Title: MERIT SOURCE application Post by: El duderino_ on April 15, 2019, 07:58:12 PM Dear Bitcoin Forum,
Why do I appeal for this merit source status? I have enjoyed the respect of many of the well-respected and long-term members of the forum; from the Economics (Speculation) section, the Marketplace (Goods esp. Collectibles) section and beyond. I have likewise shown much respect towards the other members here as well. I have received much of my merit for my positivity in tough times and for trying to raise members’ spirits. Most of the time, I use the Merit system to award members for the quality of their posts, for bringing good spirit and/or humor to the community but also as thank you for proven service. I have been merited very much; not always on high-quality stuff, but maybe because a lot of members kind of like my good spirit regarding Bitcoin and the positive relationships I have forged around the WO and the forum. I feel that I don’t have enough merit to send to all the posters who warrant it and I want to become a merit source so I can be more involved with the forum and share more of the same goodwill that’s been afforded to me. I’ve been a registered member since July 14, 2017 when I entered the forum thanks to a friend who introduced me to the Wall Observer thread. This was the beginning of my Bitcoin education and for about the first year or so I visited the WO thread exclusively because I really thought it was the entire Bitcoin forum not realizing there was so much more. Thanks to some very helpful members, I developed a better understanding of the forum and discovered there were other sections and threads.... LoL ::) I know, but I believe this shows my dedication and my desire to learn. There will always be people/members like me, still in a learning phase but having the best of intentions to learn and a willingness to be involved with Bitcoin so when such a member crosses my path I know I will be there to help them find their way around the forum and I would also like to be able to merit those members when merit is due. I also believe that there are many more "NEW" quality members on the forum trying and willing to participate, to build on to this amazing community that deserve some merit. There are likewise many quality senior and hero members as well posting lots of good stuff but having difficulty receiving sufficient merit to propel them to legendary status. The bulk of my activity has been in the threads I mentioned at the beginning of this post but I have also visited Dutch-language section a few times and I could be a bit more active there as well as a Merit source. There is a Dutch idiom "kaf van het koren scheiden" which translates literally in English as "separate the wheat from the chaff” and means "to separate the valuable from the worthless” – as a merit source, this would be my motto. The forum is a community of people helping one another when and where it is needed. As an example, a fellow forum member proof-read and corrected this document in order to help me with my desire to become a merit source. My first thought was that you already were a merit source, and wanted to be removed from that status.

For what my opinion's worth, I fully support his promotion to a merit source.

posts that are objectively high-quality, not just posts that you agree with. The posts you are citing are examples of the types of posts you would be giving merit to if you were a merit source. I think a lot of the posts you are citing are really just low effort posts that would only receive merit if the sender was friends with the person posting, or something similar. ^ I have released this thread a little before I was going to sleep... So you clearly can see I only have the Smerit that were generated cause of this thread.... When he isnt at Mcdonalds he is always a wonderful contributor to the forum and very friendly to everyone. He is a true Bitcoin hero and deserves it.

he encourages others to participate, run free games with not unsubstantial btc prizes (and faithfully pays them out), and is always willing to learn new things. he has been striving to improve his writing and english skills (with help from other members here), as it is not his native language and has made great progress on that front. in short, he is very dedicated to this forum and BTC. and he is very free with giving out merits, in fact he is usually out of them. basically he uses merits the way they were meant to be used.. get them out into circulation. he has my vote. There are many users here been doing that especially some of them know that smerits could also be sold in a high price due to its demand on some members that would like to rank up. This the reason it has only few merits generated in the forum and other than that the circulation of merits were mor likely to be found in this section and not the SMT where one can find a thousands of posta everyday to which some.of them are literally good and constructive.The good post that are found in bitcoin discussion should have given the chance to reward a merit for this section is the best section in learning the basics about bitcoin. This is base on my experience as man of the users discussing about bitcoin, I learn it gradually. Some of the high ranks here stated that they ignore those sections (SMT) because they do not like to see a lot of shit posts there. We do not have any choice by that because we know that users are not native English speakers so we can expect shit posts. However, if one truly visita that section and seeing some users get rewarded by merits then there is a high chance that it could morivate other by doing the same so that they can have the chance to get merits. I personally do always posts in SMT so that is why I am hoping that smerits should be decay or it should be circulated in other sections of the forum. Well, that only depend on how admin will run the forum. Either way, I am still happy to be here even if it is not meant for me to rank up into next rank. There are way too few sources and it seems like everybody is constantly out of Smerits. Mic is a lovable and responsible guy and would I trust him to be a merit source with all my heart. My experiences have come from the collectibles section where micgoossens has shown good judgement and has become a trusted trader.

The amount of effort, energy, positivity/good vibes, willing to learn and teach, and even generosity "the dude" has put into Bitcoin/Bitcointalk and its community since he joined not so long time ago is simply amazing.
I could enumerate a really long list of pros for making Mic a merit source (which btw, I don't think it is any sort of "gift" but much on the contrary a responsibility and usually unappreciated effort he would gladly and perfectly carry out) but it would be so long that I will just, as MANY others have done before, clearly state my 100% vouch for him as a merit source. It will surely be good for the community. We need more Mics. Really. But even if we only have one, we have a treasure... so let just take care of him, make him a merit source and... Good point for many forum members, still I just think its not unreasonable to get a fair chance of being among the source members, contribute in another way to the place, and I will keep trying to gain some support from the other members.
