Title: do you trust social media influencers on cryptocurrencies.
Post by: BayAngelo on December 31, 2020, 05:29:24 PM
Honestly, i have followed lots of twitter influencers and i can say that most of them are active during bull market and goes silent when the market is dull. you see post like btc pumping, lets go to the moon and so on whenever the market turns green. looks like most jump out from Nowhere to proclaim the BTC goodness. My opinion, if they failed to inform their followers and  listeners to be careful and never to be greedy, then they are not truly crypto influencers. all they wanted to do is dump on their fallowers and move on.
My belief is that whatever goes up will surely comes down and btc and other crypto will correct sooner or later and we might wait for months again before another major outbreak like we are experiencing  now. Do not go all out on BTC.

Cryptocurrencies are decentralized so you are not supposed to anyone's prediction whether it is bullish or bearish because they also the same as you when it comes to cryptos, they just pretend to know everything to make them more attractive and gain a few more audience because that is how celebrities are making money so don't give them chance if you don't want anyone to become such one.

A good influencer is that he always makes sure to give advice and keeps on reminding his followers that it's not financial advice and there's a risk for every action that they do. A shill influencer is only making his pocket full when he used to advertise repetitively a project that he seems to be paid and it's part of them being an influencer. Those promotions are normal for them and you as a viewer and follower, can just skip those things and just always go to the main point of that video you're watching.

for me influencers can't easily say that bitcoin will go up, so they encourage their followers to join in and follow what he has to say. Remember that we are traders, where a trader has his own principles. If you only follow when the influencer brags, then what if the influencer is silent? is our trade also silent?
plus you say that "they are active when the market is bull and silent when the market is sluggish". How is it different today when the news on television finds out that bitcoin price has crossed $ 30.000 and is silent when bitcoin is priced at $ 10.000?

Do not the fooled, those influencers are also crypto investors too, they are intentionally creating FOMO to get their own chance of dumping on people and exiting the market at the right time, safe yourself the respect and build your own strategy, there is always risks involved with crypto investments

I was following an influencer and a well known guy which was facing some hard days back in 2017, he's McAfee. He was shilling privacy coins and he was buying and holding big bags of them before any tweet. The plan was to shill these coins and dump them later to his followers, people were fomoing and buying insanely, he did it a couple of times i think. I was following crypt0 on youtube and omar turned to be a good and an honest guy. You should know whom to follow before giving your trust, that's my advice.

I don't really think that we could trust social media influencers on crytocurrencies because endorsements are all about business regardless if they really know what they are promoting. It is hard to believe what social media influencers are promoting because some of them are not really educated of what thay are promoting. Advertisments always deceive us.

There is a price for every tweet they do. I remember someone leakan information about how much was paid to John Mcafee to shill a coin thru his tweet. And influecer is paid to do what they are doing as its a marketing gimmick for the team.

A new company like a team that will release a token will do everything to make their product widely known and hiring an social media influencer is on of the best practice this digital age.

Why on earth will i trust someone who is paid to make some fomo about a particular project?, they are not to be trusted becasue they are doing something they don't believe in. Social media influencers has done more harm to gullible cryptocurrency investors than we can debate, they sometimes ago made me loss something i cherish in 2017, so, i hate them when they pretend to preach what they don't believe to followers in order to get rewards from the pay-master. Whenever i see a project be promoted by a social media influencers then no way for me to make investment with such project.

i know so many bad influencers and they made me think that the term influencer is bad . i thought i will only experience that on other social media where no crypto is involved but you made me realize that they also exist in crypto niche but if theres bad there must be few that are good . a good influencer will show good stuffs only and if its in crypto , they will teach their followers if what is it and how does it work so that followers know what to expect . true good influencer gives updates from time to time and not just if when the market is healthy .

Yeah, I also do not like people who just keep shouting about bulls and moons especially when they have been proven wrong dozens of time now as we have entered into a bull market even a kid can tell that top coins will moon so no surprises.

Trust the social media influencers? No you shouldn't. High chance they are getting paid to promote a shit project or coins. They will shill as long as they are paid. Everything they say is scripted written by those payers. Around 99% of those "social media influencers" know nothing about the project they are promoting.
I would stay stay away from them. Most of those influencers are scams. Funny (but not surprised) how we see those influencers getting exposed daily.

My Simple answer is a big No.  I don't trust them but I consider their input and weigh if there is truth in it since there is no harm in having more information to verify.  Most of the influencers are paid shills or have a motive behind hyping a certain kind of cryptocurrency.  That said, being paid/self motive already beat the thing called being unbiased.

Nope because that’s too risky and not all influencers will share their thought about cryptocurrency seriously since some of them will do that for the sake of money. You have to know cryptocurrency on your own and don’t just listen to the hype of anyone and don’t invest out of FOMO. Cryptocurrency is very risky and if you keep on depending to anyone, then you might lose the money again.

Influential persons are people like us. Cryptocurrency is still a new phenomenon in our life and we are all just gaining experience in it. The opinion of the so-called influencers can be heard, but this should not be a guide to action, but only as a recommendation of one of the members of this market. We ourselves must analyze the current situation in the cryptocurrency market and there should be no authorities in this.

Influencers are very important to a project, influencers are a marketing strategy so it's only natural that the coins / tokens promoted by them price will pump.
but not all influencers can do that, depending on the influence they exert on their followers on social media.
be careful don't be easily attracted, it doesn't mean the project they are promoting is Legit.

I have bad experiences with social media influencers, in 2018 I followed the advice of influencers and ended up having a big loss in the end.
I think social media influencers are doing promotion projects for their own benefit, sometimes the projects they promote they have bought
early at low prices. After they promote and many interested investors, they will dump the projects.

In other words, many social media influencers use investors for personal gain. So always do research first before deciding to buy coins,
and most importantly don't use all the capital we have for investing in cryptocurrency.

Indeed it is very important but the question is, as an investor do you trust them?  I am hesitant  to say yes because lots of them are being paid to advertise a certain cryptocurrency.  After knowing Mcafee,  I never believe anything what an influencer said unless I do a research on them and study that cryptocurrency.

The main motive of these socmed influencers is indeed to gain money as much as they can.
How many influencers have you seen doing charity work and spending their money to less unfortunate people?
Not very many or should I say, very rare that you will encounter a genuine social media influencer helping other people.
Most of them are being paid by those projects they are promoting, so they don't care if the project is legit or not.
I guess, you've seen some of them posting messages in telegram offering their services in exchange of coins or fiat money.
So bottomline, I really don't believe or trust these influencers. Better trust your own instinct.

This is not true. I don't know how important influencers can be to a project, most of this people you call influencers or experts are only but (paid) shills and nothing more, they can't determine a projects success or failure and Investors shouldn't invest in a project cause this or that Influencer made comments about the project, at most it could be a pump and dump project and the influencers would be around during the pump, but soon when the coin dumps, the investors are left alone, with their losses.

I don't trust influencers or anyone who receives payments to talk about a project or give trading advice and other whatnots, in cryptocurrency, you must learn to do your research yourself, trust your discretion alone, cause you're the one bearing the risk in the end, and the profits as well.

They were wanna taking the benefits from their followers and we could take mcafee as the best example of how the crypto influencer can fool its follower for money.
This time he is getting jailed and that proves if that guy was a scammer. he got million dollars from doing varius promotions for the scam crypto.

I mean, trusting social media influencer with your investment move means you take them as your financial advisor and that's just so wrong in many ways.
They might not have the capability to make the right decision and suggesting out of their guts. It's your money and you should not follow u professional advice otherwise you will bear the consequences because if anything bad happens, its you that lost your money so in a nutshell, I dont trust any of them.

I do not trust anyone of them nor ever look towards their predictions, because they are doing so for their own benefits. For example, some of them gets paid to promote projects and will say all the good things, present the good interviews they had and so on, but most of them if not all of them, don't get paid in the project's token, so if you follow whatever review they made, that's up to you. On the other hand, the other class of influencers that jumps out during a green market should be avoided totally, because it is people like them that entices their followers into chasing the green market and when it dumps, they will remind you of the need to invest your spare and so on. If I can recall too, some of them also claims to experts and it is them that gave many predictions for several coins which never worked.
Therefore, I agree with you completely, know when to enter the market be it Bitcoin or other good coins, always invest what you can afford and if you must chase the moving market make sure to use a fund you can afford to lose, such that you can hold long term if it doesn't go as you planned without being bothered.

Honestly speaking hardly you will find genuine social media influencers on cryptocurrencies. As you said they come out when the market is green and disappears when the market turns bearish. This is a common thing. The market is like a jumping ball if it goes up it has to come down too So always be careful when you following the bull run blindly. Most of the influencer target to gain the follower & after that their target is to create a paid signal group and charge from the followers who are interested to get signal from them.

An influencer marketing strategy is implemented to attract and encourage users/investors. They target a wide range of audiences for an easy process of disseminating information and promotion. Honestly, it is difficult to trust any of those so-called influences as there is a chance that it will induce you into developing a passive decision. Some of them are just manipulating their followers as they have gained their trust. Consequently, I choose to stay away from listening and believing them as I can evaluate the market situation myself or any project that I find interesting.

There are several influencers across the world in crypto community but one thing for sure is no one has the ability to predict the exact price, yes I agree most of predictions works that is based on the analysis like the way social media influencers are sharing their opinion. Crypto is not like stock market many so called experts have failed on their predictions so it's always better research on our own rather than trusting others. If money is involved automatically risk has been involved so never ever trust anyone in this community.

Half of social media influencers are shillers, that's the fact.
They most of the time hid behind bitcoin and stylishly promote other altcoins which they hold bags and when this market pump, they sold and leave you hanging with loss.
Telegram crypto signals aren't excluded, I make sure I look at their content as educational and not Financially.

So, these people doesn't have any influence over the cryptocurrencies. Most of the time these people without understanding the core value promote projects just for money. Believing the words of these people, more investments were attracted by lot of scam projects.

Most social media influencers are just being paid to promote or endorse something so it's really hard to trust them. Some of them are just spreading fud for referrals which will only be beneficial to them. They might be a few numbers of trusted influencers but I guess it's still better to do our own research than to rely on social media influencers.

Social media influencers is the way how to promote some project and make investor interested, without Social media influencers many project failed because investor do not know how development of some project and how going so far with road map and listing coin. Maybe with media social give positive impact how ICO and investment coin can increase to higher price by investor excited, without investor and media social project investment is nothing.

They not need to make a noise when btc is at its bull because people will already know that by themself but the best time to show up and encourage people is when the market is in bear because if people will buy the market will recover and boom

They can still make a profit that way but with less effort .

If influencers are confident enough that their followers are going to stick with them and follow them , they won't be afraid to do crazy things but if influencers are caring to his followers he will only influence them in a fair manner .

It is a 2-way thing, there are some of them that have good track record shilling projects but there are some all they do is to shill a project and dump on you. The one you see that after shilling a project the price dump, never listen to him/her again. You need to know that it is your money that you are investing into this projects, if a tokens has pumped before being shilled do not buy, because that is a sign of inside trading

The name they give themselves say it all, they are influencers and the question I ask myself is why I would want to be influenced by someone when it comes to my financial decisions? There is no valid reason for that, if you do not know what to do with your money that is a sign that you should improve yourself in that aspect and not a sign that you should try to get external help, because no mater how good that help could be it is always going to be inferior to what you could do on your own.

A lot of people pretending to be social media influencers particularly into cryptocurrency. Actually, there is no wrong if we follow them, listen to them but we should also have to think if they are also saying the right things about crypto. if these people are also crypto holders, they might know more about it but if they are not, they are talking nonsense.

I don't trust crypto influencers or other social media or even cryptocurrency experts, I just use them as references and don't trust them completely. in this industry there is nothing you can trust, let alone fluctuating crypto prices that cannot be used as a benchmark. As an investor, you need to really research more about the projects you want to take part in, manage your money properly, and not be greedy.
You wrong when not believe with crypto influencers social media, look last tweet from Elon Musk and check whap happen with DOGE coin after his tweet, price pump just few second from his tweet so its most important if you wanna success in cryptocurrency you need to check social media and waiting for what new update giving by some one have big change for cryptocurrency.

One should not just trust influencers, because we already know that influencers are someone who works for pay, so they will
always promote any project positively and attractive, so that their followers grow, and it can make a lot of money for them.

That's frank but true, there's reason why these influencers spending their time creating some videos and posts. It's because they are getting paid otherwise they won't even move their finger to get out some effort.
Social media influencers is the last person people should trust, they are just promoting, promoting and promoting except very few.

No one should take what a social media influencer as a means of getting information or advice on making investments decisions. Those social media influencers are paid for whatever they are to say about a project or investment platform. And you should know that whoever pays the piper dictates the tune.
You're right. Maybe after you get information from the social media influencer, you must search for the other info to know if they are right. I am sure you can get many things that you should have to decide to invest or not later, so you do not pick a wrong investment in the wrong project. If you just follow whatever they say, you can waste your time and money because you do not search for another review.
Doesn't that kind of depends on the information you are getting from them? I mean I do not trust any social media influencer ever about a new project going high, or even bitcoin going high, whenever they speculate on price of something I completely ignore them all together.

However don't you think when they share a news with you, it is important to check that out and also research if it is true or not? This is news after all, like if I hear someone say "grayscale bought another 100 million dollars worth of bitcoin" I do check if that is true or not, instead of just completely ignore it, that would be a lot more different than the ones that says "xyzcoin will go moon!! buy now!!" type of posts which is obvious that they got paid, there is no reason to care about those ones. At the end of the day we should focus on what they share, and not who shares it.

I don't follow any influencers. I sometime visit their profiles on social media channels. I sometime watch their videos on youtube and linkedin. but I never make my investment decisions bases of those so called influencer's speculations and signals.
so those influencers are totally failed to influence me and my crypto life. I always do my own due diligence. do my own research and then I invest in crypto market. which I don't do too often. I hardly invest in something nowadays.

There is no question of too big forecasts, since only the Almighty can do it.

There are several youtube guys that I subscribed to because I like what they're saying to their video. There are channels that review tokens which they are also updating their followers about what is about to happen to the project.

I followed many projects and there are some that I don't know and I'm a bit lazy reading about the project but I end up learning about the project when they feature it. I feel enlightened when I know about the project and helps me decide whether to buy some or not.

Totally agree with what you are saying, most Crypto influencers only work to create some interesting sensations, because they are basically being paid for it, so don't trust what they are doing, just look for references and if necessary be reviewed repeatedly.
People get too egoist with power and that causes the biggest problems. Normally when a new twitter account starts sharing good news, literally just news, get it from somewhere and share it with the world, and basically become something decent, with a few followers, they start to become more opinion oriented because they got followers.

Now consider this times a thousand, when someone gets to be over 100k+ followers, they stop sharing just news, they share their opinions like they are the rule and when they are wrong they just do not even acknowledge they were wrong and they move to next opinion already and share that, which becomes toxic. That is the problem with influencers, they start off well and they have good intentions but the more followers they have and the more people share their love for them, they become even more dangerous than their intentions.

I think I would rely on their reliability before completely trusting them. Social media platforms are very broad and might be confusing and misleading at some point. Fame might be on someone but that doesn't mean you are supposed to believe them or hold on to their predictions. Even though they are influencers, you should always stay on your mind and make sure that you will base your beliefs through your own spectation and analysis so that you can think more straightforward.

No I don't fully relly on their coments or ads or whatever it is. I know social media platforms are are very good for collecting data about anything but when it's comes to promotion as a consumer it would not be a best choice to believe in all. And in the investment sector it's kind of risky. So I would suggest if you saw or know something from someone in social media always do some research on your own first then go for any kind of investment.

During the ICO boom some of the projects were able to purchase many notable sports and other celebrities to promote their projects and that included scam projects and those celebrities got into trouble by the authorities for promoting them and it clearly shows that you could manipulate the market by attaching a celebrity for their promotion and everyone learned their lessons from their past mistakes.

Majority of the people invest in projects or new cryptocurrencies hoping that they could profit from it but the scams burned a lot of investors and still people are not learning their lesson.

I just follow social media influencers to get informed if something new is up but still the final decision making comes from me. I have my own mind to decide on my own so why bother trusting social media influencers when I can just barely do it on my own. I am not generalizing but there are biased influencers which can be misleading to its followers and if you have encountered such kind of influencer, then you might get lead into a wrong path. Just treat them to influence you on knowing something up new and verify it on your own. Follow it if it have been proven to be true but not at all times since you were the one to benefit or regret upon following them. Think on your own and lead your own way on crypto. Learning starts by trusting on your own and not being dependent into anyone.

Well, you called them social media influencers, and guess what they do? Social media influencing is their business, and they will be ready to do anything or promote/shill any coin on pages for money or for whatever benefit they are going to get from doing it.

So, it’s not whatever they tell you that you’re going to believe, you have to be very careful and do your own research when the so called social media influencers tells you what to do. Don’t be too quick to run and go invest in coins just because they told you that it is good or something, they can be paid by any team to shill their coins or tokens.

this is what influencing people is. isn't it? they say literally anything no matter if that is correct or wrong. and their followers blindly believe and agree with them and more worst is that those followers even try to convince others.
by doing this they get a lot of referrals. they generate sales on their affliate links and they get huge payments for endorsing random projects. thats all what they want and get. they don't care about their audiences and their lose.
so just watch them for fun and do not invest bases of their guidelines or endorsments.

Same with my own thoughts too. I am not following nor trust social media influencers on crypto because i know they are being paid with that. I'll always go with my own decision too without the influence of others. They are just the same with us. It would be better to stand on our own on what we think is better and possible than trusting on them.
It is just common sense really, those influencers most likely do not know more about the market than what we do so we do not really need their advice, and the fact they are being paid or they have an economic incentive to say something just means their opinion is distorted and we should not listen to them because they are being paid to say something positive or negative about a particular coin, as such before they even open their mouth their opinions are already useless and who wants to follow someone like that?

No I don't normally. This crypto space is highly depends on marketing band social media marketing is a huge part of it. Many crypto projects pay high amount to the influencer to say something about the project. Some of them are good some of them are nothing but scams. So good company s also promoting their products. So when ever you are knowing something from your favorite influencer always cross check them before investing on that projects.

Completely only Fomo in the fast time and in this trade is quite high risk. Like Elon Musk who in my opinion is still under the misuse of the media because every Tweet he makes makes the market shift in fast time. in this trade of course has a high risk. It is not uncommon for people to be trapped in a high price position and the price has experienced a dump
I would probably 100% distrust influencers promoting a particular project or coin. but Elon is different, he understands what he is writing and also he is also relevant to technology and crypto because as I know that he is the former CEO of Dogecoin. just like if a softbank or warren buffet wants to buy a stock, surely a stock will increase in value. So it doesn't matter to me if Elon promotes crypto as long as he knows exactly what he's writing

Social media influencers are no more knowledgeable about cryptocurrency, when compared to you or me. Their recommendations are purely based on their own monetary benefits. In some cases they get paid to promote certain coins and in other instances these people may be owning large quantities of coins or tokens that they are promoting. While there is nothing wrong in investing in such coins, I would say that you need to do careful research on your own before doing that.
It is very unfortunate and we gonna call this a business. Money is above all, that what I saw this time, the more money you have, the more influential you are. And these innocent and NO-HOW media influencers take that offer without knowing what will happen next or they are dragging one's life to hell. However, as people grasp some learning and more market awareness plus their experiences it teaches them not to listen and believe this kind of curse. They are acted base of their own thinking, not coming from these influencer.

Even they are supporting one particular project, after seeing how dogecoins is performing these days, from that I am coming to a conclusion that following influential people will not be a big problem and definitely will be helping to make easy profits. Because, when people are shilling for their own benefit, and if we are good to make use of them with proper cautionary steps, then we not go for following them?

Honestly so far I'm not following any of social media influencers but I'm just planning to do so; that way I could make some easy profits in the short period of time; only time knows that I am right or wrong.

No, I don't trust social media influencers regards anything. It can be crypto currency, a product or a service, doesn't matter, they aren't to be trusted. The only benefit you can find on their advertisements is that some influencers are popular and may lead a FOMO wave, so if you want to speculate and risk some money to make fast profit it might be interesting for you on this particular situation to follow their advices.
However in general, investors must do their own research and look for more feedbacks before investing in crypto currency, preferentially feedbacks from real crypto investors from different platforms and forums.
