Title: I was blackmailed
Post by: bbc.reporter on January 13, 2019, 02:07:24 AM
A brand new account messaged me and demanded that I should pay him .04 or he will tell my campaign manager something and I will be removed from the campaign. He also said please hehehe.

If you want to stay in the campaign of sportsbet, then please send me 0.04 to this address
138PbvqbXuGvm7zS9GcVsSPa9QfiGfKpMZ

If not then I will tell the manager and you will be out

I did not respond because I knew I did not do anything wrong. However maybe he thought that .04 was not enough to party because he increased his demand and sent me another message.

If you want to stay in the campaign of sportsbet, then please send me 0.04 to this address

Now I am requesting .05 to not report you to jeremypwr.

By this time I looked at my post history but I cannot find anything wrong. I messaged jeremypwr to tell him someone was blackmailing me. He replied by saying that I should not pay the blackmailer. The word baby was also mentioned.

Hopefully you don’t pay him.
He did however post a link to you referring to me as a “baby.”

2 hours later I received another message and I was informed to be removed from the campaign.

Here is your comment he was referring to, which he also sent me this link:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3133481.msg33564432#msg33564432

So do you think I'm really a little child?

I told jeremypwr sorry and left it up to him if he wanted to accept me again or not, which was ok for me whatever the decision was. He is still one of the best managers in the forum and this does not change anything.

I decided to keep quiet about it afterwards. I did not take anything personally, I also did not mind being removed from the campaign and I continued posting in the forum as normal. However, I received a taunting message from the blackmailer.

Whats happened?
you are not in campaign anymore

I laughed and I decided to make this thread to expose him because Lordbrown might be an alt account of someone in the forum who might not stop blackmailing me or the rest of you.

So, you got removed from the campaign just because you called the manager "a little child" more than 10 months ago? Damn, that's what I call a top-notch manager.

Edit: Yo DarkStar, why did you merit me? You little baby >:(

This doesn't really make much sense since the 'child' himself responded to you in that thread a few hours later. If you'd caused him to burst into tears at the time and call for Mother I presume he would've put a black mark on you forever.

I think that reflects rather poorly on the thickness of his hide. And you're a little bit naughty too. Smacked botty for you.

Comparing jeremypwr to "a little child" is insulting to children. I know toddlers with more self-restraint.

It was nothing personal for me. This thread is about the blackmailer who might also be someone else in the forum.

Maybe he's just an alt.

But I don't think there is any way we can find out who he is.

Yeah but jeremypwr should not remove you. It's not professionalism. It's nothing to remove someone from a campaign. I agree with what suchmoon said.

@TryNinja. Agreed. However he might also want a hero slot in sportsbet.io campaign. I am not certain, however I reckon it was full at the time when I was blackmailed.

What I find stunning was that whoever it was  also paid the copper membership fee  :-[ What a loss, however he/she might try to get in sig campaign as some campaign would accept the account as Member Ranked, Since it's been proven as blackmail is there any chance of it being tagged ?

I'm surprised that extortionist was sure that the manager will remove bbc.reporter from campaign for such harmless phrase.

I can bet a stale donut that jeremypwr created that alt to boot you out of the campaign. It makes no sense that a random nobody found that post (which jeremypwr had already seen) and that it ended up being a good enough reason to remove you.

Either that or jeremypwr is more petulant than I thought, which is quite something.

What I find stunning was that whoever it was  also paid the copper membership fee

Even more reason to believe that this person has a direct financial benefit from this situation.

Some campaigns usually pay an incentive, for those who report irregular posts. In the chipmixer campaign, there was a user who reported another user who received a neg trust. Users who participate in campaigns that pay well are a "target" for other users, who will search the entire history in an attempt to find something that can open a vacancy in the campaign.

I do not believe it was jeremypwr. He has already removed or changed users without giving any great explanation. He does not need to create a great reason to remove someone... unfortunately.

Good on you for not paying up. Odds are they would have released it anyways or just continued to circle back anytime they needed a top up.

As far as being removed from the campaign in this case no reason would have been better than what was given really. Unless you were out slamming who/whatever you were promoting there is no need to punish. That being said I've always assumed a campaign manager could add or remove users as they see fit, considering it is their name and reputation on the line.

I do not believe it was jeremypwr. He has already removed or changed users without giving any great explanation. He does not need to create a great reason to remove someone... unfortunately.

Sometimes people holding all the cards enjoy playing and making people squirm. I honestly have no knowledge of the individuals involved, so I'm not saying this is what has happened. It just wouldn't surprise me that someone spent a few extra minutes of their time to toy with someone for their own amusement.

I would say the weirdest part of being offended so late in the game is that they had replied to that comment in that thread.

Having had some contentious interactions with jeremypwr I'd say that's exactly his style. He doesn't need a reason but having a manufactured one would make him (in his mind) more righteous. Anyway, that's just my speculation. It's a bizarre story regardless of how you look at it.

That action of jeremypwr is a child act and I guess that's self explanatory to say. Moreover, it proves his trust rating as a failed bounty manager.

That proves the "little child" reference was quite accurate.

Big LOL at Lauda on a rampage.

This is indeed a bizarre situation--there's no way in hell I'd ever pay anyone blackmail money like that.  I'd assume they were either bluffing or that the campaign manager would not act on the information, especially if it was something as silly as that post.  But jeremypwr did.

I'm hoping jeremypwr will stop by and explain himself, perhaps providing some PM quotes from the blackmailer or at least an explanation for OP's removal.

Looks like he confirmed OP's accusation lol

By the way, shouldn't this kind of drama be in the reputation session? Meta is already filled with Lauda trust threads...

That's quite a heavy punishment for a slight offense (if that can be called an offense). And the bounty manager already saw it when the incident happened, so it was hardly a secret, except time increases the gravity of an offense.

There may be a lot to this yet to be discovered, and I agree that it fits better in the reputation board.

With what you posted I think you have not committed any offence that will warrant your remover from the sportbet campaign and to even said you informed the manager earlier about someone trying to blackmail you and he advising you not to pay, this alone is enough to justify you personal comment on the manager person calling him a baby long ago.

Jeremypwr could actually be a baby after all,the more reason why the troll got to him and pissed the hell owta him months after it was made, and also considering he was aware when it was made.
I guess be was planning an epic sack letter for you from the campaign, well orchestrated I must say.
Definitely he owns the both accounts,no one would believe you'll be kicked out from the campaign if they report that.

@everyone. This thread is not about jeremypwr. This is about the blackmailer who might be an alt account of someone else in the forum and who might also blackmail you.

jeremypwr is one of the best campaign managers in the forum. This does not change that and I do not take my removal personally or any of my future removals by any other campaign managers personally. It was only a signature campaign.

Well, it's pretty comical watching people descend on the Chipmixer thread as soon as there's a sniff of space so I can imagine this type of behaviour will become increasingly prevalent. There seem to be more decent looking campaigns than there've been for a while but still not enough space. Are you keeping an eye on who applies for your space?

I don't think there's any way of telling who it was.

I still don't see what you did wrong. As I can see, jeremypwr responded to that post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3133481.msg33584411#msg33584411 accepted you and then kicked you later because of it? Doesn't make any sense.

Anyway, don't pay these criminals money, once you pay them they will keep coming for more and more until you won't have enough money to pay them and then they will tell what you did(or didn't do) anyway. Report PM to moderator.

I only tagged the perpetrator of the extortion. It's jeremypwr prerogative to not want to work with someone who he feels slighted by.

Thank you for those kind words; you've been a helpful and consistent participant from the very beginning as well.

As my PM mentioned, I probably overreacted a bit and impulsively removed you from the campaign.

It was somewhat childish, I will admit; and have already added you back for this week.

If anyone receives any PMs demanding money, don't pay and report/block.

Hello people, I have a question about trust. It's a bit off topic, but is related to the case.

When I see Jeremy profile I can see coinlocket$ feedback in my trusted network. However he doesn't have any feedback from dt. Is it because he has more than 100 earned merit?

Does this mean that anyone with 100+ merit can now tag people?I mean, in the default trust network.

Come-on guys. Putting he back in the campaign doesn't change anything.
Certain things cannot be undone.

He just kicked a guy for childish reasons, received a red tag and is now suddenly"seeing the light".

Coinlocket$ is now in DT2 added by DT1 member qwk.
Also you have misunderstood the trust system.

For being a DT member, you don't need to have a trusted feedback.

There is no need any criteria or feedback to become DT2. Any DT member could add you on his trusted list and you will become DT2.

For example if I am on DT1, I can add you on DT2. It's simple.

To become DT1,
You need to be active and make your custom trust list with minimum 10 people's.
Then 10 peoples should add you on their custom trust list who have earned 10 merit.
Finally 2 peopels should add you on thier trust list who have earned 250 merit.
Then you will become DT1.

Hope you got the point.

As said, trust and feedbacks are 2 different things.
One the previous DT network we got a DT2 with red trust, ref https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5080581.0

Also, my feedback on jeremypwr is neutral (not positive so his rep value will be the same) and suite the campaign where I am, Is a highlight for who join his signature expecting a regular weekly payment, without delay.
