Today reverse is the case

why does it have to be Waves? there are still many other better platforms to replace ethereum. one of them is Staller or EOS, in my opinion it is very unlikely that Waves will replace Ethereum. Waves is indeed a good platform, but he is less popular.

I don't see this happening in next 100 years! Don't know why everyone thinks fast and free transactions means a good blockchain. It's more about stability, network effect, decentralization, constant progress, security etc. Everything is developed on ETH. Why would projects just migrate to waves?

I agree with the fact that the functionality of the waves is superior to Ethereum, but if you look objectively, the ether is used much more often and it is more popular, and its technological problems are only a matter of time the development team is working on improving the platform.

Personally, I think it will not happen, ETH has some problems of course, but Devs are going to solve them. ETH Devs are very good ones.
Bitcoin was also called outdated very often and so many people said it will be a flippening (ETH overtakes BTC) but it never happened. BTC is too strong to be surpassed by ETH and ETH is too strong to be surpassed by waves.

I do not know where you get these ideas, but just look at the ICO market to find out which platform is and will be better. Waves does not even have 5% in the ICO projects. The market verifies what is better and there is no doubt that Waves is far behind ETH.

Waves has been performing markedly in the current market, it's highly impressive. But for me it seems a little late. They should've been getting the recognition a while ago and before long I worry that another blockchain will surpass them. A bear market isn't a good market to steal away market-share from another project.

In my opinion, nothing will replace the ethereum position. Even though waves have a good platform / fast transaction feature, that doesn't mean it will easily replace ethereum. I honestly don't see the possibility that it will happen in the next few years. It seems that EOS has a better chance. And that too also requires a time process that is not easy.

The waves really became one of the most promising coins in 2019. I invested in them in September because I understand that this coin is one of the most promising. This growth is still regarded as pumping, but still indicators are good.

There is no doubt that Waves is a powerful blockchain and cryptocurrency at all. Waves isn't a competitor to Ethereum. Ethereum is in top of all altcoins, it has the strongest community.

Ethereum is a more professional blockchain to use. Waves is for scammy tokens which is why it is filled with shitcoin projects. Ethereum has both shitcoins and great high caliber projects so i'd stick with ETH for now

This is impossible to establish. The price of Ethereum is broken due to the abuse of ICO, but this is not enough to prove that Ethereum will be surpassed. If ICO can be supervised in 2019, Ethereum will restore its price. I still believe in the future of Ethereum.

I've had the WAVES client since 2016 and while I think its visually very pleasant and relatively easy to use (not to mention super easy and cheap to create your own token), the fact is there is a huuuuge ecosystem of projects that already ride on Ethereum -- some of which are pretty innovative and doing interesting stuff. Ethereum will never completely die, and its gonna take a lot more positive movement for WAVES to gain Ethereum-like traction.

Interestingly, WAVES is only down about 81% since the beginning of the year, compared to ETH's 88%.

I kind of feel the same way. I am slowly building and saving on having more and more XLM. Its hard because my moeny is on altcoins that value have plunged down the drain. It's so hard to get them back in its ild value so I thought of maybe investing a little and doing buy and sell XLM.

I think what you want to say is XRP instead of "WAVE". XRP can be successful because it is more suitable as a payment method outside the market, and the XRP team has won many sales channels!

when you analyze a coin like this and look at its rise and falls you should not zoom in and only look at the small picture. you should always have the bigger picture in mind. considering Waves it has been like any other altcoin for the most part. it got pumped and then dumped like others. but being smaller meant it did all that in a much faster manner.
compared to Ethereum it is also a much better platform with a better potential although it still is not the best but it is considered one of the good ones out there.

There was a lot of news about Waves. I know a team is very nice. Waves have an effective rise, even if they appear to fail in the DEX area. But it is not right for me to criticize Waves over DEX. DEXs fail overall. I think there is no DEX that has never been successful yet.

Yes, if we look at the recent wave price movements, the price increase is drastic in a few hours and now the price of waves is up to 10% base on CMC. However, I doubt that will happen afterwards, ethereum is not an altcoin that can be excluded, the community is very much even everyone believes ethereum will balance the price of bitcoin in the future.

We can only wait for each coin to show their latest features, this is a developer function. For them developers are a success of a coin, if the coin developer has credibility, knowledge and experience with the world of technology, especially cryptocurrency, then sooner or later the coin will grow well. Same when we see the waves today, the drastic price increase and the latest features in the waves I think every investor who knows this information they will immediately buy waves.

I agree with your opinion, I would have voted for Waves as the next big thing if they keep their price even though the market is in bad situation, but Waves also suffer, wait till we see a bull run and see if they really beat Ethereum as one of the most adopted coin after Bitcoin.

I actually have never seen any projects being successful in Waves platform. If we talk about beating down ETH, I also think there is no turn for Waves. Waves platform needs to make the big evolution to be the dominator of altcoins.

Ethereum have other real competitors to worry about, EOS, Stellar, TORN, NEM, NEO, Cardano, they do posses some threat to Ethereum in various sector while waves is just a scammer heaven.

They are two of my favorite coin but I doubt that it's too early to tell, Ethereum has been in the top position for a very long time and Waves is just showing improvement, it is too long to go before we can talk about surpassing Ethereum, I have to see them climbing the top ten then we can talk about Waves surpassing Eth.

I also like how waves aggressively performed in the market that maintains its popularity and potential. Introducing waves to others couldn't be a mistakes however in terms of replacing ethereum or overtaking eth. I think at this time it will be hard. What's lacking with waves is popularity as compared with ethereum. But after looking at the current rankings on CMC, Waves is #23 while ETH's #3. It will took more times for Waves to conquer ETH if its for the market cap but I don't think it will happen soonest. Once the market recovers, both will do.

Waves only reached the top 20 with the biggest market cap earlier this month. It does not have a clear indication that it can beat ETH. Its recent price increase is due to news like the announcement of the Waves mobile wallet update that allows for the purchase of Waves by credit card.

The development of platform waves is still far from expectations even just to defeat Ethereum. Because in my opinion, these waves are more or less like DOGE but have a ranking above them. Moreover, things related to platform waves are still not widely known. Not comparable like ethereum

Waves is a great platform there are no doubt here. Every coin falling down but waves growing highly in the unstable market. Don't compare with waves and Ethereum because still eth not dead what do you think. Waves holders still recovered their initial investment and in this year expectation is not overcome. But almost going to recovered i think.          

I think there's some whales behind waves price steady increase. I checked their progress and it's not that huge for me to get into it. They have been like in the past days the real eth killer that didn't make it because of the pace of their development.

I like Waves. This cryptocurrency with Russian routes has an original concept of development and it will succeed new levels I suppose. But this is not a question of conquering with Ethereum. Waves is far away from being a real competitor for ETH.

Yes, this is time to buy waves as some experts are predicting the short term targets around 0.03 BTC which is in other words more than ethereum's current price levels. I am always wondering why waves is not finding success whereas similar thing ethereum is showing this much growth in comparatively lesser time frame. Ethereum was pumped heavily by few whales whereas in that area waves is not finding any support.

Waves is having a fixed supply unlike ethereum which must be the another fact where I am believing into the future of waves.

Waves is also one of my favorite altcoins and planning to hold for long term investment. It also has a decentralized exchange which make their token very useful on their blockchain. I was also surprised that waves was one of the top gainers in Binance and i hope that I am not late yet to invest with this altcoin at a cheaper price. I'm wondering what caused the price pump? There could be a chance that it was an apple in the eye of P&D groups this week and if that is true, a massive dump could happen.

Time will tell if waves can knock out ethereum or not and I am sure we will see it soon. Meantime, we can make another profit from the increasing of the waves, and I think we can recover 50% off from the waves, right? Nothing will replace Ethereum guys. It is only the matter of time, when XRP is going back to the third position and maybe lower. Ethereum is going to have an hardfork and the blockchain update which will push its price.

I do not really understand the sharp rise of the waves. Ivanov announced that the efforts of the team will be aimed at developing a new project. I did not think that growth would be so strong, but I was wrong. It cannot be ruled out that this could be a reversal in the market and now everything will grow. But at the moment I'm at a loss. XRP is not an open, decentralised cryptocurrency. In my view it shouldn't even be on CMC. Value of Waves is at least that of Ethereum. Ethereum dropped the ball regarding network speed and stability. It prefered to concentrate on encouraging many scam, shady and non-compliant ICOs with ludicrous business models. Meanwhile, Waves in the background, has been using it's vast pot of ICO funds building the product, developing it's business and creating world class user products. It also worked tirelessly to advance legal compliance and industry standards for tokenization.

Ethereum will doubtless address it's network issues at some point in time. But at this time Waves is at least as valuable as Ethereum.

Today was 1 Waves = 0.0012 BTC. Its only start. Eth does not have the advantages of a first-comer. Eth is just a tool that is already inferior to many in ease of use and its price will soon fall.

Every alts has potential to grow and all devs will create hype to attract more new investors to put money on their project. I think investor finally pay attention to waves, it's supporting 6,000 transactions per minute which equates to 100 per second and ethereum is capable of around 10~15 transactions per second currently, I think waves is faster than ethereum right now, anyway waves could also interest investors with its dual business focuses of token creation and smart contract blockchain functionality and decentralized exchange, giving it two markets to drive success.

As ETH and BTC fell, Waves had a very strong growth, almost 100% in a week. I think Waves can overcome ETH if ETH continues to fall in the next time, look at XRP, now ETH can not pass XRP again

As for the WAVES platform then rise no matter what. The only drawback is a bad attitude to the community - the lack of technical support and a huge amount of false news. ETH was not seen in this. It is far way too much to think that waves will take over from ETH. There are other coins that have got better features, yet they are yet to overtake ETH.

One thing you have to understand about this life is that nothing is indispensable and if you manage to lag a little bit without considering the things you need to do to upgrade as quick as possible, then you will definitely get to find yourself being screwed over. If care is not taken, when it comes to smart contract, ethereum will end up losing that spot, and looking at some of the things that waves have going on regarding development, I would not be surprised. Vitalik promised a lot of things though, but at this stage, action is needed, and not promises.

I want to share my thoughts about WAVES, I'm hodling/following the project since more than 1 year, and the recent 300% pump on the monthly chart is just awesome .

I bought WAVES more than 1 year ago at 85k. Then I saw the coin down more than 80% like 95% of all coins, but now, WAVES is back on this  85k + range !
I never lost hope on the project, because i'm liking/using the dex to trade and lease so the price is not the only imoportant thing for me.
Now, I can say that I know what mean the "HODL" term : A lot of emotions .

Ethereum is more used/popupal than WAVES, everyone know this. It's the same for a developer, when you come first on blockchain dev (like smart contract), you start to learn first how to create a smart contract on ethereum ,because there is more tuto/video .
Also, developers are "lazy", do you think that someone who made a script on ethereum using SOLIDITY will start to learn the RIDE language from WAVES ?
Maybe it will only take some hours/days  to switch from SOLIDITY to RIDE , but I think there is not enough interest .
So less dev, less "DAPPS", no "KILLER DAPPS", less volume, less interest ...

But this is not bad for WAVES.
You're not buying all your coin on binance ? Coinbase,bittrex,poloniex,kraken.. They are all "popular".
So ETH can be the number one, WAVES will be the 2nd or 3st.
If you think about crypto adoption in the world, if 50% people in the world using crypto, it will be 3 to 4 billion people buying crypto every days/months/years. To be in the 2nd or 3st place in this case will be awesome.

My thoughts about the price are that it will be very volatile for the next 2/3 weeks because of daytrader ect...

Waves will not be able to do anything with ETH because today ETH is a project on which projects are released by default. I think that today this is probably the most significant project after BTC. Therefore, in comparison with the Waves is not entirely correct.

Waves and ETH are the two coins that have own platform. Waves recently launched new updates that is user-friendly. Of the two ETH is more user-friendly. If ETH update few in the upcoming days it will be more user-friendly.

In my opinion last increase of WAVE is related to luck. Because new version of mobile wallet could not influence the price so much. It's high time we stopped tagging price action to how great a project is. Also, comparing two great projects make no sense to me when it's only about price pump. I like both projects, WAVES and Ethereum , but I really like ETH project aim and achievements so far. Yeah the pump in waves price was due to big news, ETH Constantinople and other big news might cause same effect on price movement.

ETH already being replaced by XRP that cant be determined to judge which of coin is better but the market capitalization shows us the overall interest of people are turning to XRP while ETH struggling to prevent its price dumping maybe we will see eth recovering again but that is uncertain.

I don't think that Waves will be knocking out Ethereum because even though it can overtake on the coin market cap listing but the value is way far from behind it is useless because of a 50 times hype by Waves would be a twice by ETH and it's over.

They honestly have really come a very long way as far as I am concerned. It is nothing new that the waves platform if care is not taken, over the years have been believed to take over the smart contract space. I know it is still too early to be judging and predicting what the future holds, but at least with the way things are going, it has a good chance for the future of smart contract usage.

Waves is a standalone product that doesn't need to be compared to Ethereum or any other platform to see its merits. While there are popular cryptocurrencies, there are their analogues that surpass them and step by step develop in the shadow of more popular counterparts. I think your opinion is based on emotions. For the last time on the market is really there was little positive news and growth rate of the Waves is very good. I am self-confident that the wave will take place in the air of 2019. The etherium should achieve good growth by the beginning of 2020 the etherium will be on the moon. I adhere to the etherium but this is my personal opinion.

Waves never replace eth and both of project more potential their own platform. In 2018 was eth golden era in everywhere working that but i think there are a lot of stable coins in the market and upcoming new projects in 2019 huge chances to replace eth. Because it's already lost second ranking position. Recently waves dev released big excited things.

The waves have been very pleasing to me lately. This is not true of ETH. Today, the waves are already 3.5. ETH also made a reversal from a very strong decline to 90$ and now it costs 106$. But the waves have shown themselves to be much more stable than ETH lately.

Definitely Waves is a project to watch out. It brings many upgraded solutions and it will become a top coin, but there is

Eth is performing pretty bad in these past months and it drop alot of percent based on the price charts . while waves is becoming stable .  i guess this was the reason why many peeps ( including the op ) are saying that eth is dying while waves are performing well    .

No, I don't agree with your point of view. It is very difficult to go beyond the Ethereum. Ethereum is still the top coin and will not be realized in the next decade. If it is not the abuse of ICO, Ethereum can despise the waves.

I think the competition between crypto is not limited to its technology. I think its financial supporters are the most critical. Even though Ethereum is currently in third place, it is still the king of ICO.

There were indeed recent consistent rounds of pumps of Waves for a week more or less in December of 2018. I have some Waves in my portfolio. And I also noticed that despite the market which is bloody red all over, Waves is standing out with its high green. At that time, the project had just announced its upcoming Vostok Project, which is a part of the Waves Project, and that it had secured a massive $120 Million in its first funding. It was a huge news. And the potential and confidence on Waves have went really high, causing the price to get pushed up. This would be a great contributory factor to the development of the project. Waves has been consistently good but this will take it a lot higher.

Although Ethernet may not grow too much in the future, Ethereum is the basis for creating the myth of the 2017 cryptocurrency market. Ethereum will not be easily overtaken by other coins. Other coins cannot go beyond Ethereum. It is impossible to achieve at least until 2020.

I don't think so. They both are platform based token. And both of them have high market cap. But among all platform based token ethereum is the most popular and used platform at this moment and it's hard for any other platform to take over. Waves has one of the best idea among the platform ecosystem in waves anyone can create a chain in waves. And there is many features in wave platform not only wave in almost every other platform there are many features which is essential but ethereum doesn't have that. Still ethereum is the best platform available.

Not anymore. Waves got its potential not knocking down ethereum right now , eth maintains the top2 on cmc and with the recent bull run i don't think waves got the chance to knock eth down. The rise of eth now will make more investors buy more eth.

Waves have very small chances to compete with Ethereum. In winter, the waves showed good growth, but I think that they were too overvalued and they would not be able to repeat the growth that was in winter.

I disagree that waves will knock out Ethereum. Nothing of such looks like happening. For a long time, they have been far away apart and can't be compared. A coin that I see giving Ethereum a run is litecoin. I believe it's currently undervalued and will move up in no time but definitely not waves.

i don't see the possibility of it. Ether is a widely used ICO platform. it has built a huge ecosystem. Waves are a young platform. it is not really innovative. it cannot replace ether.
