Title: I have 500 lost Bitcoin - need help
Post by: dhru9 on November 02, 2021, 10:33:21 AM
Hello everyone
About 10 years ago, I bought 500 bitcoins, of which I used only 10, meaning that 490 bitcoins remained.
Of course, I know what they are today
I bought them because I ordered green in Darkent for those who know (where they only paid in Bitcoin at the time), it was that there was no more telegram and I was a soldier at the time.

The problem is that I do not remember what my password was to the site where I deposited the bitcoins and also do not remember what the password of the email
If there is anyone here who understands computers I would be happy to help me.
Whoever helps me will receive 200 bitcoins from me ($ 12 million)

First Advice: don't share email you use . Anyone can bruteforce it and your 490 BTC gone away !
Second advice: don't share website where you deposited bitcoin. Anyone can go there and impersonating you!
Third advice: don't share bitcoin address you used for deposit!

Try to solve the issue by yourself! Go personally to the email proveder office , and try to retrieve password with them.

OP: just have a little doubt that you 490 BTC are still there , but hope so.

Last: when you solve all, you cand send me only 20 BTC , i will appreciate  :D

Not a good idea share this info....
Teorically, if bitcoins are still there , an exchange employee that know the history (and well know that holder lost his access) can stole this bitcoin because no one will ask them in future....

The first mastake is that you hold on custodial wallet or an exchange, you will have to tell us which exchange you used, there are several cases of lost coins on some hacked exchanges which were never able to return customers funds back. Also another is that you have no full control on custodial exchanges and custodial wallets, better to use a private key wallet, noncustododial wallet would have been better in which you will properly have your private key or your seed phrase backup.

So which exchange did you used?

About your email, you can try to check if you connect your phone number or other email with it, this can help you to recover back such email.

You didn't say what website exactly you used for depositing bitcoin, but there is nothing anyone can do if that website is not alive anymore or if you don't have any private keys for that Bitcoin.

I have to say that after reading your forum post history I don't think you are telling truth, and you just wrote some sensational post maybe to get merits or some attention with trolling.

First, I will check the database for 500 BTC and 490 BTC ~10 years ago.

You still have the email then I'd reckon? It should be possible to restore the password somehow by contacting the customer support of the email provider you use. Granted it would take quite some time and probably a lot of stuff that would require you to prove that you are indeed the owner of the email, such as last time logged in, security questions, etc. It shouldn't be that difficult if you could prove it with that, but if you can't, they may ask for some hard stuff or something. Should be pretty straight forward imo.

You joined the forum over 1 year ago, and obviously knew what bitcoins were since then, but you only now remembered that you had 500 bitcoins over 10 years ago, that seems a bit odd.

If you actually did have that amount of Bitcoin, you would need to know a bit of information to be able to recover your funds, otherwise it would be impossible to recover them.

After reading your post I checked OP's post history, and I think you are right.

Here's a post that got him 4 merit

I am a tourist in other country and living in the nature
Someone rob the house and rob everything laptop, money credit cards, phone
But Only the trezor under the bed he not rob.
he probably thought is some gadget for kids.

Is saved me because i use loclbitcoins and sold my btc later and still have money with no worries
bitcoin = freedom

because ppl thought it was true ... but now I think, same as with post here, it wasn't.

It's sad that some people waste our time on reading fake stories invented by them. There are so many true stories, especially in the world of crypto, that are amazing.

I start missing those "stories" that 99.99% end the same way.. just being fairy tales, but I'm here for that 0.001%.

Let's see. Don't respond to any PMs for help you gonna get hacked even if you have 0.005btc they will be gone in seconds.

I didn't.  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5284226.msg55447067#msg55447067)  ;D
It's so easy to see through these made-up stories, they focus on only one thing and they ignore pretty obvious things.

I've seen tens of topics about poeple who claimed suddenly using bitcoins helped them do that and that, they get some merit tossed but when you asked them why haven't they done this with their business previously and why they haven't mentioned their business in 34 years of being in the forum they run away.
Merit farmers have learned the trick a long time ago, come with a sob story or come with a story about how bitcoin saved your life instant merit! What's even better is that you can milk this recipe endlessly.

It makes total sense.
He had 4.9 million locked on some website back in August and registering then on this forum is first concern was to sell some zero traffic website.
Totally legit and a normal way of doing stuff for every rational human being.

Such insanely high offers are usually used by scammers to make become blinded with greed and throw away all critical thinking. If OP asks you in private messages to visit some links, install some software, send your coins for "verification" and so on - DON'T DO IT.

It's sad that some people waste our time on reading fake stories invented by them.
With the large amount OP's mentioned, I've started to doubt it.  It seems to be true but it wasn't and I don't know what is the agenda behind this post and also curious about this account created for this thread.

Whoever helps me will receive 200 bitcoins from me ($ 12 million)

IF all of these OP is true, I suggest following what @HedgeFx advised above is an appropriate action to keep safe your long-lost treasure.
Good luck with recovering that wallet and if you have time come back it here and let us know.

The story of yours OP is hard to believe. 10 years has passed and you've only became interested retrieving it after a decade? What happened when bitcoin was $20k on 2017? If you don't remember anything then why are you expecting that someone will remember things for you? It's a mission impossible if this story is real. You don't remember important details and you're giving high amount of bitcoin which is unbelievable although it's true that before bitcoin was very cheap. You don't remember the website as in, you're digging into a bottomless hole.

There are many ways for me to lose your bitcoin, we can say that you are just a scam or you forgot your password or else ,,, maybe all I can say is that about password is forgot the password and of course your i mail and at the moment  you really need to be careful because even a crypto currency in the world is already infested with scams or maybe you just forgot, so that's all you have to reset the password and maybe you can recover more and don't waste your 500 bitcoin because for me is that a big deal

There's no one who will help you this out only yourself. Try to solve everything and don't let to handle this problem to other people, they may be run away once they recovered. If this is a centralized wallet platform, bye-bye to your bitcoin, and it may be shut down.

It looks like the odds of this fight were on mine, please update us regularly for the excellent bitcoin amount.

If the story in the OP is anything true then he is a big loser in 2021. But I don't think that this is a true story and I must say that the storyline is like a fairy tale.
OP, you've been through a lot of ATH before and I don't think you just disappeared with the 490 bitcoin you got 10 years ago. This is truly an early November joke and have a nice day.

I am always happy to help anybody recover bitcoins: my e-mail address is skybuck2000@hotmail.com.

You can try and send whatever you got over there.

However if this is a scam or you trying to infect me with some crazy executable, don't try ! LOL.

(Also don't try if you try and link me to a server infected with unicode hacks and shit nonononononono LOLOLOL.)

That stuff just makes me giggle.

But if this is real, go right ahead !

There is a good chance that the website you're pertaining to is already gone, so having that email or remembering the password won't do you any good. In any case, remember if the site exists first, and if that site is still up and running, try to check your old accounts on whether they are connected to your previous email that you've used. There really is no other way around it except for having the site still active, and you remembering even the email address for you to initiate a reset password request.

Then again, chances are very slim for this particular endeavor.

Obviously, this guy could've been looking for that lost Bitcoin years ago, i.e. $20k per Bitcoin 2017-2018 and not now.
I wouldn't even share it anymore and would just try to remember the password or even pay for a bruteforce application just to solve it.
Best case would be rent a techie and do everything inside my house or within my surveillance. Give him the proper reward if he does the job smoothly so that he won't come back after you.
But why did you wait this far? Because it is not real. But I still appreciate the story. Try writing a book.

Nothing more and nothing less than 500 whole Bitcoins :O

Independently on whether you are telling the truth or not, if that is the case you should focus all your time and efforts for a while in solving the problem. I don't think you have any other business where you can get such amount of money (to retire more than a few times) in exchange of your, let's say, a few days'/week's work.

I'm afraid that I can't help you with the technical part of your problem, but I hope you recover your bitcoins soon.

That's crazy though, and honestly speaking I was started to believe that story and begin to compute the value of 490 Bitcoins with today price, what a damn but thanks to the fast action of the fellow forum users and they found out that the story is just a hoax, it is like a classic strategy to "earn merit" imagine the author is willing to share $12million worth of Bitcoin that's crazy, question, in reality, is there any person or people willing to share that huge amount of money by just helping to recover something, I doubt it.

Whether you're speaking true or not I figured out I could at least pinpoint you to websites that were around that time period and that allowed you to buy BTC (besides the well known Mt.Gox):

  • New Liberty Standard - Was up and running around October 2009[1]. From what I could gather the same user was the one that first proposed the symbol for BTC[2]. While the WayBackMachine shows a "Sign In" button at the main page[3] I don't think that the exchange was made in a way that you could buy BTC on demand (like Coinbase for example). According to this other archived page[4] you would have to send an e-mail stating how much BTC you wanted and then whoever was running the service would sent it to you. You don't mention this kind of system so I assume this wasn't the website you've used.
While investigating your inquiry I also found out that one of the earliest BTC transactions (5,050 BTC - sold for $5,02 at the time) was made by Martti Malmi[5] as a way to help this service get started[6] - This is what amazes me regarding BTC and it's history - whenever I have to go in these kind of "investigations" I always find fascinating details / events around them that show that the initial adopters really believed in what they were creating / doing.
  • Bitcoinmarket.com - Initially the idea came from dwdollar[7] at January 15th (2010) and then the website was up in March 17th of that same year[8]. WayBackMachine also shows a "Sign In" button at the main page[9] and perhaps this was the service you've used? It seems like this exchange was a bit more developed and you might be able to get your BTC there?

Sadly, if these were one of your options you won't be able to access them as the websites are now offline. Both users also seem to have been away from their accounts for a while now (NewLibertyStandard last login was at December 5th 2012 while dwdollar was at January 15th 2019).

Your post is like a joke  :D

By the way, Were you partner of Bill Gates? coz of 10 year ago 1 bitcoin price was $60 Which is 30 thousand dollars compared to the amount of your 500 Bitcoin. Why did you leave so many dollars on a unknown website. Why didn't you remember about those bitcoins for so many days?  where in 2017 bitcoin was make a hype on the crypto industry. And the price of 1 bitcoin was over 20 thousand dollars.

You haven't said that yet Where did you deposit the bitcoins? Then how will people understand if he can recover your bitcoin

Anyway give you an honest wit : If you have really lost 500 bitcoins, you should contact the government of your country and they can help you recover your bitcoin with the help of the biggest cyber experts. if they can successfully recover your btc. You can Donate 50% for your country  development. it will better for you and your country too coz 500 bitcoin price is a huge number of usd that is 30 Million usd.

or if you just make this thread for joke or earning merit then stop your fucking joke

This platform might has closed and your coins might have already being lost. When working on crypto market it is very important to put down all your key phrases and passwords as there is no support where you can apply to return access to your wallet or account so you are the only responsible for your money, so please be very careful.

Trolling post!
Same as others, I believe OP just trolling here. Because if OP's story were true then his first post should be about lost Bitcoin. On the other hand, he hadn't shared from where he bought and where stored as well. Who know if this is a scam attempt like old scam methods. Previously we have seen asking security to hand over wallet credentials.

Anyway, I am not gonna feed OP either for merit or recover funds.

I have encountered such cases several times, and the results are always unpleasant, I think this is a fact, for email password recovery is certainly not difficult, providing valid data even coming to the email provider's office is easy, but I'm not sure that the website when you bitcoin deposit is still active because i lost about $200 from Xapo wallet which is now a scam.

...

Apart from being a fake story, still, it never ceases to amaze me how people believe that websites which hold BTC will somehow protect your coin. Any crypto deposited on any website is prone to being stolen because you have zero access to your private keys, let alone some darkweb site that probably doesn't even exist anymore. Perhaps it's ignorance on how crypto works or just navete but crypto stored online through a 3rd party is not your crypto, it's someone else's crypto that they say is yours, which can change at any moment.
