Title: Buying old coins: Is it worth it?
Post by: Abiky on June 11, 2021, 03:40:30 PM
With all of the hype surrounding "De-Fi" and NFTs, it looks like old coins like Peercoin, Primecoin, and Quark have been left in the dust. This is sad, considering that the aforementioned coins have a proven track record of stability and reliability. New coins are usually less secure than old ones. Despite the low interest/demand for old coins, they're still actively traded on the market.

I'm wondering whenever it's worth buying and holding old coins for the long term. Primecoin is one of its kind with a PoW algorithm that contributes towards the discovery of prime numbers. It's a pity other crypto projects haven't copied its model. Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)

Buying the old coin is not worth anymore except the popular old coins like doge, litecoin or something else and why? this project already lost interest from the investors and traders.
https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/primecoin/markets/

It's almost die right now. It's only worth to bet into the pump that no one knows when that will be coming for sure.
It's only wasting our time to buy the old coin while we can make money from the new coins easily dude.

In my opinion.  If you want to buy old coins.  Buy one with a strong project and fundamentals.  Like ltc, waves doge and solana.  If you buy coins that are left behind and the project is not great, you will most likely be left behind.

it is very difficult to see the movement of old coins that have lost interest in the eyes of investors. especially with an increasingly sophisticated update system DeFi has attracted many enthusiasts.
I can't recommend for old coins, because it depends on how you see the future. As far as I'm concerned, for now, the race against the latest released coins depends on how strong they are in the crypto market and how strong their appeal to investors is.
we must not forget the old coins that are still running today. However, old coin managers also have to make changes and adapt to the latest technological developments in order to exist and be able to compete.

Wasn't Filecoin one of the oldest coins that gained a lot in the last few months? Who knows if the other old coins can replicate that. The problem with these old coins nowadays is the lack of exposure. They don't have a presence in popular forums like Bitcointalk and I bet a lot of newbie investors haven't heard of them. I even thought Quark and QuarkChain are the same to be honest.

I don't think so but if you've got some spare money and you just want to feel that vibe and you think that it's still worth buying then buy some. There's nothing to lose upon putting a small budget for these types of coins as long as you're okay to lose them with these coins.
But put them only with those old coins that still have quite high liquidity so you're still on a good track for that coin that you're about to buy. You may hit a jackpot if any of them pumped unexpectedly and that's usually happening.

Old coins are getting piled up since upcoming projects and updates of newer coins are continuous and enormous, right now the market is driven on a coins' popularity to investors and not its potential, of course buying old coins would still get you some profit but you cannot expect the same profit you'll get from hyped and famous coins.

Primecoin is one of its kind with a PoW algorithm that contributes towards the discovery of prime numbers. It's a pity other crypto projects haven't copied its model.

This is actually so true, but if I had a chance I would rather mine than trade old coins that as good as Primecoin.

I have heard about these coins, but I remember their ideas, I also didn’t think about these coins if you didn’t remind me.

You have been on the forum since 2014, tell us what do you think about before investing? Do you see that the price of the coin has dropped to a certain value and are you planning to buy it for luck?

I invest in ethereum, polcadot and other projects, but I understand why their price will rise. I may be wrong, but I understand what I am doing and I have my own risk management.

If you want to buy any coin, then answer yourself the question why its price will rise, and invest according to your risk management mind.

That's not entirely true. New coins are not less secure if the tech is implemented in the right way.
Yes newer technology might have greater of chance of vulnerabilities but at the same time it improvises the efficiency and integrity.

But I get what your point is. Older coins are a good to invest in but at the same time it should still have value and active developments.
Only then it is worth to invest in it. There's no point in investing in old coins which are not active in developments and improvising the product.

indeed old coins look very tempting to buy back, because the price is cheap. but I think old coins will be very difficult to revive, the main cause is the difference in technology used and outdated

I think you can buy old coins with a note that the coins you buy are coins that have good fundamentals because I think some old coins are starting to be worthless because investors have started to abandon them and some are starting to be abandoned by developers. but for old coins like ltc I think you can still consider it besides doge can also be an option even though this coin is very high risk but what's the problem if you buy it and do scalping

I remember Quarkchain and how noisy it was. They even launched a bounty in the past months so as not to be forgotten. But, you know the market just swallows most of them over time and is forgotten, so the more profitable is always used more actively. At the same time I guess the future will not be better for such forgotten projects. And going against the current is certainly not the solution, the real solution is to find the truth in the current. Maybe you should continue from this way?  ???

In the past years there is an old coins that I invested in a herocoin play and I earn of these kind of old altcoins it was started in a year 2017 but now I stop to buy more because since they step put in a year 0f 2020 they are no longer to raise the price a little bit but its always in a CMC. And in this time i found out that they increasing the price again but not to high so maybe I just need to think about if I want to buy or not.

And those old altcoins mentioning from OP im not familiar yet of what year they release that altcoins. And there are so many old altcoins banishing if the project was not totally being update not improving the of what the project are.

Old altcoins are my favorite if those altcoins have a great volume. Primecoin is a very old altcoins but the maximum supply is unknown and volume isn't good. The top any exchanges don't support these altcoins. This coin could be the best example that exchange support must be needed. You found a very good old coin which cost 3 USD in 2013! If I have an amount of money even though I won't buy these altcoins.

Not all old coins are promising coins. Moreover, I wonder how the team can really make the coin survive in the crypto world. Moreover, the era is always developing, sometimes a team should also make some progress in order to make the coin more interesting and also can give stronger fundamentals today. So, many people will be interested again in the coin. However, there are no significant changes especially in the market of those coins.
And I personally, will prefer old coins that are worthy and promising with their strong fundamentals, big community, and also active teams. Btw, today coins or tokens newly are probably worthy for trading, utilizing the time to take profits with the new coins. But not or long-term because it may end up soon like what we have seen newly. It may be full of hype or FOMO.

Well, whether old or new coin shouldn't be the basis to buy it or not. As long as it has a true potential in the market and possible give you an income, then it is really worth it.

it doesn't hurt to buy old coins, there are some old coins that are still cheap at this time, such as NXT and Ignis,
both from the Jelurida project, of course there is still great potential to gain a lot of profit when the altcoin season arrives,
try going to Bittrex and buy NXT there, Unfortunately Binance still doesn't list these two coins

There are a lot of worth-it-old coins in the market like ADA or polkadots, it was just some old profits that are now exploded and have good potential at this time. Mostly a lot of old coins are not worth investing in at all since there are a lot of coins that don't really have a movement in the market or pump in the past years, something like EOS Even polkadot doesn't have market movement after it reaches around 40$ in the market.

Surely it's a volatile market so at any moment some coin could just explode but we couldn't actually invest in all of it, I guess it is not always worth it unless it's Bitcoin or Ethereum. I think it's better to always keep your money moving so I always convert some of my old coins into another token that has a lot of market movement.

Old coins that are still relatively popular can be a good buy. Just look at doge which hasn't received any major updates in years. It was immediately picked up by the meme community and eventually a lot of retail investors together with serious investors as well, made it to where it was just a few weeks back. Of course, it's a high risk, high reward play paired with extreme luck, so not every old coin is a good buy. You really have to analyze whether you'll be picking valuable rocks or diamonds on a rock.

You never know. We shouldn't just say like "It is an old coin. It won't make me a good amount of money.". Being the oldest or newest is not the most important criterion. The condition of the project is the most important.

I don't mind if that is PoW, PoS algorithm, what I am looking for a certain coin is if that really has the potential.
Many old projects that are worthy of an investment which I prepare rather than searching for new projects that mostly are just scam. Knowing that the old coins are more sustaining, could give us a big chance to make money unlike what we see for new projects. Though we can never make assurance at least our chance is high, that I put into the account in choosing them.

I see this problem is really much simpler, for me in any field there will be new products created and if not competitive enough, old products will be left behind. And in the crypto market, this is very evident with the things that OP stated, if they do well, there will be no reason for the project to die.

yes you're right, so all that was replaced from the development of that project. so if they continue to develop their platform and provide new innovations, I'm sure even if the coin is old, it's still worth investing in.
even tokens from old projects that used to be very cheap and not many pay attention to can also get their glory in the future.
I see that there are projects such as BITSONG and Adbank that have been running for a very long time for platform development. even their tokens used to have no value or just a very cheap value.
but after 2 years of development, the team proved that the ecosystem they built was finally accepted by the market. and that makes whoever sticks with a good project will definitely benefit.
old assets are not only top market assets that must be considered. This market is too broad, and there are many assets that we can learn from.

Some of old coins are still popular . as long as you choose the right one. like litecoins. monero. but if you want choose a coin like that I myself prefer coins2 that have much more potential and have smart contracts option because nobody know might be someday they had new feature that will impact their community like eth . bnb . polkadots . cardano .

Yes, i agree with you. Unless the project is not good, never invest in it.
Seeing the question asked in OP, it depends that whether OP indicating all the old coins or all the old popular coins.
I can easily say that if you invest in BTC, ETH, doge , LTC , then surely you will get profit.
These are the coins that never gets old and always chance is there to give you profit.
Now if you invest in a old coin whose marketcap is small, then almighty can only save you from losses.
Hope you understand the depth OP.

I haven't heard Peercoin, Primecoin, and Quark though. Or probably I read it somewhere but I guess it didn't stick or I didn't get intrigued about it.

Anyway, upon searching it, I do remember the logo of the coin though. Being a pioneer on it could prove that it has it's factor on becoming like BTC or something. It can but I'm not sure if a lot more people would want to buy it though.

The idea of minting the coin isn't bad though. Maybe you can earn those coins instead?

If the old coin is litecoin, dogecoin, dash, monero, I will surely buy it because those old coins still can increase and increase following with bitcoin price increase. Maybe this time, those old coins do not give much profit to us, but if we invest in those coins for the long term, it could give us the profit. But if the old coin is Peercoin, Primecoin, and Quark, I will think twice to invest because I do not see the project still good to invest. Maybe if the developer can convince people that their project still has development and want to make the project reach their goals, that can mean something to people and maybe people will invest in the project.

That cannot be avoided old projects will be copied but not just copied but will be improved, in this way the project or cryptocurrency will continue to evolve into a better coins I think it's part of improvement we should not be surprised that new coin or project will come after the DeFi and NFTs.

If a coin did not show a good rise despite the bull season and the team is not working, it does not make much sense to invest. Without a good community, the project can no longer gain value.
The important thing is not how much the project has been developed, but speculations affect the value more. We have seen this situation with many shitcoins in the past months :)

I don't think it's a good idea to invest in old coins, the old coins that missed this round of great bull market may not survive till the next bull market.
Of course, there are always surprises, might be some old coins break out in the bear market or stand out in the next bull market. But the probability that you happen to hold this old coins is very low.
All in all, investing in old coins are too risky,it is better to buy the new coins with sensationalization.

I mean Bitcoin and Ethereum are also "old" coins and of course it's still worth it to buy those. There are also a lot of coins in the top 100 or top 50 region that are around 3 years old or even older like IOTA, Dash, Monero and Waves and i would say that all of these coins are also still safe investments as they are all still actively developing and improving their product.
I guess you thought about old and small projects. This questions is harder to answer and you really need to research the projects before you invest if they are still active if they still have a community or if it is just a dying project that slowly but surely moves down in the market cap ranking since years.

It is worth it if the coin already popular that it got listed in many exchanges and not lacking trading volume as to keep it from delisted but the coins like
you mentioned won't. When it comes to old coin like that they are lacking the marketing making fewer and fewer new investor got in and also losing their
old users. If you're truly looking for old coin try to find in among the top market caps, they are safe for long term won't get delisted out of the blue.
But some old coins also have done some successfull branding so you should look into that as well I guess.

besides that we can find out on the top coins on coinmarketcap to avoid the risks,
and maybe we can do a combination, namely by buying old coins and new coins and make sure before buying we do our own research and analysis

From my experience so far in crypto, people prefer fomo or hype from new altcoins rather than old altcoins with only a small daily trading volume, this is an indication that investors prefer short profits rather than having to wait a long time even though it looks promising

Yes, am in support of people buying old coins provided the buyer has faith and trust in the coin. Do not buy a coin because of hype but buy it because you are convinced that the coin is a nice coin with solid foundation and team members. Buy the coin and let it stay for long term. That is the only way you will get to make profit from it once its demand increases.

This market is like a competition. Those who are strong will stay and those who are weak will go away.
In this case, those coins who aren't popular right now for some reasons will be the ones that will go away and those strong ones will stay.

Although I believe that there are some old coins who has a better technology compare to the new ones that are coming up right now, its the community of the coin that matters at least for me. Its sad but we must accept that there will be coins that will rise and there will coins that will fall. Now to answer the question, buying old coins is worth until now but as an investor I'll prefer those old coins that are still in the top 100 right now rather than those at the bottom ones.

Unfortunately, not every old cryptocurrency now has interest from traders or investors. New cryptocurrencies are now showing the best results and are mainly invested in them. To understand whether it is worth investing in old coins, you need to re-examine their offer and at what level of development they are now. If everyone has already forgotten about them and they have no liquidity, then they are definitely not worth buying. As for me, it is better to pay attention to the actively developing DeFi and NFT, but also not to forget about the top cryptocurrencies, because not all of them have shown their growth potential yet.

If you really want to invest in old coins than take a look on LTC, XLM, DOT and ADA these coins are still worth to invest and hold for long time.
Nowadays many shitcoins and useless coins are being created, which have not any value in market but people are still investing in these coins and getting loss. I am confused why people don't Invest in strong project.

Depending on the use case of the coin and how the teams promote the benefits of their coin. If they keep to developing new product and follow the trend of market, they will be survive from the market, because the interesting of the project increasing.
I think they just want to have quick profit that's why they invest in sh*tcoins. We all know that these coins get immediately pump when the project launch in exchange like pancake swap then immediately dump also after a few minutes.
I agree, there are lot of old tokens that are worth of investment, as you mentioned. Tokens that are continuing to improve and upgrades that makes more competitive in current crypto situation. It's worth of investment but also we should do a lot of research before investing. These tokens also requires long-term not for short term investment.

Thank you. :)

It is depend on what old altcoin you want to buy, my suggestion is buybonly old coin which has so many peoole involve in it like Monero, Dash, litecoin or Zcash. These are good old altcoin with strong community behind it. It will not gives you 100% safe poaition but atleast they are survived from many crypto winter in this decade.
Dash : created in 2014 and still survive and it is first proof of stake coin in this industry.
Litecoin : the first script mining coin ( dogecoin is forked from litecoin source )
Monero : no doubt this coin is the most anonym and untraceble coin on earth.
Zcash : the first coin which implemented Zero Knowledge technology by zooko

I think not all, old coins are worthy to buy, but only those few that was proven and tested just like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Binance, etc. because its too many old coins already, they are thousands of them in the market today that's why it's not easy to track them all, for the better just choose the Top ranking old coins in the market. But if you are aware of many successful new projects in the market today I will include them to diversify my portfolios.

Depending on the use case of the coin and how the teams promote the benefits of their coin. If they keep to developing new product and follow the trend of market, they will be survive from the market, because the interesting of the project increasing. That's right, and in the past too many coins died because there was no use and benefits to be gained from these coins, and actually every year there are always coins that die because their development is not smooth and the demand is low.

A natural thing that happens because there will be coins that grow and die every year. I've also held some old coins that ended very sadly. The coin undergoes a gradual decline and ends up being up. Many things you will go through later with what you have held. but I'm sure there will be 1 coin that makes you lucky and make a profit.

Yes, if it's more about looking for a safe and comfortable place to invest and trade, then it won't be wrong to choose the top coins as you mentioned, but if you really have a lot of time to explore successful projects, that's also not wrong, but most recently successful projects also need more time to develop again.

You never know. We shouldn't just say like "It is an old coin. It won't make me a good amount of money.". Being the oldest or newest is not the most important criterion. The condition of the project is the most important.

But we should just say. Yes you never know and that is the whole point. If you have some already okay,,, good and then just hodl or forget about it and keep the private keys safely until they maybe moon. But to invest more money now into old coins just because of "you never know" is a sure way to lose funds.

those who can maintain their market community with product development will always get a good market.
Old projects that are forgotten are those that are present in the market then there is no development. there are even some projects that only migrate to the blockchain chain. without any updates from the platform. they just want to use the hype going on in the market only.

This coins you mentioned are really old coins which people hardly talked about, and you know how it is in crypto,  once attention of people has shifted from a project, it means less investors and possibly less volume and which can result to slowly decrease the activity and then finally fade away.
If people are still trading this coins that is surprising because buying such coins will be very risky compare to all the projects in the market.

Many old coins can still give you huge profit, depends on your strategy. If you want to buy old coins, just choose the best and with strong foundation in the market.

Ethereum can be considered old coin. I think it is worth, new or old as long we really know how the coin was. Because there are some old coins too which already dead of left by it's developer. If me i am not look at the age (although age is important too because we can see the coins still survived or not) but mainly i better to look on it's volume in coinmarketcap.

Why will they copy it . That will be plagiarized but they every coin needs to come up with a new idea for them to get an attention . New coins now are crafted with less effort than the old coins , it's why old coins are the best

- Seriously, many old coins are becoming quick money systems, they stop development activities and fall into the hands of wolves, whales, sometimes we still think they are as safe as in the past but their nature has changed from the inside and become the territory of bandits. These robbers are always sophisticated in their system settings, they're always ready to lead a few winners here and out to advertise, a chain reaction will occur and these robbers will collect a large amount of money from the people who come here, pay attention to old projects that have stopped working when investing

Be careful, because then reality comes, and as you mentioned, these coins are more stable and secure.
But the day that the new currencies fail, there are many possibilities that they will again enter mass adoption.

For now I would like those old coins to be even free and then buy some just in case...

Even looking into other pictures like how businesses try too hard to be unique these days.
It'll never beat the good ol' fashion as always.
This is also the reason why I do not tread too much in coins that are below top 10 in CMC though I gotta be honest I only throw it all to BTC in the end anyway. :D

Depending on what kind of coins, many coins were in consolidation, but with the hype, DeFi and NFT saw a new channel for development and began to develop there. After that, the rapid growth of their token began.

Therefore, it is necessary to look at projects that have any plans for the future, to see what they want to do in the future.

I know many people say that "it all depends on the coin" but the reality is that old coins are for different investment and new coins are for different investment in my mind. If I am investing into an "old" coin which usually for me means at least 3 years or more, that means I am after steady income and not after a huge increase, I know from 2020 to 2021 we have made a great deal of profit with them but even at that point there were tons of new ones that profited more but ton of new coins that went to zero as well, there is a bigger risk involved with new coins whereas old ones are usually the ones we know, the bad ones are already gone, so the old ones that are left which are mostly in top 10-20 even top 50 are known ones and they go up with the market.

However when I invest into new ones, I invest with small amount and try to make a huge return from them, not a steady guaranteed income but either zero or 100x type of deal, so I put in very little amount.

Expect those things because whenever a new coin would pop out then the older ones would just simply be covered out and when theres a new trend where people do make focus on that instead and its no surprise that these good old coins will really be leaved in the dust. One thing that indicates that this one is still alive despite of being old is that there still people whom do trade with it which means there still community support on that.
If you do plan to engage on things like buying old coins then its your choice but who knows if these old projects will have some nasty
pump on next months or years to come?

It doesn't depend on the kind of coins. The main point isn't about Cefi, Defi, or NFT but how good the fundamentals of the coin itself.
The fundamentals can be seen from some aspects such as the team members, its MVP, partnership, marketing strategy, development programs, community, or exchange plans. If we can see good progress on these aspects, we can expect about the old or new coins are good. But if no good progress on those aspects, we are better to ignore it even if it is an old coin.

That would only be good if you're going to purchase those old coins which is worth for future spending. Choosing for the prospected one is too hard to do because entire cryptocurrency market was on downfall few weeks ago after such controversial situation of bitcoin, that affects all altcoins. Old coins are starting to be abandoned because investors are no longer interested in contributing there. I think DeFi and NFT are more promising, game-based NFT for example, this is very attractive to investors. maybe investors are starting to think that the world will switch to digital things in the near future, I mean the items they like to collect.

I agree investors will be much more interested in projects that promise profit, whereas some old coins don't promise anything right now. Even some of
the old coins team developers are no longer active and old coins like this will be abandoned by investors. Because competition in the crypto world is
very tough, it must be able to attract the attention of investors so that old coins can survive in the crypto world. Moreover, DeFi and NFT do promise
something much more interesting than old coins. So it is very natural that investors will look for projects that can provide them with greater benefits.
Only old coins are included in the top 10 cryptos that I think are still worth buying, because the old coins are included in the top 10 cryptos can still
provide benefits to their holders.

so it's not about old or new coins, but the potential of the project. old coins don't necessarily have good potential, neither do new coins, it all depends on the development of the project. One thing we need to understand is that before investing anything we must know the project more deeply, so that we have warning signs to determine the right timing to buy and sell.
it also determines whether we will make it a long-term investment, or just a hit and run, following the trend that is currently hype in the market. all have risks, so choose the one you can manage well.

I would only buy a coin where it has DeFi and NFT supported because crypto is moving very fast and a good project must support all such new features to be a good and successful coin.
And it can happen any time for us to see a new developmend being done after DeFi and NFT because many developers are currently building and researching.
New projects are more likely to support such future features.

You can even pay a developer $5 per coin now I have seen packages of $50 for 15 new coins you can just throw on any DEX and try to see if anybody will even buy 1 of them,,, all fake of course but still people fall for it :)

Yes it is it's still worth it and one good example is DogeCoin, you just never when one whale as big as Elon Musk will support and invest in one of the old coins you are holding, Cryptocurrency technology is moving and upgrading every year there is a technology being introduced in the Crypto world and old coins should create anew roadmap or integrate new technology to their system to make it in tune to the present times.
while the project is still running, you will see how projects with their old coins develop and make progress according to what is happening in the market.
such as the example related to the migration of the blockchain network used from ERC to BEP. simple ham but I'm sure it wasn't on their roadmap. but some have managed to gain momentum from such events in the market.

For a big investment, everyone will suggest old altcoins like as much as big, as much as old. But different situations always exist like Primecoin. These types of altcoins are very rare. These altcoins could be a very risky investment. These types of altcoins don't have enough volume and don't pump in a proper time.

In my opinion, only buy old coins that has stood the test of time. I mean those only in the top ranks should be considered worth buying right? If you are going for old meme coins other then DOGE then of course you are already putting your investment at risk. I suggest to go for for the coins that has a strong community and also does not need any sort of marketing as they are already well known. Just take a look at the top coins at coinmarketcap and you won't be having a big problem investing.

Who told you that nobody is interested in old coins? Aren't Bitcoin and Ethereum old coins? There are so many good altcoins in the market that a lot of people are steady buying and holding. Most of these new coins are mainly used for a pump and dump scheme. When you invest in them, they get pumped and later they are dumped.

I can remember a coin that someone was talking about here and even trying to hype it. When I decided to look at the coin's chart, I saw that the coin is clearly a pump and dump coin. After it pumped once, it then crashed and never went up again and is not even showing any reasonable movement that shows it will still go up again.

Well, buying old or new coins doesn't not really matter, I think what really matters is making money, people buy what they feel will give them what they want, and besides, pow is already outdated, atleast the recent happenings made us understand that, it's just a matter of time, people will shift from mining to staking, even Ethereum is shifting from prove of work to prove of stake, what does that tell us, that a coin is pow does not give it any chance, if it doesn't catch the interest of the community, it will continue to stay abandoned.
And my personal question on this topic also is, this old coins belong to some person or group of persons(the developers), how much are doing to make sure this old coins continue to stay relevant in the market? People can not buy what they do not know anything about.

Although there are good new projects that adapt to market conditions and have an innovative idea, investing in them involves risks because perhaps the project does not have a capital to complete its development and to list their tokens on the exchanges, and therefore the project fails. I believe that the old promising projects are better and safer.

buy coins that have good progress in the future, not because they have been around for a long time and will survive, of course the project can be replaced if it doesn't follow current developments.
It's better to buy coins that keep up with current market developments, like defi and nft you said.
Old coins will not necessarily have good development, and will not necessarily last. of course when we want to invest must choose coins that have potential later. it is very risky to choose old coins, especially after pumping and dumping, as if they are difficult to bounce back at their peak price

With old projects that aren't developing further to compete with the new ones, they are bound to die. There are old coins however that are worth like the Lisk, WAVES, MCO and Livepeer. There are lots of them that are nearly forgotten but the old holders are still holding them. I have lost a lot of WAVES actually but still managed to buy back some of them even the Stratis which is now rebranded to STRAX. If the project still has development and updates, I think it's still worth it.

Thank you. :)

It depends on the coins, some of the coins are still in the top 10 and the number one coin is still the original coin and the oldest coin in the industry Bitcoin, and Dogecoin is also an old coin and it made a huge wave and become the trend because of Elon Musk so we must not ignore these old coins they are still worth investing because of their huge community.

indeed the community is one of the reasons the old coins are still in demand. In contrast to new coins that don't even have loyal fans, fans and investors of old coins appear solid and loyal. that's why until now the old coins still have trading volume and remain in the market. So I think it's still worth investing in.

Check social media about twitter, telegram did you see new update from old coin? I see many old coin inactive for new update or new partner and how development of their coin, without any active on telegram or twitter better never buy old coin, but if potential coin like ethereum, ltc and bnb is worth to buy.
most old coin news is only on bitcoin, ETH, XRP, ADA and others. however, currently dominating popular coins are old coins. however, it also requires research to have it at the right time. worth or not, it all depends on your needs.

Apart from these coins, there are many other good old coins that are not moving but I am optimistic they will also move some time. I would say it's not bad for those who are holding it. Actually, the Devs needs to do some marketing to make it popular again and list it on some Tier-1 exchanges to attract new investors as we all know Peercoin, Primecoin & Quark are good coins. Now it depends on the devs how they will try to grow the supportive community of these coins.

It's all a matter of staying ahead of the game in order to stand the test of time. There may be many good-old coins out there on the market, but not all of them will last a lifetime. Only those that are able to maintain development and innovation will survive. New coins will always be on the top as they bring new and exciting features to the whole crypto/Blockchain space. Investors are usually into crypto to make a lot of money, so they'd choose new projects that would leave their pockets full of money. I wouldn't worry about this as long as old coins are alive and actively traded on the market. The risks of loss with an old coin are quite high, because of wild fluctuations in market price. New coins are usually much more stable than old coins, bringing confidence to traders and investors alike.

I'd stick with old coins with a proven track record of development and innovation. Peercoin, and DASH are old coins that are still relevant in the crypto/Blockchain space. Demand may be low for these coins, but their blockchain networks are alive and healthy. Buying and "hodling" some old coins might leave you with endless profits in the future. Just my thoughts ;D

Lol. it seems to be a coin that people are unlucky to hold. if indeed it makes bad luck you should throw it away or burn it. Maybe ;D
But I think a little if it really makes bad luck it seems that it also saves a lot of unlucky coins.
Yes, basically it would be a waste to only think about unlucky coins that can't bring us personal benefits, so such coins are very worth throwing away, because thinking about them will also waste precious time.

We are taught not to always be traumatized by what you have been through. maybe some people will be afraid of what they have tried. It's best not to think so much about useless junk coins because you're holding them.

On the contrary, you need to invest in cryptocurrencies which are trading on the cryptocurrency market already long time, of course, you need to choose the best of all the most popular cryptocurrencies that have been actively and steadily developing already long time, and therefore investing in cryptocurrencies which already proven their capabilities should always be in the first place for investment, since top cryptocurrencies always brings profit, the main thing is to know when is the best time to invest in them.

These are old coins but always promising coin and top ranking in coinmarketcap. I think he talking about such old coins which are low volume coins and not listed in the major exchanges. Prime coin have no value as far as trading and others activities so i think such old coins investment never safe for the long term.
Yes, what you say is very true, because it is very risky to invest in old coins whose volume is still very low until now, because it indicates that the coin does not have many fans or its function is not useful at all, so people have no intention of buying it.

One thing I like about older coins is they tend to be more established. If they've been around for a while they likely have some publicity, money and reputation. That being said, when going for older coins I prefer blockchain coins over some of the types you listed. Tron and Stellar are two coins that have been around for a while and although they haven't shot up to $20 or $30, they've been stable and have gone up in value. Those are 2 coins I consider to be old and still like because they've been around for a while and have proven themselves to be fairly stable coins. If they could do something big on their blockchains then I feel those two old coins could still have a ways to go profit-wise..

Cryptocurrency is evolving, coins come and go even the new coins that you are seeing now, have a possibility to cease, there are old coins worth investing, Bitcoin and Dogecoin is the trending coin this year and they are old coins, so we can safely say that it's still worth investing in old coins, your portfolio should consist of old and new coins, there are old coins that also evolve to keep up the present need of the community.
I'm sorry I don't agree with what you suggest, it's true for bitcoin I'm very ready to invest there because with bitcoin fundamentals and the prospects of this coin I really like and don't hesitate to invest here. but for doge I'm not sure, because if you see this doge has no utility other than that they only go up because of the pump from billionaires, it's too high risk if you invest in doge with a very long time duration especially if you expect the pump to take advantage

So far old, oldest and decent coins I definitely choose bitcoin the world's first coin, actually all old altcoins are still decent depending on how long you wait and choose the right coin.
like dogecoin so called meme coin or useless coin and what we saw yesterday happen which is very surprising with dogecoin, and i think the old holders under 2017 must have enjoyed dogecoin profits many times over.
because we do not know the future of the coins we have because such a surprise can happen suddenly, and most importantly be patient.

I personally think there are some of the old coins that still deserve our interest. However, a very large part of them are simply left without any development. As for the Primecoin you mentioned, I don't think they have a chance to make any progress anymore. But we should not neglect some other old coins.

Well I can possibly say some old coins are worth buying, there are old coins which really had good potentials and has really survived lots of bad times most of this new coins can give a very high profit and also a high lose as well, most of this new coins don't have strong potentials there are just been boosted by hype and bull run season, when the bearish season comes most of them will die off.
So I would suggest if you need quick profit go for new coins but if you want to stay very long and earn in future choose wisely from both old and new.

almost all of the old coins either have lost all their value or have been delisted from the exchanges if you really want to invest in an old altcoin you have to focus on those that resist over time such as litecoin, doge, wave and observe the volumes on the exchanges so yes scalping it can be do with any currency even if i prefer the new ones because they have more volume thanks to the greater interest of users

New coins are more popular than old coins but the potential of these newly coins are quite low compared to those reliable and secured projects before. Investing in those old coins might put you at a high risk but if those old coins will have all the chances to pump again, then why not. There are a lot of instances wherein old coins are even more profitable than today's newly introduced coins.

I think buying and holding those old coins is still a profitable move because they still have those strong fundamentals where most of these new coins don't even have. And as long as there is enough budget to buy and are ready to lose them anytime, then taking that risk is definitely worth along.

Well not all old coins are worth buying, some of them don't have good potentials or enough back up to continue boosting it's price while some are good enough to still buy in this present time. Like we all know most of this new coins are really very volatile and the risk in buying them is really high so if you must buy any of them you need to make enough research and be sure the coin you are buying is good enough to survive in the bearish market, this is more reason while most of the old coin are still worth buying.

only old coins in top coinmarketcap worth to buy. another one could not proven as good project altough already pass several years in their developtment. if compare current status on old coins roadmap , it should finished mostly.
Not all old coins are good and many of them have been forgotten already. Some remain tough and keep going and are considered underrated but only a few of them are good in the top rankings.
just check this product that mentioned in roadmap really working and could create demand or not in market.
Check almost everything with it before buying not just the roadmap but including its market and where it's listed.

Yes, everyone always has different experiences in life and in working in crypto, because whatever has happened to other people can only be seen as a lesson, and not to be feared because everyone doesn't work in the same place.

This will all be a great lesson for people who want to continue to strive to produce happiness in old age. although it does not have a definite guarantee that will happen in the future but still try with what you have described. Keep trying to make big profits.

If you are still looking in old coins, you have to consider researching first before investing in it, you have to consider its fundamentals and its potential if it can be in a long run. You may consider searching about XRP, TRX, BNB, and Doge. I don't think that it is profitable in short term but will be good in the long term.
Yes it is still worth to buy the top old coin .I think the coin which has s strong platform and still they are active like all time it would good to invest there .TRX ,BNB ,NEO ,BCH could be the best choice from these to invest .Its a sentence there old is always gold .The old top altcoin always have a great future .That's i always suggest the new comer to invest on old coin .

Old coin like peercoin, quarkcoin etc will have to re-brand and change direction of their ideas! It is obvious that some of the ideas old coin were based on are no longer applicable and sustainable in the new ecosystem of cryptocurrency! You will see a lots of money are going to decentralized finance (defi), decentralized exchange (dex) and other modern useful ideas! You have to check few things before investing your money at any old project. Always avoid the dead coins. And don't choose those coins which have survived with the market movement but couldn't gain the popularity like other old coins. Those three coin is somehow like that which you have mentioned in your post. They haven't increased in price it's been so long. Better to select those old coins which are old and undervalued but still able to compete with top alts. These type of coin has higher chance to explode in price.

Agree. Old projects should bring something new and fresh to attract the masses. Otherwise, they'll slowly fade away into oblivion. "De-Fi" and NFTs is what it's all about these days, so I don't think old coins will see the light at the end of the tunnel. Prices could further decline as money is poured into new projects with attractive features. I wouldn't worry about this as long as old coins remain alive and healthy.

It's a good thing old coins are still being actively traded across exchanges. This is probably because such coins have been tried-and-tested over the years. For long-term wealth preservation, investing in an old coin might be the smartest decision to make. But if you're deeply inclined in making profits within the short term, then new coins would be the way to go. I'm going to keep "hodling" PPC and XPM as they're rock-solid projects that will never get old. Just my opinion :)

many old coins were abandoned by their investors because they could not increase their price significantly.  lately there have been several newly launched coins but their popularity is growing rapidly because they are able to include influencer support so that they can be in the public spotlight and quickly increase their trading volume so they can beat the existing old coins
Therefore, if you still feel sure you want to make a purchase on old coins, you should choose a type of coin that is quite popular and is able to enter the top 20 on coinmarketcap

that are top in the market. Where there is a potentials to increase in the future. Those coin I can give an example are

it is precisely the current situation of old coins that will have the potential to increase in price. although new coins sometimes have an interesting hype, the market for new coins is not as strong as the old coins. the hype will quickly dissipate and it's just a matter of correction.

but seeing the newly selected coins is also important. because not all new coins we can control. Good analysis of the market and community is very important. because in the current state of the market almost all new coins get upgrades. but we can look for the best.
I suggest focusing on BNB and ETH, they will provide interesting long-term benefits for you.

If this condition didnt met at all, maybe we have to research and move to another projects that have this points. You need to have your deeper assessments before taking your steps, there's always good and bad sides for this matter, buying old coins that don't have any progress will risk your money, if there's no movement and there's no updates from the developers, staying away is the best thing to do.

With your suggestion, I agree that this two old and working coins are good for long-term investment, the potentials are high not even the value already risen but the chance to see more is very possible, with those working platforms and community appreciations this two coins still have big room to grow.

I think old coins is no longer worth buying, because old coins are very behind, investors are now interested in the technological development of new coins, so I think buying old coins is very risky

I think, depends on a kind of old coins. Old coins that already exist more than ten years together with bitcoin is still worth to invest as long as there is a huge demand on it and there is a continues development of the project which is that it will not be left with new coins. Actually old coins are more reliable and trusted than a new one.

Thank you. :)
Lately, it has been the rise of old coins and Axie is one of those that has been very successful so far. There is nothing wrong or stupid about buying old coins as long as it can still become valuable over time. When it comes to Axie, the price or the value of it has been increasing a lot lately considering the sudden massive growth of the players. This might open up the chance for other NFT's to arise as long as their ways would be like Axie wherein legitimacy is guaranteed and you would really make profit as time passes by. Who knows what other NFT's will be successful in the future so watch out so you can benefit from it always.

only good project are worth to buy and hold in our bag, some old coins now be major project in top 100 coinmarketcap and they could survive due project developtment , but some of them die and have no developtment at all. the lastest coin type need to avoided in order we lose our money if investors start selling their token.

If you really want to invest in old coins better choose the top coins in the market. these coins are still worth investing in and keeping for a long time.
Nowadays a lot of shitcoins and useless coins are being created, which have no value in the market but people still invest in these coins and suffer losses. I'm confused why people don't invest in strong projects.
People this time are more skeptical i think so they can't just focus on one decision and stick to those not really important. Most of the new coins that have been arising in the market today are really low in potentials to survive long in the market and their utility case is not that strong compared to the old and legend ones in the market.

I do believe old coins are even worth the investment compared to the new coins today. People might forget them especially for new investors but the fact that they are more well developed and more profitable make them worth the money and time this time.

Yeah, it is a short-term pump and most of them have no potentials to stay in the market for a long-time. But as the market changes in direction, many investors take that opportunity rather than wasting their time holding old coins that are not able to give them decent returns. If you are just a short-term investor, this is suited for you, yet, it is too risky and we need to analyze first before buying because once the hypes are over, it really hard or it is possible that it never pumps again.

I think that the old coins belong to Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, XRP, and others. And yeah, If the old coins are at least at the top 100, I will still buy it.
So far, I am not a good and professional trader, only trading based on the daily chart and cannot do certain TA. So, I only use certain coins that are in the top ten. Or, the coins that are popular on reputable exchanges.

almost most of the old coins suddenly appeared and hype in the crypto market. even I observed the coins were projects in the past like mid-2019 to 2020. there are many coins of them experiencing an increase in this year. Legitimate projects certainly take a long time to show their existence in the crypto market, if you know about a coin hype then you will find the answer yourself.
I'd never agreed that legit projects will take time to show, no, they will surely make pump if they have the potentials and even no hypes happened unlike with the new projects.
Well, buying olds coins have the advantage as it was considered for long-term investment but have to be sure that old coins are not dead coins.
But for me, I'd never think about old or new coins, what is most important is that we are confident that we are investing the right and promising coin, not shitcoins.

Old coins that are not dead coins in terms of development. Because if you will buy an old alt where there is no more updates happening anymore, then, that's useless. Should always have specific use case and the dev team is still active with their innovations. You should always look at the application of the coin. Because even if they have noble mission/use case, most of them don't even get the audience they want.

I dont think it's a good idea to buy old coins.  Without a good team, the project wont last too long. The old coins that missed this round may disappear  till the next bull market round. After all it's a high-risk,high-reward game .Most people will choose safe coins,Bitcoin Eth etc.

sometimes it is not unreasonable to hold old Alcoins like that, there are some old altcoins that are worth keeping and some should be released considering the growing popularity today. like the Altcoin you mean "Primecoin", I don't think that altcoin has a great popularity when compared to other altcoins. so for now it looks like old altcoins that are worth keeping or buying are like Dogecoin, and Btt.

Every year there is something new and those coins that keep up with the market trend they gain value. Old coins are not good for investment unless they are constantly developing and keeping up with the rest of the cryptospace. Some of the old coins I had invested back in 2017 never came back to life while some of them gained 10x.

It's not a matter whether they are new or old, just a matter of how up to date they are when it comes to latest crypto technology.

I think old coins is no longer worth buying, because old coins are very behind, investors are now interested in the technological development of new coins, so I think buying old coins is very risky

Well, not all old coins are at risk. such as bitcoin, eth, BNB, XRP, and other coins. I see, most of the coins that dominate the top crypto are old coins. however, it all depends on the old coin you choose. So far, I'm also still trying to collect and hold ethereum, and I think, ethereum is one of the old coins that still has great potential today.

it's true that nowadays a lot of new coins are popping up so that the old coins are starting to erode their existence. but there are still some old coins that are still good to keep even though at this time new coins also have good prospects. if you really want to invest in old coins, then invest in coins that do have good and stable prospects in the market, we can look at the market and analyze the coins that are good. if we often look at the market, of course, we can also follow it well. that's important because if we can choose a good coin then the profit will be big too.

I totally agree with you mate, there are several old coins that are currently worth investing in, even, from my own perspective, old and still very active coins are more trust worthy to invest in than new coins, cus this ones have stood the test of time and prevailed, this show their level of legitimacy, but some of  the new coins might appear more promising but they are definitely more riskier to invest in because their foundation and strength aren't tested yet, they are more prone to fold and die if they get hit by a serious crypto winter.
But all being the same, one should always invest in new coins as well as old ones as long as they are proven legit in all aspects.

It's all a matter of staying ahead of the game in order to keep up with investor's demands in the mainstream world. Not every old coin is capable of doing this. Only those with active development and a vibrant community will be able to stand the test of time.

I usually tend to put most of my money on new coins because they're extremely profitable. Old coins are the last ones considered as a long-term investment (with the exception of Bitcoin and Ethereum, of course) because of the risks involved when "hodling" them. You can end up becoming a "bagholder" if the old coin you're investing into becomes abandoned in the long run. This happened to me with "Hodlcoin" where I've poured thousands of dollars into it only to lose everything thereafter. If the project will revive sometime in the future, is beyond me. But I think it's better to invest into tried-and-tested coins like Bitcoin and Ethereum than going into "uncharted waters". Just my thoughts ;D

Depending on the coin, it is worth or not. For example, Bitcoin is also an old coin as we all now. But we see that it has an overwhelming dominance in the market now. And it could be one of the most logical coins to invest into. And for example, Ethereum is also an old coin among the altcoins in the market. But I think that it is a good choice to invest into also.

You can buy old coins. There are still many old coins that are developing very well, but there are also some new coins issued. They are innovative on the basis of old coins, and they are more worth buying than old coins, but now some new coins Be careful when investing. There will be some scammers. If the old coins have no value, don't invest in the old coins.

There are some good old coins out there with real life utility like PundiX however as new projects are emerging, it is wise to learn from these older ones. I believe that these older ones are quite secure and much richer qualities compare to newer ones. However, newer ones like DeFi projects are hot due to its use cases and to generate passive income. Unless these old coins adopt and make positive improvements, they'll stay left behind.

Old coins are good for long term investment but at the moment I only have a small list of coins and I hope there is a list of old coins that I can choose from like the OP has, then I will try to hold on to it for a long time.

In my opinion, it's no longer worth buying old coins, let alone coins that don't have strong fundamentals. My advice is that you buy coins that have strong fundamentals and high liquidity. You need to know that Liquidity is one of the important factors that need to be considered before deciding to buy old coins or new coins. This is because liquidity can have a major impact in terms of exchange rates and future profits.

right, old coins are not necessarily good, many of them are not growing. to invest I suggest choosing a coin that is really trusted. especially new coins, beginners like me still find it difficult to identify a new project, many of them are scams, so we end up getting nothing. therefore it is better to choose the coin listed at the top on coinmarketcap

I think that it depends on the idea, if it is something innovative and useful, it is reasonable to hodl tokens of this project. But you definitely should follow the trading volume,as if it is low, other people are not interested in this project.

Also you should analyse their marketing: if they don’t run an ad and don’t attract public attraction, nothing will raise the price.

Old coins in the market are still worth to invest because they can still increasing and also will pump once the market will go bullish, sometimes because of the project itself. Remember in the first quarter of this year the market was bullish and many old coins pumping especially bitcoin we surprisingly it touched at $60k so for me old coins are still worth..
OP isn't talking about bitcoin, it is the king of crypto market and there is no doubt about the price rise of bitcoin. Lots of old altcoins can't flow with the bull trend of crypto market. Some of them become a dead project as the time flows. So, you should do some research before investing your money in any old project. Occasionally some new coins/DeFi project get huge success and take the position of old coins. Basically, it won't be a good idea to invest our money on any old coins which is going down continuously.

it doesn't matter to be on the old coin, as long as the coin is still active and the team is still able to handle the coin well. because we know there are old coins that still exist today for example cardano, litecoin, neo and still have potential. so don't hesitate to stay on old coins as long as you can analyze and choose good old coins

- Just look at the capitalization rates of the coins and the first two pages on CMC, the distribution of capitalization remains largely in the old coins, bitcoin is also an old coin but still occupies the first place, the next positions are also old altcoins, the capitalization of new altcoins is not competitive, sometimes they can grow rapidly in capital but they cannot store stability on the part of users. Users know which product's durability will be more suitable for them, new to them is only a temporary comfort

Old coins or tokens have proven to us that they can survive in a barren market. The high pump has already occurred and we can see potential assets and assets that rely solely on the hype from bitcoin.
those who thrive and get market support will surely grow well. but those who are dead without development may soon be removed from the exchange list.

The coins you mentioned are struggling in cryptocurrency market especially Peercoin but personally I don't think that these coins are on its last stage imo these coins may be a suitable option for long term personally I have expectations with Primecoin it's almost eight years old coin in cryptocurrency market and still trading with decent volume but the problem is it's not available on a notable exchange which is I think a main reason of its slow growth, the developers of Primecoin should consider to list xpm on a notable cryptocurrency exchange.

Old coin will be old coin if they are not evolve, so they are not worth to buy anymore if they did not do that. Cryptocurrencies related with renewal and trend, so IMHO, any project and company who follow that two things mentioned, they will be acceptable by audience.
It's a pity that the old coin like what OP said did not do much effort to evolve, i think they are too comfortable with their zone.

Yeap, I agree with you, the only things to do to survive it's adapt with the current market condition especially some coins with mainstream use case but it's didn't affect some coin with unique use case (Something like Decentralized Storage, CDN, etc), There are tons of old coins back from previous year before that was turned out to die since they can't develop the coin to become much better and adapt the market too.

If we analize old or exisiting coins this is the important thing to check , don't ever we trapped in project that die in developtment and nothing to build.  Website could not be benchmarket the project still active or not.

Exactly, either it was old or new coins, we need to be sure that coins are still active and we can find it out once we do a deep search. It needs extra effort and is time-consuming but our goal is to sure that we are investing the right coin, the right project, which seems to be worth it. Thus, if we are lazy and just relying on other's opinions on what coins to buy, we are also not sure about our future.

old coins don't necessarily have a guarantee that they will be good until now, many of them are the ashes of their current coin prices. besides being unable to adapt to current conditions, old coins usually cannot develop according to the whitepaper they had planned, so they eventually disappeared from the coinmarketcap list

The most important and time tested concept in life is change. If the old coins don't change their marketing tactics or business model then they're gonna be in trouble sooner or later.
You are definitely right. We can just look at Bitcoin. It is not developing, it is still using out-of-date Proof of Work and it is not likely to change it to Proof of Stake. On the other hand, those projects, whose devs add new features to their product and make it more convenient, attract the attention of users. Also advertisement and hype are really important. This way useless meme coins grew significantly during spring.

Old coins are still worth to hold but should be in the top coins in the market like bitcoin and ethereum. There are many old coins but few were not really improving, it's better in the top coins because those are still popular and it can make a new ATH in the future.

We can't hide the fact that old coins are more promising than newly created coins. That is why we are preferred to invest in them especially for the long-term investment. But that is not all about it, it also needs patience and market trust as this is the main reason why we are able to hold and calm. But if we are being controlled by our emotions, even investing old coins, promising coins, proven to be profitable had made no sense if we had just been in panic when seeing the market is in decline.

If the project is still progressing well, I guess it's no problem we buy old coins.
But if the project does not develop then we will get a loss because automatically the coin will certainly be ignored by investors.

In my portfolio there are always more old coins than new ones, including tokens. I always take new projects with caution and at the first opportunity I leave with a profit, it is safer for me.I think a lot of people have similar tactics.

that's a good tactic. because indeed every trader and investor should know when to exit and when to enter. lest we follow the hype and forget we have to go out with a profit.
I actually don't participate in investing in new projects except trading for bounty tokens.
the focus now is on top market assets in long-term trading or investment.

Nah they aren't worth it, the only old coins I would wanna bet on are the popular old coins like bitcoin, Ethereum , Litecoin etc, the rest I don't know what the future holds for them since they are using old technologies compared to the tech's the new projects are using, Old projects have all lost their communities to new projects which tend to offer more than they do, so investing in a project that is already going down slowly is a waste of money and time.

maybe if the old coins are update and investors are interested it might be a good idea to buy old coins, but what is happening now is that many new coins are popping up and embracing investors to invest in their coins or projects so that the old coins that used to be in demand are now left behind.

I think that not all old coins appreciate in value but if you want to choose coin you should select those coin which has secure and strong built foundation such as Solana and Dot. The value of various coins fluctuate in response of currency value. Some of old coins can be good for buying and making investment. But not all are true for buying.

Thank you. :)

Actually I would say, before thinking of going this route of investing or buying old coins, you will need to understand the type of old coin you want and your speculation about it , thus I am in agreement with your first paragraph. Crypto most of the times moves with trend, and this is key to the growth of most coins we see today, and funny enough only newer coins tend to tap into most the trend at that point in time, hence why it looks like old coins like the one mentioned have been forgotten.
Therefore the reason why I started with, understanding the old coin you want to buy is to know if the team of that coin are a flexible kind, who can try their best to incorporate what is happening in the crypto space at that point, if the team are then it's worth buying.
BNB is a coin whose team are always ready to try new things, hence the reason it is still relevant and bigger than most old coins. Every team needs to understand this, add their unique features and see their token regaining its worth overtime.

Right now? I don't think maybe if they can managed to go in BSC or probably a more better update they could be worth it, with the NFT, Memecoin, and DeFi the old projects was overshadowed by them I think they need to make a step in order to compete with this new projects, some old projects have a really live projects unlike this kind of trends we have now.

Very feasible, not to weigh the old coins left by investors, precisely those old ones are coins with strong fundamentals. they can survive earthquakes several times that are experienced in the cryptocurrency world. they are well worth investing in.

I think "old" coin sounds a little bit like the wrong wording. It somehow negatively connotes the fact that a coin has been around for a while, but that is actually a good thing. I wouldn't say it is old then. Rather say a long established coin or anything else that rather refers to the fact that it is not a pump and dump coin which is just old and not worth anything anymore.

buy it of course very worth it. but each asset has a different market character. some are better for day trading some are good for long-term investment.
all will be returned to the initial planning of the OP who wants to invest long-term or do day trading.
everything can be adjusted also with your own expertise. if we are better at trading skills I think we can try new coins with good hype. Old coins also exist that have that potential. but most new coins are very energetic for short trades.
but after all, old assets in the crypto market are assets that have really survived with such a long development project. I'm sure it must be very safe.

In this case I would think that there is a good chance old coins could take advantage of the new technologies as well, depending on the coin. Of course there are horrible coins that went lower and lower over time, but at the same time we had better and better improvements on some of the old coins as well.

Look at BNB for example, with emergence of DeFi world, they applied it right away and had BSC which allowed them to take advantage of all the profits from it, making BNB go from under 30 dollars to nearly 700 dollars one point and still 10x more than what it used to be. It is not a new coin at all and still managed to go up in the end.

There were also a lot of coins that were brand new and yet failed to garner any attention at all. All of which shows us that it is not about being new or old, it is about being able to adapt to whatever is the big deal of that period.

Still you can't ignore a lot of old altcoins those are strong fundamental. And also team's are so active to upgrade with new technology. Without a few coins mostly oldest coins will not up and down like new coins, So investors are desperately going to pick new ido, launched projects to make profit 5x,10x like that.

In such case investors who wanted for a quick ride will choose initial offering projects while conservative investors

will continue to buy old coins that have solid foundations, they are aware that even in a small profits is better than

being stuck and loss their investment for buying new tokens.

Old coin you said, it depends on the coin which you are referring to, their are some old coins out there which has no future any more, why there are others which are also a good choice of investment, you just have to make your research before making your choice. On like me I bought an old coin which I earned during bounty years back. Late last year I bought the token and it's currently 2$ as of the time of this comment.

I think so. Despite the fact that they look overwhelmed and ponderous, the last bull run showed that even these coins show excellent profits during the global growth.
Therefore, choose coins that meet modern standards and have fewer competitors in their field.

You do not  just buy old coins because they have succeeded in the past. There are a lot of old coins that succeeded but are now stagnant because the team have abandoned the project. Try to research coins that the team are actively updating and innovating. It's not all old coins that are worth buying.
What is certain is that before buying we have to do our own research and analysis.
and whether old coins or new coins I think it's worth buying and of course it depends on the results of research and analysis

I also regularly monitor the old coins on the Coinmarketcap list, and I am looking forward to investing in them. But unfortunately the developer has abandoned the coin, so there is no progress whatsoever. Only a few exchanges have listed the coin, so we can't move to an exchange that we use frequently.
if the case has been abandoned by the developer. it will end badly. although there is usually a change of position with someone else if the new person holds it will usually make changes from the project planning developed.
if there is already a greater risk it's better to look for another project, there are many other projects that are better with less risk I'm sure.

Buying old coins for the sake of it is not a good way to go about investments. The truth is, even with all the Defi craze, its only the most exclusive projects that see huge success, so it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things if you invest in a new type of coin or an old coin
What matters is the quality of the project

There are still a lot of old coins that are still good and if we want to keep some old coins of course the risk is a little and even though there are developments such as NFT and DEFI, of course, old coins will also develop following developments that occur, so there is no harm if we keep saving old coins for now.

Yes old coins are worth it and If you are going to pick old coins for your next investment,  find something that has an active community with people that talk about its development, something  that people use not only as a store of value, it has to have a way it grows in value for example it could be the fuel for a blockchain, it might give you voting rights, anything in those lines you should be good to go.

I agree with you, especially if we talk about DASH...I believe this coin will hit its ATH once again or at least a half, 700 or 800$ will not be a hard think for dash
I like dash and it's one of the most liked masternodes and privacy coins that we've ever got. The ATH wasn't met again when we have entered the bull run. But it's not that late as this coin is still one of the top coins. This is more desirable rather than choosing a new pump and dump altcoin that's being made by developers and goes with the meme. It's still better to choose the old coins that has been circulating in the market for years. If you ever have a trust issue with the altcoins that you invest, this is better to choose than the newer ones.

But other old coins now have become inactive that's why nobody is investing and they are not worthy now.

active or not if it is still traded on the exchange, also still has good liquidity I think it is still worth choosing.
but indeed sometimes the price movements of the tokens are manipulated from the exchange, some are just following the pump and dump of bitcoin.
the new coins may now be more fun for traders. because the hype is fast and those who can control the situation can certainly benefit.

world There will always be new cryptocurrencies in the market. Some old coins will be destroyed. The new coins will replace the old ones. The amount of wealth will continue to increase. In the future, most people will trust cryptocurrencies the most. Will be interested in investing more, Cryptocurrencies have good prospects in the future

Old tokens/coins that exist today and are already on several exchanges that have a fairly high volume, it can be said that this can be safer to buy compared to new tokens which are still minimal in exchange. Sure, multiple listings on the Exchange are no guarantee to last longer. But, at least, choosing an old token/coin that the development team is still active is a better decision than choosing a new token that has no products and services at all like meme tokens. Likewise with the prediction of potential tokens for long-term hold. This is also not a guarantee, because many projects are only good at the beginning but bad at the end. Of course, if you wants to playing with High risk, you can take decision to buy new tokens like using AMM (Uniswap, Quickswap, Pancake), but when you are put wrong tokens, maybe it will be never recovered and dead .

Of course old coins have a huge price in the market. Not all old coins are valuable. For example, suppose there are some coins that occupy the top spot in the market, such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Binance. Etc.No matter how old they are, they will always have a market value and will be one of the best coins in the market.

Whether old or new, once a token outlives its usefulness it will get dumped. It really doesn't matter when it was created. The tokens you mentioned may not be relevant in the scheme of things in today's world anymore. Investment isn't done based on sentiments and emotions but on fact and feasibility. No one can force any to put their money where their heart isn't. Old projects need to keep up with programmes just the same way they marshal out new ones to keep investors thrilled.

Buying the old coin is not worth anymore except the popular old coins like doge, litecoin or something
The mention of dogecoin for a thriving old project goes a long way to show that we shouldn't give up on old projects that have utility, no matter what.

In my opinion, if the old coin is from an ICO project, then it is not worth buying and keeping for the long term. Many coins from ICO projects do not survive and are of no value in the long term because they do not have strong fundamentals. Some even went missing on the exchange after a few months.
To be specific too, there are many ICO projects that became successful and are now established in the market and those ICO projects from 2016 to 2017 were mostly the successful ones.
But to those that have started to run their ICOs on the period of 2018, that was the year where most of the ICOs were a failure. It's due to the scams and people got fed with the pump and dump scheme that has been common before that period due to some influential people that's also happening right now. To those that have went missing, it's the exchange's decision to delist them if they find them no longer liquid.

It's just about the latest trends because in the past there were also many projects that did not bring the concept of DeFi or NFT in their inventions, and now these two things must be brought into the project because DeFi and NFT already have a lot of good responses from investors.

There are two opportunities that I often hear from people to analyze a coin, both of which are almost completely true if I pay close attention. First, when the coins are issued, usually in the next 2 or 3 months they will slowly rise. Second, this moment will be repeated once again, but not for long.

Sometimes keeping too long a coin also doesn't mean anything, considering that every coin has the right time to be at the maximum number, but not all coins have this opportunity.

Strong fundamental coin usually have slow paced of developing their project, just like ETH which planned ETH 2.0 since 2 years ago. But this kind of coin is having a strong fundamental and solid holders behind, so the price won't crashed just like other coins which has roadmap to fully operated in just 1 year development.

The old tokens/coins that I have in mind are actually more ancient like Lisk or ETC. Or probably coins that have been in the bullrun in 2017, undergoes a bear market since 2018 but got out alive still. I can see them still alive today even on the top 20 on CMC. I'd like to believe they are going o be profitable to hold. My pick this time is WAVES because the price isn't more than $100 yet.

These coins are either dead or defunct. And in the cryptocurrency sector, it is very rare to see coins that have been dead for so many years being revived. The promoters of these coins have moved on to other projects, and other developers are not interested in them because there is no premine advantage for them. In short, it is not like investing in stocks that have fallen by 99%. With stocks, you can say that there is still a 1% chance of getting revived. But with dead coins, the chance is like 0.00001%.

You said it yourself already. If a project doesn't carry DeFi nor NFT in its discovery, just forget it. These are the two selling points for the crypto and they're not on the brink of settling for less as they keep skyrocketing with much adoption from investors.

They pay according to their work, they can't be forced to pay more, if investors start to like a lot the payment will automatically increase, I agree with what you say.

Forget it if the project does not bring Defi or NFT, there are other more interesting ways for them to do, if this opportunity cannot be maximized, why do we depend on such conditions, which are not necessarily true and real for us to participate.

Thank you. :)

Two things I caught from the results of your post?
1. When is the right time to buy.
2. Saving coins for the long term.

In my opinion, these two things are different, to see how far the right time to buy is when market conditions are not good. In such conditions we take advantage of buying some coins that we believe have good bargaining value in the future.

While storing long-term coins, people usually buy meme coins, because this kind of coin gives the best level the following year, in contrast to coins that are ranked in the top 10.
maybe you can adopt this method, if in your view this is profitable.

It depends what kind of coin if it's Bitcoin (which is the very first) of course it is worth it but if you are talking about other altcoins before the DeFi and NFT I'm not really sure about that maybe you should check what's update with them. I've seen some projects that turn into DeFi I think they were upgrading or catching up with what's hype today.

Almost every old altcoins on the market have given its investors the best ROI on their investment. With time there is growth with every altcoin. Also the buying price is affordable to buy as a whole compared to the leading cryptocurrencies that has reached peak values. For long term profiting old altcoins are always the right choice, because to stand long-term on the market isn't that simple.

If The Project is strong then its buying is worthy.Bad projects have already get out from Market. Although some projects had gave profit in past few years  but now there are no where in the market because they were not strong based. They are replaced by some strong projects having good market cap.

Seeing the movement of old coins that are open to the top 100 coinmarkets is difficult, but old coins that are still worth investing in I think DOGE, LTC, XLM, ADA.
but it all depends on how you see the future. As far as I'm concerned, for now to many new coin and now  how to  strong they are in the crypto market and how strong their appeal to investors is. and how strong they are in innovating and marketing their projects

It's fair argument. Most of the old coins tend to become abandoned by developers as they move onto the next big thing in crypto. Nowadays, it's all about "De-Fi" and NFTs while old coins are being left behind in the dust. The only exception would be old coins like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Dogecoin. These coins will survive in the long run while the rest will go down the drain. I'd suggest anyone to put most of their money into new coins, while putting the rest into prominent old coins on the market. That way you'd minimize risks as much as possible. New coins are highly profitable in the short term, but most of them usually disappear over time. Only a few manage to survive because of their communities supporting them every way. What's important is Blockchain technology above all else. As long as Blockchain is alive, nothing else matters. Just my thoughts ;D

old coins sometimes don't last long in the crypto industry but not all of them. basically Cryptocurrency is related to updates and trends, so IMHO, any projects and companies that follow the two things mentioned, they will be acceptable to the audience. it's currently 2021 and it's a shame that old coins like the OP said: peercoin, quark & primecoin are not evolving well.
Many old coin left by their owner and is not good for investing because without any new development from the owner impossible old coin can be success and back to higher price, but you can invest with old coin if exist update every new partner by the owner, give many offer for investor and make many new schedule to make price up, most important want get new partner and support their coin keep raise up.

Not all old coins are worth to buy as some of it are as good as dead in my opinion. If you really want to buy old coins, prefer buying those old coins that are trendy which cause many people to buy but most of the coins trends didn't last very long but still many people use. If you don't like the old coins anymore why not buy eth or btc if you can't decide which coins to buy.
