Hi there. A while ago, I saw an interesting contest started by changelly on Twitter (https://twitter.com/search?q=%235yearsincrypto&src=typed_query), in which they're inviting users to share stories about their experience in crypto over the past 5 years with a hashtag. But it seems to me that 280 symbols on Twitter are not enough to fully reveal the topic.
So how about we share our funny/dumb/instructive stories here?

I'll start. In January 2018, when mining hype was at its best (what a time!), I was assembling a new computer for myself. Among other things, I had to buy a video card, because they were in a huge shortage, their price tags jumped closer to space.
In general, it was a pity to give $800 for the usual GTX1070, so I decided to make it work even a little bit and try to do mining Zcash. Fortunately, I had a friend miner who helped to figure out the issue.

Unfortunately, when the card delivered at me, the ZEC's course collapsed significantly, and I practically did not earn anything from its mining. However, I didn't despair and decided to study this issue more deeply. As a result, this failure situation helped me to work my way into the world of cryptocurrencies and start making my profit on this though I decided to focus on making a profit from bitcoin mostly, not altcoins.

I was introduced to cryptocurrencies by a friend and I liked bitcoin. It is the safest, steongest and can not be susceptible to 51% attack because of the high hash rates generated by the miners. I downloaded electrum wallet and very helpful for me.

There was a time I was just scammed when I bought a shit coin, over 90% of the investment capital were gone and I noticed that the lesser a coin is ranked the high its volatility. So, I liked bitcoin more for this because it is not volatile like other coins but that does not mean it is not volatile at all.

I later know about crypto scam and how to avoid it and here I am today. I do not have the mentality that cryptocurrencies are scam again when I know about it very well.

Well, my story from years ago when I lost my BTC temporarily (for ~1yr) due to the lack of a proper storage of my seeds fits all 3 narratives: funny, dumb and instructive. The feeling of losing your crypto wallet sucks, but the feeling you get when you recover it is amazing :D

Now that I've been through at least two wallet losses (one was not significant), whenever I teach someone about using cryptocurrencies the first thing I tell them is to take maximum care of the seed, never use centralized services (or at least avoid them as much as possible) and protect their own wallets. It takes only 2-3 minutes to properly store and check a recovery seed but it saves any single fraction of a penny you invest. Worth it, entirely.

But I will admit that I was scam by a bitcoin doubler in February 2017, not that huge amount though, but I would say that it give me a wake up call and promise my self not to be scam again and just continue to educate myself specially in trading.

There were a lot of things, and fraud, with fake ICOs, and by stupidity, I once gave a person on the exchange 0.052 BTC who promised to double them at the expense of DICE, despite the fact that before that he had done this for about 10 people, but I and a couple of people got nothing . But then 0.052 BTC was $ 40, and they were not particularly sorry, but now there is such a feeling. But to learn from mistakes, it’s better that way.

I don't have so much good stories about cryptoworld because all things happen in a normal things something like that, maybe the best thing for me is that when I invited my friend to try cryptoworld and now he is very thankful for me because he is now making money, we are still student and having a work even though we're still student is such a good thing because we can now sustain our needs from school, just like financial on projects, tours, etc.
We also now can buy what we want because of what we have invested before way back 2017 when the price of the bitcoin became so low.

My story is about saving my life with crypto. I have posted this earlier as well but here it goes again.

Back in early 2017, I met with a motorcycle accident while coming back from office. It wasn't life threatening but I got seriously injured. I din't have much cash left in my account as it was almost a month-end. But I needed a good amount of money to continue with the treatment as my Doctor prescribed some tests including CT scan which is a costly affair in my country. I had no choice to but to borrow money from my relatives or parents.

However, I had some small amount of bitcoin in my crypto wallet. I immediately covert them using localbitcoins so that I can take care the medical expenses. I was off-work for around 1.5 week and bitcoin took care of my personal as well as medical expenses. It is one of the examples how bitcoin can timely help us to achieve any shortfall. Probably I am one of those rare examples, who didn't sell of their bitcoins during the ATH in late 2017 and continue to HODL.

It was in the late year of 2016 when I was looking for some job to earn online and guess what? I landed on some kind of forum that has a thread regarding cloud mining and that was my step towards learning Bitcoin. Back on the day, I was too focused on researching cloud mining it was called hash-ocean it someone here remembers. 2 weeks after I learned about it, it got disappear and scammed a hundred thousands of Bitcoin. It took me two years to land in this site before I learn everything from here until now I'm still learning but I can assure right now that every piece of information that I've learned from here is legit.

I am sure for people who involved in crypto before 2017 will agree that in 2017 will be the best year for them because, in that year, we all can make a big profit. We can make a lot of money from cryptocurrency, and that is not just for making a lot of bitcoin, but it's about making huge money from both bitcoin and altcoin. Yes, I make the best stories too in that year. With my bitcoin and altcoin, I make a lot of money which I can use it for myself and my family. And from that moment, I am trying to invest in many altcoins, and of course, I invest too in bitcoin, especially if bitcoin can go down too deep.

One of my story, why in here into the world of crypto currencyy, is because of a friend of mine because he introduce me the bitcoin, like how to earn more Satoshi and what are the ways to make more earnings on the year of 2017 and now he becomes successful and I regret in life to make included into the world of crypto too and now he becomes one of the youngest I know earning with bitcoin and now I'm heading towards into the world of bitcoin too and ask some guide with the help of him to make more earnings and income by that it takes time to make a profit but still this is like a business that you need to risk and win before you get what you want.

Oh history.
I am kind of a forgetful human being but I will try.

It was years back when I saw bitcoin in one of a pay per click website.
I do it because someone referred me and then he will do the other work for me. Which is also referring. He will put downlines as they call it.

Afterwards, it was faucets. It was really less when converted to USD back then.
I earn like 200k sats per day before with bonuses when I am in the right time. But now, they pay like 10-50 sats (maybe less) which might take you forever to get 1 bitcoin.
I never stopped there into knowing bitcoin deeper. Now here I am in this forum.
I am not much for technicality of it but having the basics is fine with me as long as I understand it.

Seems like everyone were looking for a job online then landed here. Well, the same as mine if it weren't about that CAPTCHA resolving thing I won't be here. Back in 2017 when I was looking for an income that would save me from my pleasure I mean I wanna buy my stuff independently, and the thing that always pop out in the internet whenever I search for an income online is that CAPTCHA stuff but it turn out to be a suspicious one; asking documents I can't provide. Later that, a friend of mine introduce me here, I know nothing about BTC beside that SilkRoad story and all. Am I worried? Yes, but I keep going since discussions here are entertaining, and interesting till I earn my rank, and by that day it was the day a friend of mine introduce me to what a signature camp is. Well, as of now, I find this forum differently not just as a source of income but a different community full of interesting stuff I want to know more. Well, I pursue a course which related to tech because of the influence of ~~btc~~ this forum in my life. I am still learning though, I am still no one in this community. My story isn't that interesting but I wanna share too.

I remember being basically broke and learning about bitcoin in 2011....my first purchase was on VirWox, buying Linden Dollars, then trading them in the Second Life game to some lady in France for some bitcoin. I got 13BTC @ $11 each!

I got a bunch and sold them for 100% profit to people in person, and it was awesome...as the time went by, other friends and people I know wanted, so I was buying and selling to them directly, most of the time for about 20% profit, and I would repeat over and over.

The sad part was that I didnt hold....I was constantly buying more stock, selling for a profit, then buying even more stock.
Then I started trying to find other ways to make my bitcoin grow, so I 'invested' in some cloud mining websites (GAW mining), some Litecoin mining operations (LTCGear?), and a few other places (Bitfunder) where I lost most of what I had.

So now I have a very small percentage of what I could have had, if I had just been keeping some of the profits I was making, but I was too greedy.

I have been holding for a few years now...and I keep a small amount on some exchange which I trade to try and make some more bitcoin. The moral of the story is to not be greedy....keep your bitcoin safe....DONT try and 'invest' your bitcoin in get rich quick schemes.

I am not broke anymore, and do well, but I still shed a tear when I think of how much bitcoin I could have had, if I had just been more responsible.

I think most of the accounts that created and active that year will have same stories mate about their experiences because that year is the Highlight of this market.

People that year(Including me) made good profit that year but after makes us also experience the Bloodiest year of this market.

The best experience I have is learning about cryptocurrency. Of course, at first, I doubt it but after experiencing it, I find it interesting. My whole journey here is what I can say my best experience. From learning, posting, and improving my knowledge about crypto. In the first place its quite hard for me but later on I see some improvement in me. Although I'm still improving, I can say that I have already learned a lot, and even experience things like earning and buying the things that I want because of cryptocurrency.

I guess in the future, I will gain more fun and interesting experience that I can share here. And btw, I think it's also one of my unforgettable experience when I had an issue here in the forum with the other account, but I manage to clear everything about it. It's unforgettable since I saw that there are members here who trust me even when they don't know me personally.

Best experience is to achieve financial freedom through bitcoin, and because of bitcoin I was able to Zero out my debts and make myself more liquid, especially on a times like this where we are facing a big problems. Bitcoin changed my life, all I can say is bitcoin is important to me.

My crypto experience was mainly getting interested in altcoins as a quick way to make money. I got into trading and tried it all from trading shitcoins to trading top altcoins and finally into trading and then holding Bitcoin.

You have to kind off grow up to become a holder.

Most people look for a quick buck and get into all those scams hyips, cloud mining, faucets, all to learn that the real value lies in Bitcoin.

One of my best experience so far is when my friend invited me to join this forum, he told me about this and I am very thankful to him because of what he have done, I can now buy what my wants and neeeds, not like before when I don't have enough money to buy what I want.
This forum really help me with my personal needs especially with my family, I can now buy also what they want, whenever they need and want something I can give it to them because ofnthis forun.
So far that is only what I experienced as one of my best experience, I hope that there would be nicer experience that will happen soon.

The best stories in my crypto journey are when I can make money from bitcoin and altcoin. And yes, from the beginning I learn crypto, especially learning about trading, I have the chance to make a profit from various coins at the market, and I remember that in 2017-2018 was the best stories ever for me to make big money. I want to repeat that moment in the next halving because I think that moment will come again to us and help us to make big money like before.

Lol I can remember that I was really interested in Bitcoin mining when I was still a newbie, because I heard stories that you're going to make a lot of money from mining.

But, back then I didn't have enough, so I couldn't afford the equipment that is needed to set up my mining computer. I had to forget about it, and next thing I started getting interested in cloud mining, but I never tried that one, when I was ready to start investing, someone told me that it's no longer profitable. I had to look for other means, and I never stopped investing.

I can also remember that in 2015 (this is a long story) I was still new to Bitcoin and didn't know that it was volatile. I got a project that I was working on, and my client wanted to make payment through PayPal, but it wasn't functioning in my country then. He recommended that I get a Bitcoin wallet. Before then I have been hearing about Bitcoin, but I have not made use of it. So I installed a Xapo wallet and when I received the money, the next day it reduced. I had questioned Xapo support why they deducted my money, and they told me that they never deducted my money, rather it was due to the price fluctuation of Bitcoin.

I think many of the people in crypto have started from investment because that would be easier than other cryptoactivities such as mining, wherein it requires equipments so it would be a bit costy, bounty projects on the other hand is easier compared to mining, but you need to be familiar with this forum. Trading I believe would come after bounty projects.

I started with small investments way back 2017, then someone introduced this forum to me in order for me to know more about cryptos. It was a good thing, I learned about bounty projects and earned some coins in which I practiced trading to the coins that I have received, up until this point. I have never tried mining unlike to which OP started his crypto experience. But I have plans of doing so, as well as spreading my investments to other cryptos since i am now having trouble joining bounty campaigns due to the requirements, but that doesn't mean I would stop the method where I started with.

I heard about BTC sometime in 2012/13 but I wasn't immediately interested, I started getting more serious about the whole thing only in 2014. At that time someone posted video in which Tim Draper (American venture capital investor) saying that BTC will reach $10 000 in next 3 years. When I did a little better research into what this was about, and that it was a very intelligent man, it was clear to me that BTC was not just a passing thing.

During 2015, BTC was quite cheap (around $200 - $250) and I was buying few, then wait to price go up and sell for small profit. Now I wish I hold them, because we all know what happened in 2017. However, over the years, profit has become less important to me, and I became more interested in the fact that BTC is actually a very useful currency and store of value.

Like most people who get interested in crypto, my first steps started with faucets. With low BTC price at that time, and huge price increase over the years my claims have become very valuable. In one month with some refs it was easy to get 0.15 BTC or even more from faucets :)

Though am such that will never believe anyone without a good result, so, with some of my friends already trading cryptocurrency and doing well in real life, I was then convinced of the prospect in Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general. My first profit came from faucets and I had almost 0.6btc which I sold early to get some good feelings about Bitcoin. With little efforts put together with friends, I was able to get good skills in line with Blockchain technology and was able to get a certification with Blockchain affiliate Company. Hence, I started early more than usual and till date I have no reason look back and regret my actions of being part of this community.

My trading skills have been well developed and still developing as I crave for more knowledge. Currently, I make some good reasonable amount of money from my daily trading, even on a long-term trade I made some decent profit. Truly speaking, am a type that love investing on knowledge and not just looking for profits in detriment of my Blockchain career and well being.

He told me that he has bitcoin and a trader of it, two hours left and he just introduce about bitcoin is until I get interested to know more about it. Finally, I leaved my job and focus to understand bitcoin and sometime I spend my saving money to trade. I got the result and I was very interested into bitcoin and until now I'm very greatful to know it.

My best story about crypto experience is about Ethereum, and it's a story about getting scammed. Back in 2017, it seemed obvious to me that altcoins were going to rise a lot. But I did not have much money to spare, and zero experience at this stuff (prior to that, I only used Bitcoin), so I spend $16 on my purchase. I bought 1 Ethereum with that money and withdrew it to ethereumwallet.net or something like that. A few months later, the price skyrocketed to $300. Unfortunately, the wallet provider wasn't trustworthy and decided to pretend there was a hack, effectively stealing our money. However, as they wanted to seem trustworthy for a while, they offered reimbursements of 40% to those who lost their money. I was one of them, and so I got 0.4 ETH back. Then they stopped pretending, closed everything and disappeared, but I still got more than $100 out of a $16 investment. I sold it and was quite happy in the end, even though I got scammed.

As I have seen the posts of other, I see how cryptocurrency changed lives. I am also one of the lucky people to have profits in cryptocurrency but not bigger than others. However, I want to tell my best story as contradicted to others. I have 2 years in cryptocurrency and I joined different campaigns. Only few gave me a satisfactory payments. My first work was sig and moderation. Almost my entire energy had been gone because of that campaign. I had worked for almost 7 months or nearly a year yet, I got zero. However, instead of losing hope. I work and work hard. And I got a campaign lasted for a month and gave me $2500.

Why do I said that? Because the best story in cryptocurrency is not about our wins for every campaigns and investments but the lessons we earned for our failures. We have to experience mistakes and unfortunes so that our success has a soul.

Some months ago, 2019 I started to trade bitcoin. My first trade was awful and I lost so much. I started to regret and asked myself why I started using cryptocurrencies in first place. I said to myself that if I did not use bitcoin I will not trade. Later, I stopped trading. But, not quite long after I stopped trading, I read about swing trade, it was nothing serious to me because I was so impatient, but I just said to myself that ' I should try'. I tried it in December last year with $500. I divided it into three and invested it on bitcoin, bitcoin cash and dash. Now, I am so happy, I learn about this long term trade and it pays me. I have gain more than $1500 since the beginning of this year to now. I gained back my losses and still gaining more.

I entered the Crypto currency In 2016, I first worked on various Ptc sites to earn Bitcoin, but working on between 10-15t Ptc sites simultaneously did not come with my mobile WiFi bill, and then realized that Most of the PTc sites are fake, then I went to the revenue share site but after working for a few days on these sites, I see that the sites are scammed. At that time, I did not give up hope, because I had a promise that I would earn through online, then started investing in Crypto Currency, holding Bitcoin, as well as trading various Altacoin, now Alhamdulillah is getting better.

The wallets I don't use anymore I put them in the dummy folder. One day I was checking my old wallets, I was just checking, I didn't expect anything. When I was checking a wallet which is used until 2014, after 2014 it's no longer has been used, Suddenly I got a lot of tokens in one of my eth wallets, I don't know how the tokens came in my wallet, I didn't think I had worked on any bounty or there was no ETH in holding that would give me Airdrop. then where tokens came from!! By the way I sold the tokens and got around $400+. Since I got that money in a sudden way, that’s why I spent it all in a different way. With that money I organized a party with my friends and had a lot of fun.

I will never forget this event.

My first encounter with cryptocurrency was back in 2016 can't really remember the actual month. I started in cloud mining because back then i was still naive and thought that this platforms are legit. But it only resulted to money getting scammed but i didn't get discourage until i found out about this forum and many different ways to earn. So that's where i started cryptocurrency as a source of my income. It's significant for me, because i was really unemployed back then.

I started in crypto a little over 2012 when I was a fresh graduate in college. I just had my first job and was skeptical in crypto since this is something new and was wondering how people can earn via online. From the beginning, I knew that crypto is undervalued and the demand on it will explode in a few years, however, I was not financially capable during that time which is why I missed out on buying crypto really cheap. I went back to crypto just before the last bull-run and this time I was able to earn decent amount of money not just thru investing but also bounty hunting. I have learned a lot of lessons either in a good or heart breaking way and I am still in progress in learning in regarda to cryto.

My journey in crypto space started year 2015. That time facebook investment is popular and they use bitcoin to pay in and pay out so it requires a btc wallet in order to join.

But as time passes that investment turn to scam, the one who started it runaway with the money of the investors. Then my friend introduce bitcoin to me not just as digital currency that can use to receive and send money but as investment as well.

He teach me how to earn in crypto particularly in trading, its not smooth but eventually I learned in my experiences.

I entered this forum Mid of 2017 but already knew Bitcoin years back though i am not convinced about the potential of this currency.
Not until the Halving effect the market and starts to grow Higher and higher thats why this time i decided to start investing with my little capital and added more as the last quarter approaching so luckily?i made good return before the year ends.
simple story but very memorable because this is also the first time that i invested in Online and thanks it wasnt that Bad afterall.

yeah, in my opinion, bitcoin is impressive. when I knew him, I became independent, and the best story might start in 2017, getting to know ICO, and supporting some of them made me make quite a lot of money. I think to become an entrepreneur when I know bitcoin.

That doesn't make it a bad experience if you use it for learning though. In fact, for some people, buying high and then learning to keep it and hold it for a long time, years even, can teach them to be patient, and learn about the cycles or crypto. I'm talking about bitcoin only of course, but who knows, one day it is the same for altcoins?

Mine story was from 2017 when the price of Bitcoin was on a growing momentum, this was done by a friend who actually introduced me into the world of cryptocurrency. My very first experience was bounty campaign were I got some huge payment in their tokens and later helped to sell. It was after a friend sold for me that makes me realized how profitable cryptocurrency is. During the time of sold, the worth of the tokens in dollar was $1200 and this was a miraculous money which I used for my first project. Life was good then compare to now.

One of the stories of my life into the world of cryptocurrency is just inspired by a friend because before I just ignore the use of the cryptocurrency and after the time he back on me and introduce again himself and he is already earning almost $20 per day and by that, I get now introduce to the world of crypto because I want to make earnings too like him and now he teaches me all the things I need and also what are the ways I need to make more income and now I'm earning the same with him and both of us now are making some projects to promote to the crypto more efficient.

My story began on that year, when I was new here I was very interested on joining campaigns coz I've seen the spreadsheet of one of the campaign I have read from one of my social media account.
The minimum rank required that time is member, so I posted and contribute to the community first before being eligible and join campaigns. Everything was hell great back then, even member can really earn as good as what the hero or legendary is earning with bounty campaign now.

This is purely how HYIP operates. People that join the scheme early may get back their money and profit while those that join lately lose everything. I think it is about the tactics those scammers use. They also have the target in term of money they wanna make so they keep on paying people until they make their own target and immediately shut down the deal.

We all wish man, but I doubt the same euphoric moment would happen again, if ever. The 2017 bullrun was only because crypto suddenly became the new kid on the block. Now almost every industry is aware of it.

we Need real investors for Bitcoin to circulate and not just being Hold by whales and Pumped when they wanna bag money and dump after the bagging.

The use of bitcoin must be adopted also ,we need companies to support the use of This cryptocurrency and the government support as well without interfering and not banning.

These parameters must be done first before we finally experienced another Bullrun but this time this is for readl and not just manipulated and constructed .

Hello everybody. This is the funniest and most instructive topic I've read in the last few months. Guys, this topic should be put on the top and recommended to all new users who have just joined this endless world of cryptocurrencies, because personal stories are much better than any empty ones and accusations or praises. There are some friends and cousins that Investing in this market in 2015 but i always deny them approaching me to try investing
even small amount because those days i have many obligation in life and i cannot afford
losing money as my family is struggling in many matters in regards to living financially.i remember almost everyday my cousin and
friend are coming to my house when they knew i have arrived from work and continue
telling me about what bitcoin and what help can bring me in future but of course they are failure asking me.months passed and
then one time a friend of mine Got lucky in joining Bounty and Gather at least almost
$20,000 as payment being Hunter.since then i start putting small money in Bitcoin and
also starts creating account and join bounties and thats the story of bitterness and hoping that if only we can bring back time?i
am sure i will at least go back to those days.

thats us people regreting when its too late already but its also our fault on why we got a bad result because we dont care for that thing on the past when we have the time . investing or joining on bounties doesnt require a lot of time so dont tell me that your busy with something or have any other problems because if your willing you can always allocate some time with it . now people are complaining about bounties on how bad they are but same thing can happen on the past which value of the coin can increase , so why not take this oppurtunity

I have had several experiences, and I can remember trying to get into Bitcoin mining. Then I was still about to get myself a new computer because the old one had some issues I wasn't going to fix. After like a few months I saved up some money and got myself a new comp and my next target was getting a miner. And while I was still on that, my friend who was a miner then told me not to bother and look for something else to focus on, and that mining was no longer profitable on our side. I didn't want to take any risk, so I decided to leave it and focus on something else, which did work for me.

After that I started focusing on freelancing which worked somehow to gather and save bitcoins in significant levels.
