Title: Where were you and what were you doing when bitcoin took this huge $1,000 Dump.
Post by: mr.mister on November 16, 2018, 02:53:43 AM
and what did you think of it, LOL?

For me it was a disaster, I was just getting ready to do some btc transactions, and all deals fell through basically, and there is nothing looming in the horizon.I hope the market recovers fast.

I did pick up some cheap coins however.

What did you do??? Let us know.

I am a Bitcoin Hodler,so I just hodl...
I don't care about the current bitcoin price.I'm waiting for 2020.
What btc transactions were you doing to execute?BTC/Altcoins or BTC/fiat?
All the crypto 'experts' say that this dump won't last long, but I don't think that we should trust them anymore.

I did not have much Bitcoin. I was waiting tbh for something like this so I bought some now and sold for profit. Some times one person's bad luck is good fortune for another.

To be honest,i don't have much bitcoin. I have mostly ETHEREUM that i bought when it was in $400 something. I was in the hospital when my friend texted me saying that bitcoin is dropping drastically and as well as other altcoins. I was like "OMG bitcoin needs to hospitalize too" lol

I just made a quick search in the forum when everything happened, and that was 10pm or so in here and I instantly placed a buy order @ $5100 in a local exchange since I thought it will get lower than the $5500 I'm witnessing during those hours. I was literally blown away on how fast things went in just a span of an hour and instantly, I saw tweets from Wright and other big names in crypto regarding the state of bitcoin and other coins. I don't want to get the price go down further but in all seriousness, if my $5100 buy orders were filled, my average price would be placed @ $5600 and I'll be happy for that.

I would like to say I was taking a huge dump while the huge dump happened but that wouldn't be truthful. I was sat at my desk playing some poker and checked the price within about 10 minutes of it breaching $6000. I'm optimistic for a recovery, price has stayed steady today.

I just woke up to see the bloodbath in the market and I was so shock but I was aware of the btc hardforks which was scheduled for 15th of this month but I never thought it will have this great effect on the entire market, but thank God the market is already recovering gradually and with time I believe everything will be back to normal again.

If this is happened then hold my current bitcoin and bought more at that price and to recover the previous lost i think it will not happened instantly and that's why some people says bitcoin for long term is good and when the price low then it's the right time to buy and the benefical maybe can we feel for next year

Many media say the price of bitcoin will go up to $ 25k, I never believe that analysis, they only say and without analysis, I already know that the price of bitcoin will fall lower than what you saw this year

I believe that bitcoin can drop to $4,400 around Jan-Feb 2019.

Having said that, I think some of your stories are funny. Some of you were in the toilet, and some in the hospital when the btc drop came.

Did anyone pick up some cheap coins for example to take advantage of the offers? I picked up some ELEC for example. What did you pick up, if anything??

if there is an even lower drop in Bitcoin, then you can safely take money in a bank or sell property to buy Bitcoin.

yes, actually what happened recently has been very chaotic, the crypto world. The situation in an instant turned upside down 180 degrees, all coins turned red and only coins in the pump session were green and this was not counted, if this is still the case, then it could be possible that bitcoin would become a dump towards $ 1000

while others cry, panic
i was saying DISCOUNT DAY

say you bought some coin at $6500
now price is $5500
buy coins at discount,

now your break even is $6000k not $6500
so when prices go back to $6500.. your not breaking even. your PROFITING by $500 a coin

The situation in an instant turned upside down 180 degrees

The fights of altcoin Cash may be the reason why the market is in the red, this is my opinion, of course this is not good for the future of crypto

then it could be possible that bitcoin would become a dump towards $ 1000

I do not understand very well what you mean, but if you are thinking that the price could fall to  $1000, this is very difficult to happen, because today there is more demand than when the price was  $1000

I also spent minutes reading the comments on faketoshi twitter and this war of bitcoin cash has the biggest jokes counters, if someone is sad, just go on twitter that the person will laugh a lot and will forget about your problems

......

nah. the btc price is because minng pools are cough quality assurnce cough testing out next gen asics before releasing them for deliver in last week of december.

thus because swapping their old S9's for T15's they have a lower cost per BTC than the last 12 month support. thus able to sell for less while still in profit

..
as for craig wright drama.. thats just another altcoin. and just social drama.
funny part is on the SV chain(blockheight 556925) it is also monitoring the ABC chain.
if SV sees a block on ABC that SV dont like.

SV kills off the SV chain. grabs a COPY of ABC chain..
SV nodes then kill off the block it dont like. and then tries to build SV blocks on the SV nodes.

funny part though
ABC can just continue on as they are meaning ABC chain (blockheight 556952) carries on building 556953
and then SV ends up killing off SV new block to grab a copy of ABC. kill off that same "bad block" and then has to rebuild again
SV will just end up in a loop.

put simply if there was block 556952 that SV hated.
abc makes 556953 as normal
but sv:
keeps destroying its own chain
grabs ABC upto to 556952 and then has to build 556953 of transactions SV approves

abc makes 556954 as normal
but sv:
keeps destroying its own chain
grabs ABC upto to 556952 and then has to build 556953 of transactions SV approves(yet again)

abc makes 556955 as normal
but sv:
keeps destroying its own chain
grabs ABC upto to 556952 and then has to build 556953 of transactions SV approves (yet again)
anyone using SV with transactions in 556953 will find they will keep getting thir transaction as confirmed then unconfirmed

craig will just be stuck in a loop of orphaning his own chain and orphaning blocks above 556952(of his personal copy)
meanwhile ABC carries on and just ignores whatever craigs SV client does

no merchant. no exchange will ever want to run SV knowing the orphan drama and double spend drama of accepting SV
so craig is fighting a fight he wont win.
he will not get to re-org the ABC chain.. all he wil do is just keep killing off his own chain and his own copy

...
and all ABC has to do is create a block that Sv wont like. and then let SV just loop itself into orphan/double spend drama.. while ABC just carries on

I still hold on the fact that panicking in situations like this would not be the best decision to take. We all by now should know that the cryptocurrency world is quite volatile  and situations like this would come around. We can only hope it gets better

when a $ 1000 dump occurred, what I did was observe, I was very interested in all the issues that developed that were the background to this disaster. the battle between the community and crypto fighters with conventional banks and the government is a concern that is quite interesting for me. this is a financial system revolution, there will always be conflicts that occur when we want to change to be better.

from the aspect of my activities in crypto, I chose to take a break, as a campaigner bounty, too risky when prices dropped dramatically and I still forced myself to do the ico project. Waiting is the right choice, while analyzing information to find the right time back in this industry, like today.

take a cup of coffee and drink it while relaxing. there's no need to think too much that bitcoin has dropped dramatically. because most likely the end of this year will not be the same as last year. it could be next year  ;)

Totally unexpected, Bitcoin fell $ 1000 in just one day even though before bitcoin slowly began to increase, it turned out there was a BCH hard fork that day which made the Bitcoin rate fall too deep but I'm sure it was only temporarily

not to do with BCH

it was VC investment from last year that had a 12month contract to hold.
they finally got to sell this year.
also pools are using more efficient ASICS this month so can afford to sell coins cheaper.

craig right and others knew this.

craig just planned some social drama and forked a coin that wont last. and is just telling a story that he is the cause..
he is just trying to take credit and pretend he is a influencer. even though his coin has no impact on btc.

EG the price didnt drop at last years august event which was more directly linked to btc. so its un related to a fork of a fork that has no utility and is there just for dramatic effect

25% ina couple days.. the price was never high $7k range a few days ago..

as for too late to sell lol
the price remained at above $5800 for an entire 12 months... pretty much to the day prices have been above $5800
check out the chart from mid november 2017 to mid november 2018

12 months to sell above $5800

anyway. the price is only $5500 so only a few hundred below the 12 month bottomline. so not much risk.
all i would say is buy some cheap coins before things move back into the above $5800 range again. because many have been screaming for some good discount days. so here is an oppertunity

During that time I do nothing about it, even I like to take the chance to buy it but I can't due to I don't have enough money to buy bitcoin by that time. Only I did was only watching what is happening on its price value, lucky to those have money by that time because they totally gained much in it.

Good for you. Right move because all coins are cheap at the moment. Even bitcoin is still a good buy at this point.

Used the opportunity to buy more cheap coins.  This drop is nothing compared to hose that dabble in altcoins.  I've seen altcoins lose over 50 percent within a day before.  Bitcoin is still stable when it's compared against the low marketcap altcoins.  Just wait till the end of the year, this is when the market always picks back up.

I have never once given myself to frequently checking the price of cryptocurrency and bitcoin in particular. I got to know of this recent sharp drop from a coinmarketcap.com page image someone posted on Facebook. But basically what I did was to continue to hold despite the fact that the downtrend continued.

Well, I believe that Bitcoin has the potential to change the way we live today in financial aspects. However, I don't consider myself as a trader as I can not devote adequate time and flexibility which requires for trading. However, I can take some time out of my schedule and use it for research which allows me to take long-term investing decisions. Anything happening in the short term is not much relevant while considering the long-term growth and volatility of $1K is not abnormal for the crypto market.

I am not really a trader so I was doing nothing except holding my coins and then I watched the market crashing down, it was really surprising because the crash happened very suddenly and I was speechless for a moment to see such a huge crash when I thought the price will not go any lower and after that I began to look for reasons for the crash and I could not find anything so this is really a mystery to me.

There should be another $2000 lost before the end of the year.
None of the support floors can hold until ~$1500 , and then we don't know how long the btc miners can hold out.

$1500 is realistic, that is where to hype started.
I was just wondering why it took so long to find out. We had a 1-Year 500-1200% hype.
The worst thing of all, I couldn't get any profit out of it, since the BitcoinPlus Up&Drop one year ago wasted all my investments.
Since then I knew everything was scam, even BTC.

Off course its disaster when bitcoin drop more than $1000 but it also an opportunity for us to buying coin with cheaper price. Bitcoin volatile always happen and i think its good time for buying more coin. I am believe cryptocurrency market will survive and recover again to reach highest market cap value

Nothing just waiting for the bitcoin market collapsing and until now it is still dipping and making some bull trap trying to be positive but in the end the bitcoin market price has drop for more. As the experts says that this is just normal and there will be a time for this in the near future.
