of course bitcoin is the main choice to continue to hold, but there are also other altcoins like monero, ethereum, not much and it seems like I like old coins to hold in portfolios.

There will be no better altos than EOS. They have a great business strategy and have very good development ideas. They are in the process of realizing their dreams. They are making the latest blockchain technology, Blockchain 3.0. It's a sign that it's a smart business and has a great team. Investing in it now will be a wise decision.

They also have US$ 4 billion and have produced very little to show for it yet. I"m sorry but EOS is a PoS.

I hold coins as neo, eos, xlm, xem, vet and many other top coins.Of course, the main part is Bitcoin. There is still a small part in the coins that are on the bottom, just in case.

I only have a little of Bitcoin, Eth and so many other tokens which I got from bounty work last year from which I failed to sell meaning I HODL them to my dismay because their value continued to plummet beyond my wildest dreams. Well, what can I expect...if those popular coins and tokens slashed their value dramatically much more those projects which still has nothing to show for the products/services they promised during the ICO period. right now, I am hoping, wishing and praying for some sanity here otherwise by next year I would have no choice but to dispose  them like a garage sale just so I can buy a new underwear.

Why don't you guys start smart trading instead, brainless hodling leads to bankruptcy. And keep in mind that hodl is against  crypto!! The purpose of crypto is to be used daily. Not to be stored forever in wallet .

I hold several coins like, LBC, DGB, ETH, LTC, because I'm sure this coin will go up high if BTC rises again.

haha, you mean the bag holder culture of those who lose money?! :D

that is not at all a good approach my friend. for years bag holders come, give the rest of the market their money, and go out broke and then regret their decisions as they see others become richer and richer because they didn't bag hold....

No, actually  most of people here in crypto world are considering cryptocurrency as a tool of investment. Bitcoin and ethereum is the most popular coins that good for investment that's why a lot of people here are holding it than using daily.

I think altcoin is good and there are many true investors now that is ICX. ICX has opened up the event to get hold of profits. I have bought over $ 16000 and held ICX for a monthly profit of 1.8%. That is a good strategy for both ICX investors and businesses. So I appreciate it very much.

For me the main coins to hold long-term are those I think are the strongest, so mainly bitcoin and ETH. I think we have had the worst of the price drops for this year, and can look forwards to upwards movement in the nearish future.
For any coin though, so long as you are confident in its long-term potential, then there is no reason to panic or to sell yet.

So far, I still believe in the potential of bitcoin and ethereum in the future, besides, I keep storing altkoin from the hard work of participating in the prize campaign and I maintain it because I believe it has tremendously advanced potential and for anyone who has cryptocurrency assets I suggest that it is maintained and hodl.

ETH, EOS and XRP at the moment :). Although price of ETH keep falling but I still believe in ETH cause it's the best altcoin and $1000 or $2000 is not something too hard for ETH to rise to in the future. No matter how long it'll take for ETH to rise back to $1000, I'll wait for it ;).

NEO XMR ZEC I might be going on HODL for a long time,I will sell it 2 years later but I don't know whether that year has a high increase or not but I will sell later.oh yeah one more Doge my story ALT which I have been hodl, yesterday I sold a little to get results.Suggestion if you want to hodl for a long time you should see the popularity of trust daily trading and The development of ALT must be considered.

My portfolio is only consists of very few coins.

Bitcoin and ETH for real HODLs! Just like the other hodlers out there, I'm believing mostly to bitcoin and won't sell until we see the best prices and same goes for ethereum.

I think if you buy cheap and hold for a long time it's good, but if you buy expensive and now the price drops it's a problem, but if you believe that is your principle. I hold several coins like LBC, TRF for other coins I don't have because of my limited capital

I really do not know who even started this HODL culture in the first place as I do not see that as any smart investor move, but all the same, everyone sure knows what works for them. Usually, an investor should be able to monitor the trend of the market long term and take advantage of it than bag holding, but as it is, you are not still bag holding anyway as long as you understand the potential of what you are holding and you basically are in it for the long term.

If you want to call it bag hold, I have been holding bitcoin since 2013, and it was just last year when I learned how to trade that I started taking advantage of the trend, but if you really want to call that bag hold though, even for someone who has been holding since then and now, with a bottom at least for now around $6k, I would say it is a bag hold worth it. However, if you at least have some trading idea, it will always be a great help in the long run.

In addition to the top coins that I keep for a long time, I still keep almost all my coins with a bounty, in the hope that one of them will shoot! At all there is hope on EOS, NEO, BNB!

Many have capitulated in the last 300 days, let's see how much it takes for the reversal  :)

We can't force them on what they would do with their assets. Your suggestions is great because we can somehow earned profits in less than a week or even a day because trading happens anytime.

I have erc-20 tokens which I truly believe that will have a decent price in the future where I will get an awesome profit . Those who have strong hands are whales that will manipulate the price and we just need to be patience in hodl and wait them to pump the price then lets just go with the flow .

Honestly I am holding ETH for last 2.5 months and I think we should also hold BTC because btc is the top one in crypto. If you can buy more then BCH or NEO will be the choice I think.

It seems to me that, in such conditions, HODL now becoming less and less relevant. Hope is fading away that the end of this year will end in bulls, and hence the value of the coins will fall as well. Ether, Bitcoin and a couple of coins will of course remain the most popular, but cheaper counterparts are not sure.

Bitcoin and ethereum are good for long term.

No need to ask why for bitcoin and for ethereum, once casper is already implemented people would be hungry to stake their ETH to get passive income. This makes ethereum one of the best coins to hold and having a strong hand, you don't really need to be strong, just simply HODL.

Early investors have strong hands whose opening price is significantly lower than the current price and that during the period of participation in the market have already seen a number of drops

However, if you at least have some trading idea, it will always be a great help in the long run.

people shouldn't confuse HODL with bag hold. they are completely different things. although there is no official definition for them!

basically hold means when you are making a long term investment. for example if you buy gold, stock, real estate, ... you are making a long term investment and you won't sell it because there is short term fluctuation. and more importantly you do it because you see some potential in the long run. for example you see the stocks of the company you bought has a bright future, or the real estate you bought is in an area that is growing fast.
in case of bitcoin it is because you see the long term potential of this unique decentralized currency with a limited supply. so you make a long term investment and ignore the short term fluctuations. for example in 2013 you bought bitcoin when things were calm around $300 not as a day trader in that one month when it shooted up to $1200. and then you hold those coins bought at $300 instead of trying to sell or buy back,... and enjoy the current 2000% profit in 5 years!

but when it comes to altcoins, people usually buy them because they see a pump instead of actually checking the project to see if it even has a long term potential. that kind of buy and hold is called bag holding and is never going to end well because such pump and dump coins will eventually end up getting dumped and after a couple of them they will die.
that is how graveyard like deadcoins.com is filled!

bitcoin is the most preserved altcoin of all of your crypto.
that is a fact
although the decline is always happening but bitcoin can still survive and currently the price is around 6k $

The best bitcoin now is Bitcoin Cash. It had a great sublimation. It has risen more than $ 100 in just three days and it's a miracle in a bad market like this. It is certainly a potential altcoin so its price has grown sharply. So why do not we invest now and wait for its price to rise to $ 1000?
