Hey all. Was digging into some crypto adoption process in the past days and just came upon this article.

Google Opens The Door To Mass Cryptocurrency Adoption

So..alongside other big-name companies, Alphabet (Google) is a major acquisition to the sphere.

Quoting; "as a result of rapidly increasing demand for cryptocurrencies among retail investors, the need for trustworthy, well-recognized fiat on-ramps that make investment both safe and simple has become a major focus point for blockchain companies looking to make their services and products more accessible. Likewise, Google has stepped in to meet this demand by now allowing crypto firms to offer Google Pay as a payment method."

Big crypto brands already with a Google Pay cooperation are Paxful, Coinbase, and Newscrypto, with the last being the first platform to offer direct cryptocurrency purchases using Google Pay for their native (NWC) token, that is on a big run recently because of it.

Just showing how working towards mass adoption will be helpful for the projects yet to come.

Its better if Google fix their system to filter scam/phishing sites and remove scam/malware app on google play first. While they announce this will get massive adoption on cryptocurrency (especially NWC token), they also make newcomers will get scammed after fall to phishing sites.

I wonder why google want to use NWC token besides BTC or ETH? Or google hate BTC and ETH  ???

I think this is great news and many projects will follow these first adoprers lead as crypto is becoming more and more mainstream. I also think that google is careful enough not to incorporate scam projects into this option, because they would lose too much credibility, if they did.

I don't think you understand the article correctly. Google will never use NWC token. I'm not sure they even using btc or eth.

They are just allowing people to buy the token through their payment getaway Google Pay (they probably get a fee from it, that's why its in their interest) and for the project they allow a easy 1 click payment options to sell their coins. Looking at NWC chart it has its benefits.

Does that mean Google will start allowing Google Pay to also be used as a method to directly sell our fiat to buy crypto inside it? Will Google turn Google Pay into half-crypto or create a new wallet where we will be able to buy crypto without any intermediary fees because of its wallet being used directly?

No they're not going to implement a wallet inside Google Pay, they will use the existing Google Pay service to allow you to purchase crypto to your exchange wallet using the money on the attached credit card.

Sounds like the middleman of "the middleman".

We are trying to escape the fees from middleman and yet they want to be one.  ;D

Obviously it is a project for their own profit.
Not a single thing even tells that it is for the ease of the people who want to use it.
I doubt this will boom in this kind of industry even with a popular name.

Do not believe all the news that you find on the Internet, most of it is incorrect, misleading or contains false information.
One of the most famous inaccuracies is not to distinguish between cryptocurrencies and Blockchain.
A lot of people believe that any adoption of blockchain means more price increases for using Bitcoin and Altcoins.

Google will not support or adopt cryptocurrency unless there is regulatory clarity about them, and therefore all the news that you currently hear is wrong.

These at the moment are probably early but good questions to ask. What I think is the highlight is that Google is now investing more time and resources into crypto and this is great for adoption.

Having such a big player on 'our side' will surely lead to many feeling the pressure leading to others joining the crypto sphere due to fear of losing out which in turn will help with building the infrastructure we need for lower fees, some regulations and faster transaction speeds.

Well, I dont believe on google when I saw ads, there are various scam phishing ads links that perhaps will harm your device after clicking. If they improved this matter I think there someone who believe on the ads they have. Instead of they are fighting towards scam, it looks like they are helping scammers to expose the trap to us. So, don't trust the google ads if you don't want to have trouble. However, if you really want to, just to make it sure you have double searching of the source of links. Indeed, this perhaps will help the crypto to have wide adoption but people will always afraid to get scam.

As an existing digital wallet and an online payment system, chances of them implementing cryptocurrency on their system is high.

Look square cash, soon VISA and paypal, and now google, these are the big institutions who wants to adopt this new normal. So let just wait others to do their first step.

I don't know how they are gonna fix this coz in some instance they even promoting a scam website lol just pay their price and they let the website to scam people. I think website screening should be done manually by the book so they could avoid promoting shitty websites designed for scamming, it won't get flagged unless a person or two gets scammed and reported that site.

I don't think they hate BTC or ETH, but it would be a lot easier if they got their own coin for a single purpose, it would be hard if they depend on separate blockchain such as BTC and ETH. Easier for them if it runs centralized.

Nah, it's just because crypto is on the headline right now because of the bull run that we are experiencing, companies like Google started this so called adoption as well. They will work as a middle man, so obviously they will make money out of us. So I'm not sure if we are going to celebrate with this news or simply ignore it.

Was actually to say the same thing but to know that these companies will surely go into things that would give out revenue or benefit to them, so it isnt really that surprising though.
We are indeed do really care about fees but to have this one wont really be that necessary unless if you are a die hard fan of theirs.

It could be as more name companies are involving themselves in crypto. And as Google says, there is demand to they step up and will try to be part of that big pie, a billion dollar market.

I just do hope that the integration will be flawless and we don't want crypto enthusiast complains about the huge fees that are going to be shoulder by us. Closer to adoption? it could be as people realised the true potential of crypto then we might see this becoming a success in the future.

This isn't really an improvement on to anything, Google Pay being a payment solution would really open its doors onto anything as long as it is legal as the more they cover everything the more they will profit from their service as their service is widely available onto various businesses. The same thing happened for Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards where you will see their availability in major exchanges since these companies don't see the "adoption" we are looking for but the earnings they will have from the crypto industry. Just don't overthink this one just like how the author of the article is assuming things.

Completely, despite the fact that we need big company to join the circuit of making crypto go mainstream I don't see any point in Google making a footpath for cryptocurrency mass adoption when they do more harm to crypto investors by not cleaning their home clean.

No Google doesn't hate BTC or ETH and the last time I checked every crypto enthusiast love BTC and ETH. However, the relationship between NWC and Google is still clear and could business hype base proposal by using Google influence since crypto investors easily fall for such hype.

There are a lot of chances that the Google will adopt the use of the digital currency because right now most of their transactions are with the Debit or credit card which is less hassle and also why not the cryptocurrency this is a good thing there are a lot of people using this coins as payment.


I never been experience this kind of platform for payment because most of the time I have some gift cards if I want to pay some with the use of Google. Looking forward to have this transactions just for experience.


Because of the other pump of the bitcoin there is a chance that many people now become more curious about the use of the bitcoin and there is a chance that they will make an investment just to the with this coin. Expect for another market movement for making an investment of a bunch of people.

They should probably fix their own problems first though, especially since most scammy extensions are in their system right now, plus let's not forget how youtube actively blocked crypto enthusiasts in the past while scam videos were still spreading. Also, I doubt much would change tbh? Hmm really though? Ignorant ones would probably join, but those hard-headed ones that basically have their own reasoning? It's not like crypto was out for only a year, various people have already pretty much studied upon it quite intensively, and investors know what they and they don't want to enter. Seeing as they aren't keen to enter even after a decade, I doubt Google joining in would make most of them move. Some might, but not the majority.

As soon as these companies (coinbase) are allowed to have physical cards that are possible to use cryptocurrencies, google would not have many reasons to refuse the physical cards of these cryptocurrency companies, but about the case of paxful I did not know it is already possible buy bitcoins on paxful through google pay, maybe i didn't know that because i haven't used paxful for over 1 year

They've seen the demand so that is an opportunity for them to get some good revenue from crypto.
I wonder what happen to their crypto coin, there was no buzz now anymore, probably it didn't pass to the regulatory requirement, or anything related?

Well, what I know is that google try to ban crypto ads, now they would like to add crypto in their platform particularly the google play, I think this is the start that good will start to admit that bitcoin is superior, either they'll go against it or adopt with it, and with this news, we won.

Of course, there will always be fees and this is where they come in.

In a way, it looks good especially to new buyers which won't have a difficult time looking for options to buy.

This is part and parcel of crypto being 'adopted', in order to achieved that, someone big, like Google to push it to the market. Of course there is institutional investors, but I guess it should come from those who early on opposes crpyto like Google. On the other hand, they will surely make a tons of profit here as third party middle which we don't like to adhere. It should be p2p, but I guess there is some kind of trade-off that's going to happen in order to achieve crypto adoption.

I agree with your suggestion. Currently there are still many fake applications with phishing websites embedded in the application. Even the phishing application can get away easily and get a lot of ratings with quite a lot of downloads. Google Play still doesn't do protection properly so fake apps can get away with it. Not only newcomers who are cheated, but people who have been in crypto for a long time can also be deceived because they think that applications from Google are legitimate and secure applications.

About the use of NWC tokens, maybe they are already partnered and google recommends it. but there should be BTC and ETH payments as alternative payments.

Yes, it is really grate to know that huge companies are getting interested in cryptocurrency. The worldwide adoption of crypto would become more significant specially nowadays that online payment are now always using by the people. We can say that there is really a good future in crypto space.

Let the people understand the real usages of crypto, it's a good start for those businesses and people who
are not into this business yet.
Time will come that this people will also learned that there's p2p where direct transactions can be done

If it's true it would really be a good news since the hassle of buying crypto with fiat will be decreased a lot.
Though google is trying to act as a middle man to buy crypto, it will be for good since once we buy the crypto we will be able to use it in our own way.
But this will also mean that Google will have our data of when and how much we use crypto.
So it will be in our hands in what method of payment to choe. Be wise and choose at your own risk.

Although like every company, Google is actually doing this project for their own profit, it is actually a good thing for cryptocurrencies.
This will lead to mass adoption of crypto as many people are only looking for a giant company such as Google to endorse crypto before they move into it.

Whenever there is newcrypto, its always going to be spam. They have nothing to do with this google pay but they manage to insert themselves even without a single strand of relevance. Its a scam coin driven by spam. You will notice that most of the posts done by its shills are often clickbait like this one.  No source link was even posted coming from google, seem a fake news.

I feel like all of this "help" to crypto is not really even a help by google, it is just another income thing from them and that is it. Think about it, bitcoin itself is not really something free, it is over 11k right now, that means with all those coinbase and all other things, I am sure google is getting a lot of downloads as well and the more downloads they have the more ads and so forth they could get, that way they could get a lot more downloads via those apps to other apps and the more it is used the more data they get and the more data they sell the more money they will get.

So, I would say google would love to have crypto and anything regarding crypto, that way they would be able to profit from it, why wouldn't they want more profit just because it is crypto related.

We had lots of similar news about acceptance and considerations towards crypto on where integrating or implying it into its service specially to those big companies that we had known.Im trying to search out further
more but i havent seen any similar info with Google.So most likely this one is just trying to shill out.

Well Paypal did exactly that, it managed to insert itself as a payment method in exchanges and they even milk large fees for themselves. Life is weird sometimes.

I would say, it is also open the door to those naive people who will be the next victim of a scam. If Google didn't filter to those who had ads to them, there are a lot of people were getting scam. Because once scam project want a cheap promotion they will choose google ads for their scam attempt.

I wouldn't trust Google on their ads, especially clicking ads. It feels like you are prone to scam if you will do that. I hope they will see this concern and fix it anytime soon.

If this will be approved, this one would be a big hit for crypto since it will be made easier for the people to access crypto transactions. But i guess this one is a fake news since a lot of false information are so rampant today. We'll just find out soon if this will be totally realized or another form of scam.

What we can do to help is report potential scam or phishing sites as there will be more of them.
Not hard to track all those scammers and having their masks on.
It is still up to the user to do his own due diligence before jumping on board.

buy cryptocurrency. Like any other company, this is done in order to profit from transaction fees. So google did this only for their
own benefit, not for mass crypto adoption. Actually what Google has done has already been done by Paypal, Mastercard and Visa.

This is so good that the crypto market is finally getting quality businesses to work with Google. That shows that blockchain technology is really essential for the future and that it is being fomo widely for technology businesses. In the future, I think not only will Google find crypto businesses, but also the big players in the technology industry such as Microsoft, Amazon, ... will cooperate with potential businesses. That is a very good sign that our market is not just manipulation.

We will see it later. If Google really wants to integrate its Google Pay, they will release an update on its website. At least, they will announce it to the public. If that is a success, it will help cryptocurrency grow and have a mass adoption from people. Right now, Google dominates the android mobile phone market, so that will be a big step to introduce cryptocurrency to the public. People will see a new feature in the payment, and they can try to buy crypto using Google Pay.

I agree that Google needs to filter the ads that will show because that will be a chance for the scammers to trick people into getting their money. As end-users, we need to be careful when we see cheap promotions and don't decide if we don't get further information because that can be an easy way to scam us.

Like others I would have said that it’s best that they put more focus in making their system better and filtering out scam and phishing websites, but then I understand that it’s not really possible for them to keep an eye on every website, because there are like millions of them.

So, it’s up to people to report bad and misleading websites, Google has provided the option to report a website or any advert you see that is misleading and suspicious, so we should play our part in ensuring the safety of other investors especially the ones that are still newbies. And lastly, it’s good to see that Google is now accepting cryptocurrency and helping to make things easier for investor.

The thread title on this thread as we can see is "Google Opens The Door To Mass Cryptocurrency Adoption"  but the shills in Op's vein just can't resist in mentioning newscrypto like they are the first to be adopted among the lists of cryptocurrencies. There hundreds more before your newscrypto, don't put all your hopes to it like its the only coin you have in your wallet that you need to shill it every page of this forum.

That's right, I think they just want to profit it out since people are more comfortable using their payment system so they take advantage of it but it doesn't mean they have an open arm in cryptocurrency. Also, they might collect data from the user who use their platform, This might be their plan since you are revealing your bitcoin wallet address and it will be stored in their databases.

It will very nice if google starting using cryptocurrency . Google is big company. More people will join and interested to using cyptocurrency.

I don't think Google opens the door to mass cryptocurrency adoption, because Google is a centralized company as opposed to crypto
which is decentralized. They are only taking advantage of the increasing popularity of cryptocurrency, by providing Google Pay to buy
crypto. And I believe to buy Cryptocurrency through Google Pay you have to do KYC first.

I have been trading for a long time .and wondering about other trading practice and habit everytime I do not follow my plan it turns out to be a very bad choice to to abandon it I have sold a few of them inteli thought I mean to hotel them for mass longer I quite working as it old only DJ panchmi most of all squared holding a lot of less so looking all the time want portfolio makes no sense it old only hand me more.

A lot of companies who in the past were against cryptocurrencies are now opening up to accept it again. There was a time when Google has some issues with cryptocurrency, and even went to the extent of taking down some videos on YouTube, which I really don’t know what that was about, but now they have accepted it. That’s just how it’s going to be for others as well, as time goes on they will all come to accept it.

Companies are now seeing the importance of blockchain and crypto currencies such as Bitcoin, and none of them want to be the last in adopting it, so there are  all rushing in now that it is still early.
