Which would be the best and most preferred altcoins to invest in the year 2020?

It was Ethereum and Ripple for the year 2017 and 2018/2019 had been bearish without any particular altcoins to be preferred we have seen almost all the altcoins going through bloodbath except few exchange tokens like BNB but which will be the most profitable altcoins for 2020? Will it Ethereum again or some other altcoins like litecoin or BCH or Ripple?

It is still Ethereum because they are going to launch ETH 2.0 that solves their scalability issue and transition to POS. Even though the early phase of ETH 2.0 lasts for 2 years, there is no doubt the price will rise because of the demand for running the node. ETH Network is too crowded right now, limiting the adoption and causing the company to move out of ETH platform and even some of them created their own Blockchain. With this upgrade, there might be a significant change in the network and solves this issue. If they can address this issue, the demand for using ETH platform will rise significantly and the demand for ETH coin will follow after it too.

I would say ETH is still current best for investors because they have a lot upcoming big events in 2020 and i'm sure the future of ETH is bright.
I'm gonna also add XLM has a great time in 2020 and we have to invest now because the price is still cheap and the transaction speed is great, transaction can be done in seconds with also very low fee. XLM also has partnership with big company like IBM dan Delloite which means this coin has a bright future

both are centralized and terrible projects. the only thing they have bigger than others is their market capitalization and advertisers otherwise the best pumped altcoin of 2017 have been a lot of other coins that had a much bigger return than these two coins.

that is because the bigger a pumped coin is the slower its dumping is going to be. for example for those two shitcoins since they were huge, their dumping took 2 years and it is not yet ended.
but all those smaller coins that got pumped even bigger, they got dumped fast and reached bottom and have been pumping all through 2018 and 2019.

historically whenever an altcoin is pumped so many times, it reaches a time where it can no longer be pumped. these coins are like that at this point. they will see pumps but they will be a very small portion of what they used to be pumped.

Honestly I no longer believe in blockchain’s application outside of it being used for cryptocurrencies, and when it comes to this, Bitcoin is still king. Other altcoins that are trying to gain mainstream adoption as a currency have potential, specially if they have what it takes to push back Bitcoin. ETH seemed to have that ability. they are upgrading blockchain to PoS with Sharding, and solving scalability issues. NEO is another option because people are referring NEO as the Ethereum of China with a global development, and Chinese will start investing in the projects that they own it.

Alongside the ETH and NEO, i think that in 2020 some of the smaller altcoins that offer a working product desirable from people will most likely make 50x-100x easy. But it will be very hard to find out exactly which one will do that on exchanges like Binance, Kraken and Kucoin, without doing a fundamental analysis and evaluating risk and reward ratio.

Same here. I stick to my old choices of altcoins. Ethereum is of course on the top of my list. Many are saying negative things about Ethereum. But after Bitcoin, is there any other altcoin that comes better than Ethereum? I would say there is none. I will not even count those altcoins that are claiming to be better than Bitcoin but cannot even make it to the top 100. Aside from Ethereum, there is always Monero, Litecoin, and Waves.

I will suggest to invest in BTC,ETH,LTC BNB and Dash for 2020. It is right that if btc pump hard in 2020 then many unknown and newly lunched project will also bullish. But its so difficult to track these project accurately. But its sure that eth,ltc,bnb will go with BTC.

Bitcoin will still be up there for me. In as much as potentially successful coins are cropping up, Bitcoin still leads. Ethereum is also one to go with. It might not have gone up as many expect, but I think it will in the coming year(s). This two are still my best. Litecoin, ripple, and some other altcoins will go up too. But i think that will be dependent on how Bitcoin moves.

I will select the coin that struggles a lot this year, and that is ETH because it will likely to bring good return to investors once it recovers and pump.
Though this is just a speculation and there is no assurance I will see ETH being the best next year, but I have so much belief on the coin that is one of the major reasons for the bull run last 2017.

This is the coin created by the scammer Craig Wright, by forking the Bitcoin Cash Blockchain (on 15th November 2018). From what I have heard, Calvin Ayre teamed up with Craig Wright to pump the coin, but they failed to overtake BCH. Do you know what they did after that? First they crashed the BSV prices by filing lawsuit against those who claimed that Wright is not Satoshi. Once the prices crashed (as many of the exchanges delisted BSV) and they could accumulate a huge amount of coins at dirt-cheap rates, they pumped the prices by filing a patent suit claiming the ownership of BTC. In the end the Ayre/Wright combo earned a huge amount of money by scamming the users.

No one was able to predict perfectly well what happened in the previous years. Almost everything came as a surprise. So, in 2020, a lot of us will be caught unawares when it is time. Although, I believe that bitcoin will grow beyond where it is now, but how much or the extent to which it will grow is what I do not know.

In my opinion coins or tokens that have electability that will be able to glide safely in 2020, given that Ethereum is felt to be weak and a lot of abuse in ETH-based tokens, or also could be TRON based tokens could become king in 2020 apart from stable coins.

From coins beside BTC my bets are ETH, ADA, LEO, VET and Ardor. Then there are some bags i haven't filled yet so i don't shill them yet at all. Some of those are collectables and tokens that haven't delivered yet so i don't want to promote them either because they are more of a gamble still. But most of my holding will be in btc for a long time until the altseason.

@Wysi I would once again pick Ethereum, Ripple and Litecoins only as these coins have shown in the past they can bounce back and generate stellar returns. Also if you go to see the alts coin market is heavily crowded, but most of these alts don’t have the potential to generate high returns hence it’s besy to go with trusted alt coins only.

I do not think so, if it happens then market monopoly will occur and will eliminate the nature of crypto no one can regulate it. I am more interested in BNB because its usefulness and volume is quite good and ethereum remains a good investment in my opinion in 2020. i guess investing in Altcoins is still profitable in these time, we can still see top altcoins like ETH or XRP atr still holding the top positions for now and even in the future, so for long term, they are still the most worthy altcoins for us to invest when the market start recovering in next year.

In my opinion, you are asking for too much. There were enough threads at the beginning of 2018 predicting that ETH will overcome BTC. We all know what happened next, but to be fair, I hope that 2020 will be the year of all altcoins in general.

XRP is still profitable, BNB has appeal because of its exchanger platform. BCH has a good potential to be invested, then there is USDT with the concept of stable coin which is a conversation about the right alternative payment. Actually when talking about the popularity of many altcoins, especially BNB, while for the best altcoins I think XRP.

I'm not shilling any of the coins I own, but I'll agree with you on Eth.  I'm pretty excited about it becoming proof of stake, even tho I don't *yet* own the 32 Eth required in order to stake it.  Gives me something to shoot for, and its cheaper than a dash masternode at least.  I do also think Eth is undervalued at the moment especially considering where it used to be (tho that's true of most coins now).

Seeing as how most coins can be gotten relatively cheaply, you probably can't go wrong if you just pick a few from the top 50 on coinmarketcap.  I'm not sure about ripple but no doubt you could at least make a short term profit if you bought it now.

what is to look up for XRP, they've been there for too long but the value isn't really making a big jump. i'm not investing more of the ETH but i do have which i think this is really going to be worth investing when they finally release the eth2.0. staking will be a fun thing to do with eth. there at lots of altcoins to watch out, there is Chainlink and EOS, not very cheap but worth investing.

As of now, altcoins was unpredictable because of bearish market that kept making it harder to recover. Bloodbath is fearing to happen at any moment, so every situation was crucial to see particular on a specific altcoins. In 2020 I can't finally give my full analysis on which of those promising coins, could really be the best if any of them will have the fame. First and foremost BNB has been showing more consistent market ever since  were at falling moments of crypto. However, I am always looking forward for ethereum to have the best potential followed by BNB and XRP.

I don't know if there would be the best altcoins again in 2020 since all I've read almost a year is the beating of altcoins. People keep trying to invest in some altcoins but at the end none of them are seems so happy. This is maybe the result of too much bearish of the market that most investors are losing patience to hodl and eventually end up selling them.

There are so many altcoins competing to each other my opinion is that, the top 100 altcoins will be good and they will give you an opportunity to earn money either small or big profit. ETH and BNB has a better chance to be on top again and this time i will stick with my ETH because of the future update, it will become big again.

Ethereum again for me. I don't have anything to say about the other altcoins but it's what I think to be the most preferred altcoin for this year. BCH and Ripple is a no for me and for obvious reasons, I think everyone is very aware of that.

No doubt Binance coin BNB is going to be super successful next year. BNB is one of the most profitable altcoins this year 2019 also and I think it has a huge chance of growing bigger in the year 2020 because it is backed by the Binance.com, the world's biggest cryptocurrency exchange and all it assets.

My prediction maybe Ethereum again, i not see other altcoin have far good progress especially for new tokens. Maybe ETH still can follow bitcoin to pumped again next year. There are many best altcoin for year 2020 and I think ethereum will remain on the best altcoin. For me, the best altcoin for 2020 are ripple, litecoin and binance coin. I already have ripple and binance in my wallet and my plan is to sell it once the bull run come. Well that's because Ethereum has been one of the best altcoin that can be seen by most investors. And, I strongly believe that there will be a moment for it again in the future. Whether it would be before the 2.0 or after that, there's still something to wait for Ethereum and that's why most of us are staying on it. The fact that it has retained it's position for consecutive years although there was a moment that it was replaced by XRP but that happened so quick.

BNB is not bad coin too, if Binance keep their good progress and keep make new improvement, Binance coin can be top coin like ETH too. I think you should review your knowledge. In my opinion Ripple and Stellar are the leading coins in this market and the trading volume is always very high so there will be no liquidity problem when trading. For me these are still two good options for investment because in the last few months these two coins are very stable and many investors are holding this coin for the time being. My altcoin portfolio as of now has 90% BNB and 5% XLM and 5% TRX but things will change if I decide to convert my BTC (not sure) into altcoins or most probably trade BNB for XLM and TRX as I have decided to focus of XLM and TRON for upcoming months as they might be prove more beneficial as they are most underrated as of now.

BNB is a good altcoin but investing 90% of your portfolio on it is not a good decision and looking at the both you portfolio, I believe you choose coin base on there rank on capital market because altcoin like XMR, DASH, MKR, ZEC, QTUM etc are long existing coin, still maybe to hold the top spot and than beautifully in the market.

In my opinion there should be a most accurate analysis later this year so people know exactly which coin is best to hold in the long term. ethereum will continue to be the best altcoin as it is with bitcoin, although there are many new and growing altcoin that are pretty good like BNB, XRP, LTC. it is difficult to replace the role of ethereum which is the companion of bitcoin, because all new altcoin transactions will always use ethereum.

Litecoin doesn't have many new updates to investors and the developer sold all of the coins last year so the chances of this project growing are not high. I would love to invest in LTC but do not like long-term holdings because the risk is too great and usually only trade day to profit from this coin. For me, this year any altcoin is not worth the investment and I will sell when profit because I don't care about the current trend of this market.

I think it does not matter, even if I feel that most of the coins in the market are not worth anything I do not get to decide that, if investors once again feel comfortable investing in altcoins then we will see all kind of projects being funded even if they do not deserve it but for that to happen the growth of bitcoin needs to slow down, if that does not happen then investors do not really have any reason to look at other coins when bitcoin is giving so many profits.

This is the problem that I have with binance coin as well, I understand that the binance exchange is really good and it is the leader of the market and will probably remain in that place for a very long time but we know that any exchange that is centralized is one hack away of losing their reputation and their clients and when that happens the binance coin is not going to be worth anything and I do not want to be the one that is holding those coins when that happens.

Bitcoin will beat all altcoins as it's pretty dominant now, it still the highest dominant rate but that does not mean that only bitcoin is a good investment.
In fact this is the time where we can choose good altcoins as most of them are undervalued right now, we should not hesitate.

By the looks of it the year 2020 will go by without we finding out which coin is the best coin. Sure there could be some unknown small coin that went up 800% during this period or whatever but going from 0.00000001 etherum to 0.0000008 ethereum is not really all that great when you consider the volume is also 90 bucks, people talk about those ones like it went up but that is like me buying a hundred bucks worth of it and suddenly it x10 easily, thats not the point of the increases, its more serious than that.

The last time i checked, altcoin market are highly manipulated which simply means people can easily make losses through it while in the other hand is the pathway to make awesome profit in the crypto trading activities.

I agree with all who have said that bitcoin is the best compared to other altcoins, it does not mean that altcoin is not good and there are still many that can survive well and often make surprises. ethereum, XRP, LTC are good enough to be used as an investment so BNB is also good and does not always depend on Binance too.

These are my long-term options but only account for 20% of my assets because these are not my favorite coins. I tend to choose newer coins because these are the coins that are very popular, and if you're lucky, you can make a huge profit. Of course, before investing I always consider very carefully and only invest if it is cheap.

the problem is that the coins which you choose can bring you big profits and also they can leave you without money very quickly. invest 1000 dollars and tomorrow your thousand may turn into 10 dollars. 5 to 7 altcoin I think that's quite a lot. So far, I've been thinking about ETH and BNB in my wallet. if there are additional, most likely I will choose LTC. if there is the best altcoin this year, then most likely the candidate is the third coin.

My best 3 altcoins for now are :

The coin that is on top now, maybe another coin will take that position in the future. And the coin that was on top was lost from the market! There are many such examples. I'll look into that, thanks. Right now I'm placing my bets on Candle Chain though. A recent upgrade means that it will be able to handle 80k tps with 2 second finality and with 0 gas fees. Plus it's EVM compatible.

Yes, this thread is kind of old for this year because the OP was asking what's the best altcoin for 2020. Now, we're already in the year 2022 and there's a lot that has happened in-between this thread was creat until today. That said, it's still not known what's the best altcoin for us to buy this year but I purely suggest that we stick to the leading altcoins and buy while it's much cheaper now and hold it while waiting for the bullish season.

There will be no explosive trends in the bear market, but given the current events and news in the market, I believe that web3 and metaverse will be the main trends of the upcoming bull market. Defi is going through a very bad period when a series of defi-related projects are having liquidity problems as well as being attacked continuously, defi really has too many holes and needs to improve a lot in the future.
