I think we will approach a more regulated crypto environment when at least 80 percent of the altcoins go to zero value. Most of them are currently in hibernation or decline, but they have not gone to zero yet. Most of them have no real place in this space. They have been created just for short term gains, and the sooner they go to zero the better. This sort of purge is necessary if the crypto environment is to be established more firmly.

this is not new news anymore, everyone already knows this. that's why no one really invests in the ICO. You can see that almost all projects that started ICO from last year were destroyed and their tokens have no value. even so, there is still hope for a new project that wants to develop, namely by using STO. but I haven't seen the impact of the STO until now.

Well, you do not udvili me. I think 9 out of 10 projects will be fraudsters, or simply will not be put up for exchanges. This is a difficult time for all of us. If nothing has changed, 2019 could be a failure. If this happens investors in this industry will not stay.

This was totally going to happen as the crypto-world experience a boom never seen before in 2017. Well, if the market stays the way it is, then there is no stopping of alot of tokens hitting the zero mark. Its is very much imminent. And the reason, the projects are running out of finance to carry on with the project so they prefer running away with whatever is left.

I think that is a natural thing because when the token enters the market, the status of the project is still in the refinement stage, so the price of the token has still not reached its highest point and another reason is because there are many bounty hunters and some investors who sell their tokens when new tokens enter the market, this phase should be exceeded and the token price can recover but I admit that due to poor market conditions it will be more difficult to realize it

It is technically impossible for most of these tokens to zero, but it's true that with each passing day they are losing people's values and interests! Because they are no more than just developed digits on some platform. The correct thing to think is that tokens should represent the value of something and do not reserve and maintain the value, these projects do not have reserve capacity or even payment!

The whole ecosystem around cryptocurrencies kinda needs this happening. When coins that really are pointless and don't have any reasons to exist in the first place go to zero, people will start putting their money in coins and tokens that matter.

Smart investors knew that from the first day, they brought with huge discount and sold out in first peak, then they moved to another ICO, while other people held their tokens hopping that their value will grow like Bitcoin and that was a mistake.

yes, maybe in 2018 and 2019 we will see many tokens that will die because some developers choose not to do anything when market is bad but maybe when market lives in the future they will work again and make the tokens back have potential

It is obvious and most expected as 99% of ICOs we had in 2018 and 2017 were facing difficult times for last 12 to 14 months. When they are not having any concepts for developing their project then they may look for running away with their raised money. Their tokens in exchange might have got dumped heavily and then may get delisted. This is not new to this space but I am not ready to experience these again and again.

It's quite obvious thing. Weird projects can't have long and healthy life... There were so many of them and even now it's clear enough that more than 95% of them were scams. So I won't be surprised when SEC will come to get rid of them.

Some cryptocurrency projects have little to no background and no long-term vision as well, the projects are just good on paper and offer no real life value so eventually such projects will see their tokens loose its total value in long term and most to never rise again.

My opinion is that there are currently many tokens that have no value in the exchange market. This decline was caused by a lack of interest from investors and also due to a decrease in the price of Bitcoin which resulted in most Tokens being Zero.

The CEO and other experts were saying the fact at that time, but the bull run might have been a little prolonged had it been it was not pronounced. I still hodl many of them and yes most of them already zero but there are still few of project that have a chance to bounce back at least to ico price. Yes it is ! Obviously, most ICO tokens now had no value/s for the reason that most of them are not listed on crypto exchange/s and some can be traded in Decentralized Exchanges using contract address if it these tokens are Erc20 tokens. Most of us are being discouraged to invest on new project/s because of the market's situation.

New tokens listed nearly everyday in coinmarketcap and some of them dont have any live product and good development, so that token will be no demand and its will going to zero. Choose crypto in top 10 coinmarketcap is more safe to invest because that all has more adoption and the community is bigger.

At present there are a lot of coins that have low value and not even value. most developers don't develop the projects they have. There you go, you said it right, the 2017 ico bubble craze is over specially that we are in the bearish market now. It was not evident in 2017 as there are people who FOMO and despite lots of scam have been pulled by different projects that year, still didn't stop and put their hard earn money to a project that have no value or no real life usage. So fast forward 2019, bear market, no one is willing to pour money to ICO and so they simply and slowly die down.

And I'm still why these companies keep launching their ICO when there are very few investors that are going to invest in this ICO, in just a few months ICO will just die if the ongoing ICO will not perform better and kept their promise to investors and supporters.

Those shitcoins are now losing their value over time.  I am one of the victim of shitcoins and I really regret that I bought altcoins that are worthless. I now using the lessons that I learned for me to not experience losses again.

Such situation is quite possible. Those projects that will be leaders in their field, who will create unique products or solve existing problems in a simpler, faster, convenient and cheaper way will survive and be able to conquer the market.

Some ICO's managed to collect big funds in 2017 and until now some projects can't deliver the roadmap. They only sell the idea and with the current market condition only the projects that have a working product and real world solution will survive. Some tokens used to have 100k usd minimum volume per day and now they are down to 5k to 10k usd per day and others have zero volume.

That can be happen because alot of project does not have live product and the team developer did not continue to run the aim of the project. Some projects are good but the developers are slow or less experienced which means it may take some time before it launches fully, in a bear market such project will quickly die off, but in a bull market, the price may remain stable for some time before the huge milestones are met.

That is truth and I think the major reason why bitcoin and others cryptocurrencies fall in 2018 was because icos market which was the trending then also failed.  Many of the tokens we have today will not be in existence in some years to come because there have no values.  Everything related to icos are now being seeing as scam and few people are investing in the cryptocurrency now.  Bitcoin itself is not doing too well.

That sounds too good to be true ,its not easy for that to happen because for a coin or token to get to zero then no one will buy ,sell or trade ,no demand at all .

During last month I have been "cleaning" my portfolio (I had 60+ coins) and most of them are from projects that will likely die. What I did is just sell all of them and move those funds to the projects that I still believe in. Just want to focus on a maximum of 10-15 coins, which is easy to manage.

Yes, with time many coins will be dead. Many coins do not have a projected use case, some have very fake team members who are just in for cashout. Some even copy whitepaper of other projects, showing how degraded they are. So with time, some coins are going underground. But those with use cases will prevail.

That's the result of legitimacy and many coins will loss their value badly zero. We called them shitcoins, investors never look into this kinds of coins cause there is no used at all. In my view, I pick only 500 coins, which will live, otherwise, I don't have any hope about others 2500 coins! In 2018, I have more than 40 altcoin in my MEW wallet and its total value is more than $ 10000. And until now I still hold it and its total value is $ 120, In fact there are more than 30 altcoin dead and the rest is much reduced.

There are tokens purposely made to spam while others are solely created for scam purpose, so, one should not expect good from those created to spam and scam, they will all end in ZEROS not even one will survive.

I completely agree with you. Before ICO investment we all have to make great research. We have to learnd which team will rule the project? Which experience do they have? What is the really project is? How they use the social media and marketing channel. This is all important detail.

I have some that has zero value and can be added to a collection of junk tokens. It is true but still the future value of a token depends on the future of the project itself. The project has to be successful and supported even after the ICO so the future value of the token can be counted on. So many projects launch ICO and after the ICO you can hardly hear any update about the project. The developers themselves do not pursue to develop the project so the token value also dies.

To some extent, agree with you. There is a lot of competition on the market and not all projects can withstand it, there are also many other factors, an example is the onslaught among states since the issue of cryptocurrency has not yet been resolved.

Tokens are the one which is not for long-term it is always better to sell the tokens right away once it is listed, If you plan to hodl I am sure you will not be benefited as you thing, because I have went through this before couple of months I worked for an ICO project where I got nearly 90000 tokens when it was listed the value was $100, So I thought to hodl and now the value is nearly $10.

We definitely do not need a dozen of tokens for a single specific part of the sector. It would not be sustainable. Even the hard work is not always enough to be successful. This is my anxiety. The number of new tokens popping up, while the old token is not handled. So the value of the new token is not necessarily successful. Now, many people realized that utility tokens are really worthless and that is the reason why they are going to zero.

Well I agree to that, as many tokens/coin created way back 2017 are full of hypes and no real use-case in the long run. My prediction is 80%-90% of altcoins wont survive this bear market and become a dead project without developments.

Many coin projects are not sustainable for the long term for one reason or another. Sometimes the devs are aware of this but most times they do not consider it till they have gone deep into the project before they realize their projects do not rely on their tokens before it can work. I totally agree with you . Many icos don't have any real values . They were just introduced to take advantage of the unsuspecting investing public . Such projects would in the long run becomes of no value . They will be abandoned and their tokens would go to zero. It is just a question of time

As there so many ICOs that goes with the competition it is really expected that some tokens will go to zero. So many have just gone without clear reasons why. If they ended losing or for any reasons. The ones who have made a name are even sometimes struggling and chances are the only thing that remains will be the already established tokens.

When they say "most coins" I wonder whether they just mean shitcoins because up to now, there isn't anything stopping the trading. There ain't no news which token has turned zero. Coins that are listed on exchanges already may not really goes zero because even just with less than 100USD of volume, a trader can set a buy or sell order  for a higher price. I have more than 100 tokens from many projects in my wallet, but only a few have value in the market. the rest only became dust in my wallet. So I agree with the author that token doesn't can be long term investment. Only a few from thousand that still survive so far.

It is expected that many will have no value along the way of crypto's popularity. Mostly, doesn't really have that purpose to go on and were just created to make their devs richer. And as SEC intervenes with its relation to crypto's, they are going to be stricter and many ICOs on plan will start to re-think. If they are serious about it, they might survive like any others.

The value of tokens tends to zero because the projects to which they belong do not carry any benefit. These projects were created in the wake of the growth of the crypto market and then the investment was very easy to get, because everything in the price grew, even outright shit. I don't think this is something new on the market. Not all the coins that enter the market survives for long term. Most of these coins that die off normally do not have a working product which keeps the demand of the coin going, others have product but the product is not highly in demand, others are run by inexperienced team etc. This is what calls for the extensive research into a particular coin before investing in it.

I think that depends on how the team develops their project, basically the token will have a sale value when the demand for this token is large and has good development. if all of that is not owned by them, chances are the token will not have a sale value on the market.

Exactly only those who have a real purpose will remain valuable in this market and those shitcoins will be dead. There are some coins already gone and for me they deserve it since they are not here to provide good services instead they are here for money.

Did they sell their cryptos at the right time so that they have enough liquidity to keep the development running? I guess a lot of projects might have been to lavish with their ICO funds and now that their tokens from the developers share have dropped so drastically in price, they got problems keeping the whole project alive.  Already a lot of projects had to dismiss part of their team and the longer this bear market continues, the more projects will get problems.
