Title: OPERATION: What is Bitcoin? - A Massive Bitcoin Twitter Campaign

Let's put Bitcoin in the limelight. I don't know who made the image above but I thank them.

http://feedzebirds.com/0whvu - Basically this allows us to fund followers in the thousands using Bitcoin. (See: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=53429.0)

I've seeded it with 1 BTC to start which should be appearing momentarily.

Godspeed.

Godspeed.

How fast is that exactly? As fast as the spread of literacy during the dark ages? Hopefully twitter can manage better than that!?
Nice campaign though.

It's been exciting for me to see FeedZeBirds used both for commercial and non-profit messages.

Maybe I should call it a "speech platform" instead of an advertising platform =)

It offers as much anonymity as you want. If you can hide the Bitcoin purchase, you can hide everything.

Bitcoin offers only limited anonymity.

Yet people who stole from Allinvain, MtGox, MyBitcoin, and Bitcoin7 are still totally anonymous.

Alright, the campaign died so I filled it up with 4 Bitcoins. That's all I had left in my luxury account. I would prefer others to pitch in to keep this going indefinitely.

My only concern with this is that I suspect anyone with a twitter account who knows about bitcoin has likely already informed their followers to the point that they are sick of hearing about it.

Harvey it looks like the FeedZeBirds campaign is "off"?  Did you put it on pause or did it turn off when it ran out of funds?

Just log in and click "on" to fix it =)

Heh, I don't mean to hold the money hostage. One sec.

UPDATE: Yep, I'm going to have to activate it when I get home; Twitter is blocked where I am. It switched off when it ran out of funds again.

Why did you not post this under one of your many existing aliases, Atlas?

I think one day the operators of this site will realize that letting you have a dozen different accounts is probably undermining the perception of bitcoins to visitors.

Atlas may act under new identities but he has never done it out of fraudulent indent. If anything, I think it only gives a perception of choice. It reminds us that Bitcoin is of good and healthy esteem and it doesn't rely on conformity.

We don't need the illusion of a collective; Bitcoin acts over the choices of individuals. To people who hold this forum and Bitcoin as a whole responsible and damaged due to the choices and preferences of individuals would be a grave mistake. If anything, a loss for the individual who makes such a false judgement.

I encourage Atlas to remain himself and continue to act under his own preference. He has never harmed nor defrauded another man and certainly holds no power over the esteem of the forum and Bitcoin as a whole.

You're just waiting for a big enough reason to  cash in your "moral code".  I doubt it would even take 100 bitcoins for you to vanish with the money.  $300 is a lot for a kid in highschool.

I am willing to bet all I have that Atlas wouldn't stand under any amount of money to compromise his moral preferences. He doesn't even claim to stand under any major law nor code but only his individual choice to prefer life. To me that is a man of true integrity. He respects people out of the inherit value they bring him which goes far deeper than intrinsic materials such as money.

He is not forced to act the way he is under insipid desires, a god or law: He chooses to love life.

Why are you referring to yourself in the third person?  Is it because you want it to sound like someone else is complimenting you?

Um, excuse me? all OTHER instances aside, here, all he did was set something up on ANOTHER service, THAT SERVICE is collecting money only from those who believe it's a good cause, and that service gives money to OTHER people. He gets involved in a lot of projects. That's a good thing. In general the things for which he requests donations are worthy and relevant to people. I don't see the problem.

But here he is not in control of the money. At most he is in control of an idea. If you don't like the idea, don't support it. Those who do will (for the record, I don't). It's as if your dislike for him is so extreme, you don't even think about it any more, and just reach the same exact conclusions every time on autopilot.

I have an idea! I'm going to make a portable card-reader for bitcoin. You should send this collection service bitcoins for this idea, and they'll forward it along to the idea-creator. Don't worry, it's all going to the idea.

While Atlas has failed in many endeavors, making an ad campaign on feedzebirds cannot possibly fail, and might even have an effect.  He actually went and did something, and nobody should point and laugh at him for doing so.

I've failed? Interesting. I don't recall ever costing anybody anything nor significantly sacrificing on my part.

Sure, I didn't complete what I had intended in many cases; I do that daily. I never consider it failure. I consider it life. Failure to me is true loss and that has yet to be seen.

FeedZeBirds runs on Bitcoin and anyone can place an ad campaign there. What's so special about the tweet Atlas wrote?

I took the initiative to invest 5 Bitcoins in the campaign and solicit over 15 Bitcoins in donations from the forum. I solicited 4chan and other corners of the web to get various tweeters. Mind you, nobody had done a campaign like this before.

I think I did a mighty fine job. I'm proud of the value that I am creating.

Well, the problem is that you never follow through on any projects you propose.  I see that as failure when you do it more than 10 times and just sit on your ass the whole time.

Thanks for actually doing something this time, though :)

I do follow through on some projects. I may do it half-way most of time but I still gain knowledge and experience. I hate to make excuses but I live a pretty painful life. My depression and anxiety don't treat me too kindly. I am proud of the efforts I sustain regardless of the milestones they reach.

What use is knowledge and experience if, in your parlance, they aren't put to use by creating value for people?
I'm all for learning from mistakes, but when you've tried 10 times and succeeded 0 times, that's a problem.

They are of use to me and my friends gain value from seeing me make efforts and building myself. The value may not be tangible to you but that's hardly an issue on my end.

In addition, I've succeeded every time. I was living, perceiving and acting within my nature. I can do no better than act within my nature. That is a sentient being's only duty. It's success all around in my eyes. I see no problem.

My efforts will grow all in good time. I am not worried.

i love hearing kids suffering from depression - get off your lazy ass and go play outside, better yet join some bootcamp type of  physical activity. it's the best medicine from melancholy and depression. stop pitying yourself like there's nothing you can do about it unless you are a disabled person.  and yeah constantly hyping expectations on new initiatives without delivery is equal to failure even if you don't think so people will stop taking you seriously.

good luck!

I do follow through on some projects. I may do it half-way most of time but I still gain knowledge and experience.

That means you failed.  But that's ok, because failure is part of life.  It's the folks who constantly try to redefine success so it applies to them that make nothing of their lives.
