EDIT - I replaced the screen shot with a run that was free from hub issues. That particular hub could not run efficiently with 4 miners and the miners themselves were not tuned individually.
This shot now shows miners I pulled randomly out of a box, tuned each one and let run overnight. Let us know if you have any questions.
I am also testing these on ASICMINER's 49 port hub to see what we can get out of that. Should be interesting.

Having fun goofing with a 49 port ASICMINER hub. Got them up to 52 bits but afraid to go any higher.
Will reset the display and see what it looks like tomorrow. Might try to break 80 though first. :o :o

49 port hub - I staggered 18 across the holes. When I try to put in the 19th it installs with an error. So I'm not sure if that is because the USB port on the pc is maxed or the hub is. I am thinking the pc.

I have used an old Anchor hub and a Juiced hub, but any powered hub will work. The more amps, the more you can run at greater speeds. They will run on 2.0 hubs, but if you are acquiring new I recommend the 3.0 hubs since they typically have more power.

You might be able to salvage the RasPI option - there are plenty of (powered!) USB2 hubs that can do the job.

I have 3 of klintay's 19 port hubs ,

I can run 16x 1 chip nano ice furies on each of them at freq 54 .

I get about 2.5-2.6 a stick. I am philipma1957's second account

I don't have access to it on this pc.

From personal experience I know you can populate all ports with NF1 and they will be stable.

I ordered one on Saturday morning. It shipped Saturday afternoon. It arrived here today and is mining now.

The hardest part was waiting for the raspberry pi to build a modern version of bfgminer to support the NF.

I am also eager to see support for them in cgminer but so far noone has added the code in it .. and the last time we checked with Con he indicated that he was busy with some other projects. So the best answer for now is that it will happen eventually but we don't know when.

I left this post intact but with a strike line . Swimmer63 did something nice my first sticks are lost some where in trenton nj. swimmer63 overnighted via fedex a pair to replace the lost ones at no charge. They arrived today and are hashing away. I left him a good trust and assuming they do a decent overnight test run I will order more on weds. thanks.

my gear has not arrived.
frankly I am annoyed for more then one reason.
You sent a PM asking me to check out your gear. so I did.
I buy a lot of gear on site. I wanted to try a pair.

1)Price was 78 each no price cut on it . A big order had a price cut but I was willing to pay the premium just to try 2 out.
2)I paid for it via your website on March 28 or 29. You delayed shipping until Monday the 31st.
3)You sent it first class which means you spent about 3 bucks to ship it. A small flat rate box would have been 5.25. That means tracking and free insurance.
4) You dropped price on 1 to 9 sticks to 68 bucks
5) did not tell me about the price drop or offer me a better deal.

I said I had interest in larger purchases I am a known seller on ebay of hundreds if not thousands of usb sticks for mining.

Post office came and gone with todays mail no package which means monday at best. which will be more then 10 days for an in hand item.
Why would you do this if you are looking to make sales how on earth can this help your sales?

I only hope it shows by monday. I don't understand you way of doing business. 3 usd vs 5.25 usd is what you saved by shipping it first class.

numbers are pretty good 4.4gh a stick and low error rates.

Glad they arrived Philip. You can push up the bits on those NF2's and they will hit 5 Gh/s. Just watch the error rates and give them plenty of time to adjust to the new settings. They adjust very slowly.....at least 4-5 minutes.

got them at setting 54 all the fury sticks are at 54. The 2 'ice' the 2 'nano' and your 2 bi nano.

I have pretty good results at 54 after that the furies falter on that particular hub. by that I mean the 1 chip nano and 1 chip ice fury sticks. as for your 2 chip sticks I do not know if they will go to 55 or 56 on that hub.

I will check to see if they are higher then 4.4 at the 54 setting although 4.4 is pretty good>

remember I have 3 different nano on this hub and 1 red fury along with cpuminer doing 18 gridseeds

my errors are under 1% and 4.4 hash not bad

my error each stick has 2 chips and each one was set on 53/54

not sure what I did to mix the stick with 53/54 now set at 54/54 will post new numbers later. I figure 4.6 -4.7 coming up with the new setting.

Yeah - you may be hitting the max amps for the hub. That will cause the speed to stop rising when you increase bits. Or you can get other weird effects. I usually get one miner that will max out at 600 Mh/s. Then I know I have stretched the hub too far.

i got a little more boost they now run at 4.7 each.

I am getting the following message with my NF II.

It is hashing nicely at 5.25. Is this anything to be concerned about?

BTW - Loving the NF II - Well done piece of hardware!

that's why - cgminer does not (yet) support multi-chip NanoFury devices (as mentioned on the previous page). This likely to be resolved in the coming month - some hardware will be sent towards Con within the next few days...

Unfortunately bfgminer does not work, as in it does not detect any devices, while cgminer has been working for a long time.

bfgminer.exe -d? results in 0 devices found.
cgminer finds and uses them all.

Any advice on getting bfgminer working?

No need to guess, I did write that I used Zadig in my initial post ;)

I reverted to the Windows drivers and BFGMiner can now find the nf2.
But now none of my red fury or hex fury's work (no signed drivers for win8x64), I ended up running bfgminer and cgminer at the same time.
CGMiner support would be awesome, so much easier to get devices working with cgminer than bfgminer.

interesting post!

A few clarifications though -
- most of the other devices (such as c-scape's bf1/bifury/etc) communicate via a virtual COM (serial) port. Those usually require drivers.
- NanoFury via bfgminer uses Windows' built-in HID drivers (hidusb.sys) - and since those come from Microsoft all is good with them and they are properly signed.
- cgminer uses its own version of the HID driver (Zadig). So in order to use cgminer you have to trick Windows to replace the driver for a particular device with Zadig's. If you want to reverse that you need to "roll back driver". Sometimes uninstalling the device will not work as Windows already "knows better" and if it sees the same device will assign again the "last known good" driver - e.g. Zadig's.

Understood, I just meant that in my order of preference:
1) Devices identifies itself a standard HID device and Windows (and Linux and Mac) has built-in drivers. (Nano Fury II Thumbs Up)
2) Hardware vendor provides WHQL signed drivers for device for all platforms.
3) Zadig can be used to automatically install WinUSB/LibUSB drivers for device.
4) I have to sign the driver myself.

I hate to be pedantic but this is not quite true.

The device talks USB while HID is a driver designed for user interface devices like keyboards and mice, so when using software that uses this driver, it goes device -> usb -> hid driver -> software. Zadig is not actually a driver; it's a utility to tell windows to remove the driver and use the microsoft direct usb communication protocol (effectively a Microsoft driver called WinUSB). So while WinUSB appears to be a "driver" it's actually telling windows to just give the raw usb data to the software. So software that uses WinUSB (like cgminer which uses it for every single USB device) is talking directly to the usb device, bypassing the need for any driver, so it is going device -> usb -> cgminer.

Having said that, we don't have support for 2+ chip nanofury based devices, but VS3 is kindly sending me some devices to add support to cgminer, thanks!

I just ordered 2 of these Nano Fury IIs, and I got them yesterday. I plugged the first one into my computer and opened bfgminer, it was running at about 2.5 gh/s, even when I raised it to 55 bits, with <1% error rate.
Then I put the second Nano Fury into my computer and the first NF2 dropped to below 1.5 gh/s with an error rate of 4% and the second NF2 stayed at .5 gh/s with an error rate of 75%. I then went and bought a powered usb 2.0 hub and 2 usb fans and installed everything and plugged it into my computer. When i opened bfgminer it was the same results.

I would really like to buy 25 more of these NF2s and an eyeboot 49 port hub to mine more, but not if I can't even get 2 NF2s working together, let alone 1 NF2 up to 5 gh/s.

Can ANYONE please help me, I would really appreciate it. I am new to these forums, so I will leave my email for anyone to help me. Thanks :)

Then when the second one goes in there are not enough amps for the two of them.
So - what USB hub are you using? Does it have external power or does it just plug into your computer? If it has external power what are the amps (example, 4A) listed on the power cord/converter.

I just installed the newer version of bfgminer and everything seems to be working fine. I'm using a 2A usb powered hub, so that's my problem. i will have to wait until i can order the eyeboot 49 port hub with 40A, then I will order more NF2s.

I am doing a little testing now with everything working as it should be, but chip a on one of the NF2s doesn't seem to be getting read. It just says 0.0 / 0.0 / 0.0 h/s, and when I hit the down arrow to go to chip b, it reads as normal. Does anyone know why it might not be reading something on that first chip? Is it something wrong with the NF2 itself or what? thanks

Sorry, I meant the version you linked me for 64bit is the one I downloaded. And I have interchanged the NF2 from the hub to the back of my computer and the front of my computer, everywhere i put it, with usb fan or without, it still shows 0.0 / 0.0 / 0.0 h/s for chip a of this specific NF2.

As soon as I can I will be ordering the eyeboot 40A 49 port hub, and the 24 ATX power supply, as well as 28 more Nano Fury 2s. Rushing to get it done before May ends so I can get the deal, and if it is the chip, I will return it.

MOST ( not all ) power connections at USB Hubs have center pin positive. I took one of them and desoldered the power connection and found that it's outer power on mine. I also found a ' flake ' of solder AT the pins of the USB Hub IC ( 1 to 7 hub IC after a 1 to 4 hub IC ) keeping the D+ and D- on one port shorted to each other ( no detect anything on that plug until it was cleaned, lucked out it didn't kill the IC or that port ).
I CUT the 5V line for the USB cable ON the board ( and long enough to undo if needed ) so I wouldn't power the PC from the hub.

I did a similar mod for a 7 port hub but with a wireless router power adapter as it was rated at 5V @ 2.5A DC.
Some other posts recomend signal diodes for the 5V USB cable to the modded hubs to prevent power going back in to the PC or causing issues. If you keep all grounds as ground ( no floating voltages, and ground from everything eventually hits the pc power supply ground ) everything should be ok.

I also checked the hubs' caps ( yes, there are 4 capacitors in one of my hubs ) and replaced them all for higher rating ( moved to 16V 2200 Uf from the 6v 1000 Uf ones ) and the other hub didn't have any on the power line except the ones at the Hub IC ( to clean power ). - plugging a second miner causes drop in hashes - most likely both miners are powered by the same power supply which hits its limitations and there is no enough juice to run two miners. A powered hub should take care of the issue. Note also that there are some powered hubs that have very very crappy power supplies and they kick in after your desktop power starts going way down (by which time it might be too late). There is a whole thread on which hub to use, with people sharing their experiences.

Actually they were $12 at some point ... I should've ordered more of them at that time. I've been using them for testing various quantities of NanoFury boards and so far they've been performing pretty well.

- plugging NF2s directly into the PC - this is not a good idea. When hashing at full power the NF2 will use 1.2-1.3A (and if you overclock it - even more). The standard USB2 connector can supply only 0.5A. For that reason you need to use an external powered hub (and make sure you leave enough power for each miner - e.g. of the hub comes with a 4A brick that would be enough for 3 NF2s).

- If you absolutely must plug it into the PC (or just for testing) then do not run it at full power. Underclock it to 30-35 bits. It will hash at slower speed but it will also use much less power.
You can use this approach to check that you have the correct version and that it sees all chips.

Due to a cancelled sale we have 10 Nano Fury II's available on the website. That will be it for them. We have no plans to produce more at this time.

Yup - because I have several devices that run the best at different speeds this is what I have in my bfgminer.conf file:

That way they're all at 56 bits, with the exception of those two which are at 54 bits speed. You can adapt the config file to fit your needs and add your other devices and their specific per-device settings.

The easiest way is to go to the Device [M]anagement (press M) and using the up and down arrows go through each device - it will show you also the serial numbers.
I think when you exit from bfgminer it also shows the serials in the summary screen.
