With my experience of being in crypto for the last 7years, Altcoins are like a Fad diet. They go up with some trendy news and then go back down before the bagholders can sell in profit and then go stagnant for the next several years till the developers abandon it or sell it off to some other shady company, only to be never heard of again. Agree, that some project have done really well but 99% of them ends up like this.

Just because something is in the news, does not mean it will be huge in future. Most of the traders here lack the technical knowledge on how to assess a project's future risk and outcome. That if done properly, you will see that any crypto based project will fail in front of its mainstream counterpart.

You must not do that. The news will remain in short term but this is quite different when it comes to the long term. I think that you didn't know when exactly the trend will be changed and this means if you are following the trend after this trend already booming and you may buy your coin at peak price and you will be in result to get a huge loss. Don't change your coins because the coin you know is trending because you will only lose the total value of your coins. First, exchange fee is first one and second is the transaction fee when you sell your coin and buy the coin that is trending. Getting on a news doesn't mean you are going to invest with them, its still better to have your own analysis because not all news are good and not a good signal to buy, some of them are paid advertisements especially the articles about a specific altcoin. If I’m going to invest, I still need to look for the project itself before buying.

I don't think if that is good idea because as my experienced most of the hyped coins that I invested before will go dump, it's just temporary. I don't follow news trend for one bit, mostly prefer price actions of the market. Trends can liquidate your trading account if not taken carefully, but the price actions of coins is more like following the chart patterns of the coin. Alt coins massively perform price actions steadily and once they move in a bullish movement, alot of Profits are generated. Big whales in the space like Elon Musk, who would quote about a coin, before you know it, the coin has pumped, then when you decide to join the bullish movement of the coin, it will dump on you.

It will be exhausting to keep up because there are always new alts projects out in the market and you will end up constantly changing your portfolio which can be dangerous to your investment. Imo, I don't think it is wise to invest in every alts on the news.
