Nice! How would you deal with the risk?

Something for the community, I trust they pay back the loan, if a loan is repaid then someone else can get the loan and learn about Bitcoins. To reduce risk I only offer 2 BTC max.

Nice, thank you.

What is in it for you by offering free "loans" ?

These "free" loans are given with no interest, but the recipients are allowed/encouraged to give a tip showing how much it helped them. Although many people have asked what a reasonable tip is, Senbonzakura has consistently said "Whatever you feel like giving."

1 MILLION bitcoins..

And a "laser".....

Correction, 1 BILLION btc... :D

Great that you're doing this, good to see that not everyone is completely paranoid when it comes to bitcoins. A majority of the users I've talked with are extremely miserly with their bitfunds, and ridiculously suspicious. I specifically remember having to go through a one hour interview just to get my first bitcoin, and being overcharged at that.

hi thanks for the new loan. Ive ben reading the forum and its generally advised to use a different address for each transaction because you can label them seperately and keep track so please use this receiving address: 15Yp86Rc6sVFRNTTfNVDxE1Tbz9JNAiqcx   : Also thanks for the info about keys- I have not lost the log in data I have my password and user id. so when I receive the BTC I will log in transfer BTC and purchace shares. I should be able then to access my private key and save that and my user ID to the usb (I hope) I will let you know . reg.

This is awesome, thanks for providing the service.  But people should really be using Bitcoins autonomously as a replacement for fiats, even if it means waiting.  That just pressures the markets to make Bitcoins all the more easier to use.

A general enquiry. I have used the facility offered because it was usefull to me. However if the advertisement simply stated ; 0% interest free loans.  Is there such a thing and if so what would be its basis?. Admittedly as restated here by me it sits oddly in a capitalist system and even in BTC completely free transfers are at the bottom of the list (0.0005) seems to be the acceptable minimumn to get the deal done!. I am generally curious as I appear to be the only one  (so far) please correct me if I am wrong, to use this offer?.  reg.

hi,  Perhaps I should be more specific. Does IBB offer as standard 0% interest free loans. Or is the offer currently only available to newbies, which I think is termed a loss leader. Of what limit, duration, or security is required, should such a facility be available?.  I know from recent experience that the cost of a BTC went from about 3.6 to 4,2 GBP in the last week of my current loan so there is built in increase in value there but traditional banks add interest to that as well as leveraging deposits to generate revenue of their own.  I was just interested to find out how an alternative approach would work/. regards reg

1. yes, IBB offers 0% interest free loans to everyone , whether newbie or not. (maximum amount offered to newbies is 2 BTC only)

2. if not a newbie, you can get any amount, usually upto 10 BTC. (sometimes we offer more depending on the request/risks and/or BTC price)

3. whether BTC goes up or down, you pay back the same amount of BTC you took as loan.

thanks for that explanation- it sems more like a gentlemans agreement or family arrangement!  the amount duration and decision to loan are individually asessed. But how is this applied in an essentially annonymous system where almost everyone has a pseudonym? I could apply for any amount of loans and keep defaulting- how do you differentiate between different annonymous users? reg

Could I have an interest free dollar, or other currency, loan in bitcoins that I will pay you back in bitcoins

So in other words, if a bitcoin is 5 dollars today, and 0.5 dollars when I pay you back, I would pay you 10 bitcoins. But if a bitcoin was 50 dollars when I pay you back, I would pay you 0.1 bitcoins?

Also, how are you an islamic bank?

1. If you take 1 BTC , then you repay 1 BTC (regardless of dollar value)

2. rules are 40 posts + 3 weeks registered

3. IBB is shariah compliant Bitcoin Bank, we offer loans and funding in new companies listed on GLBSE.com

My thinking was that you could use trades like that to hedge bitcoins and make investments outside of the bitcoin universe - as a loan in dollars but denominated in bitcoins is effectively making you short coins versus the currency* - and then you can make the investment in a currency.

Of course to be a real bank you need to start taking a cut somewhere as you are a spread business.

*And of course I would be long, which is why I wanted it

hmm, i understand, but if you go long and end up paying back 0.10 instead of 1 BTC , then I would have to get more BTC to accommodate more loan requests.

Much easier and better for me to deal only in BTC. BTC price wont change much in a week (for IBB newbie loan)

Absolutely - but if it goes down in value then you get more bitcoins back :)

Basically it would make sense to introduce products like that if for example you can secure some funding or deposits in dollars (or whatever).

If you are serious about being a bank then you will end up with an interesting book indeed, with all sorts of things offsetting one another.

Do you think there is a product you can design to interest people like me who would be interested in going long bitcoins, that would be more exciting than just buying them? I'm sure there is :)

Particularly if I can buy it using bitcoins.

Sure, but think like you're a bank and I'm your client, and come to you requesting that you design such a product...
