I've recently read where the beginning of the New Year will also bring an Ethereum Hard Fork which will in turn increase inflation by a monumental 20%!!! What in terms of price and overall well being of Ether and it's future will this decision make? Any thoughts, comments and speculations are as usual, more than welcome. Thanks and a Happy Holidays.

The inflation increase idea is not bad at all but i will choose deflation over inflation nowadays, anyways nothing excited me more than ETH POS feature, i believe this feature is what will take ETH to another high level

Personally, I think so. The fact is that Ethereum is a very promising coin and gives great hope for the future. I follow Ethereum very closely and believe that over the past six months this coin has been very stable in the market. And most interestingly, according to individual forecasts, Ethereum will grow steadily in 2020, which will lead to large incomes for all owners of Ethereum.

Many investors are looking forward to Staking with ETH, i think the Prove of stake ability will make ETH do better not the increasing if inflation, but still better than nothing

I think that Ethereum will back up a higher price. In addition it is driven by halving Bitcoin 2020. I think ETH and other altcoins will bounce off quickly.

If the new fork is going to scale the ethereum network especially the network congestion issues are solved i will be all in and yes switch to pos algorithm will be massive for eth and price is expected to explode once pos is activated.

In my understand if the hardfork of ethereum will try to find the best solution to prevent the big inflation that caused by POW. that's why ethereum itself is reducing the block reward through use the eip proposal. I feel curious about what kind of article that you have been reading it.

Of course many people think that if it has reached Ethereum 2.0 there will be many increases that have been predicted in 2020, but it's true you say developers are slow in situations like this and need good skills so it does not cause anything.
Ethereum has now dropped to $129 on holidays like this, certainly holding Ethereum will continue to survive and will not sell cheaply as it is now.

indeed at the beginning of January there will be an ethereum 2.0 plan, hopefully it will produce a good decision, where previously several times was unsuccessful and withdrawn. we all hope that many investors will come and improve the conditions of ethereum

a 20% inflation is too high for the current demand but if they will add the pos feature it might help to get more demand.
in my opinion, it really hard to predict if the price will rise because of pos or go down because of 20% inflation

Ethereum release many program and positive news about their progress, I'm happy with that. At lest there opportunity created for us to stay in crypto, so far I only see ethereum doing that continuity. But market also has respond and we need to wait how the respond is, please don't do anything before know the fact. Stay positive and never red market let you down, replace your trust in ethereum because this coin is really answer from bad bitcoin movement.

Inflation will make the value to be lesser than before,so actually you no need to be happy about their inflation.But here is something different which is about to hard fork, I am not sure about what it bring to the ethereum usability hope it will do some betterment can influence its price also.

Correct me if i'm wrong but for the most part ether is marketed as a "platform" coin and we usually all go along with that but shouldn't they be pushing for mass adoption and everyday usage?

I am very disappointed with what is happening with the development of ETH. despite the loud statements of the team, etc. we do not see any positive changes not in the technological plan and in no other way. That was good for the holders but that can't affect who didn't use ethereum because not all increases was good. Maybe if you hold an ethereum from its lowest price then that was good because I do sell my ethereum because I believe on bitcoin but now it was hard to trust ethereum.

To all this we need to add that 72 million ETH was created in ICO. Only 37 million was mined so far in this 5 years.

We can see after Ethereum released 2.0 I think it will have a good movement and prices will continue to rise, and I am sure Ethereum will reach the highest level again in the next few months only now the price is low whether this is the effect of Christmas and holidays so Many sell it for holidays after Christmas.

I thought so before, but lately I no longer think about the rise in ethereum, without our knowledge there are a lot of ethereum out there held by hacker, and recently it was reported that Plustoken also holds ethereum. it all overshadows ethereum prices to go up, so I think this will be very difficult. let me know if my concern is wrong

Don't be too positive, this is crypto. What the massive predict isn't usually the case and even though it does turn out to be as they predicted, usually the time frame isn't always picture perfect meaning their speculation could turn out to be correct but when they did make the prediction to occurs won't, an example is the next market bull run. No doubt it'll happen but not when many think it'll e.g 2018, 2019 and now 2020.

Back on topic, ethereum is definitely going to have an interesting year come 2020 as either their ongoing development will bring about a positive responses toward the project or results in failure, my thought is just not to be too optimistic but keep a close eye on the project and watch out for the response of the community before your make any move towards gambling on the success of their implementations.

Saturating the market isn't always a good thing, look at all these staking coins the majority aren't nearly as attractive to invest in now just because of the minting feature. It causes dumping etc etc.. Also the guys in Ethereum need to take away the extra minting option on newly created coins. If it starts as a 21 million max supply coin is should be capped at 21 million.

I might not be able to comment on the potential price increase because I don't do price speculation but what I can say is that Ethereum has been awesome since it's invention and it might just be the best gift that Cryptocurrency space has seen so far, I just hope the fork improves the scalability because that is the only downside I can see in Ethereum right now.

I do not think hardfork will cause inflation. Few weeks ago ETH had Istanbul hardfork which was successful, also there will be 2.0, and none of them can cause inflation. If you mention last price drop, its also not related to hadfork. The market was the more thematic in recent fall. I may be wrong, if so, correct me. I have not heard anything about inflation related to hardfork.

There is no doubt that Ethereum is much promising altcoin than any other alts, but recently I am being fed up by holding Ethereum because of the profit almost near to zero. However, this year the hard fork worked a little bit for the Ethereum, but I don't think Ethereum price will be high without Bitcoin price growing up. Ethereum can't make it alone, all other coins are dependent on Bitcoin, Ethereum too. So, let's wait and see what is waiting for us.

As we all believe that the halving that will likely influence the price of Bitcoin come next year will equally affect positively all other altcoins Ethereum inclusive. Some people are of the believe that next year will be generally better for crypto currency as compared to this year 2019, so we should just wait and see what will happen for we are almost in the year 2020 already.

Anyway, I do think that long run ETH movement will still be bullish given the fact that it's still the dominant platform on which a lot of tokens are hosted. It seems that OP has read some fake news about this highly capitalized cryptocurrency. As far as I remember, the previous Ethereum hardfork called Byzantium was aimed at decreasing the inflation of ETH coins. Mining rewards have been reduced, so the Ethereum price skyrocketed from $80 to $130 during a week in early 2019.

I doubt that Ethereum developers will make any changes to the blockchain consensus that could negatively affect the ETH price in the cryptocurrency exchange markets.

Same here, inflation simply means price deterioration.  Meaning without any incoming fund, and increase in supply will definitely make the price of ETH to plummet.  I hope FUDers won't see this opportunity to flood the ETH market with lots of negative stuff.  I am not against this inflation but I am worry about the stance of those who are looking for opportunity to pull the price of ETH down.

Ethereum is not yet showed up it's real value yet, because people are not realizing that ethereum has the most features than the others and many others big coin right now are starting with erc-20 based. I think ethereum has a big role in cryptocurrency and i'm sure the price will be pumped hard in the future. So it's the best time to buy it right now.

It's bad actually and we don't want that to happen for coins that we have like Ethereum but with bitcoin it's designed as a deflationary cryptocurrency.

There's so much anticipation as to what would become from the ethereum 2.0 project. Several persons are positive about the impact of the project on the value of the tokens and the improvement which it's application would bring to the ethereum protocol.

It seems I almost lost confidence in ETH after reading the news that the founder of ETH had sold most of its ownership at the time of the 2017 ATH price.

Next year is the beginning of the rich getting those stacks of Ethereum and staking it and over powering the miners. I'm sure with the implementation of the POS on the ethereum network those rich investors will have a slight control over the market. It's just what I can see. I don't really see a new hype for Ethereum except the POS. There's not even a promising ICO, IEO happening right now.

I would say that holding a Ethereum is really good for making profit and holding it for a long term when you bought it in cheap is really good. And the value is not really going down below $100 which is good and stabilize its price.

And i prefer buying this altcoin that other who has not potential to increase its value in a long period of time. Also, the price could rise once the BTC price going up again. We'll just need a lot of patience.

If there is a change to ethereum 2.0 in 2020, actually I'm really looking forward to it, I'm curious after that whether it will affect the price of ethereum in the market later. I am happy if it has a positive impact on prices. But before that happens, I want to try to save ethreum at a relatively cheap price right now, because if the price soars later, this can be profitable.

We will wait for the actual implementation of the hard fork and see how the entire network has improved after that. For now, we can only speculate on the possible improvement results. Of course it is generally good because it is a response to some things within the project that need to be improved, not least of which is the limited transaction per second of the network as well as the shift to PoS.

It is still not confirmed, but the indications are that the Ethereum 2.0 roll out is delayed and we may not witness it before 2022 (possibly much later). This was the last nail in the coffin of ETH, and now we can expect the Ether market share to go down even more. Kinda sucks after the big 2017 pump i think people got lazy. Ethereum in my opinion is way behind schedule given the fact it still isn't as mainstream as it should be. We have Ripple that is in negotiations with Moneygram and that needs to be what Ether and its platform in my opinion needs to start looking into.

I am pessimistic that the renewal that will be done by ethereum can make price growth. the effort to update is to improve the platform, not directly to improve the value of ETH in the market. but if it has an impact on increasing market demand I think there will be changes in prices even though it won't be too big.

To be frank even in the past ethereum become popular thanks to all the ICO that are hyped so much. After that phase, Ethereum's popularity starting to fade slowly and even nowadays there's no relevant discussion regarding the coin anymore except some measly things and the POS update. Yaps, you can be sure. Your assumptions are not much different from mine. ETH 2.0 will be released in 2020 that is only an opinion, there is no clear or definite information. Algorithm replacement takes time, and needs careful thought in the future. but today many people are waiting and enthusiastic about welcoming this new version. and yes, the current PoW consensus algorithm from ethereum is still established and there is no need to rush to release 2.0.

I don't think like this. Ethereum is a gem in crypto, everybody knows that and in 2017, Ethereum showed up their real value! Right now Ethereum owner or developers are doing nothing to make higher price for Ethereum. ETH price was just shit in this whole year, I think people are losing hopes from this coin!

An expectation for the Ethereum has begun. People have been waiting for an ethereum to burst for years. In June 2107 the Ethereum market had the weight of bitcoin mite. I think it's June! Then the dominance of bitcoin increased too much.

The idea of staking has taken over the space and we may not consider the demerit until after a year when almost all the coins that started it now gets into the market at the same time. There’s a big expectation on the ETH update, it can bring the price more valuable again only if they succeeded on this one. I also heard the news that ETH team is not yet ready for this one and for the big change, if the update push through i just hope that the pump will begin. It's interesting because ETH price movement over the past few days have actually outperformed bitcoin in general, which isn't exactly what you'd expect if we are indeed headed for some catastrophic hard fork.

I think that the market's outlook for this hard fork is still overall quite positive. Especially with the expectations heading into 2020 that developments are going to be a lot more positive in the cryptospace in general, I do think that it is quite reasonable to expect ETH to have a wave of resurgence from the previous lows of this year.

Of course, that is given that the hard fork goes smoothly, which is not always a given.

I really do hope this happens. I don't hold much ETH but it saddens me whenever I see its rate on Binance. ETH has been my top 2 ever since and seeing it under $200 is really a pity. I'm still cheering for ETH to get back to its glory though.

I have read this statement where they clearly said that ethereum 2.0 is not coming soon. There are reasons for the delay and it is quite disappointing for some but this is only for the own good of ethereum.
The timeframe for the development expected to last for years, but even if it does not come this coming 2020, ethereum won't lose.

Do not create high expectations, value everything from the following point of view:

- In the past there was a great deal of interest in the ICOs and this greatly boosted the price of ETH, but few people are currently interested in ICOs.

- With ICOs becoming a failure, what use will ETH have to outperform competitors?

I'm not wrong when choosing ETH as a mainstay coin after bitcoin and it seems that many people are also doing the same thing. ethereum does provide events from fork and many others but in my opinion it is not very useful because the most important is the existence of buyers who really want to buy bitcoin, as long as there are no buyers, ethereum will not be able to survive until now.

Just try to believe about that but it seems like people can't be patient waiting for the ethereum update to be done in 2021. It's difficult to say where the market will be going on as so many people have expected the different direction for the future of crypto.

The rich will become richer just be doing what they have already been doing for years. Simple hold their eth in a node and make free eth. No need to buy mining equipment. On the flip side, it is now cheaper and probably safer to have an eth node then miners. At least staking you have the coins and you already broken even. Miners you have no eth and must mine your way up to break even and profits.

We are just entering the beginning of a new year and anything can happen in this 2020. of course I hope that there will be changes in prices on Ethereum and Bitcoin in this years because a lot of good news is often discussed by people about the future of these two coins.

Scheduled to be launched starting this year but will still start from the zero phase, so it is still limited to development. maybe the price increase could come from something else, or they have something better to announce in the middle of 2020. I still think ETH will upgrade smart contracts to be more effective with regard to quality to stem many ico scams and block the hacking activities of those who use them as main tools.

The roll-out of Ethereum 2.0 is delayed and worse still, there is a lot of infighting among the developers regarding this. Vitalik Buterin wants ETH 2.0 as soon as possible, and has even suggested an alternative proposal, which involves a new type of ETH validator. The original plan for the roll-out was to implement ETH 2.0 from 3rd January 2020 onwards (which changes the mining algorithm from PoW to PoS). Other developers are not happy with Vitalik's plan, due to two reasons. First of all, the transaction fee may rise. And secondly, there is a strong chance of security issues and bugs occurring as a result of this roll-out.

not sure, I think nobody knows. but hope is that can happen. ethereum is one of the best smart contract-based coins. but we also cannot lie, that ethereum also has many problems in it. with hardfork done, I personally hope ethereum will be even better. and can push the price up. after a long time there was no news or updates from the ethereum team. so prices today continue to fall.

It is only a wow if you consider the dedication of Ethereum developers to constantly make their products better. They are always hitting the road to meet their targets on time. That is indeed a wow. But as far as how much all these improvements affect the price of Ethereum we have to wait for it. We cannot say wow yet because as of this time Ethereum is still stuck at the bottom. Ethereum 2.0, when implemented is going to change ETH upside down. The PoW algorithm will be dumped in favor of PoS, and in my opinion this is going to help the exchange rates. PoW encourages dumping by the miners, and create an excess supply in the market (just like what is happening with BTC right now). On the other hand, in PoS, there is an incentive for holding the coins.

It was always been a yearly speculation to say that ethereum's market price will surge up because of the forks and upgrades. Though, with the previous one, there aren't really a good indication of market price there. But I still believe that updates and upgrades do really impact the market greatly and it might not be readily noticeable, it could be experience in a slow phased market development.

You are right, Ethereum is one of the great crypto and is worth investing but sad to say that it didn't meet our expectation, but it is fine as it has been very grateful for all of us through the years and its journey is not yet done, so we can still have the chance as they are doing something to make it great, let's watch out.

I have had few Ethereum stored in my Blockchain mobile wallet and I’ve never touched them, dayumn... :D I hope this is really true so I can be able to finally sell a part of it next year cause I have Hodl’ed them for more than one year now without doing anything with it, just waiting for the right time to sell them. I strongly believe that next year is going to be a good one for the cryptocurrency market as a whole, lots of coins are going to see increase.

Yes, in my opinion too, POS must be a good system as it will be encouraging its adopters to hold unlike POW to sell to cover up the running costs. Hopefully the upcoming days will be more different for ETH unlike how it has been struggling for last two years almost.

we must understand that these coins are not related to themselves. Bitcoin doesn't care about Ethereum, and Ethereum can have problems if Bitcoin drops. if the ETH 2.0 update will not be done in 2020, then even the growth of Bitcoin will not help to the Ethereum and there will be a possibility that Ethereum may have chance to stop to exist because so many people will simply be disappointed and start selling it

Low level crypto exchanges and business are listing there platform at the train to move there business taken but ethereum at second level of cryptocurrency doesn't do anything to boom their business on cryptocurrency space.

Without doubting the potential of ethereum, it is good for new businesses to use ethereum for their development but we are most probably forgetting the main source behind the changes of digital coin market. Ethereum is not independent indeed. It needs bitcoin for many things. For instance, its gain in value. If altcoins are going through bearish market then it is definitely not their fault or choice. Just wait for the right moment.

Price development will follow every bitcoin movement. We know Etehreum is the best platform after Bitcoin and the most valuable altcoin after bitcoin.
