Title: has bitcoin achieved its goal?

I don't think there is any pre-defined goal for Bitcoin, nor there is any one that is able to set goals for Bitcoin. Depends on how you view it, the very invention of Bitcoin fulfilled Satoshi's goal to make a currency that's trustless and decentralised. I don't think he ever envisioned Bitcoin to become this successful and thought of it as a way to make micro transactions.

IMO, the very end (and ideal) goal of Bitcoin is for it to achieve widespread adoption. Until we are ready to ditch fiat and go for Bitcoin, that won't happen any time soon.

I don’t think bitcoin has achieved its goal yet fiat currency is more widely used for business and transactions the whole world supports it and the transaction system is much easier bitcoin usually rises a lot based on its demand depends on the market and how you do it despite the ban on virtual currency transactions in other countries the government is interested in blockchain technology. The government has also allocated in this sector in the proposed budget to take the digital country forward.

The opinion that bitcoin future will be decided by its adoption as a payment method is wrong. Bitcoin has its main usecase as a storage asset like physical gold. Fortunately, the value of bitcoin is better than gold, and its usecase is greater than gold.

Bitcoin can be used to move funds, do make transactions but to make it as a payment method, it is not a main purpose and is unrealistic at least now. Lightning network can solve it but it is for future development of bitcoin and Lightning network and lightning network adoption.

Bitcoin has a sky to fly and reach to. It has not yet achieved its ultimate goals.

Bitcoin accomplished something very important and although these is not the objective based on its whitepaper - it still managed to make. And that is, despite being in trade war, slow economic activities, inevitable recession and financial crisis - it shows that bitcoin can become the best store of value and in fact could become in the future. If this is what bitcoin founder envisioned before perhaps this is what he meant by creating one.

Exactly. Because who's going to decide on what the definite goal is? Remember those altcoin projects that has pre-defined goals and specific roadmaps? There's a reason why Bitcoin doesn't have one— because Bitcoin doesn't have a centralized team that's making decisions for the project.

We still need a very long time to switch to payment methods using bitcoin. As long as speculators continue to profit from bitcoin's value to get a lot of fiats, then bitcoin will not be able to replace fiat money.

As has already been said, there is no specific goal or taget for bitcoin. It's decentralized and the community is free to use it whichever way they want. However if we are to go by Satoshi's vision of creating a peer to peer payment network which doesn't need one to trust a third party, I would say, Yes. For every individual who switched to Bitcoin to escape the centralized system or anyone who takes advantage of its pseudo autonomy, that is the fulfilment of the vision.

Some would say global.adoption is the goal of bitcoin, some others may set a fiat value target as the goal, all these are reflections of what they expect from the market and of itself is a fulfilment of the goal of bitcoin; it is different things to different people and anyone can use it the way they wish.

I think the initial goal of bitcoin as a recipient and sender of transactions has been achieved. But keep in mind there are still many mysteries that we can solve from bitcoin and I think bitcoin will continue to be developed in the next few years. Moreover, what bitcoin has achieved so far, it is only a small part of which is actually still many benefits of bitcoin itself.

Satoshi's vision was to avoid third party involvement when it comes to payment transaction, the goal was to give people control over their finances but there are several things which is affecting to proceed further like trust matters and government of every country should motivate Crypto currency to their public if this happens public will definitely start transaction as trust automatically builds, Also knowledge about BTC is most important still the majority of the people do know what bitcoin is and how it works. So I think if the government officials show green signal to this technology it will surely achieve its goal.

Side utility so, we can assume yes. if you said only payment method, they already happen once Satoshi here.

But Satoshi has plan more that it, so the payment method just pieces things. More than payment, we need to change big system, so it's not the goal.

I don't think that was the initial principle of bitcoin, because the principle itself is an alternative payment transaction besides using conventional payment transaction methods that we have been running so far.

As long as this is still not fulfilled in every country, bitcoin will automatically develop until it can be recognized and used in every transaction that is carried out around the world.

The initial goal is to become a payment method, so I guess there are people here who have used bitcoin in their lifetime to pay or purchase something. However, it has evolved since its inception, becoming a investment instrument, store of value, hedge against financial crisis. So I would say that we've made a lot of progress in the last 10 years already.

Unlike shitcoin projects, Bitcoin developers don't make any promises about Bitcoin's adoption and usability. It's not a problem if Bitcoin won't achieve mass adoption, or if it will happen after decades - both Bitcoin's network and Bitcoin development are decentralized, so there's no strict timeframes for any goals.

Satoshi was quite optimistic that Bitcoin can be mass adopted, but still he never said for sure that it's going to happen, or that it must happen for Bitcoin to be counted as success.

In my book, Bitcoin is doing good as long as at least some people use it.

For me, I think the main goal of Satoshi and the reason why he created bitcoin is to make something where people invest and secure their future with it.

He didn't clearly tell us his motive why he created a cryptocurrency that is so volatile and yet have a high price in the market compared to other assets.

But I think that the thing that should matter right now is its popularity and price in the market. Bitcoin adoption is the thing that the community wants so that global adoption will make its price to go high and increase its reputation in the eyes of the governments who are against it.

What goal?
Satoshi creates Bitcoin to become an alternative mode of payment. This is not the goal, Bitcoin nothing to make it reach but only the people who trusting and accumulating Bitcoin. If their purpose is to make use of Bitcoin as a currency, then that they are already reaching.

I don't matter if that is a goal or not, we can still maximize the use of Bitcoin in the long-run. In fact, this is not only used for currency but had also been used for investment.

Its goal to achieve the mainstream popularity is not that easy as long as there are still scams that are being reported in the social media.

That's the main problem in cryptocurrency world, criminals are unpredictable but avoidable. Bitcoin's goal to become used in many transactions and as the best asset will surely happen in the near future. It has a lot of things to prove, maybe sooner or later, we just need to wait and help it to become better as we support its existence and prevalence in the market.

never heard that if bitcoin has a goal to be adopted by all of the parties. As far as i know, if bitcoin being created to be a p2p cash electronic system and this is based on the Bitcoin whitepaper created by satoshi.
It's about a solution to the centralized system that can't be trusted. The goal of bitcoin can't be determined yet, satoshi was giving bitcoin as a solution to fight the centralized payment system that can't be fully trusted.

To be short, I don't think bitcoin didn't achieve this goal yet. because for many marketplaces bitcoin is still impossible to use because bitcoin as never made to become a payment method. Bitcoin is not like the useless fiat money you use to buy stuff with it from the marketplace because for little transaction such as 3usd for less you will need to pay a half of dollar and wait a few minutes. This can't be right. There is not such goal or other any predicted goal for bitcoin. Bitcoin is an asset not payment method.

If we are talking about the price is not already achieve because for sure it will up more the value than we are expected.

They achieved their other goal but they have a lot of needs to help here in the cryptocurrency.

It is satoshi that has set goals for bitcoin. Bitcoin as a payment system, as a programmed currency, and digital money will thrive its way based on the creator/s of it. And with that said, the creator/s, or specifically satoshi has reached its goal.

What matters these days is the holder's goal. If you hold bitcoin then determine your goal while having it. You prefer to hold it and wait for a higher price or you're liking to use it as payment for whichever transaction you do online.

You're absolutely right. Bitcoin was made to be currency to spent on goods and services, used as a store of value, used for settlement of debt just like the US dollar or the Euro. I'm sure everyone here agrees that bitcoin still has a long way to go to do just that. Bitcoin has to be adopted by everyone for that to happen
I, however, would say we shouldn't just write off the accomplishments of bitcoin over the years. I mean, bitcoin has risen from obscurity ten years ago to being adopted by top financial institutions such as PayPal and Visa. While there is still a long way to go, I believe bitcoin has done relatively much in terms of adoption by the masses compared to ten years ago

Accomplished a lot? I don't think so. In my perspective, Bitcoin is originally a digital currency and the difference from traditional digital currencies is simply decentralisation wherein transactions would cost less and faster at the same time. The only thing I think Bitcoin have achieved is support from people who benefit from its advantages but what's important is that  it have established large community of users or I would say investors. Bitcoin still is not being used on daily transactions because it is more often used on investment purposes which is not a bad thing.
Thus, there's still more to happen in order for this technology to fulfill its "goal" or purpose in our lives.

I think bitcoin's main goal is to make transactions easier for everyone without the other party.
But to achieve that I have difficulty because each country has its own way of conducting transactions that are regulated by the government of that country.

You can't make everyone accept bitcoin. This is a free world and a free market and I can tell you that I already know that at no point in time there will be "everyone accepting bitcoin", and it's all due to one simple reason. Does your local store accept Japanese Yen? If it does then it does not accept British Pound and Euro at the same time. There are no stores that accept all the world currencies, you first have to exchange them, so don't expect the world to suddenly accept bitcoin.

Hello
I actually believe that Bitcoins themselves doesn't have a goal , other than *helping people to achieve their own personal ones* which does mean that the goal in contrast to Bitcoins might be different for both you and me.
For some people the goal might be : Storing Bitcoins and investing for a long run.
For some people it might be : using Bitcoins time and again for their needs and maybe using it as a source to transfer money

Some people even use it to expand their business but finally they convert it into fiat and there are companies who are actually investing more than a 10% of their income in Bitcoins.

I do believe it have achieved it's initial goal which was : Acceptance

For sure we do have some drawbacks and some countries not still accepting it but I do think that we just have to give this time.

I don't quite understand how Satoshi was very smart about the incentives to have Bitcoin work but didn't figure out that nobody is gonna use Bitcoin as a currency without a proper inflation mechanism. Even X+ years ago, people where telling 'at one point in time, all Bitcoins will be mined'. So for many years now, most people buy Bitcoin not to buy stuff with it but hope that more and more people will buy Bitcoin. Without a proper use case, this is not much more than a ponzi-scheme.

I really hope that in the end, Bitcoin and it's correlates will be more than a system to move money from normal people to scammers and "institional investors" (aka those professional scammers that brought us multiple economic crisis), but I fail to see that at the moment. They might just milk bitcoin until regulation successfully stops it and all that will be left is the idea of currencies owned by FANG vs. digital currencies owned by goverments to tighten the control of it's citizen.

Looking at the developments and improvements of Bitcoin through the years, I could say that it has reached and achieved lots of achievements and goals. It still has a lot to achieve in the future like more adoptions. However, it's now being accepted by lots of merchants and huge businesses so I do not doubt that more surprising developments will happen in the future. Bitcoin couldn't please everyone but as more people get to know its capability, it's building a stronger foundation because of people's trust.

Are there metrics to measure how much is Bitcoin used to buy stuff? I totally see why merchants tend to integrate BTC as a payment method, but in the end it's for now use as long as most people go crazy about the last ATH.

I see how Bitcoin can fill a nische and I believe it's mere existent is important, but I doubt it will ever get general relevance outside of the investment market.
I mean, who would even consider to sell Bitcoin to buy a new car, at the moment? Or even the daily coffee? [PS.: don't want to imply it's a bad time to sell bitcoin, but to demonstrate that bitcoin is not used as a store of value or even a currency that you just happen to have and use in your daily life]
You might use a system with a middle-man that changes your USD into BTC instantaneously to buy a coffee, but that negates any potential benefit of Bitcoin as well so you could just use your regular credit card.

I believe the main goal of BTC is to reach a million dollar mark according to Satoshi. Next is, its adoption and we are seeing it, but I don't believe BTC is going to get accepted as a payment method anymore because of its price and its fees, as it can now only be seen as an investworthy asset class.

 1. There is no one who is able to set bitcoin goal.
2.  The inventor didn't think that much that how much his invention can successful.

There is no pre-defined goal indeed, but deep down we all know cryptocurrencies are better than what we use now. Fiat currencies belong to the past. We need to step on the acceleration and hurry up the adoption. It's just our old habits that are holding back.

I think Bitcoin's "destiny" is to both become the universal standard of value and mean of payment.

Yes, it always depends on how people view Bitcoin as a currency or an investment. Satoshi did not set a goal on how Bitcoin is being used, Satoshi just wanted a crypto currency that no single entities controlling the system or a decentralized system. That's why lots of people are using and adopting Bitcoin because of its feature. Sooner or later the market will grow even more because more and more people will start to trust and believe in crypto currency especially to Bitcoin.

It had already achieved its goal on the sense that people did  really saw about its true usage and benefit but talking on the adoption scale then we are still moving and to think that
Satoshis vision or goal is to make out a peer to peer payment without 3rd party intervention then thats already a success basing off on number
of people who do recognized this tech.

It might not be fully adopted yet but we can at least see the progress and yet big companies are now trying to adopt and integrate it which does
signify that this one is doing pretty well.

Lets be patient and lets see on how this far will go.

Theoretically, there's a huge difference between Btcoin and any fiat currency: because Bitcoin is both digital and decentralized, any store in the world can technically accept it if they have Internet connection, which is not true for fiat currency, as most countries restrict or don't allow foreign currency to be used for payments. So, in theory, Bitcoin could be mass adopted, if only people were willing to do so.

No one expect that this Bitcoin will be as big as it is now. In fact, people who had bitcoin before spend it unwisely. It's value just realized when price started to spike. And through out the years, people have seen so much potential and the goal already never ends. The only goal is when all the people around the world will discover and used it as for the day to day basis.

I think there are no stipulated or highlighted goals of Bitcoin but however, I believe one of the goals of Bitcoin which is to create a peer-to-peer method of transactions has been achieved for a very long time ago. Bitcoin is regarded as the best and most trusted coin hence making it more trustworthy than fiat; I think this is another goal achieved. Also, the aspect of decentralization where users can decide what happens to their asset while maintaining all manner of control whilst privacy is achieved in the all process; I think this is another goal achieved. Bitcoin has achieved a lot such as bringing people together from all part of the world to transact on a cheaper fee. Furthermore, I believe to an extent that Bitcoin has achieved that aspect of people using Bitcoin as a payment method but it is not as huge as it's meant to be, however I see it as progress and it's only a matter of time for more people to start using it as a payment method.

For me, bitcoin hasn't achieved its goal yet. Though mass adoption is increasing still only a few people know are well educated on what it is. Some people still think that bitcoin is illegal and it is used by criminals in their transaction. It will take some years to see if bitcoin will be acknowledged by most people, seeing the current situation I think that is possible.

Bitcoin as a payment method hasn't got much traction. On the other hand, I would even say that use of Bitcoin for payment purposes have gone down over the last 2-3 years. Currently it is being mostly used as a speculative investment asset. So I would say that Bitcoin was originally designed as a currency by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2008, but it ended up as a investment asset (similar to bullion).

I agree with you, but in my opinion there is the most important thing in owning bitcoin assets, we can store assets easily, no need to carry it anywhere and your assets will be safer, like during a disaster, all paper documents, other assets can be lost, but by storing your money in bitcoin it will be safer and easier to make transactions.

Bitcoin doesn't aim to replace fiat currency because it would be possible since bitcoin is a decentralized structure and fiat is supported by the government. So I think bitcoin had already achieved its goal of being a new payment system as a digital currency that bitcoin has become the new money on the internet and other cryptocurrencies, and we are only waiting for everyone to used bitcoin worldwide to fully achieved its goal.

Bitcoin has accomplished a lot over the last few years and deserves a lot of credit for it but has not achieved its goal yet.  Bitcoin is set to achieve global protection whereby everyone will accept its use in terms of payment methods and apply it to their business and transactions.

Bitcoin in a sense had a few different goals since it was released to the world and still, it is being treated differently by many investors. Some will say it is a speculative asset similar to stocks while others think of Bitcoin as a store of value that will help with extreme economic conditions like higher inflation or recession. Meanwhile, Bitcoin is also a form of money, a means of payment, and a method of transactions in a decentralized way. In my opinion, all this together is worth equal attention, and Bitcoin will succeed further without skipping any of the features it has shown so far.

There are no specific goals bitcoin is trying to achieve. As many above have correctly pointed, given that bitcoin is a fully decentralized system, in which rules are enforced not by some rulers in charge, but by neutral code that cannot be changed easily, no one can solely decide what ends we should move to or which means we should employ to achieve something. Bitcoin was created to solve specific problems, namely the problem of double-spending in digital systems and the problem of digital scarcity. It successfully solved both of these problems and also has proved its efficiency as digital cash and digital store of wealth.

Actually people thought otherwise about this technology and never thought to see the technology succeed but Bitcoin has proved so many-things wrong since inception. Basically Bitcoin has achieve and still achieving some level of good stuff in the world, people has made it demand increase which is why we saw some high price since novemeber, 2020. Though more Bitcoin usage will gradually unfold and it purpose and goals will be accomplish soon.

But how we must know what is the real goal of bitcoin...we must not forget that the bitcoin is created by one person and we dont really know what is her will and what he really want from bitcoin
Its treu that all of us want crypto to remplace fiat currencies but maybe this isnt nakamoto's goal

What if the goal of BTC is ours to create? What if Bitcoin is just a tool, a gift to make our world a better place?
We can use this instrument to have a standard of value in our world, to stop trading with money that loses its value (aka fiat currencies) or become more decentralized and dependent on entities whose intentions might not be for the wellbeing of the society.

As it have already being said by others in here, there is no specified or certain goal being set about what is the real goal of Bitcoin in the first place so what it have attained right now will just continue to improve and prosper benefiting us all who have been into it since the day it was created up until now that it is now moving forward and up as we can all see right now and it is now being appreciated and get to be recognized by many people compared to before that many people are criticizing its existence and importance. Although there are still lots of criticisms, but still a lot it much better right now for even big institutions are recognizing Bitcoin's worth and such may just continue to grow as technology continues to improve because it is where Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies relies and be capable of usage. Now the goal of Bitcoin will be just up into us based on our own perception of what it might look but as it is stated that there is no specified goal, then we can expect for it to just continue to grow and improve on the upcoming years of its existence.

I guess, if Satoshi can give his statement, I believe he will say that what bitcoin achieved up until now is already more than what he envisioned for this creation. With only a decade in existence, it already changed a lot of lives and not only one race, but all throughout the world. So I guess, the achievement of bitcoin today has already surpassed the initial goals for this invention.

Bitcoin does not have any particular goal and rather it's created to make our lives easier and help us with transactions across the border and P2P transaction without any third party getting involved. Even if there was a goal of Bitcoin then it would have been based on basic features of bitcoin rather than what we think of it today.

Well, I agree with you OP. Bitcoin has certainly come a long way and it has a long way to go. Many people are of the opinion that cryptocurrencies can't replace fiat ones. But they could co-exist. What is your take on this?
Fiat and crypto have their own role in the economic system. If people are looking for a new way to use the new economic model and crypto especially bitcoin can be a solution for this but it's about whether bitcoin already achieved its goal or not. There's no goal for bitcoin but some people may think the massive adoption is the real goal of bitcoin.
Bitcoin has the main achievement to be a solution for someone who didn't like to use the centralized economic system especially to did a payment.

Bitcoin is achieving that already, although this PayPal that came in now has kind of changed a lot on how I believed businesses would have accepted it. PayPal has an option for merchants to accept Bitcoin through PayPal, and a lot of Businesses might decide to go for that option instead of making use of Bitcoin direct , because the PayPal wouldn’t let anyone that’s using another wallet to make payment to that business unless they are making use of PayPal Bitcoin, so it wouldn’t be a good idea. But there are still businesses that are using Bitcoin.

I think we should start with question "What is standard of bitcoin achievement? is it technology, price, adoption or what?" After that let we divide achievement to some stage.

In my opinion bitcoin still not achieve his goals in any term. I believe that bitcoin can grow bigger than today

Bitcoin achieving a certain goal is too broad. We can already say that it achieved many milestones that is surely hard to surpass by new and old Cryptocurrencies. I still think that Bitcoin has no goal but have a purpose which is to be used in transactions which can result into an easier way of payments. Bitcoin's value is really reassuring and would just entice other people to study and learn it which would also result into another generation of people who would use Cryptocurrency and I guess that might be Bitcoin's goal - For every people to learn about it and use it properly.

Exactly. Because who's going to decide on what the definite goal is? Remember those altcoin projects that has pre-defined goals and specific roadmaps? There's a reason why Bitcoin doesn't have one— because Bitcoin doesn't have a centralized team that's making decisions for the project.

I think bitcoin still not achieve his goal. In my opinion  right now bitcoin price and his profit is very low. Before 2 year bitcoin was very strong but right now is not. Bitcoins amount decreased day by day. But i think it will be increase very soon.

As far as I can remember, Satoshi Nakamoto didn't state a specific ultimate goal for bitcoin. Most of the use case of bitcoin is just getting discovered as people embrace innovation in cryptocurrency space. IMO, bitcoin's goal will only be achieved if third-party institutions will not interfere to control the Bitcoin network itself but up to now, it is still impossible for them to impose regulation on it. What they can just do is to regulate exchanges and platforms that allow the transaction of Bitcoin. That likely means that the ultimate goal of Bitcoin is preservation which is really hard and we will see it after decades to see if Bitcoin's whitepaper is still being considered by the people in their transactions.

you can read this sentence on bitcoin whitepaper,
"A purely peer-to-peer version of electronic cash would allow online payments to be sent directly from one party to another without going through a financial institution"

there's no specific purpose mentioned on the whitepaper. according to the whitepaper, bitcoin purposes in general is:
1. to become P2P electronic cash.
2. independent, no financial institution needed (trustless).
3. to prevent the double-spending problem.

bitcoin already showed the capability to achieve these goals, despite the scalability problem and slow adoption to become a regular electronic cash system.

Still, it seems that Nakamoto hardly wanted bitcoin to become a toy for exchange players. On the contrary, I have recently developed a strong feeling that bitcoin, on the contrary, is narrowing its use cases and is increasingly becoming an asset that provides opportunities for speculation and investment for financial players. And all emerging derivatives focus solely on this, taking transactional and payment opportunities to the back burner. And let's not forget that the main majority of bitcoins are dead weight on user accounts.

Bitcoin does not have any kind of goal that would entirely make them stop to achieve more in the future, I honestly think that global protection would be one of their many goals in the future, and if we're talking about the future here then it's not a good factor for one business to settle for less when you could settle for more, Bitcoin is set to achieve milestones rather than goals, and I think that is also the objective of other cryptocurrencies.

We still have banks controlled by third party. One of the purposes of bitcoin is to be your own bank. Fiat currency is very much in use. While we are now able to send money borderless, some countries are yet to adopt cryptocurrency. Bitcoin transaction fee is still expensive. In effect Bitcoin is yet to achieve its full goal. Perhaps other altcoins might achieve what Bitcoin is meant to achieve unless the technology behind bitcoin improves - example, Lightining network.

It depends on how you’re seeing the goal. If you’re talking about being a peer to peer which I know is how it was defined by the developers of Bitcoin, that was achieved the moment they released and people started using it.

If you’re talking about being a global currency (which is kind of similar to what the developers had in mind as well) well, it kind of have also accomplished that too because it is now a currency that is working in so many countries and there are lots of using it. Then if you mean investment, well that was not part of the goals the developers had in mind, but Bitcoin is today considered as one of the best assets anyone can hold.

This is the real goal of Bitcoin written in the whitepaper of Bitcoin.

For usage as store of value, it is not necessary that the prices should remain stable. On the other hand, an asset which can be used as a store of value should have a constant, or increasing purchasing power. A perfect example is that of gold. It's price has increased by almost 100 times during the last one hundred years. But it's purchasing power has remained more or less constant.

The price itself is irrelevant, but the volatility and long term stability of the price is important if Bitcoin aims to be used widely for payment purposes. If it provides low fees is very debatable, it is only suited to move large amounts of money as if people would start to buy bread with it, transaction fee would be way too high.
Current state of Bitcoin is desperate, it is used for high risk speculation mostly. Merchants accept Bitcoin more and more as it becomes cheaper to achieve this as payment providers include it but without price stability almost nobody will use Bitcoin itself for daily payments in the future.
However, as most people are committed to get wealthy by investing in Bitcoin, the incentive for price stability is very low, therefore price will continue to be volatile making Bitcoin a Ponzi-Scheme for the most part.

When BTC price has stabilized for like 5 years, maybe it can then be used as store of value or as currency. Before that it will mainly be used as cash cow and high risk investment.

If an asset is known to be highly volatile you do not invest into it to store your value, people do not buy 1 BTC today and hope to receive the same purchasing power in 20 years, they buy 1 BTC because they believe the purchasing power of it will go 'to the moon' within the next 20 years.

So where is it written that the ultimate goal of bitcoin is to achieve global protection? And protection from what? Yeah, it was created to make a trustless payment system without involving third parties.
Unfortunately, at the current state it is almost impossible since there are many problems that needs to be addressed first. Fortunately, various solutions are being forwarded to solve the problems.

Doubted that it is going to rule over the world as it was not intended to be like that. The reason for its creation is to give an alternative out from fiat to digital currency and it looks like we are going to that way, not just too fast to its way. Being one of the major currencies that we're able to use someday is a big achievement and able to fulfill the dreams of the creator.

However, if we are going to assess the current situation like it was said we are yet rolling to make it possible. Not to replace fiat (as people think), no, it was just a currency.

And with big institutions that are now accepting bitcoin as a means of payment, i think this goal is now starting to be realized. And with massive education hopefully, i know it will be a great help to boost the usage of bitcoin since people are now starting to be aware on bitcoin.

I assume the same about the purpose of bitcoin. bitcoin will be a legal medium of exchange between countries without being limited by country system restrictions in transactions. so companies can easily use bitcoin without having to exchange fiat money from one country to another because in this case they use the same coin in transactions.

Bitcoin has achieved its goal a long time ago when it went from $1 to $100.
Do you think the goal of Bitcoin about the price? I don't think it is the goal of Bitcoin created by Satoshi. Satoshi created Bitcoin for an alternative of payment purpose that never uses the third parties. So, we can transfer it any time and with low fees. This is the real goal of Bitcoin written in the whitepaper of Bitcoin.

The main goal is that to use as a payment method and also a transaction as you mentioned that it has been written on whitepaper .Though it was the reason to bring it but it has opened the world to make a easy transaction system and the technology is the is the great innovation itself .We have gotten a huge platform and we all know that what is bitcoin and crypto for us .Not only a transaction system it has opened the idea of different earning way .It shows how smart the blockchain technology is .The crypto market is growing more faster and the using of the bitcoin are increasing daily .The price are just following it and the value is increasing .I think the idea has been successful and has archived the goal and also many more will come through it for sure .

Satoshi aimed bitcoin to become a means of payment like fiat. But i know its not created to replace fiat, but rather to serve as an alternative to fiat because fiat alone is irreplaceable knowing its fully centralized.

However, if we can make bitcoin as a global currency in the future, that will be a  greater achievement in guess in the future, but it will be a long waiting game when will it happen definitely.

If there will be a free education for all about bitcoin and crypto, i think people will gain more knowledge about its positive effects on us and how it will be properly utilize which put us in the end as the great beneficiaries. In this way, people wilel change their mindset on bitcoin and will create initiatives on how to spread its usefulness so it can gain massive adoption in the future. And once majority of the people are already inclined to it, then using it as a currency exactly like fiat will be more possible to happen.

Bitcoin has accomplished a lot over the last few years and deserves a lot of credit for it but has not achieved its goal yet.  Bitcoin is set to achieve global protection whereby everyone will accept its use in terms of payment methods and apply it to their business and transactions.
Adoption is something that dont have that specific timeframe or exact moment on where we do consider that it is already on its full extent and dont anticipate that we would
really be going into that point on which we do see that Bitcoin would become main payment method and every merchants and businesses would apply on this one.
Knowing that it would really be in personal choice

I think bitcoin should achieve its goal by finishing to mine all of the remaining bitcoin but no matter what we do it would entirely be done after almost a century before we could officially call it that it has succeeded its goal. The rest of what you guys been talking might be on the developers side or to the community side which will make the value to move.

Does bitcoin adoption really matters or the investment of the investors does?

every people have different opinion about bitcoin goal. they will say to be a great investment, or payment method, or the other extreme thing. we judge by habit, by what we do to bitcoin until now.
big adoption is main decision for me, to spread what the basic want, and people clear and use crypto for daily life. but, hard to tell to everyone, my experience just tell this to close or family.

I got your opinion but this is not just what we ended up telling our family and friends, global adoption is what we aim for. I do believe this comes in the future, adoption is seemingly growing strong, a lot of countries are into it already and they are now widely using Bitcoin in their place.
However, their numbers aren't big enough to make things changes, but despite this situation, we can still be hopeful that someday it can be fully realized and achieve the main goal to become a currency.

From your sincerity, bitcoin seems to have accomplished its main goals, from payment to popularity as well as investment, a diverse and recognized talent, maybe even as many members have said, its original goals were fulfilled much earlier than scheduled, now its service is only to increase variety and spaciousness. Besides that, Bitcoin is no longer living for itself, it is living under our hope, we are the ones who are writing more goals for it and asking for it to be achieved, instead of asking such easy question, we should ask whether we have achieved our goals or not.

Bitcoin was created to solve some problems connected with the fact that governments have a complete control over finances and can release as much money as they want disregarding inflation. Also Bitcoin was made to exclude an intermediary between the one who pays and the one who receives the payment. These two functions, Bitcoin is capable of performing, but it is still not so widely used.

Bitcoin will definitely achieve its goal if it will be used as a means of payment all over the world, and i think  the process has already started. So in few years from  now, we will witness the realization of its goal. But i believe this goal will be easier to achieve if the government itself will also see the positive side of bitcoin and gives a chance to adopt it. In the long run, we hope to see bitcoin as a legal currency like how fiat is being used.
^ I think the goal is not yet achieved, yes BTC was created to have an alternate payment method aside from fiat but for now as I witnessed, BTC was used to hold value and make this a valuable asset which they can store value and sell when there is a profit. Though there are some people who used it as a payment option and the majority of them were holding their coin. The demand and supply will speak the truth that people are usually holding rather than using it to purchase online. However, the legalization now of BTC is very common and there are few countries already did it.

So far Bitcoin has been very outstanding and I can proudly say it is doing Noble, but has it's goal been achieved??

The answer's NO, they're still so many aspects of Bitcoin that's yet to be perfected, most countries are yet to regulate the use of Bitcoin and accept it as a means of payment for commodities, this would be achieved in no long a time, maybe not 💯 of the would but hopefully up to 90% would.

I do believe also that bitcoin has not yet achieved the real goal and I do also believe that if ever Satoshi is still active in forum today or I hope he still safe and sound today I think his main goal for bitcoin has not yet reached. We've seen ups and downs of bitcoin for almost a decade now and finally even a small step at a time we have watched already a great progress from the market value but for me I think the true reason of existence of bitcoin is a quite bit far more to achieve but I am very certain that bitcoin will going to achieve it, the wide adoption and the common used of crypto in global economy will soon come to reality.

The point is what's the goal of Bitcoin? AFAIK, bitcoin was created to transfer cash in peer to peer manner. Decade after its launch, its widely used today for transferring funds. Goal is very much achieved so far for which bitcoin was created initially. We may say that it still has roam for more potential.

I believe the main goal of BTC is to reach a million dollar mark according to Satoshi. Next is, its adoption and we are seeing it, but I don't believe BTC is going to get accepted as a payment method anymore because of its price and its fees, as it can now only be seen as an investworthy asset class.

And it is for this reason that the government is still confused about how to deal with bitcoin and how to take a stand on one of these future technologies.
because for them this is like going forward and going backwards.
there are some impacts they receive when they participate in adopting this and there are also impacts when they prohibit it

Even from the start, there was never a clearly defined goal for what bitcoin was to become. It's creator(s) and devs certainly had an idea of what they would like to see, but such a goal was never predefined.

Parts of the whitepaper suggest what bitcoin was meant to fix, but there was never any criteria laid out as to what this would look like.

Although the real purpose of Bitcoin has not been achieved, because the majority of countries still reject Bitcoin as a means of payment. But that
doesn't stop Bitcoin from continuing to grow and the Bitcoin adoption process is also expanding. Even Bitcoin surprised everyone, including
Satoshi Nakamoto himself, whose Bitcoin price continued to rise significantly. Nobody ever thought Bitcoin was so good as a digital asset,
no wonder more people are holding Bitcoin than using Bitcoin as payment. I don't think it's a problem Bitcoin hasn't reached its main goal,
at least Bitcoin has provided many benefits to many people around the world. And that's a very good thing, because Bitcoin has made the lives of
many people better.

What do you mean, "there was never a clearly defined goal"? I think it is pretty clear from the title of the whitepaper what its primary goal is.
Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System.

I believe bitcoin has achieved its goal and serves a purpose regardless of its current value. And I believe bitcoin has matured and is now ready for mainstream adoption.

At the beginning of its emergence I honestly did not know the true purpose of bitcoin. Even if now, let's say bitcoin has reached its biggest goal, I think there is a new goal to be achieved next. The price increase from year to year, in my opinion, can be said to be an extraordinary achievement.

BTC achieved its goal the moment it jump-started all this change in how we view the financial aspect of our lives. There is not much that it needs to do. I am not sure why everyone expects that BTC should be universally accepted, BTC does not need the be the savior of humanity nor the end all be all, just a step in the right direction.

With the continuous development of Bitcoin to the extent of achieving the main goal to become legally considered as a currency is a little bit way too far from it. We are still on the low level of adoption. Even we could see that many countries are in support of crypto particularly with Bitcoin, however, there are still a billion individuals who are not yet convinced with its purpose and useful benefits we get from them. As these people never change their insights towards Bitcoin, it was very slim to have this fullest adoption ever.

I think the purpose of why BTC was created was for financial freedom over our transactions. As long as there are countries who oppose to this kind of view, I doubt that we can say that it already has achieved its goal.

Another thing, like what some had mentioned, there is no actual 'pre-defined goal' for BTC. A goal and a purpose is relatively different and it will continue to achieve its goal for as long as countries adhere to its legality. But to give some credit, I do think that we already experienced its effects on our transactions- mostly it is overwhelmingly positive!

^ The main purpose is decentralization. Digital currency is not a new thing, money transfers from a bank account are also digital, cause when you send money only digits have been changed, no physical thing is exchanged until you cash out. Paypal is also digital. But the main difference between these conventional systems with Bitcoin is decentralization.

Satoshi created Bitcoin cause he wanted people to transact between themself without being controlled by the government or any other 3rd party. that's goal is 100% achieved now.
No matter how the govt. treat this, maybe it will take some more time to adopt Bitcoin globally but there is no doubt the goal is achieved, every Bitcoin user has achieved freedom now with their own funds.

based on the data I read on a news some time ago, currently bitcoin users are less than 2% of the world's population...

Satoshi did not create Bitcoin so that everyone could use Bitcoin, He actually wanted to make a payment system that is independent, no one has the power to control or alter the transactions in Bitcoin that conventional Banks can do.

From, Satoshi's perspective, it truly gained its success. many hackers tried to hack Bitcoins, but they failed. many technicians wanted to crack private keys but they are extremely failed. The government wanted to regulate the Bitcoin system but they also failed badly, the government tried to ban Bitcoin but they failed to prevent people to use Bitcoin. Bitcoin is a unique system, no one can take over it.

I think reaching that certain amount is not really the main goal of bitcoin but its more on the global adoption for bitcoin as a payment system. I can see that we are starting to create massive adoption but if we can help aware the people about bitcoin's potentials and advantages, then most likely that they will start putting their interest on it and widen their knowledge through in depth research. And when bitcoin starts to be used as a means of payment, then eventually its own value will increase since there will be a huge demand on bitcoin.

Since the beginning Bitcoin was created not to be a digital asset, but as a payment system without the need to involve a third party. So Bitcoin
reaching a price of $100k is not the goal of Bitcoin, the increase in the price of Bitcoin is only an effect that occurs  because the demand for
Bitcoin continues to increase, while the supply of Bitcoin is limited. This is very different from fiat, which is decreasing in value due to inflation.
Therefore we do not need to worry about the price of Bitcoin failing to reach the price of $100k, as long as massive adoption continues,
will make a lot of people use Bitcoin and it will slowly continue to push the price of Bitcoin even higher. Even though there are countries that
have legalized Bitcoin as a legal tender, that doesn't mean Bitcoin has achieved its goal. I think the main purpose of Bitcoin is if Bitcoin can be
legalized in the majority of countries in the world as payment. Not that Bitcoin will replace fiat, but at least Bitcoin can be a payment alternative.
