a plan but you cannot be sure about that no one could take away from you. Cryptos are more vulnerable for theft and hacking like any other store of value. But, cold storage and having multi key wallets may enable you to protect your cryptos more easily.

I think the easiest way is to get paid or pay with crypto. You can paint, draw, write, code and many other digital talents you can do and get paid for it, aside from getting paid you can also pay stuff with it. Fiverr accepts bitcoin and you can pay other people to do stuff for you that way, plus expedia accepts bitcoin which means you can pay your vacation and hotel stuff with bitcoin.

Bitcoin is a currency at its heart and "trading" is just making it like a comodity, if you keep using it like a currency you can pay for many stuff, whatever you use dollar/euro there you can use bitcoin as well, it just depends on the acceptence.

You are right, we need more shops and institutions where you can use cryptocurrency as a means of payment, but you need to understand that there are many factors that do not allow it to be done so quickly. It takes time for cryptocurrencies to gain even more popularity and recognition from the community and from different countries.

There's so many ways to do in crypto not only trading we can use crypto to buy anything we want or to use it as payment that accept cryptocurreny as a payment.
There are transactionary purposes which include any transaction of money like transferring the amount from one country to another, in purchasing of the goods and services and to save value.

There are people who have their extra money saved in banks and there are those who invest in Bitcoin to save it also keeping in mind the return that could be earned simultaneously. To pay bills and to solely hold it for future purposes that is long term investment. There are so many uses as the technology expands.

I have been using bitcoin to purchase vacations via expedia. I have went to ukraine this past summer and I have paid my hotels in kiev and lviv via expedia and paid in bitcoins for them.

I have also cashed out some bitcoins while I was there to spend on some extra stuff I did not foresee, there was too many great restaurants in lviv so I had to spend a little too much because I thought I probably won't go there again for a long time and just go other countries so why not just do everything I can while there. There was couple places that took bitcoin so that was great. Basically my vacations are fueled by bitcoin and directly, not cash out and purchase but really just pay in bitcoin.

Buying stuff that I need like gadget or for my daily goods. Swap my altcoins through Shapeshift to Bitcoin and we are good to go. There are lots of ways to wasting your cryptocurrency, from shopping until gambling that you can do it all of them.
Crypto can work as real currency which can used to buy different stuffs online. You can make it bitcoin and change as fiat. Using it for a gambling site to win more and earn more without counting your lost. I used crypto by investing in potential coin and hold it for long term. When you do not want to trade, you can stop and keep it on your account because that might worth high profit when you need it.

I find very surprising the lack of vision businessmen, because while it is true that they will be risking some money if they decide to accept cryptocurrencies, it is as if they only see the negative aspects of bitcoin and they do not see the positives, if they accepted bitcoin and they keep it it is true that they will take a risk because they could lose money but if they held their bitcoin it's entirely possible that they could get incredible benefits out of it if they held their coins for long enough.

I do not think that this is a case in point since I personally believe and based on the market drive and speculations, that the market would maintain its volatility because of the competitiveness of the market even at the height of adoption. For example, the USA alone has 8% of it's population already owning tokenized systems, this hasn't affected the adoption rate or helped the volatility problem. Please note that they are already OWNING. Also note that MERCHANTS AND INVESTORS are high-risk takers therefore tokenizing their systems would not be a problem. I believe that the challenge here is the ability for the already tokenized systems to reach down to the RETAIL MERCHANTS. Considering the example of The Tapcoin which is already used in various hotels and can even be gifted and used to redeem free drinks and has its application -hoochapp- on both ios and android platforms. We must also note that the volatility is not because of the lack of adoption but the consistent Airdrops by competing products. It is just as volatile as the Foreign Exchange system. Let us design systems that are low-end-user-friendly and copletely break the fiat driven business protocol. Let's not portray bitcoin and other crypto currencies as a store of value but a value exchange system.
I'll love to know if there are other projects that have answered these needs.
BREAK THE MERCHANT-MONOPOLY
GIVE THE PURCHASING POWER TO THE CONSUMERS.( make them want it).
Else it would become another GOLD that cannot be made available to everyone except at a particular very high cost.

tokens and coins besides being used in trading on the market it is possible to invest coins and tokens only, so they only buy to save in the hope that the value will increase for the next few years. coins and tokens can be spent on real goods needs but again the infrastructure from crypto which supports the trading of goods is still lacking and the value of the crypto which is still very volatile makes this still rarely used

Paypal accounts are getting banned left and right for promoting ideas that aren't politically correct.

https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/alex-jones-sue-paypal-infowars-website-blocked-a8566226.html

"The lawsuit alleges Silicon Valley firms are 'discriminating against politically conservative entities and individuals'"

Crypto payment platforms will prevent this sort of thing from happening and there will always be a medium to be payed.

You can do almost everything you wish, but usually that happens online, you can book flight tickets, buy things from amazon, etc and etc. Ripple may be used by financial institutes too.
You can own bitcoin debit card and pay with it, I have no idea why you want to harden everything. Is something wrong with paying visa card? Don't tell me anonimity, why the hell anyone wants to purchase potatoe with bitcoin?

unlike a few years ago, now you don't need to be confused about using bitcoin for spending or shopping, the increasing users and good development are so influential that many merchants and agencies start accepting bitcoin. so you don't need to be confused where to use bitcoin..

Doing business in the real world by combining crypto options with business fields that are developed is certainly not easy to do, especially in countries that do not have government legality in crypto use for transaction facilities. so in my opinion to achieve such a goal there needs to be a role for the government especially in terms of crypto legality.

I respect your comment, you have very strong arguments. I have similar opinion, crypto has little or no impact, but that is the start, only a beginning. Bitcoin is good example, where bitcoin was in the beginning, just couple enthusiasts and big will, combined with hard work. You are right and nobody can deny your words, but have in mind that this is only a start. In few years we will see which one from all this tokens will survive, thats possible only with hard work and innovations, after couple years when some of them survive they will start to grow and people will have more trust in those tokens.

Just as usual currency: buy stuff, sell stuff.
Depending on the adoption rate in your country is may be limited mostly to online shopping, though.

the use of Proof of Stake like certain coins is also one of the things that I find interesting. Staking coin then you will get another form of the coin, so you don't get the coin so there is price stability

franlky speaking, its nothing much can do besides trading. no like you can really buy grocery with bitcoin right now, except your country currency is way more volatile compare crypto, it hardly can do anything right now. it might have bigger application in larger scales like international transaction.
There are so many things you can use youth cryptocurrency for. You can use it to pay for services rendered if the person is willing to accept it, you can use it to pay for goods as well and so many other things.

I understand that we are not where we want to be and the market is so young that we have not even seen an extreme real life usage yet, but all that would change gradually as obviously we cannot expect it to just happen overnight.

Personally, I make use of bitcoin to pay my merchants overseas for goods and that has really been able to fill up some gap in transaction problem I have had with banks over the years. That is something!

Every crypto especially the altcoins have major product or idea or service which they back. In order to get access to such services or products, you need to pay with the respective coin or accepted coin. For example, a coin like Docademic (MTC) is used to pay for the medical services on the Docademic ecosystem.

All currencies around the world are traded, why did you thought that bitcoin will be an exception to that rule? Especially when it has been proven to be so profitable for so many people, besides you make it seem as if those that are holding or trading cryptocurrencies come from poor countries and that is simply not the case because the most popular exchanges are in the richest countries around the world.

I don't think that they are ready for receiving the money by using tokenization payment option as you mention. Maybe some store ready but still there are many stores is not ready for this option. But soon, after the store can accept with this technology payment, then we can use the crypto for paying for what we bought. And in time, there will be a coin that can use as a bridge for this payment and that coin will be stable than the other.

I believe that! If we are going to use cryptocurrency as a new way of paying bills and transacting someone else, it can be. However, it is not all necessary products can avail using cryptocurrency. Fiat is always be the main currency where we can use wherever we are. Cryptocurrency adoption may take time depending upon the process of accepting and regulating from it.

You can use the cryptocurrencies just like using fiat currencies, to buying and selling and complete your payments online, whenever the cryptocurrency is supported as a payment method.
Currently, there aren't many marketplaces which support BTC and similar cryptocurrencies, but the usability is going to improve with time.

ICO tokens are meant to be used in their own ecosystem launched by the ICO, but due to lack of the product, the tokens cannot be used in their ecosystem & have no value, hence then the token is left aside for trading which is pumped & dumped by investors to cover their initial capital. Most of the ICOs are offering a similar working product just with few amendments in function which lacks an interest to the public.

This is true. Bitcoin or cryptocurrency is not only for trading it is also effective to use in transactions more especially it is a form of investment. As I have observed, bitcoin or cryptocurrency that was used in doing transactions is an easy way and also ot saves time and effort. Therefore we can ay it is not only for trading but also effective for transactions.

There is a wide utility of the altcoins. For example you can buy parts for your card with autounit, or you can enjoy the benefits of green energy with robotina. But not only that, you can buy mining services for cryptocurrency. So it is a question of what do you need and where you can find it on the blockchain.

I think we just need to give these crypto currencies time and patience. Right now, i see alt coins that build their blockchains around internet servoces like gambling and content. But i think given time, projects will rise that we can eventually use crypto currencies to buy food and services we actually need to survive everyday.

Bitcoin crypto currency aside from trading it will also available for payment over drive-tru from food chain aside from payment directly peer to peer or money transfer if ever Bitcoin become primary use I think some bitcoin organizer are makes a card like credit card that make swipe to machine with bitcoin processing quickly process for payment method not only for food chain  it is also available for shopping mall, hotels restaurant, shipping company and airline company. and also making qua lateral for future loans and real business with provable evidence.

franlky speaking, its nothing much can do besides trading. no like you can really buy grocery with bitcoin right now, except your country currency is way more volatile compare crypto, it hardly can do anything right now. it might have bigger application in larger scales like international transaction.
It is not only in cryptocurrency market but everywhere in the world. In medicine field big distributers will never let small dealers to make big money because they reduce the profit percentage which is not possible for small investors and after some time small investors leave the market. In my opinion small investors should not give attention what big investors do but always focus on their achievements.

Some days ago Ripple CEO announces 3[three] companies which are now using Ripple as a means of payment  https://www.coindesk.com/ripple-event-reveal-3-companies-are-now-using-xrp-for-real-payments/, so, ripple is almost there.

One should know how to maximized the market not only on Trading, HODL, Investment either long term or short term, The issue on how to use your Token in general public is still under studies, not all country or Business community are open foe Crypto exchanges in the market as general usage, This the main issue in term of Regulation by government and, Financial Business community. one should learn the market on Crypto Digital Transaction.

With the passage of time more and more companies will start using and accepting cryptos as their regular currency. Today 3 companies accept Ripple as their mode of payment and tomorrow more companies will follow them, because crypto is the future currency and will be used worldwide without any need of exchange or bank transactions. This is good overall.

I usually use my bitcoin for my daily expenditures. I mostly earn coins from campaigns and cash them out because I have no other job and crypto campaigns are the only source for my income. I am happy because it has given me a job at my home. I am earning quite reasonable money from bounty campaigns. I hope these campaigns will continue forever.

Most of the time crypto is being considered as an asset and sometimes it will be compared to stock exchange market but has a higher volatility rate. It is more risky than stock market exchange but it is also the most profitable compared to stock market exchange in my point of views because of its high volatility rate.

But, the main use of cryptocurrency is not like this because it has its own utilization. As we all know that every ICO project who made their tokens were having a purpose and that is the utilization of the tokens/coins. The utilization will depend on what the project is all about and its demand will depend also its community that will going to utilize the tokens for that project.

If you are going to ask where else to use crypto? The safest answer is that it will depend on the tokens/coins utilization per ICO project.

Yeah you are right we should give time to cryptocurrency and there is no doubt that it will take over the market in the future. We will definitely use cryptos in our local market for our daily needs. Using our cryptos is the actual aim of bitcoin and not earning money. With the passage of time people will enter into crypto world and the use will also increase. I already use my coins for my daily shopping.

I think only few businesses integrated cryptocurrency in their business model. However, this is only applicable and probable in countries where cryptocurrency is supported by people and government. Some companies are still skeptical to use cryptocurrency because of the market volatility.

There are quite a number of online stores that have options for you to pay in to crypto, mostly Bitcoin. The level of acceptance of cryptocurrencies as options for payments is largely dependent on the level of adoption in those countries. If cryptos are popular, you'll more retail outlets and businesses accepting or having options for you to pay in crypto.

Secondly, some altcoins are useful for payments on certain platforms, an example is BNB which is use for payment of fees. Other tokens like OPEN will useful for payment on the blockchain.

Businesses aren't going to tokenize their products unless they have better incentives. There needs to be more services aimed at guiding businesses into the crypto realm, making it more easily digestible for them to understand how they could earn more money by implementing crypto payment options.

There already are quite a few businesses that already accept crypto, which is a good sign. (Expedia and Microsoft are probably the most well-known on the list.)

besides being used for trading maybe you can use bitcoin or cryptocurrency to buy something you want, there are some cases when in the past before the price of bitcoin was as expensive as this, there were cases of people buying pizza using bitcoin so the moment became the history of bitcoin usage despite trading, so You can use cryptocurrency to make whatever payment you want, only the seller must be able to accept cryptocurrency payments.

Tokenizing their products, okay we're done with this. You know how the ICOs conquered this idea but most of them are failure.

No product but still they have tokens for the purpose of trading and that's all. Those blockchain games that have their own tokens and some crypto casino's that held ICO have their own tokens as well. Exchanges, casino's are businesses and look the emergence of creating tokens to provide more capital for their operations.

Yeah they are actually doing this but I think instead of avoiding it they should invest more because volatility is best thing according to me, as it gives us more chances to earn and it gives us more profit for buying at the low price and selling at high, we can buy goods with bitcoin as I use it for shopping and I invest my money into it to store for long time and earn good amount of profit.

Every sad ICo is trying to incorporate their token in their bussines, which in most cases are not needed and current big rypto currencies is enough.

Actually there are services which allows you to buy very expensive cars for crypto this enables you to make " when lambo"  true.
Also i just red that coffe shops are adopting crypto payments in relativley fast pace ( EU).

Blockchain technology is showing its fragility as it is being successfully applied in the management of banking systems and work management. Blockchain technology is truly a revolution in the 4.0 technology era.

There's a lot of use cases in Crypto not just apart of trading, store of value or buy/sel stuff but also a good way to communicate a people. Cryptocurrency is evolving and changing the world for a new order of security and trust which will lead for a better jurisdiction.
Yes probably it is. Aside from cryptocurrency used for trading, it is used in doing transactions such as paying for bills and such. This really happens, and this is a good indication on the part of bitcoin. This is a good start, we should be hopeful that soon enough more and more countries would adopt it.

When we say crypto it is a type of utlity token in which they have their own usages, there some can be use for paying bills, sending money thru

remittances, some was being used for mode of payment in some merchants who accepted it like ethereum, Bch, xrp, and loyal and more.

Real world business does not have nothing to do with cryptocurrencies, any  one that has barcode or accept their payment from customers through Bitcoin or so is doing it by choice and not because it is meant to be done by anyone. You can say so for online business and not for offline business, and no business requires Bitcoin. And for the token reward you’re talking about, most companies gives vouchers and gift cards to their customers as reward.

Your thinking is right. But I still see a lot of crypto of the ICOs used in their platforms or applications. It is featured, as the payment method as well as the transaction on their platform. They still have the card to convert them to fiat or vice versa. However, most of us usually convert them to Bitcoin or ETH. Because they are easier to convert to fiat

It wont require a bulky hardware, in fact, no hardware required at all, just the merchant's mobile phone, the platform's software and freedom of numerous  cryptos that could be used to pay for services. Whats more? Instant crypto to fiat gateway. These are features i think commerce needs.

Same crypto could be used for any type of work you want to get done and which involves the use of money. To me, a second best use of cryptocurrency after making money with it is using it to make transactions. Banks and even ATMs are the money suckers and in the long run, you loose big money which is more fee than the services they provide.

And by the way I’d like to let you know that there are countries with Bitcoin ATM, where you can withdraw your Bitcoin in cash if you have a wallet debit card just like Xapodebit card or Coinbase shift card.

It wont require a bulky hardware, in fact, no hardware required at all, just the merchant's mobile phone, the platform's software and freedom of numerous  cryptos that could be used to pay for services. Whats more? Instant crypto to fiat gateway. These are features i think commerce needs.
Even asides new projects popping up, there has always been the likes of Bitpay that has really helped a lot of merchants in some developed part of the world to accept cryptocurrency payment and be able to get their funds converted to fiat immediately and that to me has really helped in the usage of crypto and even though it is not something we can see in most of part of the world, at least, it is a start. Asides that we are even seeing payment processors like the likes of Orbis that I saw recently, and I know as time goes on, the real life usage of crypto will be a norm than something anticipated for.

On top of that, the merchant doesn't have to pay for using the payment processor! There's a reward system for users as well.
All very attractive benefits
I know as time goes on, there will always be so many projects that will come up to really make the usage of cryptocurrency in real life enticing. We are seeing a lot of them already and the possibilities that they will always keep coming and even creating more competition, but one thing I am certain of is that, we may not have gotten to a level that we would really say the usage of crypto is rampant, but at least, we are going to get to that level at some point, judging from the way things are going currently within the space and projects that are channeled towards the real life usage of crypto and some incentives for users.

Some businesses accept Bitcoin as payment, although not as much as we would like. It appears that most cryptocurrency users use it for investment. But some use it for commerce. Mostly for buying properties and the like.

As of today we can only see crypto as for trading but then soon we will see that it will be use in banks, it will be use in any online store and we can only see this if finally the world accept it as money.

The unique characteristics of most cryptocurrencies allow it to function as both a store of value and tradable tender. Although Bitcoin's original use case wasn't of this nature, Of course you'll see millions if not billions of dollars being traded everyday on exchanges. People trade traditional fiat currencies similarly depending on exchange rates going up and down, its of the same nature.

If you are wondering about the lack of crypto payments all you have to do is look. browsing this thread I see tons of answers for where you can pay with crypto. Did you know more than 1500+ merchants in Venezuela alone accept DASH as a payment method in the fight to combat inflation of their national currency?

Did you know you can look up merchants online that accept BCH in countries all over the world?

I personally sold my motorcycle for ETH on FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE. It's all about finding the right outlets at this time. It's coming out of its niche to provide real world use cases!

I've been working on a huge project to implement real life crypto payments as well! I can't wait to show you guys.

I don't know any coin used for real world purposes, but I'm eager to see projects that deal with gaming to implement their plans and introduce tokens used in mobile games.
There are few such projects and they don't seem to be very popular now, but I hope there will be a kind of universal gaming token that could be earned by doing certain tasks.

Cashing out is the main purpose of cryptocurrency for me! But as time goes by, I learned that I can pay my bills, save money from my bank account and buy load using my earnings in cryptocurrency. As of now, I saw a news came from LYL which gave me an idea to use it when I will buy something that accepts LYL. Hm. There are many usage of cryptocurrency, specially nowadays.

Thats interesting, can you tell us which country you live in and what kind of bills you can pay?
I havent heard about this option yet.
We can use crypto apart from trading as a payment mode and this usage takes place in many countries besides which it is best recommended as long term investment for investors to place their money here that is generating huge profit for them. Furthermore, crypto currencies are using in banks across Germany as payment of loans besides this use we can get more benefits from it if governments create more opportunities regarding crypto currencies.

As of now, there are no much use of bitcoin except in trading, because bitcoin is starting to spread in the world and few stores in selected countries are only operating or starting to use Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency in the mode of payment. Hopefully, in the future when bitcoin is legal more advertisement and transactions will be done. People are starting to be confused on what could bitcoin do.

This is certainly the case. We knew that the cryptocurrency had a very little use in the real world. As payment systems it really did work, but to be used for most transactions is a no. Despite how much people had been using it for trading yet is still is not even so popular such that using it would increase its value.  There is not enough stores or shops that have used cryptocurrency as payments or as a digital currency or digital equivalent of money to pay for the products bought. Because of these ideas people got stock only to trading not realizing that the coins could have been so useful had it been used differently.

Indeed, 100% adaption rate will become possible if all nations will unite to recognize Bitcoin as alternative currency in which if this will happen then the existing products and commodities will embrace the use of crypto platform in which for sure they will help towards prosperity if Bitcoin is acceptable anywhere in the world. Hopefully it will happen as everyday more and more nations are now legalizing Bitcoin as alternative currency for investment and direct spending.

for now it is time for crypto to be used for real business as a means of transaction or investment. because the use of crypto which is only an investment asset and trading in their own market will make it difficult to rise again. It looks like Kirpto was created and they play in their own zone, it hasn't come out to real business and this is what CEO and crypto founders really need to pay attention to.

I'm constantly searching out projects with interesting use cases and with a lot more diverse application of blockchain than just payment and trading. I was attracted to Gymrewards, sadly the full potential of this project is yet to be fully expressed, hence another undervalued asset in the stream of overpopulated ICOs and tokenized assets.

However, I recently stumble upon HiNounou, and I'm kinda pro about the project as they have such a concise and ready market for the product they are developing. Using blockchain, AI and other tech appendixes are truly becoming a cliche, but one with an extraordinary market potential and a string of partnerships and well-versed project leads, you can't go wrong. Oh and mix that with the Asian economy - practically anything of value sells there - and you'd find yourself another gem mine.

You can check out the Hinounou project, remember to DYOR, but I'm certain there's something of value here.

Yes, it is what Satoshi was aiming before in which bitcoin would be use as currency - as a mode of payment rather than just an investment. Maybe he didn't expect that the price would become this much nowadays because there is still no certainty before if it would be widely accepted before and now it happened that due to his idea, a bunch of other ideas appear wherein we cannot only use cryptocurrency as a currency but in other purposes as well due to blockchain technology and the creation of smart contracts.

In my personal experience, I haven't used any other function for crypto asides from trading. Trading fo me is the most profitable way to earn money in the cryptosphere-- provided the patience and also basic understanding of how trading works. If our country will adapt crytocurrency in the finance system then most likely, the first function of it will be payment for services like for government transactions or even bills payment. Cryptocurrency has got us covered from purchase to lifestyle so I am very optimistic to be using crypto in our daily operations.

In fact there are many places ( mainly online ), where people can pay with cryptocurrency, but to pay milk and bread in your local store you will need to wait some time. Actually it all depends from country to country, there is places you can pay with crypto by buying coffee, donut or even bread&milk and make haircut maybe. It is important to know we are just at the very beginning in the application of this technology, maybe 1% of world population is using cryptocurrency in one way or another.

Fiat is still main currency, and it will be probably for a long time - big changes do not happen overnight, they may last for decades.
You’re right on that mate,in future even local store will accept cryptocurrency and not only for online shopping, and not only in paying billings

As of now in our region billings and some stores are accepting bitcoin but more and more are planning to extend the function of cryptocurrencies and i am confidently waiting ,jusk like many asians and some other places that has some regulations about this community

Here in our country there are many ways that uses crypto coins for payment. We can use coins for paying online purchases, paying monthly bills like internet bill, electricity, water and some other utilities. That is why a lot of people in our place are now adopting crypto and now use to build business with crypto because it has lots of opportunities offer.

now I am more concerned about storing crypto because the value will be formed and continue to increase from year to year, different from the value of money which is always decreasing due to inflation in each country. now there are many multi web wallets that hold more coins and tokens under one roof and this will make it easier for us to transact online to buy a product

in my country, it can only be used for trade to carry out government transactions, it is still prohibited because the crypto currency has not been fully recognized by the government for transactions directly but one day it can certainly be done
Even if the government accepts crypto, I also do not think people will use it for different areas of life because volatility makes it very difficult to use, restaurants or other areas are also difficult to adapt to the values of crypto. In addition, everyone clearly understands that using crypto for personal spending is like selling the opportunity to make money for others, they will not foolishly do it unless they have no other options, crypto is still used for trading is the best and most suitable

nothing else. purpose of crypto is replacing current money. in the form of digital.

The cryptocurrency cannot replace fiat. Traditional money will always be used, even by those people, who use the cryptocurrencies often. However, you can pay for some stuff on the special sites that accept Bitcoins.

It's not RECOMMENDED at all. Why would you start to earn money with the highest risk you could ever find? Just try with easier method first.

I think the time will come for us to use the token to pay something we buy in the store. I don't find any tokens that can be used for paying something, but I am sure that it will happen in the future after the government legalizes bitcoin, altcoin, and the tokens. Besides that, I think the governments need more time before they can make the cryptocurrency legal, so people don't have to worry about anything.

Not only your country, I heard many people say that most countries have set up such a rule, they prohibit the use of crypto as a payment method, and will punish stores that violate this rule, crypto is illegal and unacceptable. And say honestly, I feel that the government of countries banned crypto or not does not matter because crypto is only useful for trading and making money, in other areas, crypto really is not suitable when many people still do not know and still do not accept, and we use crypto for other problems, it just wastes the value of crypto and wastes our chances

So I think cryptocurrency not only for trading and asset but only as payment in the future, we all need to do is still wait for it to happen and wait for our country to accept it.

The ability to use cryptocurrencies as a means of payment or for other purposes depends on the country in which you chew, but in most cases, cryptocurrencies are more used as investments or value preservation than as a means of payment. For the global legalization of crypto-currencies and tokenization, it takes some time.

That could be a way to increase the usage of cryptocurrencies but this will push the usage of cryptocurrencies in a very specific context and it seems to me that what we are looking for is for a few cryptocurrencies to be used all over the world in most stores because I find unlikely that the average person is going to want to hold many coins the way we do, in my country people only hold the local currency and at most US dollars and Euros and a similar approach should be tried with cryptocurrencies in which people only need 2 or 3 cryptos to pay for everything they want.

Maybe that idea can be great but it will be done within a process. It is hard to regulate this kind of system easily, it comes with a huge support from both parties, users and the business owners. Today I only knew few coin which is commonly used to for real estate. Some of them are successful but some of them are not.

Trading and gambling are just some of activities where you risk your money to make more and have fun in the same time, there's a big difference between amateurs and professionals. To not run away from topic, on a side having fun crypto should be used by people for buying things, so you need shops where people can use crypto, factories that will produce something for crypto. Crypto adoption is all about that, and we have where to spend crypto for goods, people who live in advanced countries can do much more with crypto than others, but that's spreading fast and I believe that future will be full adoption of crypto, one day sooner or later.

I think in the crypto trade the future will be everywhere, seeing technology that is developing very fast, especially in the field of payment instruments, digital systems in almost all fields of payment have started, some countries have begun to facilitate bitcoin users, for example advanced accounts allow stores to accept Bitcoin payments.

Where crypto can be used in many places easily. nowadays there are so many ICOs and giving birth to lots of coins or tokens, for me it is one form of human struggle in growing and introducing crypto. tokens and coins themselves will be selected by nature by themselves, where developers who really struggle will exist and get a place in the crypto world.

You can use it for buying specific services where the seller allows it as the only acceptable option. For instance, I recently purchased some social media related services and the seller asked payment in crypto. I went ahead with advance payment and the deal went smooth.

Other possibilities are government using crypto for subsidy payments and other such schemes.

I think we are close to that. Although it is true that considering current market’s volatility most of businesses are afraid to take some steps towards the tokenization of their product. One core element is that BTC and the rest of the cryptomarket is facing radical ups and downs from time to time making impossible for merchants to foresee the future. But it is also true that neither merchants nor consumers understand the benefits from taking part in an ecosystem that each token has to offer. For example tapnetwork helps businesses to reward their customers with discounts etc. by allowing brands to use their personal data for advertising purposes. And there are others too that empower businesses to tokenize their products in different ways. After all, one does not simply could predict the future but surely one can take advantage of blockchain systems in order to make profit in the long term, hence the time will come that everything we purchase will be tokenized.

We do not need high expectations for altcoins in use, because the use of bitcoin also is still very rarely available in many sectors, if the spread of bitcoin has become widespread in usage then we can expect altcoin to follow the bitcoin movement so that it can be used in many places and for all types of transactions.
