Title: How do you know when to sell?
Post by: hertznetwork on June 15, 2021, 03:16:32 AM
I know its an individual thing, but if you are in an alt and it is pumping...when is the best time to sell? I feel as though every-time I am in a coin that starts to make some good gain I leave it to long to sell..Anyone else do that. I heard it is because of greed, we star imagining all things we can do with our new profits, but the longer we leave it the more chance of not making good profits. Does anyone have a good strategy for knowing when to sell?

Have you done any technical analysis before getting into trades? T.A will probably be one of the most important guidelines to set your target price. It could an inverse level of the leg of the move, or when the trend fails to hold the price, etc. Commonly, people who leave their trades unattended due to being overconfident that the price will continue to go up without setting a target price in mind will surely lose their profit and time in the long run.

It also depends on your bankroll management/ risk management. There are people who decide to close their position when they have 2-5% of profit or perhaps, psychologically speaking when they are happy with the returns. Remember that R/R will give a hint to know when the pull yourself in and out of the trade.

@OP, the goal is to have a consistent winning trade that you can duplicate over time to survive in the long run. Also, there are a plethora of trading strategies out there that you need to backtest, forward test, accuracy test to determine which works best for you.

When you feel the price already too high and that coin doesn't has any usage. I.e DOGE, SHIB, ELON, AKITA and other shitcoins. If you HODL promising altcoin which is promising such like BNB, CAKE, BUNNY, MDEX, and etc, you don't need to sell it until it reached moon

You, I and anyone else will never meet the maximum profit, no trader really manages to sell at the peak on pumped coins unless it's luck and accident.
TA is useless if emotions dominate your trading. So let the TA do the most of the work and decide. That will help you set profit targets.

Does anyone have a good strategy for knowing when to sell?

Simple answer to your question is to always have a strategy for investing in any project you pick interest in, without a strategy you'll be left vulnerable to the market. The strategy should involved an entry point as well as an exit or take profit point.

The take profit could be in batches but irrespective of what strategy you come up with, your initial investment should always be secured as the market especially that if altcoins is very unpredictable.

There are many scenario that could play out like after you sell the coin keep raising in value or when you neglect selling it dumps in value but if you have secured your initial capital you won't be affected.

When the altcoin price is pumping, you just wait. When the pump stops and the price is in a situation, where you don't know whether it will go up or down, you sell. ;D
The price might go up again, after you sold your coins, but you shouldn't regret about the profits you missed.
The price will eventually drop below the level, where you sold your coins,so you could buy again. ;D
This sounds like a rookie advice, but almost all altcoins act the same say-pump and dump cycles.
I believe that HODLing in the long term is a wrong approach, when it comes to trading altcoins.

Listen dude, the evil between us in only the greed.
If you can control it then you will win any war that you are thinking to fight.
According to my personal knowledge and experience, i set a fix percentage when to cash out.
I also do a lot of research like how much the coin will rise and what the great traders are expecting the coins results.
After reviewing all the above info , i set a profit target and sell the coin when it reaches it.
Hope this helps you OP, and clears some of your doubts on your mind.

There are many entry exit strategies in the market, you have to study them to understand them. Read the article of https://www.investopedia.com entry exit point, I hope you understand after reading the article when exiting from the trade.

CoinBureau is in my opinion one of the best crypto youtubers out there and not too long ago he published a video about exit strategies, how to recognize exit points and which indicators are available. The video lasts about 25 minutes, but it is really informative and easy to understand even for a trading novice:

When to SELL Your Altcoins: Complete Guide!! 📈 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGd6O79_MOc)

The video focuses on altcoins but the strategies presented can be used for BTC, too.

The rule still remain sell high and buy low. It all depends if you depend on fundamental or technical analysis or you use both to analyze the direction of the market.  For you to sell it.depend if after your analysis you discover series of lower lows on the chat you sell and wait for a change in trend before buying back by so doing you make extra profits outside the regular hodling policy. It's not really easy to analyze as such but with consistent practice you would become a pro at thism

Depends on your contentment, if you are already happy with 10% profit then you can sell right away and reinvest that money in other project. You have to set your target price and cut loss level, this should be done right before you execute your trade. Analyze the price chart, this is the best strategy using indicators so you can know when to sell or buy. Personally, 20% profit is my minimum but if the market is still bullish I adjust that limit.

If you are particularly talking about altcoin then I won't recommend it for you to hold forever, just sell it when you are in the bump because as far as I know when an alt bumps too much it will fall down very soon and there are only few exceptions to it since those coins are influenced by famous people like Elon Musk.

Title: Re: How do you know when to sell?

As long as you can see an increase in the price after you bought, you can sell it right away without waiting for the other high price because that will not always happen.
When you do not sell the coin because you believe that the price can increase more than the current price in the next days or weeks, you can still hold your coin and wait for that time.
If you hold the coin while the price already increases, you become greedy and want bigger profit, which is not always happening.
So you should have a target price to sell so you do not feel confused when it is the best to sell.

when is the best time to sell

Imho you cannot pinpoint the best time to sell unless it have already passed.
So you have to have a plan and stick to it. Sell 10% at price X, sell other 20% at price Y, buy more if it falls under Z.
Greed may or may not help you, it may make you rich or may make you bagholder, depending on the coin.
And if possible, diversify to minimize the risk (this usually also means to keep 50%+ in BTC)

Of course, you have to make your own decisions, don't follow blindly any advice. Your money, your decisions, your responsibility.

As long as I've made a gain, that's all it. There's no need to wait for any moment that it will go more than the gain is, as long as I'm very much satisfied with the gains that I've got with it, I have no other complaints. Especially if that alt is about to be dumped by me and I'm only waiting for the right moment for it to sell. You can hold for long if you truly believe what's on it. And you just do the typical strategy, you sell at profit and wait for it to become cheaper to eventually buy back.

Does anyone have a good strategy for knowing when to sell?

Your selling price should be your own decision, I know that all of us want to sell at the ATH to maximize the profit but there is really no way to know that. If you are contented with your profit then you can sell that altcoin, don't regret even if it goes higher. Learn to control your emotion when you are getting greedy, just think of what will happen if you didn't sell and that altcoin starts dumping. There is no right time to sell, it is just our greediness that consumes us when the market is rallying.

Well it depends on the type of coin you're holding, the profit margin you want to get and what the market is doing at the time, and whether holding it longer will realistically be in your favour of holding.

As a rule of thumb, try to get out when you can be happy with x amount of profit, and if no profit at all then you might need to think if you should still sell at a loss or continue to hold. And, yes, don't get greedy if you can make a healthy profit - take it!

To sell at High, of course. But the question is when?
In that case, it was an individual decision. It is a need for us to analyze the market so well and think we become lucky to sell it at the highest price before it falls.

I certainly can't tell you nor someone could tell that. The only thing I can suggest to you is not to be greedy, having 5-10% was enough for me.
You have to set a target price when to sell, this will help you to determine when to sell.

I actually do a simple trick with it .I just set a price where i really wanna sell my coin i don't get panicked after it and i never ever forget to set my stop loss .Fortunately i never fall to touch and hit the stop loss .Its  because i never buy any shitcoin which can pump within a second and get lost within second .I wait patiently after entering the market and hold my nerve until i get my goal .

There is no good strategy about selling because you will not know whether it will go north or sideways. All you can do is take the profit whenever you see one.
That's trading. You don't cling to the coin or the project, you are like the devil that could move part of the market and holders will hate you sometimes.
Long term trading is a difficult to handle, there will always be greed like you said but if you have a plan and focus on that, then you might earn a substantial amount of profit from it.
But it's not an easy way. You may have to blind yourself for months just so you wouldn't see the volatility. It could be dumped where you will panic or will be pumped where you get greedy.

To be honest, I also missed the opportunity to sell some alt yesterday, and now hope the price can return to yesterday's price.
however, because of this, I think that no one really knows when prices are really high. Besides, I think when prices are really high, not everyone will sell, and some people still expect high prices or haven't hit their targets. to be honest, yesterday's price increase has not reached my target, but looking at the current price, I feel that the price is enough. Right now, I don't know if the price will go up or not, but it seems the right time to sell is when you have made a big profit.

My strategy on selling my coin is simple; I try to speculate future value of my coin from the moment I make the first buy ( I could buy more considering the project is progressing) I use the supply, the utility , the technology and community to judge my specuoated value. And once my price target is met! I sell without looking back or forward to better pricing!

First of all, never leave it long to sell. That's not a strategy, that's a death wish. Most of the alts will be pumping and dumping. Don't think that alts will keep on pumping like Bitcoin. The best strategy is to start selling once it reaches 2-3x of your buy price.

there are some useful indicators for that mate,  and i highly recommend to watch some videos especially in YouTube, because to be honest there's a bunch of traders nowadays who's already made a back testing to some indicators and have proofs that it's very accurate when it comes hodling short term or longterm / buying and selling in the right time.  Its good to watch than reading mate, because you know what's the difference ..  Indeed its good when it comes video tutorial because its very informative and you can easily follow the steps ..

Every trader sets a limit. When the coins hits his target he will sell his coins. Do not get greedy when you see that the coin you have invested in is pumping. Just set a target a nd sell the coin. Also see the market trends, usually after a  few weeks of pump you will see a slight market correction. Trust your gut feeling.

Usually I set up the goal for every trading I make. For example if I do day trading then I set up the goal for loss = 10% and then profit for 20%. The number could be changed if we are in alt season like today. You may think that you can loss potential profit if you make the goal like that, but that doesn't matter for me because that's my own decision.

^ Altcoin holding is not profitable in a long term especially those new projects listed on an exchange, if you are going to ask me when to sell. I am going to sell with the desired amount that I can get and you are right, there is no need to be more greedy on getting profit, sometimes you need to decide when is the perfect time of selling your crypto asset. As long as you did not sell under the price where did you bought your coin, and you get profit. That is all right if you will sell but sometimes DYOR will be made us in a correction decision, if you think they are not worth it hold, it is up to you.

If it is really pumped, maybe i will sell in 10-30% and get my capital back. And save the rest i mean about rest of my profit in that altcoin, maybe still pumped i can get more profit with it. If not, and i sell it when price back, maybe it is only reduce my profit and at least my capital already safe.

If I see that many of the traders in the exchange platform I would surely cut at least 30 to 50% of my assets to sell it for sure.
Though, I'm not using any of the Technical analysis even others knows that this is not accurate due to the market was to volatile and
unpredictable.

i think that is a good method for getting back your money and staying in safe zone, but talking about most of the people become the victims of greed and they keep on holding and holding so unfortunately majority can't get their expected money.
by the way my method for trading is that, if i get my expected profit then i withdraw my money and do not care about more pump.

Actually, there's no way to know when to sell because ever since crypto price movement is always unpredictable.  But you can always have your own research in that way on how good that project coin you're holding on to.  Because usually, altcoins followed Bitcoin price movement, so there's no way to predict them not unless there's a group manipulating them through pump and dump.

However, if you want to sell high with your desire profit, you can bid that in the trusted market exchange with the high price compared to the current price and come back once it is sold.  That's my strategy when I want to sell my token, at least I know where to cut my profit and yes, there's no need to be greedy at all than nothing.

When the price hits the peak and RSI hits the overbought, it's best to sell but some are just trying to make more money by waiting for it to really go way up high and end up losing instead. Call it greed but they sometimes just don't sell because they believe holding is going to make them more money. Not realizing its going to make them wait for long period of time before it could go up again.

Yes, that's right we don't meet the maximum profit that what we wanted because of how volatile the market is. TA does help the works to easily spot the right time to sell you just have to put a limit to your expectations and proceed to gain profit if you have the chance to trade it.

Being greedy will cause a trader to lose concentration and it's a normal cause that someone will be controlled by their emotions. So always put a limit to what you are expecting and proceed to gain what you could have. You will be thankful that you didn't fall to the greedy side.

You can actually Know how to sell if you manage to learn some tools like technical analysis. Those indicators that you tend to understand like Bollinger Bands , RSI, etc. Some of them has closing marks, crossed lines, etc. That can be a sign for you to sell or to buy.

Or if you dont have any TA and a simplr trader who rely on the market price, sell off your altcoins in your profit goal. Like for example setting up 5-10% profit and when the market hit that goal, sell it off.

I have a simple trick when I have to sell, or I try to sell when I have something accumulated, the strategy is as follows:

See the market and determine in what stage of the market it is, if it is in the Distribution stage it is sold (this is when millionaires sell) it is always good to sell when millionaires do and buy when millionaires buy, it is the only way out with market success. In addition to realizing in what stage of the market I am applying Wyckoff's theory, for me at this moment the BTC is in an initial bullish stage, and it still needs to be developed, right now if I had BTC I would not sell BTC, not even because it comes out Elon Musk in conjunction with another celebrity doing FUD.

right, for major coins, maybe we hold it longer, because it is safe. but for coins or tokens that are not at the top of the list, I also immediately sell when the price increases high, because after the pump, many events immediately dump and it seems difficult to reach the top price again

The right time to sell cryptocurrencies is when the currencies start to rise. But the issue of selling will usually depend on the trader in which currency he has invested and how much he will rise in the market bitcoin and ethereum currencies are profitable for long term investments it is not good to wait too long for other currencies as it is very difficult to predict the future of these currencies. I don't wait too long he sells his capital if he makes some profit from it a good time to hold on when prices fall.

... Does anyone have a good strategy for knowing when to sell?

Many traders prefer to sell the coin in parts when the price reaches the next resistance level. But I prefer this strategy, when the entire position is held until a new ATH is reached. In this case, you need to move the stop loss when the resistance level begins to act as support.

I heard it is because of greed, we star imagining all things we can do with our new profits, but the longer we leave it the more chance of not making good profits. Does anyone have a good strategy for knowing when to sell?
it depends on your decision, you have to listen to your heart...

when you buy an altcoin and then the altcoin is bull then you have to sell it because it will most likely go down again but often greed is more heard. Thinking that the price of the altcoin you bought will continue to rise is a trap of greed. sell it when you've made a profit, no matter how big it is but you've already made a profit.

I will go with you Renampun here... people should follow their heart! Simply the price fluctuations are crazy... on a daily, weekly, yearly basis! Waiting for the bottom or top can be a missed opportunity, people should listen to their hearts and get in and out when they feel it's good for them! And to not regret a missed opportunities, they will come again... just don't rush, when we rush we make more mistakes!
One more thing... look around and when you see people are bearish you need to sell, when they are bullish you need to buy! Somehow market always does the opposite of what the masses want!

Best time to sell is when you do already make gains and dont ask for more increase or percentage because this is where people do commonly commit mistakes on where they do tend to ask for more even they do had already the chance.

Dont make yourself greedy and secure while you can because earning opportunity doesnt really comes often thats why when you see greens then already secure it out.

With proper experience and knowledge towards the market then you can eventually point out on when those right timing in terms of selling and
buying and this will vary into each trader or investor.

I think the best time to sell an altcoin is at its peak, which is when it first reaches ATH because if you miss the train it might be difficult to get it back.
But remember, you invest because you want to profit and not to become quickly rich.
So don't be greedy...

yes, It was an individual decision and you must have to use your instinct. Sell at high and make good returns are what we aim for, so it means that once the price is shooting up, that is the time to sell them.

There is no such perfect time to sell as we never know the market, but it supposed to be done when it pumps. We'd sometimes regretting as after we sell our coins the price pumps more but it should not be a big deal, as long as we are already in profit, we have nothing to regret. We learn to be contented.

To be honest, talking about the best time to sell it certainly lies on us. If ever I say sell it now because it dumps by tomorrow, I don't think you will do it. Of course, you have to see the market first and have some analysis. To sell at the peak it was you who decide it and it was the best option and might be the best time as well. Only we choose those times that we think that we are in profit.

Another simple way is, this kinda sounds dumb but in reality, it could work.
How to know when to sell is very similar to how to know when to buy.
You know when how to buy, you should also know when to sell.

Try to invert your chart, and if you using supports and resistance, you gonna know. Your chart is inverted, you will enter (sell) trade on the breakout or dip right? So that's the time you can sell too. Opposite of buying.

Every trader want to sell at all time high. It's upto traders mind when he going to sell. Every traders has their own formula of taking profits. Some of them has buy with big money then he will be Profit in very short green chart. He might sell out on that point. Some will looking for bigger green chart. I would like to say selling is totally depends on traders mind when he like to book profit.

Not necessarily. All theoretical approaches may not work piratically. I mean unless you are too good in technical analysis then you will never get any idea on buying and selling with the help of same approaches. This is the reason most traders are fixing their target levels at 10% or 20% from their buying prices. This may work but definitely lead to big regrets when they miss big rallies.

When we are good in fundamental things then we can go for continuous holding without worrying about when or where to sell still the target booking level will be based on our idea and may not be at the trend revering price levels.

I don't after that much, I already satisfied with the 5-10% returns unless if I can see a huge potential on the market rally. It is very important to have TA's but even we are good at this, still can't guarantee that it works perfectly, we can't really have that due to its volatility.

Sometimes it needs luck and hoping to have a right placing of the sell order. Well, I do mine, and I sell when I think it is the perfect time to do it.

Well, for me, there's no particular strategy that works well, altcoins differ from each other and so are there selling strategies supposed to differ too, the best strategy I know for now is setting a target, but this does not work for every altcoin out there, one just have to know how good the altcoin he or she invested in is, this will help you determine a realistic price that altcoin is likely to get to or rise up to, then set a sell target there and wait for it to hit, this will require some discipline cus in between the current price of that altcoin and your set target price, there will be alot of ups and downs, if you know how to trade, you can seize that opportunity to sell high, buy more of that altcoin when it lows, then sell high again and buy even more when it lowers again, continue with this strategy until the altcoin finally hits your target sell price, at this time, you can sell and exit that altcoin for another or continue trading the highs and lows of the altcoin.
This is my best strategy so far, but I understand this can't work for everyone as this is easier to say than done, not everyone have the kind of patience required to apply this strategy successfully.

and before doing that of course we also need to analyze market movements so that we can make the right decisions,
what is clear is that we sell when we make a profit

I think you should just involve yourself in technical analysis and data learning in the crypto market. Those learnings and guides will set as your guideline or stronghold resource whenever you are in doubt or need of assistance yourself if you are going to buy or not. Your techniques should include strategies and smart move or action points in the timeline to benefit from your action and take advantage and purposely sell it or some again for more profit. Good luck.

Seriously man he is one of the best and gives practical advices according to the market not making any false claim or promoting shitcoins in his channel. He has some Technical experience of the market as well and I started to watch his videos a year back when I was also suggested by one of the member. You can try to learn from him and along with it gain experience of the market, do research, read books, study the chart, have a look at news that can affect the prices of your coins. One of the strategy is to make profit for example you have invested at $500 suppose and the prices now are at $700 and you don't know next move just cash out your $200 profit and stand at your base of $500 and then notice the market reaction. You have to make your own strategy to struggle in the market and grow with intlectual mind and risk taking capabilities.Set your threshold limit upto which you can hodl. You will automatically come to know that whether to sell or not as there is no fixed time for buying or selling and it all depends on how you make effective choice at that time.

Exactly. He even announces new videos about lesser known coins weeks before posting them on Youtube without mentioning a concrete date to prevent pumps and dumps. That's very honest in my opinion and shows, that he definitely doesn't want to manipulate prices with his videos whereas other crytpo influencers have no scruple to shill their own bags.

sell when you are able to take profit even if a little, but will come back again how your trading strategy, whether you want to trade long term or short term. of course if you want to do trading in the short term you have to make a profit every time even if only a little and keep doing that and of course you will get a lot of profit. and if you want long term, save it until your target is achieved.

If the altcoin is pumping, that will be a good time to sell, especially if the price can reach our target price. Having a target price will be important so we can sell and make a profit. Besides that, we can prevent the greediness that will comes if the price increase higher. If you ask about when is the best time to sell, that will depend on yourself because we have different strategies for selling the coin.

Maybe you can sell the coin when the price increase by 20% from the price you bought. If that happens, you can sell it right away and do not look back to the coin because that can make you want to buy back the coin. And if you do that, you might buy the coin at a high price while you do not know if the price can still increase or not, and there is nothing you can do except hold for more if the price is down suddenly.

If you are using Technical analysis, You can easily tell your selling point. There are few indicators to use to know your about to sell, RSI is my favorite indicator since it works for me the best. Checking if the coin is overbought during a large movement could help you to decide if you will sell or not. Trading action with basis could make your take profit worth it since it could identify the best possible profit you can get.

It's definitely an individual thing, knowing when to sell is very important in order not to lose out on the profit you have already made, I think the best way to know when to buy or sell a coin is through Technical analysis (T.A) , because with technical analysis you can predict the future price of a coin to an extent, even though it doesn't always go as planned since fud can come out anytime, doing a T.A will help alot in determining when to sell a particular coin.

Those type of strategies are the reason why people who know economics will always profit in the long run. Obviously you can never know which coins will go up at all times, there is no person who trades at 100% correct rate, however if you know what to do when going down and what to do when going up, if you are always ready for whatever happens, if you know why you should buy something at which time and when you should sell it, then you have a great deal of chance.

I have a friend who is a professional auditor (I hope that is the word, doing audit) and dude got into crypto in the worst possible moment at 2018 bear market and turned his 20k into 2+ million dollars, to be frank he did a lot of it during this past year but he was at around 120k anyway at the start of 2020 as well, which means 6x increase from 2018 to 2020 and in 2 years so that is still quite good, then in the bull market for the past 1.5 years he turned that into even bigger profit, how? Well he knows how economics works, crypto or fiat.

I don't see it that way, no. Indicators can certainly not be used to "easily" determine whether you should sell or not. Take a look at the RSI you mentioned in the BTC bull phase from January to early May. You would have had to sell based on the RSI at the end of March and would have missed out on a lot of profit.

An indicator is exactly what the name says, it points to something, but you can and must never rely on it blindly.

The right time to sell is when the price is overbought or the price is at its peak or at the top resistance.
But in general the best time to sell is when you've earned a few percent profit and then sell it. Usually it has been determined in advance what percentage of the target to be achieved. It all depends on the initial strategy, but technically Overbought Resistance becomes a benchmark for selling assets and depends on the Time Frame how overbought will be seen.

I think it is depends on what coin that i hold because if not a big coins, i prefer to be safe than gain. I mean there are bigger chance other altcoin can be dumped hard after pumped especially some new coins that just listed. So it is better to take profit immediately if we see there are good chance to sell our coins.

Well, you can use a tool on this like market price tracker and the last one is automated trading tools to execute orders so sell if you are in trading.
But it is very simple to determine a good project to hold if the team is still active in the community, there is a chance that the coin will grow but if the scenario were opposite and perhaps that coin will become shitcoin that totally did not have value in the market. However, you can also get profit if you will see that your profit was there and that is the right time to get profit. Cryptocurrencies in nature are not predictable, --which means there is no way to know when to sell.

I will simply set a certain target of price rising up to take the profits. I am learning from my own experience while being too greedy by not taking profits when it has reached more than 20% and the price is dropped. Well, I am sure that everybody has a different target. However, I personally always use around a maximum of 70% of my asset to trade after reaching a certain increasing-price during 24 hours, and of course, it must be balanced with analyzing the market changes. And then the least will be saved for long term investment (but of course this is only for top coins if you are trading hype coins which ar every very risky, you must as soon as possible taking profits if it has reached your own profit target because may be falling down very deep after rising up. watch out for this kind of shitcoins). If it's because of greed then expect that no one will sell even it's pumping because of the mindset that the price will increase more.

When to sell? It depends on how you looked at the situation. Create your own criteria as following others might not work for you.

And more importantly, trust your analysis. If you want to sell, then do it without hesitation. If the price goes up more, then just wait patiently for a downtrend. Don't feel regret for it as you can always take a chance to make an entry. As you progress, that question should now be easy for you. Experience will tell you how to deal with that.

There is no hard to determine when to sell. If you bought Bitcoin at $32k and when it reaches $38k, you can sell it. I'm not seeing it was a perfect price to sell but at least we gain some profit. And in the first place, we never know when exactly the market will pump even we use trading tools or anything. I'm not aiming for x10, x100, so if there is a chance and I know I was already in profit, I'll take those opportunities, instead.

And you also don't know when the price is going to dump. It could happen so quickly you can't even click your mouse yet and the price could dump as low as 20%. So when you profit a little and you see it's almost unlike to happen when there is no news that causes its leap, sell it. Taking profit is not bad, its normal that the price will always be dragged down when you know people are going to dump before you.

if we want short-term trading, I think 20% profit for each transaction is very good, in contrast to long-term trading where 100% may feel less to take profit. and I think 100% can also be achieved in a short time, when the price is experiencing a pump. The main thing is that we must know when to get out of the market, don't be controlled by greedy feelings
It is not easy to make a 20% profit in short-term trading as the market will not always give that chance. But as long as you can see enough profits, that will be good for you to sell and make money. Perhaps, 10% profit in short-term trading will also be good as this percentage can be seen many times at the market, which will not make us difficult if we want to make a profit. Sometimes, we will get more bonuses from the market because the price will experience a pump that can comes anytime.

You're absolutely correct about leaving the profit to run because we start imagining things we could buy with it, the cars and posh things. Well, it's the insatiable appetite in every man. There's nothing wrong in doing that. However, you've to be certain you know why a token you're holding is pumping before selling off. If it's pumping because there's an incoming development or programme or collaboration, then still hodl it. Selling off at that point will be premature. But if a token is pumping because someone who has a large subscriber base or followers said buy, then just take your profit immediately it gets to your risk level and run for it's a pump and dump.

Does anyone have a good strategy for knowing when to sell?
There's no holy grail. Trading is speculative in nature. Your best bet will be to rely on leading indicators and if there isn't any news to distort it, price will surely do what the indicators predict it will do.

Yes, I totally agree. As long as it reach to the peak of the amount you wanted then it is already ready. When you know you already reach your goal on it and you think your satisfied for the amount and you've gain a lot then there's nothing to complain. You can hold or wait when it experiences downfalls because everything is worth the wait.

Crypto trading is risky and no one know the perfect time to sell cause market prediction will never provide 100% accurate result but what's important is you understand the risk involve in crypto market, understand the promising level of the project/coin you picked interest in and set an exit plan.

It just only pure speculation, we live in this market where we are not 100% about the incoming. We never know when to sell and as well as when to buy. We usually use our common sense and this is really hard for those who are not good at this. What I mostly did in making a decision when to sell, is when the time has come that I'll be seeing some profit.

You can’t tell the right time to sell in the cryptocurrency market. The best thing to do here is to have a target, and when you reach that target, you sell your coins. Just like you said when the price goes up, you can sell your coins once you have made enough profit and not leave it there for long because leaving it there for a long time means that you will be at risk of losing it. When you try to get everything, you end up not getting anything at all. The price of bitcoin moved from below $10,000 to $40,000 and some of my friends sold a percentage of their coins. You can be taking a percentage when it reaches a new milestone.

Knowing a perfect time to sell is hard for any trader. Everyone wants to make most amount of profit and don't want to exit just to find price jumps 10x from their exit.

1 - Use Technical indicators - They were created so people would not get entangled in emotions when doing a trade. When you are overwhelmed by your emotions you are going to make decisions that might not be beneficial to you. There are many TI available, choose the one that fits you trading style.

2 - Don't get too greedy with your investment - Greed is hard to manage trait for investors. You can manage it only by constantly working with yourself and knowing when you are getting too greedy. There are tools available like the one I mentioned above but you'll have to do all the work yourself.

3 - Always set a target before you enter any trade - Choose a reasonable exit before you make any trade. Stick to it! If market goes higher than your exit point, don't worry about it. This is where TI comes in play that'll help you get most amount of profit.

People think trading is profitable, that's a wrong perception, trading is like gambling, when one wins the other loses. It's very simple to understand,  and it's necessary since it's a basic knowledge everyone should know before they start trading so they'll always make a realistic action.

the words "speculative market", means it's a prediction game, you win, you lose, that's the game.

Well, it is a bit different than gambling. In trading you may or may not make a profit and it is "gambling" in the words sense, you risk something and you may win or lose. However the real gambling has house edge, which means you will always and always lose in the long term, there is no scenario where you will end up winning in gambling as long as there is house edge, this doesn't mean you will lose each time, obviously there are times when you win, but in the long run house edge will cause you to lose all of your money for sure without a doubt.

This is why I think it is quite obvious gambling and trading are different things, I personally believe that there is a good chance we could end up with profits in the trading world, it is not going to be that simple but it is definitely out there and possible. So that is the difference between those two things, not similar at all.

You need to set your target according to how you understand the movements,
buying low and selling high is very common to hear or to read when in terms of trading investment,

But how good you are in making the right decision or taking the right position placing your buying  and your selling orders.

It's more on your instinct and knowledge when deciding for your investment, the more you understand things inside the better you analyze your position.

when to sell?, yes I know it, make sure you understand about support and resistance, and if you understand that,
it will be very easy to know where we should sell and buy, okay, here I will discuss a little,
that support is the time to buy if you have the money and time to sell if you have assets or when the market situation worsens,
for resistance is the same as that, only resistance is above, while support is below on the price.
- Yes, the techniques invented by our forebears can help us see the bright spots for selling, based on the chart and the available prices, we just need to master the information and combine with the knowledge, a price to sell will be formed in our brain. This is a method based on expertise in that knowledge is relatively abundant and restrains emotional attachment, one method that also frequently appears is an emotional equation, they look for the right deal and price in emotion, this is also a way to know when to sell but is relatively unreliable

For the strategy used, it is better to have a main strategy and a backup strategy when the price cannot reach the main target. This is very important in order to be able to profit even when the market is not good.
Short term, mid term and long term have different time spans.
some people prefer to do short term but some of them also do long term.
I do both to get daily profits using a short term strategy or daily trading, while for some potential coins I use a long term strategy with a price target that I have determined by analysis.

@Maslate, I agree with you about the market to be pure speculation and despite the market volatile in nature, there are still some market season where we know when to sell and I am talking about ATH market season.
@Ziskinberg, trading is profitable but its not for everybody especially those that cant deal with their emotion or lack adequate crypto knowledge and factors that will impact the price of the market.

I think the instinct would probably be the answer to your question because you really don't know if bitcoin is ever going to go up much more so you sell at a point. Also, another reason would probably be the need, if you really need the money and you have no other way to make money, then you have to sell it.

I will not call it because of greed. For example, if you manage to hold your dogecoins till now then probably you might be at least 20x richer than what you had been some four years back. So, continuing crypto holding may not be classified as greedy action in my opinion. But definitely you must have some strategy on where to book profits and it can be your personal requirement or you may go for % based calculations.

Traders might be having technical support on where to sell but for long-term holders it will be definitely a very big dilemma on making decision on when to exit. For these purposes, I'm always suggesting to go for looking for personal things and make decisions according to that.

^ I rather choose the keep buying than selling.
Kowing the fact that when you sell is a very simple way, from the start of your investment in BTC, you should write it down in what price in the market you have purchased your BTC and then, just aim an amount that you want to sell your BTC, in that strategy, it is impossible you did not know when is the perfect time of selling. I also suggest, don't be too much greedy in making a profit in crypto, because sometimes it will cause your losses.

That only if you have a lot of money. But how about those poor people (third world country)? How about those you are just in short-term holding? This is not all about buying and holding, selling is a part of trading, and this why the market just moves up and down. And besides, we have the volatility feature because of this, some are selling and buying. Yet, both of them can be applied depending on our decision, and to ask when is the perfect time to do it(buy/sell), that gonna be a big question. It is just us to decide.

Basically, of course, we have to look at the trending market prices from time to time and have broad insight that can dig up information or things that can affect price movements on certain coins, until we can determine the time period to start it.
buy low sell high it's just a basic of what we're trying to, determining which coin to choose is also important in terms of its price movement.

Need and requirements are the most important things that force a trader to sell his coin.
If there is no pressure and no urgent money required, then IMO holding for longer period is more beneficial.
Also if you can control over your greed, then no one really can stop you from profits.
If you ask for the right time to sell, then it depends on which coin you are holding.
If you think you have got sufficient profit from the current coin, then just sell it.
If you show greed and wait for long, then ultimately you will face losses.

If you are holding an altcoin you need to always get the latest update about that altcoin, the news, plans, developement, marketing etc., and you also need to set a limit on when to sell with profit. It is normal to sell when you already have a profit based on the limit that you set. Dont be greedy if there is already a profit then grab it.

You actually answered your own question: it depends upon the individual.

Generally, there are certain indicators in the market that will tell you when is the time to acquire/sell your coins. Same in stocks, you must be updated both in the intrinsic and extrinsic factors that will help you arrive at a decision. In addition, you must also determine what price you should stop HODLing your coins in order to prevent further loss.

There is no absolute solution and indicator for this. Everything will depend upon your own decision and goal from the very beginning.

You should be easy to sell when pumping rather than the time when the price is already down. Am I right ? I think that's the right decision to do. I just follow my TA when I'm about to sell my altcoins then it doesn't matter for me if the price goes up. I just wait another dump market then buy again. We should also be updated in the news that could affect the market price.

That's the most appropriate, when the profit has become your satisfaction, it means that you have had enough with the specified percentage then it is better to sell it because for me altcoins the most appropriate moment to take profits is when the pumping occurs and when the market has become bearish as it is today it will be difficult to recovering even if you still have some altcoins it will be very difficult to recover the price and it will take a long time even years.
In altcoins, there is a lot of dumping into the market when the market shows signs of declining, so that opportunity will not return anytime soon, even I regret that altcoins survive at the price of greed.

For me, if I think I already gain profit, then it's time to sell my coins. Even if it goes up even more, more than the price I put in, the important thing is I earn. Don’t be greedy because it won’t help you earn instead it will lead you to a lot of losses.

It's really hard to find the best time to sell. Because no one can say for sure how much the market price will go up and down again. Everyone uses their skills and knowledge in market analysis to sell the accumulated assets to them. In this case, those whose experience and skills are more effective can earn more profit. On the other hand, everyone has a demand and while meeting that demand they refrain from taking an extra risk and sell their assets. I also sell one of my altcoins based on the market situation.

The main hint for crypto trading is that " Never sell in loss", if you know that you altcoin is going high , then wait for some profit and sell it, but if it goes down, dont ever sell it in loss, wait for 1 day, month or even a year to recover the price of the altcoin, then sell. ::)
Had this kind of motto in life or simply into my investment in regards to my coins that ive been holding for a while. As long you dont sell anything then you wont lose nothing and never ever sell in loss and wait up for some time no matter how long it would be because patience do really pays off and of course it would be needing some sort of luck too because not all the coins youve been holding would really be increasing its price in the future so it would be a random shot. Knowing when to sell will eventually be some sort of gut feeling on telling you to do so but sometimes our emotions is the one of the factors that could greatly affect the outcome.

There is no right way to know when to sell. Everyone has a strategy. Some strategies are better than others. I would advise you to research some good traders/investors and study their strategies and then create your own strategy which suits your unique circumstances.

Look at the price of XRP, the 2021 ATH was far away from the ATH in 2017, so if someone would stick to this strategy, they would be down (heavily) for 4 years without knowing if XRP will ever reach the ATH again.

As an investor, you only keep this up if you absolutely don't need the money and have already written it off. Otherwise certainly not!

If you plan on selling on the next crash ,you are highly likely to be in losses because these happen without warning.
Use targets or percentages when you intend to sell to take profits, just don't be selfish, take what's yours and wait for the next crash to buy or the next bull run to sell its the simplest strategy that can work for all.

more reason people find it difficult to sell when in profit is because of blind trading. a good trade should have a take profit and stop loss. finding it difficult to sell means you didnt have a take profit position or you wanted more profits. traders always want to take as much profit as they can when in a trade that is going their way, but this dosent usually end well. set a take profit and be satisfied with it.

You probably do not know about "cut loss" to make sure your capital investment is not ruined and it also helps you to think what to do next. Yes, it's okay to wait for another month if the coin actually has potential to gain something in next month, but what would you do if it's not and you seen another promising coins on the market? That's what you have to decide!

This is actually hard to decide if you are already at loss. But if you feel that the coin's development is going nowhere and they are heading to the drain, better sell it even at a loss. Because if you will wait longer, you may end up holding worthless coins. So yeah, this is where the point you need to decide, sell at a loss or just wait up until there's no more market value? Most alts are going down because there's no more development going on, and you will see that when you closely follow the team.

There's no signal when to sell actually, if you needed money and you've seen that you're asset had grown progressively I guess that the best time to dump. Don't wait until everything will be gone to dust, because here in crypto we need to act quick before it's too late. The best time to sell is determined by a number of factors.

1- Use-cases: If you purchase any altcoin you must note what are the real use cases it provides and what are the alternatives that provide the same. If there are better projects in the market that provide the same solution then it is time to sell.

2- Meme coins: You must almost never hold meme coins, sometimes I have noticed that trading them could be useful and profitable but sell them as soon as possible.

3- Peak Price: If you feel that the coin has almost certainly reached the maximum value you expected from it then there is no harm in selling it because remember if it starts dropping you will be in a dilemma of whether to hold or sell it.

The main hint for crypto trading is that " Never sell in loss", if you know that you altcoin is going high , then wait for some profit and sell it, but if it goes down, dont ever sell it in loss, wait for 1 day, month or even a year to recover the price of the altcoin, then sell. ::)
Sometimes waiting too much might end up as a disaster because most of the altcoins are short-lived and you cannot hold them for years. I have been in the shoes of a nervous trader who doesn't realize that it is not the bear run but the project is dead and we already missed the best selling point and the more we delay selling the coins, lesser the worth will be.

I agree that as a trader we must try and end every trade in profit but realizing that there is value in holding only then we must hold. If you are being emotional about a particular coin because you had high hopes, you should never hold such coins unless there is some progress being made from the developer team behind the scenes.

The term HOLD is not for all coins, definitely, not for shitcoins. We can do this for potential coins but could be hard for the altcoins especially for new projects.

Honestly, I was a victim of this thing, I hold for how many years waiting for nothing. It is to find ridiculous to say just hold even we obviously seeing that we can never see it back in hypes again.

As a trader, we surely know what way we can make good money in trading. But on the other side, we can't expect also that it resulted in great and profit as surely we can't avoid losses.

The time now became so bad for alts that I have sold many of my alts at break even. I had bought many alts with BTC and even though the price of alts has increased in USDT, they have performed poorly with respect to BTC. I sold many of my coins at break-even just to regain my positions in BTC. So you never know when to sell. There are some coins which I sold at 25% profit and I would say that's a comfortable price.

Each and everyone of us has our goals being set to standardized or manage our crypto tokens once they have achieve such point to decide whether we will going to sell it or just hold it for a little longer. Actually knowing when to sell will be tough if you are aiming too high on which in most cases people get into greed wanting more that turns out not being able to sell at all due to reason that they expect more and the market turns dump that lets them miss the opportunity already. It can also be possible to see when to sell by doing technical analysis or even observation on the market but this will also vary on the user into which point he wanted to sell or still hold.

That's what exactly, you will never know when to sell but at least you have an aimed profit for it and 25%-30% is fair enough to get a profit when the market becomes a bull trend. I guess don't be a fool if you will sell your bitcoin at a lower price, you should have a wait when is the perfect time of selling since we all know the market was in sudden price go down or sometimes it will go up.

In my own, when you see profit in your portfolio, don't hesitate to sell if you really need it financially because for me, when I needed the most money I sometimes manage my portfolio selling a small portion on it.

It happens with me so many times but that's not because of greed or started to think what I'll do with my profits, but the potential of that coin and the hype associated with it. Sometimes, when markets turn bearish all at once, then all the coins including my 10x potential coin starts plunging and if I am not watching, then I will lose so much. It is always a good thing to have a stop loss trailing near my ongoing profit area, so if it goes down, I don't need to sell as it'll be auto sold and save me from losses.

A price target is necessary when trading to be able to hit the desired profit then do the math to all of it including the transaction fees and there you have it. But if you are tired of waiting to trade in the market you can use some bots but that would comes with a price of course.

Different kinds of trading always have a risk but you are the one who's making the decision to minimize the risk of losing. You should plan accordingly and never hesitate about your plans since it will help you along the way to earn a decent amount of money.

The best time to buy Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies is still a big secret for new traders or investors, and according to research conducted by investment or trading experts and the best time to buy bitcoin never appears in official documentation because the crypto asset sector has price dynamics and fluctuations.
and the current general strategy is to buy dips slowly or collect coins that you think are potentially profitable when prices are low and resell when they hit your target.

fluctuations in cryptocurrency do make it difficult for us to predict the market,
we have to really monitor it and it's not easy I think,
It's true that you could say it's a common strategy that many traders and investors use

For you to sell it. depend if after your examination you find arrangement of lower lows on the visit you sell and sit tight for an adjustment of pattern prior to repurchasing thusly you make additional benefits outside the customary holding strategy.

Well many of us assigned how much percentage we will consider before selling , Like me i am targeting 100-150% profit when i am considering long term holding but when I'm into short term? at least 15-25% is more than enough for me to sell out and then look for another coin to buy back.
But of course this is not about my Bitcoin because for the highest ranking coin i only reserve a time and not a percentage meaning i will sell if i declare at least 6 months to 3 years of holding.

Traders must have knowledge about market and they must be good in understanding graphs. Once you learned to understand graph you will be able to know the right time for buying and selling of your coins. The right time to sell your coins is when coin reaches its all time high price and you can get this knowledge from graph.

I think the instinct would probably be the answer to your question because you really don't know if bitcoin is ever going to go up much more so you sell at a point. Also, another reason would probably be the need, if you really need the money and you have no other way to make money, then you have to sell it.

Do not go with the flow of the crowd because you'll just sell in FOMO.

selling for profit is something that someone cant really just make out easily so its really understandable on why there are people who do really have a hard

To know when to sell? I suggest keeping ourselves aware of the market and tried to communicate with our minds about this matter because the answer is only in our hands and minds.

People saying buy at low and sell at high. SO, it was clear to see that we need to the price of our coin to pump and reach our desired selling price before we hit the sell button. That is not so hard to determine when since I believe that we have our buying record and that will serve as the basis for the time when to sell.

It is easy to sell when you're in profit.

You don't have to calculate that much, as long as your coin shows that you've got more than the capital that you have traded on it, then that only indicates that you're in profit.

There's no need for any complicated stuff.

Does anyone have a good strategy for knowing when to sell?

For me.. We need we to understand chart very well to know when to sell. And i think the right time to sell is when the price of an asset move up rapidly and start flipping for long at for a little bit period of time

We need more time to decide before selling if we aren't sure what will be the outcome. In times of difficulties, look back from where you've started on your entry point, and if money isn't an issue for you to spend quickly always bare in mind that you need to wait patiently until that coin matures in price. Then in perfect time, your decision will be formulated and finally selling an asset would be the best thing you can do.

If that going to happen, I suggest just keep hold and sell when the market turns bullish. Because you are not able to decide quickly, your decision is so important especially during a hard situation and if that so happens you can dare to decide correctly, definitely, it is a need for you to ask your closest friend for some guidance. And I tell you that this will become your burden and it a must for you to learn about decision making. You just need to become strong and learn about TA as it helps you.

Generally a good time to sell is when you have seen a profit on the asset you bought. This mean buying low and selling high. But if you set a sale target with a higher price then of course you have to wait until the price reaches the target you expect. There is a possibility that the target will be reached if the bullish occur, but the correction risk is also certain.

To expect bigger profit then I believe you have to be a patient holder who will probably never be affected by FUD or price fluctuation. Even this method can take years, but I'm sure the risk and profit will be worth it.

Yes of course that's good advice and in such cases it's better to study more deeply,
the fact is that there are still many things that go wrong in terms of making decisions, it is not as easy as we imagine,

As a holder, being patient is truly important. You'll get bigger gains if you're too patient and you have bought at the dip.

That's what happened to me when I've bought some coins during their lowest and held it and sold at the mid of this bull run. Didn't maximized the profit but at least I still got more than 100% profit from those.

It is really individual, general perception is to wait for everyone else to sell in order to buy more and vice versa for me. The market trends are based on HYPE, the continuation of the trends depends on few factors which shows the way to sell or hold more. The stop loss should be on the charts no matter how you are sure on the single trade, in volatile markets single red candle can melt the whole trading position.
The sell limit order should be placed over the resistance lines or below the support price line depending on the market movements, the technical analysis is crucial at this point, IMHO.

Really actually talks about personal perception and own jurisdiction and decisions to be made because we do have different takings on a particular situation we are bound into which basically means that some would be still deciding to hold up a little more and some would be decide to sell it as they had already
gained enough or simply call it a day.We do have different jurisdictions on things this is why decisions made would really vary on each person to person.
We do have different goals and calls and this is why people would have different takings on when to sell and when to hold.

I know its an individual thing, but if you are in an alt and it is pumping...when is the best time to sell?
Depends on the market situation and what type of your trading. For example, I am a daily trader. If the market is in the uptrend, I will sell my altcoins if the price can increase 50% - 80%. But if the market is in a downtrend like in the current days, I mostly take profits once the price can increase 20% - 30%. I won't set a too high target for taking profits because I know it is difficult. Well, it is my own strategy, other traders may be different.

Of course, as a day trader, you will have a strategy that may be different and some are the same, but actually the most important thing about that strategy is to find the profit that can be generated.
you are right in the current situation it may be difficult to achieve high profits, which is possible when the market is green and trading is very attractive. with a slight advantage as long as it is consistent it also ends up being the same.

yes, opportunities can disappear when we miss and do not watch every movement, and this is clearly the work of a day trader, who must diligently pay attention to the movements of the market at all times and should not be careless. but maybe there are those who have other strategies with the help of market movement projection software. everything can be done and it's just a matter of personal readiness of each.

Maybe when the profit is pretty high than you could've expected, I think that's probably a good time to sell. For me that's a pretty standard way to have a safe point when you are trading in bitcoin but you have to be really quick in making a decision because the market doesn't wait for you, it will continue to move no matter what.

Yes, I agree, you can sell it when the profit increase than you could've expected, I think it is probably the right to sell. As long as you can see that the market price is increasing then you can already sell it. Don't wait with other crypto coins increase because increasing the price is not temporary, downfall may always occur. You can sell it if you already achieve the prices you wanted but make sure to hold your coins during downfall so that you will not regret it to the future.

- Monitoring will make us sleepless and uncomfortable eating, accumulation will only exhaust traders regardless of the type of trader, moments are not fixed times and a trader with their experience they don't keep their eyes glued on constantly and look at the chart too many times a day, they are more refined and work with the exchange better by their indicators and targets. Stop Loss and Take Profit are two levels set up to solve the situation where traders become addicted to the market, giving them more time and less thinking.

Maybe when the profit is pretty high than you could've expected, I think that's probably a good time to sell.
For me that's a pretty standard way to have a safe point when you are trading in bitcoin but you have to be really quick in making a decision because the market doesn't wait for you, it will continue to move no matter what.

If there's an opportunity to sell your asset with high value better to act fast, inside this market every market movements brings good

chance to everyone who wanted to earned dcently, all you have to do is to set your keep doing your research and make sure to have that nerve to risk your money, make sure that you have that trust with each participations that you made,

timing is really important within this venue of investment.

I am not really technical when it comes to deciding when to sell. I myself have a fair share of bad days due to bad trade decisions. But as long as I will gain a good percentage of profit, I will then decide to sell, especially that time is really a valuable factor to consider since decision must be made quick.

In my opinion, it depends on the type of investor, for long-term investors, he already has a long enough commitment to sell his coin even though it has reached the peak of its momentum. There is a type that is short term, so this opportunity will determine why it should be sold. I'm a long term type who isn't too interested in the turmoil in the current market. Like a red day in the sky.

Yes, another trader may have a different strategy, just use the most appropriate one and fits with your trading style.
Sure, each trader has their own goal and it probably requires a certain strategy. What strategy that best for the goal, only the trader knows it.

we need to monitor market movements because otherwise we can lose the moment
For a daily trader like me, it is very important to monitor the market. Momentum is the key, once lose the moment to take profits, it can be a problem and probably hold the coins for a longer time. It is not a big problem if the market is still going to increase. But if the market continues to drop, it becomes a problem for me.

How do you know when to sell? It depends, if it is crashing and it breaks the resistance it is better to sell it already rather than go along with the crashing price and when you are in profit just don't be greedy a 5% profit is already a good profit but when you already reach that profit a good strategy was to move your stop loss from negative to where you could take profit so if the market crash you already have a secured profit.

technically we could identify the earlier signal for reversal. usually traders look on divergence in big time frame chart,  recent dump on bitcoin could viewed from this technical indicator. Usually price will make structure lower high and lower low, when we see this structure be ready for quit from market. If we see it in big time frame , maybe in medium term trend will reverse. This is my way to analize when i have to quit from market and liquid my position.

but we also have to be careful, because not every time the indicator will always be correct. Indeed, in that way, we can win many trades, but if the indicators do not go according to plan, then we must look at resistance as our benchmark to exit the market. Actually, it's just a matter of which system is comfortable for us to use

You, I and anyone else will never meet the maximum profit, no trader really manages to sell at the peak on pumped coins unless it's luck and accident.
TA is useless if emotions dominate your trading. So let the TA do the most of the work and decide. That will help you set profit targets.
Yes, right now, you can't get the maximum profit since market prices really decreasing or experiences downfall. You can decide when you're going to sell it when you do some research on it about it's prices and when you think the price is good for you to sell it. If cryptocurrency experiences downfall then just learn to wait, be patience and always believe in it. Do some research and always be updated to help you set your target profit.

If you are already makes an investment in bitcoin and altcoins why not invest in your knowledge too. One of the best ways to identify when is the right time to sell in the market is with the use of your knowledge.

There are different factors such as.
You can earn knowledge with the news about the coin you invested in.
You can earn knowledge regarding the market technical indicators and market trend lines by this you will keep aware yourself when is the reversal signal if bullish, or bearish market.

These are the main factors that you should consider before making any sell on where you should at least have some indicators on where you should need to see first before making any further step because you cant really make some sell without any basis.

It wouldnt be worth if you do sell out when its already declining.Always try to sell when the market is on its peak because to think that whatever comes up must comes down which is always been a primary thing on a market like this.

We do have different takings and decisions to be make this is why outcome will vary into each other.

Knowledge? I guess we have simple term for that for the trading environment: analysis. Yes, your selling decision should be analysis based. If you are making use of TA and FA for buying your coins then you must go for same TA and FA for selling as well. Because, you must buy when market enters into bullish trend (you may buy at the mid of bullish trend as well) and similarly you must sell at the beginning of bearish trend. So, making decisions for selling through TA and FA alone will help to avoid later regrets.

you cant really make some sell without any basis.
But, most traders do. They do exit at random levels after seeing some 5% or 10% of profits and they do not bother any indicators to tell them about the right to sell.

Signals, chart movement, the time frame chart, and market knowledge are important to execute a successful sale. Personally, I am still not that technical to identify the chart movement and analyze the signals accurately, I do make mistakes, and usually, my successful sale is based on market knowledge and other few factors. My teacher who taught me trading often helps me but the decision is completely mine along with the liability. I prefer and advise you not to take advice everytime or else you won't learn.

without a doubt that this is the biggest difficulty anyone has, when investing in a project we cannot know when to sell, we cannot know what price X is the exact price to sell to protect our capital, it has happened to me many times to sell and then the price keeps going up and I regret it, but there were times when I sold and the price went down a lot and I was happy not to have lost money. in case of day trading the story is completely different, there are trend reversal patterns you can use

Signals, chart movement, the time frame chart, and market knowledge are important to execute a successful sale.

it only serves if it is to day trade, in case of buying a currency that is having a pump, it is very difficult to know when there will be a dump

I'm a long-term hodler so I do exactly know what price I am going to sell, I did try doing short-term for a little while and my instincts tell me that if the profit percentage is a green, I pull it out immediately and list the price I got out in my spreadsheet and then wait for the prices to go down again and if it's lower than the last listed prices, I will buy it again. Simple system although not a perfect one.

There are individuals who choose to close their position when they have of benefit or maybe, mentally talking when they are content with the profits. We need to take a gander at the moving business sector costs now and again and have expansive understanding that can uncover data or things that can influence value developments on certain coins, until we can decide the time-frame to begin it.

It is important to have a system like yours, not an actual software but a process where you're going to list the profits that you've made and how much you've bought it.

That makes you organized with your trading strategy and some might just go with this strategy and give them an idea that it's going to help them to be organize as you are.

Multiple people will give multiple opinions.
But it’s only the you who needs to follow the right decision.
So basically what i do is set a certain limit when to sell.
Suppose I buy a coin for 1$ then i try to wait for 15% profit and sell it when it reaches the mark.
This is a safe play according to me. But yes you can gamble by increasing the profit percentage.
This is how you should do it OP.

First of all I do have targets before I start my investment. And I try to set targets with levels. First I start with what can easily be accomplished at the moment and then I move up high. And I also plan on how I’m going to execute the trade when I reach those targets.

So, what I am trying to say is that when I am trading any altcoin, I have a price in mind that I would like to sell at, and once I reach that level I look for the possibilities of that coin going up further, and I can decide to continue with the holding, sell part of it , or sell all. So, you have to be calculative, and also do your analysis, because that’s what is going to help you decide.

It's a subjective to be honest because if you remove analysis on the equation, knowing when to sell is purely instinctual and goal oriented meaning that some people just have this gut feel to sell their bitcoin and others have reached their target price and they sell no matter what.

Yes, only you can tell when you're going to sell it. But for me, if I will be the one who is asked this kind of question then I will say that I will sell it if I already reach what my target is. But, it is good also that you will sell it during the increase of market prices and when you already reach your goal in it. You will receive high profit if you have patience. During downfall, I guess might hold your coins for you not to regret it.

That's trailing stop loss. For example you buy something at 100 dollars, and you put the sell order at 110, if it reaches 90 then you sell as well. So if it reaches 105, you turn it into 95 to sell and 115 to sell range, if it goes to 110 then you turn it into 100 to 120 range instead. You do not change the lower side though, so let's say it reached 150, and you will sell at 140 and sell at 160 in that logic right?

If it goes to 140 you sell it, you do not drop your sell as well just like you increase your profit taking. This way the higher it goes the higher you wait but as soon as it starts to drop you start to sell it as well. It is trailing method and it works like charm in a very volatile market, it doesn't work at all in a boring market like the one we have right now for example, it barely moves these days and it is always stuck between same prices.

You are amazing. It is difficult for me to do it.

The Bitcoin course has experienced many ups and downs in the past, there will always be good chances of selling at a profit. How big the profit margin is is at your own discretion. The right time is therefore a matter of your own opinion. Alternatively, risk something with Altcoins and you will be able to make profits without much greed. Regular sales can lead to trading and that costs fees that can be saved.

So, you have to study the coin from different areas, which will give you the benefit.

Research should always be a part because taking any step without proper knowledge and basis is basically gambling and that kind of mindset wont work out on this crypto field

because you would most likely end up on loss.Sell on profits and this is the main target of all investors but making decision would really vary from time to time because we do have different decisions

on certain conditions and outcome of your trades will be affected by lots of factors but due to experience you would really able to handle it out but expect that losses is inevitable
what matter most here is that you do profit in the end of the day.

There are individuals who choose to close their position when they have part of benefit or maybe, mentally talking when they are content with the profits. The take benefit could be in bunches however independent of what technique you concoct, your underlying venture ought to consistently be gotten as the market particularly that if altcoins is entirely flighty.
I like your idea of taking profits long term and short term basis personally I am a short term trader my target is 15% profit once the price move in my direction I manually close my trade because of the likely reversal of the price especially now that the market had not been trending well in this bearish season I always consider the  volatility of cryptos although I usually deploy TA to determine where to take profit especially RSI indicator had been very helpful coupled with manually drawn support and resistance zones where the price may likely reverse.

Seriously I don't believe there is any specific time when you have to sell your coin I just believe before you enter market you must have a target, you should have a entering price and when to sell. But sometimes I believe whenever you think the price is high you can definitely sell and enter again whenever the price is low. In trading everybody is having target and sometimes you have to wait to attain your target before selling the coin depending on the way you are seeing the coin but sometimes you don't have to attain your target before selling if you notice the market is not that good.

First you need to draw support and resistance on the chart. You should have some knowledge of MA and EMA , fib. ext to know all about them.
Once you have this understanding, then you can short or sell the coin at the resistance. This way you will have more chances of selling at the right time. Most people sell early and then regret.

I think you need a smart strategy to enter and exit the market since crypto is so volatile and moves very fast up or down. To make money in crypto you need some experience plus knowledge of course. You have to lose money in order to make money later on. My own strategy for selling the market is not waiting to catch the ultimate top because it will never happen and if it happens , it's pure luck or a rare coinscidence, instead try to have a selling plan distributing your bags gradually and slowly up to the top. Good luck

not setting your target is a big No since the market is so volatile as in any moment the momentum will change a lot.

If you have good plans and you can stick  with it, your chance of gaining good compensations is really good. Make sure not to use too much emotions.

It is not easy to make a profit in the trading market, so you need to do better than others, and be better than others in some trading rules and strategies. I just summarized everyone's discussion in the last post. helpful.

1. "Fear the market and always keep a clear mind; the lesson of loss is more than profit; don't put most of the funds in the exchange" (find a trusted exchange) to ensure your transaction;

2. Greed is a big taboo, and stop loss is a common operation;

3. "A lot of investigation, analysis, and trading strategy should be made before trading, and then invest again";

4. "Ignorance, FOMO, greed and panic are the most important things to avoid in trading". Control your emotions;

5. Check, review and correct your own transactions;

6. Control your own trading risks and continuously enhance your learning awareness;

7. Follow the trend and operate self-discipline.

Unfortunately, the price won't always reach the target. Sometimes, after buying and setting a specific price as the target to sell, the price of the coin drops constantly. Some people can feel frustrated and decide to sell immediately. Because of this, I don't want to specify a certain time as the best time to sell. In my view, when we sell our coin, should be the right selling time. The right time or best time isn't only determined by the number of profits but how important it to sell the coin at that time.

You need to have some different target at which price you are going to sell your coin. Depends on how many percent of profit you are willing to get. Lets say you set your target at 25% 35% and 50% profit so you need to divide your asset into that 3 target. Once you reach the lowest target then you can change the higher target based on the latest market condition.

In case the price dropped constantly after you bought the coins, you can do CL if you see that the price if going to drop again and again so you can buy it again with lower price. I have to agree that the best time is not based on the profit, the best time to buy and and sell is the time when you know that it is the right time to do it based on your own researches and strategy.

Every trader has their own strategy, target, and limit for their trading activities. The most important thing is, spend your money wisely and do not use your main money for trading if you are not ready to lose it.

If you understand well the formation, it's  a good basis to avoid making mistake in deciding when to let go if the market is not moving according to how your percept it.

You must know your target having a good stop and loss will allow you to adjust and see how will you manage to gain compensations.

Be always active with the patterns and strategy that you are using, it's not easy but it guides you to anticipate the possible market next movements.

Personally, I trade for my own purposes.
First, I determine how much profit I want to get from each specific coin, then, when the goal is achieved, I sell some of the coins and see what happens to the market next.
I leave some of the coins intact in case my expectations exceed themselves.

We're all trading because we've got our own purposes and that is to make money.

We sell when there's a profit that we see and sometimes we have to sell so that we can cut our losses in the long term. There are times that our plans won't be met but as long as the profit is already there.

We're taking that profit as soon as possible so that the capital we have during the start will be recovered.

You are right and when it comes to decision making then this would be entirely be depending on someones own will and mindset because people are way too different on making that one.
We do have the main aim which is to make money but doing all sorts of things will really be different to each other so profitability does really differ depending on how you do all sorts of things.
One priority or aim is really on profits but due to some factors like fear, greed and way too impatient then this will really affect you badly which would result into
missed opportunities or selling way too late but as long we are on greens then that would really count.

it is good trade plan dude, consistant with our goal will give us huge profit it accumulate for long time. sometime we didnt care about small profits and only huge profits instantly, meanwhile earning huge profit must sacrifie lot of balance too. but if we could patient and accumulate our small profits consistently , someday it will be great. i am agree on how you trade and close transaction.

Those factors about having fear and greed.

These will lead the trader to go into panic whenever he sees the market unfavorable to the likes of him. And that trader is likely new to the market.

That's why it's common to have those traders experience the worse trades first before learning from it and can depict when is the right time to sell after learning.

nice thought. by accumulating profits on an ongoing basis it will generate large profits as well. sometimes this is a psychological challenge for traders. therefore we cannot underestimate scalpers who patiently collect a little profit on each transaction. they make transactions briefly and with short targets too

To be able to get big profits, it is possible to collect small profits, because in trading there are various ways to be able to generate large profits.
If we do have big capital, we can immediately generate large profits. The problem is that not everyone trades with large capital, even
the majority of people may be trading with small capital, because the risk of trading crypto is indeed very large. If our small capital can do scalping,
we can take small profits but sustainable. This means that if the profits we get from scalping are collected, this can make us generate large profits.
The problem is scalping requires experience and good analytical skills, so we can know when is the right time to buy or sell coins.

Knowing the time to buy and sell is the most important thing in trading. To understand the initial purpose of currency creation, analyze market conditions and use various indicators to analyze price trends.
The price of cryptocurrency fluctuates greatly, and there are great risks in crypto market transactions. Risk management strategies must be done to stop profits and stop losses in a timely manner. Don't sell it when the price falls because the price rises and falls affect the market sentiment.

When you have gotten huge profit, then you should not be more greedy. You should sell your coin without any doubt. Because, if you got a double or good profit, then you should sell your tokens and waiting for dumping the crypto-currencies and you buy again which you want.

First, you need to set your selling target, and if it has reached, its your first safe point and think again for your next step.
If it has been sold, don not regret when the price is going high from last you have sold it, and if it not sold yet, you need to be more patient while check your targets sold were too high or market turning back from your target because some big issue.
If you have strong fund to do trade, you must not worry you will be loose, price will always going up and down actually. And when you need references, so many market analysator out there, you can pick one or buy it for subscribe to guide your market analytics.

Following and seeking advice from senior traders is certainly nothing wrong,
but we should not just follow it without studying it ourselves because I think it will be bad in the future,
I only recommend it and it all comes back to their respective decisions

I noticed that more often than not, coins that grow unexpectedly by 70-150% are then spent on a correction of about half of the growth.
If you see that your coin has grown so much with a static bitcoin, then do not doubt that a rollback awaits it, which means this is a great chance to take profit.

Trading is always done with your own intellect when others follow the rules, nothing is learned and the wrong signals are given. It is easy to know the trading strategies if you go ahead by applying your own knowledge and skills so that you can know the right time to sell the big businessmen move forward based on their own experience.

As a trader, you need to know when to sell and how to set targets to gain profit. It depends on your strategy on how do you use it or how you do it. If you have made a decent profit, which means anything more than a doubling and tripling of your initial investment based on your latest price, then given the recent volatility many personal finance experts say it maybe a good time to sell an amount equal to your original investment up to 50% of your holdings.

Well, a good trading strategy is to set a stop loss and a target profit, which usually leads to success. We all know that greed leads to loss, and if you aren't delighted with your profit, your account will be burned. Setting a daily target and sticking to your strategy, as well as being able to manage your emotions, are the fundamentals of trading that you should learn and look for. Emotion is your worst enemy in trading because it causes you to stop thinking and simply press the sell or buy button, which is not in accordance with your strategy. Learn to manage them so you can manage your money.

If it's an altcoin and the indicators were off the chart I think the instinct will help you out but if it's like common altcoins that has a good trading volume I do think looking at indicators like RSI would be a good idea to know when the market would go down or high but I think the best option is as long as you have profit just be thankful to it even if you sell early.

For me, there is no good or bad time when to sell. Everything depends on situation. In case I'm really short of fiat or in desperate need of it, I will sell my crypto at any price. In all other cases, when you sell today, you must understand that tomorrow the price would be either better, or you would have better opportunities to achieve something. That is it.

Mostly I take profit when I got some 20-30% especially this days that market is very volatile you cant trade perfectly so even small profit is good even its goes parabolic atleast you have already take profit the worst is you keep holding for more profit and crashed hard the other day and you left at the top thats very unfortunate.

20-30% is a very good result if you are a trader. But if you are a trader, you should try to trade in every possible plus.
I prefer investing, trading is too emotionally expensive and risky, it is contraindicated for beginners.

If you need the amount you invested better to sell and reinvest when you have spare money. Otherwise, no need to wait forever for 10x ROI, the worst option is to sell when prices are down badly. Unless having an alternative option, using the indicators to detect top price and sell it is the best method, in my opinion. The limit orders are the best method to catch the highly volatile wicks of the candles on small timeframes, if you are lucky you can sell the ETH at the $5k in case of market goes crazy and liquidity dries up on the exchange.

I have many experience of gaining from the coins that I invest in but opted to wait further because im greedy to earn more. Thus I learned my lesson and aware now that its a must to have a plan and set price on when to sell.

Taking profit at times is not a bad thing, instead its an assurance that you already enjoy some of your profit while still waiting. If you already gain, then sell some of your coins, sometimes having contentment can lead you to the right decision to make.

for a coin is relative or depends on our thinking when to sell. but I personally think we can make a sale when a coin has increased and we can see the potential of the coin, if the coin seems feasible for the long term we can sell 50% and 50% can hold. but if the coin's potential is not good maybe we can sell and shift the profit to another coin with more potential

The exact way you are doing is indeed, we have to anticipate what we will do from what we have, because all analysis is needed which is also very important before doing what we are going to do, because it is possible to analyze the possibility of mistakes going on.

The action to see which coin we have has the potential or not is to follow the trend that the coin is doing, if it has the potential for the future I better agree to remain hold. but if in doubt will divide it in half and will point it to another potential coin so that if it happens We don't all experience losses because there are backups from other coins. Observation is certainly very important if we believe like you said that the coin is not good, it is indeed a good idea to sell immediately.

There is no clear answer to the code and never will be. In general, I am sure that when you analyze all the coins at once, you are scattered and miss a lot, in order to know with confidence when to sell, you need not to scatter all the coins and projects at once, you need to choose a couple of coins for yourself and constantly analyze them, without being distracted by other projects, after that experience and understanding will come when it is possible and necessary to sell them.

This is right but here also you have to pick it at the right time. And the right time is when it start dumping it's first wave. Because if you do late you may sell the token somewhere , when it can back to up from there. If you see it started to go up after selling your coin then you become panic and start to buy again the coin. But this time you have to buy with more price than you sell. Thus you also can lose.

In my opinion to find the correct time you must have to experienced and also the chart analysis.  or just hold and see watch the market.

True it may not be clear when to sell but this can be helped when one has a plan.

Sometimes you have to go with your guts but sometimes it works out even better to work out the plan and execute after. It gives you time to work out the numbers and prevents you from acting rash. And sometimes putting unrealistic targets may not help, always waiting for those numbers only they never get reached - it is also stressful.

I set a target goal and I usually decide to sell once I reach it. It's hard to decide sometimes but having a concrete plan is an advantage. It's.important that we'll know when to stop holding and when to continue. Setting a target goal and following it could keep us away from greediness or aiming for too much profit which could just lead to losses in the end.

Sometimes you have to go with your guts but sometimes it works out even better to work out the plan and execute after. It gives you time to work out the numbers and prevents you from acting rash. And sometimes putting unrealistic targets may not help, always waiting for those numbers only they never get reached - it is also stressful.

Stressful when too much expectations are on you, it's tough to say when the market will favor your target, especially with the high volatility that we are experiencing inside the market.

You need to know how to adjust because even you already set your goals there are instances that you need to change things out, the good thing is you don't need to rush, you have time to think and decide when you already convince if you need to let go much earlier or you can keep holding and try to wait for some time.

Decision making is the tough part of this business, but following your own understanding helps you not to pressure yourself but to accept whatever the outcome that may take place.

I agree that we must be disciplined with the target sell that we have set, if we have already reached the price according to our target, sell right away.
Never put it off, because we want to get a bigger profit, greed will only lead us to loss. If our target has not been achieved we must be able to be patient,
because trading does require patience.

It is satisfactory when we decide to sell and obtain the profit that we set out to do, but has it not happened to you that you have cut your profits? That is, in trading when we take profit sometimes we realize that the price continues to rise or move much more in favor, if we cut that profit, we would be cutting much more than we can earn, is it not better to extend the profits? That is, my technique is very subtle, if I see that I reached my profit, why not let it go? and just move the Stop Loss? until making the Stop Loss look like a take profit.

Knowing when to sell depends on your personal profit target. Before you buy a coin you should have a profit target in mind and once you make that profit it's adviceable you sell and wait for another dip before you buy again. The truth is no one controls the market you can only speculate and we all know it's not always accurate most times

nothing will work if it is still overwhelmed by the desire to keep getting more or because of greed. Never dream of a very large profit with a small capital. in trading we must be realistic in looking for profits so that it leads us to continue to trade over and over again by looking for modest profits in every trade. I think it's really worth it to avoid a big risk.

Much better doing thigs like that, setting up your target and allow profits being pocketed instead of waiting for unrealistic growth

and regret when the value of such asset start to fall back,

You have to make sure that you are willing to wait and not to be greedy, that's really the very bad attitude if you are aiming for
good benefits from this business.

It's wise to understand your goal and execute it with decent profits.

If the strategy that you are using has sell targets then you need to respect them, however in such kind of strategies you need to also have a way to get back into the market in the case you sold your coins too soon and the bull market is still ongoing, I say this because many people panic when despite getting profits they sell too soon and then they buy once again but they do it too late and they do it for the wrong reasons, most of time for the fear of missing out and that is when the profits that you got on your previous trade can evaporate as you are no longer taking decisions by using a strategy but by using your emotions.

Same in the case with me, most of the time that whenever i go some coins to sell then only the coins drop and when i sell then the coins gains its position, i don't know why this happen but many times this thing happen. Probably trading should be done through following some of the basic trading strategies, only we can get profit.

The burden of knowing when to sell or get out of a coin that's been pumping is usually a very big problem for traders. But when to sell is when retail investors that is small Traders are chipping in to get a taste of the pump then you should know that the coin is near the top so be preparing to cash in on your profit

Actually when you want to sell depends on the altcoin, for potential altcoins such as ETH and BNB, I think there is no need to rush because this project does have good liquidity. And for example for other altcoins that have not developed well in the market, I think this depends on the strategy and determination of profit targets, because we cannot hold these altcoins. If the profit target has been achieved I personally immediately decided to sell it.

There is no specific time for selling. But if the price gives you benefit, then you should sell that coin. Some individuals set a value, if the coin reach to that value then you should sell that coin. But if the price fall down then you should hold that coin and wait until the price become higher again.

indeed we can not escape from greed, if there is an opportunity to be able to enjoy the opportunities that exist. normal things are sometimes done, because of lust and not analyzed properly.
of course to remember too, that not all alt when pumping to increase we do not take any action. because usually what happens the opportunity will be lost. because only the best-ranked alts we can trust, other than that it doesn't guarantee that if we let go of the opportunity, it will disappear and not be on the exchange anymore. always analyze if the opportunity occurs in alt, because many alts are inconsistent.

Actually when you want to sell depends on the altcoin, for potential altcoins such as ETH and BNB, I think there is no need to rush because this project does have good liquidity. I agree and believe in what you are saying, because many alts of course potential alts are something we can analyze. There is no need to be complacent when it increases, because it is possible to increase again, there are opportunities. indeed must always analyze well the movements that occur with also not be separated to see the movement of bitcoin.

it's true that if the target is in accordance with what we want, it is appropriate not to be greedy and keep waiting for it to increase again, because it could happen that the opportunity will be lost and it takes more time to wait for it to increase.

I think that this is the most difficult task to judge for selling and buying. But it is not so difficult for those who know the technical analysis. Because professional traders buy coins from strong support level and sell coins at strong resistance level. We can easily find support and resistance levels from chart. And don't sell your coins in panic condition otherwise you will lose your funds. So, hold it tightly and wait for the best time for selling.
