Recently everyone is very anxious, the market from time to time falls, sometimes with the negative news waterfall, sometimes without the negative news waterfall, as for the positive news almost no, it really makes people hate the teeth itch. Whether it's profit withdrawal or principal loss, watching your money slowly being eaten up by the market is generally an individual's anxiety. The more we get to this point in time, the more I think it's important for us to ask, or for us to ask ourselves, what are you holding bitcoin or Ethereum or any other digital currency for?

The question goes sideways mate, "Why On Earth do we need not to Own Bitcoin"?

When you are trying to invest in for long term, you may not really think about the value in USD being eaten by the market. It will cross your mind every time the price dip which you could have decided to sell and buy later to increase the number of your satoshis. It's risky but traders do this. They do this to own more BTC because they think of the future value.

That's the most most sensible thing to do when you are investing, you should be going for the route that maximizes your profit more than anything else because what's the point of investing if you don't choose to make more money if there's a chance to do it right?

I mostly get paid in crypto for work, and it's a practical way to save money and make online payments.

I bought Bitcoin because Bitcoin enables individual humans to have private property that is truly under their control in this highly information-based, centralized, and regulated society, and this private property can also be stored and transferred very conveniently.

I don't believe any of the above. I bought btc because it was trending. It has kept trending and made me some very nice return, and this is -surprise surprise- why I still hold and buy btc. It's a zero anxiety long game.

Bitcoin is usually held by people for investment bitcoin's long term investment is very profitable. Traders invest in fluctuations because they know that even if the price goes up later it will go up again all the money in the world means money dollars or any currency has a regulatory body this work is usually done by the government but you would be surprised to know that bitcoin has no such company. Bitcoin is entirely public no one controls bitcoin continues to do its own thing that is why everyone owns through investment.

Isn't it somewhat odd that you are asking this question while hodling? This question matters, of course, but this is a very fundamental question which should have already been asked even before you made your first Bitcoin purchase.

I know that the reason for buying Bitcoin may not be the same reason for hodling it, but why did you buy Bitcoin or Ethereum or other digital currencies in the first place? The clue may be right there. If you bought Bitcoin because it is the emerging fad and it is cool to be in and not left out, then there's indeed no more reason for you to hold on to your Bitcoin now.

For me this cryptocurrency is the future of money. It is not only an investment but this is good technology which solve problems that we get when we using fiat. By using cryptocurrency we get a lot of advantages. In the past we use gold, now we use paper money, then the future should be digital money and the best digital money is bitcoin. I want to be a part of future.

Then you shouldn't have bought altcoins in first place. Altcoins will always keep going lower and lower as people dump them in the long run even though they may see some short term pumps.
As for bitcoin for the past 2+ months the price has been around $35k and hasn't been going anywhere else, so your comment doesn't apply to bitcoin.

I assume you have seen the market going up and down, and that's kinda normal to see in any market going like this especially to the highly volatile asset like Bitcoin and other alts. Have you seen Bitcoin falling it's value as time passes by?
 

Perhaps, you should ask yourself because we have different opinions about why we own bitcoin. But people who own bitcoin realize that bitcoin can be their long-term investment, so that they want to have more and more bitcoin. They will buy more bitcoin at any price, especially if the price can go down to the low price, and they will not only hold it but will sell it when the price increases.

Related to the negative news that we read, that will not always impact the price, but it just happens temporarily, so we don't have to worry. The price will be increased after that news, and the price will have more chances to break the highest price.

Looks like you're missing the point here, As you can see the world right now needs some kind of new opportunities where it needs fewer competitions. Bitcoin is one of them if you want to invest with your spare money, the return will be huge if you know what you are doing and the same for the other Altcoins. Most of the users here are looking for those opportunities whether they gonna waste their money or not, it's their own decision and that will make the crypto market grow since some might win or some might also lose but that's not always the case because sometimes whoever might lose right now, will gonna win tomorrow as well.

Cryptocurrencies are high-risk investment assets, Bitcoin price volatility is an example. I personally am very ready for the changes that will continue to occur in the price of Bitcoin, there is no reason for me to be afraid of its price volatility. today Bitcoin might be worth $1 but tomorrow it might be worth $1 million.

Not "everyone" is anxious.The crypto newbies are the anxious ones.

Bitcoin is still approximately 3 times higher than it was 12 months ago and approximately

Bitcoin's volatility is not something new...well maybe it can be new to newbies but for us who have with the coin for the past two years at least we are already accustomed to its rise and fall...and we certainly know how to deal with it emotionally. I am not actually anxious if Bitcoin is dipping I just smile and hope that soon it can be back up high. Bitcoin will not be that popular without its volatility. People will never be investing with Bitcoin if its price will be as flat as a stablecoin. And if one is willing to see Bitcoin go up and reach a new ATH, one has to endure its usual dips and that is what is happening right now. So there is no point to be actually anxious that is just a big waste of time and emotion.

Compared to holding coins that have no concept of long-term and solidity like BTC, they think that holding BTC coins seems more hopeful with many other coins and in the future profitable that BTC does not bring small for so it can be said that BTC is a currency that many people hope and trust to keep it.

At first I got interested in Bitcoin or cryptocurrency because I thought is was a new, and more or less simple way to earn, parallel by current job. Later I got more into being anonymous. I like a lot the idea of using a card, topped up with crypto (I use binance card) for everyday payment. I like that I got a cashback, and I like that my purchases are not monitored by government (at least I dont face consequences).

Just because I have a long-term vision. I don't care about short-term fluctuations in price. I care about what Bitcoin is and how important it will be in the world in the years to come.

One thing, bitcoin is one thing that is very special and helps finance everyone, because of course we can still earn it by working online. Basically, while it has proven to be really helpful, why not try it, because this is certainly a golden opportunity, although it fluctuates but its popularity is increasing day by day till now.

Even with all the so called waterfall you think has been happening to Bitcoin price, it is because you are looking at the shorter or immediate gains in Bitcoin. Purse and take a look at a wider time frame from when some invested in Bitcoin back in like 2000, do you think such those investors see the fall in Bitcoin price the same way you do? The same way 10 years from now if you still have Bitcoin from this investment, you would see it differently from those that will be investing for the first time then.
So I also believe that Bitcoin is better for more longer time investment.

not everyone but if there are anxious in here they are only new in this market .
there anxiousness will trigger if there are bad news because bad news triggers the fall of the price but if there are only good news they can only feel happy .
 if we hold a crypto for profit we should accept everything that can happen because not all times the market is in good condition but somtimes there are bad times .

Anyone Hodln digital currencies is futuristic. The dip or correct in BTC is not a new thing. It has happened and will still happen as long as BTC do exist. Your money that is sinking today can rise tomorrow. Everything in life is a risk, your money if not invested in BTC will still go one day. if you ask why any of us want to have bitcoin, the answer is simple, in my opinion the reason I want to have bitcoin for me to make an asset in the future, with us having bitcoin now, most likely in the future we can sell at a higher price This is a high risk, but if we are always afraid of risk, we will never succeed.

Some people see the potential in the market why they invest. Some people see on the stock market, fiat currency, real state and more but here see the potential of the cryptocurrency, from the year 2017 we saw the potential of the bitcoin to rise again this is the reason why people make an investment but throughout the years there are a lot of new coins developed right now which gives more chance to the people to get profit. We called them right now altcoins.

As for now until the market still not decided I keep my money to a stable coin if there's a new trend of the bitcoin and other coins I just keep waiting for the signals

Since you are a newbie this question is valid for you and I am sure this would be something that every beginner holding bitcoin might wonder.
This is because you have been losing money while the market is dumping but you must also know that if you are losing your money then there is someone on the other side who is making money. Also, if you are losing money then there is probably something you are doing wrong.

The first thing you should know is that you only lose money if you sell your assets in a loss. This means if you don't sell your coins while the price of bitcoin is dumping then you don't lose your money. You should HODL your coins patiently and only sell it when the price is pumping up and take the profits.
This is how the old timers and the long term holders make money while panic sellers lose money.

We all have sort of reasons why we have decided to get engage into Bitcoin and why we are wanting to own even a small part and make the ultimate goal to even have at least 1 Bitcoin in our life. I have the same future vision. There's new people born into this world everyday and they are the future blockchain investors because today they are too young right now to invest until they become adults.

Why are you generalizing? I'm not anxious at all. A year back my bitcoins were worth less than 10000 USD each and now they're 3 times that.
None of the old holders will care about short-term fluctuations because their coins are always worth more than they paid.

I own crypto for safety. Because I prefer to hold money in a digital wallet than in a bank and I like watching them grow in value. Next halving they're going to be worth more than 60 thousand usd and we're going to hopefully have this conversation again ;)

If we still have the coins on the spot exchange, it means that we still have the coins, we don't lose if we don't sell the coins. So, in my opinion, the best way to do it right now if we are still losing on the value is holding. Moreover, if the cut loss decision has been late to do. Holding is better than panicking and selling the coins at a lower price.

And so far, trading is very risky, the market is very very unstable moreover at the weekend. Today, the market is green and many increases are there. But, we don't know what will happen in the next few days. We must be ready for any kinds of probabilities in the crypto market. And I personally like to play with the top coins in order to minimize the risks.

Why would I not invest in bitcoin if I believe it would become profitable in the near future? I've been in crypto for about four years, and what happened last time is exactly what is happening now, so I'm not concerned about what is occurring since we've previously had the experience. Me too, I think that believing in the potential of bitcoin is the only reason why I still own bitcoin, for me the 10 years that bitcoin has been in this world is enough proof that it will stay here and that it's prices will only have one way but to go up.

Market is down = opportunity to buy. I see FUD or negative news on the internet = good time to buy. Most people are holding bitcoin or ethereum to make money. Crypto is a new way for us and gives us the chance to make money. If you plan to invest long-term speaking, you shouldn't worry much whenever reading or hearing news like that. Bitcoin is volatile. I don't know how many times I've said this in different posts. Anyone planning to invest or save in cryptocurrency platform should know that before diving into it. If you are easily shaken with these kind of news, maybe you still need to save more courage before entering crypto.

When it comes to investment, always be reminded that high risk, high rewards. Risking is always a part of every investment we will make may it be in crypto or other investment vehicle. others have said it well also, why invest?  Well to do nothing is to leave it in fiat so therefore we need to find something that goes up over time and is a store of value, gold, silver, real estate, mona list paintings, all have shortcomings we may not want to deal with.  Bitcoin is an option that addresses a lot of shortcomings of other store of value items.

For cryptocurrency market to fall does not mean that crypto holders are absolutely wrong by holding their bitcoin or any  other cryptocurrency, holding  a coin for intervals of years can  equally turn to positive gain, because i could remember vividly when bitcoin was at rate of ten (10k) in the year 2019 and 2020, those set of people who happened to purchased it at that point and refused to sell the coins till this period, i think they has made a huge amount of profit, this scenario just given an examples or the advantages of keeping bitcoin for a long period of time.so in summary nothing is wrong for holding a bitcoin from my perspective or sight.

I have bitcoin because I have hope in bitcoin with big profits, and my savings for my child in the future, when my child grows up the possibility of bitcoin is still growing and hopefully reaches 100k usd later

No one knows the future, but to me the possibility of btc hitting 100k or above remains by the end of the current year. Why hold bitcoin? Because despite the volatility it remains the best performing asset class since it was created. That and because of the understanding of what it is which creates conviction as to where it is going. And that conviction doesn't shake with temporary market moves. Bitcoin is a long-term play and it's in time-frame of years that it is and has been a sure bet.

this is not just a matter of money alone, but it is more inclined.to the investment center where the investment is very useful for a future. with a little saving in the form of investment then we can at least get a little profit in the future, what else this is an investment in the form of long term and easy to make transactions.for example we want to stop we can withdraw.our money back by selling it, and also we can still buy it to invest. long

The majority of people who own  bitcoin are in it for the profit and the investment, and no one actually will tell you that they own bitcoin because they hope for a better financial system that is decentralized and not controlled by governments, and to me that is a huge concern because if people just use it for profit and they buy and sell based on the price if bitcoin takes a hit and falls in price people will start selling and it will affect it in a bad way, i am not gonna lie that i am not also in it for the money, but i try to use bitcoin whenever i can as a payment method and not just have it sit around in my wallet.

I own in the hope that soon enough it will be implemented in the modern economy and I'll be able to use it. When that happens - it will become money for spending. I also try to hold when the price drops drastically, just to ensure I don't lose a lot of money because of price volatility. And some part I own just out of curiosity: how high will Bitcoin reach (I guess I'm never selling that part, though I know it's wrong :D).

We should avoid of panic to get good profit. All the time people fear about the loss and do panic selling.Mostly the new traders do this one. It's not a good strategy in the trading. Really holding will give you good profit. If you keep shit coin for 6 months, you get decent profit from it.

Modern economy is purely depending on bitcoin. The world population with of 60 percentage had the capacity of bitcoin. Most of them are investors, few of them are signature campaign working people. At the end the flow of bitcoin among the people was increasing every year.

The blockchain is stored on millions of hard drives and new notes are constantly being activated to make it more and more secure. Climate-friendly power sources and sustainable solutions. Bitcoin would protect people from overbearing authoritarian governments and banks or financial service providers would have to adapt to the people.

Why on earth do you not have any bitcoin up until now? Bitcoin was comprehended as the future and it will help you in lots of ways. As long as you do a little research on historical prices and trending rise/fall and don't buy it at peak prices, it is a more or less safe long-term investment.

As most of the time market is falling and falling, from the previous one year it is not stable, as this is all due to the bitcoin, most of the coins are falling and lose their position due to bitcoin. So, bitcoin plays an important role their and can be beneficial for the investors.

This question has been asked for such a long long time that we need to back out a bit and think what really matters, the reason why you have Bitcoin. All of us wants financial freedom and the only way somebody without a working knowledge of the stock market and other big investments is to do cryptocurrency and also Bitcoin. On this earth there are millions of things which should not have been invented in the first place but they are used, adopted, recycled all the time just because it was needed at some point by some one. So yeah same use case with the bitcoin too where we are going to use it from profit making to cold storage. Whether it is current simple use case or something unimaginable in the future (like WW adoption ) bitcoin exits with technical purpose too. For me that’s enlightening and that’s why I own it.

Bitcoin has no definite value but everyone believes that its value will be great in the future. Bitcoin is the future indeed. No one would ever want to own bitcoin just for fun but the fact that it wil be of huge value in the future makes everyone crave for it.

For me, i personally want to own bitcoin because it will be a good retirement when i get old. Although negative news and fuds are definitely inevitable but we know bitcoin is not a big hype but a profitable asset and investment that is very promising to give us huge profits in the years to come.

I'm holding for Diversification! Bitcoin is sound money and my country uses fiat money. Sound money will rise in value, Fiat money will fall. If I hold 100% in Fiat even my regional "money printer company" (Central bank) starts laughing at me. So why should I not hold Bitcoin? 100% Fiat is plainly stupid.

     There are many reasons as to why a person holds such coins in this industry. While they may vary depending of personality, social status or culture, we can certainly not judge a person regardless of their reasons. Anyway, the reasons that I can think of as to why people continue to buy and hold are:

1. The rich quick mindset of the people believing in fairytales and miracles without doing the substantial efforts to familiarize themselves first with this industry.
2. Getting influenced by big influencers online or by peers.
3. Boredom with the traditional ways of keeping assets or earning money.
4. The love for new things or the love for innovative technologies.
5. To fit in.
6. Unemployment/underemployment or lack of jobs for certain skillsets and professions.

      While there can be many more that can be added to the list, those are the most common reasons that I can think of. Now as for my reasons, number 4 and number 6. Number four since it really fits my personality well and number six because I am trapped in this pandemic having no jobs available for my degree/profession.

We can say some positive bitcoin impact first the price at the beginnig was really low and getting btc was a really easy task you could say that it was a free risk investment were with only 10$ you could be a rich man and it was the perfect oppurtunity to win free money plus there have been other occasions to earn from it and its biggest advantage so far is that its always reaching new ATH and it means that you never lose your investment money if you hold it.

Im holding bitcoin and some altcoins for 2 reasons.

Because I like the fact of storing my assets securely plus making a fast transactions with cheap fees, anywhere and everywhere as long as there's an internet connection.

Because I believe its a good investment. The volatility attracts me that it can give us a huge profit just by holding, though it might take a long period.

Well, that's not that many reason in my opinion, having only one reason is pretty weak in my opinion because that means that you don't see the whole picture if you don't have enough reasons to believe in something.

The first time I bought bitcoin was in 2019, because my father asked me to help him invest. I asked a friend who owns bitcoin what investment can double the income within one year, and he recommended me to buy bitcoin When the currency is worth 7000 US dollars.

earning bitcoin somehow and selling it is different, i think OP meant to ask why do you hold on to bitcoin, and for me i don't do that anymore since i can buy things on the internet with other crypto that has less fee, and if i wanted to keep some crypto, i keep USDT, the only time you can consider buying  and holding on bitcoin or eth is when there is a big decrease in their prices, so that the chance for them to at least get back to ATH is really high.
