Title: Why does the government hate bitcoin?
Post by: BIPBot on October 24, 2018, 12:08:23 PM
In order to understand why the government hates bitcoin we need to understand how money actually works

In the history of the United States, the US dollar has been built on the "silver standard" and the "gold standard,". This means that the value of a dollar was directly tied to the country's silver or gold reserves. This is true in case of all currencies be it the Indian Rupee or The Chinese yen. A more simplified version of understanding this would be that any money you possessed could directly be exchanged for its value in whatever material it was being backed by. This is known as a commodity currency which does not exist in the current economy.

As an example, Lets say that you own a paper currency worth $ 20. Now you can take that paper bill and exchange it for gold or any other material backing it up which had the same $ 20 value.

But in the current economy the world runs on fiat currencies whose value is derived from the government that backs it. Plain and simple, a US dollar has value as legal tender because the US government says it does. Though this system isn't perfect, it has served its purpose for many years.

The government loves fiat currency because it is centralized which means control is also centralized on the production and distribution of their respective fiat currencies via large central banks.

What this means for the banks
They can track the currency's location in bank accounts, dictate its movement, and collect taxes on every financial transaction that includes their currency. This also helps the governments to try and keep their economy healthy by adjusting the amount of money in circulation to try and stimulate Wall Street investors or avoid a financial crisis.

Now why is bitcoin made?

The basic ideology behind Bitcoin is to use a combination of public-key cryptography and peer-to-peer networking to create a virtual analogy of gold,
that is to say, a substance that is scarce and fungible. Satoshi Nakamoto devised did arrange a set of restrictions in order to ensure that bitcoin is not misued to
an extent like the fact that there can only ever be 21 Million bitcoins ever in existence and as time progresses it will become difficult to mine bitcoins.

Nakamoto in 2009 -
Quote
The root problem with conventional currency, is all the trust that's required to make it work. The central bank must be trusted not to debase the currency, but the
history of fiat currencies is full of breaches of that trust. Banks must be trusted to hold our money and transfer it electronically, but they lend it out in waves
of credit bubbles with barely a fraction in reserve. We have to trust them with our privacy, trust them not to let identity thieves drain our accounts." In contrast,
everything in Nakamoto's system "is based on crypto proof rather than trust
.

But is it really that simple

It is not as simple as "The government likes to control and tax the movement of money" that makes them seem evil or greedy. The truth however is that if all currencies are decentralized, who would determines their value?
Bitcoin is only in the virtual form, how can we protect oourself from hackers or technical glitches? These questions are just some of the reasons why there is no telling what the future of cryptocurrencies holds, but it isn't wrong to say that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies will not be replacing government-backed fiat currencies any time soon. This however does not mean that there isn't a future where cryptocurrencies will be treated as regulated global currencies. Of course if we include the corrupt institutions, politicians then we can say the government is evil and greedy.

For bitcoin to become truly succesful it must be both a medium of exchange and a reasonably stable store of value.

Federal governments have reason to be against bitcoin and decentralization. Digital gold would prevent governments from magically printing money while digging the debt hole. Their actions and transactions will also be transparent thanks to blockchain technology, and they're not always honest. News platforms will be decentralized, decode hidden agendas..Often involving bad propaganda from governments.

You lost me the second you mentioned the United States. The United States definitely in no way hates Bitcoin. The US is supportive of it, sure they aren't quick to adapt traditional regulations for crypto but they definitely have no hate towards it. Bitcoin and crypto has already had state Governments allowing use for public things (in Florida you can pay for certain taxes with it), they have already been very promising exchanges and businesses. We haven't had any real sign of defensiveness about crypto from the US.

I won't disagree with you. But it is not regulated. I am not trying to say that only a regulated currency holds value but when a government backs up bitcoin that would make all the difference in the world. I do agree that there are signs of adoption but they aren't creating the impact required.
I may be wrong but I'm just trying to state my opinion.
After all this is a discussion.

If you think about it the Indian government thinks blockchain is good but bitcoin is evil. The RBI has gone as far as to bane bitcoin for any sort of means of exchange for any commodity or use in the markets.

Bitcoin and altcoin are very attractive, the government has not accepted because they do not have the appropriate management plan, it should take some time to Bicoin and altcoin system.

Are you saying that if one nation is implementing the Federal government there is a big chances that they won't accept bitcoin or crytpo to their own territory? As far as I know dude the reason why the government hate it so much, it is because obviously Bitcoin was decentralized while the government is centralize based system concepts.

I agree. Government is not yet ready to take charge on what is going on to the cryptocurrency market. But then they lacks on realizing the potential the bitcoin can give to the world. The government may also be threatened to the things the bitcoin can manage to do.

It is not a matter of governments hate or do not hate bitcoin. It is a matter of the bitcoin itself. How could governments trust bitcoin fully if bitcoin has some significant technical issues that still need to be resolved. One of them is the security of bitcoin. We had heard a lot of hacked exchanges. Remember these coins are virtual and digital. Only if important issues will be resolved, maybe we can see fu support from the governments.

One possible reason is that governments hate Bitcoin because they might be the one who created it maybe to be used for funding secret intelligence agencies and they know what it brings to the fiat money when everybody knows it's main purpose but that is just a speculation. One thing is that governments are afraid if Bitcoin will dominate and eliminate fiat money as people nowadays started to adopt and choose a decentralized asset than having centralized one like fiat.

You keep thinking that your government is managing the country and the development of the rules and the financial sector are banks. Since government banks will regulate the flow of money in a country, the bank is where transactions and costs are paid. Bitcoin is very modern and Blockchain technology saves a lot in the transaction of convenience if Bitcoin to develop too government will be difficult to manage cash flow and banks will become should be useless

They simply don't have power over bitcoin, that's why they hate it. They 'like to control and tax the movement of money' together with the banks, and because of that the emergence of bitcoin seems to be defeating their agenda. People can take their money and assets in bitcoin and the governments can't do something about it. This diminishes their control over people who wanted to deviate from their state-issued currency and just hoard their money somewhere else. To combat this, regulations are created to possibly 'limit' the amount of people taking their interest towards the said crypto (see India for example.)

At the end of the day, the government simply wants to establish their control over their land, and to do this, the gold standard was ditched, introduced fiat currency and made their citizens use the said money to ensure that everything is within their power. Money easily controls the mind of people, and the government have done this perfectly on the introduction of the fiat system and their crazy taxation system.

there are many reasons why the government hates bitcoin, according to my version:
1. the presence of bitcoin can threaten the existence of local currencies, and can damage the financial system.
2. Sometimes, bitcoin used for black market transactions.
3. Bitcoin can be used for money laundering
4. bitcoin is anonymous, so it will be difficult to track.
5. Bitcoin transactions are tax free.

In fact, once these problems are resolved, Bitcoin will receive a green light. The main problem is anonymity! As only Bitcoin owners come out of the shadows, governments will accept Bitcoin as an alternative currency, which in the future will spread along with fiat.

Government hate bitcoin mainly because they can not control it. Bitcoin decentralised nature is one of the biggest reasons behind this topic. Many government doesn't wants something in their country in which they have no control. According to some countries bitcoin affects their country economy by its volatile nature. And also affects the country economy by affect their bank profits and national currency. Bitcoin user does not pay tax and this thing also affects an country economy.

I think the feeling is not the hate, it is fear. The goverments and the bank doesn't know how to act against the cryptocurrency.. That's why they act weird like this. I belive that the goverments will find new taxing system for cryptos and all the problems would solve that time.

I think government hate bitcoin because there is no kegal agreement between government and bitcoin. But when we look on the other side bitcoin can help unemployed people and lessen the unemployment and reduce poverty in the country which is the number one problem in every country. On my own opinion government hate bitcoin even it is more profitable rather than any livelyhood project that they conduct is because bitcoin is a non taxable income. So they dont have any income or rebate even the people are continouslly working. I hope government will open their mind to deal something that helps people to imorove their life like in dealing with bitcoin.

It is because bitcoin has its own rules and regulations. No one can control its price in the market. Bitcoin was volatile and government hate it because they know that even them they cannot manage its price. Maybe if bitcoin become legal government will like it. Government soon will find how helpful bitcoin is especially in one economy.

The bitcoin wasn't created as an alternative to Fiat,it wasn't created by the government as a substitute to Fiat, neither was it tipped to succeed Fiat now,or even in the future

Satoshi nakatomi's creation was simple, and that is to put control in the hands of the individuals that operate on this system,a system were the price/value hinges on the supply/demand of the currency...He never created it to obliterate Fiat, how's that even possible, every single person in this forum uses banks/Fiat..

Some Government are simply cracking down on the system due to its vulnerability to fraud/scam...
While others are simply warning their citizens to trade with caution on the system,as any loss would definitely be irretrievable

I don't see anything wrong in that

This decentralized and fluctuating nature makes it difficult for the government to regulate it, so the government does not want to take risks that occur and appear to hate.

There are so many reasons why the government hates cryptocurrencies. First is the credibility of bitcoin, others think that coins such as bitcoin and altcoin and others can't be reliable because of their volatility, they think of the stability of the price based on the article that I have read. Second is the common issues of hackers. They feel unsafe about this  but they do not know that security and safety of your wallet relies on our selves. And lastly, the possibility of underground transactions. They are afraid of it because there are cases known that other manipulators use the cryptoworld to do such illegal things.

When the government pushes people to the edge what else can you expect. I have just made a post on RBI arresting the co-founder of UNOCoin because UNOCoin had set up an ATM in India. But the thing is it was not even operational. It was in the final testing phase and the ATM did not use any banking gateway. This means they did not actually violate any rules.

The RBI is bullying. This can actually boost illegal activities using bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies.

It is the first decentralized peer-to-peer payment network that is powered by its users with no central authority or middlemen.  If you use bitcoin, you are trusting your money to a complex system you don’t understand, people you know nothing about, and an environment where you have no legal recourse. In the traditional world of investing, this would raise enough red flags to make it a bad idea. On the other hand, the European Central Bank reports that Bitcoin is just one of over 500 digital currencies now in circulation around the world. Even it Bitcoin ultimately fails or is relegated a minor role on the world stage, one of its successors could radically alter the way the world thinks of currency.

Countries don't like bitcoin because they fear about it. It is the opposite of their way to proceed. They could not control as it is decentralized, they could not for the moment benefit from the potential because fees could not be control by them and like a lot of evolution and technologies they don't like changes. Best for them is keep the economy and furthermore life like it is to continu to keep to have the hand on people life and money.

It seems that the government does not hate crypto only cannot regulate and control it. The government is afraid that its people will fall into poverty because there is no law that can guarantee in the future. Indeed, the government's concern can be traced and this does not need to make us dizzy, follow the crypto market channel and also pay attention to government concerns.

The main mission of Bitcoin was the idea of returning full control over their financial assets to ordinary people, however, this goes against the plans of the “powerful”. Every 5-7 years, there are financial crises and the banks, as if nothing had happened, resorted to the financial assistance of the state (and this is our money with you - the money of ordinary taxpayers). Bitcoin can deprive banks and governments of such enrichment methods at the expense of ordinary citizens, ensuring full control of the latter over their funds and becoming a kind of “refuge” for people from financial crises and “legal” withdrawal of funds.
Bitcoin has not yet been adopted, because the rulers are afraid of losing control over people.

I think that the main reason why governments hate Bitcoin so much, it's because Bitcoin poses a threat to their traditional economic system. Compared with Fiat, 1 Bitcoin is much more valuable than 1 Dollar, 1 Euro, 1 Yen, and so on. It's the world's most valuable currency to date, and a decentralized system for anyone to use at will. Given the benefits blockchain technology provides, it's no wonder why governments and banks have working together to destroy Bitcoin at all costs.

Their main excuse is that Bitcoin provides an open road for money launderers to conduct their illegal activities. However, that's not usually the case, since criminals prefer to use more Fiat than Bitcoin to do money laundering because Fiat is Fungible. With Bitcoin, every transaction can be easily tracked and audited via the blockchain, which makes the authorities’ work much easier. However, despite this reality, most governments want to simply ban Bitcoin usage within their region. On the other hand, there are other governments which have reacted in a friendly manner to Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. The US Government is one of them, which has recognized Bitcoin as a legitimate cryptocurrency for day-to-day transactions.

In some US states, it's already accepted as a currency that you could use to pay your taxes, which means that the US see Bitcoin more as a benefit to them than a real threat. Therefore, the reasons why governments hate Bitcoin are obvious, since Bitcoin is an alternative currency free from middleman. Unless, Bitcoin becomes extremely popular and adopted in the mainstream world, there will still exist governments that are against the original cryptocurrency. :)

What makes you think that a digital gold would prevent a fiat? There's nothing that shows that even a massively used crypto would stop a fiat from being widely used or even still mainly used.
Different government different issues and agenda with bitcoin and because of this they ban it in their country. Some government doesn't want some outside currency in their country in which they have no control. And Because of decentralised nature bitcoin is out of the regulations of  government. And this is one of the main reasons behind this. Another reason is tax. Because of its digital in nature its user does not pay tax to their government and this thing ultimately affects the country economy in a negative way and because of this also many government ban it in their country.

Yes one the reasons government hate bitcoin is due to the fact that government can not control bitcoin and again since bitcoin is decentralized it very hard or impossible for the government to control or get involved in it activities, the government since it in total control of the fait paper money will never support bitcoin because bitcoin offer it users the total freedom over the financial transactions which do away with any third party involvement.

Governments do understand Bitcoin, which is exactly why they are so afraid of it. I don't think we should wait for the government to reconsider its stance on Bitcoin, but start doing things on our own.

Bitcoin allows basically anyone to use it without asking for permission, and here we are still waiting for daddy government to approve something we definitely don't need their approval for. We really have that power now.

Another thing is that governments will tokenize their fiat currencies, so what do they need Bitcoin for? Their tokenized fiat has nearly all the benefits of Bitcoin, plus it's completely controlled by them.

Honesty, accountability and lack of control. A lot of Politicians are scared of transparency. They can't tax crypto either which probably scares them a fair bit
Exactly, transparency and taxation can be a big thing to be consider for a politicians and they really hate this one because of that. Government keep on discouraging people to invest in cryptocurrency because they said, its too risky to put money in cryptomarket but in reality they are preventing people from realising how good this market is.

Later on, government will be no more choices but to adapt this technology and this will happen around the world. Cryptocurrency will still become a big factor in a world financial system.

ye, it's really simple. we all determine the value of bitcoin, trade, investment, even every transaction, then it creates volatility, and we take profit from volatility.

precisely, with decentralized, and not controlled by authority, bitcoin becomes very safe from hacking. hackers might be able to go to see each transaction block, but, they cannot to solve each block puzzle.

Very many titled economists have serious hostility to bitcoin. Whenever such an economist talks about bitcoin, he always finds something negative to say. Some of these experts say that cryptocurrency has no future at all, while others claim that it is pure evil. It's simple!  ;) According to them, cryptocurrencies interfere with the work of the government to regulate the currency in order to ensure greater stability for the economy. They also clearly believe that the government should be able to decide what is legal and illegal. In other words, these economists would like the government to be able to fully regulate the economy, and they see bitcoin as a possible threat to this philosophy.   :-\

The fact that Bitcoin is decentralized is something that annoys the govs. But I wouldn't say they hate Bitcoin because I am pretty sure that the government has found a way to have a slight of hand on BTC and one example is setting regulations. I am pretty sure that they have found a way to make BTC beneficial for them. BTC generates huge amount of money in the crypto market. And the govs will surely not pass by the opportunity of getting some of that pool of money. I wouldn't be surprised if the government is one of the whales! So I really don't see any reason for the government to be hating BTC.

It is not hate, governments in general do not like it because they feel they could lose control of the economy if they allow cryptocurrencies to evolve without any supervision and in a way they are right so I understand their desire for control, but cryptocurrencies are not going to be easy to regulate at all and many people are going to resist the attempts of the governments to do it.

For sure they know what Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are it is just that your government might not want that certain cryptos to circulate your country for some reason and it might be a good thing for your country.

If they ban it, I think it is not just for their convenience but also for the better good of the people and the country. There are a lot of reasons why these governments banned Bitcoin, you can look at this site the countries that banned Bitcoin and also the reason they did so. Actually we all known that everythings that happening in one country is handled by the government and their are formed just to manage the whole country to have a better economy they are the right to handled, controls and  make decisions when it comes to the things that related to our economics issues and maybe this is also the reasons why they don't agree to implement bitcoin in their countries. The government wanted to control bitcoin system which is they can't be done because bitcoin system built with a decentralized platform and nothing can control to it. We can make any transactions in anywhere and anytime we wanted without the permission of our government or any third party and this flow of system are really  objectable by the government because they don't have the right to control it.

Crypto currency technology is very interesting. The central government in some countries does not not recognize the existence of Bitcoin because they are not ready to manage it, their economy is still centered on the conventional currency of fiat currencies which they have managed for a long time. Because this digital currency technology can indeed be said to be new, it takes enough time for the government in several countries to be able to recognize the existence of Bitcoin as fully as possible.

Government hates bitcoin because when you exchange it in a real money or i mean when you withdraw it, it has a same amount. there is no tax reduced from the money. it is exactly the same amount. that why government hate it because they can't get anything from it. i guess.
Maybe that is 1 reason, but government is not really that bad if only think about money. They have some reason maybe to make bitcoin illegal, or maybe not regulated in their country. Each country maybe have reason to do that.

I do agree with you. But at the same time there is a larger concern that bitcoin is not completely understood and what people don't understand they hesitate to adopt. The larger picture however is that this could help curb corruption and that means lesser money in many pockets. Just my personal opinion.

If something is regulated wouldn't the corruption be reduced. I mean it is pathetic that a government is the one who regulates the country but if the government is corrupt then everything else fails. But if the entire country is involved and allowed to view everything which as bitcoin stands for means an open ledger then these kind of illegal activities could very well be reduced significantly.

They can if it enters an exchange, and/or used to purchase an item legally (setup by merchants).

The corrupt government have a reason to hate Bitcoin and the reason is quite simple : Control

A lot of these governments have full control over their local Fiat currency, because they can control and manipulate it's value and they can control people. <Yes, Governments control Banks and Banks control your money>

The moment when you start using a currency that they cannot control, they find reasons to ban it. They can even stop your money from leaving the country, if they wanted to do that.  >:(

If you think about it maybe the intention for starting something like this was to ensure there was no financial crisis and help regulate the economy to avoid volatility. There have been several cases like the Kingfisher case. But as always greed took over and this power started to be abused. Maybe the government is not entirely corrupt but it is neither entirely pure. So some portion of the government might help bring about the change to an economy where bitcoin becomes regulated. It's a hope for a better future.

For that simple fact that bitcoin is decentralized which made it impossible for the government to lay their hands on taxing every satoshi that moves inside the blockchain they will resist it and do all they can to control it but where they fail they will destroy it. Government raise their money through the citizens which money the good government will use to develop the infrastructural activities, provide health care and quality educational system that will work. But the corruption ridden government will be feeding on the money without doing anything.

You don't want to underestimate the power of control. You see governments peg prices of their currencies and they can manipulate it at will as long as they own control over the creation  of new notes and fiat. So introducing decentralization means yanking out that hold they have over their currency so that it becomes almost impossible for them to manipulate it at will. Governments will continue to fight against bitcoin and crypto until they can find a way to exercise power and control over it through regulations

Bitcoin and fiat currency should collaborate in order for them to work effectively and i don't agree with that point where we would replace fiat with a one global currency which is bitcoin.

Decentralized and centralized is too far different to explain why these two should not be replaced they should both work as a centralized but decentralized money, so that it could work effectively to all of the country.

But things like this doesn't always go easily as it is just a plan and it will need someone who can push it to the top of the market.

They not really hate Bitcoin, Some countries are not yet ready for adopting it , that is why they are not using it, and they don't have enough knowledge on blockchain they are just protecting their people to avoid being scam, if they have enough knowledge for it then I'm sure that they will adopt the bitcoin and if they know it will help the economy of their country.
That's because regulations for the use of bitcoin are not made, so many people are afraid to do bitcoin transactions. Maybe there should be a school that focuses on learning about blockchain.

Maybe all you have mention here are true of why some government hate Bitcoin but the good thing is not all government hate Bitcoin but most of them supported Bitcoin like USA, Japan, France, Germany and many more. Only few of the nations are against it in which mostly belong to the poor countries that they are blind to see the real benefits of Bitcoin currency.

I think it's all about controlling problem because bitcoin and other cryptocurrency are decentralized. The government and the central bank won't take the charge to control bitcoin. Bitcoin is anonymous and its popularity is high it follows peer to peer transaction system. Actually, the government cannot realize the value of bitcoin.

Yes, that is the main reason why the government still has not determined its attitude towards the circulation of Bitcoin. The fact is that Bitcoin cannot be controlled and there could be economic chaos in a country when the price of Bitcoin changes significantly. But please note that Bitcoin has many benefits, we admit that with Bitcoin now all financial transactions can be done much faster, easier and safer.

my reason is very easy and very simple bro.
1. because they fear people are increasingly investing in the digital world of bitcoin. than investing in a Bank.
2. the price cannot be predicted by anyone.
3. Can not be controlled by anyone
4. If there is a loss we cannot catch the person who stole it.

They are just thinking on how to regulate properly and what will the benefit to the people and how to protect the investors.

In my own opinion regarding the matter if why government hates bitcoin is preferably because bitcoin makes the banking system looks irrelevant because people can now be able to send large amount of money in any part of the world with anonymity in a very minimal fee avoiding taxes which the bank always imposed.

The government feels frightened about this. I also admit that this is the main reason why the government has slowed the development of bitcoin. if bitcoin is used widely, of course this can reduce government tax revenue. while on the one hand that the community certainly wants to get the best service and avoid paying increasingly large taxes.

It is very interesting to read new  thoughts about seemingly very easy topic. We can divide all the money operations on three kinds (just as we divide salaries): black, grey and white. So such thing as bitcoin gives you an opportunity to make transaction of any color, because system simply don't care about it and does everything anonymously. Without knowing where is "bad" and where is "good" government can not take any actions. And it just drives government officials crazy.

I oppose. I believe governments know what cryptocurrency is particularly the bitcoin because in that institutions there are economist, IT professionals, consultants, and so on that might be aware to its existence. They just not infavor to it maybe because they don't have faith in it.

Also the most important point is tax evasion as we aren't able to identify the transactions and who is sending or receiving the money and also the risk of money laundering is pretty high as the transactions are pseudo anonymous. So the governments hate bitcoin because of this reason and that's why they hate bitcoin and are ready to do anything to stop it.

For what I believe, there are many loopholes to what you have mentioned. First of all, United States is a country that do not hate bitcoin, it rather supports it because they know what bitcoin can do to a country's economy. For me, bitcoin is not something a government will be feared. They can actually cooperate with it like what other countries are actually doing. The last part that you have me I there are many ways for someone not for his cryptocurrencies to he started. Banks also should not feared digital coins as like what I have said that they can actually coexist .

There are some reasons for the countries which are prohibiting Bitcoin. Bitcoin is used in some criminal activities. And this transaction can not be identified. So using Bitcoin, the country's money is more likely to be trafficked in another country. For some of these reasons, some countries have banned Bitcoin.

Even if it money is gold backed or silver backed it doesn't matter anyway. Even if it is not backed by the two and just backed by banks it still doesn't matter as much. The reason why the Government would like to control the value of money is for economic stability. The government just cannot lie about what they hold and say that they have lots of money in their position and that they could back up the any amount of fiat currency. Printing a lot of paper money backed by nothilot of US Dollar, wants to buy something from the US like medicine, food, etc and use it to buy their products, could they gain from it? I certainly think not! So what I am trying to emphasize now is that the creation of paper money is controlled and it does not go out of US without something backing it and without consideration of their economic status. Otherwise there resources will be gone with paper money or fiat currency back on their position without having to receive any better benefit from it. Bitcoin is almost similar to the fiat currency you have describe. It is a useless piece of code not unless their is a real usage for it. And what is backing it is fiat currency. So if we say it will replace for example the US dollar is quite impossible for now because as I have said their is so much to control about fiat currency for economic stability that is why governments are tracking bitcoin trading. It is not because they hate it but because it is need for stability. It does not and will not make a country rich. It only makes them unstable. Stability over the prices of dollar for example, is very crucial to the economic status of the United States. Be it not backed by gold or not, it is always a concern by their government to hold or limit the transfer of money going in or out. Should they print more money in paper, how will they sustain transactions with other countries doing exchanges with their money?

You are right.
Change in value of the local currency  has happened many times in developing countries and has affected their economic. But developed countries usually are able to control the value of their currency. Assume that the fiat is replaced by a currency which is out of their control. It's normal that they don't want it.

the government hate bitcoin because a decetralized currency is a cryptocurrency used once in scammer. last year I watched the news a bitcoin was used in the bust, so in that way the government also thinks that the bitcoin is a scam. Value is something that is subjective, defined by everyone. If more people value it then, of course, the demand will increase. Perhaps the best way to illustrate the notion of intrinsic value is through gold. Any debate about intrinsic value will be incomplete without mention of gold. Ironically, if we look at gold, only 10% of the total supply of gold is used for real industrial and electronic purposes, while the vast majority is used to make jewelry. In short, the 'intrinsic value' that many people associate with gold is derived from the ostentation and 'perception that gold is more valuable than actual use. Bitcoin, though invisible, has a practical use case. Bitcoin has broken the traditional banking system with expensive intermediaries and long wait times. Values can be sent on a global scale with significantly lower costs and shorter time frames through a secure distribution network. The value of Bitcoin lies in its utility, its network, and its acceptance. With a fixed supply of only $ 21 million, Bitcoin is also protected against inflation. I think that's why the government hates Bitcoin.

Currently the governments treat bitcoin as a commodity investment and hates it because it is unregulated and hardly inforce KYC or AML.

However, bitcoin is much more than this and supposed to challenge the fiat currency role of a country. The only reason for a fiat currency today is all about government funding, (over table) tax or (under table) personal wealth devaluation in favor of national debt. Assuming bitcoin wide adoption, governments would face difficulty about this purpose and obviously would hate bitcoin.

Decentralization perhaps plays a key role here. Governments cannot monitor the users associated with different accounts. Some governments have strict remittance policies which won't stand a chance if people use bitcoin or other decentralized currency. Then there is lack of practical knowledge which gets in the way.

Not all governments hate Bitcoins. What most governments are lacking is quick adaptibility. There are also some governments that are trying to adapt but is finding it hard to give it a proper value. Things will happen in due time and place.

Government hates bitcoin because of the decentralization feature and that they do not have appropriate management plan yet. It wull take some time and upgrades in order to get the approval of government.

Because Bitcoin is anonymous, it means the government cannot control it. Hacker and crime can use it easily. It affects on the value of real money too.

The government hates bitcoin may be because bitcoin cannot be controlled by the government and considers bitcoin to be disruptive to the country's economy. The government has also not been able to monitor the use of bitcoin as a whole, so maybe this is the reason the government has not been able to accept bitcoin.

not entirely the government hates bitcoin, we can still see there are some countries that the government is friendly with bitcoin. Even though there are governments that hate bitcoin, I will not judge if the problem arises because bitcoin is anonymous etc., I just feel if the government is only worried about its people and investors, because we know bitcoin prices are very volatile which is likely to lose a lot the investment was due to panic seeing the market turmoil in the crypto market.

The government is afraid that paper money will disappear and instead of bitcoin, then the government can no longer control the financial markets, and their interests will be affected.

The only reason why bitcoin hates bitcoin and does not want bitcoin to get legalise in their respective nation as bitcoin transaction are now usually involve in many sort of illegal activities including terrorism so obviously no country wants that terrorism comes in their country and thus is the reason why governments of most of the nation are in against of bitcoin and the solution to this is that to legalise bitcoin all over the world, though governments will impose some taxes over bitcoin but then there will be someone who will keep eye over all the bitcoin activities.

Governments hate Bitcoin because it is a decentralized currency, and they can't control its price, market, and the transactions of its users. They want to support only their fiat currencies which can control them easily.
In fact, they hate all the cryptocurrencies because of their decentralization nature.

Governments hate bitcoin for not being able to take tax from operations. It really pisses the fat, fat politicians off. They do not understand what bitcoin is in the essence and I think that they will be able to tax everything that they will get their hands on. But it was not there. Bitcoin is anonymous and secure - so governments will always hate and ban it

No one person controlling and managing an economy isn't the crux of the matter here. Whats important is transparency. If the world did not have rules, regulations, law and order in place. Do you think there wouldn't be any chaos. There needs to be rules, regulations, law and order but these mean nothing if there is no transparency.

Governments control fiat currencies. They use central banks to issue or destroy money out of thin air, using what is known as monetary policy to exert economic influence. They also dictate how fiat currencies can be transferred, enabling them to track currency movement, dictate who profits from that movement, collect taxes on it, and trace criminal activity. All of this control is lost when non-government bodies create their own currencies.
As such, Bitcoin is  decentralized. and not controlled by government but individuals. I think this is the more reason the government hate bitcoin.

So first government need to establish a proper plan by getting knowlagde of the fluents in cryptocurrency and then It will a huge advantage for the government.

Bitcoin is also a trading currency for criminals so it is a threat to the government that makes the government do not like it. . So, in the near future, we need to rebuild the trust of the government with safe and legal trading, which in turn will make the government more secure and more stable.

What makes you think that a digital gold would prevent a fiat? There's nothing that shows that even a massively used crypto would stop a fiat from being widely used or even still mainly used.
I think that the use of paper money will not stop even if cryptocurrencies will be more popular than them. Physical money exists for hundreds and thousands of years, and for a reason people don’t refuse it. If you like virtual currencies, this does not necessarily mean that you should not like ordinary money. And vice versa ;)

Right now the money moving in cryptocurrencies is very small compared to the rest of the economy of the world, so it seems unlikely to me that governments are mad about it, what they are seeing is the potential for bitcoin to take over a great deal of the economy which means they will be unable to exert as much control over the population as they can do now and they do not like it.

Governments and politicians seek for one thing, power. They seek to gain power in all sectors including the finance of the people. Due to the decentralized nature of Blockchain, users of cryptocurrency are the owners or controllers of their own finances and related transactions. It takes that power from the governments and gives it back to the people. This is why the governments hate Bitcoin and are doing anything within their power to collapse its patronage.

Not all governments hates bitcoin, Japan is one example, they legalized bitcoin instead of banning it. Other countries are not yet prepared to allow bitcoin to become of their optional currencies because of its decentralized nature. They might need more time to study it first like what will be the impact on their economies if they freely allow their people to use bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in their transactions.

In my opinion why government dont like bitcoin because it has no tax. Government will like it if they can add tax to it every transaction. Specially on third world countries.

Not entirely. I mean tax can always be imposed on the transactions that take place.

Why does the government hate bitcoins? Bitcoin is a virtual currency that has not been properly authenticated. Bitcoin is also a trading currency for criminals so it is a threat to the government that makes the government do not like it. . So, in the near future, we need to rebuild the trust of the government with safe and legal trading, which in turn will make the government more secure and more stable.

This is the kind of thinking we need. The government isn't exactly our enemy. They are trying to protect us and bitcoin was used for money laundering. So when something is invented it can be used for good and bad. As you have stated we need to win the trust of the government back.

The government is not ready to take responsibility for what happens to the cryptocurrency market. they are less aware of the potential of bitcoin that can be given to the world. The government is also afraid of being threatened by things that can be done by bitcoin.

Exactly. There could be a rise in illegal activities, Rise in criminal organizations, Rise in money laundering. Think about it. There are multiple ways in which bitcoin can be used. But the negative effects can overshadow the positive effects. In order to avoid that we need to make sure that it can be regulated not completely. But at least place a few regulations that everyone can agree on.

Japan is an exception. There can be many more countries to follow. But none will unless their faith is put back in place. This could even be trust. A trust in the system. A sense of trust that no one will manipulate the system for their own personal gains.

I think government does not hate bitcoin they are just making sure that the people's money are safe. That is why some government are strict in dealing with bitcoin acceptance.

For me in particular, government hates bitcoin because they can't control it through its central bank.Government sees bitcoin as a currency that may perform more than its traditional currency ,and if the masses adopt bitcoin ,it will pose a great loss to its financial institution. To be more direct, government has no information on the whereabouts of the founder of bitcoin. As result ,government is seeing bitcoin as a risk, meaning no one can be prosecuted if something goes astray.
On the other hand, government is seeing bitcoin as a currency that can be used for fraudulent activities of which if that happens no one can be traced. However, government sees bitcoin as a very high volatile currency that can't be trusted. In other to protects its economy, government is advising people to avoid investing in bitcoin.Government are not not in support of bitcoin because many exchanges where bitcoin is traded are not regulated, and this trend  could pose grave danger to people fund.
Finally ,government thinks that central bank system  might
be destroyed if its citizen are given go ahead order to be using bitcoin to buy whatever they want.

It is possible that your country knows about Bitcoins, but accepting them for their people's use is not allowed. Due in part to the government's lack of control over the BTC and the other part that they do not know much about bitcoin as we should think bitcoin is a scam. :'(

For bitcoin to become truly succesful it must be both a medium of exchange and a reasonably stable store of value.

isn't it obvious?

I often said this is all about the selective choice of few people among government officials. In our government, right now they have started their mindset be molded to accept bitcoin. Going to thorough mindset, politicians often don’t accept such thing because they couldn’t be making any progress on corruption circles they always plan.

Bitcoin does have great power so the government is afraid that it cannot control it and that it will have a negative impact on the country. from what I know the government is afraid that Bitcoin will be misused to fund terrorists and so on because the Bitcoin system is peer to peer.

Bitcoin is also still not stable so the government is afraid that many people will suffer losses if they invest in Bitcoin. but if Bitcoin develops and the government knows what to do with Bitcoin then one day all countries can legalize Bitcon.

Governments and their agents (banks and their owners) hate bitcoin because of the decentralized nature of bitcoin meaning it cannot be controlled by any body or organization. It is anonymous also. The nature of bitcoin will never allow the government to collect tax or any kind of fees from millions of transactions daily. This control is what they crave for because they depend on taxes to run the government. They have been trying the centralized the crypto to no avail and the next thing will be to destroy it.

I believe Bitcoin will not totally replace fiat currency. Bitcoin will be added as a currency that will be an alternative to those who don't like to use fiat currency. Don't expect that the government will give in and let cryptocurrency replace fiat currency.
Fiat will remain and bitcoin will still be staying because of us who are still using bitcoin until today and still believing that bitcoin will recover again soon. I know that there are some governments in some other countries that don't want bitcoin or cryptocurrencies to include with their currencies because they can't get tax from there, but there are also some governments that don't don't care with it because most of their communities are already paying tax and they are already getting millions with that and bitcoin/altcoins is not a hindrance for them.

Simply because Government has no control over Bitcoin, since it is decentralized they could not get anything from it and there is no way they could stop this hype. The iDEA of Crypto give us the freedom from any third trusted party, this way we are free from any interest of the government. Since Crypto is suppose to show us the public code we are sure that are funds are well safe and secure and any potential vulnerabilities can be fixed quickly. Be reminded that we could only have this feature of crypto if we are using a storage or wallet that is open source and give us the full control over our funds like wallet Hodler wallet which is the only opensource multiwallet.

In my country, the government does not give Crypto permission as a means of payment. And if that happens it will certainly have a very negative impact on the legitimate currency in my country. Until now, Crypto is allowed to trade, sell and buy, which can only be accessed using the internet.

Government hate bitcoins because they cannot control it.

Because bitcoin is a decentralized currency.Governments cannot monitor the users associated with different accounts.
Hackers and crime can use it easily. It affects on the value of real money too.so governments hate to use bitcoin.

Bitcoin and altcoin are very attractive, the government has not accepted because they do not have the appropriate management plan, it should take some time to Bicoin and altcoin system.

It has a point. And the kind of management they want is taking charge of it. But then it is decentralized therefore they cannot interfere with it. That is another point why they do not like it. Government wanted everything to be in their control but we can also see that government are being controlled.

Most government hates bitcoin because of its transparency as we all know that bitcoin transactions can be open by anyone with the the use of internet and I think government dont like this idea when it comes to financial transactions as many of government officials in every country is corrupt and might get caught immediately if they will use public ledger like bitcoin.

I think the main reason why bitcoin is being attacked or hate by government is because is decentralized, main while it cannot bein control by them and secondly because bitcoin has not been able to be regulate so they see it as illegitimate currency. So I don't really called it hatred but just trying to assigned to which and every one involve in it that is not fully backup by them.

Not all state governments have installed bitcoin but indeed most of these countries hate bitcoin. I analyze the reasons why they hate bitcoin because honestly they are not ready with the desire for new technology that is capable of this function. The state government is not ready if this crypto currency technology is present beside us as a complement to the function of our fiat currency. Moreover, this crypto currency has a decentralized system in which the state government is not ready to control this unfamiliar system. They are only accustomed to controlling the centralized system. Only countries with high technological progress are able to control the crypto currency system. In addition, the governments of this country hate crypto currencies because they assume that the crypto currency will rival and shift the existence of fiat currencies. Whereas in my opinion, it will not happen because fiat currencies and crypto currencies will complement each other to have a single goal, namely to alleviate human work. I would be happy if the crypto currency can also be used anywhere because we don't always have to carry fiat currencies anywhere. It's too complicated and certainly very risky.

the same case happened in the country where I live, the government prohibits the use of bitcoin to be used as a payment instrument but the government does not prohibit ownership even the government considers bitcoin as an asset that can be taxed, this happens very much in countries that are not advanced in technology finance and the government financial system that has not been properly connected.

The governments hate crypto for one main reason, thus due to its decentralized nature. Bitcoin does not allow any centralized authoritative body to own control over the transaction of its users, hence grants its users the financial freedom to be masters of their own transactions. This power is taking from the governments and given back to the people.

In my opinion it is not only uncontrollable that makes the government in that country ban bitcoin, but if bitcoin is allowed in that country it will reduce banking income. Because there are many government-owned banks that can be used as a motor of development in collecting public funds. National governments have motivation to be against bitcoin and decentralization. Computerized gold would keep governments from mystically printing cash while burrowing the obligation gap. Their activities and exchanges will likewise be straightforward on account of blockchain innovation, and they're not constantly legit. That is right. The government are being concerned to what may be the effect of their citizen using Bitcoin every day in their country. It may not be true since most of the people will not be that quick to use them right?

Also, there are governments that are thinking that their people might use Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency to commit crime. There are a lot of ways to use Bitcoin and one of them is being anonymous in the transaction. It may not be that completely anonymous but it is enough to make some connections to terrorists or make transactions to commit crime like money laundering or buying something illegal out of the dark web.

I think the main reason why the government hates crypto is the fact that crypto currencies function in their own space without the approval of government. Government usually don't like things it can't regulate and control.
Another reason why the government hates crypto is the anonymous nature of crypto. They pose a threat to the security of the nation as people can fund various terrorist organizations and the government won't be able to trace those transactions.
According to government, they also pose a threat to a nations economy as the government can not tax crypto directly and people can use it as a way to hide their illegally earned black money. Crypto also decreases the dependence of people on banks which are under the direct regulation of the government. All of this factors pose a threat to the dominance of government over the nation and the people.
