Hi everyone-

What's the correct pronunciation of Casascius?     ???

cas-E-us?
cas-ASH-e-us?
cas-ASS-e-us?
something else?

Thanks in advance!

It is properly pronounced “ka-SAY-shuss”, though I am not bothered by the variations I hear.

LB beat me to it :) Posting on this forum through mobile phone is a pain.

C can be soft like in celery or circus. Or hard like corn or crazy.

K is always hard like karate or kangaroo... unless silent when followed by an N like knee or knob.

English is a silly language  ???

Someone should write the way it is properly pronounced using words so the people with English has a second or third language can say it right

Like

It's pronounced like with the C in corn, the a in the apple, and the s in the sam
So "corn" - "apple" "sam" would be CAS

Just in case text pronunciation isn't enough for someone, here's "Casascius" from Mike Caldwell himself:

Great source.
From what I hear, Mike Caldwell pronounces it "ka-say-cious", where the last "cious" sounds similar to the "cious" in "delicious".

No probs, original YouTube version was down, but I remembered I had it somewhere in my basement among other treasures. If you want to thank me you can send me some Merit, maybe I'll be able to put my own avatar some day =).

I also have another short one, called "Making Casascius coins" where Mike is putting holos on newly produced coins (without commentary). I will put it on the channel as well, but BitTube complains something about a format so I will need to run it though a converter first.

I was about to ask this question but after looking it up, ended up finding the answer.  Thought others might find it interesting as well:

He coined the name "Casascius" from an acronym for "call a spade a spade."

I re-posted the video link on a new thread as I expect it will be of interest to folks not following this thread.

if I had any merit I'd send it your way! :)

Would love to see the other video if you can share it.
