Title: Newbie with signature Post by: Pffrt on July 25, 2019, 07:11:30 AM On the last update, newbies were restricted to use a signature on their profile if I am not wrong. It was the update with Jr member requiring 1 merit probably.
I found a thread where newbie wearing signature, how can this happen? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5168443.0 Please, someone confirm if I am wrong. Title: Re: Newbie with signature Post by: dkbit98 on July 25, 2019, 07:44:34 AM You can read more details here:

There are various possibilities as to why that happened. One of which might be
Quote Final Edit: He can de-ranked from the junior member status before(or after, anyway should be related of) the need of 1 merit to rank up from newbies, this should be the only case who can wear the signature and have 0 merit on this account. (if they are not deleted manually from theymos but I doubt it). Title: Re: Newbie with signature Post by: dkbit98 on July 25, 2019, 08:17:29 AM Probably deranked... If he had de-ranked from Jr Member, he must have at least a single merit on his profile which is not available. Because to be a Jr Member, one must have to gain 1 merit. I think it is a bug.Title: Re: Newbie with signature Post by: dkbit98 on July 25, 2019, 08:23:18 AM Probably deranked... I think it is a bug.and new rules started probably around 17-09-2018 Users before the new ranking system can rank up just by having enough activity. When the merit system was introduced, it was only member ranks and above were given airdrop merits. Jr. members who never earned a single merit were deranked. With regards to the signature of de-ranked jr. members, Theymos must have forgotten to remove it or didn't really bother to change it. Title: Re: Newbie with signature Post by: tranthidung on July 26, 2019, 02:09:45 AM Now, it is time to look back at merit chronological history.
One year anniversary of merit system (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5101718.0) In short, what you discussed is here: 3) Second adjustment: Enhanced newbie restrictions & requirements (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5030366.0) Let me clarify that demotion on Junior Members whom have not earn a single merit (at least) means that they will become Newbie, and their signature automatically disabled by forum system.Due to excessive garbage-posting, you now need 1 merit to be a Jr Member. All existing Jr Members who didn't meet the requirement were demoted. Also, newbies can no longer set any signature or personal text. To sum up, that case OP raised is likely a glitch.
