Title: Have I lost it?
Post by: crystalworld on October 11, 2018, 08:58:45 AM
Hello guys, I logged in one morning to notice that I have been brought back to newbies, instead of Jr member I was, or even promoted to a member.
I don't really know what happened. But I noticed seeing lot of people as newbies, and  I can't do any signature campaign again. what should I do, to gain my rank back. Please help if you have an idea.

Now you need at least 1 merit to become a Jr. Member, it was done to prevent spam from low ranks to become JR.M quickly

There is new update for the ranking system of newbie.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5030366.0

Admin added some restrictions and one of it is you can't wear a signature and personal text, you need to earn at least 1 merit to become jr member.

No you didn't "loose it". :)  You were demoted to newbie because you did not earn any merit.

This was enforced by theymos to stop the huge amount of spam that is happening in the Bitcoin & Altcoin discussion forums.

Check this out:
Due to excessive garbage-posting, you now need 1 merit to be a Jr Member. All existing Jr Members who didn't meet the requirement were demoted. Also, newbies can no longer set any signature or personal text.

Note that this does not affect:
 - PM rate-limiting, which is based purely on activity & whitelisted status.
 - "You must wait ___ seconds...", which is based purely on activity & whitelisted status.

But it does affect:
 - Voting in polls
 - Patroller jurisdiction
 - The "ignore newbie PMs" option.
 - "The body is omitted from this email because the sender is a newbie."
 - BBCode limits
 - Reduced-accuracy link filtering
 - Board restrictions

Many of these limitations can be eliminated with a copper membership (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=credit;promote). In particular, you can set a signature at Member level if you wear a copper membership.

One reason that I was hesitant to do this before is that there are an awful lot of newbie restrictions, and I don't want the forum to be unwelcoming to good newbies. I'll think about tying some of those to activity instead of rank in the future.

With help from DdmrDdmr, I just added 36 new merit sources, which should help newbies achieve the requirement. But if you're incapable of posting anything worthwhile, then you will never rank up, and you shouldn't: this isn't the forum for you.

You have not lost it at all, you can turn it. You must get 1 Merit to be on the junior member rank and after this your abilities will be restored. I had the same problem.

Everything that you have lost could be turned to you again because forum is very unique in this case. Just find a merit and your position will be on the same one.

we never know what our future will be like. because that fate has been determined. if indeed our fate is good then the loss thing never happened to us.

The reason behind this is to avoid spammers as most of them started unnecessary stuffs in this forum, this step was took by the admin of this forum. Go for a merit to regain your rank.

It's not appropriate for this thread to be written in the altcoin section, so move this thread to https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=24.0 (Meta Section). Also, this is the latest rule for newbie rank and Jr. member rank,

In your case, you got demoted. This forum has implemented various systems to reduce shitposter. Most of them only use this forum as a place to made money, but they do not made a positive contribution to this forum.

I think this rule is applied to reduce spammers and keep newcomers to discuss according to what they know. currently there are too many newbie members or Jr. with more than hundreds of posts and there are very many post reports in it.

It's the new rule that all Jr member without at least 1 merit be downgraded to newbie. But there is still a way to pay copper member on your current account with 15$ which is equivalent to member. It's just like unlocking your account. I think you can find it in settings

This is a system of emphasis for everyone to be more serious in discussion so what you need to do is make something that you think is very useful for everyone and it's good to put a quality word, don't worry it can be changed with your process and seriousness in make a post, of course if you want to raise your rank you need 1 gift from someone who they think is good because everyone is different in responding to every other post, not complaining that there are still many people out there who experience things like that, I hope that all members are more care for those who have thought hard in making a post, so don't give up, it's still a long process that we make in the future.

The forum rules have been changed. You need a merit to become JR.Member. Actually to get pretty hard merit. You have to post constructive posts and many community interests, and the high rank member or administrator will transfer merit to you.

You need at least 1 merit to become the jr member, you should create a lot of constructive post to reach jr member level and without it and that will be impossible for you to reach that level dude. Please you must read a lot of the latest rules in the bitcointalk and theymos has updated it with a new one that put more restriction to the low level member.

You should need new rules.
You'll need a merit to break a newbie, this things applied due to many people create multiple accounts and joining many bounties at the same time.

It is a new condition implemented by Bitcointalk, which tries to prevent SPAM. If you have a Junior Member account, it is a mandatory condition to receive 1 merit. If you have any friends on this forum, you can ask them to give you some merits to promote again.

The restriction was highly needed a whole lot with the whole thing going on with garbage posting for newbies, but the thing actually is that at the end, this merit system is going to be abused as I have seen even shit posters trying to get merit from somewhere I do not understand just to rank up which means one way or the other, we have people abusing it and at the end, it would not serve its purpose.

Nonetheless, it is a good thing it is there anyway, because restrictions are actually better than not having any at all, as that would help curtail a lot of shit posting and any newbie who at least wants to rank up should post something pretty quality to be able to get that.

Sorry mate! But there is a new rule that theymos brought up and to at least be able to get back to be a junior member, you need to have at least 1 merit and all the Junior members before the merit was introduced was demoted to newbies, but all you need is 1 merit actually and if you are a good poster, that should not be anything hard to get actually.

Someone has shared the update in the thread and you can take your time to go read it up and understand why this was really done. I feel though that this would give room for merit selling actually but I may be wrong.

Hello,

yes they downgrade accounts of Jr. member to newbie if someone did not get 1 merit.

Need not to panic mate you were downgraded as you don't have merit. Quality of the post will give you a merit else ask from your friends to give a merit then you will get back your rank again. The admin of this forum has taken this initial step to avoid spammers.

For the regaining of the rank "member" you're to obtain 1 merit. Write a useful post, or help someone on the forum and you will get it.

Do you have a friend that have merit tell him or her to give you because if you are waiting for you to post constructive post you will lost totally. So ask merit from someone that can give you.

probably the reason why your rank brought back to newbie ,because since the merit system launched on this forum you didn't earn merit even 1 merit .if i were you stop posting 1 liner post and make more constructive if you want to get back your current rank.  Make your own thread Instead to make your post more visible which a high chance as well to merited.

Well that was unfortunate for you. Because even with the number of your activities, you still need at least 1 merit to be a jr. member. And as I have learned, it was hard to earn one. Try to read in the beginners and help thread, maybe youll find some tips on how to earn merits there.

You should pay attention to the rules of the forum. All JRs that have not obtained Merit become Newbie. If you want to upgrade, you need at least one merit.

The status of members Jr members recently returned to the level of newbies a lot because they don't have Merit and i have the advice to you as follows. You should continue to post with good information and contribute to the community but be of good quality. If you work so hard Merit will be given and you will be able to change your rankings. Remember not to cheat and work with the most sincere attitude.

The system of obtaining the status has changed and in order to raise your rank you need to get merit. Get merit by making a useful topic or you need to actively participate in topics and then there is an opportunity to get merit. I think this is a total cleaning BTC members.

shortly you will need to post a rich post or comments and wait for someone give you merit,  that's all what you need to get your rank .

You only need merit to rank up. Make sure you will do quality post and someone will recognize it and give you merit. You don't need to worry as it is proven that the people here are appreciative to those who post at a high quality. The forum needs to do it because there are a lot of Jr.Member accounts and they need to filter it out. Life is not over for you since there's still social media campaign that you can be part of even if your rank is a newbie.

Due to the changes of the rules in Bitcointalk, you need to have at least one smerit to become a Jr.Member. Just be helpful on this forum, write great posts and you will be rewarded with merit. You can also reach Member rank or higher, if your post would be really helpful to community.

Unfortunately, this happened recently, and many have suffered from it. In general, recently, the forum is cleaning and very often block accounts. My friend’s account was blocked, and he didn’t even understand why
