Title: Investing in cryptocurrency but which altcoins is good for long term holding?
Post by: sukbir on May 29, 2020, 04:38:02 AM
Hi Guys i am planning to buy Bitcoin and few altcoins for long term holding. I want to hold at least two altcoins from my list. Can you guys suggest me it is safe to buy below altcoin for long term holding? Which Altcoin is your favourite and currently holding??

My Altcoins list: Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin, Zcash, Dash and Monero

if you want to be successful you should learn to make your own analysis and decide how to invest instead of asking others.
my strategy is to never "invest" in any altcoin for long term because i have no faith in future of any of them. and so far we have seen i am right.

Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Dash
these are centralized altcoins that are shady and mutable. i won't go near these apart from day trading and only during their pumps.

Litecoin, Zcash, Monero
these 3 may be better, but again i don't like the long term outcome of any altcoin. LTC is a copy of bitcoin and ZCash is doing a poorer version of what Monero does.

I don't suggest holding altcoins for the long-term at all. If anything, altcoins for me are just great short-mid term trading opportunities. It's easy to assume that most altcoins will be obsolete sometime in the future though.

Especially the ones on your list, probably only Monero in my opinion has the chance of surviving in the future(but it doesn't automatically make it a good investment), assuming that Bitcoin's privacy doesn't get that much better. The rest? Total crap. I'm actually really interested in why you actually chose those six.

That would make a great portfolio for a long term investment. Though Bitcoin would be a safer bet, it has no room enough to increase in price at least in this circumstances. The transaction fees and scalability would restrict it below 20K while other coins as are cheaper as well popular with their own use and with smaller fees and better scalability for current volume could increase upto 10 folds in price.

I think altcoin should only be a short-term investment, and you should consider selling when you have made enough profit. I am afraid of investing in altcoins because these coins are very risky, and if not careful, you will easily lose money.

Of course, if the altcoin season comes back, then I will tend to invest in altcoin because the altcoin season will bring huge profits for investors if there is a reasonable investment strategy.

Most of your list is good to be choose for long term holding. Especially ETH and Dash, you may need to split your fund for both altcoins.

Although it is depend on your fund, I'll be prefer to choose one investment but I have at least one coin in the amount. I mean I'll be prefer to buy one bitcoin and forget to choose altcoin comparing I buy 0.1 or 0.2 bitcoin and I choose altcoin.

That is my strategy, you are free to choose as you want as long as you have your own analyst, yeah that is the important thing rather you ask some suggestion to reveal some good altcoins.

Dont trust bitcoin cash their CEO is a dick and their platform totally advocate being centralized which is the reverse goal for Satoshi bitcoin. From your list, maybe I go for ethereum not because its the rank 2 but its the original smart contract platform and has a lot of affiliation on crypto space. Maybe some here are too rigid and close minded when it comes to altcoin but what do they know? They just simply saying lots of things as if they are genius in blockchain.

Investors are not stupid for investing on top altcoins if they gotta fall later on. There is a possibility but everything on crypto has risk too even bitcoin itself.

It is better to buy bitcoin for long term holding because you will see the altcoin will increase and decrease, and sometimes you can panic to see the price go down deeper. Although bitcoin price can go down, the price will go down and back to the last higher price so maybe you can back to make a profit again because sometimes, when bitcoin increase, the price will be more than the last high price.
But if you still want to buy the altcoin, I suggest you buy ethereum, litecoin, bitcoin cash. For dash and monero, hm I am not sure you can try it to buy some amount.

'Ethereum and litecoin could be better mid term investment and you can also add BNB into it, Monero could be a potential altcoin but there are some risks on holding it since the prices are not too much appreciable in the recent past months.

The first one that you must buy is bitcoin, then another altcoins are litecoin and ethereum. Both ltc and eth already hit the bottom price in last 2 years. I think those alts are good assets for long term hold. Or if you want hold an exchange coin, go for BNB for sure.

Your portfolio is really good, but don't choose too many altcoins because it can make it harder to manage. I think holding only three coins is enough and have a reasonable investment strategy, and you absolutely can earn high profits. However, it would be best if you also took time to analyze this market because the volatility of the crypto market is difficult to predict and often makes investors panic.

Bitcoin Cash: Good community backing and they are more like paid developers than volunteers. Backed by Chinese crypto companies. They get's the world done. Good potential.

Ethereum: Leader in utility token and no real competition till date. Move towards POS would limit it's supply increasing price. Good potential.

Litecoin: Left by initial developer and fragmented community. No future.

Zcash: One of the good privacy centric coins. They do more and make noise less.

Dash: The best masternode privacy focused coin. Don't forget to stake.

Monero: The king of cryptonight.

I don't usually invest in altcoins for long term holding because some of them only become undervalued in the future. I prefer to focus in bitcoin because i think i'm secured with it. But given those altcoins, i think there are more potentials for ethereum and litecoin to grow in the future. Just make a research too so you won't be mislead.

Tell us why you have chosen Litecoin or Bitcoin Cash? Everytime I tell people, personally, ask yourself why would you buy these coins in the future? Do they offer something new, something revolutionary? No. Does Ethereum offer something new? Yes. So here is the question for your answer.

I would go for ethereum and bitcoin only for long term,  I invested with this coins for a long now. It is the best time to buy this coin the price is very low not like 2017 or 2018. The Ethreum price increases when bitcoin price increase.
I suggest you to do some research first before investing with other coins.

Well what you said is true that altcoin is better utilized in a short time to trade if it has an increase or potential either, I don't really expect full what they say like the altcoin season I think it will never be there again after seeing circumstances like this because the market has changed and investors no longer trust altcoin as a long-term investment.

Bitcoin is only one of the best coins if you have the intention to hold it for even longer.

I think saving both coin bitcoin cash and litecoin has a very good potential to get a lot of profit, even though bitcoin cash is better than litecoin but litecoin still has potential, at least if from 100% it can be 70% for bitcoin cash and 30% for litecoin , while for ethereum I still doubt its development.

Here's my list

CRO, LINK, XTZ, OMG, and CRPT. Im holding these coins and earn some money from my passive income.

I can suggest you if that's safe to buy a coin from your list consider those coins were major coins that listed in so many exchange sites and they have the biggest liquidity in the market.

Dear all thank you so much for your valuable time replying my question. I have decided to do long term investment for Bitcoin. I still regret now selling my 1.5 btc back in 2015 when price was £240 pound. I will try to make again 1.5 btc in future.

About Altcoin I will buy few of them just for short term investment.

The perfect altcoin for long term investment are Ethereum, Litecoin and Monero but you still need to invest caution.

Most of your list is good to be choose for long term holding. Especially ETH and Dash, you may need to split your fund for both altcoins.
Not most of the list are good. Dash have been accused several times, Zcash was said not to be anonymity as people think and Bitcoin Cash owner is knew as cheater and price manipulator and this may later causes dump in price of the 3 coins anytime.

I would remove bitcoin cash from that list but all the others are quite legit and good and should be profitable in the long term. The only reason why I dislike bitcoin cash is not actually economical or financial, its more ethical. It was created by some big rich miners who wanted more of our money and change bitcoin into more like a miner paradise and when they couldn't do it they ended up creating their own made up coin so they could make more profit that way instead of bitcoin.

So, the whole purpose of that coin is to make the owners more profit, not you or anyone else but the creators. Definitely you could profit as well, if you profiting helps them profiting they will do that, but if you losing means they will profit they will do that as well so I do not trust it.

Great. At least, you already decide what you did. Be careful if you use future trade because the bitcoin price will always change, and you need to control your emotion if you see the price is down. You don't have to regret what you got in 2015 because I am sure that you will recover you're lost this time. But you need to work hard to do that so you can achieve your goals in the future.

The altcoin can help you to make an additional profit in the short term, and you need to watch the market moves, so you don't miss the right time to sell your altcoin.

Your list already sounds too good but you are not mentioning about your portfolio percentage for bitcoins. Because, making it bigger as much as possible is more important because you must believe into bitcoin more than any other altcoins. I am holding 90% of my investments in bitcoins and for the est alone I am risking with altcoins. Only bitcoin will pave the path for bull markets and all altcoins will follow it. You can expect bitcoin to have 10 times growth in coming months and only after than altcoin may start their bull rally.

You may think about adding waves/grin/ada/ETN/doge/redd to your portfolio but only in less than 20% of your total investments. Please always be conscious about having 80% to 90% of your holding into bitcoins which will definitely help you to achieve your dreams for sure.

Listen to this community but take time to analyze on your own criteria and finally make your investment decisions with double checking about the potential of the coins you are going to invest with.

It is really good that you first considered Bitcoin to be in your portfolio because till date Bitcoin has proven to be the best coin to invest in and be calm with your investment unlike most altcoins. Also, looking at your list, I must say they are good and if am to select I will go for Ethereum first then Monero; this two altcoins have taken a unique stand in the crypto space thus will continue to be highly appreciated by users thus always keeping the coin valuable as it will continue to attract more attention.

not all altcoins are bad, there is no one to hold one of them even coins like xvg, bnb, xlm and many more have increased by more than 1000%, so you have to really choose the right one before storing it for a long time.

You can issue your own blockchain-based loyalty ERC20 token. List it on their exchange. Easily integrate tokens into your services. Reward your clients with tokens and give them perks in exchange. Yes, but holding Bitcoin in the long run is also no guarantee to get more profit, even though half of bitcoin has also happened, but if the demand does not increase then the price will remain the same as it is today, there is only a slight difference.

Hey, you need to understand that it not every advise provided to you here can be follow because there are some puppet or shill advertiser who's purpose was to make their altcoin know to the public and having a good concept of an altcoin doesnt make it good for long term investment.
It better you choose from long existing coin which are listed on liquidity exchange site.

I think the best in the long run is Ethereum, Ethereum prices have exceeded $600 in late 2017 or early 2018, that's my favorite altcoins
You did not follow when it hit $1000+ levels in 2018? Definitely it will again have big value in USD but I am afraid about having again same level of BTC values. I do calculate my altcoin profits only in BTC and not in fiat value because I do buy/invest altcoins only with bitcoins and not from my bank cards. So, for the people who chase profits in USD value, they can easily go up with highly reputaed coins like ethereum, litecoin and dash.

holding Bitcoin in the long run is also no guarantee to get more profit, even though half of bitcoin has also happened, but if the demand does not increase then the price will remain the same as it is today, there is only a slight difference.
It is time for bull run hence even in short run as well bitcoin will get you guaranteed profits. But you cannot expect bull run to happen immediately following the halving; definitely bull run will take some time like how markets have reacted after every halving. You cannot measure about demands with bare eyes; demand may trigger bulls but only FOMO will do making it into the sky.

It's easy to pick if you have a small amount the top 3 is good if you have more the top 5 is great and if you are investing a huge amount of money then the top 15 is the best preference, make sure that you allocate a good portion on the top 3 coins, at this current market situation avoid new coins but if a new coin catches your fancy, don't pour everything on it.

for altcoin, I recommend Ethereum because many platforms have collaborated with ETH, which currently makes ETH ranked second at the moment, but all that can not be separated from the effects of the rise and fall of Bitcoin prices, while the list of other coins that you choose, it is better to be used for day trade investments.

ICON is a good coin and it has a lot of potential like other major coins.

You should not compare the current price with ATH, it's better to create a comparison between the current price and initial price. The ath can be used only to determine how big the potential owned by ICON.

why liars ? i know there are negative impression for roger ver before but other coins do too  . what important is that this does not affect the performance of the coin  . bch is still okay to use in my opinion   .

and who is the coin creator that does not want to take or make money ? they create coins at the first place in order for them to profit too   .

Always go for Bitcoin and make Btc your priority over the altcoins. Don't be greedy about investing in altcoins and even the price of btc is still high. ETH and Monero are good investment but I'm not really fan of Bitcoin Cash so I don't recommended it. I'm holding ETH and BNB for a long time, I have no plan switching to over altcoins, I just stick to them. Some coins are just hype so don't easily invest to them.

This is what exactly my opinion as well. We should give more priority for bitcoin investments along with long-term planning. If you notice, altcoins are good only for short-term and anything planned along with long-term holding might be possible only with highly reputed few altcoins. If you plan with random altcoins for long-term, then you will burn your fingers. There are a lot of choices available to go with altcoins and honestly I'm not going to name anything here because I am always recommend to go only with bitcoin investments and that also should be for long-term holding.

After the recent halving, bitcoin is going to have very strong bull run. I'm not sure how many people are going to make use of the upcoming bull run of bitcoin but I'm seeing a lot of people are interested in investing with altcoins but honestly I'm not getting their reasons. It is individual's preferences, I agree. Still I like to recommend everyone to go with only bitcoin investments.

there is no safe investment, all have risks. but by investing money in top altcoins at least you can reduce the rate of losing a lot of money because top altcoin has a more stable price than new altcoins which 90% only pumps and dumps for the long term

But don't forget that if the top altcoin down, the price can go down deeper, and it is hard to go up again if the bitcoin price does not increase. I think he can select bitcoin for the long term holding as bitcoin will rise so high in the future, and he can make a profit from the price. But yes, I agree with you that there is no safe investment, and we need to realize that. Before we invest, the first thing that we should think is about how much money we are willing to use in the investment, so if we cannot make a profit in some time, we will not be too regret.

Ethereumhunter you are right, here we talk about top alt-coins all the time, but in a fact things can change
and alt-coins that are on top now can drop down, and some new alt-coins can replace them! People here should
be ready for changes, that happened before many times, and it will happen again.
It's why my portfolio is getting longer every month! One of my newest investments, long-term investments is
Matic! For beginning I bought 1100 Matic!

If you will decide on altcoin investment for long term be sure that you are picking only top coins on the market that have huge marketcap and many listed exchanges. This is important, a good altcoin survive due to its liquidity. Examole of it are eth, stellar, ada, neo, and bnb. These coins are really good for long term and has comprises of many market. We dont know even after some years how many altcoins will retain theit position but we must also risk something in order to win some profits. I agree to most here that, no one can beat bitcoin as a number one coin for long term and I myself devoted 70% of my funds to this, and only 30% to different altcoins that I know have potentials.

There are bunch of good altcoins in the market but make sure that you already study all of them before investing. I'm still go straight all the way to ETH, I think it good move for ETH to launch their ETH 2.0 even its delayed. I hope many people still trust them and make invest to them. I also recommend Monero and ADA. It will be good if you already invested in Btc before you turn into altcoins.

Ethereum and Monero are the best coins in your list. The rest are significantly worse, so you should only stick to these two.

When it comes to your crypto portfolio, it's extremely important to choose the right ratio between alts and Bitcoin. IMO Bitcoin should be at least 90% of your portfolio, anything lower than that is just an unnecessary risk. Bitcoin is the leader of this market and it only grows stronger as such, so you don't need to worry about alts outperforming Bitcoin by a wide margin. What you should be worried about is alts underperforming and dying, just by looking at the recent charts it's clear that they are way lower than their ATH, compared to Bitcoin which is only 50% down from it.

I have the same choice also from OP's list. LTC, there has been rumours that there is really no development going on so don't expect that it will be valuable in the future. Definitely, I will go for eth as the dev team here is visible especially Buterin. So you know, they are still improving the services of eth platform. I don't think Buterin is stopping developments on this project anytime soon.

Which project is good for long term holding? Well that's left for you to find out

The reasons why projects fails

1. Inexperienced team
2. Bad use case
3. Repetitive use case
4. Absence of the community trust

These are very important in every projects life, the foundation must be strong right from the community to the public, forget whitepaper, they are easily cloned this days, they won't proof anything, although you should abstain from plagrism whitepapers

My Altcoins list: Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin, Zcash, Dash and Monero

Your list is good, but it seems you love anonymous coins? The top altcoins in this market are good for long-term investment, their prices are difficult to collapse and if bitcoin rises, their prices will certainly increase.

Do your own research. There are many good altcoins in this market, and you can choose a few altcoins to hold. Choosing the top altcoins in this market is good for the long term, but it will not bring you too much profit.

Your portfolio looks pretty good. Personally, I don't have faith in the future of BCH and LTC, but they are recognized cryptocurrencies on the market and it is very possible that you can make a good profit on them. ETH, DASH and XMR I also have in my portfolio. In addition, I follow several other projects from the top 50 on CMC and buy/sell depending on market movements. I also invest a small amount in new or little-known, promising projects. You can make the best ROI on such investments, but it is also the easiest way to lose the whole amount. It's already a bit of a gamble. Most important: do your own research and invest only as much as you can lose.

ETN - 1% or below
ENJ - 1% or below
ETH and BTC - 98%.

Ethereum's development is under way right now and with its transition from POW to POS, that would be a huge development for it and they are trying to make the transaction fees faster. I don't hold anymore already especially altcoins because I don't feel that I will get profit from them in long run. In BTC, I don't need to explain more on it since we know already the reason why we are holding this. :D

It is one of the leading altcoins in this market, and if you invest in this altcoin, I believe you will always be profitable in the long run. If you invest in altcoins other than the top 100 coinmarketcap, there is a high risk that you will lose money and even those projects may die in the future.

Like I always believe, every portfolio should have Bitcoin before any other coin (this is my personal opinion). Therefore about your question, all these coins you highlighted are major coins, that is to say they are good for investing and holding, be it long term or short term. However, choosing just two from there, my preferences will be Ethereum and Litecoin; had it been its three altcoins, then Monero can be on the choosen side too.

For me, my best bet for you is to not invest in the long term for altcoins. Because in our day it is still uncertain whether a cryptocurrency will be strong in the future. For me, altcoins are only good for short and mid-term trading opportunities. And in my opinion future use of altcoins can also be lost and replaced. But for me, the only good ones of your choice are bitcoin and monero as they are the only ones that can grow, revolutionize, and improve services in the future. And some of those on your list are really uncertain about the future and will grow in the future.

Remember, many altcoins looks promising when they hit the market but after a year or two they start going down, down to the level of no recovery, you need to be smart, diversify your money in good coins and also know that using money you can afford to lose will give you peace of mind, don't invest with money you can't let go.

Yes, but don't just be tempted by the fresh air of Ethereum and its halving Bitcoin, because all the decisions we carry out today are inseparable from the risks that we also have to bear and this is what we should really look at and consider as fully as possible.

The question is about long term holding, and in my opinion both of these coins are unsuitable for that purpose. Ethereum is showing a lot of fatigue lately, and the developers are unable to roll out the implementation of ETH 2.0. And the ICO market is still in a suppressed state, and this negatively impact the prospects of ETH. The other coin (BNB) is an exchange token and not a real cryptocurrency. I would never trust any of the exchanges, and the same is applicable for the exchange tokens as well.

As for the news coins out there I would suggest LINK and Tezos due to the fact that they are the only coins have kept their value up even in the recent dip market, they even had their good run reaching their ATH respectively.

Bitcoin is not an altcoin, if you want to invest into something and you accept to invest into bitcoin you should do that with almost all of your money, maybe save only a small percentage of your portfolio for smaller coins but pick bitcoin over everything else. However if we are going to talk about just the altcoins that means bitcoin is out. In that case all of top 10 coins are good, even the top 20 could be good.

Do not buy equal shares of each, but dividing 100% of your money into altcoins (having 2x of that in bitcoin at the side meanwhile) I would say go as big as possible on ethereum like 30% and then drop that % into smaller parts for XRP and smaller for BCH and so forth until you have 20 different coins. That way you would have a lot of different coins but the biggest ones will have biggest portion of it.

You need to remember that the BNB is a coin from the platform where the Binance exchange means all developments depend on how the Binance platform develops, the bad thing is when this place of exchange collapses someday not know when it happens at least you should be careful when storing moving coins in the platform area of the exchange place.

I think you are quite in good base on your shortlist of Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin, Zcash, Dash and Monero. Of course from your shortlist, Ethereum and Litecoin is very good and strong base than the others. Ethereum because they introduce Ethereum 2.0 which moves from proof of work to proof of stake, lot of hypes and hopes around Ethereum 2.0. Litecoin, on the other hand, had a good track record when there is an uptrend of altcoins.

I think the best in the long run is Ethereum, Ethereum prices have exceeded $600 in late 2017 or early 2018, that's my favorite altcoins
Ethereum is great at using smart contracts and Fascinating new projects are being built on Ethereum. It’s okay at being a payment system too, but it does not have the brand awareness and immutability of Bitcoin. This is why Ethereum is a good investment if you’re interested in investing in cryptocurrencies .

for altcoin, I recommend Ethereum because many platforms have collaborated with ETH, which currently makes ETH ranked second at the moment, but all that can not be separated from the effects of the rise and fall of Bitcoin prices, while the list of other coins that you choose, it is better to be used for day trade investments.
Ethereum is the second most popular crypotocurrency in the world which many respect. The value of ETH directly related to its demand of consumers. The more people want to buy ETH  the higher it's market price. ETH is popular which means there are no serious reason to fear the collapse. The price of Ethereum rises and falls every day.If you want to invest in Ethereum, you have to be prepared for it.

In BTC, I don't need to explain more on it since we know already the reason why we are holding this. :D
It thus sounds like you know what you are doing, why ETN if I may ask? Many people thinks ETN is a shit coin like many other cryptonight Algorithm coins but in few more years ETN will prove many wrong, I choose coins because of their usefulness, ETN is expanding on that presently

This is a question you need to find answers to yourself, no one will give you the right answers but only different suggestions, you already have top altcoins like ETH, LTC , Zcash etc so you know what's good and what's bad, do your own research and make your choice, I can drop the names of altcoins I'm holding too if that will help

1. Eth
2. BNB
3. ETN
4. ESH
5. KCS
6. VEIL

To make long-term investments safe and profitable, you need to conduct careful research. In addition, you need to choose the top altcoins to limit the risk of altcoins may die in the future. This market has a lot of altcoins but now most of them are dead and no longer active

I am interested in VEIL. Did a little bit of research on this coin and almost a year ago, I invested a small amount in to it (around $100). But the big problem with VEIL is it's storage. It requires a lot of bandwidth and disk space. I grew frustrated after a few weeks and uninstalled the wallet form my laptop. They need to come up with a Lite wallet or a mini wallet.

Very true, if we are wrong in making steps for long-term investment, then we will clearly feel regret in the future, so in terms of investment it is clearly very necessary to consider our choices at this time in order to benefit in the future.

Bitcoin and ETH will surely make you a long-term profit, and when investing in these two projects, you will not need to fear because it will never die. And other altcoins are at higher risk, depending on your research

I think you have to invest in bitcoin along with ethereum and BNB. If you made an investment in these coins you would probably make enough profit within a very limited period of time. Also if you hold these coins for a longer period then you would definitely get some good rewards.

I don't like holding altcoins for a very long time anymore, this was my dream in the past, hoping that altcoin season will come again but now I have a feeling that what happened in 2017 won't repeat itself until maybe regulations get approved in crypto space, I'm fine with Bitcoin and Ethereum only

If you want to invest in altcoins and hold them for 2-3 years, then ETH will be the best option for you. Also you can choose a few other altcoins like XLM, ADA, NEO ... It is also one of the leading altcoins in this market and you should buy them.

Ethereum works fine for me because it has been paired or had the platform used to several coins. Though many of this coins were considered as shitcoins however, some of it add the value of eth when traded. ETH also has high volatility to which it could also be good in trading. However, trading is not advisable for the begginners and others had take also advantage by creating bots that will trade for them. Sounds good but not all the times bots are successful in trading for it means also some losses depending on the market of cryptocurrency. Better to hold than to trade.

If you can only spare the two altcoins in that list then just ethereum and litecoin. You can't never goes wrong with ethereum while litecoin is the most stable altcoin in a hard time or market tumbling.

Bitcoin along with ETH should be have a good portion of your portfolio. Along with this you can also invest in some other altcoins may be like NEO, LINK as well. Though one can choose their favourite coins which could be better for them as it involves risk in future holding and not everyone will be able to take it. So, invest only a small portion in risky altcoins so that one even if loses do not lose much amount as market can fall sharply as well. But if one continues holding good crypto will make money in future.

In my opinion it's better to invest in Stablecoin, where prices tend not to fluctuate high and choose Stablecoin which has a large community. It seems you need to go deeper into information for a long investment in cryptocurrency that has the characteristic fluctuations. As I wrote at the beginning that stablecoin is the right characteristics for the investment you will make, or you also invest in dogecoin which in my opinion is more appropriate.

Stablecoin is less worth it because if you invest here it means you are only securing fund so it does not fall badly, even for the long term this is something that is useless but good for people who want to secure assets, dogecoin is also lacking I know a few week ago the price was pumped in a short time it's just that the dump happened also in a short time and if not careful there it's very risky, I think it's better to invest in DeFi or Dapps Token because this could be a long-term investment and the opportunity is more promising.

in the long run, etherum is still the best choice and it has been proven that etherum can increase many times over the previous year before the market falls. for the main choice, bitcoin is the right choice. indeed there are still many altcoins, let alone some threads discussing about hot coins such as doge, xrp, or cardano. but still, the best choice is etherum.

Nothing last forever. you should be responsible for your investment outcome. whether successful or unsuccessful. try check out the top cryptocurrencies on the coinmarketcap and gice them a trial. Not for a long term but short. you might make something out of it. it's your choice but use your sense and never go long term. Hardly these days do altcoin survive long term. the current raise in DEFI was unexpected.

I Agree with all the currencies you posted but please take out BitcoinCash because that is stupid idea for holding long term.
It has not even consider as crypto because that is a shit bitcoin scam.
Bitcoin, Ethereum and other top altcoins. I heard ChainLink (https://www.worldcoinindex.com/coin/chainlink) is a favourite, but since the price increased a lot I am not sure if now is the right moment to invest in Chainlink.
Chainlink is doing great now but the problem is if this is legit growth or trap?

remember that we have been in this same situation for many times and in the end?it turns out to be a trap from manipulator.

Storing any cryptocurrency, including bitcoin, does not guarantee that your capital will increase over time. It is necessary to regularly monitor price changes in the cryptocurrency market in order to sell or buy cryptocurrency on time. But if you don't have time to do this, then the best solution should be bitcoin.

I would suggest a crypto that could be stake so you could earn while holding it but only choose the crypto that are on the top list like Dash.

but who knows, each of us has the right to believe in coins we choose for long-term holding. And every list is good list if you have

Bitcoin is really for hodling coin. If you cannot afford to watch all of your assets everyday, this is the best coin to hodl. In fact, even you are a day trader, you should always have this because anytime, it may fluctuate. Unlike with altcoins, sometimes it goes up fastly because of the news and there are times that it moves down. In my opinion, if you want to trade you should be a full time trader so that you can watch out your coins anytime. In fact, trading is more profitable than a stable job.

A trader will definitely have time to check coins at any time because that is what they are looking for to see better movements, traders will always monitor on the sidelines, therefore daily traders will definitely spend time watching the movements of the coins or altcoins that they are looking for in its benefits.

If you stick to bitcoin then you don't need to just wait for a big pump or news that can cause a volatile market then you need to look and consider selling or buying.

I would say that the best ones right now in my portfolio has been bitcoin, ethereum, cardano, binance, eos and tezos.
These are the ones that I prefer myself and I like it very much as well.

Obviously that doesn't mean that they are the only ones, for example I even have wave as well but I didn't list it, why?

Because I wasn't sure about suggesting it and didn't write there, that means even if I personally myself have coins that I do invest but do not suggest, there are tens of coins that could be suggested and I wouldn't really have anything against them neither, so at the end of the day that is just my list.

I can't guarantee any money at all to people who invest into my list, I personally made good amount of money from them and lost some of that back as well, overall in profit probably.

Monero and other privacy coins is kinda unstable right now about how the government trying many ways to trace the blockchain and how it could impact in the long run by the government making an action into making the exchanges delisting all these privacy coins which in turn also means that it closed that coin from the opportunity of a wider captialization, ETH still the best choice I guess but BTC more preferable.

While investing in altcoins, you should be aware of the regulatory hurdles as well. XRP is now worthless because of the SEC ruling that it should be considered as a security. Many of the anonymous coins such as Monero and Dash are getting delisted from the majority of the exchanges, due to regulatory pressure. So before making your investment, you need to see how much risk is there for something similar happening with your coin.

It just feels like most times, it is good to just stick to few altcoins for long term and others for just short term, when I say short term I refer to Ethereum or Litecoin and when I say short term I refer to the whole lot in the crypto space. Now looking at a case scenario, XRP is facing a serious issue with SEC which no one knows what the outcome will be and on the other hand, many privacy coins are facing delisting from exchanges thus making their future somewhat uncertain. So to be sincere, if you want to consider holding for long term, then stick to Ethereum, at least to a great extent it has proven to be a decentralized and transparent platform. If you want to go for more, then take a look at Litecoin as well.

Before investing, you must consider the risks that will occur in the future, especially if you say you want to invest for the long term. As we have seen, entering the year 2021 we are surprised by two big news that hit the top coins, the first was the RIPPLE which experienced a very significant price decline, the second happened to DASH, ZEC and XMR to be removed on the bittrex exchange. It looks like a lawsuit from the SEC will partially destroy the crypto industry, So you need to do some deep research before investing.

Based on past price developments until now, I prefer Bitcoin and Ethereum. Indeed, at the beginning of 2018 to 2019 the price was disappointing. but if you want to be patient until now you will definitely have made a big profit.  Sorry my friend i cant suggest altcoin for your longterm plan.
