Title: what will happen if the ethereum price decline continues?
Post by: Jimscovlt on August 21, 2019, 05:36:04 PM
in mid January 2018 ethereum was in the range of $ 1,377 and that was the highest achievement of ethereum prices in 2018. and in 2019 ethereum there was no significant change, at this time ethereum was still stable with prices fixed or in the range of $ 190.
if the ethereum price decline continues, it looks like the tokens generated from the ethereum platform will not have high selling points and most likely the project developers will also no longer use ethereum's platform. isn't the end like that?

There is just no one will keep buying ETH anymore to make its price of up if all investors who bought ETH while the price was less than $1 are selling them to quit now that they knew its not going to survive the competition due to the newer platforms that are just scalable than ETH. The platform is just going to die because of a bigger project like EOS and TRX.

I personally don't see the ethereum platform demise coming anytime soon. The bearish trend on the market is general as both bitcoin and a substantial number of altcoin has been hit and ethereum happens to be one of the altcoin that is declining like others. I believe that the market would recover before long and ethereum would join bitcoin in the uptrend.

I read online today that "ethereum founder is planning to increase transactions cost" this is really going to affect the pricing as it happened to bitcoin in 2017, ending when bitcoin transactions fees went high. Currently, ethereum has not recovered fully from the last year dump and any thing that further push it price below $100 again will be dangerous for it growth .

As long as there's Vitalik, ethereum won't die as easy as you think. I'm still believing that there will be a time that the price will soar to an unexpected price where everyone would FOMO again.
Realizing if ethereum fails and continues to decrease its price, I think that many will buy because of the 2.0 which everyone is waiting for.

And tomorrow, the price of Ethereum will rise again and the project developers will return to it again?
During the ICO or IEO, the project developers plan ahead how much they want to raise money in dollars and based on this amount and the number of tokens put up for sale, they set the price of each token in relation to the main cryptocurrencies. That is why developers do not care about today's prices of Ethereum. The main thing for them is to have less problems with smart contracts.

Correct, once it reached the bubble, it suddenly burst. Who would have thought that after reaching that status in 2018, it will suddenly go down to as low as $80.

Its possible, they have a lot of competition out there, Binance mainnet is top of my head that could potentially replace ETH in the next coming years. There are news that projects will start to switch to Binance mainnet or have move already. But there are news that ETH 2.0 will be release, so its going to be an exciting year for ETH holders and hope that this could fuel another price pump.

Why pointing out Ethereum only, all coins that have their all-time high back 2017, still haven't regain their all-time high or even half of it, I don't see a continuous decline of its price, it's actually better now that when 2019 entered, and I still see new and existing IEO and ICO using and accepting Ethereum, and use Eth's smart contract.

If Bitcoin rally at $15k and Ethereum did not reach $300, then we can talk of decline, but not at this point of time.

Many things will happen if the price of Ethereum continues to decline.
This decline will impact all coins using the Ethereum platform.
But all can happen and I'm sure if Ethereum can go back up.
Developers certainly wouldn't supply the price of Ethereum steadily declining.
As long as the Bitcoin price does not decline sharply and investors still believe in Ethereum, I think this coin still has a very big chance.

Even now the growth has declined, but there is continued development. The competence that has increased over the entire cryptocurrency network has caused it fall to big projects. This doesn't mean it is gonna demise, more expectation is over the ethereum.

If there is continued drop in the price of ethereum surely we can more new comers to the cryptocurrency usage investing in large scale. Once it played a big role with its ERC-20 platform, and with more and more projects getting turned as a scam caused it fall. Now compared to bitcoin it is experiencing a very low growth percentage which will get equalized by the upcoming updates of 2020.

Many powerful projects on the Ethereum platform will just switch to another platform or their own blockchain. Alternative platforms for crypto startups are enough. At the same time, falling ETH prices can kill many dubious and weak projects. This is a kind of natural selection.
But I don't think Ether will just give up.

I believe in CoinMarketCap ethereum value had reached $1,460 just correct me if I’m wrong but that’s the last highest price before I sold my coins three days after

That’s the nearest thing will happen, actually that’s what happening nowadays when more erc20 tokens decreased value by high percentage

No ofcourse devs will always use ethereum it’s just happen that they will either stop for a while or risk with the low value position

True.

Most of them are starting to create their own chain and one popular token that eth has before was BNB. Now, it has made it's own chain and is now able to do what Ethereum has offered to most projects before.

But I don't think Ether will just give up.
It won't give up, for a well established coin. Why are we thinking that it can easily end while amidst of its situation being the top altcoin and the most popular of them all?

You shouldn't focus only in ethereum.Lets have a bigger picture or shall we say talking about the entire market. Tell me on which coin in the market now didn't able to dump its

price since January 2018? All of them decrease its price yet the entire cap dumped last year and even including bitcoin but these correction doesn't mean that these coins would come to die.Just be patient and don't lose hope because for a project like ETH wont easily die on that way.

Well,,, if you think about it a cheap ETH price means cheap gas. Which you need to run your dapps if you are using ERC20 tokens. To me that is the bright side of having a good dapp with a lot of users, then you can get people to use it a lot and cheaply. And maybe by the time price returns to 1k, ETH 2.0 will be ready to scale.

Ethereum price did not develop by miracle in 2018, its development was the effect of the massive crowdfunding projects that was release at that year 2017, and I think that year has the highest records of project, I mean quality projects and this led to the increase in price of ethereum from that 2017 to that 2018 before the bull run ended, but the moment the bear market started, so many coins were declining and coupled with many ICOs being released by scammer, these two negative factors effect is what we are seeing on the price of ethereum till date.

The greatest factor was that of ICO and now that we don’t have much ICO being released, where do you want ethereum to get their value from?

If Ethereum's price drop continues to happen of course it will negatively impact. All coins with the Ethereum platform will slowly decline. In a few days, this does not happen a sharp decline and the price of Ethereum is stable.

Developers, of course, have to work hard so that Ethereum can go back to the top. This year 2019 is pretty good because Ethereum has good progress. So I'm sure if Ethereum will return successfully.

If the Whales are going to make the market strong again and they will choose to buy ETH then there will be a huge positive impact on the current price. This is the only method to turn the table back in a very effective way however the chance to see something like this is so low.

We cannot say its all over for the Etherium we can see that other Altcoins has turned back their prices after a dip fall. This is ETHERIUM we are talking about the second popular CryptoCurrency next to Bitcoin.

We never know for certain about the development of the world of crptocurrency. because of its fluactive nature it can change at any time. etherum is not the end of a choice, and there are still many platforms that have quality that is not inferior to ethereum, such as EOS, XRP and many more.

It is unlikely that the price will fall too much, since the ether almost never falls in price, the maximum will be a drawdown of $ 30,and the price will return back

If things will continue like this, maybe the demand will continue to decline. In my opinion, the current problem as you demonstrated is very appropriate. Not only tokens are generated from the ETH platform, but almost all tokens do not have a sale value as in previous years. I really hope that there will be a good change in the selling price of tokens from the ETH platform, because almost the average project uses the ERC-20 platform.

yes maybe that will come true. but one thing I know is that ethereum will definitely rise again soon. yesterday we saw a deeper decline than this, and at the end of ethereum successfully recovered. that's why I'm sure ethereum prices will definitely come back sooner or later. if we look at all the coins not only ethereum which falls, bitcoin and all other altcoins also experience the same thing. and this is also one of the reasons why I still believe.

There is a tough competition for ethereum as many platforms like stellar, EOS have been introduced. However, I do not think Ethereum platform will demise in the nearest future. Only price of a coin does not determine value and importance of a project. The market is bearish and all coins including ethereum have fallen in price.

That's what's really going to happen if the decline continues, and there are many new platforms waiting for their time to be the developer's choice, but if I am a developer I will still prefer Ethereum, because they are still on the top 5 and many investors and traders are familiar on using Ethereum, and besides Eth's devs are doing their work.

I see that there are still many people who are enthusiastic about investing in Ethereum because it is good even though the price is now going down quite far, but a few weeks ago it rose to $ 300 and the volume also improved from time to time.

This is actually true. Only Bitcoin has made a huge recovery so far.
The rise of new dominant altcoins, the general reduction of investment into altcoins and cryptocurrency crowdfunding are probably contributing to the diminishing price of Ethereum.
Almost all altcoins is affected by the decline. There seems to be no safe haven yet.

That's what's really going to happen if the decline continues,

eth price dont really affects the price of the tokens that have been created under it because those token have a different use than what eth has to offer . it only depends on the project if its promising then it can attract alot of investors in which it will result for the pump of the tokens  .  i dont also think that eth can decline in a continues manner because there will be always a demand of it  . devs uses eth for token creation , investors buys eth , merchants and peope buy eth for daily use . all of those can contribute on the growth of the price

You should consider the market is not controlled by a single entity it is free for all market it means that everyone is owning ETH.
Now, do you think that these hodlers will agree or buy those tokens that someone had dumped in the market?
It is an open market and i don't there is no chance that the value of ETH would go down continuously.

Basic question. What happened if it constantly decreasing? Well all i know mostly that can survive in this market always turn to shitcoin and become a play money for long time.

But in my own opinion its impossible to happen with ethereum 'cause you know ethereum has a strong structure and indeed that's is the only coin that can ride all the waves and didn't last even the value is in critical condition ..probably it will last only once bitcoin plunges drastically to 2$ because eth keeps making progress when btc constantly growing . Lol

Those who can afford to short and take a profits will be lucky while others will cut loses and choose different projects to reinvest and try another chance to recover or earned a little more, the declined can be an opportunity for people who wanted to invest long term and willing to wait for another bounce and give them a very high hope of getting a lots from this project.

Actually we don't need to worry about the Ethereum price reduction, because we know that Ethereum is a good project and the owner is clear, so what we have to do now if the ETH price goes down is of course buying again and waiting for the price to rise is only a matter of time

My question is why must look from it's peak and not from when ETH first enter market. ETH lowest price or maybe when ETH still popular, if me not wrong it's price is not high as now. If me, when i see coins, i will see it's progress from early to now. Because it means we can really see how it's progress and make good decision what it will be in future. ETH although down very much, i think even developer will think something about it, they will do something that still can make their tokens have value with their way. But ETH demands will still a lot as long a lot of tokens still use it as fees.

Im one of those who still thinks its not over for ETH and i really hope the price wont decrease further than what we've seen already, the only thing to keep looking forward to now is the next ETH upgrade called 2.0 which might actually breath a new life into ETH for good or if whales can start buying huge bags of ETH can drastically change ETH value but the chances for this is very low i think.

As the value decreases, more and more demand will be bought. In the crypto market, a lot of speculators wait for low prices and buy back with a huge sum of money.
that's why the crypto market only appears "adjusted" and never appears "crisis".
So don't worry, our market is going through a pretty good period and there are no signs of recession.

Correction. 2017 of January not 2018. I dont think tokens using eth platform will not be affected when the price of eth dropped. As you can see we are now in the era of IEO and most exchanges prefer to use their currency coin as payment for their own right? But those participants still wanted to exchange their profits with major coins such as eth and btc so Im pretty sure that eth wouldnt drop that much an eth still have some developmwnt upcoming and everyone will probably looked back when that progress mature already.

I'm tempted to get more into ETH but I learned my lessons in 2017 of buying alts and then adding to the bags more and more every time the price dropped even more. For me, I already made the ETH buy around $400. And it was so tempting every time it drops even more to add but I'd rather just keep that practice to BTC.

IF more people buy it though, I won't complain. At least lessen the whale monopolies.

We've seen worse than ETH prices now. I don't think we would be so surprised by what happened to the market. because after the decline in ETH that never happened, we see some tokens with the ethereum blockchain also go down very deep and until now also many are difficult to return to repair the price.

The price of Ethereum if it continues to decline, of course, this situation will be the same as at the end of 2018. At the end of the year, 2018 Ethereum reached $80 and at that time many projects with the Ethereum platform suffered a sharp decline.

But for the year 2019 and see the current conditions, I do not think that Ethereum will continue to decline. And the crypto situation is now quite interesting because in a few weeks the price of Bitcoin is still very high (and stable). And most likely the price of Ethereum will slowly also rise.

Almost one year has passed, still, Ethereum is not doing well. Ethereum price went to 78-80, and recent price range also very good, it seems we can see another huge collapse in Ethereum price in this November! A few months ago, BCH price was lower than Ethereum then BCH price increased incredibly, but ETH was like stuck on a low price!
That's why within 3-4 months, many projects migrated from Ethereum to Binance chain or they are creating own coin! Ethereum is losing developer's trust. But I still hope Ethereum 2.0 will change everything next year, but who knows the reality!
Are you aware that most of these top coins are depending on the price of Bitcoin? It is not just the Ethereum but also Bitcoin and all other altcoins were also suffering from the decline. If Bitcoin could only break that $15,000 resistance i'm pretty sure there would be massive changes in the market then i think everyone else would follow.

We are all waiting for the next ETH 2.0 update to come and save things, because I really do not know what is going on with this coin. Back in 2017 a lot of people were talking about ETH like a real competitor of BTC, but what we are seeing right now is just awful.
People talk about Ethereum as bitcoin competitor is because the coin is doing better that Time and all that’s part of Vitalik Buterin’s strategy to popularized ethereum and he successfully made the point because people continue to talk and progress ethereum.
And now it was abused by Scammers ICO and the platform of ethereum turns bad in reputation.maybe the team need to innovate again so investors will be lured to re invest

It would be no future for the Ethereum if it will continue to decline but the good thing is that it would be impossible for Ethereum to become obsolete in the future because even in this current market condition but still the Ethereum platform was commonly used by most of the crypto users to support their projects.

if ethereum will continue to fall in price, the side effects of ico or the IEO program will become more difficult and unsold in the market, but this is not possible because ethereum has a very good and profitable sales value and i am sure ethereum will not die, see volume every day on all exchanges if ethereum is cheap, investors will definitely start buying. because ethereum is very good for the long term

Irrespective of the competitors, the market is a growing one, and it is large enough to accommodate everyone, but what will make you be the lead is that extra efforts you put to showcase your real product to the world by adding some features that are not yet registered on other platforms.

If Ethereum wants to continue to stay on top of their game and take the lead, they need to do as binance is doing, coming up with different strategies and different products that will make the coin to continuously be attractive to the users and will also always attract new users, but as it is this time, I think that binance is already doing better in the market and they might eventually get to become large than ethereum in community. For now, it is still worth holding Ethereum, till we find a much more better alternative.

if ethereum prices fall too deep then that will make investors will turn to other coins and demand from ethereum will also weaken, I hope ethereum is not like that because it will make many investors disappointed.

Such a moment must be experienced by all coins, not only ETH if it must be in such a position.
on the decline there is actually a good situation to wait for the best price to buy as much as possible. because demand will definitely increase again because ETH is not an arbitrary coin that has just entered the crypto market.

Did you think in the summer of 2017 that ICO as a form of crowdfunding is so toxic that it will die quickly? I remember that it was faery, and few people sounded the alarm. The IEO from the BNB does not look so magical. Maybe our past experience with ICO is affected ;).
In addition, as we know, the Ethereum devs is working to improve the situation.
The competitive race will not stop - it is in their interests.

Actually we have to judge from many things why it has experienced a substantial decline. of course there is a reason. and what ethereum has done right now is a pretty good time where the platform has proven to be successful with many projects
Many projects that use the Ethereum platform do not mean the price of ETH will be better in the future, if ETH's price gets worse then many projects will fail so that they will switch to a nicer platform than Ethereum, maybe Binance will In front Ethereum.
You don’t need to wait for the price of eth to continue falling because almost all the project that use erc20 has falling.or I think not falling at all because those are intended to be a scam

This is same reason why trust on ethereum gets lower everyday as they are aware of being used and abused by scammers yet they are not doing any preventive maasure for their name remain clean .

If this continues then we Will see the straight downfall of Vitalik and he’s currency

What will happen? Of course lot of peple (including me) will buy ETH as much as we can since it has bright future to bounce back. Imagine ETH would dropped to $10 or even $5,  it's the best time to accumulate more ETH in our investment

I like this optimism, and here, I guess you are absolutely right. Ethereum is the cryptocurrency, which will be very useful despite the price of one token. ETH, due to its great popularity, is also the coolest intermediate in exchange operations (like Bitcoin).

I cannot imagine my portfolio without this cryptocurrency. Hope, in May-June 2020, ETH will strengthen its positions greatly.

I see no reason for a further fall in ethereum prices. The price of this coin has already fallen significantly compared to a similar drop in the price of bitcoin. Now the situation is not very good for altcoins, therefore ethereum, on the platform of which most of them appeared, is in relative decline. However, this should not last long. In cryptocurrency, in general, nothing can be permanent and this is a necessary prerequisite for making good profit.

this year is the worst year for ethereum. it is very unrealistic to expect ethereum prices to return to the time when ATH. so it is very difficult for ethereum to go up now.

Looking at etheruem price now and comparing its ATH at around $1,300 and with a year, it has lost so much that one can't just believe it, the difference in the drop is so unfortunate. This is the time to buy more because etheruem platform is really nice and with large community.

Ethereum will definitely make changes to regain the trust of investors and the public so that the fall in Ethereum prices continues. And if that happens there are two possibilities that will happen, the first is Cryptocurrency traders and investors will add to their assets, and the second is they will leave it and move on to other coins.

The team is always preparing more and more features to be launch on the ethereum platform but the fact has already said the different thing when the price of ethereum is determined by the demand from the investors.
If the investors didn't give a lot of reaction even after the big update by ethereum developers and that means if ethereum has lost the trust from investors.
$1200 is possible rate as long as there will be so many investors will be bought ethereum again and this must be the same with 2017's year.

in mid January 2018 ethereum was in the range of $ 1,377 and that was the highest achievement of ethereum prices in 2018. and in 2019 ethereum there was no significant change, at this time ethereum was still stable with prices fixed or in the range of $ 190.
if the ethereum price decline continues, it looks like the tokens generated from the ethereum platform will not have high selling points and most likely the project developers will also no longer use ethereum's platform. isn't the end like that?

Yes, all possibilities can happen and not just Ethereum that price will go down. Even coins under Bitcoin will suffer a decline. Everyone is still waiting for the Altcoin season to come soon. Because see the condition of Bitcoin until now still in the amount of $10,000. With the price of Bitcoin which is still $10,000, so the selling value of Ethereum can go up faster, but that happens otherwise. We also don't need to panic and we have to be patient because the Altcoin season can definitely happen again.

I think they will be more inclined to leave this coin because holding ETH has caused them to lose a lot in their long-term investments and take a lot of time for them to wait in this bear market. In fact a lot of people still hold ETH at a very high level compared to the present and that makes them unable to sell good prices. I believe that as long as the market rebounds, 90% of investors will sell all ETH to invest in other coins.

Today, the price of ethereum has dropped to the lowest level in recent years and, according to CoinMarketCap, is $ 170. Of course, this happened simultaneously with the drop in the price of bitcoin, which now costs a little more than $ 9,600. Even if the price of this coin under these circumstances would fall even much lower, it would also have its advantages. By its purchasing power, this coin would be more attractive. Lowering the price leads to an increase in demand, which means again to an increase in price. In any case, I hope that in the fourth quarter of this year, the cryptocurrency market will have good growth.

I do not expect a further decline, but however, ethereum prices follow the decline in bitcoin prices. so far, ethereum prices have declined nearly 9% for today. that's really a pretty steep drop.

however, looking at the prediction delivered, when a bounce occurs, ethereum prices could return to $ 180. but, when there is a continuing decline, it could be as high as $ 160. but that's just the analysis that I read based on the newsbitcoin article today

If the price of Ethereum continues to decline, I think the coins that use the Ethereum platform, will also experience a decline. But developers of Ethereum will definitely not let if the price of Ethereum decreases. In the current year, I think Ethereum is slowly increasing, when compared to the end of the year 2018.

Now also many new coins are emerging and have good potential. Many people have connected between Ethereum and Binance Coin. That Binance Coin could replace Ethereum as the number two coin.

Ethereum price already started to decline but there is no cause to be very panic. As, you know ETH price has already in the bull trend so, possibly the price decline to $150 maximum. If the extreme market worse condition arrive even then the price will hover around the price range of $100 to $150. Then the further buying opportunity will come.

bitcoin prices are down, making so many scenarios that arise regarding the prediction of ethtereum prices. however, of course most of the news is FUD which is enough to make people panic. Well, I'm not one of those who panic, but I think it's quite interesting following the speculation developments that people are doing.

according to the cointelegraph, Max Keizer said that ETH could drop immediately to $ 90. this is the reference

although it can happen, it's just that I don't agree with it. Well, I believe that ETH is a very potential coin, so I think we just need to wait for a while now that the ETH pump returns.

If Bitcoin rally at $15k and Ethereum did not reach $300, than we can talk of decline, but not at this point of time. By the way everything can happen in crypto market no one is assure about it.

The Ethereum platform is still used by many projects and it is currently the largest platform to date.
Binance's BEP2 is just new and it is still quite lacking compared to Ethereum. so I still believe that the foundation of Ethereum will continue to live and be upgraded over the next few months (ETH 2.0).
Its value will soon increase sharply and we should not have negative faith in it. It is still the best technology coin at CMC.

Current form of Ethereum in the market is really disappointing. I bought some ETH when It's price was near 250$. I thought the price would increase soon but now I feel I took a wrong decision. Today, ETH increased 4% and hit 219$. I hope ethereum will boost up soon and Reach $300 atleast within this year.

Or, If the price reduction continuous then people won’t be interested buy ETH anymore.

I think Ethereum is still the best Crypto option even though the price reduction continues. Do you still remember when the price of ETH was only $ 50 - $ 100? there is a possibility that ETH will experience a more basic decline from current prices. but seeing the trend that is happening at ETH prices now, I am optimistic that at least ETH can be stable with slow rising price movements. the price for this year will not be much different from the current price, and if there is a fall in the price of ETH, we will not panic because ETH has been very cheap more than the current price.

I think that most altcoins are actually nearing the breakout now like I see in several altcoins some days back which I even see the almighty dormant ripple increase by 20% and if ripple can show signs of responding to altcoin season, then I am not longer giving up on any coin, all I just need to do right now is to look for the key to my private wallet and expect to use it as anytime now that most altcoins are now showing the signs that they are beginning to prepare for the altcoin season.

Ethereum being the leader of these coin still has the greatest chance of increasing more now, and I believe that this altcoin season will definitely make the value of Ethereum to a least rise by 10 if not more than while all the other coins will also follow behind.

I love investing this coin because its technology is always the leader in this market and there are thousands of tokens operating on the base of Ethereum. according to the cointelegraph, Max Keizer said that ETH could drop immediately to $ 90. this is the reference

https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-price-falls-under-95k-as-keiser-gives-ethereum-90-target

although it can happen, it's just that I don't agree with it. Well, I believe that ETH is a very potential coin, so I think we just need to wait for a while now that the ETH pump returns.
if the ETH price drops to $ 90 USD, I will not waste this opportunity, this is an opportunity to buy more with huge profit potential, but if the ETH price drops to $ 90 USD, many new projects will die because the ETH they collect lose its value
That prediction comes from the max keizer and it's not a good idea to take that as a main consideration consider about he was a bitcoinist. It may better to take another big player that was neutral.
The majority of icos have sold their ethereum dude and you should not worry about the existences of secondary platforms that used ethereum as its own parent platform for the token.

If the scenario will become true no one can buy ethereum and interest to invest, because there's have a lot of potential came from the flatform have an potential to improve like xrp. But this only a drama do not worry ethereum are in the strong even if their price is in the lower value wait for another increase of ethereum if the bitcoin price is goes into bullrun.
Every decline in Bitcoin and ETH corresponds in some high or ups in the future. They maybe declining now but knowing their uses and capabilities will just make us think of buying it more in their declining prices. Ethereum is still use in many transactions as well a great platform to start every project with, it's just if we lose our hope now after it didn't move quite a lot this year or sell it in these price is still our choice. It will depends in our personal situation now if we need our money badly to sell ETH now.

in mid January 2018 ethereum was in the range of $ 1,377 and that was the highest achievement of ethereum prices in 2018. and in 2019 ethereum there was no significant change, at this time ethereum was still stable with prices fixed or in the range of $ 190.
if the ethereum price decline continues, it looks like the tokens generated from the ethereum platform will not have high selling points and most likely the project developers will also no longer use ethereum's platform. isn't the end like that?

You are far from the truth, my friend.
Look at what price Ethereum appeared on the market.
Just because we witnessed a bubble and a large price drop does not mean anything bad. This is right of every young market. At the moment we are in the growth phase and if someone does not see it, it means that he have little experience on cryptomarket.

The problem with this hypothetical situation is that it will never happen. Ethereum price, or other coins/investments, won't simply continue to decline straight down (well unless something so obvious happens like the coin is a scam or the company is shutting down).

There will always be people who will be buying at certain levels and these people buying will trigger bull runs where the price then continues to increase (even if for a short period of time)!

This is beautiful in decentralization. It is the users who decide whether the coin is alive. I am sure that the society associated with Ethereum will not let the price fall all the time. Vitalik has proven many times that it is worth trusting him, so I'm sure Ethereum will succeed sooner or later.

That's what's likely to happen if it continue to slide, but it's not only Ethereum majority of the coins are going down, even Bitcoin was down half of it's all time high price, so let's see if the market conditions and see if Ethereum can also improve it's price, we'll have to wait and see this to happen, and it's likely that it's going to happen next year.

What is happening today with the price of Ethereum is not the result of poor technical specifications or poor prospects for Ethereum in the future, since the entire cryptocurrency market is falling in price due to falling prices for Bitcoin.  In almost all years of the development of the cryptocurrency market, this is how the cryptocurrency market reacted to all Bitcoin indicators.  But it seems to me that Ethereum has a lot more potential than even Bitcoin, and therefore I can very well expect the period when ETH will become the leader of the cryptocurrency market.  Firstly, the transaction speed is much higher and their price is much lower compared to Bitcoin.  In addition, we must not forget the fact that in 2017, the capitalization of Bitcoin and Ethereum were almost equal in volume and I hope for a repeat of this situation.

I do agree with that, mate. Decentralized market gives end-users the capabilities to control the situation unlike with Centralized system where it's only relying with few people who are working behind the project. ETH has a strong backup community even it has fluctuated. Sooner or later, it will bounce back just like what happened last year. Then again, it went back and showed that it will not die and disappear. Also, consider those short-term traders who also influenced the market movements. Once they've hold it for much longer time, it will help to lift up the value of ETH again.

I like the idea of decentralization as much as the next crypto guy but seriously, if you think decentralization means end users have more control, you might first have to get the idea of control straight.

I can control Bitcoin for myself and decide many things about it, but not the things that the market dominators decide like fee price. And Bitcoin is as decentralized as it gets.

Not only ethereum suffers of decline and I can’t see it will continues to go down. As long there is developer in ethereum price can recover, price could increase in time. As I can see many users are still believing in this project though there are new platform competing with ethereum. I’m still having a high hope on eth that price will goes up again.

I think that there is a high probability that the price of Ethereum will fall to the level of 120-130 dollars. I do not like how the market is developing now. Trading volumes fell on many exchanges.

ETH based tokens would not suffer. The price of ETH has nothing to do with the success of their individual projects.

The reason why ICOs that are based on ETH are suffering is more because of market saturation and the realisation of the wider market that most ICOs are not worth investing into at all. As long as the ETH network exists, and functions, its price should be irrelevant when determining the success of projects that run themselves on it.

Besides, I think that ETH prices have probably bottomed out in the short run anyhow. Nothing to really see here.

There is absolutely no doubt about that, Ethereum is still a very strong project and they have very great community that will stay behind it, Ico might have dealt with it a little bit, especially the way scammers abused it which makes Ethereum not to have much reliable projects to produce and discouraging lots of investors, but with the new concept of Ethereum 2.0 and the great features they are planning to add to it, I know within me that 2020 will be a very great year for Ethereum and the ICO market generally.

It would be a loss for those who would not see this present value of bitcoin as a proper entry point or those that are selling their Ethereum right now because of last of distrust that they have in them, I just hope there would not be too many regrets in the future.

We see ETH 85 USD as all time low after bear market. A journey from 1,400 USD to 85 USD.
After 85 USD forces 360 USD and now trading around 174 USD.
Almost 2X from all time low. But far far away from all time high value 1,400 USD.
This is crypto, everything is possible, so ETH can go back more depending on the market conditions.
By the way if it breaks 100 USD, I do not want think about other alt coins in the market, as ETH is one of the strongest coin in the market.

If this continue or if there is no further development on the ethereum's team part, ethereum might as well go down in ranking in regards to marketcap.

Price declines are not unique to ETH. if they use NEO or WAVES, it is even worse when those altcoins are even more discounted than ETH. Up to now, the foundation of Ethereum really works very well and their smart contract is still highly appreciated.
About bear market, it will soon end and be replaced by bull run. Don't worry, the market never drops forever.

I think that if ETH would keep decreasing in price, it simply would be replaced by another altcoin that is more competitive. ETH is very weak and oversold at the moment, and I would not wonder if LTC or XRP will replace this coin.

For several times that XRP take over ETH last year but it was just a short stay. We know ETH competency and how Mr. Vitalik gives support to his invention and I'd never think that he just let the things happen, it for sure he'll take action before it.

because the demand for ETH is decreasing or stable, so the price does not rise, and also many coins that use smartcontract so not only in the ETH but other coins can use the technology, so the demand for ETH Coin Purchases is decreasing, this is also due to the large number of ico scams are on the ETH platform.

It seems unlikely that ethereum will continue to experience price declines, because ether is the second crypto that most people make investment assets and have the largest capitalization at this time apart from btc, in the last 24 hours btc and ether have raised prices although not too significantly but this shows if the movement The ether is in a positive trend, indeed in trading there is often a decline in prices, but of course there will be certain limits where the ether will again increase in price as long as there are still many people / traders who indeed buy ether for their investment.

The advantage of even holding bitcoin among all altcoins is that Ethereum is such a coin that usually respond to the increase if bitcoin anytime that we have one. If bitcoin lift in price today, you can expect that Ethereum will also rise in price unlike other altcoins that would have to wait for the full altcoins season for them to be able to gain any high profitable value.

If eth's decline is still under control and the chances of a return are still high, it will certainly be a good opportunity for us to accumulate when eth is still a coin that the community has much appreciated and useful in the market, however, if eth continually depreciates and declines without any resistance, I think we should stop. Because there are many cases where such declines will make the coin almost devalued in the market, more accurately, the level of potential and credibility will decline and it is not worth investing, OMG and LSK have been one of the prominent examples when the continuous decline has made it die over time

I think that it is difficult to calculate how much Ethereum investors have invested in new projects over the past years, while most of these projects were not promising or fraudulent.  But one way or another, all these ethereum were withdrawn from the cryptocurrency market, due to which the capitalization of ethereum fell, as did its popularity.  I believe that the quality of projects that use erc 20 directly affect the popularity of Ethereum, although Ethereum has not yet fully demonstrated its full potential.  I very much hope that Ethereum becomes a full-fledged coin with its blockchain and will be independent of Bitcoin.  Maybe my words will seem dubious to someone, but I believe in the potential of ethereum much more than even Bitcoin.  The main problem of Bitcoin is scalability and it is much more difficult to solve it than for ethereum.

At the end, another coin will replace it. The problem of all ERC-20 tokens is that they are all dependent on the main crypto, but as soon as developers would understand that ETH is dying, they will just switch to Binance or any other blockchain.

The popularity of ethereum is undermined by the token project. shittoken everywhere. fraud project. although ethereum itself is the best.
so, what happens is that many people will start to be pessimistic about ethereum (no doubt). but in the beginning the price of ethereum was less than $100 so actually if ethereum keeps going down it doesn't matter, it will definitely go up again but it takes time.

but, it doesnt continue to decline the price. ethereum increases 2x from low at early 2019. $ 90 to 180$ right now
2x increasing can indicate that the bottom has been passed. we wont be lower that bottom in the future
yeah i know this is still not good as end of 2017, at least it still can increase its price even 2x

In any case, the most important thing is that Ethereum has independent pricing and will now not depend on the price of Bitcoin, as it was in previous years.  The fact that at the beginning of 2019, Ethereum did not rise in price as actively as Bitcoin says about this, and I hope that in the near future the situation with Ethereum will improve many times, especially given the previous and upcoming erc20 updates.

As everyone's concern, if ethereum declines continues, there will be a great number of buyers who are just waiting for the right time to buy.
At the end, another coin will replace it. The problem of all ERC-20 tokens is that they are all dependent on the main crypto, but as soon as developers would understand that ETH is dying, they will just switch to Binance or any other blockchain.
But many of those ERC20 tokens have launched their mainnets and that means that they can no longer be dependent on ethereum. They can stand on their own already.

From all indications ETH will move up in price with time, many people are already carried away by the staking function in anticipation of ETH 2.0. I think the number of people dumping are way lower compared to the number of people holding ETH, so it's a positive sign. Well, this is just speculation, the market will decide in the long run.

if we compare with bitcoin, of course ethereum is worse than bitcoin.
but it isnt only ethereum, altcoins also has bad performance in this years, just few of them can be good.

the development of crypto or altcoin depends on the investor itself and as long as there are investors who hold it, the currency still exists even though the value and price are low and if all investors are no longer interested and investors who hold it of course the currency will disappear as well ETH experienced if there are no investors who hold and use it again of course ETH will disappear

To be honest, I would trust Ethereum more than Binance. What is Binance after all? The only reason why Binance made a name is because of its exchange. And its exchange made a name earlier due to the strong marketing team. They promoted it very well, they created hype, and so on. And they succeeded because the exchange is good but not really amazing. Other exchanges can fare as good as them. The Binance blockchain is not yet 2% of what the Ethereum blockchain has achieved.

I agree with you . This market is man-made and it is we who can decide the future of this market so keep your faith when investing in altcoins. In fact, I would love to invest in ETH because this coin usually maintains a stable price and is considered the best altcoin technology in this market. Maybe this time is not good for long-term holding but I believe ETH will go up very high if Ethereum 2.0 is launched next year.

Of course this is just my speculation and if the coin wants to go higher, then the market needs to return to the best stage because it is often the period for investors to profit from this market.

I'm sure ETh has already reached it's dip this year and it's time for rising.
The price looks stable in this current month and seems want to rise for the upcoming months, news about ethereum 2.0 is already mainstream and people are start buying for holding.
Let's just hope everything is going fine and no major bugs after they implement ETH 2.0 because a technical bugs can drop the price a lot

There needs to be a change from the current system of ICO and IEO which must be really under supervision. This regeneration will create many tokens with potential scams that will experience BlackList so that investors avoid investing in projects that are at risk. and the positive impact of all new projects will be monitored and must have a legality that can be checked

Everything just stops at the prediction and you should put a lot of faith in this coin because I believe that after ETH 2.0 was launched, the value of ETH will surely improve more. Currently everyone is waiting for this news next year and hopes that everything will be okay. I personally always spend a lot of money on this coin because I believe Ethereum's technology will change a lot in our daily lives.

My prediction is optimistic but if things go well, the other top coins will start the uptrend next year. Of course that depends a lot on the value of Bitcoin in the near future.

eth has massive market support, to even be the price it is NOW. So many miners, yet it stays in the 100's of dollar range
look at poor zcash price wise to compare, miners destroyed it in market lol, but when the mining stops for ETH, price should recover nicely :)

People also solds once they see that their coin was dropping so why would they buy it again ? Makes no sense to me but it's reasonable to buy at lows when you still didn't sell any of your coins at a loss .

Nothing happens op because first of all . The decline has a limitation   .  It can't just decline forever  but declines can be a good and bad depending on the persons view .

I have really had nothing to lose that much in Ethereum, because I invested when I had studied that the price had bottomed too the extreme and right now, I think it will be about time that I am going to start ripping my investment come next year which I am waiting for too.

At the sound of the news of Ethereum 2.0, I am always gladdened because I needed something that will make Ethereum add more benefit to their product being that they only have one single product of chain that is not going in favor of the again as many people are not very much interested in those coins that is assisting in lifting the value of bitcoin because of scam, but will all these futures and the other products that are adding, I think that Ethereum will rise again next year.

We already witnessed ETH lowest low already, around $80 and after that it should bounce back and it's 2x from the last lowest price so I guess the bleeding has stop already and I don't see it going down further.

In fact, with their ETH 2.0 release just months for now (although technically it will be next year), there is a possibility that the price could be impacted positively, we are talking about in the range of $300-$500 at least, just saying.

Of course, panic in the market plays a very big role. Large players make money on the mood of the crowd. We need to better understand cryptocurrency market trends.

These fluctuations and panic sellers are a source of earning for traders as most of the new users tends to sell off under the pressure created by FUDSTERS as the newbies and sometimes tenured users tend to think something is better than nothing and end up selling but they buy back when situation improves as a natural human tendency wherein everyone looks for profit.

Ethereum plays a vital role in the crypto market, most of the altcoins are generated within its platform so having its price decline continuously, massive casualties should be expected on the other coins. During the large increase on 2018, Ethereum was in a really good shape together with bitcoin but now, bitcoin is already regaining its high value whilst Ethereum doesn't show much improvement yet. Let us hope to know the reason and keep on believing that it will soon recover again.

Ethereum is not doing badly in the market for now thus its declining is not feasible the launching of Ethereum 2.0 come 2020 is going to be a major boast in term of it price and other altcoins generated on its platform as you rightly mentioned its going to will perform well  because there is going to be a lot of improvement on the new eth, present eth is on a sleeping or ranging mode, hopefully in January 2020 it much expected price increase will materialized.

The decline in ETH price was due to the general fall of the market, and now the market is stabilizing and therefore ETH will not continue its decline. Next, there will be an update of the ETH, which will increase its price

I also believe we have seen the lowest point of ethereum during this year but many investors are still disappointed because bitcoin has been the coin with the biggest profits during this year and ethereum has not measure up to their expectations, this will change of course and I will no be surprised if ethereum begins to show a better performance than bitcoin during the next months so if I were you I will keep a close eye on ethereum because I am sure we are close to a more important recovery.

We can't afford to compare these two projects at all because one is a father and the other one is a child, so they can really not meet up to expectation together. Bitcoin is an independent project that only relies on the usage of people to actually make a growth in value, while Ethereum has built itself to rely on these ico project to get a surge in value and we know how the ico has been for now, and how investors has seriously abandoned the ico market for the strongest coin, and the strongest coin which we all know for now is still bitcoin.

Ethereum was supposed to stand at the same level with bitcoin if they had built their technology very well and to look exactly similar to that of bitcoin, but the chain product could not last them for a long time.

the dev aims to develop the project like what was promised in the roadmap
price matter depends on supply and demand, dev cant do more to keep price still high
so, i think it is not wise if we blame dev just because of price, but it is okay to blame dev if the dev doesnt develop their project, stole investor money, pretending to be hacked, etc

If ethereum continues to decline many polemixes occur, but most likely Ethereum will not die until almost all platforms use ethereum. Just look at ethereum before it peaks at the end of 2017 at comparable prices when prices go down today so we don't need to panic with ETH prices going down .I think the ETH day will shine again so we will wait for it to happen again

You guys are worried about a price decline continuing? Personally, I welcome it. If Ethereum continues to decline down below the $100 mark, all that's going to do is make me want to pick up even more to hold until it recovers. I think you guys may be looking at this the wrong way. With the new update coming soon, a price decline is a very good time to pick up more Ethereum.

That is an optimistic point of view that the price wont decline to a certain point but consider one thing, anything that has a valuation need to have a real world application to have an valuation and if that is not fulfilled then the market will drop down to zero and i doubt whether it can survive the next ten years because of the use case situation.

It is possible to hit the $78 price in a month if the BTC continues to climb the higher prices in my opinion. The falling Ethereum prices have a fundamental reasons like ETH 2.0 and the POW to POS problems. The price is slightly under the $200 while I writing this and the next market cycle will decide the direction of the market trend.

Do not worry about ethereum nothing is going to happen to it, however its price does not seem like it will recover and get to its ATH soon, but look at this from a positive angle, you can still buy ETH for a cheap price and when it finally goes up then you will get huge profits by just holding your ethereum, if the price goes below 100 dollars at some point in the future you should take that opportunity and buy all the ETH you can since it will be an opportunity like no other.

In my opinion, Ethereum can completely return to $100 if the bear market continues in the next few years because the current investment demand is still very low and investors often do not like to hold the old coins. I think you should look for a better coin as there are currently hundreds more new projects launched this year and those are worth the wait in the future. May be risk but new projects are often of interest to many whales.

Even the price of ethereum continues to decline i think it wont go below 100$,  there are lots of updates on ethereum next year so hopefully these declines will result to a huge pump in 2020.

This coin is for those who can patiently waits and have a good trust with the developments of this project. Most traders still see big potentials for this coin and still buying for investment purposes, there's specific time frame where updates can lift the price to bounce back and reach a good barrier. if you have funds to spare with this project better to buy now and hold, changes in value will take place once the bull market start to become stronger inside the exchange.

The fact is that today the price reduction reflects the general trend of the cryptocurrency market.  It cannot be said that Ethereum is the only problem, since each, even the highest-rated cryptocurrency, has red charts.  Nevertheless, in recent years, interest in the cryptocurrency has increased, as the capitalization of the cryptocurrency market increases.

That is the real reason why Ethereum is declining in prices, the market trend. There are other coins that are as trusted as Ethereum that are also declining in prices unfortunately. It is not because they are also failing in their projects. It is the general market situation that is causing all these bearish prices of altcoins. And not even altcoins, Bitcoin is also suffering from a bearish movement.

Well it has already gone below $100 in the past 12 months, twice in fact, so we should not be surprised if more dips happen. Remember the entire crypto market is still in flux and there are many things that can lead to a decline before everything moves up strongly.

The global economic crisis is also coming and that will really kick crypto hard I believe. Eth will always be around but for the next few years, things are shaky.

yep, it is bearish market so most of crypto is red. not only ethereum

more precisely, interest in Bitcoin, not in crypto
Bitcoin is the coin which makes crypto capitalization increased

It's overall effect and not just limited Ethereum as you have rightly mentioned but the market is in panic especially when the value of Eth and Btc falls,  last year at the beginning the value of ETH was increasing even when the value of BTC on decline thus making people believe that the value of ETH is not based on BTC or an other crypto performance but eventually ETH had it's turn and reduced by huge margin. But this divided user's understanding towards ETH.

Even BTC went down to 3500 USD this year before jumping back to 10,000 USD. Ups and down are part of every market and those who have  nerves strong enough to see the red market are the ultimate winners.

Lol at this thread - mostly bearish views. But this is just market sentiment which is the majority of sheep. The real indicator of a project's health is the development activity of Ethereum, the number of commits, etc. And on the ground with them, you would be very bullish.

Lol bearish and bullish are price matter, not development progress
no matter how good development progress, if the price still goes down, it is bearish market
that's what the happened in ethereum right now, so i dont wonder why most of ppl here bearish view

Yes, you are right most of the people are thinking about the bearish market situation from the past one year ETH team is kept postponing their development activity and this makes the price of ETH is becoming stable at the current value. So once we see the development release finally the price of ETH will surely increase its price.

No i think you're wrong, the development progress is really matter for price in the future. If the project has no development but the price pumped you should worry about that because the price is controlled by someone. But if the price is not good right now but the development is on going, this is the chance to buy the coin right now and take the result in the future. We should see the potential of the coin before it's price too high

There are not a few people who think that there is something wrong with some altcoins because their prices are stuck at a certain level. There are even those who think that solid coins such as Ethereum is not doing well simply by looking at the price. But that is of course not the right way of looking at it because every altcoin does not exist as an island, away from the general market condition. Even a good performer project will also be affected by the overall market condition.

Simply put, a bull market refers to a market that is on the rise. It is typified by a sustained increase in market share prices. In such times, investors often have faith that the uptrend will continue over the long term. Typically, in this scenario, the country's economy is strong and employment levels are high.
By contrast, a bear market is one that is in decline. Share prices are continuously dropping, resulting in a downward trend that investors believe will continue, which, in turn, perpetuates the downward spiral. During a bear market, the economy will typically slow down and unemployment will rise as companies begin laying off workers.

that's clear, i just speak about bullish and bearish market term. not the affect between development and bullish/bearish
i think we all know that development is important

Every altcoin is worth of investing for in a long run in my humble opinion. However not all of them becomes bearish and bullish at the same time thus your choice which coin to invest in is vital because that choice will dictate how long you'll wait or if you should wait in which in most case you should since all of them as a potential to grow continuously and be adopted in the real world such as merchandises.

I just hope you wouldn't be the last seller of Ethereum. It would really suck if that happens just when the market is recovering. The best time to sell ETH was in late 2017 and early 2018, not now. A sub $100 ETH is impossible unless fundamental reasons like dev abandonment.

the selection of coins to invest is important but unfortunately the ability to find potential coins is still less well known for the method. investing does always make people think hard, maybe there are some people who invest by looking for references but it's not good. find potential coins and be patient when holding to reach price goals

What if, what if?

You could ask the same question about bitcoin or altcoins, stocks, or anything.  The only thing that truly matters is what Eth *actually* does, and you either invest in it or you don't.  I happen to think that Eth will start to recover when bitcoin does and I'm hoping that will be in 2020 at the latest.

I also think that when Eth finally goes proof of stake, it will attract a lot of new investors and might possibly boost the price, tho I'm not certain that it will.  But I am pretty sure that being able to stake Eth will be attractive to a lot of people who like earning passive income.  The 32 Eth requirement is a little steep, but it isn't a huge barrier for many.

And if the price keeps dropping?  Well, Eth is still a very good altcoin and I would say that the cheaper you can buy it the better.

You have a point, people ask "what if?" all the time. They ask wrong questions, most of the time, but what is important to
know what specific coin can do, in this case what Ethereum can do? They are changing the structure from mining to proof of
stake, and like every change I expect turbulent period of Ethereum. If price goes down that would be a great buying opportunity
cause after turbulent period we will see Ethereum rising again.

During the last days the market has not performed really well and ethereum is going down like most coins, however it is holding its price better than most coins in the top 10 and that should be a positive sign, however if this negative trend continues then it is likely that the pressure of the bears will eventually surpass the buying pressure of the bulls and the price will begin to go down at a similar rate than the rest of the coins and that can be an incredible buying opportunity for those willing to wait.
