I am not that too good about cryptocurrency but I can say that bitcoin is legit and secured as long as the wallet storing it is safe and legit, bitcoin is easy to be stolen by havkers and scammers but is hard to return but this can be prevented once you are using a safe wallet.

Bitcoin itself is legit, it was made year 2009, how can you say that it is fake if until now it is atill existing, bitcoin lives for 11 years as of now and it will live longer for the future.

Yes, bitcoin is legit, so far you do not steal it, it is legit. So, the answer depends on what you think, if you think it is legit like fiat, then it is legit.

We Trust USA dollar because its Federal reserve are legit guys!!
So, that means scammers and thieves can not steal US dollar or any other fiat from you? No. Or, you mean US dollar and other fiats can not he used by scammers? No. Or, does that mean you are completely safe because you have fiat with you? No. If you think about it very well, you will realize bitcoin is legit, that thieves and scammers are the ones that are not legit but forbidden.

So is bitcoin good or not?
If fiats are used by scammers, and if scammers scam people and collect fiats from them, then is fiat legit? Governments will only be deceiving you people, but only people that have knowledge about bitcoin will know how legit bitcoin is. You do not have to depend on any person to hold your bitcoin for you, you can hold it yourself without anyone linking the funds to you, unlike fiats.

If reputation was all it took for something to be real or not, then scientists, researchers, developers wouldn't even be needed. Actors, Artists, Politicians would be the only ones you'd actually need. Please, a simple definition of Bitcoin, add that with 10 years of it's existence should be more than enough for you to understand that Bitcoin is legit and safe. I'm amazed how you have the time to post in this forum asking questions that a simple lookup could answer ing 5-10 seconds.

Also, if you were to ask what Trump's stand on Bitcoin then here you go:
Quote
“I am not a fan of Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrencies, which are not money, and whose value is highly volatile and based on thin air. Unregulated Crypto Assets can facilitate unlawful behavior, including drug trade and other illegal activity.”
A year old, just looked it up and this is what popped up. Just goes to show that even if he said something like this about Bitcoin, those in the know would not simply abide or believe by whatever he says, and only the ignorant would.

BTC is legit. As for it being secure, well that depends on how well prepared you are and where you do your transactions.

Trusting the US dollar at times like these is probably more risky than entrusting BTC and the reason for this is because the economic crises has lead to the US government like many others to print more money, plug these into the economy in the hope to temporarily make things better.

The fact that this was done by just printing more money is where the issue lies as all that newly printed money is no longer backed up by gold, as it would usually be so the value of the dollar is very low. In a way with no collateral to back up the newly printed money all these currencies are in effect no different from BTC

Bitcoin is unique.

Bitcoin is the digital gold.

Bitcoin total supply is limited at 21 million btc and many millions were lost.

Bitcoin is your bank. You can be the only boss of your bank

bitcoin is still valid because it has its own society in it, why with Trump he is only the leader in America while bitcoin is legal for all countries, so why wait for Trump to legalize it, whether or not bitcoin in your eyes is your decision, learn more about bitcoin at least you might be able to know more

There are already many other topics on the forum explaining what you asked here. But I'll repeat, Since bitcoin is not centralized and not getting controlled by any government, It's not possible to have a governmental or federal leveled negotiation to someone and announce it federally legit or not. Actually, that's a positive point of bitcoin. Otherwise, bitcoin would not be borderless and available in all other the world.

I have seen some of these questions far in time ago. Bitcoin is still here today trading and doing fine. I think some countries that try to make news about banning bitcoin are the reasons for this further question. Bitcoin is getting strong in value, use, worth and in every direction.

Good point, Seems like you are not familiar enough with bitcoin project and kinda new.
To be short and simple, bitcoin project is completely open source and transparent and all the codes and updates are available on GitHub fro beginning to end. So, anyone can check the code and make sure if it's completely safe and secure or not. Actually, that's the reason of why many people can trust it otherwise anyone could places backdoor on it and take everything.

You have been in this very forum for a year now, and have been talking about bitcoin here and there, and just now you're asking whether bitcoin is legit or not? ::)

Can any good coders check btc code and approve that btc is good!
I mean how we know Satoshi Don't have some backdoor to steal our bitcoins?

Let's add some layer of tin-foil to your hat: what if the 'good coders' are all conspiring to tell people that bitcoin is legit when in fact it isn't, and are being paid for their work to continue this on-going collaboration with all coders taking a look at bitcoin?  :D

You see, bitcoin being open-source means it's open to any and every criticisms and code reviews. For the past 10 years, no one has found a backdoor of some sort to the code. If there is one, what good would it be when most of the coins are already disseminated, and the network is already big to revert unacceptable changes if one is to happen? You also have the concept of value already pinned down to bitcoin's core. Once people noticed that some shady event is happening within the protocol, bitcoin will immediately lose its value, rendering the efforts of satoshi installing a backdoor futile.

And besides, the dude probably has over 1 million bitcoins at his disposal. Why would he need to create a backdoor for future use if he can just tap his wallets for funds?

I was about to answer this, and you beat me to it.  :P

The OP raises an important question, but it's rather silly at this point.  The bitcoin software has been freely available for anyone to read since the beginning.  Any C++ coder that has an interest in bitcoin may have probably gone through quite a bit if it (it is a fairly large piece of writing). And so far none have piped up about some "back door".  In fact many have contributed to the writing of the code.

So the point is moot at this time.

And what is the guarantee that good coders github and Satoshi not payed shills?
That type of thinking starts to get ridiculous. ... How would a disparate collection of people across the internet, that don't know each other are all working so closely together to pull off some major operation to fool millions across the world. ... Over a hundred thousand once pulled something off like that in secret to work together to build the first A-bomb, but that was a different circumstance.

It would be equivalent to suggest that all those people working together for nasa in the 1960's spent all that effort to not send people to the Moon.

I'd suggest, read through the code yourself, or watch some videos that explain the building of the bitcoin code, to then help you get a better idea of what has taken place.

Bitcoins are legal to own, nobody forbids us to own them. In legal bitcoin payments in some countries, some are not. If you're talking about legality, consider gold and any other rare metals. They are not regulated on a currency list and no one can guarantee their value but they are still valuable.
Do we only consider them legal for payment?

I believe that a considerable number of people on this forum will attest to the fact that bitcoin is legit. I think the problem here is with your definition of 'legit'. If you mean 'legit' as legal to own, the bitcoin is legit because no one or country has forbidden anyone to own bitcoin even those it might not have been adopted for payments.
The security of bitcoin is dependent on the user. The coins are completely in your control and it's your fault if they are stolen by hackers or scammers. So bitcoin is safe if you can maintain a high security profile.
Although Donald Trump's endorsement of bitcoin will go a long way in its adoption, it is not for him to decide whether or not bitcoin is legit or important

If you consider the USA dollar legit merely due to its being issued by the Fed then we need not proceed with the discussion. From that point alone, it seems we cannot meet at a common ground. You might just end up calling Bitcoin the opposite of legit merely because it is not being issued nor recognized by the Fed. And worse, merely issued by a nobody who is not even known and found in person.

It's open-source. It's our own job to decide whether it is or not, through research. If you don't want to trust other members of the forum and so many wealthy individuals and smart tech guys who've decided to invest in Bitcoin and trust it, then you could learn C++ and analyze the source code yourself.

Nowhere will you ever hear a governance praise something that is supposed to eliminate the need of governance. It's kind of a self-destruction. The Queen of England is 94 years old, do you really think she still has the capacity to study Bitcoin or understand it?

Compared to your current trust rating, Bitcoin is more legit and it will stay legit even if Donald Trump will be no longer as the President of the united states of America. So don't make a comparison between that joker to our beloved BTC. If he doesn't want to buy it, then no one would ever ask for his permission for the Bitcoin to become legit. Bitcoin will always there and it will remain number 1 in all of the crypto markets.

If Bitcoin then who??  Satoshi?
Nobody. That's the thing you don't get: there's nobody to blame, because nobody is controlling it besides math and codes. If Bitcoin ever fails as a project that's been going tremendously so far, call it natural selection - or the natural occurrence of events.

Bitcoin has a precise inflationary rate. USD's supply in circulation could be doubled, tripled or quadrupled within a day if the authorities decide to do so. I mean, the Hungarian Pengő (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hungarian_peng%C5%91) didn't go well at all thanks to inflation. You could blame Trump all day long if you will - your life would be affected anyway. This is something that will not happen to Bitcoin. Bitcoin does not have a money printing machine.

Eur and USA dollars 2 kings!!
But Bitcoin???  Well not Even close to
I'll repeat: we've been enslaved by the monetary system. I would call these two fiat currencies anything but kings. Bitcoin is our first opportunity of giving the people back the control handle.

Maybe bitcoin is hindered by a central bank, but bitcoin rises in value when it is supported by a celebrity like the US president. Bitcoin will be the place for the dollar to have more liquidity.
Bitcoin will be legalized but only happen in a few countries, I do not fully believe that Bitcoin can be used all over the world.

The question is already answered by the forum and there are already news circulating around Bitcoin. If its not legit, how come people are learning and utilizing the Blockchain Technology to use Bitcoin. Bitcoin is actually one of the best invention and it already helped a lot of people who earned it. Bitcoin's value will keep on prospering as long as there are supporters which will trigger the supply and demand situation.

We don't need someone with good and legit reputations to say bitcoin is safe, secure, and legit. We can give our opinion to ourselves about how bitcoin can work for us. If you can get the benefits from bitcoin, and you still believe that bitcoin is the way to get what you want, you can say that bitcoin is legit, and you can spread it to other people. I am sure that for people who use bitcoin and get the advantage of bitcoin, they will say that bitcoin is legit, safe, and secure. That will depend on each user who uses bitcoin, but people out there can say different things about bitcoin, but we don't have to listen to them.

I didn't imagine that after 10 years of bitcoin's existence to the market, numerous fall down and rises, staggering ATH at $20k, some would ask if bitcoin is legit or not. Talking about it's security, bitcoin was made  using cryptography that even supercomputers now can't break. You might just wonder why there are some cases where bitcoin is involve with different scams and fraud, if that's the case try to question also the fiat involvement with that since the beginning it was existed.

Can any good coders check btc code and approve that btc is good!
I mean how we know Satoshi Don't have some backdoor to steal our bitcoins?

Good point, Seems like you are not familiar enough with bitcoin project and kinda new.
To be short and simple, bitcoin project is completely open source and transparent and all the codes and updates are available on GitHub fro beginning to end. So, anyone can check the code and make sure if it's completely safe and secure or not. Actually, that's the reason of why many people can trust it otherwise anyone could places backdoor on it and take everything.

All Right perhaps donald Trump might not the right person to give approval of Bitcoin since his not a coder... Lol but who knows maybe he knows about coding
Is ethereum also with Open source?

Yes, Ethereum project is another open source, blockchain based and decentralized project.
In addition the answer provided, bitcoin is secured by military grade cryptography and also the decentralization of Bitcoin make it impossible for Satoshi or anyone have some backdoor to steal people Bitcoin if the coin wallet holder avoid human error which may expose his bitcoin holding.
Nevertheless, Bitcoin is legit and if not some government which make research about it and support it wont have.

Nothing is legit  except you tried on your own part because someone giving you hope about how good is cryptocurrency especially bitcoin you won't understand it or believe it, because I seen it as something that should be done based on practical aspects of it and the theoretical aspects of cryptocurrency. Legitimacy of anything base on my views our wash and wants towards objective, looking at it in other way I can directly assure a new user that Btc is legit.

Its time to hear if bitcoin is legit or not!!
This question should be made when Satoshi launched Bitcoin in this forum for the first time. I guess there was already the same question like this, so it is not needed to ask again, mate. You should know the answer, with all Bitcoin's achievements so far, it is very easy to say that "Bitcoin is legit". Well, although not everyone can gain profits, we must admit that there are already many people successful in Bitcoin investment or trading. If there are some to fail, it is probably about the strategy or careless way in investment/trading.

Perhaps, it is a story to tell that Bitcoin exists more than a decade, people are using it, and they find it legit.
Should we need Trump and Putin to clearly say Bitcoin is legit and not scam? I don't think that US President will do that because he is against crypto since before...

But I saw some changes in his mind...
Quote
But the mercurial Trump has also taken some decisions that may have benefited cryptocurrency after the conversation alleged by Bolton took place. The U.S. President appointed Mick Mulvaney as the White House chief of staff in October 2018. Mulvaney is pro-Bitcoin and has called BTC a currency that is “not manipulatable by any government.”

https://cointelegraph.com/news/donald-trump-told-treasury-secretary-to-go-after-bitcoin
If he could find out and realize that they can benefit from crypto, he'll surely annouce it. But I don't need to wait for him because in myself I know that Bitcoinis legit.

Well, bitcoin is legit. At least, that is what I know about bitcoin. I can make real money from bitcoin, and so far, I am still trying to make more money. I don't know what people reason to say bitcoin is not legit, but I only think that people do not benefit from bitcoin, so they say like that. But I don't want to force people to say bitcoin is legit because that will depend on bitcoin's perspective. It is up to them to judge bitcoin because they use bitcoin or not because I do not know. But bitcoin is for everyone who believes and wants to use bitcoin.

Bitcoin is the reserve currency for the crypto world. It's here to stay, not an exit scam so It's never to late to make investment on it. We should not give up, the initial period investors are in profit that's true so people who claim this is loss sector those are definitely might fail to realize how potential it is or unhappy to see others success.

I wait for donald Trump or Putin ,  Simonetta Sommaruga or pope of vatican opinion If btc is good or not!!

If bitcoin Don't get better I give maximum of 1 year more bitcoin to survive!

If things not get better with btc it will not last long

[moderator's note: consecutive posts merged]
Bitcoin already survive for more than a decade already and it has been better from where it started I don't know what you are really asking here.
Your question here depends on each point of view it is legit for those who believes it and not for those who have lost a lot and decided to quit on it.
You could never know how much time it has or how long it would last and I don't know how would you say that it would be better because for me it is better compare to it's low value last year.

actually very simple that we know crypto clearly is bitcoin not another token even though it is also contained in it. but crypto is bitcoin is one side that has happened so far.

is it profitable to hold and invest bitcoin if that question occurs, obviously profitable because we all know that we are all pursuing and investing money in bitcoin, which is mainly new to other tokens.

the conclusion is that bitcoin is very good and generates profits for those who hold it and invest it, although the risk of loss can also occur if you are impatient and quickly panic in the face of a downturn in bitcoin situation.

If Satoshi will not made a statement that bitcoin is not legit then it is a genuine thought for me. But famous people like John Mcafee or even Warren Buffet, now way! I just wanna do my own research than what they have said. If bitcoin is not legit then we never seen it grow just like now. It devaluates when it sudden moved in 2017. However, we can see how far it has done since it launched in the market. Many people thought that bitcoin is a scam because there are many scammers who used bitcoin as their front in scamming people. Due to the lack of knowledge, we easily enter the scam which leads us in trauma in terms of investment.

Also, would people like us still be into Bitcoin or even spend time here if it's not legit? While safety is already on your part, how you will secure your assets.

I would understand OP asking this question if you are new to bitcoin but since you've been here for a year now, why still ask this kind of question?

So I don't know if the OP is trolling the forum or he is serious about stating his opinions? But just to give brief answer whether bitcoin is legit or not. Absolutely legit! Because if it is not, maybe up until now you can't convert it to your fiat. So for me, that's the easy answer on that. Bitcoin has equivalent fiat value in the market. This is the reason why you can spend it in so many ways. I don't know what's the point of the OP here. If he doesn't believe in btc, why is he still in the forum?  :P

Bitcoin is legit, it is safe, and very user-friendly. People are doubting bitcoin because of the scams that was being reported that involves the use of bitcoin. Bitcoin can do a lot of things into our investments and our lives, and we should not waste the opportunity to use it as an asset. This coin already proved something in the market and our community and makes a history on 2017-2018 where it reached its ATH of $20,000. Right now, we are still hoping that bitcoin will make another ATH maybe 5 years from now.

It's safeness depends on how will you protect it and if you give so much effort to protect your bitcoin then you will surely be having a safe transaction. You also need to have a lot of knowledge to keep your transaction safe and you have to know where to trade and where to sell your bitcoin so that you can minimize the transaction fee.

I'd not say the Bitcoin is 100% safe but I can assure you it is legit. I think there are several reputable people who have already claimed Bitcoin was legit and as a matter of fact, they've probably been procuring worth millions of it.  Besides, I don't think people like Donald Trump or other members of the government will claim it as legit and safe because it seems a threat to them, the fact that they don't have the power to manipulate this decentralized currency. So if I were you, you don't need to follow someone's opinion especially if they have no experience any of it, regards Bitcoin or Crypto.

That is a good point. Just because its legit doesn't mean its already legal because some legit things can always come from something sinister. Like in most third world countries. The legitimacy of using Marijuana in being helpful in medicinal field is legit but it is no way legal in some places. Bitcoin on the other hand is not yet labeled as illegal in our country so its really fun to get to use it.

If bitcoin is not legitimate, then I'm not sure there are some countries that legalize bitcoin and also, even though bitcoin is only used as an investment asset, I personally still think that bitcoin is legit and it doesn't hurt to own it. Indeed, there will always be negative views regarding crime and other things that may continue to make bitcoin's image worse, but with bitcoin being able to continue to grow and survive until now, I don't think those negative views have any bearing on bitcoin's future.

If you watched the news many investors Institutional or retail are starting to adopt Bitcoin allocate 1% of their portfolio to it, because of the fear that the current financial system might collapse through massive money printing specifically trillions of newly created cash is printed daily, and this has increase the supply of the dollar, which decrease a purchasing power of your money. That's why Bitcoin is more legit than any other fiat asset because the supply is fix, and its not controlled by the banks that can steal your money.

Many of us already take profits from trading bitcoin or long-term investments, and not a few are rich from the proceeds of investing in bitcoin. Your bitcoin is safe and secure depending on the wallet you will use to store your bitcoin. It is advisable to use a wallet wherein you hold your keys.

In the name of bitcoin more Scams have reached the people. This is the reason why people think about the legitimacy of the bitcoin. In the meantime due to its virtual presence some even tried to create fake bitcoin and scam the common people for whom bitcoin is entirely a new thing. The legitimacy of bitcoin can understood by its survival from its day of existence. If it was a scam or not legit, now bitcoin could've gone out of usage.

The proof already established by legalizing it to different countries such as Japan who is one of the fastest developing technology markets in the world, US, Germany, France, Canada, Singapore and many more. Regulations are also implemented in some, although there are still limitations amidst the positive attitude towards it. In fact, some countries like Singapore, crypto-transactions are taxable in some cases.
If it's not legit, would they impose this kind of currency? That's why most of the people around the world are considering the possibility of it to be part of the trading market.

Of course, Bitcoin is legit, but not like fiat currencies, because it isn't controlled by any central authority. So don't wait till the president says it's trustworthy.

You have made a lot of thread and still you are creating something like this questioning the legitimacy of Bitcoin.

Why would Trump need to like Bitcoin before it can be called as legit?
Bitcoin and cryptocurrency are decentralized and Government hate that idea but it doesnt mean that all of none adopted of each government are illegal .

And why do we spend most of our time here, if it is not? There maybe a lot of fraudsters but they cant ruin the good and well-established reputation of Bitcoin for several years.

There's no good reason for calling bitcoin as phony cash. It's been 12 years, and this digital money actually exists, and individuals are benefiting by exchanging with bitcoins.

Bitcoin is genuine; however, it relies upon you how you treat it. For instance, numerous scammers belong to bitcoins, and a few criminals utilize this digital money to purchase illegal things like weapons and drugs.
Bitcoins makes you totally anonymous, and there's no way to trace it.

Right mate. For me that is the saddest part of using the crypto currency. It can be used by the scammers and criminals for their illegal activities freely since it has the ability to make the user's identity as anonymous and the authorities cannot track them easily and also these bad people can use fake identity for the KYC to hide their true identity.

Of course, bitcoin is legit, and if you are talking about security, it's secure till you don't make any mistakes from your side.

USA dollars also are being used by criminals all over the world(where its accessible). No one can stop criminals from using or getting access from anything, but you can control it by proper monitoring and by making strong laws, for that government have their own protection system.

Everything is good till you use it for good purpose, so its depends on you, how do you want to use your USD or bitcoin, for buying drugs or food.

The question is like, "Does having Bitcoin helps you in life?". Well, in some situations it helps but mostly its for the investments. Asking whether Bitcoin is legit is actually one question of mine when I was just beginning to learn about Cryptocurrencies. Its too good to be true but its true. All we need to do to gain or earn Bitcoin is utilize our time since that is the only investment necessary to gain Bitcoin and other Alternate Cryptocurrencies. Bitcoins legitimacy is already proven by the people who earned and created a living out of it.

Although I am not very experienced in cryptocurrency, I think Bitcoin is legal. It has been around since Bitcoin was created in 2009; There was no problem. Legit and legitimacy are separate things. Bitcoin has already been legalized by several countries around the world; They are using Bitcoin as a medium of exchange. Citizens of all countries that have not legalized Bitcoin, despite being legal, cannot use it as a medium of exchange. Bitcoin is a valuable asset; If you want to buy it, you must keep it in a safe place.

The bold sentence really caught my interest and that is really true. The security of Blockchain Technology is top notch that having it hacked would at least require a super computer. Even the popularity of Bitcoin continues to increase and more and more countries are accepting Bitcoin. And there is no need

Man this is some funny shit.  The people who know best about whether Bitcoin and or other types of cryptocurrencies are legit tend to be those in the financial field. Analysts, advisors, etc.  As an investment advisor I spent countless years of my life studying for licensing exams where much of it is to train to learn how to spot illegitimate financial products ( I say this over and over on here I feel like which is annoying even to me, but to make my point).  Bitcoin IS legit. Most cryptocurrencies are NOT legit.

Donald Trump is not a financial advisor and he doesn't know a god damn thing about bitcoin or how it works. Plain and simple.

First thing that I really wanted to say here is that, why are we here spending our whole time in Crypto world if it isn't? Of course, it is 101% Legit. However, Bitcoins legitimacy and good reputation has been used by many scammers and fraudsters in their wrong doings, that is the main reasons why others are so hesitant in believing and adopting bitcoin because of those  negative things  made by some criminals who only wanted an easy money. But, Bitcoin as a whole is pure and Legit based on the growing individuals that keep on using and trusting it across the globe.

Of course Bitcoin is legit and it doesn't need Trump or any other authority's approval. It's track record speaks for itself. It is being adopted as a reserve currency by reputable companies. We see everyday it is making new all time highs against fiat currencies in places like Brazil, Turkey, Argentina and Venezuela. It is a much safer way to preserve wealth especially in hyperinflationary economies.

Although Fiat Money is full of risks fiat currency is in circulation all over the world and Fiat is legalized in all countries. But Bitcoin has not yet become legal tender no country's government controls it and many countries do not support it. Although the demand for Bitcoin is high due to decentralized transactions fiat currency is needed. Without fiat currency central banks cannot replace their money. If the demand for Bitcoin increases and it is possible to buy everything with Bitcoin it can get legitimacy but it will take time.

There are as of now numerous different points on the gathering clarifying what you asked here. In any case, I'll rehash, Since bitcoin isn't unified and not getting constrained by any administration, It's impractical to have a legislative or government leveled exchange with somebody and report it governmentally genuine or not. All things considered, that is a positive purpose of bitcoin. Something else, bitcoin would not be borderless and accessible in all other the world.

Bitcoin is legal. Some people may use it for illegal jobs, but that doesn't require it to be banned. You can also use the money in your pocket for illegal work, this situation cannot be prevented. For this reason alone, it would be absurd to consider bitcoin as illegal.

There are starting at now various focuses on the get-together explaining what you asked here. Regardless, I'll repeat, Since bitcoin isn't brought together and not getting obliged by any organization, It's unfeasible to have an administrative or government leveled trade with someone and report it legislatively certifiable or not. Taking everything into account, that is a positive reason for bitcoin. Something different, bitcoin would not be borderless and available in all other the world.

Bitcoin is a legitimate currency that made from blockchain technology. Other countries feel threatened with bitcoin or cryptocurrency because it is decentralized, which means it has no central authority. Bitcoin is not backed by any tangible assets nor the government because it only depends on its supply and demand; that is why it is hard for them to trust bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

said to be legal in terms of legality. depending on how each national figure or leader views the position of Bitcoin. or it can be said if in a country, be it in the USA or in other countries, placing Bitcoin is a digital currency that has the potential to benefit a country's income.

on the contrary, it could be legal if bitcoin depletes and shifts fiat currencies in a country, so that the fiat currency's popularity value is smaller than Bitcoin. so it is clear that the state also calculates the position of Bitcoin.

I think that lately people often mix terms like legitimacy, legality and regulation.
Some think Bitcoin is illegal if it's not regulated by certain state but that it's not true. As far as I know in many countries there are no legal obstacles to use Bitcoin but it's still not legally regulated. I think that people get confused because of that and not sure if with using Bitcoin they might get into some conflict with authorities.

There are indeed people who earned bigtime profit from doing so and also there are people who lost and chose to pull their investment. Having a hint? The concept of Bitcoin being a fraud is due to such instances. Some people are not aware of how to play the 'game' of volatility. They are expecting profit but since there are times of market downfall, they are easily bring discouraged by the partial loss. Enough for them to quit and call it a scam. This topic never gets old. legitimate, but if what is being asked is about legal, then bitcoin is still illegal because the government has not recognized bitcoin as a legal asset. why is it legit, because the volatility of bitcoin can actually open up opportunities to get multiple profits.

There are numerous advantages of cryptographic money; however, we can't dodge some negative realities.
It all relies upon us; Bitcoin can be utilized lawfully and illicit.

For instance, it is lawful to exchange with bitcoins and make additional advantages; on the other hand, crooks used to purchase unlawful things like weapons, drugs, etc.
The biggest disadvantage is you can not reach that person who's using it.

bitcoin is right, no one can intervene or make any changes so it has its own authorization. so that anyone can not control bitcoin where it is located from the excess bitcoin has.

Obviously it all depends on whether it is to be used as positive or deviant and I really agree with your opinion, but the government can control it with clear rules so that those who want to do things violating the rules can get entangled with regulations made by the government.
Even though it is not easy to do this, with good intentions and clear rules, at least everyone wants to follow government regulations.

it could be that there are still many who will do things that are deviant and cannot be detected properly, but the rottenness will one day be exposed because the ego will overcome this greed.

Well, bitcoin has been around for, like, 12 years now already and it's still standing strong. Speaking from my country, I consider bitcoin is legit. We're allowed to make transactions with bitcoin as the medium. We even have a mobile wallet for such. However, there is no law stating that bitcoin is legal or illegal. But it is allowed.

Anyway, regardless of the country and just by considering bitcoin itself, it's legit enough for me. There will be numerous testimonies that they have been benefitted by bitcoin and I'm one of them. It's legit and real. No doubt about that.

Bitcoin is a legit currency. And what is more important is the fact that you don't have to ask someone "trusted" about whether you can save a value in bitcoin or use it as a medium of exchange. Bitcoin is a completely transparent currency and everything in the bitcoin network can be verified at a very low cost. So you don't have to trust someone out there, because you can run your own node and verify everything that comes into the network. You can verify that transactions occurring in the network are not spending the same coins twice. You can verify that the total supply and the rate of issuance are corresponding to what you are expecting from the bitcoin network. You can verify that bitcoin both has and sustain credible monetary characteristics and robust monetary policy. It is legit because its characteristics are guaranteed by the entire population of the planet Earth and not by a bunch of bureaucrats seeking ways to control your life.

but yes a major political figure or any major government say about the legality of BTC would be much better.

In a legal standpoint it is illegal as there is no regulations or discussions within the government about it. My take is that bitcoin sits between legal and illegal, illegal because there is no clear take by the legal part of a country, legal in a way it is not raising any eyebrows from within the government and the use of it is not frowned upon and the apps that helps in using bitcoin is not banned. I do agree about the legitimacy of bitcoin is regardless of country stand on it, it is subjective after all but it does not mean that if it helps you then it should be legal, everything needs to be on paper before a legitimacy is confirmed.

For the longest run that bitcoin has existed, I think we cannot say anymore that it is not legitimate. There a lot of people who are currently investing on it right now and they have given their hopes high for it. Regardless if it's legit or not, those who are believing in it and those who believed ever since it started are probably enjoying all the wealth they have right now. Don't listen to hearsays about it, instead try and check it out yourself, do some research or try consulting those who have been in this game for so long and after, make your conclusion.

Many people are already using and making money out of it. Idk why this kind of questions still exist after all of those things happened in the past year especially thr bull run in the year 2017. We can freely use it because it's decentralized and no government can even control it, they allow it as an asset so it's legal to use.

Other people experiemce to have a lot good or positive insight about it. I, personally have some friends that is now have a good life became a product of bitcoin legitimacy. Somehow, bitcoin still is one of the most risky type of investment yet many people able to learn and make some techniques on how to handle the bitcoin and its being volatile attitude. Bitcoin is legit and don’t need any authentication from anyone. Bitcoin is a digital currency and isn’t controlled by the centralized Authority it’s more of anonymous so no one can stand for bitcoin but rather bitcoin is for the world.
Though many countries are yet to accept the technology but nevertheless with time they will be open to digital currencies and it’s important in economy growth.

Bitcoin is legal. After a period of continued development, Bitcoin is likely to become the world's currency in the future. It can play the role of electronic gold and become the target of the value of other sovereign currencies. From this perspective, Bitcoin can be used as a means of asset preservation in a future where currency inflation is inevitable.

maybe he got information that some countries have not accepted it as a legal and recognized means of payment, but in development there have been many countries that can accept it, even though it may not be a legal medium of exchange, at least there is no prohibition to make other transactions, so bitcoin can be said to be not a problem.

It also helps a lot of people here that can say to you that bitcoin is a good thing to invest in. It maybe not legal on many countries but having a good strategy to make it slide and avoid getting caught, you may earn a lot of money but you also need a lot of skills like having a long patience and skill to read the wave of ups and downs of bitcoin price. However, there may still be some disagreement over the sub-classification due diligence properties to create the legal framework. Bitcoin isn't legal to some countries but it doesn't mean that it's illegal. Bitcoin mass adaption and investors makes the bank and fiat currencies fear it due to digitalizing of currency which is already what bitcoin is and other cryptocurrencies.
Bitcoin may lack implementation to local markets and but we can almost see how much it change throughout the years, it might be a slow progress to it but we can it happening day by day. Bitcoin payment is somehow being adapted by some companies which can proof that bitcoin legality.
Also, bitcoin being a decentralized network makes the government loss control to which is the reason why it is illegal to some countries.

I'd say they got it all wrong, since people like you and me are what makes Bitcoin, Bitcoin. In other words, we are the ones who determine the future direction of the currency. Everything is governed by mathematics, cryptography, and algorithms. So yes, Bitcoin is a good, legitimate cryptocurrency that can be used as serious money just like the US Dollar. Don't believe anything that's said in the real world, as most negative comments are spread by Bitcoin haters. Doing your own studies will help you determine whenever Bitcoin is truly legitimate or a sham.

Cryptocurrency is digital money, without a middleman, like a bank, exchanged digitally. You've probably heard of the two famous cryptocurrency forms, Bitcoin or Ether. Cryptocurrency is provided by an open source algorithm, unlike cash, which is guaranteed by governments. But it's a currency, and since it's totally digital, cryptocurrency enables users to make virtually no anonymous payments fees.

when bitcoin experienced a significant increase and was supported by many parties, you still said if bitcoin was legal or not? or bitcoin is good or not?
So this is the explanation bro, for legal or not bitcoin matters, currently there is no institution that guarantees it, it's just that every country has its own regulations.
and for bitcoin good or not? depending on the person using bitcoin for what. because what we know right now bitcoin will be good if used for futures investment or trading.

bitcoin itself was created and issued in 2009. how can we say that bitcoin is fake, the proof is still there and still survive and people are still using bitcoin for their investment, bitcoin has been alive for 11 years, and I sure bitcoin will last for a longer period of time ..

Someone with good and legit reputation need say here if bitcoin is secure safe and legit!!

We Trust USA dollar because its Federal reserve are legit guys!!

So is bitcoin good or not?

Someone like donald Trump should if its legit

I don't think there is any doubt as to whether Bitcoin is legit or not. And in general, I think Bitcoin can be much more trusted than the Federal Reserve. The Federal Reserve print dollars every day without any liquidity behind them, and the dollar will continue to depreciate.

Some countries, banks have accepted Bitcoin. See Bitcoin as a place to store property, investment. Up to now, many people are looking for Bitcoin. So I'm sure Bitcoin is legit.

Hello everybody. Before figuring out whether Bitcoin is legal or not, you need to look into the legislation of the country in which you are located or live. From what I hear from the media in different countries, a very small number of regions have completely banned Bitcoin, but the oddity is not that they ban it, but that they periodically allow Bitcoin. Although I am a law-abiding citizen, nevertheless, having passed any law, government officials must first of all take care of how this law will be implemented and who will force it to be implemented. My opinion to prohibit Bitcoin is the same as to prohibit spring, and to issue a law that instead of spring it is now autumn. That which cannot be controlled is in itself above all laws. This cannot be prohibited - you can only try to adapt to it. Bitcoin is above the law.

Is Elon Musk does enough to call as legit and have a good reputation? then in that case Bitcoin is legit as he once mentioned it before on his tweeter and he's now venturing with it along with a couple of large institutions. Besides, there's a lot of people who can be called living proof as they use Bitcoin on their investment and different legit transactions. If it is fake it wouldn't survive for too long and institutions will not waste their time and money on it.

I don't think someone can actually say it is legit or not because not only but so many people have profited and benefited on bitcoin in so many ways that you can imagine. I mean not all people might like this currency but bitcoin isn't built for everyone. The target of bitcoin's purpose lies in the anonymity of it's user so don't lump us bitcoiners to all of you so please don't raise substantial matter if it's legit or not bitcoin doesn't care nor you haters.

- That proves that people like bitcoin in the fact that it's not legal when its value will be stretched indefinitely without being slowed down due to strict government rules but in return, this too lax rule makes the problem of fraud or investor traps very easy, there are many cases of loss and cannot be blamed on anyone or require responsibility from a fixed party, almost everyone has to manage their own accounts, instead of putting full trust in someone. The illegality of bitcoin has always had such losses but today, the government is building networks in bitcoin, it is very likely that they will proceed with the most optimal regulation.

Of course, any object, such as a kitchen knife, can be found to be illegal. But first of all, it all depends on how the knife is used, for cooking or for criminal activity. The situation is the same with bitcoin. The government can make any decisions and laws, recognizing everything that they do not want to be illegal, but today the authorities no longer have the ability to destroy the cryptocurrency or prohibit its use.

There is no doubt about Bitcoin not being legit. The only reason people spread these bad rumours about Bitcoin being a scam is either because they don't understand it themselves or because they want to put you off from joining in the rally.

To realise that BTC is as real as it can be you only need to look around to see how many legit companies are now endorsing crypto to the point where they invest millions. I say that's a fact you can't ignore.

Its also weird to ask for a person to promote Bitcoin when its already the number 1 Cryptocurrency internationally. Donald Trump does not even have a clue if Bitcoin exists since he is always focused on doing things with fast outputs. Bitcoin is already legit because its already being used when buying cars and its also widely used in most transactions that would happen digitally. The Bitcoin adoption rate is very fast right now since most companies are starting to see its benefits and we can really see a world with Cryptocurrencies in it.

legitimate bitcoin why wait for trump to have it?  Should Trump announce that he owns Bitcoin?  I don't think it has to be because of wealth, not to be published, it's okay if bitcoin can become fiat money, at least some people already support the existence of bitcoin

I wouldn't say Musk makes Bitcoin legit or not with his posts or words. The question is wrong anyway whether it is legit or not. Bitcoin is here and it can't be stopped. Why shouldn't it be legit to send some data around in a decentralized network? Take tulips for example: if people start exchanging tulips because they value them, would you also ask whether tulips are legit or not? :)

Bitcoin is code and the code is legit. Bitcoin can be abused, true, but so can a knife be abused! I can even kill you with a chair, but that doesn't make the chair illegitimate. Or just take email: is email legit? Very similar to Bitcoin, you use it to transfer information from A to B. Could it be abused? Hell ya! But is it illegitimate? You can abuse it to plan bad things or transfer illegal documents as much as you can use Bitcoin for certain criminal things.

Bitcoin is a technical mirage and here to stay!

Bitcoin permission has been officially introduced in some countries, while others see that Bitcoin can be used, but there are parliamentary restrictions.  Again in some countries the central bank and the government work completely against Bitcoin.  My neighboring country has given permission to use bitcoin but my country has not given permission for bitcoin till date.
each country will apply according to the interests that will be obtained and the effect that might happen to the country by providing certainty by accepting bitcoin as a trading currency just like any other. but some countries still take into account the pros and cons because misuse of bitcoin can occur so that strict rules are needed so that the state is not harmed. so each country will determine the readiness of all of them before making sure to accept bitcoins. although it is clear that bitcoin is actually very profitable, the state must be able to confidently be able to overcome something that might later be impacted by the acceptance of bitcoin.

So it is not surprising that there are still many countries that still cannot accept or accept part of it and do not recognize it as a legal medium of exchange, but do not prohibit trade and others from being carried out, but when it is to be used as payment, the state does not recognize it and must first change to fiat.

Bitcoin is legal in all countries that have allowed Bitcoin.  Again, the use of Bitcoin is completely illegal in all the countries that have not given permission for Bitcoin.  I live in a country where Bitcoin has been declared completely illegal by Central Banking and the government.

Is Bitcoin question legal? Come now yet have a satisfactory answer. Some countries still ban bitcoin they think Bitcoin is virtual money. So many people feel afraid of investing Bitcoin. There are also many countries that accept Bitcoin as India, Japan, Korea and America. And watch Bitcoin as payment method.

Despite the genuine of Bitcoin, its potentials, and its price stance when it total lockdown which captivated a lot of institutional investors which are currently the major investors we have in the market.
Bitcoin can still be legit and so not, why? Legit is everything that's conforming to the government rules so if a government of a country is against crypto technically crypto is not legit in that country.

There are numerous advantages of cryptographic money; however, we can't dodge some negative realities.
It all relies upon us; Bitcoin can be utilized lawfully and illicitly.
For instance, it is lawful to exchange with bitcoins and make additional advantages; on the other hand, crooks used to purchase unlawful things like weapons, drugs, etc.
The biggest disadvantage is you can not reach that person who's using it.

I think the problem here is with your definition of 'legal'. If you mean 'legal' as legal to own, then bitcoin is legal because no one or country forbids anyone from owning bitcoin even those for whom it may not be accepted for payment. So don't compare that joke with our beloved BTC. If he doesn't want to buy it, then no one can ask his permission to make Bitcoin legal. sure that BTC is legal and recognized by everyone, what are you thinking about legal BTC? legal or not?

until now bitcoin is still illegal in various countries only a few countries have legalized bitcoin but even so in countries that prohibit bitcoin there has been no arrest or hunting of people who hold bitcoins, meaning that even though they are prohibited, there are no sanctions against people who hold bitcoins.

Bitcoin is a digital money. I'm still learning and new to cryptocurrencies but i believe that bitcoin is legit. You can invest and make profits. It can benefit you and has made a big impact on the community especially to those people who are unemployed.

Although there many scammers out there who causes you to lose all of your assets, you can always avoid it by being careful, knowledgeable in marketing and having good skills and strategies.

Well, I'd agree to some point. Yet, there are also countries that are neutral about Bitcoin. I mean it's not legal but not illegal as well, Let's say the Philippines. Here, our Government are not banning nor prohibiting people to engage in crypto, this doesn't mean that's Legal but our Central Bank quoted to be cautious about Bitcoin, given that still Bitcoin is not Illegal it's just a fair warning as there are a lot Ponzis scheme and vulgar scammers.

Before, I've read something about laundering money via Crypto and the owner and the one trading it was arrested. Not sure when it;s but yeah there are already cases wherein an arrest happens.
