Title: When and how did you discover Bitcoin?
Post by: ChiBitCTy on December 22, 2021, 05:56:37 PM
One thing that kind of drives me crazy is I don't remember exactly when or how I discovered bitcoin.  I know that it was either late 2013 or early 2014, but I can't specifically remember when or how.  I have a few email records from late 2014 which prove that I knew of bitcoin from back then, but they do not provide any clues as to how I discovered it.

So how about you, when and how did you discover bitcoin? What were your initial thoughts?  Did you think negatively of it at first discovery and change your mind, or did you always think it was a great idea?

I did not think negative about bitcoin when I knew about it because it was a great coin at that time, I knew bitcoin barely two years ago. I saw it online and I learn how to earn it which took me to this forum. I learn about how I can avoid scammers because I learned greediness is the easy means scammers are using to scam people of their bitcoin, I learned to avoid these dangerous people and how I can keep my bitcoin safe. I have never regretted that I know about bitcoin, it has been a blessing for me. I saw about bitcoin online and I remember all the begining absolutely.

There was this faucet site that used to pay money in Bitcoins and also this site which usually paid you to watch the videos, therefore I was trying to earn some money online so I would hang around these sites and then gamble my money in slots, ended up using a lot, lol, I did not know much about it then, my friend joined the forum and then he introduced me to it, it definitely too time to get used to everything and at the same time, I do remember having some probelms with transactions to other countries then I tried using bitcoins, it worked perfectly well! I even tried downloading the mining software on the computers, well it didn't work, slowly I got to know more about bitcoins and also about the campaigns, explored the services section and at the end of all of it, now am encouraging people to adopt bitcoins and make their accounts on the forum to keep track of the whole community.

I can't really remember but the chances are I probably heard about it on a forum where I used to hang out all the time. Then I googled it and bam bitocintalk.org appeared as the first result and I am here since then. There was some price action going on at that time and people were talking about it a lot. I guess BTC owes its popularity to its volatility. It goes up, it is news, it goes down it is news. You just can't escape it.

When I was in high school (2011), I wanted to buy a fake ID.

This led me to the Silk Road. They only had one accepted form of payment..

ignored it but when the time comes on year 2015 on where it did really make out some noise then i do start on regretting on what i had missed out and i might really be rich now

if ever i do able to make investment on that time.I had discovered bitcoin when my friend told me and thats the time i had remembered that i had heard this one before.

So how about you, when and how did you discover bitcoin?
I was introduced to cryptocurrencies through someone.

What were your initial thoughts?  Did you think negatively of it at first discovery and change your mind, or did you always think it was a great idea?
These questions are quite similar, so I will lump them into one answer. My first thoughts were about how complex the whole idea was and how difficult it would be to navigate, same were my thoughts as a newbie on the forum. I never had a negative notion about bitcoin and was surprisingly very receptive to the whole technology and also very interested in learning more about it.
And Yes, I always thought it was a brilliant idea.

I firstly heard of it in 2017 (when it peaked at $18k) but didn't give to it any attention at all. Then in 2020, on another forum I was told to accept bitcoin as a service, but I had no idea how it works. The same forum redirected me to bitcointalk.org, which is how I started my journey.

And yeah, I became an addict to this concept.  :D

When I was in high school (2011), I wanted to buy a fake ID.
At least you're honest.  :P

I heard about it fairly early, around 2010. Don't really know how, but I spent a shit tone of time on the internet back then so I probably stumbled upon it. The problem is, I waited 7 years to get into it XD Well, serves me right for being cautious. By the time I got into it, it was already a big deal so it was everywhere. But I got no regrets, as far as I am concerned, I found about it in 2017 from a friend :D

I was introduced by a friend, but before I was not interested in what bitcoin and friends are, at the end of 2017 I just focused on studying bitcoin and how to get it, it turns out that bitcoin can make my finances have a good cycle

I've never thought negatively about bitcoin, but I'm excited to be able to have more of it, and the fact that from the very beginning I got to know bitcoin in 2010 until now bitcoin has taught me a lesson in holding back until it reaches a point that is more than enough for my initial capital, and I'm very grateful to my friend who gave me a link about this forum so I can get bitcoin for free

Well that was during my college time and one of my classmates talked about it.
To be honest, I don't have an idea about bitcoin before and I asked my relatives and they said, it is not safe to invest or buy my money on bitcoin and that time, I was so curious and research about bitcoin. The first website that I have found is [Freebitco.in] which is a gambling site, it triggers the free that I have been researched. And next is the forum, which is I found and get interested in.
To cut the long story short, the bad image that I have heard about bitcoin was changed because I understand correctly how it will work, so that I conclude those who criticized bitcoin did not understand how it will work.

Time flies so fast and I guess I'm getting old and have forgotten how exactly I knew bitcoin. Op, you're earlier than me when I've discovered bitcoin and that's also earlier before I'm in the forum. I guess everybody's entrance and discovery about bitcoin was because with our friend that's very curious to technologies and stuff online and that's why they've discovered and shared it to us, sort of like that the story I've got when I've been introduced to bitcoin.

Unlike you, I do remember when and exactly how I knew about Bitcoin and got involved in it. It was in late 2016 and I was doing a research for "TBC" coin and for some reason, there was more content on the forum than anywhere else - I Googled it and forum popped up as the top result. I read the content and the replies that followed. Loved the discussions and decided that this would be a good resource for crypto information and I was right about that.

I can't remember exactly the date but it was my friend who introduced me to Bitcoin but I wasn't that interested about it yet since I don't know what that is and how it works. So, I just let it fly as time pass by Bitcoin is slightly showing on the internet as I was surfing then I think that was the time I got interested about it. So, I asked my friend about it on how it would work, what are the process of gaining them and mining Bitcoin that time was the thing then after it was the faucet. I did try the faucet though but I'm tired of waiting so I just stopped.

I got the information about bitcoin through a friend in the year 2016 but I didn't invest much of time learning bitcoin. But, was focused on earning bitcoin.
Few years later I discovered how important it was to hold a strong knowledge about bitcoin generally. How it works, the block chain technology and how people mine the forum.

I learned about bitcoin the hard way. Back in 2015, I was looking for work online, which was extremely difficult. In almost a year of searching for sources of income, I came across bitcoin. The hard way is that at the time, HYIPs were widely known, and I thought that was the only way to earn bitcoin at the time, so I invested, then got scammed, and I told myself to quit, but after a week, I was researching another method of earning, and I discovered trading, forums, and investing in ICOs, from which I earn much more money.

there was an Event in church that we are in break and talking about our future plans when he put Bitcoin in discussion and since then i find interest and starts learning (with His help of course)

If im not mistaken I already heard about Bitcoin year 2013 but didnt pay much attention to it because its not on my interest yet and thinking its just another thing online that will just passed.

Fast forward to 2015, that year im active participating on Fb investment (yes, those too good to be true offer) but got scammed many times. One of this investment I joined in required to have a Bitcoin wallet. Thats how we will going to send our pay in and receive the payout as well. Unfortunately it is also a scam investment, thats the time I became curious about bitcoin due to price fluctuation, one of my friend (a trader) teach me about Bitcoin and trading.

Looking back on the past im grateful that I had a chance to know Bitcoin. I cant count my earnings already after engaging myself on crypto thats how I get back what I lost on my past investments.

The first time I heard about bitcoin was when I saw it on youtube, and at that time it was rare for youtube channels to talk about it, different from now. At that time I was not really interested in going deeper into it. A few years later, then a friend introduced him again, explaining what the advantages were if we were in it. After knowing the ins and outs of bitcoin, the knowledge that I got was extraordinary, not only knowledge about bitcoin, but I also got knowledge that is arguably more comprehensive.

Actually i have watch about this in News , and i did not trust from the beginning because according to the news this is a scam and not to be invested or buy.

Then A cousin of mine comes from outside the country and having this coin and other altcoins Because he was trader

then when we have convo , he explains everything to me and all comes enlightenment .

so till the time comes he had encouraged me and first created account here in Bitcointalk before even buying my first coin.

actually i discovered Bitcoin because of Bad reputation .

There was a group in facebook that i am with back in 2016 , we constantly sharing important information about things that might bring profits to each of us.

Then one member shared His bad experience about crypto(specifically Bitcoin) that he was a victim of a scam pyramiding until other members vouch with the same bad experience .

Then i ask about how this come and when it happens and after their explanation , i realized that this is not about the bitcoin but because of their greedy attitude.

this time i start surfing and look for where can i find more info and knowledge about this thing and until i found this forum , from there i start reading for months  before creating my Own account and start engaging in conversation in which i will benefit knowledge , so from there i start being part of the bounties and try investing small amount with my income from my participations in different sections here.

I am not going to talk about how I discovered Bitcoin, but how I could have earned quite a few at a time when it was still a relatively new concept. I had a few long-term file hosting accounts that I no longer had any use for so I decided to sell them. I found this guy from Asia who wanted to purchase the lot. This was back in 2010/2011. I don't remember the exact price that he paid for them but it was a relatively high three-digit number. Our initial deal was for him to pay me in Liberty Reserve. Just before he did, he asked if I wanted Bitcoin instead. My thoughts were no, I don't want that crap. It's funny how people change.

I remember exactly how I first discover bitcoin, it was on our Local Forum where people talk about earning on the internet online. If you guys remember Hash-Ocean, one of the known scam cloud mining sites but have been operating for 2 or more years before they decided to disappear without a trace. I was thinking to invest but without getting anything out of my pocket so I decided to join multiple faucets back then and I was just about to invest, the site was closed at the same time, they ran away with the funds of the investors. There are lots of faucets back then, you can actually make money from out of nothing if you know what you are doing.

I cant remember when I really have discovered Bitcoin for the first time. Perhaps it was in a Funny subreddit, or somewhere on 9gag.com I came across some pictures. I knew it was "electronic money", that user gain after his GPU calculates "something".

But the month I got hooked up with cryptocurrency was January 2018. I was reading BMW related topic for years, and one guy in his car diary wrote, that he has sold it and bought Ripple. He was quite a good mechanic and it was really interesting to read his topic. To read how he fixes his car, upgrade, solving some issues, but after he had sold it, I got really disappointed, because I've been reading his car topic for ages (it was as popular as our Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178336.0;topicseen)).

I felt sad until I saw new post from him. He has made another topic of his new car. It was brand new BMW X5 with full of extra. At first everyone did not believe him, because he has sold his 2001 BMW X5, and has bought 2018 BMW X5. That is a huge upgrade, and requires a lot of money.

Long story short, he has sold his old car and spent all the money on Ripple, when its price was below 1 cent. And has sold all of his Ripple, when the price reached about $2.3. He has bought a new car and two flats in a freshly built house. That was the time I google cryptocurrency, Bitcoin and registered on this forum.

For me, back in 2017. Before the bull run started I was already introduced to Bitcoin, and it was also because of Facebook and internet friends also. Doing some airdrops before and participated on some activities with shitcoins but before that, I first used Bitcoin to do some tasks online and was paid with Bitcoin.

I'm really glad that I have known Bitcoin before, lot of things changed especially how I value freedom and privacy.

I got to know about Bitcoin around early 2014.. How I got to know about it was when I went to an office, and I saw two people who were discussing about mining cryptocurrency, I was kind of interested in what they were talking about and then I joined the conversation and got to learn about Bitcoin and how the price can increase after you have mined it and all that.

Although they told me that mining Bitcoin wasn’t easy then, and that it requires a lot of energy, so I didn’t go into mining Bitcoin, rather I decided to buy it and I bought it from one of those people right there, and then I installed one of the wallets that they recommended to me back then which was Xapo.com (but the wallet is no longer available in my country, after they transitioned to becoming a bank), and that’s how I started storing the Bitcoin and also as time goes on I noticed that their value was increasing. At first I didn’t invest much in it, I just started with $250, which was also the price of Bitcoin around then.

A Greek poker told me to buy in early 2014, I ignored him & thought it was a load of rubbish. I started buying in May 2014 after thinking ‘why not’. Let’s just say it worked out very well for me & I owe that guy my life.
My advice to noobs would be, it’s never too late to invest. Just buy & be patient, set up a savings plan. Bitcoin can be your key to get out of the rat run & start living, not purely existing.

I discovered bitcoin, and I do not know what it is all about. I just searched for how I can have bitcoin. I do not have to think negatively about a new thing but I searched for more info and dug deeper about bitcoin. Fortunately, I met a faucet that helped me to have many satoshis so I can use that to deposit in Hashnest, Genesis Mining, Eobot. That is because I am curious about mining.

That was an old story about gaining the first satoshis for free and using it for trading at cex.io, bter, btc38, and else. I wish the journey would continue until I die and my kids can continue my legacy.

At first I really didn’t understand about Bitcoin. I was introduced sometime in early 2014, where I did created my Bitcointalk account on the month of February. After that, I just ignored this account for 3 years because I focused on my network marketing journey. During that time, I think BTC was under $600 and I was a very low income earner barely saving money and a disappointed to my family as well.

In mid-2017, when BTC rallied towards $10k, I began learning more about it and the rest is history.  ;D

I forgot when I know Bitcoin first time, probably at the end of 2014. I heard about Bitcoin from my friend and he showed me bitcointalk forum as the main source to get information about it.

What were your initial thoughts?  Did you think negatively of it at first discovery and change your mind, or did you always think it was a great idea?
Since the first time I heard Bitcoin, I never think it is a bad thing. I was curious about Bitcoin because it looks very potential to be my future asset. In 2015, I have started to collect some Bitcoin and hold it for some years. I became more and more interested after getting some profits from my first investment. I think you also experienced it, didn't you?

So how about you, when and how did you discover bitcoin? What were your initial thoughts?  Did you think negatively of it at first discovery and change your mind, or did you always think it was a great idea?

I first discovered Bitcoin back in 2013. Thought the idea of a digital currency was cool but never really got around to looking into it. 2016/2017 rolls around and this time, I decided to get involved. Without having done much research, I opened a Binance account and purchased about $100 of Bitcoin when it was valued at around $7,000. Once Bitcoin rose to about 18k I sold what I had (big regret) and moved on from crypto. 2020 comes around and finally, I decided to fully commit. Before reinvesting, I studied for about 2 or 3 months to make sure I had a good understanding of what the problem is, and why Bitcoin is the solution. I started following some subreddits for a while and this year, joined this forum.
Finally, I have found a community that I feel very much a part of. I continue to stack sats when possible, I have no plans on selling my Bitcoin since I finally see the potential. Yes I jumped in pretty late, yes I feel regret all the time for not keeping even the little that I had then.

But in all fairness, there was a lesson to be learned here. I'm in it for many different reasons now, most of those reasons are about being able to give back to those who are in need of assistance, share what I've learned with others, and encourage them to also get involved in Bitcoin. There are much better reasons to get involved with Bitcoin than this of course, it provides financial opportunities to those who would have otherwise been trapped.

Discovered it in early 2016, I'm a fan of gambling and I love to play dice and sports betting at that time, that interest of mine also introduce me to this forum that I fell in love with. Until now I'm still very active because I love the community and at the same time I'm learning and earning as well.

Most of my success financially, I owed it on crypto in general, and my first success was during the bull run in 2017 and early 2018, and until now I'm still here, it looks like I already married to crypto as I stick with it through thick and thin.

So how about you, when and how did you discover bitcoin? What were your initial thoughts?  Did you think negatively of it at first discovery and change your mind, or did you always think it was a great idea?

I also don't exactly remember when I first heard about bitcoins. It might have been online in an article or from a friend. But I do remember when I decided I want to get involved with bitcoins. It was in 2016, I made a few lucky bets with my CSGO skins and got scared that I have too much money on my steam account. When I looked for sites to sell my skins I noticed that the withdrawal options included bitcoins, which was faster and without any real fees compared to credit card transactions. After seeing that I really wanted to learn more about BTC and crypto currencies. This was also when I first found out about this forum.

If I remember it correctly, I first discovered Bitcoin way back early 2014-2015. And it is because a dear colleague of mine was very curious and passionate to explore the internet, so by the time he discovered it, he eventually shared it to me. I wouldn’t be where I am today without him, and I really did enjoy every bit of my time learning and earning since I knew Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general.

I knew about Bitcoin as early as 2012 or 2013 but didnt do anything, I was very
skeptical, I thought it was just some form of tokens for gamers., It wasnt until
January 2017 that I got into it with my brother.
Myself notice about bitcoin after one year bitcoin is created, in 2010 i was contemplating of what can bitcoin possesse for future and how is it going move round the world and not knowing bitcoin will cover the world within the space of twenty years, this year is completing bitcoin 11 years and the firm and populations became unbelievable for the world adoption, people have lay their 99 trust in bitcoin, believing that bitcoin will stay till hundred years

You don't remember exactly, but I do. I remember the story, but not the exact time. But I remember something in 2017. I had a smartphone which was worth $20-$30. Despite the fact that I had been using Facebook on that smartphone since 2014.In 2017, I was using YouTube and watching some videos, and in the feed list I saw a video title that said "earn money online." That was in my native language. And I watched the video, but it was about earning money on YouTube. why I was going to skip the video, but that time in the recommended list I saw a video in English with the title "Earn Money Online with a Smartphone." I thought, okay, let's watch the video that was in English. I didn't understand properly, but it was about an application that paid in bitcoin, but the app was fake. It was a simple tap to break app.I heard the bitcoin name from that video, but I didn't understand it and I skipped it. After 2-3 months, I am going to my relatives' house on vacation. And I was going out with my cousin and he introduced me to one of his friends. I saw he was working on that app and I asked him about it. He told me everything, and for the first time, he told me about bitcoin, which I understood. After arriving at my house, I searched YouTube for free bitcoin earn videos and found some in Hindi, which I followed. My native language is Bangla, but I know a little bit of Hindi from watching Hindi films.By following them now, I am here. The channel was airdrop related and the channel name is Genuine Airdrops, managed by Abhisheikh. And I am still following his channel. It's really an interesting journey of mine.

Thanks for asking. It really made me emotional.

and finally early 2018, the first bitcoin asset that I kept till this year. because of a need, I finally had to let it go.

I heard bitcoin I think in late 2016 from some of my close friends because they used to talk about it a lot when we were together, and at the time I didn't understand and when they talked about it a lot and was very impressed some of my friends talked about the benefits they get from bitcoin and makes me curious.
and as time went on they discussed the future of bitcoin and I became more and more curious and finally I tried to look it up on the internet and read it bitcoin innovation was very interesting, and when we got back together they talked about bitcoin finally I volunteered to get involved and asked some of my friends to explain bitcoin until I really understand it.
and at the beginning of 2017 i tried to try to invest a small amount and if i am not mistaken in March i started in this forum because of a suggestion from my friend, and this forum is more interesting because i can learn everything here bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
because starting with some of my friends i make profit from bitcoin and besides this forum is an additional source of income for my holdings. Thank you guys because it all started with you.

I don't remember the specific dates, but I think it was early 2014, and I learned about it from a friend whose attention to Bitcoin was caught by mass media popularizing the event of FBI closing Silk Road. Neither me nor my friend heard of darknet before, and we had no idea there was a sort of money that was used there. So my initial stance was wary, I would say. I thought of Bitcoin as a form of money, but the kind of form that's largely used for illegal activities. Then I slowly became warmer to it, seeing that many people here on Bitcointalk were interested in Bitcoin, and yet weren't criminals. So by 2015 I thought of Bitcoin more as of a revolutionary form of money that happens to be used by criminals, but didn't hold it against Bitcoin itself.

I just came to discover bitcoin.
Then I started working on it and tried to discover more and more about it. Uptill now I have discovered a lot of things about it and now I am able to tell others that what actually bitcoin is.

I think mostly in my country know crypto when stellar booming because we need to connect to our facebook account to earn it. Or at least that is when i know it. And then i started to jumped into airdrops and doing trading which sometimes only burn what i get from airdrops or giveaways.

When I first heared about bitcoin way back 2016, I didn't really cared about it or atleast gave any thought because I just thought it was just an another SCAM who promised profits or returns to gain investors, what I did is I just listened but there's nothing going inside my mind as I don't have any interests about it at all, maybe my mind is just tired to hear any new schemes that somehow won't survive in the coming months. But then, a friend of mine has shared it again to me on the following year how he's life has drastically changed about bitcoin and that's the start of my interest on bitcoin. And the rest was history!

It's ridiculous,
I never really thought Bitcoin was a scam coin. But I have a little in common with you. At an early age, I thought the price of Bitcoin would go down and the price of Altcoin would go up. I have always spent time and effort on altcoin mining thinking that altcoin would be more expensive than Bitcoin, but I quickly realized my mistake and turned my attention from altcoin to Bitcoin holding. As much as time and effort I spent on altcoin, if I put that effort into Bitcoin, today I would be a millionaire.

Then I accidentally found an article that talk about Bitcoin, at first I wasn't sure about Bitcoin. So at that time I was looking for a way to get
Bitcoin for free, therefore initially I got Bitcoin through faucets and airdrops. After the price of Bitcoin continued to rise, I decided to buy Bitcoin
for the first time around mid-2017, and when the end of 2017 Bitcoin pump and I managed to make a profit. Then entering 2018 I started trading
altcoins and suffered losses. Then continue to try investing in the ICO is also the same, a lot of losses. In the end I began to realize that I had to
focus on investing in Bitcoin, but because I never thought Bitcoin could rise as high as it is now, I don't collect a lot of Bitcoins and I regret not
collecting as many Bitcoins.

I really appreciate everyone’s responseS! This is one of those topics I’ve always been very interested in in regards to bitcoin. While I really wish I could remember exactly how I learned of it, I do know that I continued to learn and educate myself and it was mostly all about the technology. As a financial advisor I was always aware of how corrupt most countries fiat systems/central banks/banks were, so learning of how bitcoin was meant to improve that it really caught my attention. I see a lot of people leaned of bitcoin simply for its profitability factor, which I wish wasn’t as much the case. Yes bitcoin can help make you money but it’s the decentralized electronic breakthrough that’s really important.

Can it really produce? Is it safe? And similar questions. Until finally my boyfriend got his first money from bitcoin, from there I became interested in knowing more about bitcoin.

2017 is the Year ..

I can clearly remember that it is My Fathers Bday when one of Step Brother come to celebrate with us (as we are not that close)

So when we get a chance talking , we have nothing to start conversation as He open it up and ask me if i have Idea about Cryptocurrency.
Of course I don't know what's this , so He explain and tell me that this is how he make a living then, so I find this interesting and get my laptop and ask Him to teach me little thing about this infront .
so from that moment we become closer and he become my Mentor in Crypto Investing specially Bitcoin as this is the main investment he has.

Almost all the members of this forum when they first knew Bitcoin did not believe that Bitcoin could be as big as it is now. Or even Satoshi Nakamoto
did not expect Bitcoin to be as big as it is today, where the price of Bitcoin also continues to rise. I'm also not much different from most of

I thought Bitcoin would only be a currency for making transactions on the internet. It turns out that the popularity of Bitcoin is increasing very quickly
and many people are using Bitcoin as a digital asset to make money. Then it surprised me to know when the end of 2017 Bitcoin could hype,
therefore I really regret not collecting Bitcoins when I first heard about it.

Happens when i Lost my Job back in 2016 , I'm so desperate in finding something profitable in all areas because i was devastated when our company needs to shutdown because of internal problem and i need to provide food and shelter for my family (as back then i am still renting an apartment )
there was this Site i come across and they are offering simple task and i will earn some amount but this is not fiat instead this what they called Bitcoin/satoshi as payment.
so i dig in internet to learn how can i accumulate or which place to put this coin to be converted in fiat.
and while surfing there i find out this Forum (bitcointalk.org) from this point there are so much offerings here inside from Bounties to signature campaigning.and so I try most of those that i have knowledge and know what is the best thing i get from Bitcoin? that is when i bought my Own house after the Bull market happens before the end of 2017.
so Thanks to Bitcoin and cheers forever .

For the first time I get to know about Bitcoin from my mum. He told me about Bitcoin pizza day that one man bought two pizzas for several millions dollar and I was puzzled, I really didn't understand what bitcoin was and why it was going up in price. My mum didn't manage to explain me, and them some time I wasn't heard about it anything, but then I went for investment course where I was acquainted with blockchain technologies.

That was how my journey in Cryptocurrency began, how I discovered this forum is another story.

There will always be people who hate Bitcoin, because after all it is very difficult to get everyone in the world to support Bitcoin. But let people who
hate Bitcoin will regret their decision, because they will miss the opportunity to get profit from Bitcoin. I'm happy and grateful now that I can still
support Bitcoin, because there will be more profit that I can get in the future from Bitcoin. So if there is a newbie who is new to Bitcoin right now,
immediately start collecting Bitcoin from now on. Because if we study the movement of Bitcoin, the price of Bitcoin tends to continue to rise every year,
so starting to collect Bitcoin from now is actually not too late, because the possibility of Bitcoin prices in the future will be much higher.

I grew up in an environment and at a time where, looking back on it, I’m shocked I didn’t pay attention to it sooner. I was always on my computer, heavily involved in tech any way I could be, my buddies and I in high school attended DEFCON. But somehow Bitcoin never clicked for me.

Then I started playing around with it in 2019. Bought some, but didn’t think much of it.

Then in early 2020, through work I happened to have a conversation with a general partner at a fintech-centered VC fund. Say what you will about VCs, web3, etc., but this lady has a pretty good understanding of Bitcoin (her fund started buying in small amounts years ago). I basically asked her “so what’s this Bitcoin think about” and she took the time to explain it to me. I’ll be forever grateful.

I first discovered bitcoin when the Lulzsec hacker group was active in 2011 and asked for donations to support the group. I was amused by their antics and felt the coin was overpriced given how rapidly it was appreciating. I followed it on and off since then and finally took the plunge a few years ago. It's better late than never!

I first read about it in a Vice Motherboard article back in 2011.

Some kid was using his school's computers to mine bitcoin and then selling them for "real money".

Naturally, the first thing I asked myself was "What Is Bitcoin?" and the journey down the rabbit hole began.

I tried to buy some back then but you could only buy them from some place called "MtGOX" in Japan by sending an envelope full of cash or a bank wire. Since I felt that was antithetical to the bitcoin ethos, I ended up not buying any.

It wasn't until 2013 when the economic collapse in Greece pushed the price to like $150 and Bitcoin made news headlines. At that point, I knew that it had staying power so I began looking for ways to buy. I believe my first purchase was like .19 BTC for $20 through BitInstant.

Little did I know at the time but that purchase would change my life forever.

He then explained me about earning Bitcoin in bitcointalk.org. I then learnt and went through articles and posts about bitcoin and how I should move about here in this forum. And this is how I came to know about Bitcoin and crypto currencies. I really thank my friend and yes to Satoshi and to this forum. Hats off.

It’s good too see so many replies here about how everyone discovered the bitcoin. Most of them are either accidental or through extra income sources reason. Not bad as everyone has some needs to fulfill and they will find the extra income sources like this all the time. Even I also started this when one of my friend introduced me with bitcoin world. The guy was from my country itself who bought me so much of happiness today just because of his one effort to turn myself into cryptonian.

I am a new person who accidentally got to know bitcoin because I only saw a glimpse in the advertisements of several platforms that discussed stocks.
I started following little by little and it turns out that after remembering I've been here for a few years, but knowledge about crypto is still lacking and I'm still looking to make me believe more that this is a pretty good thing to do.
on the other hand a lot of people out there say that being here was a mistake and after I tried it wasn't that bad

I was fortunate enough to discover BTC back in 2017 where its price was around ~$2,000ish. Unfortunately, I was not able to take advantage of its price since I almost withdrew most of the BTCs I earned from campaign signatures in order to pay for my educational materials.

While some may have doubts as to its existence, the best time to really discover BTC is when you actually discovered it the first time, whether it be today or the past week. What matters is that once you discover its existence, it is imperative that you purchase some for long-term investment due to its inflationary and volatile nature.

Most people here I saw around 2016 and 2017 had already known bitcoin but I didn't see even one of them saying that they are very happy because they are now a millionaire. So meaning to say, most of us here spending our bitcoin and didn't able to hold any of that amount and I think even a small fraction has a big value.

I have known bitcoin back 2015 and but I didn't mind it and after a year it seems it comes very popular in my country and one of my friends started talking about this. I have been doing my research at that time, different platforms that I have found, and one of those is this forum and other exchange and website that has a faucet I which I did not satisfied I purchased some amount on the exchange platform. But unfortunately, I sold all when bitcoin create a new ATH in 2017-2018 I guess. But for me, the past is past and if you have learned something in the past you can apply it now that could be useful in the future.

It was my uncle who told me about bitcoin. He was talking about how online transactions have made it easier for him to operate his business from anywhere in the world. And then, he started telling us about how bitcoin trading and investments have been filling his pockets, which made me even more interested in bitcoin.

Yes, we're both the same. I also heard it from my cousin way back 2017.. He was resigned from his job because of this what we so-called "digital currency".And it is proven and tested that bitcoin is not a scam like what others think. He started to build his own house and bought a new car. And I think it is a good idea for me to try this kind of job.

It's been almost a year since I first found out about Bitcoin and other cryptos. I know crypto from one of my friends who already knows about crypto and has been involved in it for a long time. He told me a lot about crypto and the many things he was able to fulfill since joining it. That's why I'm interested in participating in cryptocurrency because I need additional income. My friend bhakna taught me and continued to accompany and direct me when I was trading.

It was around 2014 that I was reading an article about Bitcoin on a local forum, and I thought this would be impossible. Some time later I read an article about someone who bought a box of pizza with Bitcoin, we all knowing it as Bitcoin Pizza Day later, then I became interested in Bitcoin, and here I am, meeting competent people like all of you, sharing knowledge and making I am a professional Bitcoin activist like now.

Bitcoin is the most popular cryptocurrency and for financial gain also. As bitcoin help many users to pay bills also.

Did you even read my post, what does this have to do with the questions I asked?

Again I appreciate everyone's responses here.  I find it really interesting all of the different ways that people discovered bitcoin.  Part of me wonders if I will ever find/come across another technology so groundbreaking in my lifetime.  That's part of the reason it drives me so crazy that I can't remember how I found bitcoin, being that it was such a life changing event.

So how about you, when and how did you discover bitcoin? What were your initial thoughts?  Did you think negatively of it at first discovery and change your mind, or did you always think it was a great idea?

I heard about Bitcoin in 2015 I can't remember it specifically and I honestly thought It was another form of scam, because they introduced to us first their altcoin and they said It's a product of Bitcoin as the mother of all Cryptocurrency.

Then went back and became interested in 2016 and that's how I started my journey in crypto space then I found this forum as the most reliable source of information for crypto in general.

I remember it like it was yesterday.  I was sitting at work doing research for a book I was writing that at the time I was calling The Race To Debase, about how countries were going to eventually resort to devaluing their currencies at ever increasing rates in an effort to make their debt manageable.  While doing so I discovered an article talking about a new currency that was being used in a new kind of black market.  At the time I thought getting Bitcoin was as close as you could get to investing in the Black Market and when I ran the market cap numbers it seemed to be an intriguing opportunity.  That led me to begin walking down the rabbit hole as I did my DD.  The more I learned, the more I thought that a p2p currency with a built in solution for fighting endless currency depreciation was the answer I had been searching for to combat the world's biggest issue, financial oppression of those in poverty.  This led me to divert my effort from wanting to inform people about currency manipulation to taking action.  Within 2 years I had resigned from my job to begin working full time on cryptocurrency, starting various online shops/organizations, doing interviews with media outlets (including Forbes) and offering services to the crypto community.  Even though I had a lot going on in my life during that period (6/2011-4/2013), the support, talent, and positivity in this community at the time was so overwhelmingly positive, knowledgeable, and supportive, it was crystal clear that Bitcoin would be extremely successful (not so clear now as toxic maximalists ride the wave and lash out at the innovators who created it for them).

Are you in Crypto yet?  You should be!  I'm thinking of giving Crypto to people for Christmas and that got me thinking.  Crypto would be an excellent way to save for retirement, for a childs college or their well being in general. What could that do for them? This will blow you away! This is simply Buying and Holding, what I've recommended as the easiest way to do it.
Had you invested JUST $100 in any of the top coins a year ago the value of it now will blow your mind!  Take a look
     Coin                    1 yr             5 yrs
Bitcoin (BTC)           $336,          $8052
Ethereum (ETH)      $880,          $44,000
Solana (SOL)           $10,142       NA
Terra (LUNA)           $13,600       NA
Want to know what $1000 would be worth now?  Just add a 0 to the end of it.  It's not uncommon to invest $1000 and in two years it be worth $1 million!
So you see, you could very likely invest a little now for a child or grandchild and they would never have to worry about finances the rest of their lives!

i like this topic, the first time i got to know bitcoin was when one of my customers asked me if i accepted Bitcoin payments?  honestly at that time i felt very stupid because i didn't understand what he meant.  i finally self-taught what Bitcoin and Altcoin are on internet, until i found out that not only bitcoin is a decentralized coin, and monero is one of the best privacy coins.

But in two years I had sold nearly 4 bitcoin.Even still now, I was worry about that incident.Because if I had that 4 bitcoin. It's enough for one to live a happy life now.Now with a certain year interval, the price of bitcoin was increased to huge value. So we can get huge profit from it.

I would call it my biggest regret of not making good investment in bitcoin at that time even though i had money for investment. Anyways, no one can change the past now.  :(

Glorious day bro,  :D
I was joined a year later than you, you had gotten 0.04BTC/post right? that means near around 1 BTC weekly??   :o
very lucrative sum, I just wanna ask did you ever check those old wallets recently? I hope you may get some hidden treasures from one of them.

When I have checked my old ETH wallet recently, I find out some coins with good market value. most probably those coins came from airdrops that I didn't notice at that time, or I didn't sell at that time because of low market value. But, last year when I sold them got a handsome amount of money.  :)

Same situation honestly on which i've been finding out some jobs online and my friend do told me about this forum on which it did really open up the opportunity on earning more.
I do have that same thoughts that what if i do able to make to save all of those coins until now then i might really be that millionaire here on my country on just
doing signature campaigns.  :D

but sadly i would really need to cash out those earnings since i do really need to do so for me to survive on daily basis but i didnt have any regrets though and im still
thankful on what i do able to achieve now.

I found out about Bitcoin around 2017 when it is in the bullish season from one of my friends. He has a community and he taught me about this. After that, I came to learn more about Bitcoin and also cryptocurrencies.
Stared from the beginning, I never thought negatively about Bitcoin, never thought that Bitcoin is a scam or whatever like what people said at that time. Because, I saw the success of my friend because of crypto, moreover Bitcoin. I was really admired for his successfulness, he could really change his life with Bitcoin, seem like being rich after being involved in the crypto world.
Yeah, I admitted that at the first, I was interested in Bitcoin because I also wanted to be rich soon like him. But in fact, it was not as easy as I thought, almost gave up, but finally, I could continue in the crypto world step by step, evaluating and also improving all thing that I could do in the crypto world. Learning for trading, investment, and also other things, inclduing in this forum.
There are many experiences to take from the past, yes, of coruse, it's true. Successfullness will not come in instant ways.

Though I had some idea from the forum in earlier days but it was merely an on off situation for me and would just read it as casus fun thing. But things for me started kicking off when I heard it from my work colleagues and the way they started about it was just jaw dropping for me. Mine was also through a colleague in the office that I was working in. The colleague that told me about Bitcoin was a very close friend of mine and we were both interested in working online as a means of getting side income. He told me about Bitcoin and how he has been investing in it for some time, and I picked interest immediately and started investing in it as well, after I read about it and it seemed quite interesting to me.

And apart from the fact that it is a good investment, another thing that also attracted me was that I can use it for transaction to anywhere in the world, and it sort of made things easier for me, seemed like a cool technology. Bitcoin is really useful in so many ways.

As far as I remember there has been a topic like this but it's been sunk for a long time...

my friend who introduced Bitcoin to me, at first I felt it was just a hoax and it couldn't be big but he kept trying to change my thinking about Bitcoin and thank God until now I still really love bitcoin. Fear and doubt of course arise for someone who is hearing bitcoin for the first time, for those who want to introduce it to friends or relatives, don't give up.

I got introduced by a friend who really didn't care much for Bitcoin just treated it like a novelty worth discussing. I went home and started doing research and at first wanted to mine, then I wanted to invest in cloud mining, we all know how that went... ;) Later I started trading, altcoins first, then Bitcoin, then after some time I came to understand how it all works and saw the benefits of holding.

We are all thrown into this space and try to make sense of it, but it takes time. If your first thought after joining the space was to buy and hold bitcoin, you are among the lucky ones who used a shortcut while the rest of us had to run a whole marathon.

I don't either quite remember exactly when or how I discovered Bitcoin. But I am almost more than sure it had something to do more with seeing advice from 4chan on how to buy illicit substances on the newly formed darkweb. Of course I immediately became curious as to how exactly criminials could anonymously send each other money over the internet and law enforcement being completely helpless to stop them.

The idea of such a powerful anonymous monetary system that was completely out of any governments control was very interesting to me. So I studied it, learned more and more and now here I am with you guys.

I think it was in May 2016 when its price was at $500 that I saw a post on Twitter that talked about bitcoin and a good opportunity to invest in it. The publication struck me as very fantastic in addition to using a technology that I did not know. At that time I was looking for information on how to create a PayPal account to receive money from abroad and if I had investigated more about bitcoin, I would be telling another story.

In a bid to earn extra income online that was how I discovered bitcoin that was early 2017, I worked by filling mrai which would be sold by our manager in this forum then, our manager paid us according to numbers of captcher we filled daily, I opened a blockchain wallet where all
my calculated daily earnings was paid into, it's was quite an interesting time, I learnt so many things about bitcoin with regards to how it is being transacted from a sender to a receiver or a buyer to a seller vise versa, I remembered all those time with nostalgia.

Almost everyone knows about Bitcoin these days. If you make use of social media or you go outside there is the possibility that you are going to hear someone talk about crypto currency or especially on social media. I got to know about cryptocurrency through Twitter. There are times that crypto currency usually trend especially when the price becomes bullish.

You would always see it trending on social media twitter and a lot of people would be talking about it. That was how I really got to know about it, though I also had to do my own research to have a full understanding on what it is really all about. I never really needed anybody’s support because there were lots of helpful articles that I could find online which helped me to create my own wallet and startup investment in cryptocurrency.

When googled there are already topics alike tgat are now in off-topic section, though it’s still good to reminisce how it all started when everybody still thinks bitcoin is a scam and only few were using it in my countru, some were told to be scammers as many didn’t believe in bitcoin when I started to know and study it wayback 2015-2016  though its nice I found this forum and know there are already people who are interested in it and proves it’s profitable.
That’s right. A lot of people in my country thought that cryptocurrency was another Ponzi scheme. Ponzi scheme is one of the scams that has trended in my country and it made a lot of people start being scared of investment. every little thing they see they always think that it is another Ponzi scheme and it has made people to distrust every sort of investment that there is.

So, when Bitcoin was still new and a lot of people were still getting to know what it is all about, they thought that it is something that also relates to Ponzi scheme. But after the started to see that Bitcoin has lasted for a long time and despite everything it continues to stay strong, now they are all starting to believe in it.

saw it discussed in a tech forum in 2011. followed the threads for a bit thinking it was kinda crazy, but, well my kind of crazy as i was familiar with using GPUs to do computational work in folding@home and other distributed computing projects. so i spun up some GPUs to mine btc and here i am.
My girlfriend was the first person that talked to me about btc in the year 2015, I didn't give her much-listening ear because I never understood what she was doing and I was like how do you want me to venture in to something you are not even sure that will stay up to 1year before it will crash? But today I am here because with btc she has a good testimony.
Bitcoin news have come down well, Bitcoin is currency that everyone knows about it, if i have forgot how i notice what is bitcoin but i remember that somebody told me about bitcoin,  and that time the news is not as open as it is this time, and i started to check for it for internet, today Bitcoin is asset which everyone is ready to work towards it.

Its difficult to remember the date exactly but it should be was end of 2016. I heard about bitcoin from one of my facebook friend. I saw a comment on a facebook post where a anonymous guy post to knock him if anyone want to income. I inboxed him and then he told me investment on random hyip websites with bitcoin or perfect money. Later he explained more about bitcoin and this is the story of mine

I first met and discover bitcoin way back 2017, I remember this was the year where bounty hunters are really earning great profit and I've been participating actively at it. This is also the time where I didn't expect that earning online is possible and this was also the time I can't fully decide to invest fully because this time it was questioned and somehow accused as scam. But even though I have some hesitation at that time I am still an active crypto user since then.

I discovered Bitcoin account in 2013.Maybe I didn't understand well then. If I had read well then, I would have had a different position today. From 2013 to 2017, I did not give such importance. When I should have given importance. I couldn't do anything from other people from this forum.I had many opportunities but could not take advantage of them.
A bitcoin account? Everyone does have the same thought if we knew bitcoin at the beginning and early days. But that's it, we have to move on and deal with its current state that it got a higher price now compared to years ago.
Where are we during those times in the past? We didn't give importance to it because the value was little and it's not yet that popular. That's common and people weren't curious back then, only a few.

I have discovered it via checking weird forums back in the day. I was interested in making money online, and I was looking at places that allowed people to make money by solving captcha, or other methods, and it would pay peanuts as well so it was really hard to send that money via paypal or any other method since it was so little.

I saw an offer that said they are willing to pay with bitcoin and then the limit would be zero, that way you could earn 2 bucks and would still be able to withdraw. These type of jobs usually had like 50-100 dollars withdraw minimum so that most people would work a bit and leave. So seeing that, I checked bitcoin and found this forum and rest is history. This happened about 7-8 years ago.

How I got to know about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general is kinda funny to me each time I remember, below is how it all played out.

I can't remember exactly when it was but I think it was in late 2015, there came this ponzi scheme popularly known as MMM at the time, it grew and become very popular in my country to the extend that almost every one on the street and corners of the country was into MMM, each country mostly in Africa and Asia had their own version of MMM, and there was also a global version which was referred to as MMM united.
The difference was that local MMMs pay users in their local currencies while MMM united which was the global version paid users in bitcoin and Ethereum.
Being from Nigeria, I was introduced to MMM Nigeria by @dalemat, by then, he was one of the leaders in MMM Nigeria due to having many referrals, so he had his own community on telegram, MMM Nigeria was paying members 30 percent monthly, but along the line, our then boss, @dalemat introduced us to MMM united which was paying 100 percent monthly in bitcoin and Ethereum, I signed up on MMM united and that was how my research about what bitcoin is began.

It didn't take long before MMM crashed in 2016, I and everyone else lost good amount of money, then our boss, @dalemat introduced a new crypto currency called Kuwait coin to us, the coin was in its ICO then, and it might be worthy of note that Kuwait coin was the reason I signed up on this great forum, I and every one else from dalemat's community invested in Kuwait coin but it ended up being a scam, we all lost our money including our boss, dalemat. Before Kuwait coin decide to run away with investors money, I've gotten familiar with bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies available back then, so after the scam, dalemat then introduced us to day trading on poloniex exchange.

This was how I began my bitcoin/crypto journey and till date, am still here.

Someone do introduce it to me on the time that he had asked out for some Bitcoin payment and i was curious on that time and thats the reason i do make out some in depth research about it
and able to find out to be interesting  and thanks to that on where i had able to engage out on this market which did really put out lots of opportunities for me to earn even more than
with my current job until now.Im thankful that this one did really at least put me into a situation on where finances isnt really that much of a problem.

I discovered Bitcoin listening to a random news report, years ago, back during its first big rally in 2017, I think? The media was absolutely saturated with talk about it, and I got curious about what that was, how it worked and so on. I didn't trade it back then though, it already seemed to high to me to be buying it.

I don't remember exactly what year I was surfing the web to see if there was anything I could do online I happened to see an advertisement for an investment channel that makes daily profits. I later learned its name is HYIP, most HYIP sites accept deposits WebMoney, perfect money and accept bitcoin. My bitcoin journey started here, I started searching for the bitcoin keyword and later I also joined many bitcoin ponzi investment channels. And you know the result then...

Using myself as an example, I heard about bitcoin since 2017 by my friend who was into it but I didn't border to know what it was all about till 2019 when he has made a lot of money through bitcoin.

This was the way my closest friend learned about cyrpto as well. It was a place he knew that was a fake and scam website, but he realized that they were doing legit few times then scam, legit few times and scam and that kept going in a random order.

So, he decided to enter it, bought some bitcoin from someone, put in 100 bucks, got out 300 bucks, next time he put 100 bucks again and made 220 bucks, next time he put 100 bucks again and it was gone. He did this a few more times and he ended it with about 350 bucks profit in total and 100 bucks of his initial investment so 450 bucks.

Rest was just his crypto history and he bought a car and a good computer (very expensive one with like 3090 and all that) from that 100 bucks, took him 5 years to do that though :D. It's never quickly get rich story.

Very interesting for me how I discovered bitcoin. I used to search on internet that how to earn. I found many sites like paid to clicks, Clixsense, and many more like this. I see one thing that these sites has bitcoin payment deposit or withdrawal or referral purchase. Then I started from there and now reached Bitcointalk forn where we discuss everything about crypto industry or crypto related things.

Wow, at that price, you are unquestionably a millionaire if you can hold on to it until now. I discovered bitcoin in 2016, I graduated from college around 2015, and I still hadn't found a job at the time. Earning money online is becoming increasingly popular, so I tried for almost a year to find online jobs or any other form of income, but I failed miserably. I tried everything I'd read about on blogs. For example, I recall a time in June of 2016 when I was about to give up on finding a job online when I discovered a bitcoin group on Facebook. Curious, I joined and began learning about bitcoin. It was at this point that I met a lot of people online who guided me through the process, and it is through them that I am now able to make money with bitcoin.

I discovered Bitcoin in the summer of 2017. I was on a vacation with my family and I was bored so I started scrolling trough the Facebook newsfeed. I stumbled upon a Facebook group where I saw the name of one of my faculty teachers. He has relatively unique name so it caught my eye. I joined and pretty quickly I registered here on the forum where I started reading and learning about Bitcoin and crypto in general. I must say that it was exiting to see messages from satoshi and other early adopters.

I do remember the first day when I learned about Bitcoin but it's not in a good way, back in the day my cousin referred me to the HYIP program where you will double your money and earn every day by investing in it. But apparently, it become a scam which gets me annoyed and lose a lot of money. And, months passed I read and watch about Bitcoin how it really works.

The good thing is that I learned a lot those days and promise myself not to join this kind of scheme and focus on trading.

That means you enjoyed ATH 2017 right? You're lucky because I'm a user who can't enjoy ATH 2017 even though when I signed up for an account the bitcoin price was still quite expensive for me to have.

I read newspapers and some other online media and I found bitcoin being talked about even though some of my friends have been here for bitcoin since mid 2015. I really didn't realize that until one day they admitted they had been here for a long time and even had hundreds of bitcoin. This is my 4th year on the forum, I'm really enjoying it now and I'm lucky during that time I'm enjoying some ATH.

Hey as someone who works in finance and teaches people about investing for a living I get it and understand. People taking advantage of others financially is actually how I chose my career, I wanted to fight back. I always tell my clients you live and learn, as long as you learn it’s alright. It’s when you make the mistake twice and don’t seek the advice of a legit professional that you have a serious problem on your hands lol.  Key piece of advice, there’s no such thing as a guarantee in finance, there’s actually quite a few very strict finance laws around saying as much.

Yeah, I somewhat enjoyed the 2017. ATH. I didn't bought Bitcoin right away in the summer because I didn't know anything about it. First real money that I have earned came from airdrops that were really popular back then here in this forum. Only after I earned my first "real" money by selling those airdrops I bought Bitcoin. Back then everyone was telling me to sell all my crypto when the price started rising. But I sold about 80% at the beginning of 2018. like I knew that it was the peak of that bull run.

This guy just kept talking about it and I think for a week, it was all he could talk about. I was reluctant to join and forgot about it till late last year when another friend convinced me to join and I've seen it was not really a Ponzi scheme, so I began my journey early this year and TBH, I have no regrets.

I got to know about Bitcoin through a family member. He always talks about Bitcoin and was introducing it to all of us in the family and telling us to invest in it. At first I didn’t really like the idea of investing in Bitcoin because I wasn’t so sure whether it was safe or not.

Another thing that really discouraged me a bit was the fact that the creator was anonymous and I even found it difficult to understand what the decentralization was all about, although the family member that introduced it to c everything. And as time goes on I started to understand what it is all about and how it works. And so after some months I decided to invest in it. That was in 2016, and since then I have steadily been investing in Bitcoin.

I've known Bitcoin through a work mate last 2017. I was actually hesitant at first and even thought of it as a scam despite all the good things that I've been hearing about it. I'm lucky because my friend didn't stop convincing me to invest in it. I invested a small portion of my salary on it and when I realized that it's really legit, I've added more funds to it. I was able to gain a good profit during 2017's bull run. I'm just grateful that my friend didn't give up on teaching me about basic trading and investing. Now, most of our family members are already into cryptocurrency.

We have this saying " too good be true" maybe your just a believer of that saying, that is why you doubt btc at first. You are literally lucky that your friend didn't introduce you to the wrong investment. You know the pyramid types of investments, where the only way that early investors can earn is by recruiting someone else. You are safe as long as you invest on your own, you control your account and you control all of your assets but if will be more safer if you chose a wallet that lets you hold your private keys and phrases with you.

I notice that many people still didn't care about that but they are already contented as long as they can login and see that their coins are still there.

My discovery of Bitcoin was a big conviction cause I saw my  friends putting their Bitcoin into Ponzi scheme which I thought was the best way to put Bitcoin in trade. I joined them and I lost with big regret cause I know nothing about Bitcoin then. Convincing me go into Bitcoin again was very difficult for me cause I lost big amount of fund before my very own eyes. I learnt from the hard way but I never gave up cause I had to learn about it from the scratch to be prevent another story.

I found out about it in probably 2016.  Didn't buy until 2017 though.  I mostly held, but traded a lot in 2018 which didn't end too well for me. But luckily Ive always held and ever since around 2018, I've really gotten into the aspect of bitcoin that there's no intermediary.  No banks.  Peer to peer cash transfer, it's really quite remarkable.  I'm old now, and as I've learned over the years, I can say with confidence that it's the fastest growing technology I've ever seen.  Truly incredible what bitcoin is, and what it can become.  I hope it lifts up those in 3rd world countries that don't have access to banks, and I truly believe it is power for the people. It will change everything.

I first heard the word "bitcoin" back in like in 2020. I saw videos of people talking about bitcoin and making jokes out of it. In 2021, I saw even more videos of bitcoin and this time, people were talking about a lot of money in videos. I decided to search up the price of bitcoin and google said that the price was exactly $50,000. Right now, I was shocked when I searched up the price and it was exactly at $50,000. So in late 2021, I got interested in bitcoin and decided to invest money into one of the popular investment apps called "Robinhood." Here I am now. Recently I started mining and so far i made 14 cents off of bitcoin. So yes, I am new here as you can tell by reading this. Bitcoin is a great cryptocurrency. People can discover bitcoins by listening to finance, video jokes, and other... I've learned bitcoin, how it works, and the history of it.

and at the time I didn't know bitcoin would be so expensive. because I probably exchanged a lot of PTC bitcoins at that time into dollars.
my biggest regret is that.

I somehow discovered Bitcoin (or some subject related to Bitcoin, probably hashing) somehwere around 2014. That's when I registered in this forum. But I think I wasn't looking for Bitcoin by then, so I didn't give it too much importance back then.

I think I was playing with hashcat and eventually came across with this forum due to graphics for hashing passwords and they were also being used for mining. But I was after password cracking I guess, with grphic cards and hashcat. Then, I think I come back to the subject of mining back in 2016 or so and finally I started directly interacting with Bitcoin in 2018. I've been learning as much as possible since there, and HODL'ing mostly!

I can't forget this life changing opportunity of mine during March of 2016 when my friend first told about Bitcoin and what is was meant for, at first I didn't believe in Bitcoin Until 2017 when I fully developed much interest and time for Bitcoin and did more research on the internet and YouTube played a major role in the discovery and knowledge about my Bitcoin Journey today.

That's a long time ago, I don't remember how exactly I got involved in Bitcoin, but it was somewhere between 2013-2014. I was young and dumb back then, around 14-15 years old at max, with absolutely zero knowledge about cryptocurrencies. I was slowly introduced via Bitcoin faucets, gathering what seemed worthless bits back then, only to be proven wrong a few years later.

I'm on the forum since 2014, I was ignorant back then, and as an underage person, didn't have access to Bitcoin markets. I was lucky enough that some of the BTC acquired back then, was saved till now.

Don't remember the years but first heard about it online when it was only some cents or dollars. Next time heard about it when it was 300 USD and I remember thinking first time if I should buy it but was too afraid "because it had gone up so much recently". Checked it few times during the following  years and felt the same way. Then 2020 read about news that Paypal is thinking about adapting Bitcoin to its wallet and understood that if they do that, it will make Bitcoins price grow so I bought my first sats and started to learn about it. Following months BTC rose quickly so kept buying more, kept educating myself more about it and nowdays I am all in and working in a company which accepts Bitcoin as a payment.

So how about you, when and how did you discover bitcoin?
I also have a memory like you, it's not clear when and where I found Bitcoin, maybe if I trace back it took 1-2 days, if the year maybe remember, around 2016.

What were your initial thoughts?
I was thinking at that time, how to find as many Bitcoins as possible.

Did you think negatively of it at first discovery and change your mind, or did you always think it was a great idea?
Negative thinking of course, feels like believe it or not, but my mind changed after accepting the fact that Bitcoin is an asset and real in fiat form, Of course, one year later the idea arose that Bitcoin could be the dream of everyone in this world, to increase assets in the form of trading and investment, I have to do something for the future.

I have never forgotten the day I discovered bitcoin. Because during that time I'm just a normal student struggling financially to support my studies and daily needs. I remember I was too broke and was looking for an online jobs where I can earn even a small amount of profit. And then discovered a friend of mine was doing this bitcoin stuff that allows him to become financially stable. And so I ask him to teach me, and the story starts there. So basically, I discovered bitcoin because of only wanting to support my financial needs.

And then, I think 6 months after knowing and being familiar to bitcoin and crytocurrency, I was able to support my self financially. So yeah, bitcoin changed my life, and I owe everything I own now to bitcoin. I always knew that bitcoin is something that is why I will always be here.

I discovered Bitcoin thru my friend last 2017. He introduced me to this forum and I created an account. I have no idea about Bitcoin at that time whatsoever but he said that I can get information here so I created an account, did spend some time reading some long posts that really helped me and aside from that I did some thorough research on the internet. I'm spending hours watching documentaries regarding Bitcoin etc.

Initial thoughts?? Hmmmm, it didn't came to a point that I thought that Bitcoin is a scam. I just think at that time is that Bitcoin = money that is why I learned about it at least the basics so that there is somebody that will guide me.

Like I said, I didn't think that Bitcoin is a scam or any negative thoughts about it. I just know that it is money that is why I tried to learn it. Learned something through the years and now here I am holding some Bitcoin (though it wasn't that huge). Still grateful for my friend and for all the users who are helping other users :).

I have somewhat the same problem with the op by not being able to remember when or how I really did discover crypto currencies. One thing I do remember though is that I had strong negative thoughts about it because I heard it was being used by criminals and was in a way against the government. Which js what you would expect for someone who doesn't know anything about bitcoin yet specially techy stuff. But I also remember that what truly made me know of crypto currencies is my friend and that Is when I really started reading more and understanding more about bitcoin and other altcoins. An estimation I have for when I discovered bitcoin is within 2014-2015. While this about this forum late 2016 maybe.

and finally early 2018, the first bitcoin asset that I kept till this year. because of a need, I finally had to let it go.

I can't really say how I discovered bitcoin but I know bitcoin has been very popular before I queued in by late 2019. The news of bitcoin investment I hear in radio advertisement and social media. Especially during Covid-19 lock down, people will say that even if they are locking down that they are still earning with bitcoin. Those were some good lines that made me to give bitcoin a trial.
Meanwhile I have already known that bitcoin is not a scam as other people may think. My problem was that I didn't have the opportunity to invest in bitcoin as of that time.

My mentality was that if bitcoin is a good investment it should not be a rush, that it should still be available in many years to come, that was what delayed me joining the bitcoin bandwagon.

Everything started when im trying to find out for some online jobs and on the time i do browse out some jobs there are options which do really shows up on paying some Bitcoin which did really poke up my interest.

It might not really be that rampant on that time but luckily i was able to browse and able to see it for myself and this is how my curiosity sparks up and did make out some research afterwards.
On the time i discover on what it is all about then thats the time i do start up my crypto journey. Remembering myself get attached with lots of hyips and ponzis in the past which is something
that really popular.

And it will hard for them to say they know bitcoin from the forum and through some one description. Myself i have the data of when i know bitcoin and when i make my first buy of bitcoin. I heard about bitcoin back in 2013/2014 when searching for ways to make money online on YouTube. I came across a video that talked about mining bitcoin. Can't remember the exact video. But I bought a few USB ant miners to learn and found out fast that it wasn't really profitable but it taught me how to mine. So I learned how to mine with GPU's and eventually started mining alt coins to sell for Bitcoin.

I remember that I watched YouTube video about different kinds of know-how, and one of them was about financial know-how, it was still 2014, as far as I remember, and I was very interested this. Since then, I began to look for information about this, and after a while I found this forum.

Most of all, I was attracted by the information that bitcoin can be used even without resorting to the services of banks, and, of course, it said that its price had increased by several thousand percent. Probably, if this had not been said, then perhaps I would not have delved into this topic so seriously.

You are lucky enough to have known bitcoin for almost a long time, whereas I personally only got to know bitcoin around 2017 when my friend first introduced this forum to me, indeed before 2017 bitcoin has grown rapidly and I think many people have get to know bitcoin or crypto through social media platforms, but unfortunately we are just got to know the internet when the internet network began to enter my village which is far from the city, although it's late but I don't regret it because at least I'm still luckier than people who don't know what bitcoin or crypto right now.

Means you have quite a long experience in bitcoin. Because that means you started to dive into the world of bitcoin in 2017. And indeed 2017 was the time when bitcoin got a lot of attention at that time.
Because In 2017, bitcoin price was around USD 1,000 until it broke USD 2,000 in mid-May, then skyrocketed to USD 19,345.49.
On December 15th, investors, governments, economists, scientists, and other entities began developing new cryptocurrencies to compete with Bitcoin.

You are not sure that Bitcoin could be exchange in Dollar? that was 2017 and bitcoin already have value about more than 10,000 dollars so I don't know what you are saying here that you don't know if this is tradable .

maybe what you are saying is how you can accumulate Bitcoin to earn.

first time hearing about it was when my gf was trying to buy some to fuel her drug addiction by buying drugs off the silk road back in 2013. God damned I wish I would have let her buy some. Although we prob would have lost the private keys by now.

I then heard about it in 2015 when my room mate at the time was like dude..... what if we could make money by mining bitcoin? We almos decided to do it... my god...... I wish we did. We though mining THEN was hard.... uhg...

Not once did I think the price fluctuated. I thought it was at a fixed rate. in 2013 I didn't look into the price, in 2015 saw the price and was like okay... so at this price it will take X ammount of years to brake even. .... >_< Because you know, thought it didn't move up or down.....

I found out the price fluctuated when a family member bought some bitcoin back in 2017 - 2018 and it dumped. I was loling thinking he bought at the top and sold at the bottom. I thought it was a bubble that would never recover.

Only in 2019 early 2020 did I finally buy some.... only like .... some.... 100 bucks worth which I thought was a lot to be spending on something so "risky" FML!!!!! >_> Like omg.... uhg... It was on Robinhood so I never actually "owned" my own btc.

It wasn't until early 2021 when it started rising did I put more thought into it and started buying. And have been buying ever sense. I realized bitcoin is supposed to be private and buying on an exchange is contrary to what it was designed for. So the btc I got from coinbase I ... anonymized.... it and only started buying from ATMs that let you use a burner number with no ID.

you know the greatest thing about buying non-KYC bitcoin? It's much harder to sell. so when it went from the high 60s and crashed. Having it on a private cold storage wallet meant I couldn't really do a lot in terms of selling, and since it was around the bottom for awhile I was like well fuck it, I couldn't sell in time, so might as well buy more to hopefully lower my cost basis in case it goes up again.

So here I am. over a year later, the inability to sell at certain times was a blessing and now I think I'm a true hodler.

Thanks to the meme videos "buy the dip" that taught me the importance of never selling your bitcoin!!! ^_^

I don't remember the exact year when i found about Bitcoins, but yes it was before 2015, Bitcoin was around 400-500$ as far as i remember.
So basically i just googled, how to make money online, and there were some youtube videos demonstrating about some sort of BTC .
I got interest on it and basically in one day i did a whole research on how to make money with Bitcoins.
I also remember before trading cryptos, i was into gambling BTC, i thought that's the only way of Earning Bitcoins.
I used to play at Bitsler and PD at the initial days, and tried to collect at least 1 Bitcoins, so that i can cash it out and use in buying some Gaming consoles.

You're ahead for almost 2 years in my case where I discover and met bitcoin, I wish I had also that curiousity way back that time because I can say that a bitcoin price ranges $400-$500 I can afford to buy it at this price not like where 2017 it is much more than a thousand dollar value. In my case, I knew about bitcoin because my friend introduced it to me and at that time I am not active in investing and trading instead I am an active bounty hunter but since then I have learned about bitcoin deeper I gained interest in trading and investment too.

When I started investing in Bitcoin it wasn’t because of the technology behind it, and funny enough I never knew the difference between blockchain and Bitcoin. I thought that blockchain was another name for Bitcoin, so sometimes I usually make the mistake of calling Bitcoin blockchain. And my first investment in Bitcoin was $15, and then the price was around 100 bucks.

But, as time goes on I started to learn that blockchain was just a technology on its own that powers Bitcoin. While Bitcoin is the currency. So, I wouldn’t say that blockchain is the reason I started investing in Bitcoin, I started investing in Bitcoin because of Bitcoin itself and not for any other reason.

A lot of people mention PTC sites, and various of scams that had popped up during that era. I'd also like to add, possibly one of the first experiences with cryptocurrencies, a cloud mining Ponzi, named Coinintellect, if I'm not mistaken. It supposedly a free plan, but required you to upgrade after one or two payouts.

I actually received both payments, the second one was almost lost, because they went bankrupt, so instead of BTC or PayPal payment, they paid via Dogecoin. The payout was valued a mere $5 payment, which back then, was 30.000 Doge. Stupid me sold them, I'd have a decent amount of money if I hadn't.

I got to know about Bitcoin while looking for a means to make income online. That was some years back, and it was in 2014 when I was searching online to find a job which I’ve been doing with my computer while at home. So, while I was making the research I got to a platform where they happened to offer me a job, so the payment methods that were listed for me to be able to receive my payment, there was Bitcoin listed on it.

But, it was something new for me so I never heard about it, I decided to make a research on Google about the word Bitcoin. That was how I got to learn a lot about it, it was something that I did for myself, and so far it has really been helpful to me. If I never knew about Bitcoin, Probably my life wouldn’t has been as it is now, because it really changed my life.

A very long time ago, PTC sites gave a lot of profit. When the price of Bitcoin was low, PTC sites would give satoshi and they were a means of earning for low income people. You do not have to deposit to earn on these sites.

But later some people started ponzi scheme business behind the name of PTC. They have snatched huge amount of money from foolish people in the name of revenue share. These were not actually PTCs, these were ponzi schemes.

Not quite exactly, PTC sites and faucets are paying the exact, or at least close, to what they were paying back then, but in terms of value. PTC sites would usually pay 1/10 of a cent, up to a single or two cents at maximum. In the past, those cents were the equivalent of a few hundred Satoshi, nowadays, you'd get 2-3 Satoshi at best.

For instance, Freebitco.in, probably the oldest still operational faucet, is currently paying a minimum 0.00000002 BTC per roll. A few years ago, I remember it paid a minimum of 800-1000 Satoshi per roll. Their value however was almost identical to what it is now. I was on the lucky side, since some of the BTC I had acquired through faucets was kept for quite a few years, and sold when BTC was actually worth something.

A lot of people mention PTC sites, and various of scams that had popped up during that era. I'd also like to add, possibly one of the first experiences with cryptocurrencies, a cloud mining Ponzi, named Coinintellect, if I'm not mistaken. It supposedly a free plan, but required you to upgrade after one or two payouts.

man I felt very depressed just remembering the past when I was scammed by these PTC site scammers. I still remember the probox site where I earned more than 50$ a day all thanks to my pocket money, I invested in that scam site because I didn't know it was a ponzi scheme, I thought they were an advertising company, but I was mistaken. after months i found out that paypal had frozen their account because it accused them of being a ponzi scheme, gustavo gil peron (the scammer owner of the site) always came up with some excuse to continue to deceive people, i started to know about bitcoin because we ptc sites no longer accept paypal and they had added bitcoin so I wanted to know what bitcoin was to also use. that's when i started to know more about ponzi scheme and stopped using ptc sites.

first I found out about bitcoin in 2017 through my sister, and at that time my sister said if you want to add money you can join the bounty project by creating a bitcointalk account and I created an account then I joined the project on bitcoin talk and at that time I wasn't sure I would make money but when the project was completed and the token distribution I was surprised that it could actually generate dollars.

Bitcoin is a great asset if I must write cause it has affect do many lives positively and had changed the lives of people that embraced it. Even though I discovered Bitcoin most recently, I vividly know that there is so much to benefit from it and soon I will become one of those people that Bitcoin had changed their lives.

When I heard about Bitcoin, there was so many positive comments about it. I could remember I bought it then but I selfishly lost almost all of my assets because of ignorance of the market. I tried to trade it to make more money but I was wrong cause my little knowledge about the market affected my thinking faculty and I lost almost all my holdings.

In 2013 and even if I'm not complaining I still feel I've been late to the party. If I only knew in 2009 the fun would have been so much greater, but it's still fine how it is. It's still not clear to me how I haven't found about it earlier since I'm an avid internet user. I suppose some things happen for a reason.

I believe mine was back in 2015 by a friend who wanted me to invest in some new online coin which he had already invested in some other once along with Bitcoin and even though I did invest some little amount then, I really didn't take it seriously too until 2017 shortly before the bull market I had to reaccess my wallet and started taking it seriously till date.

wow you really have a long experience about bitcoin. and I think it's a valuable experience.

I myself in 2009 or 2010 or 2011 was still actively looking for change on the internet by managing a blog or playing pay per click. and whether in the following year or in what year I forget. there was once a Pay To click that was rewarded with bitcoins per click. and stupidly I did not trace what bitcoin is and have potential or not. i just missed it. and maybe I've exchanged bitcoin for a few dollars.
and I took a long break from the internet. but in 2017 or maybe 2018 I heard the term bitcoin again when I was accidentally on social media. and how surprised I was at the price of bitcoin at that time.

The first time I heard Bitcoin was the end of 2013 when there was a significant surge in price and a lot of economic and business news that provided information about Bitcoin, and the thing that made me interested was when there was a reporter interview with Bitcoin Miner and explained in detail about how Bitcoin worked, This increasingly makes me interested and read many online articles about Bitcoin.

Unfortunately that's the reason why people fell for scam ponzi websites, because they make it look like it's not a ponzi at all. If it was so easy and they started a website called ponzi.com then everyone would be able to tell it from a mile away, but when you are not doing that and when they actually start to pay, people think that it's not a ponzi since it's paying.

It only turns out to be an obvious ponzi when they realize they can't pay anymore and the whole thing crashes, until that moment there is really nothing that could make you aware that it's a ponzi. I ended up getting none of that, I didn't invest into any ponzi, but not because I was clever, but because I just got into crypto to hold long term.

That is a long time ago. But you have not told us how you discovered it, you only told us when you discovered it but yet it is not certain.  The how is still missing so we are also still waiting for the how. Discovering bitcoin is not an easy as task for me. Remember there is different between DISCOVERED something and KNOWN something. To Discover something means, you have to make research and found out new things for the first time. Satoshi Discovered Bitcoin in October 13, 2008. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wsj.com/amp/articles/who-is-bitcoin-creator-satoshi-nakamoto-what-we-knowand-dont-know-11638020231 so you have not Discovered bitcoin but you have known bitcoin.

To KNOW something means, to understand, be awared of something. Although, they have similarities but they are different concepts. All the users of bitcoin are the category of knowing not Discovered.
As for me, I have not even known bitcoin. I am still struggling to know Bitcoin but I have heard the name but not yet know. I am still learning to know. And I am eager to learn and know it.

I heard about bitcoin in the year 2015 in a seminar. How did I hear it. It was from a seminar that I attended and the instructor said, it is an online investment platform that grows you capital by Trading.

Many people has showed more interest on bitcoin because is a digital currency that can be easily to convert to dollars to purchase what ever you want to purchase in the country. Bitcoin has brought more development to the world to eliminate errors from both domestic and international transaction. This is the reason why many countries will continue to legalized bitcoin in their various countries to help their citizens to grow higher in their businesses in the land.

This story is familiar. Many people explains that they knew bitcoin earlier than the actual time that they joined. It didn't catch your attention because bitcoin that time was less known. Like you, it was also my friend that opened a topic about bitcoin. I then research it and I joined this forum to learn more about bitcoin and stuffs. The year 2017 is the very peak of bitcoin because its identity is now slowly known to the public. That helped the price to rise and resulted for a new all time high.

The moment knew that bitcoin is a valuable coin, we will then regret that we didn't joined it immediately, the moment we first heard it. 2017 is still an early year, you have an advantage if you obtain more btc and hodl them till now.

This is a good thread, if people are honest and honestly speak the truth about when and how they know about Bitcoin for the first time that can lead to know the truth about those Bitcoin Gremlins who think they have created Bitcoin by themselves. They must speak the truth about their first encounter with Bitcoin.

For myself, I created the word Bitcoin in December 2006. There after I wrote the Bitcoin White Paper and then created the Bitcoin@bitcoin Twitter Account in April 2007. ^ How sad that this is now what people think of BTC, to store value, not making it as a currency which is the creator want, it is a peer-to-peer transaction that could alternative fiat. Probably because most people know BTC because they want to profit, they don't know what the real use of this cryptocurrency is, as long as they will earn money, it is good for them. Back in 2016, I discovered BTC and I know BTC has the potential to grow but the problem here is I don't even accumulate any single number of BTC in my whole life.

I first learned about bitcoin on websites like YouTube and Facebook, but I can't recall when. So there was a point when I was looking for a job or even a part-time job, and I was doing some research on how to make money that was easy and profitable, and then I came across bitcoin, where you could invest and earn a lot of money. When it comes to bitcoin, there are several advantages; all you need is patience and a basic understanding of how it works.
It is also important that you know some tips or strategy if you want to make a good profit, one thing that I learn from other bitcoiners is they always say" BUY LOW SELL HIGH". It is very simple yet helpful ;)

Yeah, quite sad to know people understand BTC for earning money only. They are not trying to learn what BTC real is, and what the original purpose is. We can't blame them to focus on investment, there is nothing wrong with this. Especially, in some countries, BTC can't be used as a currency (payment tool), it is allowed for a digital investment only. However, as a good BTC user, learning deeply about BTC is needed.

I started playing with Bitcoin a few years ago because I was fed up with PayPal's unfair policies. And after a while, I got more intrigued and discovered that others have been creating applications, and this unleashed an inflow of ideas. At the same time, I was somehow fascinated with the whole concept of distributed ledger as it was shown by the people who were involved in the Bitcoin project. It's a total game changer for a lot of things.

Unfortunately there will be plenty of people who came in a little too late which is why there will be pleenty of people who claim they are saothsi like this. The reality is that anyone who claims they are satoshi, needs nothing too big to prove it. Just sign a message from satoshis' address and you are done, it is literally a 1 minute job and nothing more.

Anyone who doesn't do that? Not satoshi in my mind. You could maybe trolling, or you could be serious about this, whatever you want to call it, but I am 100% guaranteed to not believe anyone who doesn't sign a message from satoshi himself, it needs to be done in order to convince me.

This is very shocking but you won't believe this. My first of discovering about bitcoin was same day i joined the forum and due to my career I pays less attention to the forum and then i never knew one could even enrolled in anything called promotion or to start earning. It was after a year interval I started noticing that many people have been talking about bitcoin then I recalled back there's something called "bitcointalk" so I started paying interest and digging out lots of things from the forum. Though someone who thought me about the forum couldn't give me a clear vision of about bitcoin and the forum but I made sure get some lesson from and around here.
That was when I began to hear about wallet an types of wallet, sincerely speaking it was very strange to me and I was like out of the world so I was eager to know and to learn mostly about privacy, security also know the kind of sites I should click before getting trapped.

Well to say it all, I m very happy to know about bitcoin today as it has really change my way of living, learning and research since this forum carry lots of information about bitcoin even more to google. I don't google any information about Bitcoin but i come here directly to search around the forum and so kindly I will find my answers either from reputable members or from their past post.

I m really Grateful to know about Bitcoin today.

I discovered about Bitcoin from a colleague. He told me how he profited from it in just a short period. Through my curiosity, I searched everything about Bitcoin to know how it works and what's its purpose. I have also learned that it's a risky investment and the price can change anytime. I was afraid and hesitant to invest so I turned my back on it until I've seen Bitcoin in the mainstream. I was so regretful because I missed the chance of investing in it. Now, I have learned the importance of Bitcoin investment and already allocating funds for it.

I had only heard of bitcoin till 2017. But when a friend of mine was planning to put his money in Ripple, I researched more about cryptocurrencies and that’s when I got to know some details about bitcoin. Bitcoin was at around $1500 when I started keeping an eye on it.

2018, I think. I heard news about Bitcoin as it's used for illegal activities like terrorism, money laundering etc. So I searched and learned about it on YouTube and Google, then I found more and l'am curious too. Then one of my friends recommended this bitcoin talk platform.

The only person i will say that discover Bitcoin is Satoshi Nakamoto and it's group and after eventing bitcoin the rest persons notice what is bitcoin because it has being created before now. Because when i discovered what is bitcoin according to normal usage of words everybody use. I believe that knowing of what is bitcoin this present time is not longer hard because of internet advertisement

I made my first move to bitcoin when it cost about ~$600. I even downloaded wallet, I think it was electrum, I don't remember exactly. But I didn't go further than this and didn't buy btc, because I had no idea how it was and where to buy it. It is now that many in the signature can get the answer to these sharp questions of beginners, but then it seemed to me extremely difficult and I abandoned this matter. Although before these events, I also periodically heard news about bitcoin in the background, more than once and every time I had the thought that it was too late to get into this niche. Even during the hype of 2017, it seemed that now it was definitely too late to invest in btc. But as time has shown, I was wrong.

Im pretty sure I saw Bitcoin mentioned in Slashdot back in 2012, so the price must have been potentially less than $1. I guess it was about a new version going out, 0.something. Satoshi was still around uploading them.

Of course, I was just lazy-scrolling down and completely ignored it. I try not to think about that since it's a nice one way ticket to insanity if you start making numbers and thinking how uber rich one would be now if you just mined for a while.

Mine would be around 2016 with the same reason, I was curious about Silk Road first and then the people covering the topic keep mentioning bitcoin so I got curious and that's when I started reading about bitcoin although my fascination at that time was the enigmatic creator so I don't dived too deep in technicals, I was an 7th or 8th student at that time so all I care much about back then is playing games with my friends.
