I'm sure that those who are into crypto since last year knew that downloading new mobile wallet from play store can be dangerous, well this is for newbies who just entered crypto space this year, most top popular mobile wallets have fakes built by scammers too, before you download any wallet find its website and download through the link instead
Open PlayProtect in your appstore settings. Android phones though are not really affected with any virus. It is the memory card or an OTG flash drive which you will insert that will have viruses. But again, never with androids. I have been using it since the day it was created and even done a lot of customization and never have a problem once even connecting with an infected computer.

You are right, but this applies not only to mobile wallets, but in general to any information that you receive via the Internet. Moreover, scammers can use Google forms, fake accounts, phishing sites. In general, it’s very difficult for beginners now, since everywhere you don’t go cheating everywhere. I have also been a victim of fraudsters several times and now I try to study and double-check everything.

Android phones have in build memory space also known as RAM which basically makes the device perform various actions. This RAM can also be infected with any dangerous malware which would destroy some of the basic functions of the device which might even lead for a major cause ahead. Android phones have lowest security according to me as they do not even work well with antivirus or Internet protector and hence they might blindly store any data onto the device before checking for viruses. A advanced virus can destroy everything which might be stored on the RAM of the device which would directly brick the device and also it is possible that the same virus might even search your internal memory and steal some of the most important files like private keys, .json files, etc.

My advice is instead of storing your assets in your cellphone wallet, but on your PC. because in my opinion security and privacy protection on a PC that has antivirus, more secure than on the cell phone.

Aside from that, Avoiding suspiscious links and downloading unnecessary application can help to avoid scammers/hackers. Even if you have an anti virus, if you keep on clicking anything, they can still breach your security.

How possible is this with some app? This is quite dangerous if the case would be something like that. Can you name some apps that are posses this kind of stealing. I just want to study how an app can be used for this shameful deeds. I agrees but PCs are more prone to viruses right? Especially if they are using microsoft windows. Phones are not secured but I'm thinking more users here are got scammed or hacked through PC cases situations.

I've seen fake electrum apps and website, all you have to do is look for wallets ANN page on this forum and go through their official website, but alas it's more better now on Google playstore

yes , that is true that downloading aplication through google play can be dangerous. It is recommended to download the wallet from the official website of their project. Or we can ask in their telegram channel about official wallet .
not all applications on Google Play are dangerous, we can see reviews from several users of the application and if it is dangerous just report it immediately to Google Play so that it can be followed up by them It is curious that many users install such applications without even looking at the reviews. In addition, sometimes the application is new and there are no reviews on it, however, this does not prevent people from installing this unfamiliar dangerous suspicious application on their working device. Then they are surprised that they were hacked.

You're very right buddy, not just wallet app, but every cryptocurrency app out there, you have to be extra careful because apps get easily pirated. Around last a year, there was a similar case of Atomic Wallet being pirated on playstore.... The devs had to write to google severally before the pirated wallet got dropped down. The best thing is to follow the download link from the official website of whatever app who wanna download

Yeah, I remember those funny times far in 2017 when this kind of phishing became very popular. MyEtherWallet, most popular exchanges and crypto applications... Hundreds of people got scammed by the hackers...

Of course you won't download wallet that is not yet have any reputation, it's like you are going to put your money on a new open banked without any history yet, etc. also storing your cryptocurrency to a mobile wallet, web wallet and exchange is extremely dangerous because your funds are in risk that anytime a hacker might target those platforms and all the currency on that platform will be at risk.

Some apps are protected by playstore. But this does not mean it's scam free most wallets that are not known can run away with people's funds.

Yeah you’re right about that, there are lots of fake copies of the original on playstore, so people really have to be careful about the apps they download from the Playstore. But, when you see these apps there are ways you can easily tell the difference – the original app will have more downloads than the fake app and you can as well check the reviews of the app before you download it. I don’t download app from the Playstore without checking the reviews to know what people think about the app. I mostly go for the critical reviews to know the complaints those people have. And as I said, the downloads of an app can easily tell you the original between two apps.

Can you please at least site some of those apps so that it will be more substantial, like what app is that and how they turn out to be a scam. Im sure this will really be a great help, not only for newbies.
for newbie i think using ico rating like coinmarketcap, ico becnh and suggest from pro traders is best way to know. like this find high rating from ico rating site, asking to some poeple, you can combine from this case to get action

Yes, for beginners it is better to visit the coinmarketcap site and another coingecko site to better understand and know new projects that are born by developers, but for the ico site because the visitors have started to decline when many ico projects don't clear.

I feel like newbie again due to long time inactivity. Thank you for the advice. Although before, I make a research first before trusting any wallet because this will hold my coins but I think I have to be more careful this time. But of course I can still use the my wallets before. In fact due to much higher security of those wallets this time compare the last time I used it, I have a hard time recovering it.

Yes, that's right, because on the official wallet site there are also several wallet options for every device, such as Android, iOS, Desktop and others, so it's very clear that to make any wallet you have to visit the official website.
