I am new to bitcoin and come from a third world country. One of my friend told me a company came telling all to invest 150 USD in an scheme and then they can earn daily about 6-7 USD regularly by watching ads for the rest of their life. My friend earned 6-7 USD everyday by watching an ad of 8 minutes. He got paid instantly and also told me about the Binance mobile app. This worked for almost 1.5 months. Then the company disappeared. Those who invested lately couldnt get their money. I want to know how this process works. How is this related to bitcoin and how can one earn just by watching ads ?

What kind of question is that? Those people's weapon isn't the type of money, but their victims' foolishness and their deceitful techniques (which are usually pathetic). Any late investor in this company could have been scammed with or without cryptocurrencies' existence.

Those companies aren't really companies as they're ran by individuals with no licenses and there's no legitimate activity. Their scheme is pyramidal, which means they fool their newcomers believe that there's some sort of honest business behind the company while their only source of income is the newcomers'.

What you have narrated here has nothing to do with bitcoin. It is a typical ponzi scam under the disguise of "paid to click" business. Do not ever fall for such websites going forward. Making money online is not easy so if you see such easy tasks which will fetch you some unrealistic amount of returns, stay out of those.

Bitcoin is a currency system just like USD. But it is just not controlled by any central authority. If you want to know about bitcoin, go google it and millions of resources will be with you in less than a second.

I think it's enough to tell your friends that it's enough to visit an exchange, buy Bitcoins as they please and store them in a hard wallet. It has nothing to do with bitcoin, that's the first thing that you need to understand. That's why the are called scammers because they take advantage of anyone in crpytosphere. You just have to think logically, no one can passively earn that amount of money just by watching ads. If you really wanted to earn here, you need to work your ass off, just like regular jobs in the offline word. I do hope that this is a big lessons for you and your friend, not to blindly trust anyone with your precious crypto.

sadly to say, these scammers just used the name of bitcoin to attract naive users. they are not in any way earning btc thru watching ads. they just look for certain activity that will give seemingly "valid" source of income. return of 4.6% daily from your investments seemed really a ponzi scheme to me. so they are just using the deposit of newcomers to pay the older users. not a new scheme but still people are jumping on this kind of too-good-to-be-true roi. and once they collected enough money for their pockets, they are gone. i dont know how many users will still fall on this very old tactic before they really need to  learn their lessons in a hard way

They used that 6$-7$ USD to lure people since like what you said if your friends tells you that he is earning that amount by just watching ads and then deposit some amount on their platform then for sure you will have an interest to try it to. Talk by mouth is like wide fire and its easy to spread especially if there's a money involve also if you ask how those scammers earn then they are earning thru the deposit of their new investors since once they convince more people to put their money in their platform and also once they reach there threshold like achieving millions of dollars in investment then they will do a grand exit scam and left their investors crying.

Its just simply a cover up but totally that website is really just a ponzi. If there would be no one will be making out some deposits then it would just simply breakdown and the site would go down and ran all of those money

They aren't earning "through bitcoin". They are earning by "scamming people". You are making it sound like bitcoin is used for scamming people. Like one of the user mentioned, it has nothing to do with bitcoin. Your "friend" probably joined a ponzie scheme where he was getting paid a lot for watching random advertisements. As long as people are investing in that "scam company", everyone will get paid. Once people start trusting them and more people starts investing, they will disappear with those money. There is simple logic with how you earn in real life and there's not that much difference in earning bitcoin. If that's what they offer that you'll earn while you're sitting pretty then everyone will have that dream job and investment. But sadly, if it's too good to be true, that's a scam.

I thought this kind of scam didn't exist these days because people know what is Ponzi scheme is.  It basically lures naive people with a small percentage they supposedly got per day after staking their Bitcoin and after how many days, they paid you for how many days and later on, they will shut down and you can never hear them again.

Back then year 2017 this kind of scheme was very popular, in fact, I'm one of the victims when I was investing my Bitcoin in a mining company, they promised to get my whole capital after 30 days, and per day, I got my profit.  But after a week, they lost and never come back, it's regrettable.

It's really simple OP, the scam company creates an internal wallet of sorts that reflects purely numbers, making players mistake it for "profit". In your friend's scenario, he's mistakenly thought of the balance he has on the app as "profit" already, when in fact, it's just numbers generated by the app or whatever he uses, meaning it's fake, it has no real value, simple as that. Now, it's not only Bitcoin that scammers use, it's everything. Bitcoin is simply a medium, just like every other medium there, they are in no way at fault for being used in scams. If you were to continue in that direction I'd really have to question your intelligence about it ngl. That's at most, the only connection scamming has to Bitcoin (or anything else really).

They promise people huge amounts of money and then making them excited about this and at the same time instigate them into investing into their company and then this gullible person will comply and give them the amount that they're asking for and that's how they make some money, some of them will pay for awhile and when you decide that you want to increase what you're making, that's when they pull the rug on you.

No one would pay you with that amount just by seeing an ad. If you want to earn bitcoin, work hard for it. The company is not really existing and its only run by certain scammers who's job is to encourage people to invest and when they start investing, the said company will offer them huge returns from their money being invested. Maybe in the first months, investors will definitely receive a good amount but after several months when the fake company has already received lots of money from investors, then they totally disappear in just a sudden. This is not new to everyone especially when you're in a business field.  Different types of scamming like ponzi scheme will definitely arise just to make advantage of those people's money out from their ignorance.

Through mass promotion from advertising agencies and false promise and big smiles, look at Bitconnect and One Coin, they were able to make something that's altogether fishy into something that's totally legitimate. Charisma is the biggest factor in this one too as you can't be quivering when you're asked of really pressing questions.

Sounds like an exit scam. I can't quite connect what you're saying in the first part though. Investing in a platform but then watching ads to earn? I am aware of these microtasks that allows people to earn by watching certain stuffs, mostly they earn points from it and redeem through Paypal.
I am not entirely sure what's the connection of it with Binance, unless that "company" that your friend mentions pays in token and was exchangeable in Binance.

The said project isn't related to Bitcoin but they're just using Bitcoin to scam and fool people. That's the risk of putting and entrusting our funds on people because of the hype and fud. That's why we're always advised to do research first before investing so we'll never be a victim of scammers.

In this case bitcoin was just the currency used by the scammers to run their operation, but it could be also your local currency. You can earn by watching video is different platforms, for an example I can mention Permission.io (https://permission.io/), but as far as I know it's not possible to earn a decent amount of money with this kind of site. You will just receive pennies for every video/ads you view. The fact is that people promoting such sites earn with referrals instead of earning through viewing ads themselves.

Micro jobs sites like Rapidworkers (https://rapidworkers.com/) and Picoworkers (https://picoworkers.com/) also pay for watching videos. The payrates are low anyway for the time you have to spend on it to complete the tasks honestly.

The scammer uses many payment gateways to scam people. So besides that payment gateway scammers using Bitcoin as a payment gateway that doesn't have any relation with Bitcoin. OP mentioned a kind of traditional scam method which was called revenue-share. But nowadays I can't see any traditional revenue-share sites. I don't know if they exist or I am missing them. Newbies are actually they are targeting and those that lack knowledge of determining what a scam is. With a lot of people, it's sad that there will really be those victims that will show up after being scammed by these typical scam and Ponzi websites. Scammers would really make it look legit to lure in or hook people to make more money and on the time that it isnt really already sustainable then its the time that they would ran away.

I've seen numerous android apps and websites that is almost the same as the one you are saying OP. They will let you invest, then just by watching ads you will earn money. You already saw what happened to that company and those companies who are doing the same will end up the same as well. I just hope that you didn't invested your money into the company that you are saying though.

Its a classic way of scamming people, watching ads are just a front but their real goal is to scam people from the beginning.

They just use bitcoin as a tool instead of fiat to transact faster, less hassle on their part. In reality there's no such thing of earning a specific amount by just watching ads, most likely the payout they use to pay early investors are from the new investors who dont have idea of what they're getting into, its like a pyramid scheme.

As a word of advice, people from the third world are a big target for scams luring them with greed. So these "friends" you talk about, be careful of what you deal with them.

So the site was a GPTC site, a get-paid-to-click site. They pay you for clicking on their ads and such micro-transactions are very commonly integrated nowawdays in mobile games - for example, a certain game might give your extra "gems" for watching a short video. Or like Spotify shows you ads before running the next track.

Point is that these sites earn a lot of the commission and the fact that they took a deposit to get started should be the red flag.

Suppose the deposit was x amount and the daily earning for any user on the site is y.

Now running the site for n number of days means that the profit incurred would be (x-ny) per user. Usually the x value is fixed while the y value usually remains an average.

Therefore the ones who join late would have an n value of lower than those who joined early. Hence the site will actually be profiting off the late joiners once the site decides to do scam.

This is just a clearer way of its picture on how scamming works. The company serves only a front but in reality, the company is not existing. Its just a group of individuals who's job are scamming and if you believe in them, you will be their victim, definitely their source of income. Just imagine how would you earn an income when its just a simple ad that you should watch and then you immediately get paid? I hate saying this but those who got scam from this kind of strategy are most likely lazy people. They just need easy money without working hard. You see, when something seems too good to be true, it probably is. There's no easy money nowadays. So, if someone offers you such a thing, immediately check if the company is legitimate and licensed. If it isn't then there's no point in investing in it. You'll just waste your time, effort, and money. Most scams usually target vulnerable people. Those people who are just always game with whatever is being served with them on a plate are the usual victims because they trust easily. Scams like these work like pyramiding. They promise great returns to their prospects. Sometimes they really pay off their victims at first only to gain their trust, then after they garner more investors and money, they will vanish in a snap, like a bubble that suddenly disappears in thin air.

It's very unfortunate for those who went all in. Scammer companies will tell you they will sell bitcoin in more price then market price or they say to invest in their project to earn 2X Bitcoin or many of these types mathods they use for victims.

Investment companies that raise capital and pay dividends have been around for years. It's a form of Ponzi and many people with or without knowledge of Ponzi still go into those companies. Because they know that their greed and the profits they can achieve are too tempting.

From your information i can conclude that, you guys must have paid him the 150 USD in Bitcoins and later the company ran away by taking your money in form of Bitcoins.
As Bitcoins is decentralised , so it’s hard to trace where the Bitcoins are sent.
Thus making the scammers easy to scam through this.

there are many ways the company generates bitcoins. for sure as you mentioned through advertising media and cost per click and it looks like they are using big name bitcoin as public attention grabber. I don't think it's necessary to explain because it's against the law. let the crimes committed by stupid people, and don't publicize how they get bitcoins because that's the wrong way.

There is no shortcut to get money except by scamming. Believing in attractive and easy-to-work offers is an attempt to attract and deceive investors. So my advice before acting is to study and ask seniors or forum who have experience especially companies that offer bitcoin easily.

This is how some of the scams that I have encountered worked, they blind you with riches and make you think that you're doing something when really you're not. Just look at what they did in OneCoin and Bitconnect, they used bitcoin as a reference and tell everyone that they're the next big thing, they capitalize on the fame that bitcoin achieved.

Personally, I have already invested into a ponzi scheme. For 3-4 months, you could actually see your investment increasing but on the last month before the maturity of your investment, the scam will happen and you will lose everything in the process.

I was able to meet the developers and project head of the team and that bias gave me the security that the project would be legit. It is more like PTC (Pay to click) sites which already knew by a lot of people that they are not really earning by watching ads or maybe something else, but what they get is money from people who deposit after him. There are some sites that we must really aware with it.

2. Sites who offer us to double our money only with deposit
3. Pay to click sites which ask us to buy ads to watch or maybe click and we get earning with that.

There are so many methods that are being used by scammers to fool people and take their money. just like the one that told your friend to invest $150 and been watching advert to be earning daily, may looking at that he should know that it is a scam and not real.

Instead of you to fall for all these things, it is best that you get a job and focus on it than looking for ways to make money quick so that you become rich all of a sudden. Sometimes scammers are not only after your money, they can steal your Personal information and use it to do whatever they want or even sell it on the dark web.
