They need someone to really teach the athletes to learn the benefits of BTC or just give them the option to receive stabecoin instead. Otherwise the athletes will blame crypto.com if the value of the BTC goes down. Having the stablecoin, they will still have the chance to trade it to BTC when they change their minds. I believe the crypto.com will pay them thru the crypto.com app, right?

In this article, I saw that they have an opportunity to be paid in crypto. I'm not sure how it will affect the overall market but having more people aware that there is a cryptocurrency and more people are going to be exposed to it. Maybe more and more people would be accepting cryptocurrencies as a whole. I doubt people would be opting out of it because it's a great opportunity since it's just their bonus.

Maybe they can wholly accept their cash prize in cryptocurrency rather than just USD in some time.

Since it's just a "bonus", I don't think there's much to complain about it. Converting it to fiat if needed shouldn't pose that huge of a problem for them imo, and I don't think they have to worry about it's value if they were to convert it to fiat immediately. Maybe have some of their managers handle that issue, ask the athletes what they really want and then let the managers handle the specific details themselves. As for being happy or not, well, it is a bonus, pretty sure most of them would be happy whether it was in cryptocurrency or not.

Well, we should be expecting UFC fighters for good fights but not because there is a possible bonus waiting for them but because their future is going to be brighter with each great win. Everybody in the UFC must be dreaming of becoming a champion and a superstar someday, not only because that would make them a popular celebrity but because there's money in it. Being a mediocre fighter in the UFC would not only pay less but also become the reason for nonrenewal of contract.

Anyway, Crypto.com is not stopping in finding ways to promote crypto. I admire their efforts.

I think crypto.com has already done it's share promoting bitcoin to athletes already and it's just a matter of time before any other companies and or sports athletes are going to pay and accept bitcoin and other cryptos.

So why not? athletes are good investors as well (not all of them), so maybe they are willing to accept it in the future because they know that chances are high crypto's are going to continue to rise in the future, so win-win for them.

This is not much of a concern. I'm pretty sure they will be briefed by representatives of crypto.com before they receive their bonuses.

Most of these fighters probably heard about bitcoin, doge, NFTs, and Metaverse.

Most likely yes. It would not make sense to partner with UFC and give bonuses to fighters who won't register with their platform. That's part of their advertising.

Why not they should be happy to accept Bitcoin as their bonus it's a bonus and most importantly its Bitcoin, they can keep their bonus in their wallet or favorite exchange and watch it grow double triple or ten folds in the future, if an athlete is fully aware of Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency, he'll likely invest and happy to accept Bitcoin, it's the best bonus they can get.

Why is this thread in the Gambling discussion forum?
The thread is about marketing and advertising, rather than gambling.Crypto.com is not a crypto casino/sports betting platform and there isn't any discussion about sports betting here.
I admire the fact that the Crypto.com team are doing everything they can to promote their company and cryptocurrencies in general, but I would never become their customer.
Companies like Crypto.com and Coinbase are nothing different than the fiat banks. They are centralized custodial platforms, that can scam you anytime they want.

Not a big deal this small bonus is going to attract huge traffic towards the platform hope the Bitcoin will be paid after the basic knowledge acquired by the respective player who is going to win or else they may lose their earnings to the hacker or even to the wrong address. Hopefully we can see more cryptocurrency platforms will sponsor all the sports or atleast a part of it which will expose that Bitcoin is not a hackers money its for everyone.

The UFC is doing a good job running their business. They have since the very beginning. Chuck Liddell, Forrest Griffin and Matt Hughes all had high paying jobs with the UFC after they retired where they literally didn't have to do anything. Unfortunately, after being acquired by WME-IMG Hughes and Liddell were removed from their positions and Forrest was the only one left as he was the only one who actually showed up to work and did the job.

Dana paid out of his pocket for many medical procedures fighters have needed over the years. He covered the cost of Stefan Struve's heart surgery and for Leslie Smith to have tumors removed. He has also covered the cost for the surgery of trainers at tiger muay thai and in other cases I don't remember.

All major MMA promotions that competed with the UFC are gone now. Pride is gone, strikeforce as well, WEC, affliction. They all sold their business or folded. Only the UFC remains.

I hope people appreciate the good job Dana and the UFC does, without them MMA could have been dead a long time ago.

For exposure this good but surely those athletes that will received it will cashout it immediately to fiat as they are not familiar or they are more focus rather than investment. Although the amount is just minimal they should atleast implement a lock in period for the bonus so that will have time to think on what to do or DYOR in Bitcoin.

Maybe not, they would think why these sponsors gave Bitcoin for their bonuses, a curiosity will be born in their minds and the might be interested with them. It is just the bonus they say, and not the full payment for their job. I guess they could spare it and not cash it out, see for themselves where it would take them. This is an opportunity for them, nobody knows when these fighters will retire, and I bet they would be even thanking crypto.com later.

I'm sure the athletes and most of them are not aware of cryptocurrency and probably will sell it and exchange it to fiat but this is good for exposure knowing that the UFC fighters will receive Bitcoin, I don't think this would have a big impact to the market since UFC is not as big as football league and it is just an advertising and not something like making it legal in certain country or big company or government start accepting Bitcoin.

They should be enlightened and educated so they will know how to protect their bonus and know the potential of Bitcoin, they should read a lot of articles and videos about Bitcoin, I'm sure once they knew they will not dump it and will treat it as a long term investment, they are lucky to have Bitcoin as a bonus, people are working hard just to buy Bitcoin.

Hearing this I think the contestants may be reading alot about bitcoin and cryptocurrency by now and I doubt they don't already know about it. crypto.com is really coming into sports activities, they have been announced as part of the official sponsors of the world cup. This definitely means the face of cryptocurrency is now present in sports activities.

The fact is not all the players would be up for it since the value can go down and therefore they would most probably encash as fast as they can as well. I think that the value of bitcoins would most probably be dependent on the personal experience of the player reciving it as well.
UFC is also adding pay per view bonuses and it would be dependent on the fan base as well therefore I think this might be an interesting event. This is supposedly the biggest sponsorship in the history of UFC as well. But many people are worried about the fact that it might have security issues.

Bitcoin bonus is a no turn down by any athlete.  Since it's  only bonuses that get paid in bitcoin  it will definitely  mean the earn their major pay in fiat so the volatility might not be much of a concern except for those who don't have good knowledge  about crypto currency and it's  price fluctuations.  But for athletes  with knowledge  about  bitcoin the will surely prefer their bonuses in bitcoin

5 Digits in BTC every event not their CRO. This adds the motivation to win.

After crypto.com has sponsored their shirts for months, none of these MMA fighters are unaware of cryptocurrency. they'd be glad to consider the BTC as investment. The bonus will make these MMA athletes strive hard to show to win the performance of the night.

This method or way does really tend to promote or have some exposure about Bitcoin and not stablecoins. If they would able to recieve bitcoin as a form of bonus then they wont really be complaining
about it because on the time that they would win it then it would be automatically be converted on the time on what the price of bitcoin would be which means that this wont be an issue.
Crypto.com is really that something aggressive when it comes to exposure of its company and together with Bitcoin which is something a really good initiative for the company for fastening up
global adoption and recognition/exposure.They might not have able to pull off that FIFA sponsorship but they are looking for other ways just like having involvement on UFC.

Much sure that there are fighters that isnt fully aware on what crypto is and now that they had made out some initiative on adding up some bonuses which is really not part of their contract or something like that
then it is indeed a thing which would motivate out and its not bad on striving just only one out of the 3 positions that they are requiring and amounts that been set isnt really that half bad either.
This doesnt only give out bonuses or advantage for UFC fighters but this one also increases exposure with Bitcoin not only for those who know but also it creates curiosity around
which do ends up on positive way.

Crypto.com is continuously expanding their exposure to every category in sports industry. They are maximizing the power of advertisement. That's actually good for crypto adoption. Not only through investment but also in crypto sports betting platform.
I'm not a huge fan of UFC, but reading this kinda makes me excited about the future of crypto.
Soon, every athletes will know how to use Bitcoin and other alts and how to invest for their retirement plan as well.

I think this is an image event and no one will teach athletes about blockchain, but this is not necessary. Firstly, they have managers to figure it out, and secondly, the main effect of this action is that even more people will learn about cryptocurrencies and some of them will understand this issue.

Crypto.com will be the one to pay the bonus and this will enhance the usage of Bitcoin of course awareness comes to it looking forward to other organizations using Crypto.com services to reward or pay their athletes and officials.
The company Crypto.com has been everywhere lately involved especially with sports,
Quote
Crypto.com enjoys high-profile partnerships  (https://www.fifa.com/tournaments/mens/worldcup/qatar2022/media-releases/crypto-com-unveiled-as-fifa-world-cup-qatar-2022-tm-official-sponsor/) with numerous top-tier sports and entertainment properties worldwide, including motor sport, MMA, basketball and ice hockey, as well as football. Most recently, Crypto.com secured a historic naming rights deal in Los Angeles for what is now the Crypto.com Arena and also became the official cryptocurrency exchange and trading platform for the men’s and women’s professional football leagues in Australia.

It's a good involvement and strategy for the company judging from the majority of people that sports attracts. The company must have a very good marketing team and huge budget because after being announced as official sponsors of the world cup, i wasn't expecting them diversifying into the UFC as well, Their aggressive marketing approach reflects a commitment to take over. A win for the company, a win for the crypto community.

It's just a bonus, so I don't think they're going to turn it down, and for the reason whether athletes understand crypto or bitcoin or not, most importantly they know bitcoin is valuable.
maybe those who understand will gladly accept it and will keep it because they get it from bonuses not payouts from winnings, and positively it is a great way to introduce bitcoin or crypto to all athletes.
actually this thread fits better in the bitcoin discussion section.

Probably they will all accept it, there is always a option to hold, convert urgently or to study how to trade. This bonuses will be a start before a even or actual sports will reward cryptocurrencies as the main winning prize once major sponsorships came from any exchange or crypto related companies. Any exposure that involves bitcoin or cryptocurrencies to attracts more investors can lead to hype or adoption.

I think this is a great initiative to expand the use of cryptocurrencies. It seems to me that nowadays it does not make any difference in what currency to get salary or bonuses as it is possible to make an exchange to other assets or fiat money in a few minutes. The main task is to provide information to athletes about security measures and storage of cryptocurrencies. But I think that the guys from Crypto.com will easily cope with this task.

Sports is a common thing that can found on every nook and corner. This means people are much attached to it. Anything happening with the sports industry easily reaches common people, because sports is for everyone. The rich watch the games buying tickets whereas the poor watch through television. This creates positive move towards cryptocurrency adoption from the common public.

Yeah, they arent dumb even though there are some which is zero knowledge but its not really that complicated for them to understand on what Bitcoin is plus
having those bonuses in form of Bitcoin is something that is interesting.Who doesnt really love bonus? Doesnt matter on what would be the form of it
as long it would be having monetary value then it would surely be pleasing and interesting.

Definitely, the ones who will receive it will be briefed about it. Crypto.com is the sponsor so there's no surprise that they will give a bonus in terms of crypto. And more than likely, it will be thru their app. They won't give such bonus without any intro or explanation at all. And as crypto is getting good interest among athletes, they will also do their homework how to deal with crypto. They can always convert it to stablecoin if they want to, to prevent volatility issues.

I've heard of this happening before in sports but not every person just those who had elected to do so.   Obviously its sponsorship money so makes sense.   Last I heard was a NFL player taking all their pay in Bitcoin, thats fine if you are already rich but not everyone could or would do this normally.   I think a mix of pay types makes sense, cant see anyone would complain about it really nice deal for both sides of the deal.

I don't actually see it as a big deal. It's just a change of payment method. The salary is still in fiat and being paid in bitcoin is a bonus. Maybe something new but not unique as crypto.com already involves crypto in some sports events. I think they already started on the employees of the former Staples center or when they made a partnership with the Sixers' home arena (I might be wrong on the Sixers' part).

But I agree, other companies might follow but since it's crypto.com that initiates it, it's obvious that they will do some ways in the form of crypto payment and nothing else. If some companies outside the operation of crypto will do it, that's what I can call a big deal.

Seems to me that UFC fighters were already aware of Bitcoin. It was surely already mentioned to them prior to this news that crypto.com will give Bitcoin as a bonus payment to them. Those who are not used to receiving Bitcoin or not involved yet in crypto I believed are now well-oriented and there should be no problem with that.

Since the inception of crypto.com, they don't stop interacting with bitcoin to real-world contributing to its mass adoption and awareness about it. In the long run, we might see bitcoin being probably used even for microtransactions (if ever there will be a catch on how to reduce fees).

What's next will they do? Probably surprising and big news that everything will now be paid in Bitcoin to all of their transactions and related businesses.

I'm not sure athletes are not knowledgeable about blockchain even if they live in a technologically advanced country. Even everyone I know, even though they are still technologically savvy but at a glance they already know how crypto works even without anyone teaching them anything about blockchain, the help of google search has shared a lot of knowledge with people all over the world.

It depends on each athlete.
If they want to keep up with the times and join crypto, they will be happy because they will receive their bonus in bitcoins.
While they can receive their income in fiat, they can also have new investments in crypto.
But if some of them don't want to join crypto, they'll want to ask for their bonus in fiat as usual.

With or without bitcoin being used as a bonus, you should always expect that there's a good UFC fight.

How come just because Bitcoin is being used as bonus pay, we can expect good fights from now on? UFC always has a good fight as these fighters don't really mind about that bitcoin bonus as what they are after are those big paychecks in fiat, reputation, and hold titles.

This action by crypto.com is really a different way but for these UFC fighters, it's just another day on their office. :)

Yes, they are not stupid, and I am confident that they will become more interested in it as time goes on, which will lead to them adopting more bitcoin. I know it was announced to them earlier, and I am sure that they already have a basic understanding of it, its volatility, and how to exchange it. This is a fantastic step forward, and I believe that other sports will follow it and begin rewarding their athletes with bitcoin. This is a fantastic innovation in sports, and it will allow them to make more money as a result of it. Their compensation is rather plain, but when cryptocurrency is involved, I believe it becomes more interesting.

In this article, I saw that they have an opportunity to be paid in crypto. Maybe more and more people would be accepting cryptocurrencies as a whole. I doubt people would be opting out of it because it's a great opportunity since it's just their bonus.

Maybe they can wholly accept their cash prize in cryptocurrency rather than just USD in some time.
This gives additional market exposure and demand and expected price surge.
The more it introduces to the sports events like UFC, this will surely attract more adoption from other sports/gaming platforms.
  * more adoptions
  * education
  * of course, this gives a clear understanding that Bitcoin is real and usable.

This sort of crypto improvement and market innovation will somehow give the idea that people are now willing to adopt the technology and accept changes, Fiat to Digital currencies.

Although I have seen this somewhere already like those football athletes. But this is different since it's an incentive for those UFC players based on their viewership.

Crypto.com has already been known to support sporting events and this is actually good marketing for them. A partnership is likely for UFC and crypto.com through this bonus that they'll distribute.

I am sure that many fighters will be happy to receive bonuses in bitcoins.

Wrestling in the ring is a very dangerous sport.  There is a high risk of serious injury and disability.

At the same time, Bitcoin is a deflationary asset.  Its price is constantly rising over time.

Basically, a Bitcoin bonus can be seen as a great retirement plan.  At the same time, unlike a traditional pension fund, Bitcoin does not go bankrupt.  The money is under your control (if you don't forget the seed).

I think that many UFC fighters are realizing the benefits of being rewarded in the first cryptocurrency.

That's right, the risk in the ring is very big, especially a concussion...

By receiving a bonus in Bitcoin, the future of the wrestlers/fighter will be safe because the price of Bitcoin is predicted to continue to rise. just imagine if they receive a bitcoin bonus at the current price then a few months later the bitcoin hits ATH again then they have made a 100% profit.

Stake.com was the UFC’s first-ever “Official Betting Partner” in Latin America and Asia.... before Crypto.com was on the scene. They made Israel Adesanya their Brand ambassador, but I do not know if they paid him in Crypto currencies.  ::)

They also have fighters like Francis Ngannou ...and it did not stop with only sponsoring men.... they also signed Alexa Grasso and some other boxers... in the Middle weight division.

I am just glad that Crypto companies are getting into the sponsoring of big events and the Sport individuals.  8)

It will surely benefit them because that's the fruit of their hard work. They all deserve a good amount of bonus but I hope that they would get a chance to get to know the importance of Bitcoin as a currency and they will be able to access it easily. This kind of Bitcoin exposure will surely have a positive impact on the entire crypto community.

each UFC fighter has quite loyal fans out there, especially when they win the championship, this is a good boost for the fighters and also fans to get to know Bitcoin.  fighters profit from Bitcoin -> crypto.com as sponsor paying with bitcoin is getting more and more known -> Bitcoin is getting more and more popular, this is a perfect collaboration.

Very nice, seems like crypto.com is all over the place these days. Would be nice to know how big their annual marketing budget is. It's a nice way to promote crypto currencies and do some advertising at the same time. Crypto.com seems to target all areas of the sport industry for their ads. This probably will also bring a boost to the whole crypto sport betting community. I wonder how many UFC fighters will actually keep their Bitcoin bonus and how many of them will sell them immediately to convert to USD. For any big athlete with a lot money it would be a good idea to diversify some funds into bitcoins and other cryptos. If I were a fighter I would keep all my bonuses and negotiate some of my salary to be paid in bitcoins too.

Even the bonus will not be paid in bitcoin, these UFC fighters are always paid thru their hard work. There's a benefit even without the bitcoin payment. There's nothing special to that as they just simply change the bonus payment into Bitcoin as obviously, the company is related to crypto. Crypto.com really doing some nice actions to promote awareness of cryptocurrencies in general.

The goal is to promote crypto while promoting the service of crypto.com. A good move actually but I don't think other companies will follow. Those who will follow that payment scheme are those businesses that are technically in the crypto industry already right from the start.

Of course, I believe the bonuses paid by the UFC to athletes will invite pros to other athletes, as far as I know Crypto/Bitcoin is not new and the first time exploring the world of sports.

If I'm not mistaken UFC is a crypto partner for almost a year, I've seen UFC president Dana White's interview talk about Bitcoin, about how they will implement the idea of using crypto well in the future for Athletes.

Like @Dana said, one of the exchanges invested in the LA Lakers stadium in 2021, nearly $700 million more, in this case I believe Bitcoin will be the basic reference in payments for world sports athletes in the future.

What I liked about this initiative is that the best UFC fighters will be chosen by the fans to get their bonuses in BTC (although I couldn't find information on how exactly it will be organized) and that this contract has a long term plan. $175 million is a great award that will be shared by the really best UFC fighters.

I think this is an image event and no one will teach athletes about blockchain, but this is not necessary. Firstly, they have managers to figure it out, and secondly, the main effect of this action is that even more people will learn about cryptocurrencies and some of them will understand this issue.

And what does it change from a practical point of view? It's one thing to hear about something, it's another thing to use it. As it was already written above for the athletes themselves, this does not change anything - it is only a slight change in the payment method, but in the end, the athletes still receive fiat. But from the point of view of keeping cryptocurrencies in the news flow, this is a good thing.

It's good if this also comes with education on athletes that receive bitcoin as bonuses. This is just publicity for crypto.com to make their brand seem like they're promoting crypto for the future. They are in some way but ultimately the one who benefits more is them and not the other parties involved in the deal.

The good thing is, people will have the chance to hear about crypto when watching their sport (UFC), and may even be interested in researching more about cryptocurrencies as a whole due to this deal made by crypto.com with the athletes.

I am not a fan of UFC but this thing (bonus) is already thing before? Almost all people are going to get excited if promised by a bonus so yeah it can also make the match more exciting because players are trying their best to be included in the top three in order for them to get qualified for the bonus.

Another thing that can make them excited is if they haven't tried bitcoin before but for the existing btc users, it can still give them an excitement thinking that there's another addition to their portfolio. Before it was also crypto.com that is said to sponsor the FIFA and now there are at it again. Wow this crypto company never fails to impress us.

It might be that exciting but I'm just concerned about of what knowledge those fighters have about Bitcoin/crypto currency since they don't know yet how to use their wallet or not exposing their private keys to someone. Although if they have a free tutorial on those fighters on how to use a wallet or just a basic knowledge about using the wallet and Bitcoin then that would be great for them. And I'm sure most fighters would love to be on the top list since it's not all about Bitcoin but also it's all about being a champion.

Even if majority of the athletes get the bonus in Bitcoin, if they wanted to they can withdraw them instantly. There are many fighters in the UFC that solely depend on the bonus payment and when they win them, they usually want to use them to settle their loans rather than holding them. So these things are individual cases as it depends upon fighters who are financially secured, they might hold them, the rest will cash out instantly.

I do not really see the benefits those athletes could receive by using stable coins, in that case they might as well just get their fiat and use it wherever they want.

However getting bitcoin could be an option for them, but if they do not know anything about it then they need to be instructed about the advantages and disadvantages of having an investment in bitcoin, that way they can take an informed decision and decide if they want to keep or even increase their bitcoin holdings or if they prefer to sell for fiat.

Because that's their line of business. They slowly interact with sports and I'm sure part of their roadmap will be interacting too on other industries.

I'm just sad that they changed the name of the classic and famous Staples Center into their company name. Not a big deal for others but that stadium resides the Los Angeles teams that are already part of the large and deep history of sports.

Back to the topic about UFC, it's a good initiative that BTC is being introduced as a form of salary/bonus here. Expect the same event in other sports as well in the near future.

I don't really get any factors that this move from crypto.com would negatively affect the market nor even the exposure of the cryptocurrency to the mass. I even don't think that using bitcoins for bonuses would even turn the market down as such prizes which is less than a btc cannot drastically pull down the price action of the coin regardless if they sell those way lower than they could have. I also see this as a great opportunity not only for those who would be having the bonuses, but also to those who will fight from the ground up -- knowing that not only they won a belt and a part of the money from UFC, but also gain a bonus in cryptocurrency WHICH is something that only happened now, a win-win situation indeed.

But no, cryptocurrency as the main prize isn't acceptable to some hence wouldn't work as a general price for all. Not everyone takes the volatility of cryptocurrency to be an advantage, as they could have less once they sold it lower than they should have.

Stablecoins or not I think there will still be benefits on it since it will drive adoption to cryptocurrencies. They need not to be knowledgeable in the first place, they need to show they don't know about it or else it will just create issues especially those who loves to whine.

Crypto.com might really give out some ideas on what they are giving in case that athletes arent aware of it but it is something impossible that they wont really be aware about it but if they do then it would really be just common sense for them to make out some research.

After receiving the coin then its up to someone whether he would directly convert it to stablecoins or direct conversions to fiat after recieving so its up to them.
Some might really get interested with it and some wouldnt really care and do really mind off about on having fiat.

Sometimes advertising is highly productive to new business and highly justified, I cant tell if thats the case but its a very simple name for a site surely it gets clicks just for that.

Nobody is forcing player to accept any bonus, they can just fully refuse to accept the free crypto.   What a pointless protest that would be, its very relevant and sponsors will always encourage their players and team to actually engage with the product.   Its their right to do so just as the players have the right to garner their own sponsors depending on their contract clauses I guess but I cant think of them as hard done by especially tbh.

Its unbelievable if athletes don't have any idea about cryptocurrency because I believe a lot of popular athletes are now into cryptocurrency.

It's a double win for them it's not only a convertible to cash but a potential to make a profit, now we will see fighters highly motivated not only for prestige and reputation but also to make additional money coming from the bonus, maybe in the future we will see many sports organizations doing the same for their athletes.

i agree, but i think they already aware in such way of distribution of bonuses and surely it's expected since its a crypto based platform. And perhaps they all knows what bitcoin is as well because indeed it's very popular all over the world.
and lastly most athletes has a manager so it's their consideration how to handle it and no need to blame crypto.com if whatever happens in it.

Many athletes earn very decent money and in their lives have long been using technology that the average worker can't afford yet. I don't think they are unfamiliar with BTC or other investment tools. Nowadays even a kid can understand how a crypto wallet or centralized exchange works, so I don't think they have any problems with exchanging or storing BTC.

It is unlikely that someone forces them, and in fact, until we see specific transactions, we will not know how the funds were paid out. As for the amount of funds, it is obvious that even if they use the most aggressive marketing strategy and spend everything they have on advertising, they have a good margin of safety because the organizers of the World Cup are serious about choosing sponsors.

The managers will surely educate their athletes first how bitcoin works so that they will have an idea whether to keep it as an investment or just convert it into fiat once they need the cash. This is one good way to spread awareness about bitcoin and crypto.com has made its perfect choice to start it with the international fighters as it brings fast adoption for bitcoin and cryptocurrency. Yes, its just a bonus but its value is definitely worth to keep.

I'm sure the managers of the fighters must have taught their fighters about the benefits they will get in the future if they get a bonus in the form of bitcoin from crypto.com, this is great marketing from crypto.com and is sure to make the push for mass adoption even stronger. maybe in the future there will be many fighters who will only receive their salaries or rewards in the form of bitcoins.

Wow this crypto company never fails to impress us.

Expect the same event in other sports as well in the near future.

well, they paid a ton of money just to change the name of that historical place. means the one handling it needs money. because if not, they won't be open for the change of name in exchange of money. but anyway, crypto.com seems to have a lot of money these days, they are very aggressive in terms of marketing and promotion of their name. which means, they may be are doing very good with the business.

I don't know what the process did but to name the famous Staples Center to their company name, really requires lots of consideration. There are even players who did some feedback about that. Maybe it's possible not to change the name out of respect but the company, crypto.com, really wants a big change and for sure they have listened to some advice first before doing it.

Not just in basketball, UFC, football, etc. but crypto.com is already engaged in other sports and I think as time passes by, the progress will be turned into a big one. There are surely lots of developments that being lineup.

I wonder how are they gonna do the "fan votes" and I wonder what are their precautions to prevent any attempts of cheating on fan voting. anyway, kudos to crypto.com for doing this. I know this is part of their marketing but by doing this cryptocurrency is also getting exposure to more people who might not know anything about it.

I'm not sure if all athletes have received information about crypto properly and correctly. If so, there is a possibility that the athletes will be happy to receive bonuses in the form of crypto because they don't have to buy crypto anymore beyond the fees they will incur every month.

If they haven't, I don't think they would be happy to receive a bonus in crypto. Maybe before this is implemented for all athletes, it needs to be socialized first so that no misunderstandings can occur.

surely they (the fighters) were given an explanation of what bitcoin is, its function and also how to exchange it by the team from crypto.com, besides that now information about bitcoin and altcoins can be obtained easily via the internet, as long as there is an intention from that fighter

Basically, the benefits received by the fighters are far greater than the losses (price drop) that are likely to be received

They'll have some plan to execute. Allowing the fans to cast their votes is not a big deal. Crypto.com have got the best team for innovative development as well as for futuristic marketing plans. More the exposure given to the market, more will be the growth. Because the market is being developed in such a way and driven forward by the instructions/individuals holding good volume of cryptocurrencies.

It should be obvious that these fighters, athletes, and so on will adopt the idea of using bitcoin in the long run. For let's say few of them really don't have any idea about crypto in general, it's impossible to think that they won't try to learn about it.

That's not really a big concern to start with. There will be no misunderstanding that will happen. It's not that we are talking about their main salary/checks here. It's just their bonus and learning new things should be easy on them.

For sure there would really be curiosity once they do recieve those bonuses which is something a common sense to be done. They do focus on making on top rankings and those bonuses are just purely an add up.
They do recieve or not then it wont matter but its a good initiative from a company to have this kind of giving bonuses at the same time it do really add up some exposure to Bitcoin.
Wont be surprised if other companies would really be doing other things similar to this which is really that preferable.

Before it was also crypto.com that is said to sponsor the FIFA and now there are at it again.
It was a bid and they've lost that bid to sponsor FIFA. They didn't win that sponsorship and it was awarded to another company which is from India. Well, if they've won that sponsorship, it's huge money for them to cover that and that will surely add more users to them.

Wow this crypto company never fails to impress us.
They'll do it as part of their marketing and maybe in the future they'll integrate and work as a third party payment system just like bitpay or they already have that feature?

Maybe the rest of the crypto companies will follow when they sponsor some events. If only crypto.com has sportsbetting platform as well, these MMA fighters may also enjoy betting and will not even try to cashout the bonuses they gave.

Its not a problem if they receive cryptocurrency without prior knowledge about it, there are tons of information online. Besides its just a bonus, Petr Yan probably did not expect to get a bonus.

Hopefully, because we know that there are still many ordinary people who don't know about bitcoin or crypto, that makes many of them not want to know about it. If they have got a general explanation about bitcoin, how to use it, and what bitcoin is used for, they may be interested and agree to receive a bonus in the form of bitcoin.

Oh, that's not a problem as long as there is an explanation of how to use bitcoin. But if fighters and athletes are only told that their bonuses will be sent in bitcoins, I don't think many of them will agree. Well, hopefully, they can and will learn it as you say.

I've seen something like thks as well, in a situation whereby NFT was distributed to players as incentives and what am looking out for is the time when most of the football activities will be fully sponsored by crypto industries and i see to this as a development and a first step to achieving it, UFC has given a trial, infact players can now place a demand on their weekly pay to be on bitcoin, because the players will soon be experiencing challenges with their commercial fiat banks on their funds.

Could this be the way to sneak from taxes? This could be good for both, crypto.com and fighters. If a fighters get a new car as a bonus, does he obliged to pay taxes for that? With crypto and anonymity, it is like a sweet candy to get a bonus like that. Who would check how much a fighter got and prove that address belongs to him. And if they get an NFT, that is even better. Who knows what value it had on a specific date. You can only check min, max and average price.

The standard for every fight will be high from now on because of this reward, and we have seen it in the recent UFC events, fighters should be educated on the potential of Bitcoin and how the price will zoom up because of its deflationary nature, so they will be inspired to win to get that Bitcoin bonus if other organizations see how motivated the athletes if they get Bitcoin as a bonus they will follow UFC and Crypto.com leads.

The time will come when NBA and boxing organizations will also adopt Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrency or even players request that their bonus or part of their salary should be in Cryptocurrency, the future is bright for Cryptocurrency in the world of sports.

then it would be an advantage but  it seems they do really just tend to stick out on what type or kind of company they would be and never intent to touch up other industry.

Is only a new born baby that will say he or she does know or have never heard of crypto before. Athletes are more conversant with the crypto world and how it works cause the have the information and the resources to get things done to their pleasure. Crypto.com had been working their way out to the public so more people can adoption cryptocurrency easily   based on their sponsorships and partnerships.

The bonuses are huge but might not be compared to what fighters are earning, although its a good start that will aids more adoption of Bitcoin and crypto currency at large.

Crypto is giving the fighters a special bonus than the fight of the night or performance of the night handed out by the UFC every event. Initially i thought they are giving that bonus in crypto and only after UFC 273 it was clear that it was a special bonus.

Yes, if they refuse to accept their bonus in bitcoins, they will miss the big chance to make a profit in the future. Hopefully, they can open their minds and be able to accept something new. Or they could just read articles about bitcoin, how to use it, and what bitcoin benefits them. They should realize that the bitcoins they get are not because they bought them from the market but because it is a bonus from their work.

Everyone today know the value of bitcoin and I believe even athletes or UFC fighters are more aware about this digital currency and if they would going to refuse to accept bitcoin as a bonus pay they probably miss a big chance to earn a great profit out of it. I mean, imagine you received a bitcoin pay bonus and if you choose to hold it and sell it to the high value then it's an easy money. Its good to know that this kind of bonus pay existed because its a positive indication that bitcoin or cryptocurrency were fully optimized.

This is a good development and we expect good fights from now on because

Quote
Bitcoin bonuses will be awarded to the three standout athletes at each UFC pay-per-view event as voted for by fans across the world.

Crypto.com will be the one to pay the bonus and this will enhance the usage of Bitcoin of course awareness comes to it looking forward to other organizations using Crypto.com services to reward or pay their athletes and officials.
It is an amazing development in crypto, however, this never makes it helps to see good fights. Indeed, the fights we saw are good already. But what we expect is to gain more attraction and crypto exposure which eventually helps increase demand and users.

Quote
Do you think the majority of athletes not only from UFC will be happy to accept their bonus by Bitcoin?

That was uncertain. Many were still no-how about Bitcoin, they will, of course, don't accept that.
I'd looked forward to having this being fully adopted in sports, not just in bonus but their salary.

Crypto.com looks like it has clear objectives to make its name synonymous to many sports, they first started with F1 by sponsoring there, then they just announced not long ago that they will be sponsors of the World Cup,now they will be sponsoring UFC fighters,it is great to see such a big involvement in different sports from one entity like Crypto.com which is good for Bitcoin.May be the impact will not be immediate but after the banner of Crypto.com will be seen often in TV for their sponsorship's this will only be beneficial to Bitcoin and crypto over the long run.

If we visit the website of crypto.com we will see that they have different products and services offered, why can't they add a sportsbet or a casino on top of that? That will be a good idea since they are sponsoring different events. It will be easier for them to gather players. For now they don't have it but those fighters that receive their coins can still do trading on crypto.com, if not then they can also use crypto.com's wallet.

It is surely safe not only because of its reputation but also because users can hold their private keys with them. Fighters are smart guys, we shall not worry because they can easily learn it if they haven't yet.

Yes.

If it's a forceful payment of bonus in bitcoin then there's no way for them to refuse it. The matter is that if an athlete refuses it because he or she don't understand it.

They're becoming honest with their setup and it should be respected. But I guess majority of them have heard about bitcoin and they are for sure going to accept it but, to those that refuses it, that's okay but don't have that negative description for them.

Well I think that a bonus in BTC thanks to the influence of crypto.com is something that helps a lot especially for those who do not believe in BTC, in this case for the UFC fighters it is an additional motivation, for those who did not believe in BTC, I think that now it is a great option for them to enter the platforms to make the respective bets.

In part this benefits not only the world of sports but also market speculators and investors, somehow a lot of demand will come in and this means that BTC can reach a great price, of course this is not overnight another, but I am sure that in the medium and short term we will see more of an effect.

If those who receive their bonuses will start adopting or start their curiosity in this industry, we might see good impacts on the entire market. Until now there are people who don't believe in it and by doing this it will add some good numbers of new people to enter inside this market and who knows maybe those people will also invite or influence more people that surround them right?

Still early for this one, but the more crypto will be advertised and introduce the more we will see good numbers of adoptions to take place.

Indeed without bitcoin they can make more money with that sports only, And i don't think they will become holders afterward because surely they don't have such mindset and interest when it comes to bitcoin investment.  I mean all they need is the bunos and perhaps its expected since the partnership is based on crypto.
Yes, I think so too. Some will be a holder of bitcoins from their bonuses and others will not be a holder of bitcoins.
He could say they were stupid if the athletes refused to accept their Bitcoin bonuses, but it all depends on how they understand what bitcoin is.
Those familiar with bitcoin will be happy and welcome this idea because they will have an investment that will provide huge profits in the future.
But those who want to receive a bonus in fiat form will refuse it because they see the very large amount of money they will receive as a bonus.

I often watch UFC and I often see sponsors from crypto.com.
this may be a start in the use of crypto which will be huge in the future. Personally, I think that there will be a lot of sports in the future that will use bitcoin as their means of payment. whether it's a bonus, an incentive, or even their salary. well, basically it's a good thing to get people used to using crypto in the digital world. they will feel comfortable in making fast transactions using crypto. this will spread to those closest to them, and more and more. this is a good thing in the crypto world.

Good thing when many advertising from cryptocurrency on UFC because this fight competition have many watcher every time, I think will be good side when bitcoin as advertiser there because can promoting how bitcoin effective as investing assets and payment currency on the future. I think when giving bonus for the winner actually UFC fighter will created bitcoin wallet and they will have more knowledge about bitcoin and altcoin as worth for transaction and investing at the future, I hope keep consistent to be investor or advertising on UFC fight competition.

I don't think everyone knows the value of bitcoin. I mean, even though they know the value of bitcoin, some people are still afraid of the value of bitcoin, which can fluctuate at any time and that's why they still think long about investing in bitcoin. I'm also not sure if all UFC fighters are more aware of this digital currency because there will be some who don't like it. Also, during this time, people tend to like things they can see and hold and feel, while bitcoin can only see them. It is a challenge for the UFC to introduce more crypto to its fighters and what are the advantages of this crypto for them.

if they refuse to accept their bonus in bitcoins, they will miss the big chance to make a profit in the future.
If they refuse the bitcoin offer, that's the same as saying they refuse the bonus being offered to them because bitcoin is still a money and if they didn't knew bitcoin or did not like it, they can still sell it immediately once they received it. Not all are willing to hodl their bitcoin for longer terms especially if they are not familiar with it.

They should realize that the bitcoins they get are not because they bought them from the market but because it is a bonus from their work.
Obviously they will. It's call a bonus right? if they will realized this fact, the more that they will not care to keep their bitcoins for a long time because it was not their own money that they use to get those bitcoins so it's okay if they can sell it at any price because in the end they are still going to get some profit with it.

Do you think the majority of athletes not only from UFC will be happy to accept their bonus by Bitcoin?

How good if all of Sports man will also have this offers , because we can see nowadays that there are so much support from sports person towards cryptocurrency.

there are also gambling sites in crypto that has sports celebrity  endorser and advertiser so there will be enough rooms for Crypto accepting players?

so not only UFC fighters but als other sports players .

I think this is one of the duties that the organizers need to inform the fighters- like at least educate them about the nature of cryptocurrencies and about its volatility. Like you mentioned, they may get the wrong idea if they suddenly see that their winnings decreased significantly due to extreme volatility. Nonetheless, there has to be some sort of waiver if they fully want to receive their bonus in BTC.

Though this may be the case, this is some good development on cryptocurrencies. The fact that a sport that is as big as UFC started to entertain and integrate cryptocurrencies as a form of payment can attract more people into knowing the latter's nature and fundamentals.

Regardless if the UFC fighters have knowledge in crypto or not, the BTC bonus is a great perk for them. However, it is much better if these UFC fighters must start learning about Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies, etc., especially in using Crypto.com. What matters is that UFC has embraced Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in open arms, as they finally understood the technology and future of it.

These days UFC fighters are well aware about cryptocurrencies, because majority of the players were sponsored by crypto firms and the jersey carry cryptocurrency ads. This is a big step forward and benefitting the UFC fighters. Same as this, such bonuses need to be availed in other sectors. This will give more exposure to bitcoin.

Well you have to give it to them, crypto.com are excellent marketers and are seriously dominating the scene right now. They're sponsoring so many sports out there and must be raking in huge profits from all the new signups they are creating. It's a clear, concise, connected and very easy to remember domain so it's on track to become the Paypal of cryptocurrency - Leaving companies like Binance and Coinbase in the dust. This bonus payout works well for them, as they will be raking in large amounts of fees in Bitcoin every day and can pay it more directly while effectively promoting their product a little bit extra. It's good for Bitcoin, unless they start pushing their own junk coins.

Probably sportsmen are the most immersed class in cryptocurrency among all. Crypto gambling has been gaining strength on sport scene every new year, many athletes are already partnering with crypto ads and companies, like you said. And talking about fighting sports specifically, those athletes are the most interested ones in investing their money, because they know their careers don't last too long, since it's an exhausting activity, which harms and injure the body considerably. When they don't have knowledge and experience with investments, they hire financial managers who take care of their funds and will go for bitcoin investment without blinking an eye.

Bonus in bitcoin could mean a lot if they keep it as an investment but if they chose to convert it to fiat afterwards, i guess that won't be a problem. After all, its a reward for them for showing their efforts and skills. Well, crypto.com has made its perfect decision to start crypto awareness through sponsoring a world event. Imagine a lot of audience will be able to witness the presence of crypto.com and know its existence, so this could be very helpful in achieving faster adoption for crypto worldwide.

I think their managers are already knowledgeable about it that they can explain well to their team members. And to think that its only a bonus, the athletes are free to keep it or convert it into fiat when they need it the most. But it will be more valuable if they learn to start it as an investment, i guess athletes are smart enough so when it comes to crypto, maybe they know a little bit of it.

I'm sure the athletes will learn it because they already have the assets from the bonus given, I think it's not much if it is converted to fiat because they already have a lot of fiat money in the account, if they benefit from the bonus because they are still holding in the coins then they will promote the profits because his expectations were actually achieved.

politicians

no better marketing for a censorship-resistant store of value than politicians printing a lot of money, devaluing the currency, sanctions, so forth and so on.

You could really learn up bitcoin with just few line of sentences on what it is all about and its not really that hard to understand on what it is, i dont see for it to be that relevant or much interesting for them since
its not really that much a big amount where it would be usually to be ignored but honestly it isnt really that a bad idea or initiative in speaking on spreading bitcoin adoption or exposure.
Hope that there would be some things more than on this one where companies would make out the same step on what they had done.

Remember the impact on current price that the El Salvador news had about making Bitcoin legal tender?

Your friend is one of the many people who want to know about bitcoin because of the main sponsor of Crypto.com in the UFC, I believe that there will be more interaction to grow new community members in crypto, apart from giving bonuses to UFC fighters but the strategy of distributing prizes in BTC to all viewers on a simple quiz program or other reward program will have a faster impact on adding new crypto communities around the world.

I haven't read how much they'll be paying, but I assumed it wasn't more than the regular bonus and the news is that they can be paid in Bitcoin.  This is probably a bad idea for the fighters to be honest, because the amount of money is small, they'll need it to pay for training, and if the value drops they'll be on the hook for taxes that could potentially be more than the value of the Bitcoin when they cash it out.  I can understand for athletes that make a lot of money a program like this could be great, but these fighters are very publicly underpaid and I doubt many of them can afford to sit on Bitcoin through downtrends without having to cash it out at a loss to pay expenses.  If this was going for athletes like Connor McGregor it would be great, but something tells me Connor won't be accepting any bonuses in Bitcoin for his fights.

The thing is, those bonuses (those specific ones listed) did not exist before and were created specifically for the partnership with crypto.com, so it's not like they won't be paid in dollars but crypto, they were never paid in dollars for this bonuses. So I doubt they will have anything against it. Especially UFC fighters, they are paid so little, they will, unfortunately, take whatever they can get.

Just watch, There is a chance that Mexico makes Bitcoin legal tender in the near future, and as that happens I think it might create a pump up to 20-43x for the Bitcoin price.
I get my numbers from the population and GDP relativity. But my math does show me a definite pump over the possibly upcoming Mexico news.

Remember the impact on current price that the El Salvador news had about making Bitcoin legal tender?

yes! didn't know about the Mexico news so went to search
Mexican Senator Proposes Bill to Make Bitcoin Become Legal Tender in Her Country (https://www.cryptoglobe.com/latest/2022/02/mexican-senator-proposes-bill-to-make-bitcoin-become-legal-tender-in-her-country/)

sounds big if approved and this just confirms that we are now on a domino cascade, El Salvador just dropped the first piece, trend will keep going.

it'll be interesting to watch, for sure.

Do you think the majority of athletes not only from UFC will be happy to accept their bonus by Bitcoin?

I don't understand what's the difference between BTC bonus and USD bonus. Bonus stays bonus in any currency ;D

When you receive USD bonus, your manager get a check from UFC. Fighters goes to bank and cash out it, or the manager gives him fiat and keeps check for other cases. The whole situation is transparent. But when fighter receive your bonus in BTC, I dont know who is the owner BTC address. Fighter create wallet by himself? Saves seed phrase, sets all the protection and etc? This whole headache is up to manager. But when comes time to share bonus with manager, coach, team mates, doctor and etc, it might be quite hard to explain to everyone how $50k bonus turned into $48,345 and/or why everyone gets less or more.

Dont forget, that when you get X USD bonus you can spend X USD, but when you get X BTC bonus, no one can predict how much you bonus will be tomorrow  :)
