Title: What do you look for when investing in new projects?
Post by: Elon Payduh on April 07, 2019, 08:56:39 PM
As the title says.

I have been interested in cryptocurrency for a long time, but only invested in a few coins like Dogecoin, Bitcoin and Litecoin.

But what do you look for when you search for new projects to invest in?
Algorithms?
Products/Services?
Utilities?

Tell me what you do, I really want to see how others pick projects to support and invest in.

If you are talking about newly created projects, the current situation is appropriate just for IEOs. Most ICOs will cause you to lose money in the current case. There are also good ones among ICOs, but it will be difficult to find.

I try to cover a variety of use cases. Other than that I look at roadmap, team, any potential competitors, and I also look all over the website. These help in assessing the level of professionalism of the project, and how likely they are to achieve what they set out to achieve. Price history can also be useful as an indicator of when to time your buy-in.

Honestly, for now, I'm more interested in projects with the concept of exchange, whether it's decentralization or centralization. Besides that, I also see what the coin ecosystem is. the concern now is the launch of several exchanges

From some time i not invest anymore on new projects, i see a projects some month ago and they gather funds to get listed on exchange, but after some time they send 1 bitcoin to one dev from team, and that guy run away with 1BTC and coins not get more listed on that exchange, just a scam project. And also people not more invest on ICO because ICO don't bring any profit over past time.

But if i will invest, i look at team, i will search what they want to do, i check if is real team or fake names and photos,.

Yes we still have few ICOs that are genuine, I personally don’t know what those genuine ones are still doing in ICO when they would have just approached any IEO exchange to list them, although I know that IEO has its own cost attached to it which is not quite too much, what thy would have done is to use the money that has been raised through ICO to migrate to IEO so they can reach their investment target within few days.

IEO of exchanges are very fast tool for developers in raising fund, but the setback it might face soon is dumping of prices too.

first you need to decide why you are investing. if it is because you believe in the project (as in the technology of it) then this question is very different. you can invest in coins that will never give you any profit because you like their technology.

but if your reason is profit then none of the things you said (Algorithms, utility,...) matters anymore if you are a trader and they matter the most if you are an investor.
as a trader you should only care about pump and dumps  and since all the altcoins can get pumped, they are all good. but as an investor you want the coin to have a future so a lot of things become important most of all the utilities of the coin, its usability, the supply, adoption, ... with that said your options are limited to only one coin and that is bitcoin.

Before making investment on ICO's of course the most important  is the genuine team behind and very professional when it comes running a project especially if it's new wherein always make sure first who are involved behind on it and obtain specific information always to avoid fake project .  so that also no more worries after putting a investment on it.

They should at least have a real life usage, otherwise if will be just the rest of altcoins, being used for pump-and-dump scheme and the more you have money and deep pockets the more chances of you making lots of money.

I don’t invest in new project, but already existing ones, I look at their past performance if they have any, I look at how strong their community is and reviews they have gotten from many investors, I  look at their project team and study them thoroughly to see if they can deliver or not provided the ICO I am checking is to that of scam that will put up  fake profile in their whitepaper and finally, I see if they have  working product because this is very paramount to me in every project, most if the coins I have invested in all have working products.

I have a feeling you want to launch an ICO and looking to access what people feel about your offerings, my advice is do not offer anything that is not better than what we already have int he space, we have so many copy-cat projects in the space and no one is using them and no or little community size which is important if a project is to survive and make it

The first thing i personally see and judge is that how practical is the project and how much can my investment grow if i invest at the start and what should be my exit targets some other things that i try to analyse include experience of team members, authenticity of project and community or supporters for the project.

From my understanding of what you mean by ' normal non ICO projects,' I guess what you mean is an altcoins which ICO is already conducted and the coin listed. If that is the case, then you should chose from the top listed coins in coinmarketcap. Aside just choosing, you should be aiming for project which has a working project or services. Though utility could be an additional plus.

But to answer his question, I would prefer a project that has working product or app already.
Not an alpha or beta, but working product with active users, have been tested and proven by clients.
With this in place, you would know that the project is not for short-term goals in this crypto space.
Many are raising funds just to initiate their project, but with the failure to raise such funds, comes with the abandonment of the project.

if you don't mind, try to find out about the tele miracle project. I think this project has good potential in the future. with the concept of telecommunications (which is a very important requirement at this time), plus the existence of passive income programs for token owners, I think this will be an interesting project.

new projects are more monstrous to invest than old coins. there are some projects I see their products and communities are good only when entering the market the price is destroyed.
so I suggest investing an old coin.

I am a medium-term investor, I do not care much about what you say when choosing a new project, I only focus on the financial potential and plan marketing of the executive team. You know? There are many good projects but still not successful because they don't have enough funding to operate. Also talking about long-term investment and trust in the future, I only choose Bitcoin and Ethereum. Also I don't see any projects for me to trust.

First, I look at how feasible the idea or project is. I understand how what most new project managers or owners do is to talk and talk in a bid to be convincing, without workable figures and real facts, so I look up the team for two to three real players who do or are into what they are introducing and how workable what they are offering.

The team is the most important. You need a frontman who will publicly promote the project to attract other investors. If the own team do not want to promote it then who will want to invest in it?

As the product they offer keeps becoming high in demand, the value will slowly continue to rise to the point where by it will also become very useful as a tool for store of value but this can quite be a fantasy, as many ICO we now have lacks these 3 things we talked about.

Unfortunately, some project don't have that passion and dedication to drive their project for a long term. Some of their members will be transferred for new projects or even resigning cause of some conflicts inside which it probably be turning into nothing. It is some reason why many project turns into scam allegations and the sad note is that, they'll do actions for their recovery instead of letting it to be happen.

First I look for utilities then look at products or services, in a project for example A we can conclude the information itself whether to develop in the area or not. Besides the next step is to analyze whether the product is copying someone else's work or not, Investing in a new project may not immediately get instant results and it requires a long process so that service analysis is important.

Maybe I should see that the project is real and has a real product. If we get a good project, of course, our investment will also be profitable. So we must be careful and not get a fraud project.

Those functions that you said aren't gave an affect to you to get profit. As have said above when you invest yoh have to know your intend itself. But if you invest because you are an investor then you can leave those things, find some coin that has the interesting movement prices, also find some coin who has a large community and I believe these things will make your money safe although the crash comes. Most people now uses cryptocurrency just for gain profit only, there are a little person who use cryptocurrency as payment system. So, it's depend on your intention if you have a strategy to make cryptocurrency which has a good system then you can choose the category as you said in OP.

everything must be a criterion, although the risk is always big. this is the risk of investing for ico especially there are many emerging ico scam. so you should be able to see every potential investment in ico.

If all of them are good, then i will investing my money/coins into the project.

But, before this I checked the website whether it is secure or not means https:// or only http://? If https:// then only I go forward further.

That is not the way I see the importance of team to a project, those scammers that are also promoting their project to scam people too are team and they are very effective when it comes to promoting but a team should be a strong one that can constantly generate strong ideas that will lead to the success of the project, without a strong, reliable, successful; and intelligent team, the project will have no success, as they will not be able to create a product that will be high in demand by people, and it is only when a product is high in demand that the coin becomes valuable, even if team are not good in promoting, we have bounty managers that will do that for them.

Anyone here who has got profit when invested in new project especially thru ICO project? I really interest to know it. I myself always eschew to intend investing in new project because I'll have a lot of risk when decide it. I only choose some altcoin that has been listed on the exchange or most of it I choose bitcoin to store my money. As above said, cryptocurrency just used by everyone for investing only they just look at the funcionality for each project. Moreover if they only choose altcoin who has a big of risk like pump and dump which I guess it is not the best place to save for long term investment.

Yes, it is indeed difficult to find the right reasons to participate in a new project, because new projects are very vulnerable to fraud, so if we do not have extensive insight into crypto and especially ICO projects, we recommend that you do not try to follow them.

products, services, utilities, and team work, these 4 factors are very important for making a good market chart pattern. but, today many people are afraid of participating in the ICO, stable market prices, and many scam projects make investors choose other alternatives, such as joining the IEO or they prefer to analyze coins in each market.

If you are talking about newly created projects, the current situation is appropriate just for IEOs. Most ICOs will cause you to lose money in the current case. There are also good ones among ICOs, but it will be difficult to find.
it is very true what you convey in your opinion at this time and in conditions like now it is very difficult to find projects that can be profitable in investing

I look for the goal of the project especially when it is feasible, you must also not forget about checking the backgrounds of the team if they are successful with their profession. Quality team means quality project so you must check every single one of the team members of the project to see if they can do what they are presenting.

Need to check every detail in the proposed project. And if there is at least one thing that seems suspicious to you, then this is already a serious reason to start doubting the integrity of the project.

Forget about investing in ICOs, instead of investing in new projects it would be better if you invest in some high potential altcoins. The price of most altcoins are cheap now.

I think it mostly needed to be transparent for everyone to see what happened in the project when entering into this project and it need more trust and confidence to the development then only a person will ready to make some investment and that otherwise it will be more difficult to find what happened in the project at the end only we can see the result.

I like to participate in projects that are in the retail field, sometimes such projects often have strong teams but for this year, large ICOs often fail and most are fraudulent. I like to invest clear tokens and coins on the Exchange.
currently the exchanger project is very much indeed, and most of the exchanger projects are successful even with little bonus or small bounty allocation. but at least they don't commit fraud.
Yes, it will be better we commit our funds to utility tokens such as the ones from exchange, but we should not just rely on anyhow exchange token, we still need to look for the popular exchanges that already gain the trust of investors, some exchanges too are practicing more of scam than we know it, some of these exchanges that rate low quality ones, steals people’s fund, play game with peoples investment by buying projects coins on their platform and dumping it, I even learn that some of these exchanges are behind some failed ICO projects that we didn’t know. But, we can trust ones from Binance and co.

Algorithms?
Products/Services?
Utilities?

Mainly what I'm looking for is value/profit of the projects (which is possible/ are how much is right now), place and capabilities of that.
First of all, it won't be profitable if the project will fail, you should have read their WP and know more about of their previous works and their team if they are legitimate because some of these team that they posted doesn't exist in real life or they just take the photo of someone and put a fake name and their information.

To be honest, I have also opted for the most reputable and prestigious cryptos over the years such as bitcoin, litecoin, ethereum and doge, because even though their technology seems to be surpassed by new developments, this market has shown to be quite reluctant to change and innovate, and still relies on the cryptos that have been established as a model to follow over the years for their stability and their powerful support community, surpassing many altcoins that promised to be strong competition for the above mentioned.

And everything seems to indicate that the strength of these cryptos will continue for many years to come, so I think they are a safe and profitable investment in the long term.

It will be the basis and must be done by everyone not only investors but also project to the traders and the bounty hunter as well.
my own is more to see in the product, whether or not there's been a real product or not. Yet if we can see the idea of the product to be created. later can be accepted by the market or not. We can make our assumption from reading all that is provided by the developer.

You make a very good point but very investment in the crypto currency have it own risk involving and the best thing is that investors must have the knowledge of selecting good utilized coin with community support because every crypto currencies has potentials including those that have quenched off the market but there potential is grade by grade. However, what I look for before investing into new project is the concept of the project, the vision the team had, the level of competence of team and community support.

There are a lot of fake and scam new project back in the last ATH price but the issue are not like before because we have people doing the fishing out of such project on this forum and don't think that should be a problem anymore. When I want to choose new project I go for project that are license or have a reputable team with outstanding vision.

I was the superficial type because maybe, I really  didn't know what to look for, So as shallow as I am, I would like the platform to have that "professional" feel to it. Social Media accounts and social media admins/managers should be active all the time. I want someone to be there to answer me when I have some questions. White Paper should be well written and the content will somehow tell you whether its has some real life use or whatnot.  Lately though, I learned to look for "is the token going to be widely and extensively used?" coz that's the only guarantee that it will be a long term project. really.

Usually I do some research and make it simpler. To invest in new coins, I always put the potential of the coins in accordance with the project's purpose. and the second is to find evidence that the project is a real project.

There are things that I consider upon investing in new projects because I have learned my lessons. I have invested a lot in shitcoins before and I have to be careful this time. I assure that a certain coin has good potential and is profitable in the future. I also look for a project with a good exchange and of course a trusted and active team.

indeed, that is what investors must do before participating in the ico project, but for now it is very difficult to get a project that can be used to gain profits, we must be careful and patient in conducting considerable analysis and research.

Many things must be done so that we are not trapped in new projects that are of less quality. Research well and correctly will find projects that are able to develop and have a future so that it is feasible to invest in the project.

Investing in an ICO project that must be considered is a real product and supported by a real Team. So that this project, I think has the opportunity to succeed more. But if you are in doubt, you can invest in established coins. Like the top 10 coincident market coins.

Title: Re: What do you look for when investing in new projects?

I look for the goal of the project especially when it is feasible, you must also not forget about checking the backgrounds of the team if they are successful with their profession. Quality team means quality project so you must check every single one of the team members of the project to see if they can do what they are presenting.
Need to check every detail in the proposed project. And if there is at least one thing that seems suspicious to you, then this is already a serious reason to start doubting the integrity of the project.
That is right, a very good and project that will be successful must be integrity compliance, the team must be transparent with every of their details and should be accessible.

I know, this technology calls for anonymity but when it comes to extracting fund from others in a genuine way, nothing to be anonymous about, any project that cannot make his or her team accessible by giving a full detail about them, like place of work, direct contact number and many more should not be giving a chance to have any part of our money, they should be more kin about persuading people by all means and not be after anonymous systems alone.

There are lots of factor in choosing a project or potential coins.

On what you have mentioned those are prerequisite of the good project. Likr they should have a working product or mvp. Stay away from projects that are mainly focus on raising funds anf more focus on the sales. Tendency it could be a scam project. You can notice actually if the project is good, there are lots of development progress and more talks about the product itself.

Most importantly the team. As an investors, its youre job to check if the team is real one, cause there are lots of fake accounts that has been used in crypto.

What about bitcoins ?  you forget that bitcoin is the base of all cryptos  , whatever happens to bitcoin , this causes a backfire  to other coins  . ico on the hand is a good investment compare to cryptos because ico are more cheaper due to their bonuses especially if you are an early bird investor . they are cheap but that  does not mean that the profit that you will be earning is also cheap   .  ico can pump 10 or more times as long as you are lucky to join a good and active projects   .

I will invest in a new project if it is a project with a large community and available investment funds. That's what I need at a new project in the crypto market.
I will all print all the money I have on some such projects and I will soon get rich or I will soon be poor. The risk is quite high for my investment, you can refer to it. ;)

It will help when looking for ICO to invest in, but there is no assurance still if the team will pay you back. Most of the time the team publish everything that makes their image good to hear for the investors. ICO now are just a game of luck for the investors. Even they put a good platform,in the end the risk is still high.

I always invest in Products and Services, because it is when clients get more quickly interested, some algorithms refers only to development, and most people do not understand, the part of utilities is also important, although I think many bounty hunters have a clinical eye to enter into this type of projects, however my biggest investments I take for bitcoin, eth and Monero, because they offer me greater security and confidence, they have a high market capitalization and present incredible communities.

Nowadays to support a project what I notice is that Exchange is going to be listed, because if it is in Level 1 Exchanges I would see it as a very serious and reliable project.

You are right, ICO investment now is like gambling and I think if ICO is to see the light of the day, we also need to start introducing some policies.

I picked on one point from this forum recently where someone said, any team member should be able to do a video conference call with us at a particular time, showing their face and introducing their project to us, from there, it will eliminate all these false portfolio they put in their whitepaper, right now, they need to also start doing KYC too, while reverse should not be the case.

If ICO does not quickly do something to gain its relevance back, they might as well lose their relevance completely to IEO and STO.

I agree with your opinion. In fact, investing in new coins has the opportunity to earn more profits and most of the coins that are on the market are having a very cheap price and are very suitable for investment right now. In my opinion, investing in ICO always faces a lot of risks and not everyone is lucky enough to earn good profits from these projects.

I really don’t get the first part of what you mean by Non ICO coin, is there any project that really didn’t go through ICO? Even the popular Bitcoin went through ICO, Binance the greatest exchange went through ICO but I can’t seems to picture any project that didn’t go through ICO and if there are any, then it must be few.

But that is not what is important, the most important thing to any project whether an ICO project or a Non ICO project is really the product and services they render, each developers has to make sure that whatever project it is they are building on, the product should be able to attract users and not just investors. If project attracts users, they have the tendency of staying with the project more than investors that are just there for the profit purpose.

You have a point, since some Ico are good at the very beginning and no further development on their project. Might as well invest on those altcoins with proven concept and can develop their project. Actually their are a lot of factors to consider before investing so always analyze first before investing into new project.

I remember that I agree with you, but you need to take into account the fact that not all users of cryptocurrency are familiar with reputable developers who can be guided. Today, even a full study of all available information is not yet a guarantee of success.

It seems to me that today the game market company is irrelevant when security tokens have already appeared, whose projects can guarantee a return of funds for investors if necessary.
