Title: Why am i still a JR. Member? :s
Post by: Magaddinohf on June 10, 2020, 03:24:49 PM
According to this chart i'm way passed JR. Member, even almost a Full member already.
Why doesn't it change for me, is my account bugged? does this happen often?

The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Rough summary of what this means: If you post once per day on average, then you will eventually get the maximum number of activity points that you can get. Posting more than once per day on average is useless for increasing activity. The maximum number of activity points you can get is 1 per day, but your activity score only updates every two weeks. Therefore, it will take about 100 days to get 100 activity if you post once per day on average.

Activity is updated every hour.

The new membergroup limits work like this: (Edit: Obsolete, do not use)
GroupRequirement
Brand New0 posts
Newbie(none)
Jr. Memberactivity: 30
Memberactivity: 60
Full Memberactivity: 120
Sr. Memberactivity: 240
Hero Memberactivity: 480
Legendaryoccurs randomly between 775 and 1030 activity

I'm not 100% sure that the membergroups work correctly. Tell me if you see any bugs.

Because you only have 5 merit so far, and in order to become Member you need 10.

How much merit do you need for a Full member then? Why isn't this shown anywhere it's a bit confusing tbh compared to how other forums do their rankings.

Is there maybe an official page where all requirements and rewards are presented?

No problem, just make sure you create a high quality contents and on point reply to get higher chance of getting merit.

Why isn't this shown anywhere it's a bit confusing tbh compared to how other forums do their rankings.
I could swear all of this info was listed in the same place ever since the merit system was implemented--but it's not as though I've been paying attention to it.

Anyway, OP, it is true that you still lack the merits to rank up past Jr. Member, and it only gets harder from there.  This is why most new members don't often rank up past Member to Full Member in a reasonable amount of time, and my guess is that a lot of them just give up or purchase a higher-ranked account (and I don't recommend that).

You earned a few merits already, so maybe it won't be as tough for you--good luck in any case.

Yeah when i noticed how much merit is required i kinda gave up aswell tbh, will ofcourse continue here as before but i definitely won't be focussed on obtaining higher ranks or anything like that, if i do rank up that would be great tho ofcourse.

yes, you can check other members' posts in meta or in your local area, how do they get it all (Merit).

I'm sure you can do it all, if you have the desire to know about this Forum, Bitcoin etc., and increase the knowledge you have in this forum, naturally Merit and your ranking will go up.
Good luck, continue to do something useful / good, for members here.
Don't give up before doing something....!

Magaddinohf doesn't look like a total spammer, so I can Merit (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5252932.msg54551109#msg54551109) his posts.
I have some suggestions though:
  • Don't remove the content of your posts (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5211410.msg53401087#msg53401087) (also here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5204582.msg53181965#msg53181965)) when you're done with it. That makes the forum less useful. And don't forget to lock (bottom left) a thread when you "abandon" it (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5204582.msg53181965#msg53181965).
  • Follow the forum rules. There are general rules (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0) and board specific rules (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=39621.0). It's not allowed to open (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5214675.msg53512855#msg53512855) more than one (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5252932.msg54551109#msg54551109) thread on the Gambling board.
  • Check your links before or after posting. The link to your old thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5252932.msg54551109#msg54551109) links to the same thread you've posted it in.

Sorry, but I want to ask. Why did he lose the amount of merit he received after his post was deleted? It is strange, I've seen a few guys with posts that have been deleted, but it was merited and it is still there, in his merit history. Why did it go away with this guy? What is the difference between deleted posts?  ::)

The forum's Merit history only shows the past 120 days. This was longer ago.

but it the OP only have 11 merits but according to your previous post, the OP should have 13 merits in total

EDIT: Nevermind. I thought the number inside the parenthesis is the amount of the merit received.

Ahaa, my bad, I miscalculated, he received the certificates from January, now June, 120 days have passed. Sometimes I am silly, I forget that we have passed half of 2020. Normally I would have a different job right now, but because of the epidemic, things were late and now I'm stuck with my work of the previous period, which made me messed up with the times  ::)

How did you calculate it to be 13? 11 is correct

Yeah when i noticed how much merit is required i kinda gave up aswell tbh, will ofcourse continue here as before but i definitely won't be focussed on obtaining higher ranks or anything like that, if i do rank up that would be great tho ofcourse.
Great! Don't stress yourself too much about ranking up. Just continue what you are doing and I'm sure receiving merits will come along your way. The important thing is you are learning new stuffs here — those knowledge you acquired are more worthy than anything else. Good luck to your journey, don't forget to have fun while staying here as well :).

As like what others replies say, it is because you only have 5 merits, you have to reach 10 merits first do you can achieve member rank, but make sure that you have 60 activities first, it's not a problem to you because you already have 100+ activities, but look you are already a member rank, LoyceV has given you 6 merits as of this day, congratulations, you already achieved the full member, you have to work more and gain experience first so you would achieve the next rank level.
 ;D

Well said, our first intention why we are here is to gain knowledge and not to level up, this forum is great for having a discussion about cryptocurrency and blockchain, better to prioritize the knowledge that you have acquired before anything else.

It's because you already have five merits a few moments ago and because of your post on gambling LoyceV has already given you 6 merits which is good to make a rank up into member rank which is you already comply the required activities even you already get the rank you want but still you need to complete and wait for the activity to get it. Also if you want to reach over full member it requires having 120 activities and 100 merits but if you are a good content creator there is a chance that you will rank up as soon as possible just enjoy here and don't get carried away because of those merits it's part of the system if you deserve to get this they will be given it to you.

The ranking is not a race here but still, it matters because it reflects for any contributions you give to the forum which is good just continue sharing a lot of knowledge and help other members to rank up immediately without any hesitation.

You saw the old rules for ranking in this forum. But now merit is the most important to rank up your account.Minimun 10 merits are required to rank up with 60 activity.

Well, you made a good point. Merit for us is the same as Medal of Honor for soldiers — the more you have, the better you are. It represents how experienced and intelligent you are indeed. However, I just want to give emphasis that having no or at least only few merits doesn't mean that you're not making contributions at all. Actually, your existence here matters a lot already (given that you are not a sh*tposter or any kind of violator here) because each one of us here serve as a building block of this community.

So for those lower ranked members who are now losing hope, chin up! You can improve, you can be a blessing to anyone :).
