Title: S19j Pro 104th chips state is "normal" but wont hash??? Post by: deafgoose on June 11, 2023, 01:10:14 PM What would cause this to happen?
Chips state is "normal" yet the board wont hash. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0699/5971/3078/files/error.jpg I tried to reset to factory defaults, updated the firmware, physically unplugged it to reboot. Still no improvement. I took it apart yesterday to blow out all the dust. The board started woking for about 10hours before it dropped again. This miner is only a few months old. It was purchased from a Bitmain dealer and the box was sealed. It only had a few months left of warranty. Title: Re: S19j Pro 104th chips state is "normal" but wont hash??? Post by: BitMaxz on June 11, 2023, 01:23:44 PM There is a possibility that the 1st hashboard is not connected properly.
What I would like you to try is to replug all cables of the 1st hashboard and then try again. Or if my suggestion do not work would you mind to share the whole kernel logs? Post it here but make sure to put them all inside the insert code tag before you post. So that we can troubleshoot the issue. Title: Re: S19j Pro 104th chips state is "normal" but wont hash??? Did you get this direct from bitmain? I know sometimes if you put two units into one machine it won’t run. I wonder if your miner has boards from two miners. Can you try to run only one hashboard disconnect the two hashboard and swap cables and let see if the first hashboard will hash? Also, try to clean all terminals the cable, and the busbar it might have some corrosion/dust/rust so cleaning it might fix this issue. Can you tell us what pool do you mine and maybe the pool where you mine is currently offline? Title: Re: S19j Pro 104th chips state is "normal" but wont hash??? Post by: MinerMEDIC on June 12, 2023, 01:05:37 AM does not have the sd-card This means one of three things, you have an amlogic "cousin wangs covid ARM sale" control board(thumb microUSB drive replaced microSD), a beagle bone control board(SD card slot is inside the control board housing), or it is one of the new "cousin wang's 2023 ARM CPU sale" control board I've started hearing rumors about(idek). The logs look fine also. You can try these options. 1. Restore defaults in web interface and reload pool info. 2. Try configuring it with a remote tool like BTCtools. 3. Load/reload the latest firmware update from bitmain's website. Number one worked for me last week when I had a similar seemingly fine log that simply didn't want to hadh but that machine was new to me, yours was running fine. I currently use NiceHash but I moved to F2pool and it made no difference. Title: Re: S19j Pro 104th chips state is "normal" but wont hash??? I may need to ship out my machine to have it repaired by a professional. I don't think its right that the warranty on these start the day it was built, instead of the day it was purchased. I've only owned it for 3 months. Title: Re: S19j Pro 104th chips state is "normal" but wont hash??? Post by: philipma1957 on June 14, 2023, 03:53:22 PM ARE YOU USA BASED?
There are a few good repair guys that can turn your gear around fast. If you deal directly with Bitmain they can be very slow. You end up with all three boards turned off for a month or more. Title: Re: S19j Pro 104th chips state is "normal" but wont hash??? Post by: mikeywith on June 15, 2023, 04:54:59 PM I pulled out the two good boards and now its telling me "No data yet! This could very well be an EPROM related issue, it would have been very helpful if you were able to install custom firmware on this type of control board, there is probably a way to get in using SSH or something else, I'd try to contact BrianOS and Vnish folks (AwsomeMiner to ASIC.to) and ask if they have a way to burn their firmware on this weird control board. Custom firmware ignores that voltage setting stored in the EPROM and can many times fix such issues, if there is no option, you are going to need a pro to fix it, they will probably start by copying the hex from a good board to the bad one. Nope, Canada. UPDATE: All 3 hash boards stopped working today. WTF? Maybe now somebody will see something in my logs? I would be so grateful to anyone that could shine some light on this issue. The issue from logs still the same as from your previous logs removing the 3rd hashboard and keeping the two hashboards should run normally with decrease hashrate. As suggested by mikeywith you can try Braiins OS to test if it is just an EEPROM issue but the problem is as you said before that it does not have the SD card slot have you checked the control board inside and maybe the SD card slot is hiding near Ethernet socket or beaglebone ? Or if does not have an SD slot then your last hope is to use an OTG drive to micro USB to boot Braiins OS in your unit. Title: Re: S19j Pro 104th chips state is "normal" but wont hash??? Code: 2023-06-16 22:31:38 Chain[2]: find 0 asic, times 2 This shows that the 3rd chain is dead, in the op it was chain 0 ( labeled 1 in the GUI), did you swap these two hashboards? Yes he did that was my suggestion on my previous post (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5456051.msg62394043#msg62394043) to know if the cable is damaged or the hashboard is dead. EDIT: Will this adapter work? https://www.amazon.ca/Sandisk-SDDD3-016G-G46-Cellphone-Signal-Booster/dp/B01M1272LZ/ I don't see any strange logs except on the abandon mix board and 0 ASIC on the 3rd hashboard. If we see these logs like the Abadon mix board the first thing that comes to my mind like Philipma1957 said that 3rd hashboard might be a replacement board which is why it stop mining due to the EEPROM compatibility issue. About the OTG SanDisk, that thing might work but I'm not sure if the s19j pro USB port support USB 3.0 and it's a bit expensive why not just buy a Micro USB port to USB female connector which is cheaper if you already have a USB flash drive. Title: Re: S19j Pro 104th chips state is "normal" but wont hash??? Post by: mikeywith on June 17, 2023, 07:21:27 PM But in the first kernel log he posted it was not showing 0 asic for the bad hashboard, which is why we started talking about the EPROM, if shows 0 asic then that is a different story, it is likely the hashboard is dead and needs repair, in other words, it is unlikely to be software related. I flashed the image onto the adapter, stuck it in, booted it up and nothing. I go to the ip address and its still the old firmware. It could have flashed the firmware but just so happened that it is the same version, to confirm if it went through or not, you would check your pool settings (should go back to default settings) and the miner's ip settings (back to dhcp). Try BraiinOS, it should boot from the sdcard without flashing to nand. Title: Re: S19j Pro 104th chips state is "normal" but wont hash??? You might did it wrong that is why the version didn't change and sometimes fake SD card have fake voluke that can turn some files corrupted so try to re place a SD card. I'm not an expert - but the PCIe connector is producing a nice clean 12v on the needed areas. Likewise my multi gives normal readings... which makes me think of something in a Bitmain article about a "clerk" and "voltage" which I think was a bad translation for a voltage regulator in the Psupply? Post by: philipma1957 on November 12, 2023, 01:45:28 PM Ok heres some funky for ya's Tested boards - they seem ok ... as best as I can test them. Installed braains on this AML s19pro so I have logs from both factory and braains. Code: Here's the factory: and from our friends at Braiins.. with the newly shiny installed OS Code: 2015-01-01T00:00:25.951420Z INFO bosminer_plus_tuner::arch: Detected Hash Board #0: Sorry.. I should have probably pastbin'd all this? I've cleaned everything. I've unplugged and replugged everything in. Any connection guys? All green. Just 0 hash. okay we use [ code ] [ /code ] to shorten it. looks like bad psu in the first one looks like bad hashboard in the second one. so lets go to brains setup with the 1 board that reads short. I assume you only had 1 board in the gear the other 2 boards you had outside the gear. try the one board but move the white communication wire to a different controller slot. 99 percent sure you get same error then try moving the white wire to the third slot in the controller 99 percent sure same error. At this point pull the board place it to the side label it ?shorted? test a second board same way. if all boards fail it is a bit more likely the psu is bad if 1 or 2 boards work it was a short in the boards do you have 5 machines. You can really do a lot of board testing if just one or two of the first three work is means the psu is good and you can test all 15 boards. If first 3 boards fail test only 3 more if you are 0 for six. switch to next psu. see if a board works from the six you tested. just do 1 of this six on the second psu. if it works your first psu was bad. if it does not work go to a new 7th board form the 3rd machine. if it fails test the other 2 on that 3rd machine at this point you will have tested 9 boards and 2 psi's. If they are all bad it is likely you had a major event fry controllers. If you are New York you could contact my repair guy https://vmssecuritycloud.com/ his name is Greg tell him Phil from New Jersey recommended him to you. good luck. note I thought you were the guy with 5 bad s17s. if you only have the 1 s19j just do the three boards 1 at a time and also try switching the white communication cable. I did most of the tests you recommended and indeed all points towards PSU. Hashboard may have been unplugged or half connected when I was doing my ghetto diag posts. But when everything is plugged in... everything is groovy except for the short circuit message. Following your advice with what I have and reseating everything/changing white cables around/making things look pretty etc

Sounds like something is toasty in the PSU? In this case slot 1 is .09, slot 2 comes up as .2x. This is my only S19Pro so I'm limited in terms of further testing. But I'm fairly sure i've ruled out everything - except for the PSU. I made the possibly unwise choice of buying an S17 to "play with" some. I'll experiment on it to see what kind of things braiins says when I fiddle with it. Will definitely reach out to your guy. THanks a bunch for your time! Happy mining! |
