eCoffee Card does have the functionality to upload funds onto the platform and use it at the cafe. It appears that neither Coffee Express or Coffee For You! use this though. Maybe you could have a chat to their management and see if they'd like to?

We are periodically in touch with bit coin POS providers about updates and advancements and are well positioned to implement this should there be enough demand to do so."

I think the way you can get a business to accept bitcoin is saying they have won to represent bitcoin and help them bring more money to  there business by doing so and will be making history.

How much is the BTC prize? Off-line is out of limit for me but I might spend a half an hour or so talking to a close-minded people trying to persuade them to the Coin side if it worth it :) edit: seen it's 0.01 and it's good what about the other question? . also do we have to convince them to use BTC's to win? and who chooses the winners?

I tried doing this to turkish stores
they are either controlled by this one huge corporation (which i cant bother to go to) or very small businesses which hardly makes the end of the month.
Its just not "good" enough for the Turkish market.

We even tried going to a company which makes automated kiosks and whatnots, but the finance person there knowingly said he wont allow transactions done with BTC.
I also have close relations with the helper of a VP in Turkey's leading bank, and he thinks this whole thing is completely bullcrap as well.

We, as a market is not ready for this, and with the distrust from bankers (which i agree with some as well) its going to be incredibly hard to do in Turkey, and many other 3rd world countries where many people can not even do with "real/old world currency"...

I think we need to stop the drive for merchant adoption, and start drumming up ways to just get more people genuinely interested in whats going on here.

create a bitcoin user = maybe he will speak positively about it to others and play around with btc from time to time
Create a bitcoin evangeslist = at least a few of his closest friends will try it out and everyone he meets will have a different outlook on it
Create a bitcoin merchant = Give people a convenient offramp to spend their bitcoins and then MAYBE buy more?

I dunno, merchant adoption is a good endgoal, but I had to get into the real world a little bit and realize that even in my city which could be considered one of the bitcoin hubs of the world, is largely a rarity running into a bitcoin user that is STILL a user and didn't just stumble across it or hear something about it from the silk road days.

Quite a shame, but I really want to get more people crazy about it directly.  Merchant adoption comes from consumer demand, and quite frankly, the consumer demand, for most businesses, especially brick and mortar, don't care.  Thats the harsh reality.  I am going to continue to buy bitcoin and continue to tell people about it, but the merchant adoption push is a little too soon in my opinion.  Now if I heard rumors of a merchant that MIGHT be thinking of accepting, I'll ask to schedule a meeting with that person, to help get them started.

Merchant adoption is all fine and good, but lets not kid ourselves about how far along we are in this process.

I have bought some good courses there in the past, so I sent them this message:

Hi,

I've been a customer here for a few months now and I'm really impressed with the sheer amount of courses available.
I do have one suggestion that could make my experience much better, I would like to see some alternative methods of payment like Bitcoin for example.
Would it be possible to add Bitcoin as an alternative method of payment?

Sincerely,

I've sent an e-mail to Mojang (creators of Minecraft) to implement bitcoin.
I hope I get a second entry on this page for it ;)

Message:
Hello Mojang Support,

I was wondering if you guys could consider using Bitcoin as a payment option. I think implementing this would not be very hard to do through Bitpay for example and it would save you a lot in transaction fees compared to Paypal.

Let me know if you would consider this and if you plan to implement this.

Thanks!

things like this WILL get attention if enough people send them in.

the customer service agents that answer the tickets will eventually
tell their supervisors "People are asking about bitcoin", and it will
go up the chain.

The more consistent the requests, the more likely they will
be taken seriously and eventually acted upon on.

But it would be best if we could put this in escrow.

So you want to give 0.01 per page until 0.05 is given away, so basically for 5 pages?
You can pay directly to the winners, that way we won't need to make an escrow.

You are correct. Emailing companies you have no previous dealings with and start nagging about bitcoin, can be considered spamming.

OP does not want members to do that. He encourages members to contact businesses "you frequent but doesn't accept bitcoin". It's written in the first post under the "How to win prizes" section.

I just sent this off to one of my favorite companies. Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company. They produce the American Spirit line of tobacco products. They are additive free and they even have an organic tobacco cigarette.
I hope I win!   ;D   I also hope I lose to an even better email!

*Begin Email*
Hello SFNTC,
I previously wrote to you about NYS prices of your product due to excessive taxation.
Today I write for 3 others reasons.
First, there is a show on Netflix I've seen titled "American Horror Story". Season 1 Episode 11, at 9:19 minutes, the actor is smoking at the table. She is smoking a marlboro, you can tell by the pack. Except 10 seconds later we see her with a cigarette in her mouth and it is an American Spirit. I know because I see the Thunderbird clearly on the cigarette. Rewinding the video I noticed that in fact the marlboros are "morleys". They're supposed to look like marbs, but what is the actors personal choice....
American Spirit!
Are you aware your product was in this show?

The 2nd reason I write is because I found this article today. http://abcnews.go.com/Business/story?id=89207
Are you able to direct ship your product? Will that allow me to order my product of choice and avoid state taxes because it is an internet sale? I want to use your product over the competitions, but at $11.80/pack I just can not justify this cost. Perhaps direct sales will enable me to save some money and thereby return to you as a loyal customer?

Finally, to make the transition to direct sales even easier, I would suggest you consider adopting Bitcoin as an acceptabloe form of payment. This could allow you to accept payment from sources worldwide! Typical payment middlemen can be disintermediated, leaving more money in yours and mine pockets.
From a customer willing to pay with bitcoin, I would suggest if you do not feel informed as to what Bitcoin is, well this would be my go to explanation which I encourage you to read and consider.
http://evoorhees.blogspot.com/2012/04/bitcoin-libertarian-introduction.html

Your loyal customer,
As long as government isn't meddling in our voluntary association,
LAMarcellus
*End email*

When I get a response from them I will share it here!

Next up on my list of companies to email....
OPEC!

Done, I raised our prize as well.

So, now everyone can get up to 0.04 for every page of this thread.

Btw, we have to give prizes for page #3, which one do you choose?
You can just reply to a qualifying post of your choice and let him know that he wins and how to claim the prize.
Make it bolded or something :)
I think I am the only one who is eligible for a prize on page 3,  and it would be silly to send myself a prize for that.

Bitcoin Users:
Promote Bitcoin to a business you frequent and win prizes

Business Owners:
Sponsor a prize and be featured in this post permanently

How to win prizes

1. Think of a business that you frequent but doesn't accept bitcoin (online or not)
2. Tell them how bitcoin could benefit them and give relevant real life examples (similar business successes)
3. Post the email you sent here, or write down the conversation if it was real life
4. Sponsors from the forum will randomly pick one winner for EVERY page (can win multiple prizes each page!)
(if no business comes to mind, just hit again one of those already posted)

We just got moved to Games and rounds after being few weeks in the main forum.
This campaign will die here :(

I understand the mod's point of view. Any thread where coins could potentially be given out should not be in the main forum where it is primarily for discussions. I believe the mod might have mistaken this thread being similar to your other giveaway topic. You can PM the mod asking him to reconsider moving the thread back, cos this a not a game, it's about promoting bitcoin to businesses.

Yes, I changed the title hoping to get more attention from users, but unfortunately it made look the thread like it doesn't belong in the main forum. Anyway, messaged the mods and hoping for the best :)

This is a fun idea and I hope it catches on.  I hope to win a prize or two myself. :)

The chance to win is pretty high, currently there is about 1 entry per page, so the chance of winning is 100% :)

OP should lock this thread so no one can post any email clippings here.
