Title: Wallet experience
Post by: Theoboy on January 14, 2021, 10:54:29 AM
Hello,
I want to share a little experience I had with my wallet a few days back.
I bought some TRC20 token some days ago(TONS), and since the token is under the TRC20 blockchain I decided to use my Tron wallet address to receive the token.
But along the line the was an issue I encountered;
The transaction was successful but I didn't see the token on my wallet (Trust wallet); immediately I concluded that my token was missing. Then I had second thoughts.
What if my token was still there?
What if the Trust wallet don't accept tokens?
This questions I asked my self.
I did some research and told my self that my token can't just go like that, i then took my TRC20 wallet address and went to the Tron scan, scanned the address and my token were still there.
Then I used a Tron wallet to import my Trust wallet and I saw my tokens

Just want to share my experience, in case someone here has the same problem I had will know the solution.

That's fine but this is probably the wrong board for a topic like this. This is the bitcoin section.

You usually have to add tokens manually to make them visible, good idea that you searched on explorer.

Maybe the reason why your TRC20 tokens weren't visible is because you didn't have any TRON in your wallet, (aka on that address).
There was a similar thread to yours a few weeks back. Have a look at I cant see my USDT TRC-20 tokens in Ledger Live. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5304736.0)

The user used Ledger Live and sent Tether to his Tron account. But the app never showed the transaction until he deposited TRON tokens on the same address.
As soon as I deposited some Tron tokens to my account my USDT tokens became visible in Ledger Live. The only reason I can think of why they made it this way is that you cant spend a TRC-20 token without owning Tron to pay the fees with. This must result in a lot of confusion with the users.

Be wary of using this token, even if you solve the problem and show that token, many of them are considered central and can easily be frozen in your wallet.
Hodling tokens is a waste of time, they lose their value in the long run, they can be frozen, untrusted wallets and you will need fees to convert them.

Despite all the risks, it is best to keep it on the platforms. And sending reliable coins/tokens to the wallets or cold storage.

It is good that you didn't relent and conclude it's lost but took a step further to look for a solution.
Just in case of another scenario with another token; before sending a token, always make findings to know the wallet that supports your token, many tokens are out there and Trust wallet might not support all of them, thus make sure you find out first before sending, also Token Pocket seems to be a good one too and in cases where Trust wallet doesn't support the token you have.
In addition, whenever you send a token to your wallet and you are sure you sent to the correct address, and from the sending side, it is showing successful while in the receiving side it is not showing, the first thing to do is to scan the wallet on the explorer of that blockchain, be it Etherscan, Tron, Bscscan and so on.
Furthermore, in many cases you might have to add the token in order to make it appear. It's good you shared your experience and I believe many others will learn from it.

I have similar experience with Oikos it's not showing on Tronlink and Trust wallet but they are showing on other wallet specific for Oikos if you have this kind of issue it's better to ask the community about specific wallet that can be use for that token, it comes with compatibility, same with Ethereum based token it will not show on MyCrypto wallet you have to add it manually and sometimes on Metamask too.

Normally it is not needed to add tokens manually in the trust wallet unlike other token supported wallet but on rare cases confirmed tokens may not be visible due to not updated codebase by the wallet devs so we can add manually too a token when it is not recognized by the wallets itself.

https://community.trustwallet.com/t/how-to-add-a-custom-token/213 this is the guide provided by the trust wallet itself for adding tokens.

I use tron link, and it's great! Easy to use, as add-on it's always close! Nice features!
As I remember I started with tron wallet, and later I just added tron link and created a wallet with my 12 words and that's it!
Tron is great in my opinion, but not tokens on tron are mostly some scams, there're a few good ones, but I don't have some great experience... at least most of them are very cheap and easy to exchange on tron dapps! :)

Yeah, I agree. TRONLink is easy to setup, and it does its job very well. You can also use TronLink in your Brave browser.
It is similar to MetaMask for ETH and since it is a browser extension, it has the ability to connect the content of the website to the TRON network.

I had the same problem with oikos project cos it's running on Tron network too but the problem was gone when I imported my recovery seed into math wallet, it's the best Tron wallet I've ever used, I'm guessing Tron erc chain is complicated

This could really sum up the reason I haven't been seeing most of my Tron token on my trust wallet, after reading this post I downloaded tronlink wallet and imported it and I have found the token.
 Thank you
