Title: Which ETH wallet supports the upcoming hard forks?
Post by: cheezcarls on January 07, 2019, 03:42:12 PM
Hello guys!

I think some of you are aware that 3 Ethereum hard forks are on the way:

* Classic Vision - January 11
* Nowa - January 12
* Constantinople - January 16 or earlier

I also heard that Binance is supporting the forks. My question is what other wallets are supporting the upcoming Ethereum hard fork? Can it be Metamask? MEW? IMToken? Jaxx?

I'm gonna stack some ETH for the upcoming fork, so any advice or suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you.

any wallet that has private keys support ETH hard fork. Metamask, Ledger Nano S, Trezor.
also there's several exchange that support ETH hard forks, Binance Kucoin BitForex OKEx Huobi Global and Bibox you can put your ETH in their exchange site. they has announced that they would be supporting the Ethereum Constantinople hard fork. They even mentioned that even if creates a newly forked chain, it would distribute the assets to all the users or the holders.

1. classic vision has no identifiable team so the project is questionable.
2. nowa has been exposed as a definite scam with shuttershock photos
3. constantinople is a real fork, but you won't get any free coins, any eth wallet is fine

Well. MEW confirm that they only support Constantinople fork.
Hey #MEWfam! We've had a lot of users asking us about the upcoming #Ethereumfork – as always, MEW supports all official #Ethereum foundation forks, which means we are ready for #Constantinople and there is nothing you need to do to prepare!  #teamMEW

Lel. So, we shouldn't expect to get free coins. Because we really won't get free coins at all from the upcoming fork.

Just keep your coins in some wallet that you have its private key, not any l=kind of exchange, I think the second fork is just a scam but the first one and the last one could be something useful for ethereum .

Any wallet that you control the private key will be able to claim the fork coin. However, be careful when claiming the fork coin, there were cases of private key being leaked in the past.

If you have your wallet private keys, those wallets are supported to the fork. Please don't use exchanges wallets, because of exchanges wallet's private keys owned by the exchanges. But some exchanges will support the fork. Please check out their websites and social media channels to get those details.

lots of markets that support hardfork ETH,
but from all exchanges, I recommend choosing binance, or trezor if anyone has it,
if you want another exchanger, Ekox and Huobi can be an option.
all depends on each individual's taste.

Constantinople fork is a fork with no chain split so no new coins coming ,its just a ETH upgrade ,all you have to do is stay away from sending and withdrawing from your wallet till the upgrade is completed

First of all.

Classic vision and Nowa just another scam airdrop. Someone has found an interesting thing if the fact that nowa has stolen others photos from the internet and then putting it into the site. Both of these forks are scam forks. Constantinople is the only real fork.

MEW will support completely and we should only trust MEW at this time. If someone else is required to use another wallet, stay away from it because it's definitely a scam. In this market to keep the most secure assets only MEW if you have Ledger is better because it will secure your assets.

probably you're right and i agree with you eth hardfork are suppported of any wallet where eth listed into exchange no hurt feeling for those ethereum holder's for sure there will nothing free coins from upcoming hardfork because eth is so expensive and this fork is for the ethereum correction because of a year downfall trend.

Ethereum HardFork Constantinople Hard Fork - ELI5 Edition

What is it?

A non contentious hard fork to improve Ethereum.

When is it?

Block number 7,080,000. 13 and a bit days from now.

Who is doing it?

Everyone. This is a non contentious fork, meaning that nerds on Twitter and Reddit aren't fighting about it.

Do I get double ETH for FREE?

Technically yes. But the old ETH will be worthless, and the new ETH will assume the value that the old ETH had. ELI5: No.

My ETH is on an exchange, what do I need to do?

Nothing!

My ETH is in a MEW, Mycrypto, Coinbase Wallet, Jaxx, paper wallet etc. What do I need to do?

Nothing!

My ETH is on a hardware wallet what do I need to do?

Nothing!

I got contacted by someone asking for my private key to upgrade my ETH or whatever?

It's a TRAP! See above.

I run a node what do I need to do?

Update it! But if you don't, you won't lose your ETH or anything so don't stress too much.

I mine, what do I need to do?

Make sure your miner is pointed at the new chain.

Is this going to increase the price?

Maybe?

Is this POS?

Nope.

What's this even all about?

This hard fork is adding the following EIPs. Most notably, this hard fork reduces issuance of ETH by 33% from 3 ETH per block to 2 ETH per block, as well as a few other neat upgrades. You can read about them below.

EIP 145, EIP 1014, EIP 1052, EIP 1283, EIP 1234.

WTF is a Constantinople anyways?

Constantinople was the capital city of the Roman/Byzantine Empire (330–1204 and 1261–1453), and also of the brief Crusader state known as the Latin Empire (1204–1261), until finally falling to the Ottoman (1453–1923) empire. It was reinaugurated in 324 from ancient Byzantium as the new capital of the Roman Empire by Emperor Constantine the Great, after whom it was named, and dedicated on 11 May 330.[5] The city was largely located in what is now the European side and the core of modern Istanbul.

Thanks for this short and concise info. So no valid coin forks since Constantinople is just an upgrade to be supported by the eth mining community.

I also was confused before after hearing some rumors about this upcoming hardfork and I don't know what to believe in, either there's a new token to be lauch or not. The real thing is there's no new token, Constantinople is just a change in protocol (from PoW to PoS). Well, I'm not also a geek to fully understand about that hard fork but one thing is for sure — they will have an upgrade in their system and no launching of token will happen.

So for OP, no need to ask for a wallet that supports a "new token" because it was clearly a misconception.

Whatever it is, I would never store any of my ETH on those exchanges. The last thing you want right now is for one of them to just suddenly go down or worse still exit scam, and then all your ETH is gone.

They won't be worth much, these hard forks. Just stick to your MEW. Use ETH as normal.

Since this has no identifiable team, what do you think could be the fate after the fork? I read through their white paper how they want to preserve the Ethereum vision, and to be able to process about 25,000 transactions by seconds and some other components. There are some coins trading in this community without identifiable team, they are doing fine, am just thinking how ETVC will fair.

1. Eth Classic Vision: No exchange support this hardfork. Only user personal wallet like: MEW, Jaxx, Imtoken, etc.
2. Ethereum Nowa: This 100% is a fraud with a fake team.
3. Constantinople: Some exchanges have announced support for this hardfork, which I know: Binance, Houbi, Bitforex.

Yes it is applicable for constantinople fork. It's more of an upgrade so basically no new coins will be generated. And for the two other forks, they are likely to give new coins but I don't think its a bright idea to depend and think that those coins will be worth it.

classic vision there is an anonymous team but until now everything is fine and it is not a scam. I think they want to remain anonymous for security reasons and let's wait for it on January 11th
We will know if they are legit soon.

constantinople this is the only and long discussed fork, for the rest there is no useful or reliable information at all. And wallets as for ether - ledger or trezor.

What is the advantage of hardfork Ethereum now?

Any wallet that support ethereum and all other altcoin will work for them I believe and if it turns out otherwise then they will come out with either metaface that will work with the splitting units, this ETH hard forks will help in lighting up of the heavy burden being lay on the ethereum network.

All the wallets you listed should support the forks, most especially the wallet that you own a private key to. Then there are some exchanges that have  announced the support, most especially that of constantinople. Apart from Binance which most people know, Coinex also sent me a mail, to state their support.

For now, the only official hard fork I'm certain about is Constantinople. It is supported by the wallets you mentioned : MEW, JAXX, IMTOKEN etc plus exchange wallets like on Binance, Kucoin, Coinex etc but be sure you are holding your ETH in a supported wallet. Talking about the other two hardforks, there is no official update on those from Ethereum foundation.

I have seen Classic Vision !any times, but i do not trust them. Their github was created few days to the start of the project, which makes me not to trust the project, coupled with fact that the team is anonymous.
Nowa is a pure scam. While Constantinople is the only one that is present sure to be genuine. So know what to go for.
So iam not also surprised thztmost exchanges are supporting Constantinople.

I think the suitable wallet for most forks is your own personal wallet, not exchange wallet.
Myetherwallet is a simple wallet that support most forks, and if you want more secure wallet, using metamask is ok.
As long you own the private key of the wallet, you will be able to prove the ownership of your wallet.

As far as I know, almost all Ethereum wallets can support forked tokens. So don't worry about it, some small exchanges may not support it, but you can extract ETH into your own wallet.

I think all of the wallets you mentioned support HF ETH, because all the wallets you mentioned are personal wallets that you hold on your own private key. But if you ask which exchanger supports HF ETH I can also mention it : OKEx, Binance, Huobi, Indodax.
But all of these exchangers only support Hardfork ETH Constantinople, for ETCV and NOWA I think there is no exchanger that supports it

I think every big wallet and big exchanges like binance kucoin okex huobi etc will support the hardfork. But they announced that they will support the 3rd one Constantinople hard fork. The other two fork is not official so they are not gonna supported by any exchange. If you have to claim first two you have to hold your ethereum at myetherwallet. Cause they will not support any multi wallet as long as exchange. And the 3rd one is very important the Nova is kind of scam and Ethereum classic vision is also not good. And if you want 3 of them though there is no coin in Constantinople keep your ethereum in myetherwallet. It's a suggestion.

Definitely like that, currently ETCV has not announced that any exchange will support them to list, they announced that by the end of January there will be an exchange listing them. Let's wait for what will happen on January 11 and then, this project really makes me very curious.

Any wallet that you use private key for accessibility can be used, I prefer using Jaxx and mycrypto desktop wallet version, more safer than an online one, this is the best time to buy Eth but I'm surprised it's not pushing Ethereum's price.

As long as the wallet you will use is a personal wallet, and I think personal wallet is something that you have more access with for example, the wallet address is in your control as well as the private keys because exchange wallet doesn't provide us our private keys.

We don't even hear any advice for MyEtherwallet won't support for upcoming fork, so I'll be better to keep my coin in MyEtherwallet and lets see of what will happen after. But I don't have doubts that upcoming forks will cause change in the system and still any ERC20 token will be acceptable in my wallet.

I also wait for this forks that main eth wallets support new coins of fork. Developers said that ETCV and ETN is non-official that's why not giving private keys away is first step of security. I personally use MEW for storing my eth and holding private keys in hand is better than believing to exchanges that can ignore upcoming forks. For more information visit site stated on my signature for etcv.

Yes indeed, MEW supported the fork and if you are trusting that you have a secure wallet using this web based wallet will let you gain the coins from this upcoming fork, just make sure that you fully activated every security that will keep your coins safe then you are good to go, just wait for your new coins after this fork.

I do not think that you will receive coins from hardfork if you use exchange platform for keeping ETH. I am using myetherwallet for Classic Vision. And do not knor nothing about the other two hard forks.
There are exchanges that support the hardfork. Binance has made known its support and some other prominent exchanges. If you have an exchange or exchanges that you use you should contact the support to verify and if such exchange will be supporting, you might have received the mail from them.
Although, i would personally prefer using a private wallet.

Not all the hardforks are genuine. Most are scam, although it is bit yet evident that classic vision is scam, but how sure are we that they will not ask for us to login to a phishing site. There are different strategize that scammers use in scamming their victims. If ETCV eventually lunches to another blockchain, then pay rapt attention and be more careful with the swapping process.

1. classic vision has no identifiable team so the project is questionable.
2. nowa has been exposed as a definite scam with shuttershock photos
3. Constantinople is a real fork, but you won't get any free coins, any eth wallet is fine

Nova is scam his site was reported like a pishing stay away
Constantinople as stated above is not giving any free coins
In a case of classic vision you have to keep eth in your personal wallet where you own your private key to know more about that fork open link to his ann in my signature

Hello guys!

I think some of you are aware that 3 Ethereum hard forks are on the way:

* Classic Vision - January 11
* Nowa - January 12
* Constantinople - January 16 or earlier

Thank you.

my advice is that you better not participate in hardfork other than the Constantinople hardfork. because ETN and ETCV are unofficial hardforks and I see a lot of signs that they are scams.

and for the Constantinople hardfork there seems to be no new coins to be produced. so you don't need to hold eth in your personal wallet.

I think MEW in any case will be supported in all fork ETH. I think, like most exchanges . Through exchanges it is better to check with the teams. I think on the stock exchanges will also be known soon

In my opinion it is best to store your coins on MEW. In my memory, this is the only wallet that supported all Ethereum hard forks. But if you want more choice about hard fork support stated: Binance, Hotbit, BitMart, ABCC, CEX.IO, OKEx, OKCoin, Bibox, Huobi, EtherFlyer, TOК, WazirX, Exodus, Koinex, Catex, Indodax.

from the information I heard ethereum will give birth to a coin named Etz or etherZero, even though the news is still not valid but the information we can at least hold for a while.
and as far as I know MEW, Meta Mask, Blockchain.info, Etereum Wallet, Mist, JAXX Pair, ledger wallet, TREZOR will support hardfork
and regarding advice, I suggest you have to be careful because hardfork will not always have a good impact on the holder

According the whitepaper of Ethereum Classic Vision, the Ethereum Classic Vision tokens will be airdropped to only users with their ETH tokens in their private wallet like MEW and not wallet address on exchange sites.

It is written on the project sites that the main wallets will support future Hard Forks. However, today I saw on Twitter MEW that they would not support the first Hard Fork.

MyEtherWallet only supported Constantinople, that is why I am doubtful if the other remaining hard fork is legitimate. Some are saying that this are scam forks that will just ask for your wallet and steal your ethereum. There are sources where you can find answer to this questions.

Constantinople is the main hardfork and it is supported by most of the wallets and big exchanges. Like binance, huobi okex coinex every single exchange will support Constantinople hard fork. Cause it is the main hardfork announced by ethereum team. The other two projects are unofficial fork Nova and Ethereum classic vision. So they will not be supported by any exchange or any wallet. If you want to claim this kind of coins you have to put your ethereum on myetherwallet or any wallet which is made for ethereum and it's blockchain. And I think MyEtherWallet is the best wallet to claim everything. You don't have to worry just put your ethereum on mew and you will get 3 of em.

I am very much aware of constantinople and classic vision, but i am still trying to envisage what the later would be or look like, because no exchange i yet to support it, unlike constantinople, coming directly from the team of ethereum.

The fact is that this update should not be confused with hardfork ethereum Classic vision, which is also scheduled for the near future. The results so far are unpredictable.

The easiest solution would be myetherwallet and maycrypto.com, these wallets 100% support upcoming Ethereum hard forks. I advise you to create a separate wallet and transfer to it the necessary quantity of Ethereum.
Agreed. This will be the right decision. As far as I understand for the first hard fork is not required anywhere to send your private key. Therefore, if before hard fork is such a condition or requirement it is not necessary to participate and transmit your private key.Hardfork should just in fact on 1 Ethereum in your wallet give you 3 of their coins.I hard it all to believe but nevertheless I have nothing to lose.Let's see what will be waiting for us on the 11th.For other wallets I don't know.I will use myetherwallet

I think all official ETH wallets will support this and we don't need to worry and big exchanges like binance have also been confirmed to support Hardfork and will distribute bonus coins if there are branching afterwards

Yea, its confirmed with the top exchanges so we have a lot of choices where to buy and hold ETH. Its good that a lot of exchanges support the hardfork and I’m confident that we will going to be more successful this year as the big coins are now moving to provide us a more quality service.

I dont care about the First two fork on the list.

3. constantinople is a real fork, but you won't get any free coins, any eth wallet is fine

This is the real deal for me! those 2 will be on the way but i dont guarantee it will be good in the community.

A lot of them would support the ETH hard fork, but we don’t know them yet. Although I do know that wallets like Trezor, MetaMask and Nano S will support the fork, just saying though. Lets wait till then, before then any wallet you’re using will give out notifications on whether they will support the forks or not. So have patience and wait.

Binance, Cryptopia, Kucoin, Okex support Ethereum Constantinople Hardfork. I think MEW, Imtoken, Metamask and other wallet will support Ethereum Hardfork, i think if you save your ETH in your wallet you will able to join and receive some airdrop, some exchange will support Hardfork but their service just support only Constantinople hardfork.

I know for sure that the hard fork will support MyEtherWallet and bittrex exchange but the exchange is likely to support the Hard fork that will occur "Constantinople - January 16 or earlier" personally I keep Ethereum in myetherwallet wallet .

MyEtherWallet wallet supports the upcoming hard fork. But I will keep my coins on the Binance exchange. I think that after hard fork the price of the coin will fall.

I just realized what you said, it turned out that they didn't have a team that we could identify. then what about ETCV? is this really a Hardfork project from Ethereum?
