Title: For newbies only

I'm sure that those who are into crypto since last year knew that downloading new mobile wallet from play store can be dangerous, well this is for newbies who just entered crypto space this year, most top popular mobile wallets have fakes built by scammers too, before you download any wallet find its website and download through the link instead

I would also suggest they search on coinmarketcap for the cryptocoins they wish to download. It's much safer to get their wallets and websites this way.
Not really a good idea to get them through google, twitter, telegram search due to the numerous fakes that exist.

I think most mobile wallets on google playstore are now safer, this issue of fake applications have been attended to last year when many are complaining about fake apps on playstore, I download on there and update my wallet apps from time to time

It is dangerous for real.

The newbies will not understand it if they are doing it for the first time. The apps that are on the play store may look legit because they are not aware of the fake apps. And google doesn't really detect or care at all unless those apps will be reported.

If someone downloaded a wrong app, as a normal process, it will ask for the private key but you will be curious why is it asking for that if the usual thing they'll do is to give you the PK instead of them asking for it.

When it comes to the cryptocurrency wallet we should definitely choose the trusted one because it is also for the security of our coins. Mostly some of the new cryptocurrency wallets are usually suspected as a scam and if ever you going to use it try to check all feedbacks or the team behind it so you can distinguish that it is safe to use.

Most of the hackers always target the newbie due to having a lack of knowledge and experience in the field of cryptocurrency. But, they can still avoid it if they are responsible for making research on a certain thing. Do your own research (DYOR) is always the advice of other members here and even me because if you are good enough on doing it then you will easily determine if the crypto wallet is a scam or fake.

If you going to download a cryptocurrency wallet maybe stick with the trusted and reputable wallet so there's assurance on the safety of your coins.

Researching may require too much time and effort but it is definitely useful because it will give you a better understanding with regards to different crypto wallets. Though sometimes newbies take no notice of how researching can guide them on deciding which wallet can make their funds safe and secured from scammers and hackers. They need to realize that it is our responsibility to protect our funds that's why finding a trustworthy wallet is a must to ensure that hackers won't find an opportunity to exploit our funds and assets.

This does not apply only to newbies.
It applies to everyone, either a professional, experienced or newbie, you need to watch out for phishing links, spyware apps and equally avoid fake apks from google

If you are downloading a single wallet for a particular token make sure you get the wallet link from a trusted source and also pick a wallet that has had security auditing done on it

Like the TemTum wallet - before release each wallet went through a security audit with BSI in the UK and this report is public - actions like this shows how serious the team take security of the wallet and tokens

much better to do this than trust a random wallet on the play stores which might be stealing your keys

Mobile wallets aren't that secure in the first place. If you're starting out in crypto, it's just fine to use them for a short amount of time, but there's a ton of potential weaknesses with mobile wallets even besides fake download links just due to the fact that they're on a smartphone. If you end up owning a more significant sum of crypto in the future, I would highly suggest you get a hardware wallet or an airgapped computer of some sort to store those funds more securely.

Keeping a desktop wallet would be a notch up in terms of security for most people, but if you go this route, make sure that you verify the GPG key of whatever wallet you're downloading so you can be sure that whatever you've downloaded isn't compromised in any way.

Every good wallets have official websites, coinomi, trust wallet, jaxx, copay, etc so of you are too afraid to trust apps on playstore you should go through their official websites and download but I doubt there are still duplicate/fake apps on playstore

in addition to the CMC mentioned by several friends above. I also used to look for websites or information about coins or tokens in this forum, precisely on the [ANN] (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=159.0) board. much safer, because in this forum is very complete with smart people. besides that you can also ask anything about coins / tokens, will definitely be answered by the team or members here. In addition to fake wallet, which is also dangerous, malware such as cryptojacking, can make data leak and the device does not run normally.

Yeah, not all wallet in app store have pass through the security audit, and for someone who is just downloading for the first time have no way of knowing this things, beside, scammers have developed so much skills that if you are not very careful it will be difficult to differentiate the fake from original, temtum are very serious about security is also the reason why users will have to pass kyc in other to be able to use tem wallet,

most wallet in app store that support multiple asset not sure have such level of security, tem wallet on the other hand don't support multiple coin, so maybe users can check out enjin wallet, it support multiple assets and very secured with such a great user interface.

I think the google play store is strict in selecting applications, but I can't figure out how the scammer application can pass the google review. It's better to use a wallet that is already trusted and has a lot of reviews if a newbie wants to use any wallet.

@Furryball this is a nice advice but not all wallets found on play store are fake, though it’s always recommend to do some research before installing any crypto wallet on your phone. Furthermore newbies can yet get scammed if they’re using desktop wallets as it happened in the case of electrum wallets where the wallet showed a PopUp saying people should update it, and by the time people could spread the word that it was a scam it was too late. Hence I would request you to add one more point to the op, that no one should update the wallet from inside it, rather people should go their official site and download the latest update.

Obviously you have to be more careful in downloading a wallet, because the basic use of the wallet is a place to store assets, so it's obviously very sacred and you have to be more careful in choosing it and using it.

These are mistakes that new people often make. Especially in CH Play, there are too many fake wallet apps listed there. It is important to prevent the wrong download of fake apps, we should ask the admin in telegram to have them send the safest link. In addition, newbies have to be careful of those who fake accounts of admin and PM for them first. Please read carefully the information of the person who sent you the link because there are thousands of scammers there. We need to be smart when clicking on strange links.

Don't only rely on your own knowledge when it comes in this matter because you might be prone from virus, malwares etc. and the worse thing is get robbed in the long run. Another tip I can gave is try to become aware on the surroundings where you belong, if you noticed that many of them uses Brand X (given that it was established long time ago) in the local scene then it's much safer to use compare to a not so well known one. Also, try consulting your choice here in the forum so that other members could verify its legitimacy. It was free anyway so there's nothing to lose and besides that's the real essence of this forum — to help and educate each other inside the crypto space :).

Personally, I believe that everyone can fall into the hands of scammers. And man is a creature that can be wrong. But a beginner just has a better chance of falling into the hands of scammers, and so you need to be very careful. For the future, I want to say that if a person decided to do cryptography, then he should already understand the essence of this serious issue.

Certainly, newbies should do detailed research about that coin before downloading any wallet application. I also think that before making such a download, they should have detailed information about the project too. And i advise them to read the comments for the project and its application in reliable forums such as bitcointalk.

Yes, you have the right decision to buy ledger nano x. Make a back up for your private keys will help you if somehow, you forgot the keys. And now, you can feel safe because you can prevent the bad things that might happen. I hope that you don't have to get any trouble when accessing the wallet, and you can also save many coins in your ledger nano x.

That's right, now in PlayStore it's very safe to download any application and to find a strong reference for wallet matters is also very easy via the internet at this time, so don't worry about wallet matters.

Basically, I have conducted many researches before I've found GetHashWallet. And guys seem to be bringing entirely new standards with truly advanced product. GetHashWallet is a secured and private hardware wallet, it is arrow certified and reliable. What also makes sense - guys had successful campaign on Indiegogo. I agree with this, one time when I was using telegram, I saw some offers that will let you download a certain BTC wallet and they will pay you for that. even though I was new in the Crypto Industry, I didn't take the bait because the payment is too low in the first place. later on, I found out, that those kinds of scam is known and wanted to get your funds when you deposit your BTC.

Going to their official website is the best way for a newbie not to be scammed.
No website = possible scam. Wait for them to make a website. I don't trust google too because there are times where if you search for information regarding a coin, you may click to a website which is considered a scam site. Also on telegram that is why i don't want to use it anymore. There are many scammers out there and newbies are very vulnerable to this.

Best advice for a newbie? Don't throw your money first without doing research.

Its not just "new mobile wallets" that can be risky. Anyone downloading a new random wallet on a computer on a phone bears the risk of getting hacked. There are tons of such wallets out there that comes with a backdoor that can steal coins from the wallet and also private keys of all other wallets that you have on your computer. That is why it is really important to choose your wallet carefully. It is best to use an updated wallet provided officially by the developers of that coin. Or look for a wallet that is open source.

I don't really search for mobile crypto wallets nor download many due to how unsecured mobile apps are currently. Some would even put ads in their apps and that just grinds my gears a lot .
I only use only one crypto online wallet, for the purpose of cashing it out plus reloading my sim credits.

My recommendation for newbies is that if they are going to download mobile wallets in Google playstore, you should know first the top ranked wallets because they genuinely legitimate for storing your coins just for an example the Blockchain, Coinbase, etc. Or you could've just download on their website just to be sure.

Very true. Another way newbies can be scammed. There is a need to always verify apps. Even if the logo looks genuine. Virtually every app on stores have fake duplicates. For safety purposes, verify wallet app or other apps (even if it is not related to crypto) before downloading.
In a way, I have fallen for this kind of situation before. But it was not crypto-related. Stay sharp!

There might even be platforms who have not yet launched their applications onto various app stores and in this situation we have to download the application from the official website itself. Usually downloading applications from direct official website can save our time as there are a number of plagiarized or similar applications been found on the internet so it is necessary for us that we select the correct one.

Mobile applications can access various functions like your location, your contacts, your email details, can send messages on your behalf, etc which might seem riskier at some cases but mostly we need to allow permissions for the same so there is not much problem usually if we never permit suspicious applications to access our private information.

There might be some platforms which might replace the original application with a scam one by loading it with some malware so it might not be trustworthy to directly download the apk or any suitable application from the web directly but instead play store or app store verifies the application for us which makes the application trustworthy.

You can always check for the number of downloads, reviews, screenshots, etc to make sure that is the same application you wish to download. A number of advanced malware have been running into the markets which could steal your private information and make it publicly available. Hence you should try to avoid installing any unknown applications onto your device.

They should search the coin name on CMC and find all the available wallet for that coin there. I think its the safest. There is some popular fake wallet. The most concerning example was that of an app called “Trezor Mobile Wallet.” Everyone should do this for avoiding fake apps. Check the Description, Check the Developer, Check the Reviews, Check the Downloads. Official apps have been downloaded thousands—and in some cases, millions—of times. Fake apps will have considerably lower download numbers.

In order not to get into such situations, beginners need to carefully study the information available on each of their questions. Fortunately, the forum even has a special section where you can start getting acquainted with cryptocurrencies.
This forum should have been made better for newbies who want to learn more about what crypto or other virtual currencies can generate a little profit for all of them.
So what's the problem? In your hands/opportunities to make additional guides for new members of the forum. Although there is enough information to make the first steps in the crypto world. Well, to use the available training materials or not depends only on them.

Believe me, if scammers create a fake wallet, then they will surely take care of creating such a fake website. You need to check much deeper and more thoroughly.
The fact that people generally install new unknown wallets on their devices seems incredible to me, because there are so many proven and reliable
wallets of a different nature and format that have been on the market for quite some time. However, people love new products, which means they will have to learn from their own mistakes.

You got it right!
A perfect example was with the very known electrum. This wallet is very legit and popular but scammers made a phishing site and fake wallet so those that doesn't know the actual website might land to their website and make it think that the wallet itself is safe.
Those incidents made them think that Electrum isn't safe but in reality, it is safe but they just became a victim of fake wallet and fake website.

Well informed. This information is very useful to not just the newbies but oldies. Oldbies also get scammed or hacked on the space. Its left for us oldbies and newbies alike to exercise extreme caution in our dealings
When downloading any app on either the Playstore or the Applr store? It's good to take these into consideration:

1. The ratings of the app. Usually 5 stars is the highest rate an app can receive. Should the rate be low say 1 star, just know that something is wrong somewhere.  Normally I am more comfortable downloading apps with atleast 4-5stars.

2. Another crucial thing to look out for when downloading an app is the reviews. Pay close attention to other users reviews on the review site. If the review is positive, then go ahead and download. And if negative, such app is risky to download.

3. Another important thing to consider when downloading any app is Number of downloads qn app got. For instance, you can't expect a popular wallet such as imtoken or any other popular wallet to have just 100 downloads. When you see such, its 90% sure that such app is phishing. And lots more reasons.

I hope this helps

I dont see the forum has lack of improvement to teach newbies. Members here are continuously sharing their insight and knowledge just to help them.

It is better we use the hardware wallet to keep the funds or coins so we don't have to worry about the bad thing that can happen. We don't have to carry the funds in our android because we don't know if that will still be safe for our funds or not. We can place the hardware wallet in our home while we can carrying the android without storing any coins on that mobile phone. Don't store your coins with something that you use every day because that will be dangerous for you if someone can break your mobile phone.

It is true, we must be careful since being aware is not enough to avoid this kind of scam. We should always remember that not all application in playstore is legit. And of course, it is better to download wallet files directly from the legit websites to avoid downloading the cloned wallets or those fake wallets createf by scammers.

Newbies are prone to scamming so they should be more cautious at all times. If they want to download the mobile wallet, research first about that certain wallet to prove if its legit or not. Scammers have always their own ways to make fake mobile wallets look more legit particularly in the eyes of newbies. Applications in the playstore are not all legit so we should look for the safest link instead to download the mobile wallet that we want.

It's really sensitive issue for investors and traders whom use mobile app/wallet for their asset. Cause there is many history from last couple of years that people got hacked because of using fake mobile app/wallet. It's depends on you which app you are downloading form google play store. If you are using any app which not protected by google then you should stop using that app. Because they can hacked you with all information easily. Through the link of play store and app store is enough safe. Newbie member shouldn't download very new wallet until getting popular, follow apps feedback in store. Before send public address in airdrop or bounty check twice that you downloaded right apps or visit website.
true, for beginners you should not download the wallet from the website because it is dangerous in my opinion it could contain a virus or something else, it is better to wait after entering the PlayStore and Appstore review process to be more secure, can also read reviews from some users who already use the wallet

Any newbie who is wise enough wouldn’t make such a mistake. I never made that kind of mistake when I was a newbie. First thing I did after getting to learn about Bitcoin and how it functions and also getting know that you need a wallet, I immediately searched on Google for the best and most popular cryptocurrency wallets. I also got to learn the difference about them and I didn’t waste time in choosing Coinbase because I knew that it would be safe for me and easy to use.

Another wallet I also use is Xapo, and it functioned well for me. Good thing about Xapo is that they had cold storage where you can store your coins for proper safety. I started with these two wallets and when I got to know more about bitcoin, that’s when I started using wallets like Coinomi. And if you check on Playstore or Apple store, you would see two Coinbase wallets – the main wallet and a fake one.

You don’t even need to be told which one is the real one because the fake one has 100k lesser downloads than the original which has up to 10 million downloads. But you’re still right, they should check from the website, but don’t forget that there are fake websites also.

Very easy to find scam app of top mobile wallet. Top mobile wallet already downloaded so many times, you can easily understand it. I can't see any problem in top mobile instead new wallet. Be alert before download any new wallet from playstore, for App store this is very rare case.

Actually there is no problem using a mobile wallet, as long as you download it from the official link. That is why we must be selective. I use a Magnum wallet, and it's safe, I like it because it's not connected to emails that have the risk of being hacked.

Newbie is indeed an easy target for scammers, so don't be easy to trust suspicious links, always double-check before you join or use any application.

I recently engaged myself in crypto giveaways on Twitter, a friend had me joined because she's been winning some free crypto coins when she shares or retweets a post. She let me install a wallet from Google Play and of course I installed without hesitation since she's been using it for a while now. Anyway, there are two crypto wallets on my phone, Coinomi and Wallet of Satoshi. For now I'll depend on my friend's recommendation about using it, I think reviews from other users helps too.

Open PlayProtect in your appstore settings.
Android phones though are not really affected with any virus. It is the memory card or an OTG flash drive which you will insert that will have viruses.
But again, never with androids.

You are right, but this applies not only to mobile wallets, but in general to any information that you receive via the Internet. Moreover, scammers can use Google forms, fake accounts, phishing sites. In general, it’s very difficult for beginners now, since everywhere you don’t go cheating everywhere. Android phones have in build memory space also known as RAM which basically makes the device perform various actions. This RAM can also be infected with any dangerous malware which would destroy some of the basic functions of the device which might even lead for a major cause ahead. Android phones have lowest security according to me as they do not even work well with antivirus or Internet protector and hence they might blindly store any data onto the device before checking for viruses.

A advanced virus can destroy everything which might be stored on the RAM of the device which would directly brick the device and also it is possible that the same virus might even search your internal memory and steal some of the most important files like private keys, .json files, etc.

You're very right buddy,  not just wallet app,  but every cryptocurrency app out there, you have to be extra careful because apps get easily pirated. Around last a year, there was a similar case of Atomic Wallet being pirated on playstore....  The devs had to write to google severally before the pirated wallet got dropped down.  The best thing is to follow the download link from the official website of whatever app who wanna download

Yeah you’re right about that, there are lots of fake copies of the original on playstore, so people really have to be careful about the apps they download from the Playstore. But, when you see these apps there are ways you can easily tell the difference – the original app will have more downloads than the fake app and you can as well check the reviews of the app before you download it. I don’t download app from the Playstore without checking the reviews to know what people think about the app.

I mostly go for the critical reviews to know the complaints those people have. And as I said, the downloads of an app can easily tell you the original between two apps.

That's one way to get in and access your device, so we need to be careful.

This is actually a basic understanding that must be understood by beginners who are just adapting to the cryptocurrency ecosystem. Be sure to always check every application that you will download on the official website and social media from the application provider. Use links that are only pinned by the official website, do not easily believe the links that you get randomly on the internet or strangers who invite you.

I'm sure that those who are into crypto since last year knew that downloading new mobile wallet from play store can be dangerous, well this is for newbies who just entered crypto space this year, most top popular mobile wallets have fakes built by scammers too, before you download any wallet find its website and download through the link instead

So you are saying that the wallets from Google Play are not safe?
Are you talking about the dedicated wallets from different projects, or all the wallets?
Universal wallets like Electrum/Trust/Mycelium are also included? I find your statement a bit bizarre, if true.

Agree, we must be careful in choosing a wallet that we download from the Play Store. In addition, choosing a mobile wallet that is trusted and used by many people is safer. Currently, there are 2 mobile wallet that I use, namely Trust Wallet and Imtoken

I would also suggest they search on coinmarketcap for the cryptocoins they wish to download. It's much safer to get their wallets and websites this way.
Not really a good idea to get them through google, twitter, telegram search due to the numerous fakes that exist.

You are very right, I prefer using Coinmarketcap for projects website and app downloads as google may not differentiate between a real and a phishing site. Anyone going straight to download from the Play store is at great risk of getting the wrong version, funny people may not pay attention to this piece advice.

That's the first thing need to do if we play store user, Must be careful always downloading mobile wallet and can be deposited altcoins on them. Because there are times that can going to be scam and lost your coins you have in your wallet. Most of the mobile wallet we download in the play store are not safe enough so ask first to those person using on it before to do some move.
It is true, we must be careful since being aware is not enough to avoid this kind of scam. We should always remember that not all application in playstore is legit. And of course, it is better to download wallet files directly from the legit websites to avoid downloading the cloned wallets or those fake wallets createf by scammers.
All altcoins we have are important on us so we must be protected it before its to late.
Dont rush read some more advice in the other people knows the apps that we want to downloaded so we can aware on it.

I also strongly recommend the newbie and everyone involved in crypto to ensure that the downloaded and installed application must be completely official from the service provider. Make sure to open an official website to avoid dangerous links.

The best thing to do is not to search directly on the playstore but to get the link directly on the website to make sure you will be downloading the correct wallet application. I don't use mobile wallet app since I have lost my phone a year ago. It was difficult retrieving the acces since I have lineked my phone number to my e-mail and verification.

If you are not alert, you can be victim of fraud. so you should be aware, it better to download from the original website without having to search on Play Store. If you want to download wallet from play store you should verify the app reviews and total user statistics.

Yes, because at the moment the fake cryptocurrency wallet with the real one is very similar, so beginners will not easily distinguish fake ones from the real ones, so the perfect solution is to visit the official website through a search engine like Google.

You're right that would be the safest way to download a wallet app. Scammers are doing their best to take advantage the newbies (actually even old investors here) in crypto thus its better to be very careful when searching. It would be better if you read reviews and experience first of those who already use it before downloading to make sure you wont get any problem if you installed it.

oh i think its better to have a hardware wallet because most of the people here said that its safe from thieves.

Hardware wallets do support most of the major cryptocurrencies and tokens, but there are also some coins which don't have a hardware wallet support, take for example MB8coin. For such coins, if you need to hold them you'll need to go for a desktop/mobile wallet which supports it. So when looking for Desktop/Mobile wallets, it's always better to go to the official website and then download it from there than randomly shared download links.

personally for me i am not a big fan of cellphone based wallets there are lots of security issues so i would suggest few security tips to follow:

Must enable 2FA and it would be better to keep separate phone one for every day use and other for your financial activities as your might lost your phone so it's always good to have a backup ready to go.  Avoid installing apps from unknown sources and don't install wallet on rooted smartphones as some shady apps/games can steal your data quite easily.

I agree on you somehow but you know what? I can't help but to think sometimes that answering newbies' questions are already an act of spoonfeeding (more particularly on questions which have obvious answers). Don't get me wrong guys, I love helping others especially the newbies because I once become a newbie as well and I know that feeling of struggle :). However, searching for a legit wallet which suits for you is one google away and you can verify it on your own by means of reading articles, testimonies, asking friends or even by digging existing threads here on our forum; right? So I expect that even a newbie will not easily fall on such trap made by the scammers as long as they research very well :).

It is more safer to download from a wallet for a specific coin's website link. Downloading a wallet from Google play store any other untrusted source is very dangerous for the users who have downloaded. It may steal information from devices which may hack other crypto wallet for that user.

I don't know if it's only me, but I feel more comfortable and safer downloading apps from Google Playstore than from the Google browser and websites. I trust Playstore so much when it comes to security and safety of the apps and games.

If not, then it will be safer to download the wallet from the official website of that wallet or crypto project. I would also like to remind everyone that not all wallet/crypto projects are safe even if they say they are. Some "bogus" projects will ask you to install an application or software in your phone or pc/laptop. Having an antivirus is also a plus especially in this business.

In able to store your coins you need to dowbload an app in the playstore. But please be careful becauae some applications are created by scammers that are shaped for their scams. Before downloading an application you must research first for the legit sites in where you can keep your coins. Through that you can make sure that you have a legit application for the storage of your coins. You must also look for a bitcoin user so that you may have a living testinomy and someone to be your mentor when it comes to bitcoin.

Yes sometimes their link description is not applicable and accurate to the real crypto wallet. There are some cases that the wallet there downloaded is not the real one and after they store their coins it's gone. They transfer the coins without any authority and other thing crypto wallets should have security features that verify every transaction in you make especially in withdrawals and transfer to main to trading wallet. They should verify via email or google authenticator to know every transaction and to have history ledger. We should be careful in downloading apps, sometimes they manage to open even our personal accounts and data.

Play store have some rules and regulations before they will list some apps so there is a very less chance that scammers can penetrate but if there are dangerous wallets that were able to penetrate the apps store then it is best that we should be careful especially if we have huge money to store. But in my case, I only trust our local exchange mobile wallet and I didn't use any wallet in which I am not yet familiar with so I can safeguard my money.

Aside from that, I also make sure that I will not put that huge money in one wallet only so I can lessen my loses in case one of my wallet will be expose to scammers or hackers.

I think that if you think the phrase too good to be true, it is applicable here because if someone or you saw some offer about earning great money withou further work then have a second thinking about it before you accept it because if you don't think wisely, it might be a scam that can take advantage of you. I am skeptical of downloading mobile wallet due to security risk. Not just the risk of downloading fake wallets but also on the risk of a phone being lost or stolen. It is easier to verify or to bookmark online wallet, than keeping a wallet on your phone. I am not actually good at keeping my phone and I have lost my phone several times, that one of the reasons why.

For those who will download mobile wallet, just read some review first or ask other users if it is safe or not.

Great advise buddy, there are so many fake apps you may download on Google store or even on some websites, before installing the application on your cellphone or computer you should check or read some reviews about it. Always make sure that you are downloading the legit application if you think that it differs from what you are thinking then think twice.

i don't know but i used some app wallet in my smartphone that iMToken, that is safe and i never geting lost my coin until now.
of course the main wallet i have in on my computer and all file about wallet is extra safe in my folder.
but i never know if mobile wallet is so dangerious, what that name of the app ??
You didn't get what OP mean. The OP just suggested when you have intention to download an application through Playstore or Appstore you have to go to the official website of the platfrom first. If you download directly from playstore/appstore you may have a chance to be scammed. Because the scammer can make a fake platform and cloned the real platform so this is why you have to go to the official website first and find the link that linked to playstore because it will be safe.

I'm sure that those who are into crypto since last year knew that downloading new mobile wallet from play store can be dangerous, well this is for newbies who just entered crypto space this year, most top popular mobile wallets have fakes built by scammers too, before you download any wallet find its website and download through the link instead

Mainly, more than half of the android wallets are dangerous and can be hacked easily.
I understand that now not all people have PC or laptop, especially in Africa. But choosing where to store coins, on Android or PC, I'll choose second

It is imperative to always move forward thoughtfully in order to be protected from all-round arcades. Even if you have to buy or download a small wallet like this here, but there is no minimum reliance, it is important to know who you are going with before doing anything.

I think that an existing wallet on an android or mobile wallet is sufficient as long as we store the word seeds safely. Mobile wallet such as Trust Wallet is one wallet that is widely used and is one of the safest wallet.

Yeah right, we need to find various information related to the wallet that we want to download. Now many scammers add Malware to the applications they create, so if we download it then the important privacy data like passwords will be easy for them to get it. Yes right better to download on their official site.

Yes I think that as a newbies they should not trust mobile apps that they will see in Google play store because even though it is from google play. They should pay attentin on what can happen and they should put attention on what they will do in those downloadable app that shows cryptocurrency because it might be an app developed by the scammers or hacker that might try to hack your information on yourself. My advise to newbies and beginners here in cryptocurrencies is be wary of your surroundings always and dont let your guard down because you will not know what can happen to you once ypu met scammers and if they will try to scam you. Dont trust strangers here and have someone that you know that you know well.

One thing I've learnt from this space is that, it's unwise to rush into anything. Downloading a wallet address could seem very harmless from a distance, but one still needs to be very careful and ask questions or carry out some research. One easy way to detect fake wallet is to check the number of downloads and always download wallet, only after verifying that the wallet is widely used and a substantial number of people have downloaded it.

I agree with this. In this cryptocurrency market, scams are easy. They can install viruses or worms into the fake application - which you will download and enter information into such as accounts or passwords, etc. Once you have entered, your account information will be sent to the hacker, and you will lose everything you have. Also, lots of people lose money on fake websites. The addresses of these fake websites are only different from the real ones, so if you're not careful, it's easy to be tricked into accessing phishing websites. Therefore, it is advisable for you to bookmark the necessary addresses and you will know that you are visiting a valid website.

Yes brother you are right. I agree with you. We should find out various information related to the wallet we want to download. and that is indeed true. Almost all crypto wallets registered in the PlayStore app are very dangerous. You can experience losing assets after downloading it. third parties are one of the reasons, because they can track or know the private key of your cellphone wallet.

I always advice anyone joining the crypto space to be mindful and watchful of scams and malicious ways of getting scammed in the industry. One quick way people get invaded and their assets stolen remains malware and Spyware implantation due to unsolicited downloads. You can easily get a malware by going about downloading all kinds and forms of apps which may have been designed by the developers just to steal your private information. As a rule, it is completely advisable to only stick to the top wallet brands like trust wallet, imtoken, enjin etc. These are all really good and recognized wallets in the industry making it difficult to fall prey to the several fake ones out there.

And the OP has suggested that we should visit the official website of the wallet provider. Phishing websites, fake applications, are often used by fraudsters to steal our personal data. The crypto world does offer freedom and privacy, we are fully responsible for the security of our accounts and assets, so we should adapt and learn security related matters. Moreover, this is related to the internet, just a small gap can make your account and device hacked.

If ever I tried to download any crypto wallet on Playstore, that was TRUST wallet only nothing else. Because most of the wallet that are
downloadable in Playstore are too risky to use, and sometimes its just a trap for the users to hack their account and steal all the
files content in the mobile phone.

I think the Playstore check first before accepting another application, so the application that has been checked has a verified label, so I guess it's safe and can be used. I use several wallets from Playstore and nothing suspicious to date.

Of course not all what OP trying to say is some are just use to scam people or uploading a fake app that is too good to be used but turns out to be a scam.

I hate it that Playstore allows anonymous users to simply put or allow app to be in there. They should restrict users or have some qualification ot any certificate at least before allowing them to accept some apps. We all knew that some of the developer using this opportunity and their skills to lure newbie people that will believe their platform is real.
