I think Messi needs just one goal to pass the legend Batistuta who is the top goal scorer for Argentina and I think Messi will score against the Netherlands as they are not well known for having a solid defense,that was always their Achilles's heel where they suffered a lot from the not so good defending.Argentina is well known for scoring goals and most probably will score against Netherlands with Messi having a really high chance of becoming the best goal scorer as I think Mbappe will have difficulties to score that easily against England but we will see.

Cody Gakpo has all the advantage for the Golden Boot. I see the Dutch team going as far as the semi-finals or finals. I would pick Ronaldo, Rashford and Richardson of Brazil to compete for the golden boot. I do not see Messi in the race for the golden boot but I see him winning the most valuable player in the competition due to his leadership qualities and skills he has portrayed in the tournament so far.

In the list of top goal scorers for this world cup Qatar 2022, Mbappe is topping the list with 5 goals already and the rest following in the train are from 3 goals below including Messi. So I think kylian Mbappe has a greater chance to going home with the golden boot. The France team is strongly leading their world cup campaign, being in the race they Mbappe is my choice for the highest goal scorer this world cup.

In Messi's several matches with Argentina in this world cup, he had many opportunities that could not be converted into goals.  one of them, when he had a chance at the penalty spot against Poland. he failed, at least, Messi has 2-4 shots on target every game. I think it is between Messi and Mbappe to become the best player in this world cup but Messi is not performing like he is in the youth and Mbappe is still very young to go for it with support of the team mate. The four players that are on equal goals are from countries capable of being the world cup winners but I think the top goal scorer will be determined by the performance of the best two countries that may likely play the final of the game. Going by the performance of the teams and the individual performance of the players listed by the op,  I think my prediction will be in favour of Mbappe or Messi because one out of the two countries are likely to play in the finals, and with their recent form and goal scoring ability they are likely to score in their next games and if they get to semi-finals it then means that the award of the highest goals scorer will be given to one of them.

I don't think Messi will find it very easy scoring to meet up with Mbappe in the next match. The Dutch side is not going to be free scoring for Argentina because they only conceive one goal from the group stage and they top the table with 7 points, they have good forward to attack the Argentina defence on counter if they open up any such opportunity. So Messi will get difficulty in scoring freely.

Mbappe was end the match with the top goal scorer of the World Cup. It was the most expected one, people with good Football knowledge surely had the predictions of Mbappe and Messi. I get what ypu are saying but you can't entirely fault a player for never winning some national team event.  They are a key piece to it but if your keeper sucls what are ypu going to do about it.  GOAT conversations will always be open ended.  I like to think of it in tiers right.  This group of players were the best of all time and so on.  It's fractional on how you put one ahead of the other.

The world cup final between Argentina and France was one of my favorite matches in the world cup of how competitive the match is and the numbers of goals that was scored. Messi was able to score 2 goals during the match and one penalty while Mbappe was able to score 3 goals and 1 penalty so far which makes it very competitive but at last Argentina was able to take the world cup home.
Mbappe had delivers an extraordinary play that had makes so many fans to like and appreciate his efforts because of his diligent delivery and pattern of playing football.

The penalty conceded by Argentina in the 80th minute not just put Argentina in the backfoot, but it also stole the golden boot from Lionel Messi. Without the two penalty kicks, Kylian Mbappe could have never overtaken Messi. And in both cases, the penalty was unnecessary. I am glad that Messi received the Golden Ball award (Silver Boot as well). Luka Modrić received the Bronze Ball, and Olivier Giroud won the Bronze Boot, and both of them deservingly so. The only award in which I had issue was the Golden Glove being given to Emiliano Martínez. I thought that Dominik Livaković or Yassine Bounou deserved it better.

Well, the goalkeeper of Argentina ended up saving them in the last minute, and also in the penalties, so even just for the final it was well deserved, but he also was great at other matches.

Yes the way Emiliano Martínez changed the fate of Argentina at last minute by saving penalty shootout that made him get that golden glove . He has definitely a major role in Argentina's victory after Messi. If he couldn't save those penalty shootout France would have been world champions again now.

Mbappe is already a scoring machine. You could say he has already achieved everything Messi or Ronaldo have achieved, perhaps even more. He was able to score three goals in the World Cup final, that's saying a lot. As for Ronaldo, I think Portugal already have a new replacement for him, it's the young player who came out in his place, Joao Felix. I liked the way he performed at this championship.

Yeah! after all, it was he who minimized their enemy's score so that they won't have any problem catching with it throughout the game it was a success and he truly deserved the award. Regarding Emiliano Martinez, I have to appreciate it. that FiFa gave him the Golden Gloves, he deserved it. The reason is, he was able to bring Argentina to win the world cup in Qatar. there was a lot that the goalkeeper from Argentina did, and one of the most brilliant saves by Martinez was made exactly 20 seconds before added time in the last extra period. Martinez also made a save on France's second kick, Kingsley Coman who advanced as the executor failed to beat Martinez because the direction of his shot was predictable. not to mention the penalty shoot-out match against the Netherlands. So, he really deserved it.

As for Mbappe, even though he created two of his three goals from the penalty spot. that is what makes him the top scorer and only one goal difference from Messi. and the fact that he scored a goal was inescapable. and he deserves it. should, Messi also has the potential. but unfortunately, he was unable to add to his tally. and Messi must be willing, that it is Mbappe who has the right to get the golden boot. after all, Messi is the best player in this world cup championship. and I think, the result has been set and no one can change it.

Argentina is a Unique team for not letting the Saudi Arabia defeat get to them. the spirit of sportsmanship in them lead them to strive for the cup other than worrying over the defeat from a small team. They actually surprised the world, nobody would have thought that Messi will lift the cup after that 2:1 defeat. As for the Argentine Keeper, he best utilized his skills when it was mostly needed. They were deeply prepared for the French players in all forms, and all they did was to bring out the best in them, which the keeper was not an exception. He deserves the Golden boot indeed, though no side of the team should be given more credit than the other, if the attackers didn't score they wouldn't have been a room for the penalty shoot out where the keeper sold his best keeping skills to the world.

The Argentine goalkeeper played as well as the Croatian goalkeeper and maybe even better... Although I agree with you that Livakovic also deserved this award... He saved his team from defeat many times... As for Luka Modric, I think they could have given the silver boot to someone else, the same Mbappe... Mbappe is an amazing player, it's my first time watching him play and he indeed deserved the golden boot that was awarded to him, if that award was ever given to any body else, that would have been a clear cheating.

Kylian mbappe is my favorite player in the world cup. His speed alone is very different from others, he's pacey and have the strength and balance to over come defenders on the pitch. I can cite several reasons that justify Mbappé's victory, among them:

Number of goals - He is better than Messi, because despite having the same number (9), three of Messi's goals were penalty kicks, unlike Mbappé who scored all goals with the ball rolling.

Assists and Goal Appearances - If Mbappé isn't scoring goals, then he's providing assists for that. Mbappé was largely responsible for most of the plays that ended in shots for the opposing goal.

Speed on the pitch - A big thing that makes Mbappé one of the best in the world is his speed. In Qatar, he hit his best goal reaching 35.3 km/h which also helped him with the powerful shots that reached 113.74 km/h in the game against Poland.

Mbappé and Pelé - In his two participations in World Cups, Mbappé scored 9 goals, surpassing Pelé, who, aged 21, scored eight goals in the first two World Cups he participated.

Mbappe is a great player no doubt but when it comes to Messi you can't just put one or two together to stop this guy, he's unpredictable, when he plays for the team he carries everybody along. Messi makes football a joy to watch, if you stop him (that's if you can) he'll create another route for other players to score, but Mbappe can't do all that, stopping his runs is even more easier than stopping Messi.

 To rap it up, I feel is fair to let Mbappe get hold of the golden boot while Messi with the trophy and man of the match award.

In the final, the French defenders had no clue against Messi. Several of the French defenders struggled to control him. He somehow managed to keep the ball under his control. On the other hand, Kylian Mbappé was nowhere in the picture for the initial 80 minutes or so. Only when he scored the first goal through a penalty kick, he came back in to the game. But Messi was consistent throughout the match. He won the match for Argentina, something that Mbappé failed to do for his team. So IMO, Messi did a much better job.

Unfortunately, we could not add Cr7 to this list this cup. He didnt score that much in thia competition as he also didnt had too many chances. All in all, Messi ended up having a much better cup than Ronaldo and took a new score back home.

From the record of the all time goal scorers in the world cup, kylian Mbappe has the chance to top the record in his life time because he has the opportunity to come for more world cups at least two more, he is still young to play but Messi may not return for it but I'm sure he is satisfied with the records to his name.

So, Klose is currently in first place with 16 goals, but Messi with 13 goals and Mbappe with 12 goals are very close to him.
Messi even scored 4 goals out of 13 from penalties.
I read somewhere that Messi stated that he will play in another world cup, if Argentina becomes the world champion. So, Messi will most likely have a good chance to become the top scorer of the world football championships in 4 years.
However, given that he is still a very young and talented striker, and that he will almost certainly appear in 2-3 more world championships, my prediction is that in 8 years Mbappe will become the best scorer in the world football championships and that record will stand for a very long time.

Though Giroud didn't score in the 2018 world cup,his performance was exceptional. Greezman was one of the top scorers in the 2018 world cup, he did this by registering a total of 4 goals and two assists in the tournament. And in the 2022 world cup, he put in a man-of-the-match performance against Morocco. Though not noticeable, Antione Griezmann, Olivier Giroud, and Ousmane Dembélé have contributed immensely in bringing France to the two world cup tournament. though people only speak more about mbappe, these individuals also deserve much respect.

I think the difference between the link you shared and the one I did was the inclusion of penalty kicks scored but that is not what point I was trying to make. I was trying to talk about goals scored in the time of play and not penalty awarded. Penalty is like a free goal awarded for the player to take the chance of scoring. Freekicks are difficult obviously.

However it will make sense if Messi will come back in Canada, Mexico and USA world cup next tournament. Argentina should be coming as defending champion and that means it is an automatic appearance on the world cup and no competition about that.

That's true France is not just Mbappe,  it's alot more than that, there are very fine and experienced players that has contributed alot in this world cup and  in bringing France to the finals.

Only 4 goals to get to the top, if we consider France will play next world cup and get at least at quarter finals (easy achievement), there's 5 matches to score 4 goals, considering he's the penalty taker, and considering France is going to be the seed and face at least one weaker team, the chances are high.
Another last thing to consider, the next world cup will have 48 teams instead of 32, so there's more probablity to have weaker teams and more goals.

From all the matches in this world cup, Griezmann's performance was considered very neat and the most stable when compared to other players and he enjoyed his new role as a playmaker. from his 7 matches, Griezmann has a statistical rating above 7, and was twice the Man of the Match during the matches between Australia and Denmark. Likewise with Olivier Giroud, his performance was quite neat from match to match. it's just, I don't understand what Descamps was thinking during the final fight. It was Dembele who played very badly, but Giroud was also taken off in the 41st minute of the first half. though, it doesn't look that bad.

Mbappe doesn't play much, in fact his performance is very unstable. especially when against Marocco, Mbappe was unable to score a single goal in these two matches. so, Griezmann and Giroud should also be given appreciation because thanks to them too, France was able to reach the final of the world cup.

Kylian Mbappé has the advantage of playing for France, who always qualify for the world cup. I really doubt whether he would achieve this sort of fame and success in case he chose to represent Cameroon (where his father is from) or Algeria (where his mother belongs to) instead of France. The case with Håland is a bit complicated. He is an immensely talented player, but his country (Norway) never qualifies for the world cup. The last tome Norway qualified for the FIFA world cup was in 1998, when they managed to qualify for the round of 16.

I believe and agree with you that Haaland can compete with Mbape in goals,but world cup will differentiate the whole thing,because Haaland has not had the opportunity to play in world cup the way Mbape has had.But when it comes to cub games and goals,Haaland is capable of even scoring more goals than Mbape.
Haaland is currently topping the goal scoring table in England,and has been able to score more goals in the first half of the season than any player I have known since I started watching England football.Scoring goals in England is always one difficult thing to do,but Haaland scores goals like he is playing.I so much like the guy.

I know that Håland is a very talented player. But I haven't watched him in action a lot, because normally I don't follow club football. I am mostly interested in international matches (FIFA World Cup, Euro Cup.etc) and Norway hardly ever qualifies for these tournaments. It is disappointing for players such as Håland, but he is not alone. Gareth Bale of Wales, Mohamed Salah of Egypt, Eldor Shomurodov of Uzbekistan, Riyad Mahrez of Algeria and Goran Pandeev of North Macedonia are examples of such talented players, who rarely gets opportunity to participate in global tournaments.

Yeah, the thing is that Mbappe is just starting really, he has at least some 2 or 3 more world cups to come and he will probably be scoring lots of goals at those anyway, so we'll have to wait and see how he performs.

But these chances comes in life time. However seems like Mbappe won't be playing more world cup - I read it online that he has faced so much discrimination after he lost the world cup - don't know if that is correct or not.

Criticism and discrimination are usual at the end of tournament especially when the fans of a team expect their side to win. France was the defending champion that got to the finals , so the fans saw themselves at the verge of picking the trophy again back to back which will be an outstanding record maybe that is what they were looking at. People most times argue blindly basically because of fan love and mbappe has been a very hard working player a d he also proved this eve in this just concluded world cup match.
I'm happy that Messi took this win and at the same time i wished mbappe did because I wanted it for an Africa country.
I also see no need for this constant reminder of unnecessary comparison and the fact that this comparisons actually has no positive impact on the community and also on the players but rather telling on tye players but imposing mental stress on them as a result of pressure.

Mbappe is a very interesting and rare player. Like a mixture of cristiano ronaldo and messi. Transforms into zlatan in the penalty area. There is no defender in the world that he can't beat. He sprints fifty to sixty meters in just a few seconds, a great athlete. If he's not injured, he'll just ruin all stats at the age of 25. For example, Haaland can't score if someone doesn't carry the ball to him, it's that simple, but mbappe doesn't need it either. I have not seen such a good player and scorer in the world cup. Mbappe scored 3 goals alone within a stipulated time frame which nobody did in the world cup. Me till date I don't know why Messi took the best play award in the world Cup. I believe that this is the end of the Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo era and a new wave of players is coming, each one with a different and even unique characteristic. Speed, skill, strength or even a mix of these skills.

Yeah Mbappe really played well and he alone too France to the Plenty shootout of the final otherwise Argentina had the game in their control with 2-0  till the 78 mins of the game. Also, remember that this is the final world cup for Messi, but Mbappe will play at least three more world cups. I think France will fancy their chances to win World cups and Euro cups in the years ahead.

Messi winning the best player in the tournament is not a mistake,he was able to make Argentina win the tittle,and despite the fact that Mbape was the highest goal scorer in the tournament,Messi still showed him how good he is in scoring goals.Mbape will really be a great player,looking at the goals he scored in the tournament,you will see that the player is talented and might end up being like Christiano Ronaldo. I like the fact that Messi lifted the trophy,but I would have been more pleased if it were to be Mbape,that would have made him win the Ballon d'or next season.

I admit, Mbappe is one of the stars of the golden generation. he has a very fast running speed, kicks so hard. However, don't forget how he couldn't score in France vs England, France vs Morocco. how the Man to Man marking was done by his opponent at that time and how it was when France vs Argentina in the world cup final. in the first half, Mbapee didn't move at all. and it was only after Marcus Thuram came on that Mbappe shifted slightly towards the center, that he was able to explore more freely.

remember, 3 of the 2 goals he scored in that match were from the penalty spot. and Marcus Thuram, who contributed greatly to the bout.  as for Haaland, he is a pure sticker. his instincts have been outstanding as one of the younger players, it's clear he rarely dribbles as his position is Target Man. but he proved his quality as one of the very talented young stars, he has scored 18 goals in this season with Man City in the Premier League.

So, if we have to compare between these stars. Mbappe vs Haaland, not Messi or Ronaldo not even Zlatan.

Mbappe and Halaand are young generation super stars which I agree,but you can not compare both and they might never be rival. Mbappe has more advantage than Halaand which makes it impossible. The country that the player comes from matters a lot and for a player to be the best,he must always be present in big competitions,to showcase your quality.

Where is Halaand this world cup in Qatar ? Nowhere to be found and so many people who don't watch EPL don't know about his qualities because he couldn't display the in the biggest competition in soccer. Messi has just played his last world cup match. It's highly unlikely he'll play the next one. But that aside, Mbappe and Messi have no rivalry whatsoever. Mbappe has not even become the greatest player to ever play for PSG or the greatest French player. Mbappe has achieved nothing in football to be regarded as a contender for the greatest anything, let alone the greatest footballer of all time. The world cup is the only trophy he has that's of real significance. No individual awards like European golden shoe, Balon d'or, UEFA best player, no champions league. C'mon. You can mention a thousand great players in history and Mbappe won't be one of them.
He's got potential, yea, but winning another world cup doesn't make his the greatest of all time. He's still got a long way to go and I doubt he'll ever have that status.
