I believe the crypto market, is heavily manipulated, I'm of the opinion that only a few very powerful people or government, now HODL the most Bitcoin, And are responsible for where the price goes and as a result the entire market is under choas. Is this even possible? I think it is, what's your own opinion?

Bitcoin price is still way overbought, but a lot of the people on here have a cult mentality. A lot of things have changed in the Bitcoin space. For instance, it cannot scale. It has failed in its mission. Nearly all the money in crypto is speculative money and as a result the price is reflecting that. R. I. P. Bitcoin.

Quite unfortunate that this is happening to Bitcoin at the current moment that it's yarning for mass adoption. Only time is left for Bitcoin to proof itself.

These heavy players are starting to get ready and packing up as much bitcoin as they can. They are preparing for the great adoption that is about to come with institutions, as said by most that institutional money will come in.

I think, many whales control the BTC market, even with very large volumes. we are feeling that whale manipulation greatly affects the market.

we can only hold assets when bearish, or buy, and selling will only make the market worse and kill themselves.

yes, we get market manipulation from the whales, and some FUDs, but that will never make BTC die.

many people are disappointed with the market today, but some are still holding on, with the hope that BTC can give a profit for them to reach more than 20K.

I know this sounds strange and maybe even sci-fi but I'm starting to believe the same thing. That the market is being manipulated into this price crush, regardless, I do hope this trend reverses soon.

Just wondering why did not I saw all these topics when it was rising . At that time nobody is trying to find out the real reason why it is rising so fast, What are real reason for its increasing so much value in short span.

Sounds like true. And if this proven correct, bitcoin hodlers would be rich because of the control of the price, i think they are letting down bitcoin's price so that several of the bitcoin holders would sell their bitcoin at low cost then guess what? it will rise again and only few people with bitcoin holders would benefit most and eran a lot of profit.

While it's definitely possible for people to somewhat control and manipulate the prices of bitcoin to a certain extent, we can't be sure of that.

Does it matter short term? Nah. Anyway, this 'problem' should be gradually fixed as time goes as the marketcap of bitcoin goes bigger(assuming the marketcap increases steadily yearly). With higher marketcap and with more money in general that's into bitcoin, the price of bitcoin will be significantly harder to manipulate and to significantly harder to skew over with big buy and sell offers.

With the recent crashes that happened lately, I doubt that they still have that much control within the market. There's simply a lot of coins that were offloaded in the market recently and there doesn't seem to be any buying that has happened over the past few days. Whipe the topic of manipulation is always discussed here, it's also fair to say that when people dump, the control or grip also weakens, suggesting a more fluid and organic market movement at that short span of time. Long-term, with many more players involved in the market, manipulation would gradually fade, and big-time market players hopefully would be erased from the bitcoin market.

In my observation with the crypto market, I think that the people selling or dumping their btc could be one of the contributors of the market dip. I believe that the btc supply in the current situation is high and there is less demand of btc due to the market dip. I also believe that manipulators plays also as part of the contributor in the market crash that is happening now.

my opinion is, use only the idle cash, wait up for few years - simple.

I think this time i have "0" opinion on this matter. Because today i am not sure of anything. The bitcoin and the cryptocurrency crush hasn't stoped and don't know what to say and who to believe right now. If someone asks me the bitcoin price can get back to $20k? And i would answer yes! But someone asks me the BTC price arrive $100? And i would answer yes too! So there is nothing to left for believe and it is not good..

Yes, that's partially true, but the market movements depend more on ordinary buyers that could either sell or hold and prolong the bear market:) As long as whales' bags are not filled, the bear market continues.

This is something interesting. It is general misconception that if whales start selling off their Bitcoins, price will fall drastically and ultimately it will become zero and Bitcoin will come to an end. However, it is quite impossible. Why? The reason is simple, although prices are falling, volume remains the same. One of the best characteristic of Bitcoin is that its supply cannot be reduced easily (yeah, it is possible if private key is lost but that's quite rare).

So when someone selling off their Bitcoins, it doesn't mean Bitcoin is reducing and going off the market but it only leads to change in composition of Bitcoin Holders. If Mr. X has 20% of Bitcoin Supply today and he sold his Bitcoins to Mr. Y and Mr. Z equally, it means Y and Z are now the whales of future and can manipulate and revive prices in future. Bitcoin will never come to an end, that's guaranteed.

These the people called Whales. Their actions and inactions most times dictate the direction of Bitcoin price in the market. This is what differentiate who is who in the cryptospace.

Well if you have the capability and the means to move the market to your advantage then why wouldn't you right? Many btc holders are easy prey for these manpulators especially those that are new to it and that gives them more power.

I also believe that there are only a few people/groups who holds the most bitcoins and that they can somehow influence the direction of the market. But I do not think they are entirely responsible for the price going down, I would rather put the blame on panic sellers.

It is held by more whales than before. As the number of exchanges increases we will see less manipulation due to bitcoin being held in cold storage wallets instead of ready to dump accounts

People are abandoning the ship and it makes it sink even faster! Anyone smart enough to read the signs understands the potential that BTC has. BTC is extremely volatile and it has been in the past as well! As someone mentioned above, no one was this sceptic when the price went up to 20k and it was also an extreme! People who invested in it should stick to it. The reverse will happen and all that story staring with R.I.P. BTC is a fairytale!

If you believe that happen, so you know what will you do. Keep believe price will up again when "that powerful people" want it to up. That is why no need to stressed out when bitcoin price fall like this.

First and foremost, I don't think I agree with you with regard to the idea that bitcoin has failed in its mission. Please, I will kindly advice that you should spend some time and read through Bitcoin's whitepaper.   This will give you some fair idea on the missions and visions of Bitcoin and blockchain technology.

Manipulation is indeed in the Bitcoin scene. From the governments, banks, private institutions, and the like which are controlled by the Illuminati (known to be connected to the Rothschild's) it is undoubtedly possible that the market is highly manipulated. Having a massive amount of Bitcoin will certainly make major price movements. This is not a speculation. Common sense tells me this is what's going on..

I think that this is natural for any markets. That Bitcoin has big holders gives us hope that Bitcoin will live. When the big players sell their coins, then Bitcoin can collapse very much.

Could be true. But the problem is that we don't know this whales, and remember this is a free market and they can do whatever they want without any consequences.


However, they're just part of the equation. Maybe there are people who wanted to sell because they needed funds for whatever reasons so they obviously wanted to sell. Or investors who became impatience of the Bakkt offering, or the Van Eck/Solid X ETF that why they sold to at least break even in this bear market.

"control" is a big word, and "a few" is an exaggeration too.

there are whales and there are manipulators who have large amounts of bitcoin that can affect the price quite a lot but they don't control the bitcoin market. if they really controlled it then they wouldn't feel the need to spread so much FUD on the internet to make others act. it shows their lack of control that they have to force others into selling if they want the price to drop for example.

things are very different with altcoins though. because distribution of coins is unfair for most of them and majority of them have such small markets that you can easily have full control over with a small amount of money and there aren't that many traders in most coins to oppose you either.

This is a good viewpoint. Seems to be typical human behaviour, I suppose- especially in the markets. When people are making money during bull runs and the market is euphoric, prices rise. Nobody complains, skepticism is at an all time low. Essentially, people are blindsided by the positivity and exponential increase in price, making it hard to even think that manipulation is occurring or is possible. Seems the opposite is true when markets are hitting their lows, people finally become skeptical, concerned, and weary. Again- typical human behaviour, and is why being emotional and trying to participate in markets strictly for investment and trading purposes is a match made in hell.


Agreed and agreed. Although there's a real supply and demand model to Bitcoin, this relates strictly to the price of the cryptocurrency. The fundamentals cannot be bought nor sold, meaning that even the wealthiest of buyers- while currently able to purchase large amounts of Bitcoin and move the market in ways, will hopefully become less of an issue in some years, when the technology is more advanced and adopted, with millions of people owning Bitcoin. The manipulations, which of course are apparent here and there, are sort of a short term issue in the grand scheme of things. Bitcoin's a volatile asset, and hopefully this will become less of an issue if it becomes widely "adopted."

In my opinion, not only a few but very many whales, their manipulation has a big influence on the crypto market, in a market situation like now we can only hold it waiting for prices to return to normal, because selling it now will only make us lose big and worsen the market .

About Bitcoin price manipulated a lot of information has been written on the websites of specialists in Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies. Are all these information true? Probably yes. But you need to understand that bots still needs human right? But it makes them easier to manipulate the price by just pushing for a big sell order or dump everything if the price goes to this level. Right now we have seen the price pushed to $4k, a bear trap? manipulation again? I speculate yes, this pattern keeps on repeating so for me, their really manipulation by someone behind to gain huge profit again from newbie traders.

It still a long run and there is no limit for bitcoin to prove itself it doesnt even need to prove itself.

For the OP, it is not impossible that whales can control the price but NOT in this big loss moments it is not about the whales its about the FUDs and also about the people who dont really trust BTC and sell their BTC on lower price because they panic.

I partly agree with your post of the course bitcoin market is manipulated to some extent. Nothing really has to do for this kind of situation but the most important thing is we should keep patient and hold our coins to make them profitable for a certain time.

I am not of that Ideology that it is only a certain group of people that are manipulating the market. Instead of complaining there is an opportunity now for everyone to buy as many as. This dip in price is about to create another set of whales.

I'm not sure if whales really do manipulate Bitcoin but I can say that there's a group that does play a huge role in price and those are miners. Miners probably have the most Bitcoin when combined and when they are influenced by something, then a price movement would sure to happen.

Walls on the market is a big influence of down and up trends.
Walls are created by the whales to get more tokens or sell high in the market.
That is the reality of this cryptocurrency!

Well I guess miners have different action regarding their mined Bitcoin, and of course Miners have the most since they are the first hand owner of Bitcoin that had been circulating in the market.  Though I believe, there are groups of individual that is knowledgeable on playing the market.  They have the capability to spread news whether it is for hyping or FUD'ing, they also have funds for fake market volume. though I guess Bitcoin is greatly distributed now than before, and besides, manipulation of market had been there ever since so there is nothing new about it.  The thing here is how can we (small timer) ride with the whales.

Yes i believe the market were controlled by whales and i believe too when bitcoin price was very high a year ago they were pump it too and when the price dump they also spreading FUD which makes people panic and dump their coins and this is why some of government in the world says crypto market were fully of manipulations

The advantage of whales are manipulating the market based upon their bias. Small investors are forced to sell their bitcoin because they are afraid to lose a lot. This is possible! Market manipulation is what i see also. Just more pace, we will see how it will rise again. It will move up once other whales will buy the bottom price.

It is fact that when you hold major stakes you can change the market through market forces and this happen in every industry if a company has major shares like 51% the have majority rights for selecting board of directors and they make company big decisions so this is also in the case of bitcoin too big whales can change the market situations and they should work for now to recover bitcoin and other coins for a good and healthy future.

Maybe yes, but if the other people who hold or have bitcoin shouldn't sell for such low price when they see the market going down. And yes is possible the price being manipulanted, but not only a small group have enough bitcoin to manipulate 100% whole market.

Although the world of crypto is fully backed by the decentralized blockchain technology, I honestly believe that the few people with large amount of bitcoin controls the market since they have the power to do so. So basically, it seems we have some sort of regulators who decides how the market should go.

I do not believe that governments or freemasons are behind it, but it is completely reasonable to me that there is a large group of people holding a majority of BTC. And they came here first and risked the most because they invested when the BTC was not as popular, expensive and significant as it is today. Supply and demand, simple as that. I do not believe in any conspiracy theory or that a few people have master plan and that the price was artificially and deliberately dropped.

nope governments dont hodl bitcoins its the core of the bitcoin developers, that hold it and the asociation of big bitcoin miners, only the currenct cryptoindex system is what keeps bitcoin valuable as soon as there will be a reindexation movement bitcoin will crash

That's true some people that have a huge quantity of bitcoin can also hold bitcoin to increase and control the market also maybe some investors selling there bitcoin so early so the price of bitcoin go down and cant take it anymore.

I believe there are some people out there who have large amounts of bitcoin, and if they gather they can control the price of bitcoin as they please. Hopefully that doesn't happen.

I think also the market is currently being manipulated by big investors so that the market is made to be unstable, and the best choice I currently make is holding bitcoin while waiting for the market to stabilize again

Its true that only few people or institution can hold bitcoin for long term. Many people panic when market drop but not with institution because institution always accumulating their bitcoin.

       I do not think it's manipulation. Bitcoin is part of a decentralized network, so it can not be manipulated. But yes, there are some big investors who have a lot of influence on this cryptographic market. They have a large amount of bitcoin, that's why they're nicknamed on the market, whales. Their actions and inactions decide and greatly influence the price of Bitcoin. But we, as small investors, do not have to invest, hoping to make an immediate profit.

Bitcoin has lost store of value feature in 2018. It is no longer a long-term game. Every time the strategy differs. And you have to keep yourself up-to-date with the latest strategy. 2017 was the year Ford hold and when people continue with the same strategy in 2018 the book heavy losses. In the strategy in 2018 was supposed to be fold and not hold. Therefore long-term whole may or may not be a good strategy

your statement is partially true and only to a certain point of view. but about the whales  well, they are only a few and can't control the price, but the mass people control the price with their behavior and tend.

It can be really manipulated by those big whales but we small fries also have some big roles inside this market that we could make in order for us to have a good price for Bitcoin.

More powerful people have more influence on the market, but at the same time, ordinary people can also affect the price of Bitcoin. We have seen a lot of jumps in the price of Bitcoin and every time someone earned good money from it.

I do not have any idea about manipulated market but I always believe that market is unstable. And somehow we all know there are whales who have a lot of tokens and money where they can control the price of one token and do you think it is true?

Wow, it's common knowledge, to those who are knowledgeable, but you should go deeper, because it's bigger than only here, on bitcoin, they are manipulating on every aspect for moneymaking and manipulation that exist, and if something doesn't exist yet, they'll find that out and exploit it to our minus and their plus. I can give you few ex. Usually news segment is full of those people, CNN answers to them, and by them I mean those rich assholes who want to kill a lot of people around the world with with new 5G newtork, and dunno what else will they find. In Netherlands, when they started testing 5G at the same time a lot of birds died and fell to the ground, not to mention what it can do to humans(you get rashes on your skin, probably fatal if too much exposure.. and you are exposed to 5G because those antennas are like 30-50 meters apart or so) So they don't just control the market, but your life too, probably.

I do not agree with your assessment, it is true that those that are holding many bitcoins are very powerful and can move the market but that is true in any market as well, besides most of those that have the most bitcoin are not really doing anything with it except buying more of it, so if anything the effect of those whales is positive for the development and the price of bitcoin.

In fact, when the market is in panic it is very easy to manipulate confused investors, but certainly it is not a few people. If such manipulation happens, then these are rather large companies or investment funds.

I also believe that market can be manipulate especially if you whales who have a lot of token. Some people have a lot of bitcoin but still they can't manipulate the price of bitcoin market. Most of people think that the falling price is because of manipulation. Government can't control or manipulate bitcoin.
