Title: An International Summit of Cryptocurrencies on North Korea to be held in 2019.
Post by: Eirecoin on November 24, 2018, 12:52:35 AM
The next year between the 18 and 25 of April Pyongyang is going to host an International Summit of Cryptocurrencies.

The North Koreans are trying to get updated and trying to get into the digital world and the world of the cryptocurrencies, maybe they are no so far behind as we thought (for being a communist country)

The only bad thing is that Jews, Japanese, south Koreans, and journalist are not allowed.

I don't get it. They don't allow the Internet to be used on the public, then how can they possibly use Cryptocurrencies? Is it only the government exclusive thing?

All the Internet traffic in North Korea is routed through China and it is very restricted but available, and It is 100% probable the government is watching everything you do with it. >:(

Yes,i assume that only the communist elite will have the privilige to use cryptocurrencies.
Perhaps they will use cryptos as a tool to bypass the international sanctions over North Korea, when it comes to financial transactions.I remember that a few bank accounts in Asian banks, that belong to North Korea were blocked a few years ago.

I don't think any exchange can accept North Korean currency to buy crypto, and North Korean banks don't allow ordinary people to exchange dollars, so crypto is hard to be exposed to ordinary people in North Korea.
Maybe only some of their Official have a way to get crypto.

I just can not understand whether the North Korean government wants to use crypto, or the North Korean people are trying to use it. Because the people of that country have restrictions on internet usage. North Korean government wants to introduce crypto to hide its own corruption!   Think of it now?

This is my personal opinion. If the North Korean government gives its citizens the chance to use it, then I would like to thank the North Korean government.

Lol! It sounds similar to "Modi government to host an Eid party" when they want to showcase the world that they are secular.

Beware! the delegates may not leave the country after the summit is over as Kim Jong Un may want to keep some of the knowledgeable delegates at his own zoo to mine cryptocurrency for him!

If that happens I think that's unfair and they just become selective for the crypto users. And if they don't allow the internet to be used in public it means those people who can avail that opportunity are the elite people to their country. Sounds that their going to do something which I think they want to know the public citizens but I'm not sure for this things anyway.

You are right they are very strict when it comes to their people, I don't know if they will let a group or ordinary people trade in exchange, the most likely that is going to promote and use cryptocurrency in that country is the government official and it's a good news North Korea is joining the crypto community.

Hong Kong to be exact, and that is also their financial gateway towards the outside world as well.

Going back to the topic, I find it hard that the North Koreans will be holding a crypto summit, and an international at that one, for something they don't seem to be connected with (or at least we don't know). It's like the secretive nation of communists are trying to reach out in the outside world by staying hidden within the shadows (bitcoin). While this might not seem to be positive, the end result is that it's just the government who will benefit from this in the long run and not their citizens, sadly.

I'm interested as to how will things pan out.

It is not clear how a country like North Korea will use Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies. They have huge restrictions on the use of the Internet, what to say about cryptocurrency.

Well we cannot rule out the possibility that this exclusive event is for people who can help them. Although we have seen some kind of peace offering to their Southern counterpart the cryptocurrency industry might be there edge in terms of improving their country economically. Also the possibility of no news spreading is low even without the media as delegates will be from around the globe and I think it won't be avoided sharing their experiences to other people once the summit event has been finished.

I dont know what to think about this.
But I find it as a bad thing rather than good.
We know how North Korea had been running their government and their restrictions are way too much. Also, it is like they control everything there.

In a different kind of view though it will a good usage if it will just be for their country. Why make a summit for it. Let it stay with the meeting from their officials on their own country. Besides, they dont really care what others will say.

Hong Kong became a colony of the British Empire after Qing China ceded Hong Kong Island at the end of the First Opium War in 1842.The colony expanded to the Kowloon Peninsula in 1860 after the Second Opium War, and was further extended when Britain obtained a 99-year lease of the New Territories in 1898. The territory was returned to China when the lease expired in 1997. As a special administrative region, Hong Kong's system of government is separate from that of mainland China. Source Wikipedia. So Hong Kong is a part of China...

More and more countries are  interested in bitcoin now so for me it is a good new

The problem is that any nation or international company or internet company that start to trade with North Korea will be sanctioned by the United States so nobody wants to trade with them only China and Russia. North Korea has their own internet the "Kwangmyong"

We don't really know the truth do we? We do know that south-korea is more tech advanced than the USA

I also know that these same people sponsor these 'seminars' all over ASIA, and bring in the normal celebrity speakers, and host the exchanges ( sell boothes ), that 1,000's  of newbs spend $1,000's  of US dollars to attend these seminars, and that exchanges, and all conduits for separating idiots from their money work just like magic.

The fact that the same thing would happen  in NK? Why not, they have money, and where ever there is money, this group will flow to shear the sheep.

I travel widely all over ASIA; I don't see any reason that 'elite' don't have internet access in NK, maybe the low-class, but that's more of an information control thing, the leadership of NK wants to modernize ASAP, so what better way than to put the internet into the hands of every NK child, and then NK can overtake SK in TECH.

Canned 'bitcoin summits' are running monthly all over asia, what makes a summit? Maybe they bribe or pay one or two authors who might have written a book about bitcoin, then have a ton of other people give talks about how they got rich on crypto's back  in 2017, or how if you had bought BTC in 2009, that you would be the richest man on earth today :)

They'll probably announce their own coin or a fork of Bitcoin called Korea coin or some bullshit and everyone will watch the first completely centralized and dictatorship controlled crypto that doesn't have an explorer.

haha maybe! or "Supremeleader coin" buy it or get shot in the head xd just kidding hope that all works fine for North Korean people they have suffered a lot.

I feel North Korea is governed by someone who has different mood every morning. If he is upset he will make a crazy thing, if he is happy then he will allow strange things (for NK obviously) to took place. What's the point of this summit if your access to Internet is restricted? Commies party will run asics while people paying for the energy?

NK leads the world in black-market counterfeiting of currency, say $100 USD franklins,

It would make perfect sense that NK would want to go "BITMAIN" and lead the world with crypo's, and lead the world in faux crypto's would be even better for them,

Whether CHINA(BITMAIN) ends up winning the crypto race is not clear, what is clear is he who wins, gets to become the next federal-reserve bank aka reserve currency,

For those who talk 51% shit, for get about it, when you OWN 90% ++ like china, you can do anything you want,

U all really think that NK doesn't want part of this 'criminal action'??

SK is cleaner and 100X better than the USA, at best you can compare NK to USA, in terms of poverty.

What ppl here think they know about NK, or either korea is based on ignorance.

These places have more fibre optic internet, than most places in the USA.

USA is still on 1800's copper cables to push signals, and all of ASIA went wireless from day one,

It's really insane how people assume this shit because they live in a shitty country, every place else is the same,

Hell Japan has the fastest trains on earth, and China thinks their common, you can't find a single MAG-LEV train in the entire USA, or in EU for that matter. The trains in Japan go faster than the airplanes in the USA.

Most of the USA is a filthy ghetto in the citys, and meth whores and pimps in the rural populations.

Asian's put their children first, even in NK, but USA the children are more for exploitation.

Just because Hollywood makes funny movies that made leaders of NK look funny, doesn't mean it's real, it just means that Hollywood controls the minds of the sheep in the USA.

Nope, my cessna 150 goes a whopping 90 km/hr, and the MAG-LEV in Japan goes 400 mph, which is nearly as fast as most jets, and certainly faster than any prop-plane. The Mag-Levs run under ground in tube, the above ground high-speed trains go over 300 km/h, again faster than most planes.

My point was people in CHINA just assume the entire world has super-fast trains, they have no idea that USA is still in wagons pulled by donkeys.

In NK I don't see any problem having internet access if you have money.

Also not true that USA people can't go, look at all the USA sports people that have gone, ... but yep don't take your camera, and don't steal shit. It's the same as SAUDI or AE, they catching breaking the law, and you go to jail.

I have not heard anything here about anyone actually going to this conference.

Like I said earlier, most of these conferences are quite boring and dumb, being ran by the same people and the same speakers all over ASIA.
