Welcome to the New Safecoin

The Safecoin project and community have always been focused on putting security first to achieve real adoption in blockchain.   In fact we believe that any credible blockchain, De-Fi, dApps solution worth doing should build that solution on a secure foundation because we are ultimately dealing with digital money.   In March of 2018, a Komodo-based version of Safecoin was launched which at that time offered some of the most secure and private technology in terms of focus and innovation (ie., dPOW).     Late in 2020, we evaluated two things:

• Our Remaining Roadmap (most of it had been completed)
• The state of blockchain technology

We discovered that we had one final remaining critical item on our Roadmap, to build a secure and on-chain DEX capable of widespread adoption.    Looking across many disruptive technologies that have recently emerged, we saw an opportunity to create  a decentralized on-chain platform which functions with similar performance to a centralised exchange while providing a non-custodial and decentralised experience.   We also discovered that bitcoin itself no longer had the best finality (time required for a transaction to become irreversible) and could not compete with current technology in terms of speed, performance, and capabilities (lacking turing complete smart contracts).    As such, dPOW itself which inherits these properties from bitcoin, also became out-dated for the use cases we sought.

After months of research, development, and testing, Safecoin has Re-launched with a 1:1 fair swap to a new chain based on a Solana codebase.   Solana achieves record breaking performance through solving fundamental consensus, and thus security issues, around the concept of time in decentralized systems, through Proof of History.   It comes as no surprise to us that the world's most performant blockchain reached these achievements through solving security problems.

The result is a vastly more secure and performant blockchain:

• Sub-second finality (PoH), versus previous 10-60 minute finality (dPOW, limited to finality of bitcoin technology)
• Consensus Timestamped transactions - This solves a major barrier in decentralized systems and is part of a larger conversation.  One example of what this does is it eliminates front-running in decentralized exchanges and liquidity pools
• >100,000 TPS, versus ~15 TPS (achieved through multi-threading and many other advancements)
• Secure Rust-based code
  
• Highly performant WASM and Solidity Smartcontracts
• On-chain Tokens with an ERC20 Ethereum Bridge

We didn't just stop there.   We also improved the Solana code as well to provide a "Community Edition" of Solana more suited to worldwide adoption:

• We reduced ledger size to ~ 2 TB/Year, from Solana's ~160 TB/Year through improvements in consensus, storage, and compression
• We removed KYC gates from the Solana code as we rightly should.  No KYC is required for staking or validators or any other use of the new Safecoin blockchain
• We launched the chain on a completely fair launch proof of work store of value with no IEO, no ICO, no sales of any kind (existing Safecoin ledger)

In doing so, we believe we have introduced the world's most Performant and Decentralized Community blockchain (by making improvements in the feasibility of its decentralization).    This is our vision of what real worldwide blockchain adoption looks like.    We already have an incredible amount planned, and we are hard at work on SafeSwap, a decentralized on-chain exchange which will operate on top of the new Safecoin in the very near future.

Congrats on the launch of the new chain. Some great tech underpinning Solana and I really like some of the modifications made particularly the Validator HW requirements. Allows for a lower barrier to entry and more decentralization.

Question on Validators. Does a Validator get a slashing penalty in certain situations like down time or if it violates proof of history? On Solana:

“Validators may be penalized if they violate the network rules and Proof-Of-History. If validator is unresponsive it may lose corresponding rewards with possible algorithmic reduction of active validator's stake, which is earning SOL rewards.”

the hardware requirements for their validators are nuts.  I understand wanting to be the absolute fastest chain from a marketing perspective as ethereum is experiencing so much usage and not scaling well yet, but it really does kind of limit the potential for decentralization.

If safecoin has really created an optimized version of that with validators that are affordable to the average person, that's amazing!  Excited to see where this goes.

Both are correct :)

The new Safecoin is POS only, however due to its robust design with 100,000+ TPS at sub-second block times, it can utilise GPUs to process these transactions and those operators can earn SAFE for doing so.

You can look up Solana Validators for more information on this, we are completing testing and development of our implementation.   

Two distinct differences:

• The hardware requirements will be significantly less than Solana validators
• We have removed any KYC requirements to earn SAFE

Great question, we're looking at a 7-10 day rollout and we're looking for community feedback on what they want to see in the validators.

Thanks kindly and fantastic question, in our current implementation yes there is some slashing.   However it is less than what is in Solana.

Very open to your thoughts on how you'd like to see this work.    Definitely Proof of History and our TPS care about uptime.    How we achieve that, is up to us.    The slashing penalty is good for maintaining minimums.   Rewards are good for reaching maximums.

The adaption of this new technology is a milestone for the project and enables the full vision of the Ecosystem to come to life and lays the foundation for a complete DeFi package. I'm really looking forward to the SAFE Validators release.

So, i'm going to put my $0.02 in now for the perfect Validator ...

1) Rewards. I saw in Discord that currently 80% of all SafeCoin Classic emissions go to miners.
2) Will the current emissions rate remain unchanged? ( 1440 blocks x 4 SafeCoin = 5,760/day )
3) How will the emissions be split between the Validator and the delegated Stake?

Given the above, am I right to assume that the earnings potential of your SafeCoin stack will now be considerably higher than the former SafeNodes simply because of the loss of the miners emission share?

Looking at Solana, their overall emissions rate is around 8%/pa and the returns on their Validators are reported to be around 13%/pa.

Sent a few SafeCoin from SafeTrade to the new WebWallet. As soon as I hit send the transaction had processed and confirmed. Amazing speed with the new codebase.

The speed is a potential game changer, there's so many applications for these virtually instant transactions times.

Theres' 1,500 confirmations in the time ikt takes bitcoin to do a single confirmation. It'll be interesting to see which application the team can develop on top of this ultra-fast infrastructure.

That is correct. The reward allocation should be several 100% higher than it is now, simply because the whole block reward goes to Nodes/stakers

Not yet, ATH is at $0.1778 if I take a look based on CMC. It's great to see all the excitement that's welcoming the new Safecoin chain.
Current prices are pretty good, it's only the dev really needs to do something to increase the trading volume. Too small at this time.

Totally agree though, the trading volume is still very low, although sometimes that can be seen as an opportunity. I think there's 45 days left until the swap ends, i'm not sure how much it will improve before that is complete.

Would really like to see the SafeCoin Validator information released.

I'm looking forward to running some SAFE Validators to help contribute to that magical residual income we're all trying to build from our crypto stashes.

I think Solana emissions are around 8% and with over half of all coins staked the returns on Solana Validators are around 13%.

Who’s considering running their own Validator and do you have experience of Validators on other projects?

So that’s the ATH to beat, $0.1778, currently hovering between $0.10 and $0.14, so not long before that record is smashed.

Been doing some homework on the implementation of SAFE Validators.

The warm up / cooldown period is 3 epochs, each being around 2 to 3 days each.

If 50% of all coins get staked (as with Solana and the previous SafeNodes) then the annual return will be:

Emissions: 1,440 x 4 = 5,760 SAFE / day

Staked 50%: 15M SAFE

Earnings per SAFE Staked: 5,760 / 15M = 0.000384 x 365 = 0.14 SAFE per annum

Return: 14% per annum on whatever SAFE you delegate to a Validator

For anyone that missed it, you can run a validator from as little as 10 safecoins however you will need 10,000 safecoins in order for it to take part in the voting/rewards system.

The validator code release will be in 2 to 3 days, however this is a "soft" release and there will not be any rewards, this is to prevent the "early mover" advantage.

After approximately 7 days a validator update will release that will enable the rewards system.

So i'm just speculating.... but the entry level 10,000 safecoins to have a fully working voting Validator is the situation from the start, but with Solana, only the firxt X amount of validators take part in the voting, I wonder, as the network grows, what that number would be for SafeCoin Validators?

I'm testing out a disaster recovery rebuild of a validator, assuming total loss. Basically a complete rebuild, then a restore of the .json keys, then validator start up. I dont expect any problems.

Disaster Recovery Test Results: Rebuilding validator and just re-creating .json files was enough to restart the new validator as the old identity, all coins/votes/identity intact. IP change had no impact on functionality.

How long is the duration of an Epoch? A specific amount of produces blocks?

An epoch is 432,000 slots with a slot being a target rate of 400ms.

432,000 x 400ms = 172,800 seconds / 86,400 (1 days) = 2 days

This is approximate slots target 400ms but are usually a little slower. So an epoch is around ~2.5 days.

Development work continues on the Staking Wallet options. Some nice surprises coming soon.

Next on deck is SafeSwap DEX. It will run on top of the SafeCoin chain, making it the fastest, least expensive DEX in the industry. It will also be integrated with our CEX SafeTrade.

Phase Two: A Final, Exact remainder of SAFE will be burned, with calculations shown to fully verify that supply is reconciled with the swap.

Phase Two will occur: After our binary release of Safecoin, and after Graviex/Crex24 reconciliation is finalized

To get this right, we need to do this in these two phases.  However, the vast majority of SAFE is now burned and reflected in our supply.

I have some coins on the exchange Safe.trade
What percentage per annum can I calculate?
Will there be listings on new exchanges or a marketing campaign?

I think in the short range of time, there will be no listing because I see they focused on working to launch their DEX, safeswap. Marketing campaign will be interested to do, to expand this project, this could be considered wisely. I guess they always think about this anyway.
However so far, they already listed on medium range exchange, which I think is not bad at there to make trade.

Yeah i think a listing on a new exchange will do some good to boost the awareness of this project and also ensure easy access to buying this coin, solana is one great project with tremendous success and i want to assume that a fork from it can also perform as good too, more reason why the team should consider new exchange that many can use, very important.

By the way, these exchanges support the old chain.
The new chain is only supported by the exchange safe.trade
And therefore, the question of new exchanges is very relevant.

I believe both exchanges are planning on supporting the new chain in the future.
Crex24 will support SafeCoin as an erc20 token when the wormhole bridge is live and Graviex is planning on supporting the native chain.

Every Sunday, SafeCoin holds a public development meeting to keep the community up to date on the weekly happenings. Here is a summary of our meeting from Sunday October 10th.

Final Stages of SafeCoin Swap

Graviex and CREX24 have completed their final integrations into the new Solana-based SafeCoin network. Graviex is using the native SAFE network for trading, while CREX24 is utilizing the ERC-20 “eSAFE” token for trading. While the swap has been over for some time, a final burn of coins remains for the swap to be officially closed.

Ledger Integration

SafeCoin’s addition to the Ledger ecosystem is nearing finality. We are working with a few logistic centers for distribution world-wide. These will be SafeCoin-branded Ledgers. We are eying distribution centers in order to plan for future e-commerce solutions for SafeCoin. Currently, we have the ability to distribute out of the US, Germany, Malaysia, and France.

SafeTrade Update

The latest update for SafeTrade will be coming this week. The first of many Stablecoins will be available on the exchange, Solana-based USDC. By utilizing this version of USDC, users will be able to use Circle for fiat on-boarding. This is the first step in SafeCoin and SafeTrade’s Stablecoin integration.

SafeCash Protocol Development

SafeCash Protocol is SafeCoin’s implementation of Stablecoins on-chain. This is a Road Map item years in the making, and having that ability on the SafeCoin chain will bring speed and security to Stablecoin trading.

SafeSwap Development

SafeSwap DEX development is ongoing. Developer “Metacharles” is doing great work with SafeCoin Smart Contracts involved with the DEX. The plan is to include order book trading, as well as AMM trading to allow for multiple DEX trading options.

Liquidity Pools

SafeTrade will begin using liquidity pools via Hummingbot in the near future. This will bring heavily requested liquidity and volume across a majority of trading pairs. Once released, SafeSwap DEX will also utilize this liquidity.

Fiat Onboarding

A method of Fiat On-boarding is in the beginning development stages, and is a priority in the near future. There isn’t enough information to make public at this time, but it is coming.

SafeBridge - A New Standard In Secure Interoperability

There is a clear, immediate, definitive need for a reliable security focused interoperability platform in cryptocurrency. We introduce SafeBridge Testnet, a fully functioning decentralized cryptocurrency bridge, and the newest member of the Safecoin Ecosystem. Using the security-centric SafeBridge, one now has the following Testnet capabilities:

- Fully functional migration of SAFE and ETH tokens across both chains
- Migration of native (wrapped) SAFE and ETH across both chains
- Upcoming: Direct Solana integration with all chains

SafeBridge is a key DeFi component in the Safecoin ecosystem and will be integrated into upcoming DEXs including SafeSwap. SafeBridge offers limitless possibilities of secure blockchain interoperability for new and existing applications including SafeTrade.

 SafeCoin now joins an exclusive list of projects with full cross-chain interoperability and will continue to be integrated with more blockchains such as BNB, AVAX, etc. in the very near future through SafeBridge.
The Roadmap of new blockchains to be bridged is extensive and industry leading, as well as eventually incorporating Safecoin Validators. SafeTrade will subsequently utilize these integrations for enhanced features and improved liquidity.

Understanding the differences between SafeBridge and Wormhole:
Recently, Wormhole was subject to an exploit caused by a bug in Solana’s verification system which led to the minting of 80,000 wETH without depositing any coins. Wormhole does not itself verify the balance and circulation when bridging. Instead it relies on the blockchain to do this which is how this transaction was able to be processed without any flags.
SafeBridge, currently the only Wormhole Testnet in the world, is being developed to introduce additional checkpoints to mitigate the most dangerous security threat to have ever existed: human error. A basic flow diagram is illustrated below in figure 2 which highlights the key additions in SafeBridge with the green action circles.

- SafeBridge will essentially add a two factor authenticator to double check the circulating supply at the start of the process and again just before the tokens are minted
- This ensures that no tokens are minted without locking and verifying the initial deposit
