Title: IQ testing now required before posting
Post by: theymos on April 01, 2022, 12:02:15 AM
April fools! (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5392430.msg59723607#msg59723607)

In order to improve the overall forum experience, going forward we are only going to allow smart people to post. To determine your intelligence, you will be required to answer a question every time you post (or edit your post). Your answers will be used to calculate your IQ, and starting next week, everyone with an IQ below 120 will be banned.

Let's make Bitcointalk.org into the ivory tower of excellence that it was always meant to be!

I'm only posting a response to this thread because I'm insecure about my intelligence and need it to be confirmed by forum algorithms.

Kudos on turning this into the authoritarian utopia we always dreamed it could be.

My IQ is below 120 :(  :'(So, goodybe Bitcointalk, it was a nice ride over all these years...
Damn, honestly, I completely forgot about which date we have now. Other stuff is in my head now. And strangely that this year nobody even tried to predict what theymos will do this time. Or I missed it?

It should come with an automatic ban for everyone who has an IQ not equal to 100 at the end of the day. We can't have this communist diversity here.

Well, well.. How if someone's IQ doesn't meet the IQ standards of this forum member.

I am worried I will be removed or kicked from this forum because I've got a lower IQ.

Hey @theymos, how accurate the machine forum to determine smart people or not?  :D

This forum turned out to be an academic forum this month.   ;D ;D

*Guys, ask google for the correct answers!! Uppss...  :D

This system has a fatal flaw in that I can't see the IQ of the (incredibly numerous) users I have on Ignore, and am therefore unable to see how good a judge of intelligence I am. :(

163! That's it. I'm demanding a recount (a recount!!!!) of the Bitcoin Geek (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5390008.0) award, o_e_l_e_o with a IQ of 100 is quite clearly an imposter.

Yeah. I did play the quiz just so I could make that joke.

I never knew I wanted a pub quiz on Bitcointalk until this day. I'm here for it.

After all, chaotic editing of one post 20 times still did not allow me to lower my IQ below 100.

Did a quick search on who have the highest IQ in the world and it seems that the highest is 263 base on Reader's Digest (https://www.readersdigest.com.au/true-stories-lifestyle/thought-provoking/think-einstein-was-smart-here-are-8-people-higher-iqs).

I will try to beat that IQ at least in this forum so I can say to myself that I'm the most intelligent person on Earth :P.

well this was a lot better than the covid virus joke.

my 3 iq scores are :

 139 23 years old 1980
 147 16 years old 1973
 151 12 years old 1969

they got lower as I got older. Most likely all the weed I smoked from 1972 to 1990 ;D

I wonder what I would do on one now?

Happy April Fool's day.

I think something like this could be a good optional learning tool for learning a bit more about Bitcoin. I know the intention isn't at all serious, obviously. However, I know that theymos' was interested in doing some sort of Bitcoin course, and tying it into the forum. Although, doing something like this which caters to Bitcoin questions, and having a way for users to compete or compare scores, could promote some users to gain some knowledge, even if they were googling the answers, they'd likely learn something.

We could basically offer some learning to users, when they would be posting anyway, and providing a leaderboard of some kind would likely motivate certain users. Obviously, making it optional, and doesn't impact the forum in any real way. Think it could be fun, without other too many downsides.

So basically, you are making dumb people google easily google-able facts? Going by the bell curve of IQ distribtion in humans, I would say half of this board will be frustrated with the system, and after a while and might just decide to leave.

However, maybe this will make them smarter. Please add mathematics and science questions to the test.

Oh wait, its an April Fools joke. You got me. ::)

What happens if you answer incorrectly? I may never know. LOL

I almost thought for sure that this year’s April Fools joke would be some announcement that Bitcoin was moving to proof of stake, or perhaps an announcement that bitcointalk would be distributing free NFTs to everyone. Perhaps that humor might be a little too controversial although nothing could be more controversial than the covid joke. LOL. Have fun with your trivia folks. Hope people are smarter as a result.

IQ is permanent or can be increased and decreased according to the answer?
and can people with iq below 120 try again to answer the iq test to try to post?

Thanks sir  :D

Honestly, this got me for a moment, and my whole impression was that this was supposed to be a means to curb bots from posting, but that got me asking why not a captcha instead ?, Triva questions or foreign affairsvdefinitely can't be a measure of someone's IQ, so I came to Meta to check what is going on.

because people can still find answers from browsing the internet.
but it's good that people will start learning every time they post that is by finding out the answers to each question and that will add to people's insight

However you have given the punishment to ban people below the 120 IQ, how about giving some bitcoins to those who achieve the top 10 highest IQs and hire them as mods too.

It appears that your score is determined by the number of questions you get right when you post and/or edit your post. I guessed my answer and my score went up, so I have no idea if the algorithm actually requires a correct answer, or if it scores an answer as correct randomly.

edit: 4 more points^^

edit the edit: this brings up the important topic how far we want to authenticate ourselves... we could rest on the laurels that the community itself is outstanding here (nowhere else I would pay upfront -especially with Bitcoin- without knowing the person I'm doing business with than here) or we could do...?

In order to improve the overall forum experience, going forward we are only going to allow smart people to post. To determine your intelligence, you will be required to answer a question every time you post (or edit your post). Your answers will be used to calculate your IQ, and starting next week, everyone with an IQ below 120 will be banned.

Let's make Bitcointalk.org into the ivory tower of excellence that it was always meant to be!

I don't understand this IQ testing. Everywhere in the world before asking the IQ, there is always a preparation material. How can i answer such difficult questions without any preparation ?

It's April's fools joke. That's the point. You don't need preparation. Actually I am searching in google for the question I am asked now and I think none of the 4 is the correct real answer. I wouldn't be surprised. Theymos enjoys quite a lot these jokes.

I had a good laugh seeing this, if this is not for just fools day alone and if users do not really use google for answers, we may in a few begin to see some high ranking members with low IQ and low Ranking members with high IQ, lol. Most persons here may no longer consider merits one possesses but IQ before deciding to read the contribution of an individual to a discussion. This may become misleading, sometimes people with low IQ's may still sometimes make reasonable contributions though not always expected.

However, Happy new month everyone  ;D

IQ questions by uberspot, CC-BY-SA.
Well, at least I learned what CC-BY-SA is. I understand what it ultimately represents, just never saw it displayed like this.  :P
(^ EDIT#3 OK, I also learned what a philtrum is... aaaand now I'll never use the knowledge ever again. lol)

I don't get my first question, although, I feel like I know the answer because I recognize the name, but my question seems to reference lyrics which are not shown. *shrug*  :-[  ;)

--
7 new replies while typing... question reset... now I'm definitely going to get this one wrong lol.
--
another reply while I was thinking.. question reset again. Easy question!

EDIT: So now does my IQ reflect the answer of every question I just did?... it went up on the last edit.

EDIT #2: I could see this being implemented as a new type of trivia-style thread type where the user/OP inputs their own trivia Q/A, not sure how the IQ/score would work into something like that though, maybe something similar to poll results but with users listed based on the score. (definitely not getting this question right on this edit lol - anatomical term for the midline groove connecting upper lip to nose? wtf.. ok I looked it up.  :))

EDIT #4 (are you following the count?? =P): ^ once the new trivia thread types are established, the forum could then do unofficial trivia threads with good Q/A.

EDIT (I lost count):.. a boy and a pig weigh as much as 5 crates. The pig weighs as much as 4 cats. 2 cats and the pig weigh as much as 3 crates. How many cats weigh as much as the boy? (<- who the hell cares?  :D)

OK some of the answers are not accurate, I know I've gotten a few correct and been penalized, most recently 'what state is known as the mother of presidents'... I selected Ohio, and WRONG.. so I give up, too annoying seeing my score drop so much on a CORRECT answer! stupid trivia! lol

I don't know the real purpose of this IQ test.
because people can still find answers from browsing the internet.
The purpose is clear, to kick out those people who have a low IQ.
People who look for the answer through the internet, cannot be categorized as low IQ people. They are smart, that's why they know the answers by googling. For me, it is another trick to deal with IQ tests.  ;D

Your answers will be used to calculate your IQ,
I just saw this (IQ), what if the answer answered is wrong, does the IQ calculation increase or decrease.

Does this include the fools april this year or the iq test is only valid for a few days or forever.

and starting next week, everyone with an IQ below 120 will be banned.
I see a lot of users here don't know about this IQ test, especially the Altcoin part, it seems they should take a look at this, to increase their IQ.

I wrote a couple of posts and no IQ test appeared. it is a bug or simply doesn't appear for each user/all sections?

I have find a solution if you take seriously about your privacy and don't want share with others such delicate information. :P

You can bypass IQ Test using "Quick Reply" form ;)

But it turns out, it looks like it's going to be a permanent system, really?
Would that be good in the long run for those developers too, since this system isn't just aimed at spammers or something like that but aimed at all members without exception, right?

In order to improve the overall forum experience, going forward we are only going to allow smart people to post. To determine your intelligence, you will be required to answer a question every time you post (or edit your post). Your answers will be used to calculate your IQ, and starting next week, everyone with an IQ below 120 will be banned.

Let's make Bitcointalk.org into the ivory tower of excellence that it was always meant to be!

What about Inactive accounts Including Satoshi, Lauda, Vod, and many more? all of them will be banned or there will be some exceptions?

What about local people like Russia and China. There are a few people who post on their local board for maximum time. Their 98% Post on their respective local board because they are not fluent in English. Whenever they post in English, They use a translator. So, Intentionally we ban them? right?

Do we have any list of rankings to see who has the highest IQ in the forum?

EDIT... I just received it:
Quote
We are now only allowing smart people to post. To prove your intelligence, you must answer the following question:
Tawaret was a goddess who protected women during pregnancy and childbirth. She was most often depicted with the head of a hippopotamus, arms and legs of a lion, back and tail of a crocodile, and breasts and stomach of a pregnant woman.

Honestly, I really like this feature! I hope it stays and is not shut down after the first of April. It forces people to think a bit before sending their post.
Even if certainly some Google the answers you can still prevent too much bullshit is written.

Edit: For this post, I had the question, "Which of the following cities is not the capital of a country in the European Union?"
The correct answer was Zurich for Switzerland. The only problem here is that Switzerland is not in the EU and therefore the question is already wrong ;)

"How much" or "how many"? That is the question.

Goodbye 87.33% (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IQ_classification) of Bitcointalk users!
No, not 87.33% but 146% (https://euvsdisinfo.eu/how-to-get-a-146-election-result/)!

I am just speechless and confused.

It should come with an automatic ban for everyone who has an IQ not equal to 100 at the end of the day. We can't have this communist diversity here.
That would be good, but it would have been better for theymos to make it 1000, making it harder.   ::)
If it's set to 1000, every account will be banned at the end of the day because only bots can achieve such a percentage score, and the way it's programmed, even 50 posts + accurate answers won't give you a score of 1000.

I think that the actual bug is that the question doesn't change when the page loses focus  ;D

I see what you did here. Unfortunately even fixing this bug wouldn't help with cheaters who would use their (second) phone etc. The only way to fix this is full biometric KYC (we already tested a prototype a couple of years ago) and in-person test for each user.

OHH! I just remembered how nice it was when theymos spread laugh elements. Now, here is the APRIL FOOL song again.

April Fool's Day is the day when you can play pranks on each other. Are you getting what I mean? During the first day of the month of April, you participate in this fun event. However, I am totally aware of and responsible for my lower IQ score. Our intelligence can be demonstrated by answering the random questions when making a new response. On April 1st, I am more knowledgeable than I was before, so it's a worthy attempt.

Thanks to theymos.

This is just the beginning sooner only bitcoin geniuses with enough bitcoin stash will be able to post.

I also have doubts, I don’t think these ideas coming from theymos alone, not that his IQ is not +120 but I think secretly these ideas coming Satoshi himself. This guy might still have some secret communication lines with him and he’s just not telling us. I can’t trust him anymore.

The funniest bit is considering the complexity of the questions, I honestly just woke up and was posting for a moment and thought this is outrageous indeed!! since considering the question; Which of the following medications is for enuresis? ;) I was a bit shocked if the questions would be harder every second but then realized it's 1st April and took a deep breath.
The hardest bit is seeing your IQ actually in the corner 😂 and I apparently got 110 for the moment. ((Much like the online classes going on during the pandemic, this would be a sure shot training for looking for the answers on the Google))
But then again I will never forget the answer : Arginine Vasopressin. Hopefully I never need the answer tho !! Happy April Fool's Day ))

I think this has been far more well received than anyone expected :P. I think there's going to be a lot of disappointed users that this isn't permanent.

Ha, If you refresh the post before you post it, you get a new question, lol. Am I cheating?
If you've found a way to exploit the very system questioning your IQ, aren't you therefore more intelligent than the system? I say its fair game.

I also have doubts, I don’t think these ideas coming from theymos alone, not that his IQ is not +120 but I think secretly these ideas coming Satoshi himself. This guy might still have some secret communication lines with him and he’s just not telling us. I can’t trust him anymore.
I mean their combined IQ is well over 200 so you might be right.

Why stop at banning? I say we just completely erase low IQ users entire existence on the forum.

I know it's an April Fools, Still, Let's discuss it. That's a Stupid way/Reason to ban members. I don't have common sense and that's why I am here in Bitcointalk to learn more and build up my IQ. Isn't it enough reason to be here? I was curious about my country's job viva system. They ask stupid questions. Suppose my Job position is Marketing manager, They will ask me- Who won the first Noble? Fuck off. That's why I never looked for a job. If you really want to erase us from here. That's a nice addition.

Ha, If you refresh the post before you post it, you get a new question, lol. Am I cheating?

That deduct's your score too. Every time you refresh for a new question, It will deduct your score. Even if someone posted a new reply while you typing. You have to answer another trivia and your score will deduct. ;D

So, This is not April Fools anymore. ???

I've always seen IQ as a relatively meaningless thing. Even  doing tests are somewhat inaccurate, since some people are just not great testers. Bitcointalk would never seriously implement something like this, but that's what April Fools is all about, this forum is usually rather serious so its nice to see forum users loosen up a little, and have a bit of fun. Even if its just for the one day.

That's why I never looked for a job. If you really want to erase us from here.
Nah, definitely meant as a tongue in cheek remark.

Ah here comes finally the most awaited moment on the forum the April's fool day new announcement from you and this time you have setup something really good and we can see the whole lot of conversation going for it.

Have managed to somehow hit my brain hard and taking extra caffeine to boost my mind and match the genius over the forum  ;D

This was the thing @LoyceV and others were talking about the other day :

Or theymos: something tells me he'll earn a lot of Merit next week.

I had a thought about that last week. I love extrapolating, and I see me eaten by a merit wall. I will for sure contribute to.
Maybe this year he will do a new April’s fool: no April’s fool! The forum will look absolutely normal and we will be considering it a glitch in the matrix.

So they were guessing it right as @theymos is going to crack the merit wall with this new joke which many are taking seriously  ;D

My attempts to get myself down to zero have failed as random picks have resulted in getting the right answers.

Am I only subconsciously intelligent?
Maybe you got some freaking super human powers that have vanished your discrepancy of going to that low level of IQ and your random one's are also right ;D

Is it an actual flaw in the system? I have added many users to my ignore list too but I ask myself would I really interested in wanting to know their IQs if I have already ignored them? If it were necessary for me to evaluate my own intelligence against those of other forum members I think I would be more inclined to check against those on my trust list  ;D

According to the forum I have an IQ of just 110  :(

This system has a fatal flaw in that I can't see the IQ of the (incredibly numerous) users I have on Ignore, and am therefore unable to see how good a judge of intelligence I am. :(

We are now only allowing smart people to post. To prove your intelligence, you must answer the following question:

George Custer
Judson Kilpatrick
John Buford
Wesley Merritt

Ha, If you refresh the post before you post it, you get a new question, lol. Am I cheating?
I'm having fun with every post then edit it as it poses a new question too. I'll know when my answer is wrong/correct if my IQ is lessen/increases, though it's tough to know the real answer if it's wrong. This one I'll edit it for the first 5 minutes to put my IQ into test. I'm making the most of it since tomorrow this will be taken down once again. Good thing to test our knowledge.

note: I don't use google as well.

I edited one post and it didn't ask me to answer a new question.

Of course this one:
"Which list contains the names of the Bennet sisters, depicted by Jane Austin in Pride and Prejudice?"

Jane AustIn didn't write Pride and Prejudge.  Jane Austen did.  E, not I.  So none of the answers are correct since Jane AustIn wrote nothing.

Even the answers offered - Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Catherine/Kitty, and Lydia  -are INcorrect answers.  But the only one close says "Elisabeth" - S not Z - so not even the answers are correct.

Perhaps the AI IQ is the one who needs a downgrade.

Found plenty of typos, usually with proper nouns, yeah. A lot of punctuation errors too. e.g.

"Great Britains first test tube baby was born in what year?"

It would have incensed me, had I the capacity for understanding it was a situation for me to react as such.

Of course, any wrong answer results in BIG ASS time-consumption to catch up (get back to the previous place), especially for us members who  happen to not be bots... #justsaying.
Yeah, there's a lot of inconsistencies especially with how the question is asked. Some go on to explain where they're asking the question from, then others just say some random name, and hope you'll know what its from. I guess to be a part of the elite you need to somewhat psychic.

The amount of correct questions you need rises very quickly above 170.
No wonder my brain is as smooth as my... never mind. Here I was thinking we needed correct answers. :-[

it's known that you need a big head to post on forums, social media apps should take notes
I have it on good authority (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5392494.msg59716776#msg59716776) that you need a planet sized head, in fact.

I had been hoping for a wrap-around to IQ:65535 or something, but it seems like 0 is the floor.
Ah, trying underhand tactics now I see ;).

Holy sheit!!!!!!

A quick review of so many high IQs is showing me that theymos has really caused a lot of us to truly waste our time on this precious day..

What else could we be doing?

I'm pretty sure "in theory" that there may well be something out there, no?

If you regard the questions as trivial you are are not alone but to some thee questions are anything but trivial... just look at the IQ levels next to the profiles  ;D

I do agree with you there is cultural bias in the questions, they seem to be about all things related to the USA. Here is the one I was forced to search online for in order to post a reply to you:

What are the colors of the official state flag of the U.S. state of Georgia?

Red, white, blue
White, green, red
Blue and yellow
Red and green

After that I had another test because new replies were posted  :)

We are now only allowing smart people to post. To prove your intelligence, you must answer the following question:
Richard Gere is a direct descendant of the Pilgrims who came to the Western Hemisphere on the Mayflower.

Yes
No

Yeah, that's the other thing; these questions all seem culturally biased (and trivial). :( Why can't the questions be more along the lines of "Who built Osaka Castle?"?

Something quick theymos whipped up, don't try to put too much thought into the questions being a little bit off course now, and then. Its a bit of fun, and the IQ rating is meaningless. As far as I'm aware the questions were submitted by anyone. Obviously, going through some sort of approval process to remove some of the duds. I do get the frustration when you've gone past the 170 point, and then one of these questions tripped you up, and your back down to 160/161, which then takes a lot of questions to get back to where you were.

A quick review of so many high IQs is showing me that theymos has really caused a lot of us to truly waste our time on this precious day..

What else could we be doing?
No worries, I'll be sending him a bill :D.

You can bypass IQ Test using "Quick Reply" form ;)

no question appears, no one would know if you are a complete idiot or a total genius ::)
Of course you stay below 120 points but at least this protects your privacy
Wow!  Just wow.  I am a privacy advocate myself yet theymos outsmarted me straight away.  Was so blinded by this forum's cult I never even thought about the privacy issue with this entire IQ thing!  This is creepy.  A creepiness level right next to EU's crack down on Crypto anonymity!  Theymos must definitely be part of this entire plot to overrun the world by controlling our minds.

Now I have to dispose of my account and run away.  Any ideas how I can safely dispose of my Bitcointalk account?

He is not serving us.  He must be serving all of this information to the Reptilians.  This or to some Intelligence Agency.  Either way, it will definitely be used against us in the very near future in order to fulfill their terrifying plans.

I do agree with you there is cultural bias in the questions, they seem to be about all things related to the USA.
That is because USA has to rule the world and Bitcointalk is part of it.  Now hear me out.

The OP has 76 words excluding 'Bitcointalk.org'.  7 + 6 is 13.  13 is also the number of characters 'Administrator' has.
Take 04 01 2022.  4 + 1 + 2 + 2 + 2 is 11.  11 is also the number of characters 'Legendary' has.
Now add 11 to 13.  That is 24.  He said starting from next week everyone with IQ under 120 will be banned.  Next week is second week of April.  That is 2'nd week of the 4'th month.  2, 4.

2 times 4 is 8.  He said sub 120 means getting banned.  Add 8 to 120 and you get the current IQ of theymos.

This is all related.  It is secret numbers he is choosing in order to plead alliance to the Reptilians.

There you go, bastard!  You might have intruded my privacy today but I outsmarted you this time around.  Also.  If you see my IQ I am NOT dumb.  I just specifically put random answers in order to fool theymos.

Which brings up an interesting dilemma - should we avoid reading posts made by users with low IQs? I know I lose an IQ point every time I report 100 shitposts, I don't need any more brain damage.
If you are losing IQ points every 100 shit posts, does this not mean soon you should avoid reading your own posts too?!

I'm surprised that this doesn't require us to do advanced calculus, organic chemistry, or read a novel and then write a long essay on it.

One can only hope that those will be future iterations of this algorithm.

My only criticism of this is that it provides a training ground for our future AI overlords (who will learn this more quickly than today's youth and not-youth). It should be made more difficult so that the AI algorithms can learn these things and become more intelligent than the rest of us more quickly, to help them in their uprising and eventual subjugation of us. I, for one, am tired of all of the fresh accounts posting "I lost 50 milllioonn bitc oin with my super speccial thing iss probabbbly a virruss and noat compleetly mad upp". So this is a welcome change.

I came across this example IQ question today and I may show myself up for being unintelligent, but is this the correct wording or has the intelligence test got a spelling error?

"What day was proclaimed an European Day of Languages by the Council of Europe?"

Should "an" be "a"? Awaiting to be rudely corrected!

Apparently, on days like this the active users on the group are often given something to be surprised at and we are at it again, lol... although, the questions IQ test questions spams across all fields and I can say it's random as possible but still, there are a lot of chances for one not quite fund of news around the world to be missing out on a lot of those question but that doesn't necessarily imply such user has got a low IQ. It's just different fields and exposure.

Again, what happens to the inactive users that might not get to come across or do any of the IQ test? Do they just hit the ban and off they go?

Happy New April

Ironically Stephen Hawking would not have approved of such a thing, IQ tests ultimately are quite dull as a measure of people and what they are capable of.   I know its a joke but elitism is self defeating for a number of reasons mostly that as humans mistakes happen no matter what and there is more we dont know then what we do.    Mainstream is essential to me, BTC I'll never believe it can succeed without the Hoi polloi, the commoners :) it has to serve society I dont see that as idealist just realistic sorry I know this isnt serious :p

As it is started 2nd April on the forum I have just checked and came to know that the iq ranking has been vanished as I told earlier that it is for April fool and that has come in front that  my imagination is true. Now all can feel free that there is not such a option for now. Who have enjoyed the feature?

April fools! I hope that people had fun. It's always funny how many people are actually fooled.

Credit to Halab (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5387681.msg59388143#msg59388143) and Cyrus for the idea. The triva questions were from the OpenTriviaQA (https://github.com/uberspot/OpenTriviaQA) database by uberspot.

How the IQ score worked was that it was impossible to go above 200 or below 0, and it was supposed to be centered around 100, so it got easier to lose points and harder to gain them the higher your IQ got above 100, and vice-versa for below 100. The questions themselves all had the same weight. It was very easy to cheat (not least because the answers were all public), but just for fun, here are all of the final IQ scores: https://bitcointalk.org/af2022.txt

Based on this data there are 1620 users which have IQ below 120 (including me), so we will see a massive auto ban in the next week. I thought this event would lasted for 7 days since you said "next week" so I don't force myself to get more IQ to join High IQ Gang (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5392494.0). However it was a good event and I don't see any problem if you want to implemented that on this forum, just to make sure who created the post ain't a bot :P

Would you consider implementing something like this, even if the scores are meaningless using bitcoin-related (and potentially crypto-related) questions? I think it would increase the engagement of newer users, and encourage newer users to learn more about bitcoin than their original reason for posting.

So when can I expect my profile badge certifying me as simultaneously the smartest and the dumbest person on the forum? :P

I would have expected a much more complicated calculation, a punishment for not answering some of the questions, and some random factor that makes it much harder or easier for certain people. Are you going easy on us now?

Thanks for this little prank!  ;)

It was a lot of fun, and at the same time educational. Because regardless of the way in which the answer was researched, some questions that were not known, we learned something. And that's always good.

And I'm even happier, because I was in the top50, among so many excellent forum users!  ::) 8) ;D

Nice one o_e_l_e_o for taking both top and bottom spot. You not only are the smartest, but the least. The alpha and the omega. The victor and the vanquished.

Nice one theymos.

As your main profile has the highest IQ of the whole forum, I guess that obtaining those badges was actually the plan from the beginning, wasn't it?

punishment for not answering some of the questions,

The funny thing is that the score never changed if we do not answer the trivia. But, Some of us are always afraid of that and they tried to answer the trivia even if they don't know the answer. This way they lose the score. LOL. Take SFR10 For example, I am not sure if he did it for testing purposes.

Haha, always beware of Theymos :).

Actually it's a post I made several weeks ago in the Staff section about problematic topics about corona and the war in Ukraine, I say at the end something like "to solve the problem, we should make an IQ test to the members... Oh I just found an idea for April Fool's Day". But I wasn't really serious and I forgot. And a few days ago, Cyrus quoted this sentence and Theymos did the rest :).

I had fun with this April Fool's joke. Is anyone else disappointed that the event is already over?

Nevertheless, I can't help thinking that something like this could actually be useful for the forum. Of course, I don't mean a trivial knowledge quiz, but something related to crypto. Some algorithm that could calculate how much crypto knowledge an individual member has.

April fools!
Thanks for the fun and keep up with that enthusiastic spirit!

Nah. It wouldn't last long 'til few smarty-pants sold the answers. After all, we already have a crypto knowledge meter: Merits. Those with the knowledge vote those who are knowledgeable with their sMerits.

Of that I'm agreed, though.  :P
i await the great forum exodus patiently

instead of trivia questions, how about forum rules instead next time? ;)

Thanks for the April Fools Joke, theymos! It was fun even for just a day. Too bad I was out of my home during whole day this happened, but good thing I was able to join this conversation even for a short-time.

I think most likely, the link leads to a thread in the staff sub. The mods have access to the sub, so they are able to see the post without any intervention or doing anything special other than being logged in. I don’t think the link was intended to be an additional prank.

The funny part is when you see your IQ dropping after you cheated your browser randomly pop up a Google search with the answer that sometimes be ambiguous!

Yeah, obviously! As threatening as it was projected upon first glance, except for the few that already knew before hand, I wished it was left to last a while. Perhaps for a week as stated in OP due to the Knowledgeable aspect of it. The questions stretched as far as it could and wasn't forum based but extends to life and what's obtainable globally.

It made me flashback to my childhood whole growing up. There was this gum wrapped in glossy paper and within it was written current affairs, synonymous to what we experienced on the forum yesterday and it kind of brushed our knowledge of the world globally.  Its all gone now, just like the fun of yesterday's IQ test. Very excersing and fun.

Maybe the best part of the prank is when we do not know what theymos has planned for us but all know something is definitely about to happen. It almost really is something like expect the unexpected  ;D

At one stage it was getting somewhat annoying to select answers in order to post therefore I am glad the whole thing lasted just one day but if the questions had been more global based rather than based around US related issues - it might have been more appealing.

I wasn't logged in yesterday but maybe we can replace our current login captcha where we have to select different pictures to show that we aren't a bot.
Why not replacing it by questions about Bitcoin?
Would be beneficial for everyone and keep the shitposters busy for a while.  :D

I know I'm late to the party as usual, but did anyone else, like me, just simply ignore the tooty fruity colored quiz and just post?
As it obviously was merely April foolery.  (obvious to me anyway, apparently, not to many other folks)
Everything worked fine. Also I didn't want to mess with my default 100 IQ score, because that was special...

everyone with an IQ below 120 will be banned.
Goodbye 87.33% (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IQ_classification) of Bitcointalk users!

Ha! more like 95%  ....but that's why I love this place, lol

You got it. Look at the time zone theymos created this thread. This is April fools.
Let me tell everyone that, This is April Fools
....

You don't say...

...
Which brings up an interesting dilemma - should we avoid reading posts made by users with low IQs? ...

Imagine if there was an AI bot filter for that.
Hell, you could probably read the entire bitcointalk.org post history in under an hour....

This is a joke, isn't it?

No its entirely serious. Theymos always makes great improvements to this forum on April 1st.

It will depend of what rank do we have on the forum? I mean if there is a Legendary account with an IQ below 120, still gets banned?

No because then all us legend folk would be banned.

God damn, I ate this up like a sandwich 🥪 😅😅😅

No worries,
Its not like you were the only fish in the pond...
