Title: Do you spend crypto? If yes, for what?
Post by: pateo9 on March 22, 2022, 11:25:20 AM
Here's a question to the audience. Do you actually buy stuff with crypto, like services or goods? If yes, what kind?

I've recently got a Binance card to play around with and use it to pay for everyday expenses. Works pretty well.

I've paid for app unclock using bitcoin cash and I've also bought VPN service with LTC before, crypto payment options are now getting popular right beside MasterCard payment options, I've not seen or pay with my wallet offline before like in the real world only online.

Right, I forgot that I paid for a VPN as well. Also for some IP tv service I've used for a while. Bit, like you, haven't paid for anything in the "real" world.

When it's a talk about spending, i'm much more holder than one who's gonna spend. Think that holding token is very important and crucial when it comes to expanding the community and project, so better trying to earn some especially by p2e gaming, investing some time with MANA ofc, and then started with Sandbox and following new games to came which besides Illuvium, ENGN got my attention and looking sharp so far.

If only Binance card is applicable in our country maybe I spend some of my crypto for payment using that. But since its not, my tendency is to convert to fiat first from stablecoins then withdraw it to my bank and paid for goods or services. Actually its same but some country enjoy the perks of some good crypto card like crypto.com and binance card.

Where are you from? I've actually started this thread for professional reasons as I'm currently building a service that allows payment using crypto to other bank accounts, without the hassle of converting and withdrawing it on your own.

I do the same but only with a certain amount. That is sell only the amount that is needed for everyday expenses. And so try to do this less often because cryptocurrency is needed for many other opportunities. For example, you need another coin and with the help of swap it achieves the result. At this time think it is necessary to sell less and buy more.

I buy some stuff with crypto. Remember that so many services are starting to accept crypto. I bought some stuff from others used stable tokens and native coins like bitcoin or ethereum. I were also using service that can be paid used altcoins.

I have been using it as well and i have good experience with this one. I'm also still using card by cryptodotcom as well. Both are working perfectly for me. I never encounter any problem with both.

Likewise, I can only pay for a VPN using crypto, the rest is still difficult to buy goods with crypto because the law on buying goods with crypto is still not allowed except fiat.

But I don't buy physical goods but for internet needs, so I often buy with crypto, it's easy, but for a Binance card my area doesn't seem to cover it.

But I'm sure it will happen in the future.

I belong to India and I think we don't have the option to apply for the Binance card at the moment. If we get the chance or are allowed to have it I would definitely love to have it so that I can also use my crypto for the payments. Hope I will also use the card in the Future.

Wayback when steam is still accepting bitcoin for me to buy steam credits then i do actively make use of my coins because it is really just convenient for me to do so.

Also, i do make use of my local wallet which i could buy up mobile load but now i do realized that it was just a waste of coin for me to spend those in the past
but it was really a good experience but it do really missed out the chance for me to make good profits if i do able to hold it.

I want to believe the real purpose of this topic is to know the level of adoption or usage of crypto by the people in this forum. If it is so, it is actually a nice attempt. Before now, all I do is to convert crypto to fiat if I want to get goods or services. But recently I have started using crypto to make some purchases. I used crypto to pay for my vpn service, I use crypto to pay for Web services and I use crypto for casino gambling. This has made me limit how I convert crypto to fiat as I now see places I can spend my crypto.

Pre-2015, I used it several times to convert to and from other digital gateways like Skrill, Paypal and PM. Even after that, I used my coins to top up my mobile several times, still doing it sometimes. I also bought a hosting and some domain names from Namecheap and a lot more domain names from Porkbun both of which supports crypto. I have also bought some VCC, accounts and even game keys with crypto. I have minimized it now but am planning to get a new hosting, this time from hostinger.

I never really bothered with Binance card although people here are mentioning it quite frequently. I just usually stick to my own wallet in spending or buying stuffs online although it is a bit indirect method since I somehow convert it first to my local currency before dispatching a payment.

Good thing I don't encounter fees though, just a little bit of conversion fees lol.

I made small purchases with cryptocurrencies, but none of them were physical products. It can be useful for purchasing services, but we don't have much use in the real world yet, we can only buy things in a few countries or in a few stores.
I have not made such a shopping choice yet, not had such an opportunity :)

that was then when people castigates cryptocurrency adoptions and cryptocurrency payment, right now some do value cryptocurrency payment than fiat currency payment, i can attest to that, because people prefer making payments crypto because of it fastness during transaction procession.

Of course I used bitcoin to buy stuff that I need, in fact that is the main reason that brought me to this market in the first place, I have bought a bunch of software, books, video games and some other stuff with my bitcoin over the years.

Now some may argue that was a waste of money since that bitcoin would have been worth more money right now than what I paid for that stuff, but bitcoin needs to also be used and not only be stored away in a cold wallet, it needs to circulate and if you have a reason to use it then you should do so, after all what is the point of taking all of that money to your grave?

For crypto payments officially I may have never done it, but paying the proceeds from crypto and then cashing it out to fiat is something I often do. Maybe because there are no services that provide crypto payments in the country where I live. If so, can it be legalized, whereas fiat is the only legal payment in my country. Cryptocurrency for me is currently only a source of storage of value (bitcoin) and an investment alternative.

If really you do online shopping which normally required the country you are transacting with currency and the company due accept cryptocurrency and especially bitcoin, because of charge and procedures of Fiat currency you will prefer using bitcoin, so try to shop online and make payment with bitcoin, you will understand and also differentiate the difference between making payments with fiat and cryptocurrency.

I can't even if I wanted to. :) Cryptocurrencies are a powerful investment tool for me. I have a hard time seeing them as means of payment. :) I don't spend my cryptocurrencies until I reach my target selling price. Because I would feel really bad if the price went up after I spent it. I do not shop with my cryptocurrencies unless it is necessary. I do not shop with my cryptocurrencies until the target price I set to sell is met. :)

Though it can be used online, but physical stores are still accepting fiat only. However, no worries for me, crypto will be more valuable having it as an investment only.

I've spend it for online shopping. As long as there's a third party service that can convert crypto for those purchases, I'd do that. It's not my entire holdings that I'll spend for it.
But only a couple of funds that I may seem think that's going to be enough to purchase for those items that I'd like to have. Been doing that for years and enjoying it a lot.

I tried to buy something before using my cryptocurrency but right now I decided now to buy anything because of the rising value of cryptocurrency, so its more of an investment now than a currency. We know that cryptocurrency has been a store of value to many and very few who really use cryptocurrency to buy things. I just can’t see my total cost of buying a simple bag after 1 month because for sure, the value will increase more same thing with the cost.

I feel I ever read a thread that has a similar question like this, previously.  :-\

FYI, it isn't allowed to use crypto for payment purposes in my country. So, I never used crypto coins to pay for both services or goods. I only use crypto coins for digital assets, it is legal in my country. Very sad that the use of crypto is limited for investment only, but at least we still have an opportunity to use crypto coins. Certainly, I will use crypto coins for services or goods when it is legal for payment tools someday.

I haven't purchase any stuff with my crypto, but I have been using it for years to pay my some of my bills like:

(a) internet connection
(b) credit card
(c) electric consumption

So that's a lot of thing for me, just glad that we have services in our local crypto exchanges that support this and many more like phone load and other stuff. But I will glad to spend my crypto if there is some local merchants that will accept it.

If my memory serves me right, I used my bitcoin to purchase a laptop in 2018, and then some gadgets for my kids as well, but this is p2p, from a person that I know of. But still, I consider it as an accomplished already to try and used it to buy stuff for me and my family. Of course, I didn't regret any of that, although others will argue that it's better to hold bitcoin because the price is going to moonshot in years and it did happen. But I treat it like currency so that is fine with me.

I haven't yet, I usually exchanged my crypto to fiat via P2P thereafter pay for any goods and services, however I am trying to utilize this opportunity of payment using crypto although in my country payment for goods and services via crypto is not allowed yet due to government non recognition of cryptocurrencies, I will test this option of buying of foreign goods using Binance card after requesting for the card, I hope someday the government of my home country will allow and adopt cryptos for payment of goods and services.

I spend them well when buying online because there is this local store like Amazon in our country accepting cryptocurrency payment and to support it, I always choose crypto payment when I want to buy something from that online store. I also use it to buy some items in the online games I'm playing back then but most of the time I use it to buy at the store I said earlier. What gambling platform do you use very often at the moment ? because using crypto by making it into fiat is something that is very commonly done by some people who have been in crypto for a long time even though they are not always active in gambling platforms or the like.

My country still not allowed for using bitcoin as currency payment just stuck with investment or trading assets only so far, but still have good respond with allowed using bitcoin or cryptocurrency as legal for trading or investing. Except cryptocurrency still not allowed as currency payment I think not have to care because bitcoin and altcoin as investment assets and trading way for me how to earn profit in daily day or long term day. Have bad thing if allowed or become legal payment currency with tax paying on each transaction making.

I usually use my coins for international settlement or remittance. My bank restricts how much dollars you can spend on your card per month, and it's a useless cap, the only way I get to send cash over to a relative abroad is via Crypto, while they covert it to fiat there, I basically don't have fiat in my bank account anymore. As a former bank worker, my former colleagues think am jobless since no cash in my bank account.

I haven't got an opportunity to spend crypto for a product yet. Maybe in the future it will be possible to do it in my country. Cryptocurrency regulation in India might happen this year and after that many new projects would pop up offering service and product for cryptocurrency. At the moment I have to use fiat to buy anything in my country. I know that there are a few services that I can purchase from global vendors but at the moment I do not require those.

So far, I may only buy hosting and domain using crypto, some things also like other digital equipment or services I do with crypto because it's easier. The one I use the most is USDT, because I feel that it is a versatile coin, and is widely accepted on the sites I use. for physical goods, I've never done it because it's still illegal to make payment transactions in my country.

It's almost the same with my country where cryptocurrencies are also bought for investment and daily trading purposes in order to get profits with a certain target at any time even though it's not legal to buy goods or services through cryptocurrency, but if it's only for investment at your own risk, then it doesn't matter.

Yes, I have and still am specially nowadays when there are a wide variety of ways to spend your crypto easily! One is the binance card You mentioned, the binance pay, and app some apps that accepts crypto in paying for bills and other services that an average person may need or want. While I think it is a bit of a waste, it is actually a good contribution to this industry. And yes, I sometimes am left with no choice when sudden emergencies come one after another. Because sometimes, medical problems costs a lot specially here in my country and insurance alone plus your emergency funds won't be able to cover it.

I will not spend cryptocurrency to play games.
Especially if it's gambling, because it would be better used as an investment for large future savings than just playing games.
If it's to pay for it, I will also say no because it would violate the existing regulations in my country.
My country only allows cryptocurrency assets as commodity assets and is not legal to be used as a transaction to buy any goods because it must use this country's fiat.
Even if it were allowed it would be difficult to determine the value, it's better to keep it and keep watching it go up until we want to pull it all out.

but I can't deny that I bought a hard wallet using crypto money that I sent through my personal wallet

I need to exchange it to PHP first before I can use it.
We have Coins.ph as a local wallet/exchange. I use their service to pay my water, electricity, and other bills. There's no direct usage of cryptocurrency just yet but it could be exchanged instantly if you want to. Their only difference with an exchange is you don't need to wait for the order to be filled and the big gap of price difference in buying or selling. It's okay though, the service of paying everything online does help a lot especially in this pandemic where I avoid to go outside.

But i can't use any card to pay payment due to restriction from my country because if my own country don't accept crypto.

Using crypto directly to buy some items? Nahh I don't see any merchants near my place that are accepting crypto.
Converting my crypto into cash then that is what I'm using is what I'm doing right now.

I'm also thinking of asking some merchants in malls if they are accepting crypto as a payment. I thought about it years ago but because of the pandemic it got delayed. Hope I can do it at least this year. I'm just curious if how many stalls in the malls are accepting crypto or at least they know crypto. Anyway, I'm not using crypto to buy items but I'm converting my crypto and that is what I'm using for my monthly expenses.

I used BNB, TRON several times for mobile credit payment. Crypto are still not legal where I live so it's quite difficult to use them often, I can barely use my coins for other services. As I know, the government where I live is said to be drafting legal issues for crypto, I hope they will legalize it instead of banning it, if it gets banned this will be very bad for crypto users in my homeland.

I think it's too wasteful to spend the bitcoins I have the reason is the fees for bitcoin transactions are quite expensive.
In addition, to determine the price of an item with bitcoin is too difficult, it's better with real money right?
they won't change too fast, it will give us time to think about buying.
In addition, spending money with bitcoin I think will make us regret because bitcoin always grows well over time,
when we spend it we will not feel we have bitcoin when bitcoin is on the moon.

The only place where I spend crypto is at namecheap when I am buying domain and hosting. I like to be anonymous with my domain name purchases somehow. For everything else I use MasterCard™. I also use crypto to gamble but I don't count this as "spending". It is just gambling. I don't think crypto adoption is high enough yet. CC companies still rule this area.

The only thing I spend crypto on right now is digital stuff. Either games, or developers, designers and all those kind of stuff. Never bought anything physical with bitcoin so far, whatever I have spent it on was digital. Mainly hiring people to help me with some of my projects, none of which really succeeded to be honest but they are definitely things that I always hoped to do and I will keep doing that.

Next stop for me would be to build a whole directory of marketing, which will be a difficult task and will take at least 5-10 thousand dollars to build, but after it is built, it will be easier to keep it going. All of which will be paid with crypto if I can get that much money. From research to building to design, all will be paid in crypto.

I've recently got a Binance card to play around with and use it to pay for everyday expenses. Works pretty well.

As much as possible, I always pick to save my crypto but there are some instances where I leave with no choice but to use it for our daily necessities, especially during the pandemic where most transactions are being done online. There are stores and online shops in our country that accept Bitcoin but I don't do it often. However, it's too helpful during the lockdown days but since things are getting better now, I'm just holding and saving my Bitcoin.

It is mostly going to be digital actually, unless you did a little bit of conversion like I did and mentioned in here previously. I am curious if we were able to purchase Steam Credits directly with Bitcoin. I do not mind using third-party sites and not directly from Steam platform itself, but only if it has a good reviews.
I can only purchase one of those with a little bit of conversion which kinda sucks because of the fees.

All the time I make purchases with cryptocurrencies, whether it is payment for hosting, VPN, servers and other things. Let's not forget that cryptocurrency is not only a means for speculation and investment, it is first and foremost a digital currency. With cryptocurrency payment you can also not worry about anonymity, because you do not need to leave your credit/banking card details everywhere. For me this way of payment has much more positive sides than negative ones. Crypto adopsion is, among other things, the spread of cryptocurrency as a means of payment, if there is no development in this direction, cryptocurrency will not be valued so much.

Someday I will definitely do it because for now I only think realistically about Bitcoin being sacrificed for an item that will later pile up into garbage, so ideally I would prefer to save Bitcoin rather than spend on things that can still be reached with fiat. That's one of my strong reasons, although there may be an online store near me that accepts Bitcoin payments. But then again, as a holder, I would definitely think twice and weigh the advantages between Bitcoin and certain items. Is it worth spending when Bitcoin becomes increasingly scarce and expensive, while goods will get cheaper and replaced with newer versions?  :D

And yes, I have used Crypto to buy things one (not any card. Coins to buy things). I have mainly used it for paying for services that accepts crypto and to buy gift cards online. Fast, easy and without any problems. You can try bitrefil if you are looking for giftcards. A little bit expensive, but they are good. You will get your cards almost instantly.

Usually for purchasing domain and hosting accepted payment with using PayPal but right now with cryptocurrency most popular they have added several currency from bitcoin until eth, and bnb accepted for currency payment. I still not active for purchasing domain and hosting because I don't have enough skill with writing content and likely I use cryptocurrency as investment or trading only. still not allowed as legal payment in my country looks difficult for adopting bitcoin for daily day payment currency.

I do too and just like you buy goods from the profits I get from trading or investing in crypto,
that's true actually there are many ways to make a profit in crypto but it's not something easy because either when investing or trading it takes a lot of preparation,
besides that the risk is also big and when we make the wrong decision then we will lose money

Nope because in my place crypto is not mainstream yet so their adoption is pretty low, so right now I'm just using it as my investment and future saving because I saw from year to year crypto price always increasing although there's some correction happened. I would like to use my crypto for payment when I buy something like goods or even services.

I sometimes buy something by some stuff that used crypto as payment. I have also some crypto cards from some companies. Spending crypto become easier and easier these days caused by so many parties have been starting to support cryptocurrency as a payment system as well. This payment system is also very effective as long as that's using a scalable chain or asset.
Im also using crypto to pay the bill as well. Cryptocurrency makes everything become even easier.

I can only pay for a VPN using crypto, the rest is still difficult to buy goods with crypto because the law on buying goods with crypto is still not allowed except fiat.

But I don't buy physical goods but for internet needs, so I often buy with crypto, it's easy, but for a Binance card my area doesn't seem to cover it.

But I'm sure it will happen in the future.
Cryptos are labeled to as the internet of money so it makes sense if you have spent your crypto online by top upping digital services. Only El Salvador is the country that I know that allows direct purchase using a crypto.

You are unlucky if you are not from this country but don't be sad because I believe that other countries will soon follow that step.

For now, you can only transact online if you want to use your cryptos directly because there are now shops online that accepts crypto payments and you can buy different items not only vpn. I found out that binance is a visa card so I think you can use it to shop directly on stores that accepts visa. Also on atm with a visa sign on it.

Me too, instead of using bitcoin to buy a few things I will save bitcoin as much as I can. I think it would be quite wasteful to exchange bitcoins for items that will be replaced over time. The time will come when we look back at what we paid for those things in bitcoin. I think there will be regrets like when programmer Laszlo Hanyecz bought 2 pizzas for 10,000 Bitcoin in 2010.

Agree with what you said, for now it seems it's still not worth it to do this but this does not rule out the possibility for later until the time that I think is right for it.
Bitcoin's movement is still pretty good for now and I personally feel very sorry if I do exchange my valuable assets for goods that I can indeed get with fiat or paper money.
but I also don't deny I've tried to do that but only once and it's only limited to trying to buy using bitcoin :D

spending money in the crypto world is stupid, why? because it will make you fail to become a millionaire,
many people are born into millionaires because of crypto currency, that's why many people also believe in this future investment,

and if you are the other way around, of course it will make people also worry about you,
but if you have the right actions by having their own investment money, then that is something very good

Bitcoin is indeed the main product that is always liked by everyone every year, especially now the price is increasing so it will be very good for those who want to buy some before the price becomes more expensive.
And so far Bitcoin has also started to slowly improve again in the market, so it won't be wrong if you want to choose it now.

I usually spend crypto in a centralized wallet where they have mobile load and data services. So far, everything goes smoothly until now. On top of that, I did spend cryptocurrency for buying vitamins from a close friend of mine who likes to experience getting paid in crypto.

Maybe later on, I’ll start buying plane or fastcraft vessel tickets, accommodation, etc., on websites that accepts cryptocurrencies like Travala. But I would like to see myself buying a coffee with crypto one day.

The reason is that cryptocurrency has not been legalized in your country yet because the moment it's legalized in the country, many businessmen and women will begin to accept cryptocurrency as a payment in the city. Very soon, your government will make it legalized to all city to buy goods and services with cryptocurrency. Now that other countries that made cryptocurrency legalized in their countries are more doing well than those country who don't make it legalized in their country and they don't allow buyers and sellers to make use of the decentralized currency to purchase any items of their choice in the country.

Some people is having that mindset of holding bitcoin and spend an ordinary money, why some people does something like that is because they have noticed that bitcoin is asset be when hold for long run the values appreciates for the longer you hold why money value depreciates from the longer you hold, is nice to spend money and hold bitcoin, i have given you an authentic differentiation between holding bitcoin for long run and holding money for long run

I don't consider using bitcoin to buy petty things as rice and food stuffs because they are edible and will be eaten and excreted after some time but your btc is also gone and you don't have any memory of it. I believe changing it to cash will be fine. I prefer to buy things that can be remembered with bitcoin, things you can see, feel or touch. Bitcoin is very precious and has that kind of value.

There is a company selling books and you can pay crypto while paying for them. I use them online but it says online that they accept crypto in person as well. I have bought 4 books and one magazine from them so far and that seems like the most "frequent" thing that I do. Once I dealt with expedia and did my hotel reservation there, it wasn't frequent thing, just something I did a few years back, and that worked out well enough for me as well.

I also did a reservation with cancelling there as well, I paid in crypto, and they repaid me to my credit card and it was the same amount in dollars that I paid, bitcoin went lower so I was lucky, bought more btc thanks to that.

in your case it is only for friends, if you buy at a coffee shop, then it also cannot be done, yes it is interesting experience, I also spend crypto just to buy something like electronics,
yes only some of my investment, because I still invest in crypto

Cryptocurrency is highly liquid in my country and people believes cryptocurrency is better than fiat! There are many service providers accepting cryptocurrency!

Cryptocurrency can be used for different perposes such as charity. Cryptocurrency and NFT can help many people in the world and attract attention to many problems. It can be used for different reasons and to help people like this https://twitter.com/impactwomen_nft/status/1507444356386545669

Yes I buy something I like using my bitcoin/ crypto balance for my needs let me tell you a scenario
A friend of mine who will use bitcoin too and they have a small business then it's a big surprise at me that my Money is running out and can not sustain my daily needs like rice/ foods then I have an idea that what if I buy foods using my crypto and until now I used some of my btc to buy in my friends business.

I don't consider using bitcoin to buy petty things as rice and food stuffs because they are edible and will be eaten and excreted after some time but your BTC is also gone and you don't have any memory of it. I believe changing it to cash will be fine. I prefer to buy things that can be remembered with bitcoin, things you can see, feel, or touch. Bitcoin is very precious and has that kind of value.
.we are in a different situation my country is in the mode of recovery from the super typhoon last December. The government financial subsidy is not enough and for it's hard to get a regular job that's ill force my self to buy some foods using my btc in order to survive.
You are right too mate that converting your btc to cash and buy some things that can be used / preserve for a memory is a good idea.

Yes, it can, there are some charity programs that accept cryptocurrency. But in this case, we must be also very careful and wise enough in deciding which charity and be careful of every scammer that confess as charity team but in fact they are onlyscammers or thieves.

Here's a question to the audience. Do you actually buy stuff with crypto, like services or goods? If yes, what kind?

I've recently got a Binance card to play around with and use it to pay for everyday expenses. Works pretty well.
I do not have a binance card but I sometimes use crypto to buy some assets. Also, since most of my money are still in crypto, whenever I need money to buy something, like food, I will withdraw some, convert it to my fiat currency, and then use it to buy food.
I currently do no have lots of direct usage of crypto when it comes to buying goods and/or services. But I am looking forward into it.

I honestly cannot see the relevance of people's unity with NFT. In fact, I didn't even thought of that. How do you mean "unity" when it comes to NFT? Also, how can people achieve convenience and a simpler life because of NFT? Sorry but I cannot find the relevance  :-\

I have used binance card for nearly anything. I don't think i can in the future as taxing on it gets more and more difficult to report in the future where i live. It has been a fun ride though and very easy to use. I think i am moving to revolut now, as in withdrawing my fiat money that i get from selling cryptos to there.

They don't handle cryptos but it's a real bank and i don't get trouble with micro payment taxation.

Adoption isnt still available in every corners of the world which it isnt surprising that there would really be no available on using up directly with your crypto on buying something or getting some service etc.

Therefore, you wont really be having no options but to convert it to fiat first (which is mostly people been doing) before you could buy something that you wished for.
But in most cases on which people dont spend up their crypto because of the potential profits that it could give on future runs or long term thats why its unlikely to be used.

That only shows that you support more crypto over fiat because you said most of your money are now in crypto and you use more crypto for purchasing over fiat. Buying a universal gift card is a good way to spend our crypto directly without converting it first in fiat. I can do the same thing but the problem is I am living on a far area or an area that is away from the city and it will be hard for a delivery to reach our place.

This makes me discouraged to spend my crypto online to buy some stuffs but the thing that I do for now is to convert my cryptos to fiat using banks so that I have a money that I can spend in my local to buy any goods.

I made small purchases with cryptocurrencies, but none of them were physical products. It can be useful for purchasing services, but we don't have much use in the real world yet, we can only buy things in a few countries or in a few stores.
I have not made such a shopping choice yet, not had such an opportunity :)
In a world where crypto is not totally accepted as a currency, i find it more useful to simply use it as an investment rather than to use it in purchasing goods and services. Though some physical stores are accepting crypto, but most are still accepting fiat only. So if i have enough fiat to spend, then i don't prefer to spend my crypto instead. Besides, crypto is more profitable if you keep it as an investment, that is why i prefer not to spend it as much as i can.

I don't blame the answer you gave because it all started with trust between users because if the person receiving the payment doesn't know how to cash out cryptocurrency, then it's also natural to be rejected as in the example of traditional markets where the sellers are mostly old people who don't know Blockchain technology.
But if what you're talking about only happens with your own close friends, I think it's just a small example that's only for you and your friends.

I use crypto to make payments in 2019 when I was trying to build my website and it went really good, in 2020 I got myself a gaming console and the seller agreed on taking BTC as means of payment, the most important thing is sellers and store should be willing to accept crypto as means of payment.

It depends on where you live and if crypto isn't legal and is only allowed for investment I think most people will treat it as an investment instead of spending it and if they want to stick with it have to convert it to fiat.
but people will prefer to keep it and use fiat to buy anything because crypto will be more profitable if it is for investment or as a reserve fund if there is an urgent need.
It's different if the crypto situation is legalized because there will be many shops or sellers who use it as a transaction tool and inevitably have to use crypto, and maybe in the future this will happen.

Unfortunately this is true for my nation as well. There aren't many things or places that you could use bitcoin on and that means we have to turn that to fiat first, move that to our bank account, and then use it that way. I am not saying that it is a good idea, but it is certainly not a great idea to keep that going neither.

We need to figure out a way to use crypto, unfortunately there are no visa cards or debit cards and what not that we could use here neither. I have always said that biggest adoption for crypto will come when every part of the world has cards that we can use to pay in crypto, and the shop will get it in fiat instantly, that way we can use our crypto to pay for anything.

Sure. It should depend on the status of crypto in that country. If crypto is only allowed for an investment, surely we have no chance to pay for goods or services with crypto. We need to convert our crypto coins to fiats, then we pay for goods or services with the fiats got from our crypto coins. It is the same in my country, crypto is only allowed as a digital asset here. But I don't think it is a big problem, we still can use crypto at least.  ;D

Im using my crypto to pay my bills thru our local wallet app since it has many features like paying bills, top up your phone and more. In order to do that we have to convert our Bitcoin and alts into our local currency in the app before we can use it. But im not spending my altcoins because its still not recovering. I have spent crypto with my advcash card. Or just exchanging in p2p market. Or exchanging with kraken.
Or paying directly with crypto some specific object or service.
I have also used my crypto for betting in sport.
Now I am also using with a bank account that allow me to store both crypto and FIAT.
A lot of times I have heard "the no coiners" asking: "but how do I spend it?" "but then what do I do"?
here these are two of the dumbest questions I've heard on the subject...

No. I still use fiat in all of my purchases because there are still no physical stores in my place that are accepting crypto. But even if there are some, i will still prefer to keep it as an investment. Unless if its really necessary to buy that certain thing and i have no available funds in fiat, then i have no choice but to spend part of my crypto hodlings.  Spending crypto will only mean keeping a fiat that keeps depreciating, so i'd still keep it instead.

Right now, i'm still in the process of gaining more bitcoin and crypto to fill in my wallet so i don't see good reasons to spend them. But i know one of these days, i will have to enjoy and spend some of them shopping to reward myself.

Crypto is a very profitable investment that i prefer to keep it than to spend it. But if ever emergency cases arise, and i have no fiat on my pocket, then there's no valid reason not to spend crypto but i'll always leave some of it for future profits.

It depends on where you live and if crypto isn't legal and is only allowed for investment I think most people will treat it as an investment instead of spending it and if they want to stick with it have to convert it to fiat.
But I don't think it is a big problem, we still can use crypto at least.  ;D

actually it doesn't matter even if crypto payments in your country are illegal because the most important thing is an agreement between the seller and the buyer, if the seller and buyer agree to use crypto as a means of payment it doesn't matter because this condition is the same as barter.
if crypto in your country is allowed to be used as a digital asset, do you pay taxes on the crypto assets you own?

In my place there are not many shops that are willing to accept cryptocurrency when buying goods or services, so it still needs wider adoption because some people may still not understand what cryptocurrency is.
So in general the adoption of cryptocurrency is still not so widespread in this world even though it is very good at this time.

The past and the present are very different even though some people may have more experience in the crypto space at this time because the past was also very bitter in seeking profit, as well as at this time which may still be very difficult because there are more and more new projects. with different concepts and the many competing coins in the market, each coin has to show its potential, but at this time there are more opportunities to get profits, but it is always not easy for anyone.

Yes I know, you already explained to me in your first answer. I just told him that he was repeating what we discussed earlier, then I said if he needs more answers, please look my answer for Lantind. That's all.

Yes, of course I use my crypto for my life or for my family.I earn income from here to run my life in a beautiful way.I have made a lot of money from cryptocurrency. However, I made some profit and spent the rest of my money on household chores.I still spend from my cryptocurrency for my education.Because I have no other way to earn money except this cryptocurrency. So I am forced to spend cryptocurrency for my worldly life.
What I can notice from this is that you can buy and sell a lot of coins through cryptocurrency and you can get a good amount of profit from them. So all you have to do is first you have to have good knowledge about cryptocurrency and then all these.  You need more than luck to succeed in affiliate business. I've just bought a game through crypto but it's not directly from crypto. I have to convert it digitally into fiat so that I can spend it on steam.
That's what I do when I want to buy goods and online stuff from crypto. As long as it's convertible into fiat, that's what I do and I would love to do that directly if there's a game platform that accepts direct payments from crypto for their games.

I've recently got a Binance card to play around with and use it to pay for everyday expenses. Works pretty well.
I don't spend crypto directly, because in my country cryptocurrencies cannot be used as a medium of exchange. So all this time I use crypto only as an investment and for everyday purposes I use the results of work in the real world.

Is the Binance card really spending crypto though? Don't you have to convert to fiat? Some businesses actually accept crypto without conversion. ICP for example accepts it's native token for website hosting. A lot of Caribbean islands accept BCH and BTC is legal tender in El Salvador and soon Honduras.

Personally, I have taken crypto as my second way of earning money because crypto has not been accepted in my country. So it is possible to get an idea from your personal information. However many developing countries are now buying and selling products using crypto.

You're right, crypto adoption can grow huge in the future because more and more people have discovered crypto and its use. A friend of mine who will use bitcoin too and they have a small business then it's a big surprise at me that my Money is running out and can not sustain my daily needs like rice/ foods then I have an idea that what if I buy foods using my crypto and until now I used some of my btc to buy in my friends business.

It's just the condition that you and your friend have an absolute agreement about the utility of cryptocurrencies.
In another way, you can use your savings to acquire anything else even if you do not have providers that accept payment by different modern means because in the end there are those who are ready to accept cryptocurrencies directly for money.

Personally, I do not hesitate to spend what I have if I need it, even if it is not an urgent need.

Indeed, there are still many countries that prohibit using crypto for payments, so the best solution is indeed like you did by first converting
the crypto that we have into fiat, then after that spend it. After all, the process for converting crypto to fiat, and enter to our bank account
can be done on the same day. So I don't think it's a problem if we can't spend crypto directly. But I believe in the future all countries will legalize
crypto as a means of payment, for now we really have to be patient following the rules of the country where we live. So that we are not penalized
for violating state regulations.

So I guess things like that are always different for everyone and also not everyone wants to tell it to other people.

Actually with our needed in daily day is most important than how much assets of cryptocurrency saving on wallet, I think ever on the above position where prefer selling altcoin assets to buy some thing than keep hold it. I think have several people claimed as stupid decision when we try selling altcoin or bitcoin assets still on lower price, they don't know about what most important needed in our life and we have sell several altcoin assets to buy what we want. I mostly spend my crypto balance for phone credit because it has freebies and some buy-back features when you use crypto to pay them. I also use to buy some expensive stuff using the convenient local exchange that we have in our country. There are lots of things you can buy now with crypto, especially the stores that are like eBay in our country, They accept crypto as payment because they already know that there are lots of locals using it right now than before. You don't need to worry about where to spend it nowadays, you just need to have them in your wallet and the choices are multiples to choose from.

We all have our own goals on why we invest here in crypto. Some wants a to earn a profit so that they can buy the things that they want while some invest for long term to secure their future, etc. It's not right if you badly need it and you postpone it because your only hurting your self but once you insist to not spend, you just want to make sure that you will not sell at a loss because that is more unacceptable.

Delaying gratifications should mean that you have a better plan for your cryptos. Not all will showcase what they spend with their cryptos because they are humble but some are afraid and they think people will  judge them.

I have been buying some electronic cigarette stuff recently, I do not want to link them here and look like I am just doing marketing, that would drop the credibility of the post and will look like I am shilling some company. However that is a very good idea, and I really like it. Some nations still ban selling e-cigs and that means from the nations that allow it, to nations that do not allow it, you could sell it. Why and how?

Well, when you are in UK for example, you are allowed to buy and sell, and if let's say someone from X nation wants to buy but it is illegal to sell there, you can sell from UK and you will be fine, since you are not bothered by that nations laws, who cares if it is illegal there, you are in UK and they can't touch you :D. So, crypto is a way that those nations citizens can buy it without getting tracked and they will be safe as well.

If it can be strongly supported by all countries for the crypto space, then the users of the crypto space will be more and more widespread so that it will be famous by itself without having to be promoted gradually to everyone, because every use is always based on benefits and does not harm many people.
Crypto is now increasingly famous for its price increase which at that time was so fantastic that it became a high trend on social media at that time and invited many new investors to enter crypto, even though Crypto could not be used as a means of payment in some countries due to regulations.

Maybe a good alternative for Crypto users is to shop online so that we can choose to pay via Crypto.

We have transacted to buy goods in the form of NFT on Binance, several services such as VPNs and goods sold by the crypto community. I hope that in the future crypto will get support for exchanging goods and services around the world, transactions are better than fiat for transaction speed.

Will be bitcoin strongly when getting supported by all countries around the world, but United State dominance and their decision with another country business not agree when getting some countries have legal bitcoin as currency transaction payment. United State most impact with their USDT value drop and not worth again when bitcoin as currency payment. We can see when Russia announce with gas payment with Rubel and now USDT less function as currency payment on the world, I think still possibility with bitcoin as legal currency payment at the future if keep stable on higher price.

Here's a question to the audience. Do you actually buy stuff with crypto, like services or goods? If yes, what kind?

I've recently got a Binance card to play around with and use it to pay for everyday expenses. Works pretty well.
I personally have not been able to use it directly as a means of payment, given the prohibition in my country that limits the use of crypto as a means of payment. on the other hand I can only use it when it is converted to fiat currency. even from crypto earnings, I've spent it on buying a house. how nice it would be for a country that has ratified it, of course it can be felt free from inflation

I guess most of us have not been able to use crypto directly as a payment for something due to each of our countries policy. I think in my country, we still don't have a platform that allows crypto as a payment system. But if given a chance to use crypto as a payment for something, I would still prefer real fiat or digital money rather than crypto because of crypto's volatility. Who knows what might be the value of the crypto I have spent few years from the day I have spent it. I would rather see crypto as a form of investment for now.

Same in the country where I live there are no shops or sellers that use crypto payments because it is still prohibited and only allowed for investment.
and I think crypto investment will be more profitable when the price goes up than using crypto as a means of payment, because when the price goes up high and our crypto is wasted a lot because we pay too much using crypto there will definitely be regrets.
so I will not use crypto to make payments as long as I can still use fiat because when the price goes down I will definitely feel sorry, even more so using it for payments which over time will decrease and that is tantamount to reducing my profits when the price goes up.

When I feel I get a big profit then I don't hesitate to spend, I've been used to earning crypto since 2014 when faucets, giveaways, and so on were popular, but for the current trend of earning cryptocurrencies, I'm participating in this forum bounties, of course I also invest some coins that have good potential for the long term such as BNB, LUNA and Cardano.

Several countries still not allowed bitcoin as legal currency payment and I give access as investment only, in my country still not legal bitcoin for currency payment but available as investment assets or could trade with cryptocurrency. Have several exchange market have been legal in my country and not worry although bitcoin still can't accept as payment currency transaction but still can use for investing or trading assets. More profitable and benefit as trading or investing than bitcoin become legal currency transaction payment, during bitcoin can use for investing not worry still not legal for currency transaction.

I only have assets in cryptocurrencies, don't have cards or anything like that to spend, I think because I only have assets it's better to save them for the future because every year cryptocurrency continues to grow. In addition, in my country it is not allowed to transact with cryptocurrencies it is against, we have to transact with the original fiat of the country. But, if I had a binance card like you I would probably shop at an international shop that accepts cryptocurrency ATM payments.

Keep applause with selling BNB and ETH assets to buy smartphone but looks most expensive I think because with purchase $400 have got good mobile phone.
If it is related to the necessities of life, then there is nothing wrong with selling all the assets in your wallet because staying alive comfortably is everyone's goal.
So it is clear that people no longer think about the benefits of their assets, because there are other more important things to fulfill through these assets if there is no other money that they can use for their daily needs.

here is something that stuck in my mind, why most countries don't legalize crypto, why is it still banned and why is it banned? I think with the presence of cryptocurrencies there will be a lot of changes in the world, and from crypto it really helps people in everything, there are many virtues that we can do I can't mention all of them, maybe one of them really helps the economy, even you can make big profits. their income they can buy a car or a house or maybe other assets.

for now what you do for purchases or payments using the direct payment method with crypto is possible for now to pay for a VPN, and if I want to buy other items the first step I have to do is convert it into currency and transfer it to a bank account.

I guess one of it is bitrefill. They're not just tools but actual services that do offer other services and products in payment of bitcoin and other crypto that they support.
As you've said, it's a digital currency so it has to be spent. Whether you're spending it on trading, that's fine or the same as bitrefill then that's okay as well. That's the sole purpose of it as an alternative payment to the traditional payment methods we've got.

So if bitrefill can serve things differently at this point, I'll try to explore it when I have some spare time.

But wondering, are the fees high compared to using your credit/debit card? I stopped using crypto as payment long time ago via bitpay because the charges are quite expensive. MAybe, it is because btc. Don't know if you are dealing with doge. I spend crypto not directly but normally, I convert it to my local fiat first and then, spend it for my necessary expenses. Here's a question to the audience. Do you actually buy stuff with crypto, like services or goods? If yes, what kind?

I only paid for services with cryptocurrencies, I don’t plan to buy goods because it is forbidden in my country. A few years ago I paid for mobile services, paid for VPS several times and once paid for a low-budget advertising campaign. I think that most people will use cryptocurrencies only as an investment asset and a store of value.

Yes, I have spent some of my cryptos in exchange for goods. But that is because my wallet supports using cryptos in exchange for the platform's promos and services. Also, I have a number of times exchanged my crypto into fiat which I use to purchase goods and pay for utility bills and services. Actually, if there are many more platform in our country that allows crypto purchases I could have used crypto much more often.

If it's just exchanging crypto for fiat and paying for all services and bills, I think almost everyone has also done it very often because the support from wallets and exchanges to exchange it for fiat always exists in every country with the rules of each country, so this is it's very common for me.

I do spend my crypto. Even though in my country, banking with crypto is illegal, I can still use it for my online purchase. I recently bought a 2 in 1 laptop off Amazon with my dogecoin via bitpay. Also bought some clothes off Amazon too, also via bitpay

interesting thing and worth a try, so far I have only converted crypto assets to my country's currency, have never used crypto directly for buying and selling transactions.

The rise of the market attract many users to cryptocurrency.
Everybody want to make money on cryptocurrency and earn crypto.
That is why more and more shops and services accept digital assets.

The more adoption of cryptocurrency assets the higher is the price of cryptocurrency and demand in it.
Now many people use cryptocurrency for investment purposes and earn money on cryptocurrency.

The fact of spending in cryptocurrencies is a whole concept, there are ways to spend them, and one of the most common that I like the most is to send them to a favorite gaming platform, for example, if I have some altcoins, I send it to my account in stake.com, the idea is to be able to use it to multiply the coins one more time, obviously I use games to win fast like Black JACK, poker, and if I want to feel a little more adrenaline, what I do is allocate one more balance for slots, because I like to use it with little currency and wait for the good bonuses that they give, however it is my way of spending it, other ways is to convert to currencies like Solana, MATIC and use the network so that the fees are not so expensive, this is usually I do little, so I avoid sending amounts of money to exchanges.

Everyone who has been in the crypto space and works with their respective skills, must already know how to convert crypto to local currency so that they can be used to shop what they want.
Because now cryptocurrencies are still not accepted by all countries so they still need to be exchanged into local currency.

Well, it seems like spending the crypto we have for other businesses is the best thing. Many people out there may buy food, drinks, and others. However, spending crypto to get other benefits is a very good thing. For now, I also spend the crypto that I have to support other business needs such as buying a domain, investing in several projects, exchanged them to Fiat and buying physical goods, buying physical investment, and so on. Even though I am currently making a transaction by selling crypto that I have to Fiat form and buy physical goods, I think that I do a transaction with Crypto, because in my country the transaction using Crypto is limited except to exchange it first to the Fiat form. However, I think we can spend anything with Crypto.

I've recently got a Binance card to play around with and use it to pay for everyday expenses. Works pretty well.

I tried spending crypto to buy mobile load and data combined a few times before. But those were just small amounts from $5 to $10 worth of crypto in average per month. That's just it. But I do have plans to try spending my crypto in booking flights and hotels via Travala.

And speaking of the Binance card, I wanna avail it but I think there are certain qualifications needed for me to be eligible to avail that as a Binance user.

rather than spending the crypto I earn I'd rather reinvest it but not keep a lot of assets. I bet on small coins with little capital, but with the many coins I bought at least one became the Jackpot. I spend more cryptocurrency money for everyday life and having fun, because I believe that saving a lot of money in crypto is just for greed.

Not everyone can also do that because some people still don't like the iPhone XM Max, which maybe their needs are only limited to ordinary smartphones and regarding buying with crypto proceeds, I think everyone has also done it in the past even though through fiat disbursement first because there may not be direct support from the crypto they have.

I wouldn't sell my crypto in the bear market we have now to spend on groceries etc. The only thing I would consider selling would be yield farming and staking rewards from my NEAR, Celo, and ICP. This is the point in time when you should be buying, not spending.

The work you do is indeed very impressive, but in this case it seems that you have misjudged greed, because storing more crypto in the form of stablecoins I don't think belongs to greed because it is the same as saving money as usual and other things it becomes a pleasure for them.

Well, the truth is, changing or spending in stablecoins is a very safe way to have money, it's not bad at all, however sometimes it's good to have some cryptocurrencies saved and obviously in BTC that's something that can't be overlooked. but the reason for keeping it in crypto is simple, we don't know how the world economy is doing, in an eventual world economy crash if we have stablecoins, it is obvious that its value will be lost, I would recommend having at least BTC, ETH and Monero, to have Gold and that's it, I think that with that I could be calm.

In the last couple of years, cryptocurrency have been adopted to many services and companies. Right now I use mostly cryptocurrency for all my transactions, paying bills online, buying things, services and using it in gambling but that doesn't mean they are accepting cryptocurrency directly sometimes I need to convert it first to p2p before I can pay my bills or pay for any service.

You should keep on the suggested stable coins because we know now stable coins drop a lot from $1, so not completely safe but depending on the type of stable coin, I recommend for BUSD and USDT, maybe USDC is also good for stable coins.

Crypto are spent on several things. Most of them are for pay as bills for transactions an for for commodities. As for me, I spent most of my Cryptos in reinvesting and investments. It's good to reinvest one's profits after gaining it, my Cryptos are mainly spent on staking inother to gain more Profits in the space. Some crypto are bought or exchange for NFTs which will still give you profits in the future or sooner. Let's spend our Crypto wisely so we won't run short of it, because it's more like money in the real world.

I spend my small  BTC once to buy a second-hand android phone from my friend, actually not a big amount because I have cash on my hand the phone cost 1900 PHP which is I gave him the 1000 pho cash and the remaining 900 ill send my btc to his wallet. But some of my btc ill probably convert it into fiat and spend our daily needs .because cryptocurrencies in my country are not just known so only few people know about crypto.

That's good, you are enjoying the fruits of your hard work, as for my weekly salary I spent it on trading because I always say to myself that it is better to save rather than continue to buy unnecessary things that will not help me to grow and to have more money in the future. I used my salary in a full-time job for my other expenses such as my monthly budget for myself and for my family. Everyone has their own way to spend their money on the things that they wanted to do, it doesn't matter if it is a thing or for their self-growth as long as it makes them happy.

it means you rotate your assets and profits for more holdings in the future. something good for us to emulate. but in turning and spending the crypto we have for other investments, of course, we need good analysis. because there is a possibility that we are not lucky in other assets. even we can get loss rather than gain.
most importantly we have to separate crypto assets for investment and trading. think to make long-term plans for our investments and as much as possible not to use them for our needs. and profits from trade that we can use for our needs.

I rarely buy stuff online using crypto but I must have bought some series of tools in the past like VPN, ebooks and few others like that. But talking of offline, of course many things I can't even make numbers of. Indeed, crypto has helped me and made me achieved a lot much more and better in the last two years than all my jobs combined.

There's a lot you can do with the crypto you own or the virtual currency you own. so you should treat it with healthy benefits. you can also transact illegal goods with crypto because there are no restrictions. Buy what you think is useful for you and others.

Unable to spend crypto in my country cause here crypto isn't recognised as legal yet. But I experienced spending crypto outside in my country.  sometimes i use crypto for online payment for goods, Twitter audits, purchasing coins for various games and so on cause It's easy to use rather other international card. Although i always try to spend crypto less, i focus on holding it for long timeframe.

The good news is that crypto is gaining acceptance in many countries now and I think it will be available in your country very soon. In fact if crypto is not accepted in any country, then it cannot be used for commercial purposes in any country. But you can convert it into the capital of your country. However the government of your country should study crypto and choose the best way to take it within reach.

Many online transactions that you can do with Bitcoin. You can also buy the items you want by exchanging your virtual currency. But it is true that many countries have not legalized Bitcoin in their country.
