Title: Bitcoin Turkey as a sponsor in a football match
Post by: Qcrypto on November 11, 2020, 06:11:12 PM
So I just noticed this at a football match between Turkey and Croatia.
There is a sponsor called BtcTurk.

I was curious and went on to check if it had anything to do with Bitcoin.

Turns out it did: https://www.btcturk.com/

That was good! I think it's the Right (?) step to promote through Mainstream media even though I'm not really sure about the Impact but it's innovative. Some of the same things have happened before, such as the Etoro Bitcoin advertisement during Liverpool and Totenham matches or Hex during Aston Villa and Crystal Palace matches.

Maybe not all countries can do that because of different regulations but promoting via Mainstream Media as above and other things like Billboard, Poster is also quite interesting. Anyway thanks for the information mate!

The fact is that, there are more to be coming in the future, we never know how this could go but I'm pretty sure it will go a long way more than expected.
I have seen similar thing like this in English premier league, sportbets.io having partnership with Watford United where gamblers plays sportbets with bitcoin, also bitcoin logo is shown at the right hand side of their Jersey. Although this was 2019 news but still had more effects on the masses.

The Bitcoin logo (B) will appear on the shirt sleeve of Watford FC this season, as part of an educational drive led by the innovative sports betting brand Sportsbet.io.

I believed there are several times already wherein crypto-related ads being shown at a sporting event.

I've remembered a related thread about that in the Gambling discussion section, still on Football. But unfortunately, I can't find a keyword related to that.

Even with no supporters in stadiums football matches across so many countries are being broadcast live and many are catching up with the highlights on youtube and other services so advertising crypto related banners will bring rewards on multiple fronts. Slowly crypto is becoming more and more mainstream and advertising in football stadiums is just a fantastic way to get the word out there for btcturk.com, just talking about it in a thread here clearly shows their advertising had the desired effect.

This is really good to see as Bitcoin and crypto related ads have reached mainstream media and I am sure this is just the beginning and a breakthrough which was required for bitcoin, gradually we might see similar adverts in other countries as well. This is what we had been waiting for ages but again regulators may try their best to keep Bitcoin into check.

Agreed to everything you said and btc is making fortunes for those investors who invested in it this year and the party has just started. I see that is why btc is showing us some moves since few weeks, as the mainstream media is catching up with the popularity of crypto and adding it to their lists while showing some onboard action through those advertisements on the digital banners as well as on tees of some famous players.

That's a step forward in the growth of bitcoin, once people feared of hearing the word. As the usage is mostly on darkweb needs and for gambling, people had a belief that bitcoin is the one developed to ease illegal activities. The core value of bitcoin isn't understood properly. Now slowly people have known about its value and it's multiple usage. This is why we're able to see it during the time of games.

Already several sponsor has been made by firms working with cryptocurrency. Mostly this can be seen on football matches than other games. Hope these advertising on the light boards will let people to try out and know about bitcoin.

Wow. That's another nice promotion of Bitcoin in a big event attended by thousands of people. But isn't BtcTurk a name which a lot of the people in the audience are probably not familiar of? I mean, they might only disregard it because it doesn't ring a bell in them. Isn't it more catchy if they just put Bitcoin in there rather than BtcTurk? If the OP is confused at first if it has anything to do with Bitcoin, it must also be true to the audience watching the game.

Sponsorships or advertising in any sports game for bitcoin related companies are going to be popular soon. Sportsbet.io was the first one that I've seen do that as quoted.

I visited btcturk and it's an exchange. So in history, we now have a crypto casino and crypto exchange that has advertised/sponsored through a football game.

The company is promoting its brand name.

If they will put just Bitcoin there, it will also give way for other companies to be known as while people will search for bitcoin, there will be lots of exchanges people will encounter.

Btcturk is also based in Turkey so it's a great promotion to put their ads in a Turkey football match.

Sports is the thing that brings people together which is ideal for advertisements. Good thing that they are sponsoring them, this will not only be an advertisement campaign, it will also be a public relations campaign to help the people ease their perspective on bitcoin. I hope that other sporting event follow this step towards promoting bitcoin.

Btctürk is the biggest Bitcoin exchange in Turkey. They are operating since 2013. This is their thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=249766), they have an active profile (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=134481) here which answer questions.

This year they sponsored to both men and women Turkish national football teams. They mentioned this is the first time in the world, an exchange sponsor to a national team.

Also last year they were main sponsor of Turkish Super League team Yeni Malatyaspor. It was a 1 year deal.

Damn, this type of advertising is not targeted at all.
Do they think that the majority of football fans know anything about Bitcoin, blockchain, wallets, crypto exchange platforms, etc.?
I respect any business, that has the balls to advertise on TV or on billboards, but I don't think that such advertising will raise awareness or educate people about Bitcoin and crypto trading.
The "average Joe" would simply see the logo of BtcTurk, say to himself "I don't care about this BS" and he will just continue watching the game. :-\

Not sure exactly how much any form of influence sponsorship by BtcTurk would have had in the Turkish BTC market in general but I am not sure any movement upwards in the Turkish market could be put solely down to football advertising.

I guess only those within the Turkish geographic area would be able to give an indication about how much impact crypto or more specifically Bitcoin advertising is having in that country but thankfully it seems to be heading in to mainstream.

Even with no supporters in stadiums football matches across so many countries are being broadcast live and many are catching up with the highlights on youtube and other services so advertising crypto related banners will bring rewards on multiple fronts. Do they think that the majority of football fans know anything about Bitcoin, blockchain, wallets, crypto exchange platforms, etc.?

It's targeted marketing. %90 of Turkish men watch football, it's the main sports here. Nationalism is high, that's why they sponsor to national team rather than Beşiktaş, Fenerbahçe or Galatasaray (That could result a big conflict for other fans).
When you are main sponsor of national team your advertisement is also in billboards, background of interview area etc.
They probably got more money than they spent for this advertisement already. Their daily volume is crazy.

They also have TV commercials 24/7 on big media companies. Whenever you watch TV you either see Btctürk or Paribu (another Bitcoin exchange) commercial. Bitcoin is very popular in Turkey generally. These ads are boosting recognition and have good impact on crypto currency reputation general.

Psst, they would not be interested in Fly Emirates or Rakuten either  ;)

The goal for making sponsorships is not to get as many customers as possible (that’s what online ads are for), it’s to make as many impressions as possible. Even if people never use their products and services, if they merely see them, they might research them more and refer their friends to them.

More exposure means more audience, hence more attention from potential investors, this has always been the best way to promote businesses, platforms etc; thereby seeing such about Bitcoin means more people will ask questions, those who don't know much about it will make their findings thus attention will be seen sooner than later. This also shows that, people and platforms are now understanding that Bitcoin has a very big role to play in the near future, hence trying their best to tap into what it offers in any way possible as well as promoting it to the world in any way deem necessary.
Therefore, I believe that this platform advertising Bitcoin in a football match, aims to create awareness as well as raising questions in the minds of people, at first more people might not pay attention but with more advertising, the right questions will be asked.

Wow this is really a great news and that's why I use to say BTC is infinite this is how slowly it's capturing people's attention, football game is a very big event where billions of fans are crazy in this game and advertising in their t-shirts will definitely boost the BTC price. I am happy that turkish government is supporting BTC a lot and that's the spirit of a developing nation.

I have to admit that I missed it even though I watched the game for a very short time (the final score was 3-3), but it is quite logical that any legitimate company can buy an advertising space anywhere, including at a football stadium. I believe that we will see things like this much more often in the future, and from what I know Bitcoin is very popular in Turkey, and this kind of advertising will surely raise that popularity even more.

Promoting on bigger football club most effective how to make bitcoin become popular in the world with many watcher every football match make many people will search what is bitcoin and how benefit bitcoin for many people.  Now the era of digital we have active promote bitcoin when adopting by many people have space for bitcoin become legal currency payment transaction, after legal as payment will become hit for bitcoin flying to higher price.

Good idea, when many people see crypto advertisements in the world of sports, especially Bitcoin on television, will attract a lot of investors, even in the Premier League last year Watford football club put the Bitcoin logo on the club jersey. this is the right step to be able to introduce cryptocurrency to many people.

Nice catch. I think I have heard of this brand before and I remember I read it bitcointurk not bitcointurkey because I didn't know that the word Turk means turkey. people on that country do already knew that its related to btc but others won't figure it out easily because the logo is different but it still has a btc on its name beside Turk . This wasn't the first time that happen on the football league but there was before that btc is showcased more obviously  . this important events can bring a big impact to btc and to its btc sponsors .

Not familiar with this exchange so I headed to coingecko, and guess what? They have decent trading volume going on.

https://www.coingecko.com/en/exchanges/btcturk-pro

Maybe, Turkish users here are more familiar with this exchange. They even have good trust score - 7, which is relatively higher than exchanges like crex or exmarkets.

For me, this is a good way to promote crypto, some fans will be curious about this and they will search where is the name coming from, sponsoring a football event.

This is first such open crypto related advertisement I have ever come across and glad that crypto is advertised openly which will encourage other groups to do the same and I believe this wouldn't have been possible without consent of Turkish authorities and kudos to them for supporting Bitcoin, we are mainstream now.

It good that cryptocurrency are now advertised publicly but you was curious because you are not aware of the exchange name (BtcTurk) cause it was among the lng existing crypto exchange even when the Turkey government dont totally support crypto trading and transaction.

I think the mainstream acceptance cryptocurrency related business and crypto get from football, companies and institutions these days is because of the economic meltdown caused by the pandemic which makes them sees crypto as the best alternative. Besides, I read a thread yesterday about China Construction Bank selling their bonds through an exchange site.

Cryptocurrency exchanges has been doing really great. This is not a new thing and it’s not the first time I am seeing a thing like this, I can remember seeing a few, especially the one of CoinDeal which went viral for sponsoring a premier league team Wolverhampton.

It’s a good means for cryptocurrency exchanges to advertise themselves, cause from what I saw on the news the advert that CoinDeal did with premier league attracted so many customers to their platform. So, others when they see how it turned out, they will try to follow the same route to achieve the same level of success.

It's a good promotion. O don't remember that so far I"ve seen such open advertising except online. I believe that with time that will become quite normal and usual because there is no need for crypto exchanges to hide and don't advertise their business. This many people who are not familiar with crypto exchanges might become intrigued.

It was very refreshing to see this type of promotion during sport events.

Cryptocurrency market capitalization is almost half a Trillion $.

Does anybody have any statistics about the growth of Bitcoin, crypto exchanges and crypto usage in general in Turkey? I like the connection of crypto or specifically Bitcoin advertising in sport especially football because it has a mass audience and that is needed to bring Bitcoin and crypto in to the mainstream.

I don't really trust interviews with people and volumes in exchanges because that's easy to manipulate numbers but I checked them for general knowledge.

According to Statista %16 of interviewers used or owned crypto currency. Use this statistics with a pinch of salt.

https://i.imgur.com/mxYhWPp.jpg

Turkish exchange Paribu made a research 4 months ago, they said in this research only %0.7 made an interaction with crypto currencies in Turkey. That would make less than 1 million people.

It also says %21.3 of users are women. This is probably because men do KYC with their wives to open an account there. ;D I don't believe 1/5 ratio is normally possible.

The most used crypto currency is Bitcoin with %68.
%58.4 see crypto currencies as an investment tool. This is a common belief in Turkey I would agree on.
